Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Video: Robert Spencer and Hamas-linked CAIR’s Nezar Hamze discuss free speech

May 5, 2015 6:05 pm By Robert Spencer

Yesterday I appeared on Newsmax TV’s MidPoint with its host Ed Berliner and Nezar Hamze of Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Watch this one: there were a lot of fireworks — mostly not between Hamze and me, but between me and the relentlessly biased and prosecutorial host, Ed Berliner.

Ich bin Ed Berliner? Nein!

Bure sure to send polite yet assertive comments to newsmax demanding less bias and more transparency from Ed BERLINer along with acknowledgement that he’s attacking the very First Amendment that gives him a media outlet or platform to begin with, maybe along with a “thanks for having Robert on the show” comment also:

I have not watched the entire segment, but if you readers here can find a CONTACT PATH to Ed Berliner, PLEASE EVERYONE remind him that he is in a “profession” that used to defend the First Amendment. BUT HE IS AN UTTER COWARD.

I thought Newsmax was a conservative outfit. Where did they get this geek? He was breathless, but not speechless, at the prospect of conducting more cartoon contests that people find offensive.

“Robert, c’mon… you’re saying this is all about blood!” Spencer should have mentioned that the Holy Prophet Mohammed, commanded as the ideal for all Moslems to emulate, spilled hundreds of gallons of human blood.

Why is the history of Mohammed, and the command that he be copied, kept a state secret by everybody? Is it too much to speak the truth? Sure, it’s a horrible truth, but it’s the truth.

      Hello APF —

Pam’s and Robert’s event was IMHO a seminal day for CAIR’s seditionists to lose control of the narrative . . . but that needs to be shored up by our pushback in emails to media-published fools.

Reading the comments section of MSM privilege-guilt writers, a typical percentage of NON-CLUELESS persons who understand reality is about 80% versus 20% of the perpetual morons.

OOOPS ! ! ! My ancient brain omitted the most important point : ROBERT ANNOUNCES THAT **** MORE **** CARTOON CONTESTS WILL HAPPEN.

That is what the two worshippers of bloodthirsty Allah “won” with their lives . . . and an expectation of those abundant VIRGINS waiting for Muhammads’ heirs . . .

Pam Geller has bigger balls under her skirt than CAIR / Ellison / Carson / Lean / Aslan. They would be perfectly lovely medieval harem eunuchs.

Fasten seat belts tight. hang on, thank God that our Founders had the wisdom to know that without free speech, democracy is not possible.

I cannot believe the arguments against free speech presented here by the Newsmax talking head!!! The very point of the AFDI is to deny world islam its forced silencing of all comments from free people in violation of islam’s sharia laws! I am OUTRAGED at the turnout of dhimmi sob’s around the world ready to surrender our hard-fought right to free speech. I will say ANYTHING I care to about the sick “religion” of islam. A more backwards, decadent, demeaning and controlling a political ideology (not a religion – I reject that description of this cult which is more akin to nazism) does not exist in the world today. As an illustrator I will be offering up a continuous stream of mohammad cartoons and drawings myself now & I intend to flood the internet with them. I have NO respect for the cult of islam anymore than any other satanic cult and I believe it is the greatest destroyer of life, freedom and liberty in the world today.

Someone tell this idiot host his face looks like ruined clay from a pottery class. Then ask him if he’s offended, once he says yes ask him if he thinks that proper grounds to commit acts of violence. when free speech is lost, AMERICA IS LOST we will be living in Barackistan…………meanwhile, THIS is all part of the grand plan………….DIVIDE the population to pave the way for the take over —- they’re already in Texas and Tennessee, Michigan, and many more…….just what the community organizer wants — AMERICAN’S TO BE FIGHTING WITH EACH OTHER while he brings them in right under our noses.

while this video claims there are moderate muslims……..we can see IF there really are any, they are not showing themselves……….

