Standing for the freedom of speech no matter what the risks. From FrontPage:
I was standing next to Pamela Geller just after our American Freedom Defense Initiative/Jihad Watch Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest ended last Sunday in Garland, Texas when one of our security team ran in and told us that there had been a shooting outside. As the audience was led to another area inside the building and the outside was swept for bombs and additional jihadis, Geller and I were hurried to a safe room. It was the last time since then that Pamela Geller has been safe.
The Islamic State quickly issued a communiqué that included this:
The attack by the Islamic State in America is only the beginning of our efforts to establish a wiliyah [actually wilayah, administrative district] in the heart of our enemy. Our aim was the khanzeer [pig] Pamela Geller and to show her that we don’t care what land she hides in or what sky shields her; we will send all our Lions to achieve her slaughter. This will heal the hearts of our brothers and disperse the ones behind her. To those who protect her: this will be your only warning of housing this woman and her circus show. Everyone who houses her events, gives her a platform to spill her filth are legitimate targets. We have been watching closely who was present at this event and the shooter of our brothers. We knew that the target was protected. Our intention was to show how easy we give our lives for the Sake of Allah.
On top of that, instead of rallying to her defense and to that of the freedom of speech, the mainstream media, both on the Left and on the Right, has spent the week excoriating Pamela Geller for daring to “provoke” the poor jihadis, as if the two Muslim gunmen who showed up at our event would have become fiercely patriotic stockbrokers if only we hadn’t shown those cartoons.
It is therefore clear that if, God forbid, anything does happen to Pamela Geller, the talking heads will look soulfully into the cameras and say, Of course we are shocked…Of course we condemn….but…wellllll…she had it coming…she should have submitted to Sharia blasphemy restrictions like the rest of us…
The reality is that if the gunmen were “provoked” by the Muhammad cartoons, they would have been “provoked” by something else. What had the Jews in the Hyper Cacher supermarket in January done to “provoke” the Muslims? They dared to be Jews. What had the people in the Lindt Chocolat Cafe in Australia done to “provoke” the Muslims? Dared to be non-Muslims.
People who say our cartoon contest deliberately tried to provoke a violent reaction are under the apparent delusion that if we abide by Muhammad Atta’s advice to the passengers on his doomed plane on September 11, 2001, all will be well. Atta told the passengers, “Stay quiet and you’ll be OK.”
They weren’t.
The jihadis are already “provoked.” As I show in my forthcoming book The Complete Infidel’s Guide to ISIS, they were already planning and preparing for massive jihad attacks in the United States long before our cartoon show was ever considered. No amount of submission on our part is going to change that. In fact, the more we submit to violent intimidation, the more violent intimidation we are going to get. Why should the jihadis abandon a winning formula?
The world rallied to proclaim “Je suis Charlie” after the massacre of Muhammad cartoonists in Paris in January. But when those jihadis targeted our Muhammad cartoon event last Sunday, few were saying “Je suis Pamela Geller.” What’s the difference? The Charlie Hebdo cartoonists were reliably Leftist, while Geller is identified with the Right. And now it is clear: the Leftist intelligentsia would rather see the freedom of speech restricted, and Sharia censorship imposed, rather than stand with someone whose opinions they find unacceptable.
That really isn’t any surprise. The Left in America is increasingly authoritarian, intolerant, and opposed to the freedom of speech. Leftist thinkers speak only to each other, dismissing challenges from the Right with ad hominem attacks or ignoring them altogether. It would be easy for those who live in that echo chamber to think of the Garland jihadi gunmen, Ibrahim Simpson and Nadir Soofi, as ideological kin: assassins rather than character assassins, but with the same goal in mind.
Those who understand, however, that the freedom of speech, and free society in general, cannot possibly survive the imposition of censorship to avoid offending a group that reacts with murderous violence to being offended, are indeed saying Je Suis Pamela Geller today. If the free world ever remembers that obeying someone who will kill you if you disobey only reinforces your slavery, it will owe her a debt of gratitude of awesome proportions.

