Newly revised edition up at PJM:
Allah spends most of Sura 5, “The Table,” castigating the Jews and the Christians for their various sins and offenses. If you think he was angry with them in suras 2-4, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
This sura dates from the Medinan period (as do suras 2-4) — according to Islamic tradition, this was the latter part of Muhammad’s career, when his revelations were longer, angrier, and more violent. Allah begins by exhorting Muslims to obey his commands regarding food, religious observances, and sexual morality (vv. 1-11). He permits Muslim men to marry not only “chaste women from among the believers,” but also “chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you” (v. 5).
However, he says nothing about Muslim women being permitted to marry non-Muslim men, and indeed, this is prohibited in Islamic law.
This is part of the subjugated status of the dhimmis, the “protected people,” in Islam: traditionally a man takes his wife into his own household, but not vice versa. The prohibition of Muslim women marrying non-Muslim men, and the allowance of Muslim men marrying non-Muslim women, means that the Islamic community will always be in a position to grow, while the non-Muslim community declines.
Then, Allah returns to raking the Jews and Christians over the coals (vv. 12-26). Allah, he tells us, “had already taken a covenant from the Children of Israel” (v. 12), but the Jews broke it. And so “for their breaking of the covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hard.”
Why? Because they have altered the revelations they received from Allah: “They distort words from their usages and have forgotten a portion of that of which they were reminded.” (v. 13) Allah warns Muslims that they will find Jews to be just as treacherous today: “And you will still observe deceit among them, except a few of them.”
Nonetheless, he tells Muslims to “pardon them and overlook. Indeed, Allah loves the doers of good.” (v. 13). According to Allusi in his Ruhul Ma’ani, this forgiveness should be extended only to those Jews who become Muslims or agree to pay the jizya and accept subservient dhimmi status in accord with 9:29. Tabari, on the other hand, suggests that v. 13 was abrogated by the commands to wage jihad against the unbelievers that came later in Muhammad’s career.
The Christians, meanwhile, “forgot a portion of that of which they were reminded,” so Allah punished them: “We caused among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection” (v. 14). Thus as far as the Qur’an is concerned, the divisions among Christians demonstrate the falsity of the religion — a proposition for which Jesus stated the obverse: “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35).
Says Ibn Kathir, “Indeed, the numerous Christian sects have always been enemies and adversaries of each other, accusing each other of heresy and cursing each other … Each sect among them will continue to accuse the other of disbelief and heresy in this life and on the Day when the Witnesses will come forth.” The Jews and Christians should accept Islam, as it reveals what they have concealed: “O People of the Scripture, there has come to you Our Messenger making clear to you much of what you used to conceal of the Scripture and overlooking much. There has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book.” (v. 15).
Allah, in several places in the Qur’an, presents himself as the arbiter between these warring Christian sects, clearing up questions that are disputed among them. Thus when asserting that Jesus was not crucified, but someone who looked like him was crucified in his stead (a position held by some Gnostic Christian sects), Allah says “those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain.” (4:157) And here the Qur’an declares that those Christians who believe that “Allah is Christ, the son of Mary” have “certainly disbelieved.” The Arabic word used here is kafara, (كَفَرَ); it is a form of kufr, unbelief.
Islamic spokesmen in the West frequently assert that the Qur’an never refers to Christians as infidels or unbelievers, when in fact this verse is quite clear that those who believe in the divinity of Christ are unbelievers indeed. To those Jews and Christians who claim to be God’s children, Allah directs Muhammad to retort, “Then why does He punish you for your sins?” (v. 18).
Then Allah retells the story of Cain and Abel (vv. 27-34), culminating in one of the most oft-quoted verses of the Qur’an, the one that Presidents Bush and Obama, as well as many other Western non-Muslim leaders, refer to most frequently:
Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption in the land — it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one — it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, after that, throughout the land, were transgressors. (v. 32)
There is less to this than Western leaders and Islamic apologists claim.
First, note that it is not a general prohibition of killing — there are big exceptions for those who kill “for a soul or for corruption in the land.” Second, this is not a general command, but one only for the Children of Israel. Third, “many of them, after that … were transgressors” — so all it is really saying is that Allah gave a command to the Children of Israel and they transgressed against it.
(Meanwhile, some Islamic authorities interpret this passage in a supremacist manner, as applying only to Muslims: Sa’id bin Jubayr explains: “He who allows himself to shed the blood of a Muslim, is like he who allows shedding the blood of all people. He who forbids shedding the blood of one Muslim, is like he who forbids shedding the blood of all people.”)
Never mentioned by the many who quote this verse as if it condemns Islamic jihad violence are the caveats above.
Nor do they mention that it is followed by v. 33, which specifies the punishment for the corruption and transgressions of the Children of Israel: “Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment.”
Thus this passage is explaining what must be done with Jews who reject Muhammad, not dictating lofty moral principles. Ibn Warraq sums it up: “The supposedly noble sentiments are in fact a warning to Jews. ‘Behave, or else’ is the message. Far from abjuring violence, these verses aggressively point out that anyone opposing the Prophet will be killed, crucified, mutilated, and banished!”
