Jihad Watch

Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Ex-Muslim: Qur’an revealed a religion I did not like

May 1, 2015 3:55 pm By Robert Spencer

MonaWalter2014Mona Walter grew up a Muslim in Somalia. When she moved to Sweden, she started studying Islam, and found that she did not like what she was learning. Now she has left Islam and is called an “Islamophobe” and worse.

What should she have done? Stayed in a religion she disliked and believed to be false so as to avoid threats and opprobrium? What should she do now? Stay silent for fear of charges of “Islamophobia” that inevitably come to everyone who dares utter a critical word about Islam and jihad?

In the West today one must like Islam, or is considered to have some kind of moral defect. One need not like Christianity or Judaism, or socialism or capitalism or democracy or communism, but one must like and respect Islam, or you will be considered to be “hateful,” “bigoted,” and “racist,” as well as “Islamophobic.”

This is one reason why AFDI and Jihad Watch are co-sponsoring the Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest in the Dallas area Sunday. The point is not mockery of Islam. The point is not poking religious people in the eye. The point is defending the principles of free speech and free inquiry, without which society and human beings are not free, but are slaves to the people in power. Those who wield the real power are not necessarily those who hold office. Those who wield the real power are those whom one dares not criticize, to say nothing of mocking, on pain of violent reprisal: if they’re allowed to frighten people into silence, then essentially they can do whatever they wish, knowing that no one will dare to cross them.

People might find drawing Muhammad to be distasteful. At this point it must be done — or the thugs and bullies will have free rein.

“Ex-Muslim: Koran Revealed a Religion I Did Not Like,” by Dale Hurd, CBN News, April 28, 2015 (thanks to Douglas):

GOTHENBURG, Sweden — Mona Walter is on a mission. Her mission is for more Muslims to know what is in the Koran. She says if more Muslims knew what was in the Koran, more would leave Islam.

Walter came to Sweden from Somalia as a war refugee when she was 19. She says she was excited about joining a modern European nation with equal rights for women. But as a young Muslim woman, that was not the Sweden she encountered.

A Real Introduction to Islam

It was in Sweden that she first experienced radical Islam on a daily basis.

“I discovered Islam first in Sweden. In Somalia, you’re just a Muslim, without knowing the Koran. But then you come to Sweden and you go to mosque and there is the Koran, so you have to cover yourself and you have to be a good Muslim.”

Walter says she grew up in Somalia never having read the Koran.

“I didn’t know what I was a part of. I didn’t know who Mohammed was. I didn’t know who Allah was. So, when I found out, I was upset. I was sad and I was disappointed,” she recalled.

And it was in Sweden that Walters says she discovered Allah is a god who hates, and that Islam is not a religion of peace.

“It’s about hating and killing those who disagree with Islam. It’s about conquering. Mohammed, he was immoral. He was a bloodthirsty man. He was terrible man, and Muslims can read that in his biography — what he did to Jews, how he raped women, how he killed people. I mean, he killed everyone who didn’t agree with him,” she explained.

Discouraged, Walter left Islam and became an atheist, until one day a family member encouraged her to read the Bible. She still remembers the first time she read Matthew 5:44, where Jesus said to “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

Christianity, a New Perspective

“It was very strange for me to ‘love your enemy,’ because in Islam it is ‘kill your enemy.’ ‘Kill your enemy and anyone who refuses Islam.’ But Jesus Christ was all about love and peace and forgiveness and tolerance, and for some reason, I needed that,” she said.

She went to see Pastor Fouad Rasho of Angered Alliance Church, a Syrian immigrant who ministers to former Muslims in Sweden.

“She started to believe and she came to me. And that was the beginning of her trusting,” he said….

“I’ve been called an ‘Islamophobe,’ and yeah [they tell me], ‘You’ve been bought,’ ‘You’re a house nigger,’ and stuff like that, terrible things, ” she said.

She has also been called a racist. Walter warns that Islamic radicalism is a serious threat in Sweden, and says Swedish society should care more about women trapped in Islam.

“[Swedes] will think, ‘Oh, we’re in Sweden; we have freedom of religion,’ but Muslim women don’t have freedom of religion. They live under the law of Allah, not under Swedish law. So they will suppose everyone has freedom of religion. We don’t have freedom of religion. It’s not for Muslim women. It’s for everyone else,” Walter argued.

Walter lives under death threats and sometimes travels with police protection. She wanted to show us Muslim areas around Gothenburg, but had to first dress as a Muslim. She believes if she were to show her face, she would be attacked.

“I can never go to those areas just being me, flesh and blood Mona. I would never get out of there alive,” she said.

“I mean, Muslims are normally good people like everyone else,” she continued. “But then when they read the Koran, then they become a killing machine.”

“This so-called ISIS or el Shabab or Boko Haram, they’re not like extremists. They’re not fanatical. They’re just good Muslims, good Muslims who follow the teachings of Islam. The prophet Mohammed, he did that. They’re doing what he did,” she explained….

And I understand, from reading things elsewhere, that she is married to a local Swedish Christian, and they have two little daughters who are being raised as Christians.

So she is doing her little bit to help Sweden stay non-Muslim. It’s not her fault if at present a lot of native Swedes are refusing to listen to her warnings.

The idea that Mona Walter is “destroying lives” is just grotesque. This story is surely proof enough that this is not about race, but just about the violent creed of Islam.

The Problem of Islam is not about race; but unfortunately, the Problem ofthe Problem is about race, insofar as the PC MCs and the Islamopologists inject race into the war of ideas. One catches a brief glimpse of this racialization at one point in the article:

“I’ve been called an ‘Islamophobe,’ and yeah [they tell me], ‘You’ve been bought,’ ‘You’re a house nigger,’ and stuff like that, terrible things, ” she said.

Certainly, this elaborate complication of the problem is unnecessary and illogical, since Islam is not a race, but an ideology which includes any and all races, and the problem of Islam is put into practice by a white Muslim as surely as by a black, brown, yellow or red (or purple) Muslim. I suppose the prevailing tactic of the Counter-Jihad — to continue to insist that race is a non sequitur and a red herring — may work in the long run. In my estimation, however, such an oblique attempt at an end-run doesn’t seem to have made much of a dent in the PC MC paradigm, and perhaps a more direct engagement, palpating the oozing viscera of the incoherence at the heart of the PC MC paradigm, would produce better results..

