This is the kind of thing that before too long we will see in the U.S., courtesy the political and media elites that refuse to confront and oppose those who violently enforce Sharia, and instead attack those who do oppose them.
“Radical Islamists jailed after chopping off Indian teacher’s hand for perceived blasphemy,” 9news.com.au, May 11, 2015:
A group of Islamists responsible for chopping off an Indian teacher’s hand after they incorrectly believed he had used the name of the Prophet Mohamed in an exam question have been jailed.
TJ Joseph, a professor in Kerala at the Thodupuzha Newman college, was arrested by local police and received multiple death threats in April 2010 after using a passage from a Malayalam film screenplay, which featured a conversation between God and a character named Muhammed, in an exam for his undergraduate students.
But the passage used by the Bachelor of Commerce professor actually depicted a conversation between God and a fictional character called Muhammed, named after the film director, P.T. Kunju Muhammed – rather than the Islamic Prophet.
Mr Joseph said he named the character after the director and did not realise people might believe the common name was in reference to the Prophet.
Despite his claims, he was attacked by 13 men from the radical organisation the Popular Front of India in July that year.
The attackers hacked his right hand off during the incident.
The men have now been convicted and handed sentences between three and eight years of jail time, The Independent has reported.
A Kerala court later exonerated the teacher of the charge that he had offended religious sentiments, according to The Hindu Times.