Allah follows that with more warnings of hellfire (vv. 35-40). Amidst them, he prescribes amputation of a hand for theft (v. 38). Said Muhammad: “Let there be the curse of Allah upon the thief who steals an egg and his hand is cut off, and steals a rope and his hand is cut off.”
In verses 41-60, Allah consoles Muhammad for the Jews’ and Christians’ rejection of him, and he and his message are again presented as the crown and completion of the messages brought to them by their prophets. But the Christians are told: “let the People of the Gospel judge by what Allah has revealed therein” (v. 47), which seems to suggest that Muhammad was assuming that the Christian Scriptures were not corrupted in his day, although today it is common Islamic teaching that the New Testament as we have it is not the original, but has been altered by wicked Christians to reflect their false doctrines.
Thus Muslims are not to befriend Jews and Christians (v. 51); Ibn Kathir explains: “Allah forbids His believing servants from having Jews and Christians as friends, because they are the enemies of Islam and its people, may Allah curse them.” Allah continues in this vein in vv. 52-60, excoriating the hypocrites and the People of the Book (most of whom are “defiantly disobedient” — v. 59), reminding them that some of “those whom Allah has cursed and with whom He became angry” were transformed into “apes and pigs” (v. 60).
Allah is just getting warmed up in expounding upon the wickedness of the Jews and Christians. In vv. 61-86, he criticizes the Jews and Christians for refusing to follow Muhammad. Why don’t the Jews’ rabbis stop their evil behavior (v. 63)? They even dare to say that “the hand of Allah is chained” (v. 64).
Allah’s hand is chained? It is unclear what Jewish concept, if any, the Qur’an is referring to in this case. Ibn Kathir comments: “Allah states that the Jews, may Allah’s continuous curses descend on them until the Day of Resurrection, describe Him as a miser. Allah is far holier than what they attribute to Him.” He is also absolute will, with hand absolutely unchained: Allah’s unchained hand is a vivid image of divine freedom. Such a deity can be bound by no laws. Muslim theologians argued during the long controversy with the heretical Islamic Mu’tazilite sect, which exalted human reason beyond the point that the eventual victors were willing to tolerate, that Allah was free to act as he pleased. He was thus not bound to govern the universe according to consistent and observable laws. “He cannot be questioned concerning what He does” (Qur’an 21:23).
Accordingly, there was no point to observing the workings of the physical world; there was no reason to expect that any pattern to its workings would be consistent, or even discernible. If Allah could not be counted on to be consistent, why waste time observing the order of things? It could change tomorrow. Stanley Jaki, a Catholic priest and physicist, explains that it was the renowned Sufi thinker al-Ghazali who “denounced natural laws, the very objective of science, as a blasphemous constraint upon the free will of Allah.” The great twelfth-century Jewish philosopher Moses Maimonides explained orthodox Islamic cosmology in similar terms, noting that Islamic thinkers of his day assumed “the possibility that an existing being should be larger or smaller than it really is, or that it should be different in form and position from what it really is; e.g., a man might have the height of a mountain, might have several heads, and fly in the air; or an elephant might be as small as an insect, or an insect as huge as an elephant. This method of admitting possibilities is applied to the whole Universe.”
Relatively early in its history, therefore, science was deprived in the Islamic world of the philosophical foundation it needed in order to flourish.
It found that philosophical foundation only in Christian Europe, where it was assumed that God was good and had constructed the universe according to consistent and observable laws. Such an idea would have been for pious Muslims tantamount to saying, “Allah’s hand is chained.”
Allah also says that whenever the Jews “kindled the fire of war, Allah extinguished it.” (v. 64) That is, says the Tafsir al-Jalalayn, “war against the Prophet(s).” According to Bulandshahri, “The Jews make every effort to instigate wars against the Muslims, but Allah foils their attempts each time, either by instilling terror in their hearts or by their defeat in these battles.” The Jews also “strive to do mischief on earth” — that is, fasaad (فَسَاد) — for which the punishment is specified in v. 33: offenders must be “killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land.”
Allah exhorts the Jews and Christians to follow what is written in the Torah and Gospel, and promises Paradise to those who do so (vv. 66, 68-9). This is not (as it is often represented) a manifestation of ecumenical generosity, but rather an expression of the Qur’an’s assumption that it confirms the message of the earlier books, which prophesied Muhammad’s coming.
Ibn Kathir tells Jews and Christians that they will have “no real religion until you adhere to and implement the Tawrah [Torah] and the Injil [Gospel]. That is, until you believe in all the Books that you have that Allah revealed to the Prophets. These Books command following Muhammad and believing in his prophecy, all the while adhering to his Law.”
Then Allah in v. 72 repeats the denial of the divinity of Christ — and the labeling of those who believe in it as “unbelievers” — of v. 17, and in v. 73, he repeats the denial of the doctrine of the Trinity from 4:171. Jesus and his mother are again presented as the other members of the divine trio with Allah, but they were mortal: they both used to eat earthly food (v. 75) — “like all other human beings,” says the Tafsir al-Jalalayn, and one who is such cannot be a god because of his compound being and fallible nature, and because of the [impurities such as] urine and excrement that he produces.” The actual Christian concept of the Incarnation, with Christ being both fully God and fully human, doesn’t enter into consideration.
Meanwhile, for their part the disbelieving Jews are cursed by both David and Jesus for their disobedience (v. 78). The Muslims will find that these Jews are their fiercest enemies, while those closest to them in affection will be the Christians (v. 82). According to the Ma’alimut Tanzil, this verse doesn’t refer to all Christians, but only to those who accept Islam; this is made clear by verses 83 and 84, in which those Christians accept Muhammad’s message….