Sure in West you don’t have to be surrounded by blacks, yellow etc especially if they are unwelcome… But rhondakelly07 need to understand that all have come from one man, the Bible has been saying it for ages and now science is parroting the fact.

All people have their “own” countries but it is the West that cannot distinguish a bully code studded so called religion to God centered religion, so much for the “progress” in last one century !!!! That some in your sick society cannot welcome a courageous and clear minded lady (who constantly lives under death threat) is rather sickening… I didn’t know that these elements reciprocate their love for an endangered and useful species both in the eyes of God and state/society in this fashion….

Voeg is certainly right that the opposition to violent Jihad is often framed as a racial issue. Hence you have the bizarre phenomenon of ethnic Somalis such as Mona Walter and Ayaan Hirsi Ali being excoriated as “racists”—ironically, often by caucasian dhimmis.

Actual racism is rightly condemned, and actual racists such as the appalling rhondakelly are thankfully very rare.

But useful idiots often conflate an opposition to Jihad with “racism”, and this *is* a serious issue, as good people opposed to the savagery of Islam are often afraid to speak up lest they be smeared as “Islamophobes” and “racists”.

It is a false accusation, but a powerful weapon that winds up empowering Jihad, whether that is always the intent of those who wield it or not.

That’s why I believe it is so important to counter it whenever it arises.

Of course Mona is right, since islam is wholly evil; and she is also very brave because we all know what happens to those that leave islam.

And this is why I refer to the quran as the “unholy” quran. It is a manual-4-murder, nothing more.

    • Wellington says

      May 1, 2015 at 5:19 pm

I submit, Champ, that Islam is not wholly evil but precisely because it isn’t it is more powerful and more invidious. There are some good things in Islam, for instance, charity to be extended to other Muslims, an emphasis on the importance of family (but at what a cost), a humbling of the self before a greater authority even though Allah is an Orwellian-type deity, and a demand that in business dealings, at least with other Muslims and actually even with the kuffaar, honesty prevails. If Islam were 100% evil its malevolence would be even more easily detected and thus Islam would not get as much traction as it does. I would argue that something which mixes good with bad is more of a menace than something which is solely bad.

I’m reminded here of the Christian conception of Satan. Satan, so it has been held of him, often tells the truth and mixes the truth with lies. An entity like Satan would be less powerful if he alwas lied.

The way I have put it here at JW on several occasions is that there is nothing, nothing at all, good in Islam which can’t be found elsewhere but there is much bad in Islam which is hard to find anywhere else. Islam, in part because it is not wholly bad, has proven to be the single most long-term malevolent ideology in all of man’s history. Bar none.

Hope you and yours are doing well, my friend. Should you disagree with me here, I would welcome a counter-argument by yourself since I have come to respect you very much over the years. Take care.

Hi Wellington, and thank you for writing …

I still consider islam to be wholly evil based primarily upon its evil founder and the unholy quran/hadiths, and I also base my findings on the evil actions of muslims, too. Granted, not all muslims are terrorists, but the vast majority of terrorists *are* muslims.

        You wrote:

Sorry, but I haven’t seen any charity being extended, muslim to muslim. If anything, I see just the opposite occuring within the ranks of islam ..with shia killing shiite, and vise versa; and honor killings, etc. So perhaps you’re being sarcastic here? ..I don’t know. But I certainly haven’t noticed the kind of charity you’re referrencing. Please be more specific, because maybe I’m missing something. Again, thank you for writing.

Respecting, Champ, the specific issue of charity (zakat) going from Muslim to Muslim, it is my understanding that a plethora of Islamic foundations exist to aid poorer Muslims, for instance to finance at least one visit to Mecca and Medina (the Hajj) in a poorer Muslim’s lifetime and for the establishment of hospitals across the Islamic world. BTW, I wasn’t being sarcastic at all.

Of course, I don’t for a moment deny that Muslims kill other Muslims and this crap is all over the place. It’s dispositive of just how screwed up the Islamic faith is. But I would assert again that if Islam had absolutely no good qualities in it, then it would all the more effortlessly be discerned for what it really is, i.e., a totalitarian spiritual ideology. I submit again that Islam’s good qualities, few as they are, serve as a cover for its ultimate malevolence. I would refer you again to my analogy with the Christian take on Satan.

One word is missing from Wellington’s argument which would make all the difference in the world — supplied here in bolded brackets:

“f Islam had absolutely no [apparently] good qualities in it, then it would all the more effortlessly be discerned for what it really is, i.e., a totalitarian spiritual ideology.”

They become recognized as apparently good — but not really good — by considering their role in the broader context of the Super-Tribe and Super-Gang which Islam is. When a ruthless Mafia don and his associates show mercy and kindness to selective individuals or groups under their criminal control, we would never say they are being good in reality; rather, they are doing things which resemble the kindness and mercy which acquire their reality when performed by healthy individuals in a relatively healthy social context. The Mafia does these things for the wrong reasons — in order to strengthen their power among people whom they ensnare — using a sitck-and-carrot approach of a combination of violent threats (plus actual violent acts) and seeming benevolence — in a co-dependent relationship. More subtly, the Mafia does these seemingly good things out of a twisted, confused sense that they are good and “honorable”; but any goodness they retain only subsists in a perverted deformation of the original, which requires two things the Mafia no longer has: a healthy heart and a healthy society. The Mafia associate and co-dependent enabler may psychologically fool himself into believing that he is still in touch with the goodness that is the original source of their perversions in the Mafia culture; but we observers and analysts with the advantage of a detached perspective would be — as Wellington seems to be with regard to a monstrously and grotesquely and massively more evil and dangerous analogy to the Mafia, Islam — losing sight of our inner compass by which we can distinguish Good and Evil. If the symbolism Satan means anything, it means the perennial deception that confuses real Good from apparent Good. Some famous man of yore reminded us that “by their fruits ye shall know them”. The abundance, yea plethora, of malignant fruit burgeoning out of Jannah-cum-Jahannam of Islam shows that it is a malignant tree, and that any good fruit seeming to hang amid dazzling cornucopia of the myriad toxic, rotten fruit therein oozing their sugars to entice and seduce the whore and her customers are fruits whose resemblance to the goodness of Life are only parasitically sucking its sap from the underside of civlization to the extent that any of the civilized, through the confusions of their sinfulness, allow this.

