The U.S. government’s official position is that the Islamic State’s ideology has absolutely nothing to do with Islam, and that the Muslims who join it know and care little or nothing about their religion, and that the overwhelming majority of Musims reject and are repulsed by its understanding and practice of Islam.
And now Mike Rogers tells us that this nauseating and un-Islamic perversion of Islam is “increasingly resonating” with Muslims in the U.S. How and why that is happening, he apparently did not explain, and no one seems to have asked him about it.
And so the yawning canyon of cognitive dissonance grows ever larger.
“NSA director says ISIS ideology ‘increasingly resonating’ with Americans,” by Wesley Bruer, CNN, May 11, 2015 (thanks to Lookmann):
(CNN)The head of U.S. Cyber Command said Monday that the ability of ISIS to recruit adherents online is “a trend that is clearly increasing, not decreasing” and that the terror group’s ideology is “increasingly resonating” with Americans.
Adm. Mike Rogers, director of the National Security Agency, also said that the terror group’s recent efforts to use cyber capabilities as a weapons system rather than only for recruiting and spreading ideology is a “great concern” to the NSA….

The government is presenting a BOWDLERIZED version of Islam. They have gone through the texts of Islam, chopped out the beheadings, rapes, genocides and plunderings and they tell us the expurgated is the morally uplifting version.
But it is not the foundational Islam…young Muslims aren’t buying this misrepresentation…neither are we.
TediNeo98 says
They must think we’re stupid…seriously. Another article I’ve been reading:http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/5720/muslim-persecution-christians
Let this be a very loud warning to ALL Muslims-don’t think for a moment you have this war won. You are sadly mistaken-we are waiting for you, more prepared than you will ever know.

Precisely, mortimer. As Raymond Ibrahim wrote:
http://www.jihadwatch.org/2015/05/raymond-ibrahim-islams-reformation-is-already-here-and-its-called-isis
“throughout most of its history, Islam’s scriptures, specifically its “twin pillars,” the Koran (literal words of Allah) and the Hadith (words and deeds of Allah’s prophet, Muhammad), were inaccessible to the overwhelming majority of Muslims. Only a few scholars, or ulema—literally, “they who know”—were literate in Arabic and/or had possession of Islam’s scriptures. The average Muslim knew only the basics of Islam, or its “Five Pillars.”
In this context, a “medieval synthesis” flourished throughout the Islamic world. Guided by an evolving general consensus (or ijma‘), Muslims sought to accommodate reality by, in medieval historian Daniel Pipes’ words,
This vulnerability has now reached breaking point: millions of more Korans published in Arabic and other languages are in circulation today compared to just a century ago; millions of more Muslims are now literate enough to read and understand the Koran compared to their medieval forbears. The Hadith, which contains some of the most intolerant teachings and violent deeds attributed to Islam’s prophet—including every atrocity ISIS commits, such as beheading, crucifying, and burning “infidels,” even mocking their corpses—is now collated and accessible, in part thanks to the efforts of Western scholars, the Orientalists. Most recently, there is the Internet—where all these scriptures are now available in dozens of languages and to anyone with a laptop or iphone.
In this backdrop, what has been called at different times, places, and contexts “Islamic fundamentalism,” “radical Islam,” “Islamism,” and “Salafism” flourished. Many of today’s Muslim believers, much better acquainted than their ancestors with the often black and white teachings of their scriptures, are protesting against earlier traditions, are protesting against the “medieval synthesis,” in favor of scriptural literalism“

I share the observation that Muslims haven’t read their own books. At the beginning of the counterjihad, many Muslims wrote into the counterjihad blogs and shouted, ‘LIARS! THIS IS ALL FALSE…IT IS NOT IN ISLAM!’
That was when all the quotes came from the hadiths, Koran and Sira. Generally, today, Muslims are not much more knowledgeable about Islam.
Many Muslims have quit Islam in shock after reading the source texts for the first time.

It’s almost amusing how the US government, a bunch of filthy kuffar (mostly), defines Islam for Mahoundians…They get away with it because of the useful idiot syndrome…Kuffar who have taken up independent study, know there is a whole lot of shucking and jiving going on at the elitist level…
mortimer says
To swami: It’s pathetic. However, I believe their oil sheikhs are telling them what to think and what to say.
The government of the United States has declared war on anyone who knows what’s in the Islamic texts and publicizes them.
Obama and his useful idiots think they are saving the world with their lies, but the evidence is they have made matter worse by encouraging the jihadists and the Saudis who created Salafism, the basis of jihadism.
The Saudis are now at risk of being overthrown by the jihadists they themselves created and educated to become conscienceless mass killers.
Bartender says
The more they say “ISIS has nothing to do with Islam” the quicker this explosion of the numbers of terrorists will accelerate as it emboldens the moderates to think they can do what ever they want. When they feel so emboldened the Jihad message becomes more feasible and thus more attractive.
The “ISIS has nothing to do with Islam” message fuels the Jihad Ideology because it is seen as the fruits of success and the power of Islam and Muslims to control the society. It is much more attractive to fight for a seemingly invincible group that can even pull the wool over the eyes of the POTUS and control the western media.

Either the Adm Rogers understands the IS connection to Islam and is denying it to the public for political reasons on orders from BO or there is a serious flaw in the military leadership in this country when it comes to identifying and understanding the enemy.

I bet he’s been told to lie and he doesn’t wish for early retirement.

…serious flaw in the military leadership
More like a complete abandonment of any military leadership…70 years ago they would have been imprisoned for treason.

Once you’ve read the Islamic texts, it’s too easy to spot the lies that Adm Rogers has been forced to tell against his better judgment. I blame his bosses.