That billboard is a lie! Muslims don’t believe in Jesus, they believe in a figure called “3eesa”. And muslims always repeat this lie that “3eesa” is the arabic name of Jesus. This is false! No arab christian calls jesus by the name “3eesa”, His name in arabic is Rabb Yasu3a Al-Masih, and this is the name arab christians use when they refer to their Lord!

#he says nothing about Muslim women being permitted to marry non-Muslim ……….
It is true that the Qur’an does allow only for the man to marry
from amongst the ‘People of the Book’. Look at the verse of the
Qur’an which explain the matter. “Lawful unto you in marriage are
(not only) chaste women who are believers, but chaste women
amongst the people of the Book.” (H.Q. 5:5).
Why is it that the Qur’an disallowed the Muslim woman from
marrying from the ‘People of the Book’?
A little reflection will make it clear that, in not permitting the
Muslim woman to marry from the ‘People of the Book’, the fact
becomes evident that the Qur’an is, indeed, from Allah who is best
aware of the needs and limitations of the woman. The lofty position
that is accorded to woman by Islam is not given to her by any other
religion. The rights which have been granted to her by Islam are also
not few in number. In all the other religions, however, she is regarded
only as the private belonging of her husband. As for Islam, it regards
her as in possession of fully independent existence, personality, and of
rights as well. This is while both the Old and New Testament of the
Bible consider her as the very cause of sin itself.
Without doubt, a Muslim woman who comes to the home of her
husband as the wife of one amongst the people of the Book. She will
be confined to the rights that are only allowed her by her husband.
When compared with the rights that she has been provided by Islam,
those which are granted by him will appear wholly insufficient and
restrictive. Besides, he will never treat her with a consideration of the
high status that Islam has conferred upon her. (Indeed, he is under no
religious compulsion, whatsoever, to act likewise). Therefore, for such
a one as her, brought up as she was in an Islamic environment, the
treatment and consideration she receives in the home of her husband
will all prove overbearing. Most of the privileges which she had earlier
enjoyed will now be of no consequence. She will, therefore, find it
difficult to get along well in the household.
The condition of a woman from among the people of the book
who is brought to the Muslim home is quite different. She will be
treated with even greater attention than in her own home. The
privileges that she becomes entitled to here will be much higher than
the ones with which she was favoured in her own home. She, thus,
finds no difficulty in getting along with life in her husband’s home.
As far as a Muslim is concerned, Allah and His messenger is
more dear to him than his own self, wealth or family. This love is
moreover related directly to his religion. To him, therefore, hearing
Allah and his messenger being made the object of ridicule is more
difficult than losing his own life. The Jews and Christians believe that
the Prophet was an imposter. There are even those who describe him
as the Anti-Christ. It is natural, therefore, for them to ridicule him and
to show him in poor light. If a Muslim woman is taken in marriage by
any amongst the ‘People of the Book’, her life with him in his household
will be equivalent to life in Hell itself. There will be many remarks
from his side and from the side of the other members of his family
which insult the person of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). For, after all, it
has become their religious obligation as well. Thus, she will never be
able to carry forward her life with him.