Abu Ammaar Yasir Qadhi, a Memphis Imam based in Tennessee, preaches openly about what Islam truly is. He makes no bones about thinking that anyone other than a Muslim doesn’t deserve anything and are less than Muslims. In fact, part of Yasir Qadhi’s preaching includes rhetoric that says non-Muslims lives are forfeit and their property is legal for Muslims to take in jihad, (and this would include women as sex slaves) Recently Yasir Qadhi said that “Jews and Christians filthy, their lives and property can be taken in jihad by the Muslims.”
Yasir Qadhi is not only a Memphil Imam, but is is also the Dean of Academic Affairs at the Al-Maghrib Institute. He is a hafiz (has memorized the Qur’an) and he has an M.A. in the Islamic Creed and a B.A. in Islamic Sciences from Islamic University of Medina, as well as a master’s and a doctorate in Islamic Studies from Yale. During a lecture on Shirk, or polytheism, Yasir Qadhi said that Jews and Christians are mushrikoon, or polytheists, because they have made partners with Allah. From Yasir Qadhi’s perspective, only Muslims are monotheists.
He also claims that it is the responsibility of every single human being to bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and him alone. Now pay attention here. Yasir Qadhi now will tell you what the result and command that stems from this twisted principle.
“And it is because of this same principle of monotheism that the prophet has been commanded to do jihad.”
OK, now we’re getting somewhere. Did all of you alleged “moderate” Muslims out there get that? Of course, you did. You know this. You know jihad is not just some internal struggle. It isn’t about losing weight or getting in shape or some personal goal to be obtained. It is a holy war to advance the caliphate, the Islamic State. While “jihad is not the goal”, Qadhi says, “it is the means. It is a means to establish monotheism on the land,”. Let me translate that for any who are still skeptical and buying into the lie that Islam is peaceful. Jihad is a means, a violent means, to an end, or goal, where Islam dominates the United States…………………………………
and what are your thoughts on THIS you moron…………..it’s time to STOP THE RACE CARD game and take a look at what is going on outside your little rainbow and unicorn kumbayah world — THESE PEOPLE — the MUSLIMS want to KILL YOU and EVERYOTHER PERSON who does not believe in their pedophile prophet — YOU THINK YOU’VE EXPERIENCED RACISM????? Well let me tell you — in America you have experienced nothing like what is being set up to come down on you!!!!! Honestly — wake up and realize you live in AMERICA the best country in the world and it is being destroyed right under our noses while we are being DIVIDED and fighting amongst ourselves about this crap!!!!
WAKE UP — STOP THE DIVISIVENESS — we need to come together as a country to SAVE AMERICA —- your children and your grandchildren have no future unless we as a COUNTRY UNITE! So stop spreading the vile racist crap and get serious — we are about to LOSE OUR COUNTRY —-

  15. Wellington says

    May 5, 2015 at 7:51 pm

Here’s the essence of the problem as demonstrated by this video: The Ed Berliners of the world are more of a threat to free speech than the Nezar Hamzes are.

After all, one should expect followers of a totalitarian creed such as Islam to be enemies of free speech, notwithstanding any soothing, mendacious words they assert to the contrary, but when the Western MSM, as exampled here by Ed Berliner, assumes a pugilistic role (replete with ignorance to be sure) to a stalwart defender of free speech as Robert Spencer is, well then, the crux of the problem in our time is as clear as crystal.

I might add that, where Islam is concerned, the reason the Berliners, the Camerotas, the McCallums, the O’Reillys, et al., exist out there in Media World as they do is because they refuse to even consider the possibility that Islam, ALL OF IT, is rotten to its core (which it most surely is). Rather, all these deficient, woefully uninformed, Westerners, who actually indulge themselves by thinking they are standing up for free speech, are completely oblivious of the fact that Islam, ALL OF IT, is a mortal enemy of free speech. Might as well stand up for Nazism or Marxism as not being enemies of free speech as stand up for Islam in this regard. No difference whatsoever. None at all.

So many in the Western MSM make the erroneous assumption that a major religion couldn’t possibly be the spiritual equivalent of Nazism. But Islam is just that, as Bertrand Russell and Winston Churchill, among others, knew quite well. And the Berliners, the McCallums, the O’Reillys and the Camerotas are not just oblivious of this fact but, far worse, are facilitators of the spiritual fascism which goes by the name of “Islam,” and precisely becasue they continue to treat Islam as just another religion. A greater (and more dangerous) ignorance would be hard to find in our time. Again can be seen that ignorance of evil is actually worse than evil itself, as Ayn Rand drove home the point here with a ruthless pursuit of the truth.

    • Max Publius says

      May 5, 2015 at 9:06 pm

I agree. The human brain doesn’t register the words “nazi” or “islam” per se. Those words are first translated within the inner ear into chemical signals that flow down neural pathways and trigger physical responses. It’s very obvious that nazism and islam are composed of very similar meta-signals that trigger the same violent and supremacist psychosomatic responses in their adherents.

I’m sorry to see this host come out of the closet as a ethical coward. I thought he was playing devil’s advocate at first, to draw out the truth, but it was apparent he thinks no right is worth risking death.

Muslims are not being provoked, its rights-conscious peoples which have been provoked into holding this vital event by murderous Muslims and their spineless enablers. Just like Operation Freedom was a response to 9/11 etc, this event was a response to murderous sharia codes creeping into free countries.

