Jihad Watch

Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Meet the bravest woman in America

May 15, 2015 12:38 pm By Robert Spencer

GellerSpencerThe Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest that Pamela Geller and I organized and hosted in Garland, Texas on May 3, along with the jihad attack upon it, has become a defining issue. It has led to a national conversation about the nature of the freedom of speech, its importance, and what should or should not be its limits. It has exposed many people who appeared to be strong defenders of freedom to be cowards and appeasers. It has revealed that many key media players and people in powerful positions of authority have no idea of the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat, and no awareness of the war on free speech — much less any understanding of why the freedom of speech matters at all. It has demonstrated that many important opinion-makers neither appreciate nor value the freedom of speech, and don’t even really grasp what it is. It has likewise revealed others to be unexpectedly strong defenders of freedom. Some people I had thought were strong-minded and open-eyed have proved to be cowardly and blinkered. Other people I had suspected were trimmers and appeasers have shone brightly in their honesty and courage on this issue.

Those who have defended free speech in the wake of the jihad attack while heaping scorn upon Pamela Geller, and those who have fastidiously tried to protect themselves from the Left’s inevitable guilt-by-association smears by throwing in a line like, “Now mind you, I don’t agree with everything Pamela Geller says,” or “Now of course Pamela Geller’s approach is not something I agree with” or some such, quite simply disgust me. Pamela Geller has more clear-sighted awareness of the threat this nation faces, and more courage and resoluteness in facing it, than anyone in America today — especially those who are sitting in their armchairs today and sniffing at her for being “outrageous” and “provocative” while she has to live the rest of her life knowing that at any moment some jihadi maniac will try to get to his virgins by killing her. Yet people are acting these days as if she was the one with the AK-47 outside our event, or as if there would be no jihad threat against America were it not for her and for our Muhammad cartoon contest.

They won’t be able to keep up this denial much longer. It simply won’t be possible. The Islamic State has issued a detailed manual for jihad terror attacks and regular bloodshed in the streets of the United States and the nations of Western Europe. That is coming. To cower and say, “We won’t draw cartoons, we won’t do anything to offend you” not only will not stop this from coming, but it will embolden the jihadis, who always step up their game when they see weakness in their prey.

They see weakness in the U.S. That’s because the U.S. is weak. Not militarily, but societally. Culturally. Fewer and fewer people understand and value the principles upon which a free society is based. Fewer and fewer people are willing to stand to defend those principles. Cowards, trimmers, appeasers and open allies of the enemies of freedom abound.

Pamela Geller is standing for freedoms upon which the free world depends. That so few of power and influence are standing with her shows how severe the crisis really is.

These days are revealing many who were thought to be true to be false, and many who were thought to be false to be true. As a defender of freedom, Pamela Geller is the truest of the true. It is my immense honor to work with her, and to call her my friend.

“Meet the bravest woman in America,” by Joseph Farah, WND, May 15, 2015:

She’s been caricatured.

She’s been verbally tarred and feathered.

She’s been vilified, reviled, smeared, defamed and disparaged.

But something keeps Pam Geller going. Do you know what it is? It’s her love for her country and her passion for liberty.

For weeks now, I’ve been watching my friend Pam Geller taking media punches from the left and right for her private event in Garland, Texas, featuring Geert Wilders, another freedom fighter – an event attacked by armed jihadists who have determined to “slaughter” Pam Geller for her campaign to expose radical Islam’s vicious worldwide crusade against freedom, against women, against Jews, against Christians, against life and against everything but its own peculiar seventh-century view of the world.

Bill O’Reilly had the audacity to accuse Geller of “spurring” the attack with her event promoting freedom of speech.

Really?

So by criticizing a worldwide movement responsible for the ongoing genocide against Christians in the Middle East, the subjugation of women, a pattern of female genital mutilation, the ruthless beheading and crucifying and burning alive of its victims, she was spurring the attack? She was inviting it? She was goading them? Her motivation was to serve as a catalyst to an attack on her and her event?

Donald Trump said essentially the same thing, as did the New York Times and most of the handwringing media elite.