Well, *this* is grimly hilarious. What could be more “lofty” than giving women the right to be married off as a pre-pubescent girl, to suffer forced marriage, FGM, polygamy, summary divorce (the “Triple Talaq”), wife beating, and “Honor Killing”?

Again, just laughable. Jews and Christians regard women as equal partners in marriage. In Islam, they are nothing but “tilth”, and their husbands can beat them if they so much as “fear” rebellion.

#Jesus was not crucified………
The Biblical concept has been that “… anyone who is hung
on a tree is under God’s curse.” (Deuteronomy 21:23). The Jews
had thought that they had had Jesus accursed by way of impaling him
onto the cross. Paul, too, says the same thing. “Christ redeemed us
from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is
written: ‘Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.’” (Galatians
3:13). It follows from this that the crucifixion has only served to make
of Jesus an accursed person. But the Qur’an does not accept the idea
that Jesus had become so accursed for the sins of the whole world.
How can anyone believe that God never heard the prayer of Jesus
which he made in order that he be saved from the accursed wooden
cross (Mathew 29:39) without believing in the very rejection of divine
mercy to Jesus? The Qur’an, however, teaches that God had, by way
of saving Jesus from the accursed wooden cross, undermined the
conspiracy of the Jews. (4:157,158)
The Jews contend that Jesus had become accursed by way of
his being impaled upon the cross.
Paul contends that Jesus had become accursed by way of his
dying upon the cross.
The Qur’an contends that God saved Prophet Jesus from the
cross.
#Muslims are not to befriend Jews and Christians………….
There are verses in the Qur’an which makes it clear that the
deniers of Truth are not to be made bosom friends. Observe a few of
these verses:
“Let not the believers take for friends or helpers
unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will
there be help from God: except by way of precaution, that ye
may guard yourselves from them. But God cautions you (to
remember) Himself; for the final goal is to God.” (H.Q. 3:28)
The Qur’an has given an account of the type of Non-Muslims
with whom the Muslims are not to enter into friendly relations:
“O ye who believe! Take not My enemies and yours as
friends (or protectors) – offering them (your) love, even though
they have rejected the Truth that has come to you, and have
(on the contrary) driven out the Prophet and yourselves (from
your homes), (simply) because ye believe in God your Lord! If
ye have come out to strive in My way and to seek My good
pleasure, (take them not as friends), holding secret converse
of love (and friendship) with them: for I know full well all that
ye conceal and all that ye reveal. And any of you that does this
has strayed from the straight path.” (H.Q. 60:1)
“If they were to get the better of you, they would behave
to you as enemies, and stretch forth their hands and their
tongues against you for evil; and they desire that ye should
reject the truth.” (H.Q. 60:2)
The Qur’an has, therefore, prohibited from entering into an
alliance with those of the non-Muslims, whether of the ‘People of the
Book’ or otherwise, who view Islam and the Muslims with enmity;
who hatch conspiracies for their destruction and who had driven out
the Muslims from their homeland for the only reason that they had
believed in Allah. It is certain that no Muslim, who is engaged in a
campaign in the path of God against such deniers of the Truth, can
ever have friendly relations with them. However, there were, among
the Muslims, certain hypocrites, who entered into friendly relations
with the enemies of Islam while feigning the posture of ‘We are with
you’ when with the Muslims. It was about them that the Qur’an said,
“and he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of
them” (Qur’an 5:51)
KILLING BLINDLY NON MUSLIM
“O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians
for your friends and protectors: they are but friends and
“God forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you
not for (your) faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing
kindly and justly with them: for God loveth those who are just.”
(H.Q. 60:8)
“God only forbids you, with regard to those who fight you
for (your) faith, and drive you out of your homes, and support
(others) in driving you out, from turning to them (for friendship
and protection). It is such as turn to them (in these circumst
ances), that do wrong.” (H.Q. 60:9)