I heard someone on a local talk radio show make a point i had never concidered- why is the press aiming all their venom at Pamela, to a much greater extent than Robert or Geert?.
The suggestion was made was because Pamela is a Jew,() and the rabid antu semitism of the left is well established), Robert is a Christian, so they didnt have the same level of hate for him- but with Pamela being a Jew , outspoken and a women- the 3 types of people Muslims seem to depise more than any other, maybe thats why the left is unleasing such hatred on her head
MKG says
Wow. Interesting point.
Stay sharp Richie
Francesca says
I didn’t even realize she is Jewish. No wonder they are out to get her . . .a Jewish woman unafraid of Muslims. To make matters worse, she is smart and attractive. Perfect.
Lia Wissing says
You are probably right – I never thought that far! The muslims have a problem too: they are born provoked and go through life enraged. If you refrain from provoking & enraging, an inanimate stopsign might do it.
Jay Airahs says
Muslims are sweet when they need to be.
Muslims are enraged when being enraged gets appeasement.
mortimer says
Richie is on the money. Anti-Semitism is definitely part of the Leftard and Muslim agenda. This unholy alliance was cemented firmly when the PLO was created in Moscow in the 1960s. The Left and Muslims are united in hate of Jews, of free speech and of European civilization.
Owen Morgan says
Another commentator, on a different news site, suggested that Pamela Geller was singled out for being a woman, but that commentator was referring to the squawking pundits since the attack, not to the terrorists. I couldn’t really see what that writer was driving at, at that point.
On the other hand, the fact that Pamela Geller is both female and Jewish does make her a target twice over for jihadi muslims. Since the media have been taking their cue from the supposedly “provoked” muslims, ever since the shots were fired, they have not only adopted the jihadists’ language of permanent grievance, but they have followed the muslims in focusing on the favourite muslim target: Pamela Geller, a woman, a Jewess and a very brave Jewess, who does not fear to tell the truth.
While I expect that sort of behaviour on the left, the stupidity of numerous supposedly right-wing pundits, in response to this attempted mass-murder, beggars belief.
cs says
Double defiance, Pam is woman, it also plays a part. How there a Jewess express those views…
Shane says
She is an outspoken Jewish woman who dares to criticize Islam and Muhammad – those facts alone are enough tor the liberal MSM and Muslims to hate her.

I would add a fourth-

spot on says
…but with Pamela being a Jew , outspoken and a women- the 3 types of people Muslims seem to despise more than any other, maybe that’s why the left is unleashing such hatred on her head.
Islam institutionalizes hatred in the Koran just as you say and Jews are at the top of the hate list. Muslims are insulted that a woman gets the best of them. Christians and all the rest are not at the very top but not far down. Marxists also have great hatred for Jews, just ask any Jew from old USSR can illustrate. Christians are next on the hate list of Marxists. It makes sense that Marxist liberals would see Muslims as pals. The PC-MC mentality goes with this flow and is perpetuated by the Marxist MSM and Marxist academia.
Nat says
I think it also might have to do with the fact that Pamela Geller is a woman, and a singularly strong and beautiful and courageous one.
When you watch the expressions of the lefties speaking against her, you can see the jealously in their eyes. If they are male, they are jealous because Pamela has more courage in her pinky and in one second, than these sorry excuses for men have in their body and in their entire lifetime. It must make them feel like the supreme losers they are. Hell hath no fury.
And the lefty women just want to bring Pamela down so bad, in the way that all mean-spirited women do when they see astonishing inner and outer beauty. Hell hath no fury.
A lot of this is just jealously, the jealously of cowardly and ugly hearts in the face of remarkable courage and beauty.
The truth will out.
Nat says
Je Suis Pamela Geller

Whatever the hatred, it must be a great success to have inflamed muslims and the left to this degree, like a grenade thrown into the arena of political correctness. But Pam is a brave woman, is what irks leftists, who are so spineless. if it was Hirsi Ali, she would cop the same savagery I think. May God protect both despite Allahs protestations.

2 thumbs up for Pamela Geller. She is mind boggling-ly brave, astute and caring. She is a genuine American patriot. We all owe her. And to Robert Spencer—thumbs up for you baby! Bravo for Ashley who said:
“I am Jewish and proud of my faith, I am a proud American and will fight for our country and our freedoms that it was founded on.”
The proponents of discriminatory Sharia law are many and determined. We must challenge and defy them until they give it up.
Linde Barrera says
To Ashley- I am a Christian lady, and I support your right to live and believe what you like. I never heard of anything in Jewish doctrine or its core texts that advises it’s followers to “Kill unbelievers of Judaism.” My Lord Jesus was also Jewish. I also support any person’s right to religious freedom, provided the core texts and doctrines of the religion they follow does not say “Kill the unbelievers”. I did a little study on numerical populations of 5 countries in the Middle East. These figures are accurate from 2013. There are 107,000,000 + individuals of the Muslim religion living in Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, which are Israel’s closest neighbors. There are 6,200,000+ individuals of the Jewish religion living in Israel. (No other religions are included in these numbers, even though every country but Saudi Arabia has Christians and other religions.) With this statistic, the Muslims of these 4 countries outnumber the Jews of Israel 15 to 1. So the right thing for Muslims to do is protect their Jewish neighbor since Israel is clearly in the minority. Also, correct me if I am wrong, I think the state of Israel is not allowed to expand its borders. So the land it has cannot get bigger. I look forward to reading more of your posts Ashley.