Cheers for Robert, Pamela, Geert, and counterjihadists all, who smartly fight the sicko jihadists yet haven’t cost the taxpayer a thing. Now compare that to the worthless Bush/Obama military operations since 9/11 costing $6 trillion and counting.

The host criticized Robert for inciting violence but at the same time showed two of the mohammed cartoons. The funniest part was at the end, the muslim had said all the right things, peoples right to free speech, absolute rejection of violence, etc. but then finishes by saying people should follow mohammed’s example on dealing with insults, whoops!

    Kudos to Robert!

The Islamic Prophet Mohammed lied, stole, called Jews and Christians “animals”, had sex slaves, had sex with a 9 year old girl, killed innocents, and committed terrorist acts. This is the truth. And if we say the truth we may get killed because we may have “offend muslims”. Why is most of the media not understanding this and why is most of the media not standing up for our right to speak the truth?

  19. harvey says

    May 5, 2015 at 8:08 pm

The yelling “fire” in a crowded theater analogy is astonishingly grotesque. The stream of logic goes like this: Pamella and Rpbert knew before hand that drawing cartoons of Muhammad could put people in danger and therefore are culpable if someone gets hurt in the panic and violence. Just the way, yelling “fire” in a crowded theater when there isn’t one, could cause panic and someone to get injured. But see, that’s not what’s happening here. Pamella and Robert are yelling “fire” in a crowded theater, and there actually IS a fire in the theater. In essence what these Muslim’s are saying is, that Pamela and Robert need to be publicly scolded and ostracized, and they are the ones who should mete out the punishment. Muslims should grow a backbone and realize that being Muslim is not the only thing in the universe.

Right now, on Fox News, both Bill O’Reilly and Laura Ingraham are opining to the effect that it is stupid to criticize an entire faith, and so the event hosted by Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer et al., and at which event such other brave defenders of freedom like Geert Wilders and Bosch Fawstin were present, was uncalled for according to O’Reilly and Ingraham.

Yes, here we have in microcosm the problem. Even though Islam has in it doctrines much which is inimical to freedom of speech and freedom of religion, O’Reilly and Ingraham are not criticizing Islam but rather those who hosted and attended the event in Garland, Texas. In short, they are criticizing the defenders of free speech. In short, they are blaming the victims.

    Shame on you O’Reilly. Shame on you, Ingraham. You are part of the problem and not part of the solution. You both sicken me. And for God’s sake, will you finally educate your ignorant asses about Islam, whose founder said, “I have been made victorious with terror.” {Bukhari Hadith 4.52.220}

I watched that, too (and Greta this evening, as well).

As every one of those people has unfettered access to the Internet and a staff to do the research for them, there is NO reason (mow more than 13 years post 9-11) to be so clueless.

It was interesting to hear Laura state–while offering her opinion–that she didn’t know all of the “ins and outs” of the situation.

      No kidding.

BTW: Shouldn’t this “whose founder said” be “whose supposed founder allegedly said”?

      • Wellington says

        May 5, 2015 at 10:39 pm

Though more accurate and complete the way you phrased it, PRCS, those who continue to remain wilfully ignorant of Islam, as Ingraham and O’Reilly to their shame have, would just be further confused by the precision you proffered, i.e., “whose supposed founder allegedly said.” So, with those who insist on remaining insouciantly stupid about Isam, as O’Reilly and Ingraham have, you’ve got to keep it simple I believe.

Agreed, jihad3tracker. Even many on the Right are flailing and flunking right now because they refuse to accept the idea that mankind could produce a major religion which is rotten to the core. But mankind did and wishing or hoping or assuming otherwise won’t change this. I expect most of those on the Left (you excepted of course) to remain blithely ignorant of what Islam intends for us all because, let’s face it, political correctness and multiculturalism, though bought into by many on the Right, have their origins and home on the Left.

  24. Frank Scarn says

    May 5, 2015 at 8:25 pm

Apparently Ed has never seen the flag of Saudi Arabia, that geographical location containing Islam’s two holiest sites.