I believe that part of the reason is that Islam (a) has a very poor sense of human sinfulness, (b)believes that man is in a business deal with God, in which man can make up for x number of bad deeds with y number of good deeds, and (c) has a very weak view of the holiness and majesty of God.
Seven hundred years before Jesus was born, the Prophet Isaiah said of him “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see the travil of his soul and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. (Isaiah 53:10-11).
You see, Shabeer, you and I are born sunk in sin, indeed, dead in our sins and trespasses. How can there be any salvation for us–especially since the wages of sin is death (including the eternal death, called the Second Death in the Book of Revelation)? This goes for even the prophets of God, with the sole exception of the sinless and righteous one, Jesus.
It is because God himself provides atonement. Adam and Eve sinned in the garden; God gave them the skins of animals, showing that their death was covered by the death of another. The Firstborn of Israel were not smitten by the Angel of Death along with the Firstborn of Egypt because of the blood of the Passover Lamb smeared on the lintels of the Israelite houses. The whole ancient Israelite sacrificial system in the Torah also points to the need for blood atonement through the sacrifice of animals.
Further, in giving Abraham a ram in place of his son Isaac on Mt. Moriah (Gen. 22), God shows us that the life of a sinful man is not an appropriate offering to a holy and just God. This is why your shaheeds are doing nothing but sending themselves (and sometimes others) to Hell quickly. They are not martyrs of God, but deluded people who hasten themselves to a fearful judgment.
This is why Jesus could become a curse for us, and not anyone else. He was the righteous and holy one, born without sin. As Peter says, Jesus the just one died for the unjust (us), to bring us to God. It is why Paul writes elsewhere (Romans and the Corinthian letters) that God made him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that in him we might have God’s own righteousness. I’d urge you to look a lot more carefully at the letter to the Galatians that you throw out at us. Jesus is the final, efficacious atonement that gives us access to God’s grace.
And what of Jesus’ prayers, the travail of his soul, prophesied by Isaiah and recorded in the Gospels?
He says, through David his prophet, “For thou wilt not leave my soul in Sheol (the place of the dead); neither wilt thou suffer thine holy one to see corruption” (Psalm 16:10). This is fulfilled in Jesus’ resurrection from the dead three days after the crucifixion and actual physical death, and his body-and-soul ascension to Heaven, from whence he reigns and where he holds the keys to death and Hell (Rev. 1). Please note: even Muslims know that Jesus, body and soul, today sits in Heaven; while the corpse of Muhammad lies in Medina awaiting the day of judgment along with all the rest of us sinners (and he awaits it without the benefits of Christ’s atonement–I daresay that the Qur’an’s denial of Jesus’ actual death on the cross will scream loudly in testimony against Muhammad in that day).
In the Gospels, Jesus speaks of one who binds a strong man in order to plunder his goods. This Jesus himself accomplished in descending into death for us and plundering and binding the “strong man”–Satan, who now no longer can bring charges against those in Christ. “For through death he might destroy him who has the power of death, namely the devil,, and deliver them who through fear of death were subject to bondage” (Hebrews 2:14-15).
You yourselves admit Jesus was born of a virgin. But why Jesus, and not Muhammad? It is because Jesus represents the new beginning for the human race, not Muhammad. Avail yourself of this new beginning, Shabeer.

Arabs under the influence of Rome?
I’d buy that and maybe Robert Spencer’s book, too. So there.

Through all of human history, man has been dying for fiction, swampbubbles. It is the basis on which almost all wars start.
Just in the past 75 years we can see how that works.
Look at WW2. The nazis had a whole fiction about a “master race” and a pseudo-religion based on all sorts of mythology and fantasy which was all about a fictional world where the “master race” would rule supreme. Mussolini traded on the fantastical past of Roman conquests which had no connection with the present when he got Italy into it all. And the Japanese were no better off with their emperor worship and similar “master race” ideas.
Look at the Vietnam and Korean wars, or even the Cold War. It was all based on the myth of communism being the future for the world and the great savior of the “common man”. Absolutely ludicrous when you think about it, but they really believed in that myth.
Now we have the Jihad wars. All based on a myth without substance. All this tragedy, deaths, money wasted, for a myth called Islam. How pathetic.
And here’s you, trying to spin a bunch of lies about Islam, trying to point a finger where ever you can — everywhere but never simply looking in the mirror and facing the truth about all the crap you believe without genuine reason or facts.
How pathetic.