BILL O’REILLY AND REVEREND GRAHAM MAKE NO SENSE IN THEIR CRITICISM OF PAM
If Democratic Capitalism didn’t stop Stalin and the Soviets from joining with Great Britain and the US to fight Nazi Germany why then would the Mohammad art event, as Bill O’Reilly says, prevent the Egyptians and Jordanians from joining with this country in fighting Islamonazis? As Mark Levin says “it make no sense.”
Moreover, how could the Reverend Graham credibly fault Pam for defying islamic law and holding a free speech event critical of Islam and mocking the Prophet Mohammad with satirical art when he said that “Islam was evil,” that it is a “religion of war, not peace,” that “Mohammed can’t lead one to God,.” and that “Christians must convert Moslems to Christ.” Graham’s message, which I endorse, is far more offensive and inflammatory to Moslems than Pam’s art show repeated a thousand times..

Because “Reverend Graham” is a gutless appeaser who won’t stand behind his words.

Franklin Graham doesn’t understand that the cartoon contest is not a gratuitous insult to those who worship Mohammed nearly as a god. It’s a human rights matter of CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE TO SHARIA LAW and a DEFIANCE of an UNJUST blasphemy law! We do not agree Mohammed is either a valid prophet or a quasi-god as Mohammedans do. We refuse to pretend Mohammed is more than a robin hood figure from the 7th century.
Just as Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man, we will not give up our freedom of expression because discriminatory Sharia threatens us with crucifixion and murder. Sharia is for barbarians.

The whole issue here is “freedom of speech, and of the press”. If we have that First Amendment (1A) protection, then the Mohammed art contest was protected free speech/ press. Truly free speech always offends someone; that is why we have the guarantee in 1A. If Muslims do not like depictions of Mohammed, they can protest *peacefully*, which is also protected by 1A. Let the Muslims abide by our Constitution and laws, or else be considered enemies of America.

Terrible news: last night on the Fox RINO there was a discussion between Megyn and Howard Kurtz on the propensity of the media to blame the messenger with the Geller and the Garland would be mass murder attack. Howie, the TV channel’s expert on media fairness, agreed that badmouthing Geller was bad, and was probably due to ideology, but he ducked question on when Megyn asked whether the news entertainers do this because they are afraid for themselves in terms of their persons being attacked by a Moslem. Then he said what he really thought:
“I’m tired of seeing Geller on shows all over the dial coming off like she’s Rosa Parks.”

“Two gentlemen died.”
I don’t know exactly which “pundit” said the words, nor do I recall the words exactly.

Alarmed Pig Farmer says
There’s a difference between Spencer saying Je suis Pamela Geller and those saying Je suis Charlie. He actually means it; he’ll hold up cartoons from the show, when none were saw in the demonstrations in Europe. They were *not* Charlie, they were applying the salve of disappointed tolerance onto themselves while being careful not to put themselves in danger.
But there are groups that a liberal society cannot tolerate without ceasing to be liberal.
– Caroline Glick in the Jerusalem Post talking about the Geller episode
Glick here is using the “liberal” in the true sense of the word, to mean liberal as an liberty, as set forth by John Locke and others a couple of centuries ago, *not* to mean wealth transferring intrusive big government and all the intrusions and limited or lost freedom that brings.
So the liberals, in the latter sense of those for big gubmint ruling elites, can’t tolerate Mujahidin mass murder, no Infidel can, not verbally at least, but they *will* tolerate it by surgically excising the nature of Islam from the belief system itself, insisting that most Moslems are ok, liberals in fact, and Moslems in Dar al-Harb do uniformly vote liberal.
But they are unable to point to the belief system that supports these Moderate Moslems. If they bring out the scriptures and history of Islam, then it is exposed that Islam is a religion of war that fully intends to take over the world, and bringing *that* out would force them to take actions that would not let them continue living the sanguine dreams and fantasies of liberalism.
I note here that the conservatives are no better at admitting the truth about Moslems, they are only closer to the mental state required to deal with their inexorable tireless assaults on freedom, which means that they’ll have to publicly reverse themselves on the Moslem question.
Ironically Glick works in a land targeted by Moslems for a nuclear holocaust over the middle term. Will Rand Paul and Ted Cruz and Rick Perry change their minds when that happens? Somehow, I don’t think so. My guess is that it’ll take tens of thousands dead here in America, or orders of magnitude more, before they become even willing to consider making good on their sworn duty to make the country secure.
Linde Barrera says
To Alarmed Pig Farmer- Your 10:15 am post was “on the money”. Would you consider running for Congress? No kidding, no flattery, no sarcasm.
Alarmed Pig Farmer says
At this point the most important positions aren’t in Congress, they’re in the TV studio anchor chairs.
Btw, over the past decade I’ve often regretted the fact that the writers we counter-jihads follow get almost no publicity and thereby are severely limited in the impact they can make on the general population. Seeing Geller as the most televised single person on TV over the past week gives us hope. And Spencer has been getting his fair share of camera time too. They are poised on the cusp of emerging as leaders, but they will no doubt be pulled back from this opening.
If only such exposure could be made permanent. We would have such better prospects then, in other words freedom would have such better prospects.
Linde Barrera says
To Alarmed Pig Farmer- Thank you for your prompt, thought provoking response. I see you as one of the “Go To” posters here at JW, and I really appreciate the insight I get from individuals such as yourself. I also like your posting name, as it is creative and funny. Pamela Geller is a hero. The free world owes her an enormous debt for attempting to open the eyes and minds of those who do not see or comprehend the cataclysmic threat posed to the world by ISIS, a discriminatory Islamic cult that believes enslavement and death are preferable to freedom and life.
The flabby stupidity and egregious blindness of the mainstream media is difficult to comprehend.
However, I believe it is related to a coddled generation of man-children who have never had to fight for the rights bestowed upon them by the determination and sacrifices of their forefathers.
We will be hearing much more from Pamela in the future because she does not know the meaning of the verb to quit, meaning she is a true hero. May we all bless her, support her and love her.
Elan says
“Our intention was to show how easy we give our lives for the sake of allah.”
That’s pretty good rationalization for being a loser. Also, if BO continues in his goal to fill the US with Islamic terrorists, hopefully they will be given more opportunities to give their lives at the hands of the well armed American public.

