This was in Jimmy Carter Georgia, not Soviet Georgia. Abdul Wakil Khalil is another convert to Islam. Where and how did he come to subscribe to an understanding of Islam that the President, the Vice President, the Secretary of State, the Prime Minister of Great Britain and a host of others assure us has nothing whatsoever to do with Islam? Is anyone checking out his mosque? Or would that be “Islamophobic”?
“FBI: Georgia man was ready to fight for ISIS,” WSB-TV, May 27, 2015:
ATLANTA — A man arrested by the FBI at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport pleaded guilty Wednesday to trying to join the terror group ISIS.
Channel 2 investigative reporter Mark Winne broke the story Wednesday afternoon. He was the only reporter inside the federal courthouse in Augusta to witness the guilty plea.
Winne also confirmed there are other open investigations into other homegrown terrorists in Georgia.
Leon Nathan Davis III is the first arrest in Georgia of an American citizen trying to travel overseas to join the terror group.
Davis, also known as Abdul Wakil Khalil or Abu Hurairah Al Amreekee, wore a jail jumpsuit as he appeared before the judge.
FBI assistant special agent-in-charge Angela Tobon told Winne that Davis wanted to join ISIS and was willing to do whatever they need, including teaching or fighting.
Tobon says the FBI has been watching Davis for more than a year. He was arrested by Atlanta police on a parole violation warrant at the airport on Oct. 24, 2014.
Tobon said Davis was attempting to check in at the counter to fly to Turkey and from Turkey he was going to be smuggled into Syria.
Winne asked if there are more people in Georgia attempting to join ISIS.
“That’s a very hard answer, but it’s also an easy answer. ISIS has done such a tremendous job recruiting westerners, targeting westerners through social media that unfortunately we don’t know how many there are, but yes I am certain there are others,” Tobin [sic] said….
Why have they done such a tremendous job recruiting Westerners, Agent Tobon? Oh yeah, that’s a question you’re not allowed to answer.