Others were satisfied to call Geller an Islamophobe.

That’s a good one. That’s rich.

This made-up word denotes someone who fears Islam. That’s hardly the case with Geller. It’s probably much more true of Geller’s most vocal critics, who, I suggest, think they buy cover from the violent Islamic radicals by bashing their enemies.

Join Pamela Geller in her fight to retain free-speech rights and the uniquely American culture — read “Stop The Islamization Of America: A Practical Guide to the Resistance”

Have you ever wondered by so many leftists are soft on Shariah? Leftists say they support everything that Islam detests – “gay rights,” women’s rights, free expression, peace on earth. But they watch tacitly as Islam runs roughshod over their entire agenda. What gives?

Ultimately, it comes down to the left’s ideological commitment to “multiculturalism,” which began as a back-door assault against Western values and morphed into a war with Judeo-Christian ethics, America and Israel. Suddenly, they found common ground with the barbarians who behead anyone doesn’t lie prostrate before Allah five times a day.

Geller is no Islamophobe, a term which suggests cowardice. That’s a laugh. She’s probably the bravest women in America today.

It’s her critics who are the cowards.

Some of them, I am convinced, are even motivated to criticize her because they fear being associated with her strong stand against hatred, against murder, against torture, against rape and against their unholy war. Perhaps they believe they might be spared the kind of abuse and attacks she has experienced by creating a little space between Geller and themselves. Good luck with that! Radical Islam makes no distinctions between courageous enemies and cowardly ones. It doesn’t discriminate in its scorched-earth policies. They even murder Muslims who disagree with them about the chain of command after Muhammad died.

So throw out the Islamophobe term. It has lost its usefulness, if, indeed, it ever had any.

I’m with Pam Geller. I’m no Islamophobe. It’s just that when I see murder and torture and rape and genocide, I feel compelled to speak out about it, to resist it and to call evil what it is. I don’t know any other way. And neither does Pam Geller.

And that’s why I’m proud to call her my friend.

That’s why she’s the bravest woman in America.

And that’s why she needs and deserves the support of all freedom-loving Americans.

Hello Charlie —- Yes, without any doubt or dispute. I wrote the same thing (our entire planet included) even before the Garland jihadi attack.

AND NOW, AS A COMMENTER OBSERVED SEVERAL DAYS AGO, there is a hole in the dike that formerly held a sea of truth about Muhammad. There a more holes every week . . . the struggle for awareness is far from over, but I honestly believe there will be NO GOING BACKWARDS.

We have seen Robert put up at lease three posts on JW by persons who are exposing hypocrites and liars as the fools that they are. Other truth-tellers are sure to come along on the road to published enlightenment.

PAM ACCOMPLISHED A RE-CHANNELING OF THE “NARRATIVE” — BECAUSE SHE PUTS AMERICAN FREEDOM AHEAD OF DAILY THREATS TO HER LIFE.

If they ever tell my story, let them say I walked with giants. Men rise and fall, like the winter wheat, but these names will never die. Let them say I lived in the time of Robert Spencer, teller of Truth. Let them say I lived in the time of Pamela Geller.

Very well said Stendec. I posted similar thoughts on the 17th. Just not as you did so eloquently.

    Robert,

It is decidedly helpful having the battle joined. Who stands for free speech and who doesn’t. Vital information in knowing where the battle lines are located. And knowing who the appeasers are; they canNOT be trusted.

The faux First Amendment Brigade – “i believe in free speech, but” – lets us know who among us are patriots. When it comes to protected freedoms. there is NO “but” to be tolerated. Too many butt heads simply don’t understand that. You, Pam, Geert, and others are doing such an invaluable service in flushing out the faux defenders of freedom and the left generally.

I stand with Pamela and Robert. Their names will go down in history with the likes of Patrick Henry and those who fought fought for individual freedoms and liberty. The event if Garland, Texas has separated the men from the boys. We know leaders of the conservative movement cannot be the likes of Donald Trump or Chris Christie. The voice of the conservative movement cannot be the likes of Bill O’Reilly and Laura Ingram. Only those willing to stand up for the truth, our constitution, and freedom of speech without limits are up to the task.