What is truth to you? Let’s get a point of origin here.

And then all the innocent lives moslems have taken for a fiction?! Moslems live for a fiction, die for a fiction, but worst of all they torture, rape, mutilate, murder for a fiction. Damn you alla!

“unless for a soul or for corruption in the land”
This verse means more than what was discussed. This allows the killing of Jes and Christians because, if they disobeyed the commandment then they are “corrupt,” which is the exception to a killing prohibition. Further, since only Muslims are not corrupt only true Muslims may not be killed. There for this verse is actually calling for the murder of all non-Muslims and apostates.
CogitoErgoSum says
The idea that dependable natural laws must not exist in the universe since such laws would constitute a blasphemous constraint upon the free will of God is blasphemous in itself. God, by definition, can do anything. If God wished to create a universe that operated under a specific set of laws what could prevent such a thing? If God were to decide that the laws of this universe were going to lead to a specific event not to God’s liking, what could prevent God from making extraordinary things happen that are exceptions to the rules previously put in place (miracles)? Again, God can do whatever God wishes to do. A bush may be made to appear to burn without consuming itself or a sea may be parted to leave a dry path from one shore to the other. Likewise, what could prevent God from being both human and divine if God wished it to be so? Saying that Christ cannot be divine because it is impossible for God to be both human and God is, in effect, placing a chain on the hand of God. God may do as God pleases to do. My logic leads me to the conclusion that the god of the Muslims has certain limitations while the god of the Christians has none. The god that is God can do all things.

The allegation that Jesus was not crucified does set up a great premise for the zombie craze that is all the rage now. ‘Zombie’ in voodooism, etc. can refer to people that were drugged before being interred — that is, not dead. Is there maybe a ‘theology’ afoot that all posits that all the Native Americans the European settlers killed in America…are going to come out of the ground one day as, you guessed it, Muslims, who were > of course [supersessionism]< here first.
It's a crazy world. The best psychiatrist in the world couldn't fix it.
But it's interesting cinema if you live through it.

…a ‘theology’ afoot that [] posits that all…
CogitoErgoSum says
Swampbubbles, if your theology holds the belief that all things are possible with God, then, yes, the Native Americans killed by the Europeans could have their bodies resurrected at the end of the age in which we now live. I’m not sure why you limit your question to people killed by Europeans, however. The souls of all human beings who ever lived will be re-united with their bodies at the end of time.
You may wonder how this can be since so many human beings had no way of knowing about Christ before He was born. In my theology the souls of those who died prior to Christ’s crucifixion awaited Him in a place between heaven and hell. During the interval between Christ’s death and resurrection He traveled to this place and gave those souls the opportunity to choose eternal life with Him. Such things as time and space do not matter to the God in which I believe. In my theology all things are possible so I have no problem with such matters as this.