Refocusing my analysis, I note an interesting mirror-image, so to speak, in that the Politically Correct Multi-Culturalism that continues to enable the problem of Islam indeed is sustained by good qualities — genuinely good qualities, unlike the seeming goods of Islam. I say this because I am convinced that my West is, at heart, good, but only on a garden path of earnest and sincere confusion. No such thing can be said of Islam, for the reasons I palpated above.

Wellington, I seldom disagree with you, but I am more in agreement with Champ here.

I think it is quite notable that even in the Muslim world most charity is supplied not by other Muslims but by ‘filthy’ Infidels. Funding hospitals, orphanages, schools, and disaster relief often comes from Christian, Jewish, and secular agencies, *not* from their fellow Muslims. Charitable giving, even in wealthy Muslim countries, is statistically among the lowest in the world, even when adjusted for by income (it is highest in the West).

You do sometimes find Muslim funding for things like going on the Hadj, probably because this is Islam-specific.

I think it is not so much that Muslims are “merciful” to other Muslims, but just that they are generally even harsher towards Infidels.

The more I have studied Zakat, the more it seems to me that translating the term as “charity” is inaccurate—it is more funding to extend Islam, and that *might* take the form of charity as we know it, but more often is focused on spreading Islam, and that includes *funding for waging violent Jihad*.

As for the family, as much as I support what we in the West refer to as family values, the institution of the family should not to be regarded as ipso facto positive in all its forms—not if it encompasses pedophilia, polygamy, wife beating, “Honor Killing”, and raising children as Jihadists, as it does so often in Islam.

In the same way, I don’t find humbling of the self an unalloyed good—I believe it depends on what one is humbling oneself *to*—and in the case of “Allah”, this is generally pretty ugly.

As for general business dealings in Dar-al-Islam, from everything I have read the norm is very different from what you posit, where Muslims are constantly trying to scam not just Infidels but each other. You hear this over and over from Westerners working or doing business in the Muslim world—at first, they are often quite shocked by the phenomenon.

Of course, there are always exceptions to be found in individual Muslims, but I think this is more where—as was probably Mona Walter’s experience—the Muslims are lax in their observance of Islam.

So I do consider Islam a near unalloyed evil—although one can find some decent Muslims. As Muslim apostate Bosch Fawstin once said, some Muslims are simply better than their religion.

Anyway, as I noted, Wellington, it is rare that I find myself in disagreement with you, and I always respect your point of view. Hope you are well.

I thank you for your input, gravenimage, as I do Champ and Kepha. As always, you argue your points very well. Perhaps it would have been most accurate of me to assert that Islam sometimes gives the appearance of being good, hiding behind a religious veil and all that, even though down under it is a prescription for the crushing of the human spirit and the stultification of the mind. One thing is for certain and that is that you and I and Champ, and I believe Kepha too, have no doubt about the ultimate iniquity of Islam. It is invidious and I detest it as much as I detest anything. It is a destroyer of liberty and for this I can never forgive it. Take care, my friend.

I’m going to back up my skeptical friend Wellington in this exchange. Evils–such as Islam–become credible because they appropriate a few good things. Islam recognizes that there is an all-powerful God, that we are accountable to him for our actions, and recognizes that this God cannot be worshiped through images. It recognizes that life is a struggle with evil (althoughit cannot accurately locate where the front line is). These are good, true, biblical teachings. But on this base it adds a whole lot of error and acceptance of sin.

Don’t get me wrong. I think that Islam is a lie. I see that religion blessing the sins of powerful male adherents. I see it excusing its own ignorance of the Scriptures it claims to fulfill and supplant. But without the good points it borrowed from biblical religion, it would not have gained any credibility at all.

I think you once stated that you’re a Calvinist, am I right? And “TULIP” stands for the 5 points of Calvinism.

Well, I consider myself a 3 point Calvinist, and I want to focus on the first point: “T”, which stands for “Total Depravity”.

          Ok …

With that in mind, I want to draw your attention to the thoroug yet succinct information from “Got Questions”, which explains the idea of “Total Depravity” in more detail; and to challenge you to please rethink what you stated here:

“Islam recognizes that there is an all-powerful God, that we are accountable to him for our actions, and recognizes that this God cannot be worshiped through images.”

So, you think that islam recognizes an all-powerful God, right? But it should be little “g”, and not big “G”. And the only true God that we can ever by “accountable to” is Jesus Christ, and not allah/satan. And to you last point, they already worship the image of the beast, which is satan/allah. Again, I do not see how you can attribute *any* “good” from what muslims believe, since in no way do they worship the one True God.

          Your thoughts …

          Debate 101
Islamic practice is not 100% evil

While, Islam as a whole is both evil and even laughable beyond belief, Islam has incorporated charity for the poor.
I have no problem in acknowledging this fact fully, provided of course that the whole onion is unraveled publically.
There is such an abundance of horror and buffoonery in Islam that acknowledgment of Islam’s self-serving efforts to promote charity would only serve to give credibility to the one unraveling the Islamic onion.

Any one can say some good thoughts on morality like
        1. do not kill or injure others ( of course in self defence you may have to use violence which is is a natural reaction )
        2. do not take what is not given or belongs to you.
        3. work to make a living.
4.make money not by exploiting others.
        5. respect women / do not abuse them………..

All these thoughts arise by secular education, if required we can have some small moral guide for the whole world , within 10 pages…………

The problem with Islam, is that there are so many verses which spews hatred towards non believers, supression of women, most importantly puts the responsibility of preserving the chastity of women ( like alpha lion male protecting the lionesses ) this specific thought makes him violent, combined with support of hatred of non believers from Koran and Hadith.