CPAC 2016 will be the acid test for the conservative movement and its strength to resist statist/corporate/Republican pandering to Islam. Will Breitbart, CNS and tens of millions of liberty-loving Americans be more important to the American Conservative Union than the dollars of corrupt influence. If Robert and Pamela are not offered a prime in-building platform to speak on this past year’s events, I’m finished until a 3rd party political movement rises to embrace them.

Maajid Nawaz? The Maajid Nawaz who just enthusiastically endorsed Cathy Young’s sinister and defamatory attack on Pamela Geller and me? He’s a freedom fighter hero? He must do it very…subtly.

I do have respect for Maajid Nawaz, but I confess I was surprised to see his name ranked among the others. He’s more like Irshad Manji and Zuhdi Jasser — the rare honest reformers who acknowledge Islam’s inherent problems. I think they face terribly uphill battles, but their eyes are at least open. I don’t know how Nawaz responded to the Garland event.

On another track: Sam Harris (a true freedom fighter) and Nawaz have debated the future of Islam in a book to be published in October. I’m looking forward to this one.

Their problem is our problem. Their problem is every freedom-lover’s problem. We need to support them any way we can. Some of us need to support them financially. Others need to dedicate our lives to scan Twitter, FB, and other social media for dangerous individuals and impending attacks and forewarn Robert / Pamela’s security team.

And there is one more very important thing that we need to do- Figure out ways to make the masses SEE that what Robert, Pamela, and other freedom fighters are doing, is good for everyone and that their work should be supported.

Yes, indeed, Pamela Geller is brave as well as courageous. She also must be a person of much conviction and fortitude the take a stand and expose the truth about the many evils of Islam with its brutal violence of its militant jihad, . This strong conviction and fortitude does bring to mind the wise words of Thomas Jefferson. For Mr. Jefferson stated “A conviction that we are right accomplishes half the difficulty of correcting wrong.” and ‘Fortitude…teaches us to surmount difficulties; not to fly from them.” Moreover the wisdom of Mr. Jefferson may also apply to the righteous goal of getting the truth out to the public. For Mr. Jefferson also declared “Our part then is to pursue with steadiness what is right…assured that the public approbation will in the end be with us.” So, may God protect and bless Pamela Geller.

The voices against Islam are growing slowly here, but they’re growing thank goodness. People I know are reading & studying more about Islam than at any time before & they have now realised where the love of violence, rape & death comes from. From an article I wrote in Pamela’s defense and submitted to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune yesterday:

And the Muhammad cartoon event she staged in Garland was itself a reaction to an Islamic provocation – a “Stand With The Prophet” conference Muslims held in that same venue only ten days after the Charlie Hebdo massacre. Geller organized a demonstration at that event that drew a substantial crowd – and upon learning that the center at which it was held was open for rental, booked it for her own.

It is that kind of chutzpah that’s really at the root of the reaction against Geller: her refusal to keep to her place at what the New York Times pundit David Brooks condescendingly calls “the kids’ table.” “The people who read Le Monde or the establishment organs are at the adults’ table,” he sniffed in a column two days after the Paris atrocity. “The jesters, the holy fools and people like Ann Coulter and Bill Maher are at the kids’ table. … Healthy societies … grant different standing to different sorts of people. … People who want be heard attentively have to earn it through their conduct.”

Ah – Geller’s conduct. And, of course, her style – which is a bit déclassé for the likes of David Brooks and his establishment organ’s editorial board. The big hair. The bangles. The brashness. The – oh, God – the accent. Noo Yawk working-class – definitely not our kind, dear!

Hence the visceral antipathy toward Pamela Geller – a loose cannon who takes on the shibboleths of the snooty crowd at the “adults’ table” and doesn’t know her place. But Geller is no holy fool — she is a courageous lady with the guts to confront the menace of a combative creed, at no small physical risk. And her “provocative” event – a cartoon contest! – exposed a new mode of Islamic terrorism we can expect to see more of in the future: home-grown jihadists roused to violent action by social-media communications from overseas.