re: ” I’m not sure why you limit your question to people killed by Europeans, however.”
Because that’s primarily how America became America — by European immigrants killing the Native Americans.
This is just a hypothetical attempt at connecting dots between:
1) Muslims and their collaborators on religion blogs who prefer that all non-Muslims belong in displaced persons camps in the flyover part of the USA — Midwest, etc.
2) Muslims’ penchant for re-writing history as a pre-won conquest.
It’s not really about resurrection.
Jay Airahs says
If a Muslim woman marries a non-Muslim man she might want to return one day and poison all the local miserable imams.
Remember what happened to Muhammad who was tricked into eating poison and killed by the hand of a woman. And to think that such a buffoon would dare to call himself a prophet.
TediNeo98 says
Wouldn’t that be a breath of fresh air in today’s world – standing up to their husbands and the
hate-mongering imams….no, instead they strap bombs to themselves and blow others up, or cover themselves up in subservience, or go as far as protecting family members who are planning terrorist activities. The religion instantly takes women back a hundred years. I think that is why Islam expends so much time putting their women down, removing their freedoms & indoctrinating them through culture and belief – women are powerful, they have great influence for change within their families and society. The power of a society, lies in how its women are treated and how the family unit is valued.
I have seen this first hand in Africa – when women are empowered in villages & towns, then the entire society starts to heal and prosper and the greatest beneficiaries are the children.
Jay Airahs says
Africa may have to take the lead in destroying the Slave Trade religion of Islam.
The West is pre-occupied with political correctness.
Walter Lammi says
I defer to you as a scholar of the Koran, about which I know nothing, and your analysis is certainly damning. However, surfing the internet I found another Koranic scholar that I want to ask you about. His name is Michel Cuypers. He’s not Muslim at all but rather Catholic, a member of the “Small Brothers of Jesus” who lives in the Dominican Center in Cairo. I ordered a book of his on Sura 5, which he calls “The Banquet.” Cuypers, as I’m sure you know, is pioneering a new kind of interpretation first applied to the Bible, which he calls “Semitic rhetoric.” Since, as you ably document, traditional Muslim interpretations of the Koran are highly problematic and all over the map, Cuypers’ approach provides a much-needed objective means of deciding on the relative importance and scope of different statements, dividing them into historically limited and theologically central categories according to careful analysis of this discovery of “symmetrical” writing, which is quite different from our concept of argumentation derived from the Greeks. A number of scholars, mostly non-Muslim, have picked up on this approach. It seems to be leading to rather moderate conclusions concerning issues including the scope of the injunction against killing at v.32 and the relative status of Muslims and people of the Book at v.51-71. I find his analysis hard to read but persuasive. What do you think of it?
mach37 says
Walter, there are a number of websites offering translations of the Koran. Just read a few verses such as those presented by both Robert Spencer and the commenters to this thread. You will learn much about the Koran, although the flowery language can be so devious and schizophrenic that it is open to many different interpretations. Just interpret it for yourself.
Walter Lammi says
Reading the Koran is not merely a matter of reading the words. Indeed any book of ultimate significance to any religion is open to many different interpretations. The question is, can we find any persuasive guidance? The Catholic scholar Michel Cuypers, along with a number of Biblical as well as other Koranic scholars, has worked out a detailed approach to the the text, according, as I mentioned, to a forgotten way of writing that he calls “Semitic rhetoric.” There are a number of recent specific studies of the Koran that use this approach, including Cuypers’ book on Sura V, with the title of “The Banquet.” I strongly recommend that you give his approach a hearing, and I would very much appreciate a comment from Robert Spencer because he’s the Islamic scholar here, and I’m sure that he’s familiar with this exciting new approach. I’m no expert, but it seems to me that it challenges Dr. Spencer’s reading in interesting ways, and I would like to know whether or how it’s influencing his thinking.
mach37 says
Walter, my comment was suggesting that you think for yourself, rather than relying on other people’s interpretations. You said you know nothing of the Koran, so i suggested that you study it yourself. I think my knowledge and interpretation of history is as good as that of anyone else currently writing, and you should study the subject so you can come to your own conclusions.

Boy, do I have a lot of questions about Islamic teachings.
#1- where does the idea come from in 5:73 that the Christian Trinity is made up of three separate parts? I have always heard that all parts of the Trinity were equal, all one and the same. Is it possible that the Koran is in error about Christian belief?
#2- what is the basis of 5:64, the claim that “The Jews said ‘God’s hand is tied down!'”? Is that actually in the Torah or in the Gospels? Again, could the Koran be wrong?
#3- Is 5:75 implying that Muhammad did NOT eat food, he did NOT produce urine and excrement? Saying that Jesus and Mary did those things should not make them worse than Muhammad.
#4- Who is the “We” that is constantly condemning, and (5:32) decreeing upon the Children of Israel? Is it Allah, or Muhammad, or the Ummah?

Omg, just listen to yourselves. You are arguing over something written in books by humans, by men, more specifically, one of them an obvious mad man. Religion is crowd control. Islam was created for political gain. I’ll take spirituality any day, alongside my Jewish culture. Think for yourselves. Follow your heart. Stop doing things that offend your soul. “When one is harmed, all are harmed. When one is healed, all are healed.” ~ That is the Law of One of the Creator of All There Is, and so it is.

I notice that you boldly put spirituality first above your Jewish culture yet you only obliquely hint at Islam.
This is a very common phenomenon among people who claim to be spiritual.
Congratulations at least for saying “one of them an obvious mad man” assuming that you meant Muhammad.
Spirituality is fine as long as it does not cross into groveling appeasement to the nearest Muslim within earshot with smug condescension toward Christianity and simultaneous reverence toward anything Islam.