Every one agrees that chastity is desired……….but should we become violent for this.
We know that family is important, and do our best to preserve family…….some people go for divorce for trivial things, but even if we divorce we should be responsible for our kids, this is a simple thought and needs no brainer for any one with common sense.

But any one without common sense………….is disaster for family / society.

Jasnan, our so-called “secular” education is haunted by three millennia worth of Jewish and Christian ghosts. I’ve had lunch with people whose ancestors believed that you weren’t a man and couldn’t marry unless you brought home an enemy head. Islam sees the rest of us as Dar-al-Harb, against whom any kind of predation (if they can get the upper hand) is justified. Our “secular” educations would look very different had they evolved out of such traditions. Seeing that it is becoming increasingly acceptable in the “secular” West to indulge in what were once the sexual indulgences of a few males wealthy enough to forget the fear of the Christian God, we’ll probably see you “simple” and “natural” rules go by the wayside in a couple of generations, too.

        • gravenimage says

          May 2, 2015 at 2:55 pm

Jasnan, I very much agree that there is a moral secular tradition in the West, which is—as Kepha notes—derived in large part from Judeo-Christian tenets.

And you are right that Islam is *very* different, and its tenets often openly contradict decent moral precepts. (for instance, it is often less a case of the alpha male lion protecting the lioness’s chastity, and more him violently turning on her if he fears she hasn’t maintained it—even in the case of her daring to fall in love).

I don’t think it’s so much the case of Islam lacking common sense as it is that Islam has a completely different moral structure from the Judeo-Christian-secular West—one where violence and cruelty are sacralized, and any perceived weakness is sneeringly exploited.

I very much agree that Muslim “morality” is an absolute disaster, for the individual, for the family, and for any society where it gains ground—as it is now attempting to do here in the free West.

Where an ex-Muslim could be considered ‘Islamophobic’ – then what we are really looking at – has nothing to do with the lofty claim of anti-racism – but of the application of Sharia law – in the free world.

That is where this is going!!

The “anti-Islamopbia’ effort is about upholding Islam’s laws!!

Islamic theocracy – on an anti-racism carrier.

Possibly half those on CAIR’s top 10 “Islamophobes” list – were ex-Muslims – and even one Muslim – who speaks out against – the push for Islamic theocracy or political Islam in the US.

I would not call the majority of the American people “stupid.” I think the word that more nearly describes them correctly is “ignorant” …. at least when it comes to Islam. Ignorance can lead to acts of stupidity. How to get from a state of ignorance to one of knowledge is the problem. Wisdom, of course, is the ultimate goal. Past generations of Americans have had a way of achieving their goals. Let’s hope that the next generation of Americans finds that the wisdom slowly distilled from knowledge is a more worthy goal than the illusory bliss which so readily flows from ignorance.

As frustrating as this ignorance can be—especially when it takes the form of willful ignorance—it *can* be overcome. We say this in the 1920s and ’30s with a gradually dawning understanding of the threat of Fascism, and I believe we are finally starting to see more people in the US beginning to wake up to the threat of islam, as well.

They trust their families and the people around them to tell them. They think they do know what the religion is about, by word of mouth (which is how the religion was passed along until Mohammad’s followers wrote down in bits and pieces what they had memorized during his lifetime). Then, if they get around to reading the Qur’an and other foundational literature, many of these believers are horrified.

I’ve seen this expressed by many who’ve left Islam on apostate sites. They’re raised in Islam, they may even memorize the Qur’an in Arabic, but they don’t understand Arabic, and rely on trusted others to tell them what the religion is about. When they finally read the Qur’an, they drop it like a hot potato – but often it takes quite a while before they take off the hijab and stop doing their prayers out of fear of hurting their parents or being kicked out of the family. Some fear even worse.

So some of those girls walking around in head scarves and even niqabs are not Muslims anymore. Some are even atheists, trying to work out how to negotiate a path away from the religion without having to break hearts and lose family.

I think you would call them casual Muslims, who inherited their religion. I’ve known some Muslims who loved the freedom of the West (fun, smoking, drinking, music, sports, etc. – usually men), who became very observant when they had children. I was a casual Christian until I got old enough to care about the world, my soul, other people, etc. Kinda normal! I don’t know if being observant translates into studying the Qur’an; some people put a lot of stock in ritual, versus actual spiritual knowledge.

Unfortunately, Karen, becoming a devout Muslims leads to *very* different outcomes from becoming a devout Christian.

And there is *nothing* truly spiritual about the violent Qur’an. If all a Muslim does is observe ritual—Wudu, prayers, fasting during Ramadan, going on the Hadj—they are likely not much of a danger. It is when they begin taking the tenets of their vicious creed seriously that they become a threat to us.

Mohammad terrorized, beheaded, murdered, raped, pillaged, and enslaved the Arab world as he fought his way from Medina to Mecca. Mohammad did these things in order to instill fear in his enemies, while he established followers for the belief in Allah, the god of Islam. ISIS, Boko Haram, alQaeda, all jihad groups use the same technique to establish the solidarity of Islam. They are just devout Muslim’s doing the will of Allah, the god of Islam. Hitler proved to be the golden boy of his country by bringing Germany out of great depression and into prominence. So enamored with his charm and viewpoints, he captivated both his nation’s people, as well as supporters from around the world, including Americans and an abdicated King. Little was being shown about the darker side to this entity’s true plans for humanity. The real goal of Germany and Germans at large. It would take war against all humanity before real opposition would begin. But, if more German people had stood up, what then? All the death camps were established outside of German soil. Germans themselves did not directly see all the details.
When the surface looks good, little is shown of the undercurrents. But there were those who saw through the disguise, taking whatever actions they could to make the difference. The Ann Frank’s protectors. Corrie Ten Boom. The ‘underground’ groups throughout Europe. Quietly, silently moving.
    ‘When good people do nothing’.
Our government is showing Americans they want this kind of division. They are for it and developing it.
They are not only encouraging it, they are making it happen. This government is not for America or Americans. They are for something altogether opposite.
I say this now, while there is still time to do on the internet. This government must be stopped. Not the Muslim, or the gays, but the people in office and those who are non-appointed. They are the law makers. They are responsible for what is happening. From the Oval office right down to city councils.
Our Supreme Court is dabbling in matters that are none of their authority to do.
And, make no mistake, the time is here, right now, when take over is possible from within of every single person living in America. The aptly named “Unknown” wrote:

Coming from a Muslim, I don’t get all the hate and insults that we recieve.
      ……………………………….