    We are in her debt.

O’Reilly single-handedly destroyed his own reputation for “the spin stops here” and his other bullshit about “watching out for the folks.” He demonstrated beyond doubt that he is the one who is truly “stupid.” He revealed himself to be nothing more than a pompous, narcissistic bloviator who is a coward at heart. Not only didn’t he have the balls to actually have Geller on his show, but later when, in his supreme arrogance, he ran a poll about who his viewers supported and he got slammed, he refused to release the poll results. How anyone could watch this fool ever again and credit anything he says is utterly beyond me. I and my wife used to watch him almost daily. His audience is now down by two and I don’t think we are the only two.

The only good moment in this sad and tawdry O’Reilly episode was watching Megyn Kelly take the bloviator apart on his own show. When he put forward his moronic comment that it was “stupid” to offend an entire religion, Kelly, without a nanosecond’s delay, exploded and shot back with: “You know what else offends them, Bill? Jews. Jows offend them. What should we do? Get rid of all the Jews?” The look on his face is one that I will enjoy forever. She completely shut him down and his only response was to mumble something like “well, I would have done it differently,” and switch topics.

I predict that Kelly’s ratings will now go up even more quickly than they have and I think O’Reilly will pay dearly for his calumny and cowardice.

With you on O’Reilly, Clearsighted, and with you on Kelly. The former did indeed disgrace himself (Laura Ingraham did too) and I shall never think the same of him unless he fully and completely admits (which he never will) that he was wrong for criticizing Geller. As for Kelly (Hannity I think too) she is increasingly “getting it” about Islam. She’s not fully there yet but she’s still way ahead of O’Reilly who is so hung up on being “fair and balanced” that he has descended into tu quoque reasoning often times, never more so than with Geller.

      May 15, 2015 at 8:08 pm

I agree. O’Reilly is a huge disappointment with the Jihad. The danger of it is that half of America watches him. I watched him nightly too until the last few weeks when I could no longer take anymore of his defending the “religion of peace.”

O’Reilly misleads Americans into thinking we have nothing to fear, as long as we don’t offend the “tiny minority of extremists who are hijacking an otherwise great and noble religion.” And as long as we can get rid of the ISIS kooks, we can live in peace with the “majority of Muslims who are peace living people, just like the rest of us.”

For starters, ISIS aren’t kooks. They’re perfect role model Muslims just doing what their book tells them to do, and what their prophet modeled for them. Secondly, ISIS is regarded by millions as the new World order. The Caliphate for all. So it’s not just a problem over there. ISIS is a problem everywhere.

The Left are always stupid about it, but O’Reilly fools the rest of American Conservatives, who are the only ones who could rise up to confront Islam, if they knew the truth about it.

Hannity and Kelly are starting to get it. I spend most of my time watching them, King of Queens, and Gunsmoke.

But as evil as ISIS is right now, particularly to the thousands they’re slaughtering, the biggest problem facing humanity now is Iran. Some Intel analysts believe they already have at least one bomb, but they’re waiting to amass dozens of them and perfect the ICBM technology before unleashing Armageddon. Iran’s nuke capacity needed to be destroyed yesterday. We certainly don’t have time to wait until 20JAN2017.

Bibi Netanyahu is on record a couple of years ago saying if Israel had to fight Iran conventionally in a one on one war, Israel could at best delay stall Iran’s nuke weapons by two years. This means he knows one of two things must happen: 1. Israel must form an enormous alliance with other warfighting nations who are willing to join Israel in a conventional war against Iran. Or, 2. Israel must use is own nuke weapons to permanently destroy Iranian nuke production capacity.

I don’t see a while lot of countries rushing to team up with Israel, do you? Not even my own country, America, I’m so ashamed to say. So that leaves option #2.

Thank God Bibi’s in chargeover there. Right now, he’sthe only man standing between a Free World and 1000 years of darkness. Bibi’s no idiot, he knows what must happen here.