Uh-huh…. Remember the Danish cartoon ‘crisis’ in 2005? Did Pamela Geller provoke the world-wide riots and the hundreds of deaths that resulted? The ‘lawfare’ against Ezra Levant [the only Canadian journalist that dared reprint the cartoons] in Canada that tried to silence and ruin him, initiated by Islamic cranks [and the help of the Canadian ‘Human Rights’ industry..] How about the lawsuits against Mark Steyn when he wrote critical comments that Islamic cranks found ‘hateful’. How about the Charlie Hebdo massacre…is Geller responsible for that?
No, no, no and no. The responsibility lies directly with the savages that advocate and would attempt to impose Sharia oppression in Western nations. They must be defied, and defeated.

Geller, Spencer and their cohorts all live in the shadow of Meir Kahane. One can only imagine what his survivors from the JDL days must think of the “negotiations” with Iran over nuclear missiles for Persia, and of the episode in Garland, in particular the media’s kill-the-messenger reaction to it. The public was programmed to regard to Kahane as an extremist and a dangerous person.
As for my comparison, here, not that Rabbi Kahane’s battle was specifically against antisemitism, while Geller and Spencer are fighting for the continued freedom of all non-Moslems on earth, whether the Infidels they’re risking their lives for know there’s such a battle or not.

Alarmed Pig Farmer says
I wish more of my fellow left-wingers would stop denouncing her long enough to hear the important facts …
Globo-socialists don’t hear important facts, they invent them. This why the left has formed a loose, if uneasy, alliance with Islam across the globe. The wealth transfer crowd lives its fiction and sees little or wrong with the Moslem world takeover crowd living its fiction. Either way, the fantasy is to take over the world for its perceived betterment, its salvation even.
Betty says

Savvy Kafir says
Betty,
I consider myself a progressive (or a progressive/libertarian) because of my stance on other issues that are important to me, such as green energy and the environment, animal rights, etc. And because I’m an outspoken religious skeptic, which is (mostly) a left-wing thing.
But I try to examine each issue on its own merits, and think for myself … which is why I think guns are cool and Islam is not, in spite of the liberal herd’s hysterical opposition to both of those viewpoints.

I would love to see a sustained ad campaign along the lines of “I would love to listen to music – BUT – I did not want to offend the Muslims” or “I would love to use my rignt hand – But – i was wrongly convicted of stealing and the Muslims cut it off – BUT I don’t want to offend the Muslims” or ” I would have opposed the genocide of Christians and Jews in America – But – I did not want to offend the Muslims” etc etc
The object would be to provoke thought and enquiry in to the practical nature of Shariah and at the same time ridicule the hate group and advocate of the global genocide of unbelievers known collectively as Islam.
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer et al for sounding the alarm bell and educating us to the looming danger posed by Islam inspired terrorism. All freedom loving people must be proactive in bringing their concerns to their elected representatives and placing as much political pressure as they can muster to reinforce existing legislation in defence of Free Speech and other Democratic freedoms and resistence to the back door imposition of Shariah by stealth.
Oh and by the way in light of the previous generation’s experiences perhaps their ad campaign could have been along the lines of – I would have saved the Jews in my country – BUT – i did not want to offend the NAZI’s.
Or
If only the British hadn’t defended their freedom they would not have provoked the NAZI’s and the Blitz wouldn’t have happened. Who knew; it was the fault of the British all along. Just some food for thought.