Notice the false victim-mongering, right from the beginning. Notice that “Unknown” says *nothing* about Muslim hate, insult, and violence or the threats to those who dare leave the creed as did Mona Walter.

Infidels would have no issue whatsoever with Islam were it not for its violence and oppression, and the intent to impose its barbarism on us by force.

      More:

I’ve thoroughly read the Quran and still do daily. The best way for people to understand Islam and its teachings are to actually read the translation themselves! Don’t take other people’s perspective, create your own.
      ……………………………….

Well, I could not agree more. There is no better way to discover the roots of Islamic violence than to read the Qur’an, the Hadith, and the Sira oneself. When I first read the Qur’an, I was utterly shocked at how violent and hateful it was.

If “Unknown” is trying to imply that reading the vicious Qur’an will convince intelligent people that Islam is a “religion of peace”, then he is simply lying.

      More:

Violence is not something that is taught in the Quran, and neither is oppressing women.
      ……………………………….

“Unknown” would have us believe that there is nothing oppressive of women in wife beating, and nothing violent in enjoining Muslims to “kill the unbelievers wherever you find them”. *Ugh*.

There are, of course, hundreds more verses in just this vein.

      More:

The reason that women wear a headscarf or Hijab is that they shouldn’t portray themselves in public so openly. Why pamper yourself up for everyone else but your possible husband?
      ……………………………….

No one has a problem with women voluntarily wearing a headscarf. What “Unknown” does not say is that many women have been murdered for daring to eschew the headscarf, and in many parts of Dar-al-Islam forced veiling is enforced under Shari’ah.

And note that he believes—as does every supremacist Muslim man—that it is up to him to enforce the idea that women should not be allowed to appear openly in public.

      More:

If you have read this full comment thanks for reading a Muslim’s perspective. I hope that this encourages people to RESEARCH from a first-person view.
      ……………………………….

I have indeed. It is nothing but standard Taqiyya and Da’wa—a bald-faced whitewash of the savagery of Islam. It is also depressingly common.

Most people here at Jihad Watch have indeed researched Islam for ourselves, and that is why we stand against Jihad and the imposition of brutal Shari’ah law.

First of all, of my name on here Unknown, this is because I do not want to be harassed of what my name is, and truly means. If some people knew what they thought my name means, then that would start a whole other argument.
When gravenimage puts “kill the unbelievers wherever you find them” in quotes, it sounds like it says this in the Quran. Where in the world did you see that?! Possibly he heard it from a Hadith, well have you ever considered looking for PROPER SOURCES of information. There are so many false claims out there. You want to look at the chain of scholars, if they were trusted. usually if there is a Hadith or anything not from the Quran itself and it doesn’t cite its source, BINGO you’ve got yourself a false saying!
Most of the time people confuse warnings with threats. The misguided people who claim to be Muslims find these warnings in the Quran, and feel like they have to enact the warnings themselves. This does not make them our saviors!
When gravenimage talks about Muslims beating their wives, it makes people think that abusing your mate is permissible in Islam. That Muslims can just go up to their wives and slap away if they make a small error. We do not treat our women as slaves! And when I refer to “we” I am referring to the rightly guided Muslims.
I’m not trying to make a point that I’m a rightly guided Muslim, I’m trying to make a point that people who you see on television, on the Internet, anywhere, that they claim to be Muslim and are committing terrible crimes, such as murder or rape, are “Muslims” who have the wrong idea of everything! All their teachings, they believe that they need to enact punishments on the non-Muslims. We are taught to treat others, including non-Muslims, without disrespect or violence.
Other religions have books to guide them, too. But these books have been vigorously changed and tweaked to please the one who follows it. This is like believing in your own religion all together! The Quran is unchanged, and is protected by our God, Allah (s). The things written in the Quran are purely from Allah (s).
It is not up to Muslims to enforce anything on one another. We are not supposed to force women to wear Hijab, that choice lies with them. But we can attempt to change their thinking. I’m not forcing anyone to research Islam, or anyone to accept Islam, I am merely doing my best to please my Lord.
When I said I didn’t understand why people were throwing insults at us, and hate, I was stating that I didn’t know why some random people, out of the blue, read one or two reports or watch a short segment on false Islam, start hating us, threatening us, they don’t get the picture!
The reason I mentioned “*nothing*” about violence or hate, all that nonsense, when a person leaves Islam, is because true Muslims are not taught to force anything on anyone, as I said before! Sometimes Muslims are angered, and feel that they have to abuse one who leaves Islam, such as Mona Walters, but again, this is not taught to us from the Quran! Abuse, hate, insults, violence, rape, threats, all of these things are not encouraged in Islam.
Lastly, when gravenimage states: “Most people here at Jihad Watch have indeed researched Islam for ourselves, and that is why we stand against Jihad and the imposition of brutal Shari’ah law.” He is stating that people are just against Jihad and Shari’ah, but by the way people talk about Islam, the way they hate it, it sounds like they are against the whole religion, and it’s followers.
The meaning of Jihad is not a Holy War, as people believe it means, but is a struggle, or striving, against sin with ONESELF. The struggle keep oneself from doing wrong, totally different from what many false Muslims are enacting

To Unknown- I have no doubt you are striving to be the best Muslim you can be. But from a contextual point of you, how does a Muslim explain “Kill the infidels wherever you find them” or “Smite the necks of the unbelievers” as is found in the Muslim holy books. And for those Muslims who take those statements literally, and act upon them, do you see any Muslims like yourself telling them to “stop”? I don’t see any Muslims stopping the barbaric, filthy, savages of ISIS, Boko Haram, etc who are interpreting the Muslim Holy books in ways you are not. So, Unknown, God hates the sin, but loves the sinner. The ideology of Islam is sinful, but I do not hate any person, Muslim or otherwise.