Netanyahu, by definition, means “God has given.” I believe God has given Bibi the authority, resources, and Free Will to destroy Satan’s Islamic wrath. He’s the chosen man; our David fighting Goliath. May God be with him, and may we all stand beside him, giving him our full, unrestricted support.

I’ve never been to Israel, but as a committed Christian, who studies & believes the Bible, I support Israel wholeheartedly (to the extent that I wear a star of David). I’ve read that Saudi Arabia has declared its skies open to Israeli aircraft to reach Iran, but I don’t think Israel will nuclear-bomb Iran, partly because the prevailing winds will carry fallout to Saudi Arabia and contaminate their large desalination plant. Does anybody know where & how to check on the truth of this?

The Left are always stupid about it, but O’Reilly fools the rest of American Conservatives…

I too was disgusted with the O’Reilly/Ingraham performance. I expected as much from O’Reilly, who is just as cowardly and wrong about political economics, but always self-congratulatory and pompous as if it’s so obvious that his version is correct and isn’t it all so obvious.

That O’Reilly is so popular is disturbing, if the conservative people in the audience buy into this guys perpetual nonsense on nearly everything, what is our outlook.

“I’m just a simple man…” … define simple. “… looking out for the folks…” to make still more money off your TV show and your ghost-written books… “and I won’t put up with any spin here… which is turnspeak, it’s all spin, that’s why you interrupt people trying to answer your question because the interruption was deserved because they were avoiding the question you stopped them from answering… “… and I went to Harvard….” which proves how stupid *you* are, moron, we’ve been subjected to a decades long procession of Ivy League Morons doing the wrong thing, and btw you went to the Kennedy School of Gov’t which is a vanity operation for those too stupid to get a real degree.

At least Ingraham has an excuse for her stupidity, she went to Yale.

I certainly think there is a lot of that, but I also believe some of them are envious of her. They know that they don’t have the courage that she does and so they have to lash out at her and bring her down a notch. They know that she is the person they wished they were and will never be.

I was amazed how many people at some of the conservative blogs had to throw in a dig at Pamela before agreeing with her. I let them know how cheap it was.

Great article and I totally agree except on one point. The word “Islamophobia” is real – we have a right to be phobic about Islam – they want to kill us. So it doesn’t matter if you are brave or cowardly you should be phobic about Islam. Doesn’t mean you cannot fight it, but Islamophobia is real and it is justified.

I think that any Christian woman is not afraid of Islam (using that fear to exercise sensible precautions, like not dating or marrying a Muslim) and who does not speak out against it – that woman risks losing the freedoms we have as Christian western women.

Healthy fear can motivate us to do what must be done.

        May 16, 2015 at 11:13 am

Healthy fear is in short supply these days. For example, the administration last week announced that tens of thousands of Syrian and Iraqui Moslems will be legally imported into the United States. What they seek refuge from is not said, which is another manipulation of the law as happens with all manner of laws in this country, like with the H-1B law, which is a total scam done in the name of cheap compliant labor. The refugee immigration law should be struck down, but we lack the healthy fear (and skepticism) to do it.

The debate it has sparked world wide at a time when Islamists are becoming more bold and daring on foreign soils was perfectly timed.

The normally politically correct and weak willed Australian Government which is normally terrified of upsetting minorities, especially Islam, is now preparing to deport all Terrorists and Hate Speech individuals who speak out against Australia.

I many not agree to everything that is done by Geller to “protect” freedom but clearly the Christian “leaders” are clueless about the ways to stand up to the bullies from Islam. Do you respect the one who comes to kill you/your family? or ransack your house? Oh there are only a few who are bad in Islam is the retort. Now how about acknowledging the fact that few at the top(of Islam) are micro managing Islam as all muslims believe that Islam will conquer the world.(as they have been brainwashed by Koran teaching clerics etc)

The obvious point is Islam is the source of much of terror problem. Have the Christian leaders done any justice to this societal disorder In the West? For that matter have the “leaders” done any justice to any individual at all? Is any one willing to respect a traitor and conniver of terror organizations? God wants justice and not cowardice, as cowards will be eternally condemned (Rev 21:8)