Islamic State’s ideology “increasingly resonating” with Muslims in US
ISIS and Muslims resonate like a tuning fork. They are precisely on the same wavelength and have been for 1400 years.
William Lucas Harvey Jr. says
TYPICAL Pro Islam, Pro Muslim “Protect Islam” at ANY Cost, “Apologist” Pandering, by America’s Obama Administration.
FIRST we are B.S.’d, by the NSA chief, as to the Islamic State’s ideology, that the overwhelming majority of Muslims reject and are repulsed by its understanding and practice of Islam.
THEN we are told that this nauseating and un-Islamic perversion of Islam is “increasingly resonating” with Muslims in the U.S.
BUT we are also however told that that the Islamic State’s ideology has absolutely nothing to do with Islam.

That’s because the scriptures and history of Islam are verboten. It’s a perplexing mystery why the non-stop mass murder attacks. And for 15 years our news entertainers have asked themselves why the Unicorns don’t rise up against the “radical tiny minority of extremists” on behalf of Moderate Islam.
Why, cuz there ain’t no Moderate Islam. I invoke here the statement made on this by none other than the Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Persia, who is in the process of getting nuclear missiles with the help of the United States. If the Supreme Leader says there ain’t no Unicorns, then there ain’t. There are only inactive Moslems who sit in tacit support of activist Moslems, the Muhajidin. And he’s obtaining the nuclear missiles to do something decidedly un-Unicorn, immoderate. He’s gonna do the biggest single mass murder in history to fulfill the commands of the Holy Ko-Ran.
Meanwhile, we’re left with the spectacle of the haggard performance put on by Bill O’Reilly and Laura Ingraham the other night chastising Geller for being stupid enough to host a contest of cartoons of the Holy Prophet revered and observed by… the Supreme Leader.
And about a billion other non-Unicorns.
mileaway says
and we pay these geniuses because? There is only ONE Islam you morons or should I say COWARDS!
It’s time we admitted we are not at war with terrorism. We are at war with Islam!
mortimer says
Disagree: Islam is at war with all non-Muslims. WE did not choose this war. We are defending our freedom from a ruthless and deceitful foe. Muslims fight conspiratorially, pretending not to be fighting. They choose the battlefields, the time of the battles. Mostly, they do hit-and-run raids and vanish into the Muslim community. There method is to wear us down. The Leftards have been using them as allies in their fight against European civilization.
The way to stop Islam is to isolate Muslims in their horrid, squalid countries that Islam destroyed. They should be allowed out only if they promise never again to practice this evil death cult.
Ricky Black says
Mr. Rogers sounds a little Islamiphobic to me. Do they read the Koran the same way ISIS and I do? Kill, murder, rape and sell prisoners
John C. Barile says
Geewhiz, Islamic State ideology is increasingly resonating with Americans? I guess that makes Caliph Ibrahim (God reserve a Reaper missile for him) the New George Washington, and his followers the New Sons of Liberty.

Excellent point EgyptianMuslim.
The church having established it’s position and authority, was then able to relax it’s grip on humanity. From a position of strength it went through a “Renaissance” which delivered the west from the middle ages and ushered in a new Age of Enlightenment.
I wonder if the muslim world is stuck in the middle ages, or if muslims will experience a “Renaissance” as the Christian west has done, or do muslims need to conquer the world first?
In any event, you would have to expect resistance from those other than muslims irregardless of the moral standing of everyone involved.
Kiwi says
The muslims have had their Renaissance – known as Wahabbism it was established in the 18th century after the Sauds beat them (the Wahabbis) in the final tribal battle. The Sauds agreed that the Wahabbis could control religion and the Sauds would control everything else!

Yes.
DRHazard says
There’s so much behind the government’s choice of words. In their transparent attempt to distance ISIS from the vaguely defined world of “moderate” Muslims our misguided leaders start the discussion with a false presupposition, that the “ideology” of ISIS is unique in some way and not related to Islam. It would have been more accurate if they had said something like “the purist interpretation of Islam espoused by ISIS, and supported by numerous respected Muslim scholars over many centuries, is now resonating with U.S. Muslims who seem eager to reject the freedom they were raised under in favor of a set of primitive rules and superstitions developed by a 7th century, misogynistic, homophobic, robber and murderer and his immediate followers”.
Reacionary says
The NSA doesn’t care what lie behind ISIS. I declares a threat and uses the obvious evidence to justify watching all of us. In order to deter specific threats it gets bigger and more powerful to all conceivable threats. Wake up! While you’re ranting about its stupidity, the NSA will pull down your pants.
John Boston says
There are only two ways to peace. One, we allow ourselves to be ruled as the House of Islam (Dar-al-Islam) or two, we eliminate Islam entirely from the earth. I vote to eradicate Islam. How? By using free speech, and by defending it.
Uncle Vladdi says
Obama et al pretend ISIS is so “sophisticated” that its “propaganda” is “winning.”
Yet all ISIS is doing is quoting the Qur’an which says “God commands these crimes!”
Against that simple truth (which anyone can verify) all they’ve got is a lie: “No it doesn’t!”
PATHETIC.
“Radicalization” is simple: the Judeo-Christian Bible says if you feel depressed and think about committing suicide (especially while trying to murder others) you’ll go to Hell.
Islam says if you commit suicide WHILE murdering others, you’ll go to Paradise.
Beyond that this whole fable of public “confusion” about “motives” is only propaganda put out by globalist corporazis, who know islam wants the same thing they do – a no-nations one-world government.
All the banksters will be glad to say the shahada and join islam if they then get to run it.