        • Unknown says

          May 2, 2015 at 6:17 pm

The ideology you propose of Islam is invalid. “God hates the sin, but loves the sinner.” Yes, God hates sin, and Muslims try to prevent sin from themselves. But where does God loving the sinner come in play? The sinner is one who misinterprets God’s teachings, takes it in another way that is not intended by anyone. Surely, how can God love someone who does things as terrible as the “jihadists” do?
The sayings you supposedly quote from Muslim holy books can not be found. The verse in Sura Al-Tawba that people refer to about killing infidels wherever they are found does NOT refer to the infidels! The verse refers to the Mushriks, the Idolators. This brings a whole different meaning to the verse. Muslims are never instructed to murder infidels.
When people mention infidels instead of idolaters, this proves a point that some people do not thoroughly research before speaking

To Unknown- I do appreciate your prompt response but I have 2 things to point out. First, if God created us (we did not create ourselves) he loves us even though we are sinners. That is the remarkable supernatural mystery of God. Second, I went to 2 Internet websites. They both said that the verses of violence in the Quran that are directed against unbelievers are not restrained to a historical time period, but are ongoing because they show the nature of Allah, who doesn’t change. This is the question I asked: “Where in the Quran does it reveal to do violence to the infidels?” Several verses appeared with explanations.

The controversial imam of a prominent mosque in Arlington, Va., has urged immigrant Muslims in the United States to wage war for Islam.

“The enemies of Allah are lining up. The question for us is, are we lining [up] or are we afraid because they may call us terrorists?” Shaker Elsayed told a crowd of Ethiopian Muslims during a lecture at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Va.

“Let me give you the good news: they are already calling us terrorists anyway. Whether you sitting at home, watching TV, drinking coffee, sleeping or playing with your kids, you are a terrorist because you are a Muslim.”

“Well, give them a run for their money. Make it worth it. Make this title worth it, and be a good Muslim,” said the Cairo-born Muslim.

“Muslim men when it is a price to pay, they are first in line. … They are the first in the community-service line. They are the first in jihad line,” he declared to applause.

I am against all of Islam, Unknown. So count me in here. As for Muslims slaying unbelievers wherever you find them, why not start with Sura 9:5? And then go from there—–for example to Sura 4:89. And let’s not forget those cuddly verses like Sura 8:39 and Sura 8:60, which call for Muslims to fight the unbeliever “until all religion is with Allah” and to “strike terror into the hearts of the unbeliever.” While you’re at it, take a look at Sura 60:4, which instructs that Muslims “hate the unbeliever” until they accept Islam. Also, read carefully that kissy-face, huggy bear Sura, 47:4, which calls upon Mo’s followers to “strike the necks” of unbelievers.

One knows or should know that the Koran is a hate manual. It certainly disallows a true Golden Rule for all (deny this and I will then know you are either 1) ignorant of Islam; or 2) a taqiyya practitioner).

Please go away if all you can offer to very informed readers here at JW only what you have so far. You don’t cut it at all. Not even a close call here. I mean, if you’re going to engage in taqiyya, at least make it interesting. So far you haven’t.

These terms for “infidels”–kaffirs, polytheists, idolaters, mushrikun–are interchangeable. The scholars at Islam Q&A say this, for instance:
“It is forbidden for Muslims to allow any kaafir to enter al-Masjid al-Haraam [in Makkah] and the sacred areas [al-Haram] around it, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “O you who believe! Verily, the Mushrikûn (polytheists) are Najasun (impure). So let them not come near Al-Masjid Al-Harâm (at Makkah) after this year” [al-Tawbah 9:28].” Kaafir and Mushrikun are interchangeable here.

“The kaafir is the one who denies and conceals the truth. The basic meaning of the word kufr in Arabic is concealment. Shirk means devoting worship to anyone or anything other than Allaah. Kufr may take the form of denying and rejecting, but the mushrik may also believe in Allaah. This is the difference between the mushrik and the kaafir. Each word may also carry the meaning of the other, so the word kufr may be used in the sense of shirk, and the word shirk may be used in the sense of kufr.”

“A kaafir may be called a mushrik and a mushrik may be called a kaafir, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And whoever invokes (or worships), besides Allaah, any other ilaah (god), of whom he has no proof; then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely, Al‑Kaafiroon (the disbelievers in Allaah and in the Oneness of Allaah, polytheists, pagans, idolaters) will not be successful”

          [al-Mu’minoon 23:117]
“They (the disbelievers, the Jews and the Christians) want to extinguish Allaah’s Light (with which Muhammad has been sent — Islamic Monotheism) with their mouths, but Allaah will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the Kaafiroon (disbelievers) hate (it).

          33. It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikoon (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allaah) hate (it)”

          [al-Tawbah 9:32-33]

Here Allaah calls the kuffaar kuffaar, and He calls them mushrikeen. This indicates that a kaafir may be called a mushrik and a mushrik may be called a kaafir. There are many similar verses and ahaadeeth.”

          “Majmoo’ Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz, 4/32, 33

The Jews and Christians are both kaafirs and mushrikeen. They are kaafirs because they deny the truth and reject it. And they are mushrikeen because they worship someone other than Allaah.

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And the Jews say: ‘Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allaah, and the Christians say: Messiah is the son of Allaah. That is their saying with their mouths, resembling the saying of those who disbelieved aforetime. Allaah’s Curse be on them, how they are deluded away from the truth!”