In the UK there are pockets of Muslims in many towns in the Midlands region who control a large number of seats in Parliament. As a result the political leaders of most UK Political Parties will kow tow to the principle that Islam is the Religion of Peace, when it so obviously is not.
How many terrorist incidents must occur before people wake up and smell the daisies. Most of the armed insurections that are in the World are aiming at putting the the Extremeists of the Religion of Peace in the driving seat. Nigeria, Somalia, Thailand, Chechnia, Syria, Iraq, Chad, Kenya, Gaza are but a few examples. These are the Extremists. Listen to Muslim Radio in any country and where are the comdemnations of Honour Killings, Female genital mutilation, Forced marriage, and the denigration of Jews and Christians? The answer? Nowhere!!
But we are told that if we draw attention to such matters WE are being Islamophobic! A bit more Islamophobia from those our Leaders call moderate Islamists would be most welcome. Too many “moderates” stay very quiet when their co-religionists perpitrate yet another outrage against Civilised standards.

Only in countries where Muslims enjoy full spectrum of rights and freedoms they feel free to get away and take the reins.

Geller a modern day Joan of Arc! Teaming up with JW’s Robert Spencer has widen the span of exposure of Islam’s mindset; that to see the demise of other religions, transforming them to the Muslim/Islam culture!

This present gathering of storm war clouds is somewhat prophetic…..for the late Bishop Fulton J. Sheen (1895-1974) wrote (all excerpts come from his ‘Mary and the Moslem’ book) about this manifestation reality. A link to his book@:

    http://www.ignatiusinsight.com/features2009/fsheen_maryandislam__jun09.asp

“At the present time, the hatred of the Moslem countries against the West is becoming a hatred against Christianity itself.”

Here he tell us more about what our leaders current state of mind are:

“Although the statesmen have not yet taken it into account, there is still grave danger that the temporal power of Islam may return and, with it, the menace that it may shake off a West which has ceased to be Christian, and affirm itself as a great anti-Christian world power.”

    The Muslim’s planned affirmed objective:

“Moslem writers say, ‘When the locust swarms darken vast countries, they bear on their wings these Arabic words: ‘We are God’s host, each of us has ninety-nine eggs, and if we had a hundred, we should lay waste the world with all that is in it.”

Bishop Sheen continues to offer his firm belief that the outcome will be different from our fears:

“The problem is, how shall we prevent the hatching of the hundredth egg? It is our firm belief that, the fears some entertain concerning the Moslems are not to be realized, but that Moslemism, instead, will eventually be converted to Christianity — and in a way that even some of our missionaries never suspect. It is our belief that this will happen not through the direct teaching of Christianity, but through a summoning of the Moslems to a veneration of the Mother of God. This is the line of argument:”

A side note: JW’s Robert Spencer wrote an article(*) about Sister Dogan’s quest to spread the truth of what the aims are for the Islamic nation future. She brings a lot of Intel to the table. I would like to see a Spencer-Geller-Dogan consortium. Sister Dogan besides providing important info she would bring to all, because of her professed oath of faith to our Creator, our God, by which she has been vested with extra graces and protection to those that continue their succesful quest to do what is righteous!

From her protests against the ‘Ground Zero mosque’, the retaliatory advertisements on buses and trains throughout the US, challenging the transport authorities in the courts for refusing to run those ads – and winning, and the Draw Muhammad Art Contest in Texas, Pamela Geller certainly is the bravest woman in America.

Everyone should read Pamela’s book, ‘Stop the Islamization of America’. The book is well written, easy to read, and contains a wealth of information about the methods Islamists use to infiltrate Western societies, and ingratiate themselves with the authorities. It exposes the devious tactics of the Muslim Brotherhood, and the threats to our democratic freedoms. The book confirms everything I’ve ever learned about Islam over the last half century or so, and provides answers to many issues which I did not fully understand.

Pamela has succeeded where the nations leaders have failed to protect their citizens. May she have many more victories.