          [al-Tawbah 9:30, 31]

Here they are described as mushrikeen. In Soorat al-Bayyinah they are described as kaafirs, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Those who disbelieve from among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) and Al‑Mushrikoon, were not going to leave (their disbelief) until there came to them clear evidence”

          [al-Bayyinah 98:1]

Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) said, refuting those who say that the word mushrikeen cannot be applied to the People of the Book:

It is most likely that the people of the Book are included among the mushrikeen, men and women alike, when this word is used in general terms. because the kuffaar are undoubtedly mushrikeen. Hence they are forbidden to enter al-Masjid al-Haraam, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“O you who believe (in Allaah’s Oneness and in His Messenger Muhammad)! Verily, the Mushrikoon (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allaah, and in the Message of Muhammad) are Najasun (impure). So let them not come near Al‑Masjid Al-Haraam (at Makkah) after this year”

          [al-Tawbah 9:28]

If the People of the Book did not come under the general heading of mushrikeen, then this verse would not apply to them, and Allaah would not have referred to the beliefs of the Jews and Christians in Soorat Baraa’ah (al-Tawbah) where He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“they (Jews and Christians) were commanded [in the Tawraat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] to worship none but One Ilaah (God — Allaah) Laa ilaaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). Praise and glory be to Him (far above is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him)”

So they are all described as mushrikeen, because the Jews said that ‘Uzayr is the son of God and the Christians said that the Messiah is the son of God; and because they took their priests and rabbis as lords instead of Allaah. All of this is the worst form of shirk. And there are many similar verses.”
          http://islamqa.info/en/67626

Now that we have established that we could go into Qur’an 9:5 and 9:29 (which specifies the WAR definitely includes the Jews & Christians) to demonstrate you are: a)lying or b)don’t know what you are talking about– as to how Islam is understood by the CONSENSUS of Islamic scholars for CENTURIES. What you have to say about JIHAD and apostasy and the oppression of women are a bad joke and an insult to the countless victims of this bloodthirsty, hate-inducing cult. What is the one guarantee of Paradise and of the Highest Rung in Paradise in your peaceful, tolerant religion? hint–it’s achieved thru the blood of disbelievers.

My God, *what a horrifying admission* by the vile “Unknown” that Muslims can beat their wives so long as they consider their “errors” significant enough.

And what constitutes a significant error? Why, so much as “fearing” disobedience from them:

          Qur’an 4:34:

“Men are in charge of women by right of what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend for maintenance from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in the husband’s absence what Allah would have them guard. But those wives from whom you fear disobedience – first advise them; then if they persist, forsake them in bed; and finally, strike them. But if they obey you once more, seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand.”

This makes it quite clear that women cannot beat their husbands no matter what errors *they* might make, but husbands may beat their wives if they fear they might disobey them in any way.

And the vile “Unknown” openly condones this barbarism. *Sickening*.

More crap. The fact is that the majority of Muslims agree with the murder of apostates. And why not? The “Prophet” Muhammed said:

“Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.”
          Bukhari 9.84.57

So this is on the model of Islam’s “perfect man”.

          More:

Lastly, when gravenimage states: “Most people here at Jihad Watch have indeed researched Islam for ourselves, and that is why we stand against Jihad and the imposition of brutal Shari’ah law.” He is stating that people are just against Jihad and Shari’ah, but by the way people talk about Islam, the way they hate it, it sounds like they are against the whole religion, and it’s followers.
          ………………………..

Islam enjoins its followers to oppress and murder us. I am against any pious Muslims who take their faith enough to heart to want to follow these tenets. For Muslims to consider this “Islamophobic” just shows that they believe we should just roll over and let Jihadists murder us.

          More:

The meaning of Jihad is not a Holy War, as people believe it means, but is a struggle, or striving, against sin with ONESELF. The struggle keep oneself from doing wrong, totally different from what many false Muslims are enacting
          ………………………..

What carp. The fact is that the vast majority of references in the texts of Islam to Jihad—well over 90%—are to holy war. Only a handful refer to self-struggle.

          More:

The ideology you propose of Islam is invalid. “God hates the sin, but loves the sinner.” Yes, God hates sin, and Muslims try to prevent sin from themselves. But where does God loving the sinner come in play? The sinner is one who misinterprets God’s teachings, takes it in another way that is not intended by anyone. Surely, how can God love someone who does things as terrible as the “jihadists” do?
          ………………………..

Well, of course not. “Hating the sin but not the sinner” is a *Christian* concept. Muslims have no such sense of compassion or mercy.

          More:

The sayings you supposedly quote from Muslim holy books can not be found. The verse in Sura Al-Tawba that people refer to about killing infidels wherever they are found does NOT refer to the infidels! The verse refers to the Mushriks, the Idolators. This brings a whole different meaning to the verse. Muslims are never instructed to murder infidels.

When people mention infidels instead of idolaters, this proves a point that some people do not thoroughly research before speaking
          ………………………..

Firstly, this is hardly the case—the Qur’an, Hadith, and Sira are full of exhortations to murder Infidels. Moreover, though, note that the vile “Unknown” believes that we should be sanguine about Muslims butchering “idolater”. How utterly appalling!

          More:

That’s the thing. You don’t just declare jihad, that, from a misinterpreting person, means to declare “Holy War”. This is not the correct jihad, the real meaning, so there is no present struggle in this act.
          ………………………..

“Unknown” would have us believe that the violent Jihad his pious coreligionists are waging all over the world is just a figment of our imaginations. Really, shouldn’t these Taqiyya artist be trying harder?

To Unknown- I truly have nothing against any human. But please remember this old saying: “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” I am sure the Quran has many passages of good intentions. But it also has over 100 passages directing the good Muslims to commit acts of violence to innocent people who want to live their religion and are not allowed by the Quran. No justice, no peace.

LIAR! I CAN SMELL THE TAQIYYA ON YOUR BREATH FROM HERE!

Muhammad made it clear that he considers idolaters to be those who divide the alleged oneness of “allah” – pagan idolaters held there were more gods than one, and Moe insisted Christians and Jews also qualified, because the Christians split “allah” into a Trinity (of God, Jesus, and Mary) and the Jews insisted someone names “Isra” was also “God!”

Unknown writes: “Coming from a Muslim, I don’t get all the hate and insults that we recieve. I’ve thoroughly read the Quran and still do daily. The best way for people to understand Islam and its teachings are to actually read the translation themselves!”

Like many other commenters here at JW, I’ve put a lot of time and effort into studying Islam.

Indeed, my original “bias” and motivation was to find the good in Islam.

The Islamic texts I’ve studied are not fringe texts written by haters, but the standard, accepted versions.

I did not find a God of Love in Islam.

I did not find a God who keeps his word to Man (Allah is not bound, and does not bind Himself in the way the Judaic and Christian God does).

I did not find a God who rewards dissent, questioning, independence and argument (as the Judaic God does).

I did not find a God of tolerance and forgiveness (as the Christian God practices).

I did not find in Mohammed an example who resembles either Jesus or Moses.

If you have an understanding of Islam, the Koran and the Hadith, that opposes the ideas of: violent Jihad, forced conversion, the plunder and enslavement of the Kafir, the death penalty for apostates, the unity of Mosque & State, and the imposition of Jizyah on the People of the Book — to name a few of the problematic parts of Islam, I would like to read more about it.

Also, I would like to invite you to read the standard texts of the Bibles — both New Testament, and Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) in order to compare their teachings and examples with those of the Koran and the Hadith. I think you’ll find a a very distinct and thought-provoking contrast.

Are you able to recommend a website or publication which details your understanding of Islam? I am always open to learning more.

      Thanks.

I don’t believe it’s really possible to properly understand either the Old or the New Testament, without some understanding of the Greek Thinkers — at least Socrates/Plato and Aristotle — with their emphasis on man’s Reason.

The Bible was inspired by God, written by about 40 people spanning about 1500 years It’s wrters included Kings, fishermen from vastly differently cultures and different ages.. and they are in perfect harmony in the message from the first book to the last book. The Scribes, Elders in the church added any books to the bible on PROPER scrutiny of the writings.I believe God’s “hand” was on them. Some Bible books need historical facts/details to understand the Bible better. e.g: Revelations, Acts, Daniel and so on .The Great thinkers you have mentioned may have been influenced by the Greek old testament but you do not have to be tuned into their mindset to understand the Bible. That is little too far fetched…

Quoting from the report — “Now she has left Islam and is called an “Islamophobe” and worse”

    — Robert Spencer asks the searingly apt rhetorical questions:

What should she have done? Stayed in a religion she disliked and believed to be false so as to avoid threats and opprobrium? What should she do now? Stay silent for fear of charges of “Islamophobia” that inevitably come to everyone who dares utter a critical word about Islam and jihad?

Or She could have opted for the weaselly way out, as did the Charlie Hebdo artist Rénald “Luz” Luzier:

“I will no longer draw the figure of Mohammed. It no longer interests me,”

    http://www.jihadwatch.org/2015/04/top-charlie-hebdo-cartoonist-luz-says-will-no-longer-draw-muhammad

As a Jihad Watch regular (ECAW) nailed it at the time:

“If he had said “I am afraid for my life and my family” we would all understand and applaud his honesty but pretending that he has just lost interest in the subject- that won’t wash.”

Yet, I understand how people who grow up in Islam are the way they are. But converts who out of nowhere become homicidal? That tells me that the Koran turns people in sociopaths. Or maybe they were before but felt the need to have a “religion” that blesses their urges to murder and rape.

The spread of Islamism and extreme teaching of Wahhabism exported from Saudi Arabia straight to the Somali or other non Arabic speaking Muslim communities in Europe and Africa is leading many secular Muslims to abandon their religion. I am not surprise about this “every action there is a reaction”. About 20yrs ago Somalis used to fellow secular Sufism, women didn’t cover their arm or hair but now many of them wear head veils and Burka and the others who don’t probably get treated un-Islamic, this is leading anger and frustration to some people and some people are leaving the faith. Some educated intelligent people are saying something is wrong here because this is not the way we were brought up also people are seeing the light of other faiths and cultures. It is good she liberated herself and I hope others do the same.

I have to agree with Firebug. Justin and Peggy, in the few comments of theirs that I did read, appear to be doing nothing more than pointing out that the western governments, especially the US has sided with the muslim cause on numerous occasions, even before Obama’s ‘reign’.

The only sentiments that their statements indicate are those of pessimism and skepticism (again directed at the US government). I find myself agreeing with many of their statements, that does not mean I am or they are undercover muslims.

      This thread:

What absolute crap. For one thing, Mona Walter was *already in Sweden* when she left Islam. Moreover, she recognized the evil of Islam and left it before she discovered Christianity.

If this was done for “mercenary” reasons, why wouldn’t she have simply converted to Christianity directly?

And the whole false argument falls apart when you realize that contemporary Sweden is no more likely to grant Swedish nationality to a Christian than they are an atheist, and no more likely to grant Swedish nationality to an atheist than a Muslim.

Whether this policy is wise is, of course, a separate issue.

The idea that Ms. Walter’s coming to Christianity was a cynical bit of calculation simply makes no sense.

And “Anonymous'” exhortation for us to read the Qur’an is absurd—most people at Jihad Watch have indeed read the Qur’an and the other vicious texts of Islam.

in fact, it was reading the Qur’an and discovering just how shocking it is in its violence that first convinced me that it was not just “extremist Muslims” who were the problem, but the entire creed of Islam.

Everything I have learned since just underscores this fact. I imagine this is true for most people here.

To Anonymous- I see Champ and gravenimage called you out and I will add my 2 cents as well. First, Sweden’s immigration policy does not require any document about religion, it requires proof of identity like a passport or an official certificate with a photo ID. Problem is: Somalia is a country with such a corrupt government administration that Somalian passports are looked upon by other countries as INVALID. And to give another true fact about Somalia, it is listed in my Dorling Kindersley Atlas as a country with a 100% MUSLIM POPULATION! So I conclude that the Muslim administrators are not only corrupt, but inept! Second, why should I read the Quran when it is a book that has so many violent nasty verses, according to what many Muslims say! Now if you, Anonymous, are unable to locate those verses of violence, I suggest you call 1-800- ISIS- BEHEADS. Have a pleasant day.