“There, Ed, right at the bottom of that flag. That sword. Kinda implies, “Follow Islam. Or else'”

Even acknowledging that there are differences between Saudi Arabia (where the majority follow Sunni Islam) and Iran ((where the majority follow Shia Islam), those differences are insignificant when it comes to the core principles of the Shariah in which the concept of Jihad (holy war for the advancement of Islam) plays a prominent role. With that in mind, consider,

Ayatollah Ruhollah Moosavi Khomeini was remarkably forthright and consistent in his calls for jihad to subjugate the infidel. Consider this 1942 statement: “Those who study jihad will understand why Islam wants to conquer the whole world. All the countries conquered by Islam or to be conquered in the future will be marked for everlasting salvation. For they shall live under Allah’s law (Sharia). … Islam says: “Kill [the non-Muslims], put them to the sword and scatter their armies.” Islam says: “Whatever good there is exists thanks to the sword and in the shadow of the sword! People cannot be made obedient except with the sword! The sword is the key to paradise, which can be opened only for holy warriors (jihadists)!” There are hundreds of other Koranic psalms and hadiths (sayings of the prophet) urging Muslims to value war and to fight. Does all that mean that Islam is a religion that prevents men from waging war? I spit upon those foolish souls who make such a claim. … Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Those [who say this] are witless.”

Khomeini reiterated these views upon assuming power in 1979: “The great prophet of Islam [Big Mo himself, -ed.] carried in one hand the Koran and in the other a sword; the sword for crushing the traitors and the Koran for guidance. … Islam is a religion of blood for the infidels but a religion of guidance for other people. … We shall export our revolution to the whole world. Until the cry “There is no God but God” resounds over the whole world, there will be struggle.”

You see, Ed, when Muslims rattle that sword (a stand-in for other means of compulsion), they mean it. Islam, as your pre-show research should have disclosed to you, means submission.

  25. Max Publius says

    May 5, 2015 at 8:29 pm

Notice no Muslims protested out front at this event. No doubt in my mind the Muslim “community” expected and “prayed” for a grisly act of jihad to take place there that day.

  26. Canto28 says

    May 5, 2015 at 8:38 pm

The important point that some can’t seem to grasp is that religious rules, even strongly felt religious ones – and especially stupid ones like this prohibition against drawing Muhammad – that would restrict our right to free expression should be challenged and rebuked. That is all that this contest was rightly doing.

Any physical violence resulting should be blamed entirely on the evil doers of the violence. If we give in to violent Muslim’s desires because they are violent then we only invite more violence in the future as inevitably they will make new demands with threats of violence. And we are not helpless, we do have the physical means to fight back as was shown in Texas. The question is: Is America to be the land of the free or the land of the un-free to avoid Muslim violence.

The closer a person follows the ko ‘ran the worst it is. The closer a person follows the New Testament the better it is.

It has been almost 10 years since the 2006 Cartoon Riots, a “completely absurd event” as Robert Spencer called it, and nothing has changed. If anything it has gotten worse.

There was a generation of Americans who would have said that this was about a cartoon. Today, there is far too much analysis of the event that loses this basic fact – it was about a cartoon. People are getting killed over cartoons about Muhammad.

Islam has a long, long paper trail, and it should be obvious to any conscious person where this is going.

Berliner badgered, and interrupted Spencer, far more than he did to his Muslim guest. He needs to take a stand.

And, that is the message of the event. You have to take a stand now. You have to start saying you don’t like what you have been seeing from Islam for the past ten years, or more. This is your window of opportunity to say, this is beyond the pail, and you want to see action from Muslims addressing the murdering, that you are alarmed by the headlines, and of Muslims only paying lip service to American values.

Blaming the victims is complete folly. On this issue, you are either with us, or with the terrorists. Period.

I find it to be no small thing that the definition of incitement to violence is being twisted and distorted by nearly every media personality who addresses this topic.

The next time some militant in a faraway land kills a journalist trying to do his or her job I will now know the journalist was really at fault for inciting the violence. That is what I have learned from their coverage of this attempted mass slaughter of the attendees of an art exhibit. Obviously the journalists held by Iran and IS got what was coming to them. They should have known better.

So, by that thinking, the Tsarnaev brothers were provoked by the exisitence of infidels around them. They had it coming. No wait they were offended by the US (infidels) fighting against Muslims in Muslim lands. Well, since they are surrounded by infidels and they were offended … they had it coming.

The problem is Islam itself. Why…?

Allah says – “Kill the unbelievers, wherever you find them”

Mohammed said – ” I am the prophet who laughs while killing my enemies”u

    By contrast…

God says – “Vengeance belongs to me”

Jesus said – “Love your enemies”

Islam is a political, totalitarian ideology thinly disguised as a religion. Islam must be criticized by anyone who truly loves freedom. It cannot stand on its own merits in the arena of ideas because it falls apart under scrutiny. Any God who orders his followers to do his killing for him isn’t worthy of worship. And any so called prophet who thinks taking a human life is humorous is no prophet…only a cold blooded murderer, and possibly a psychopath.

At the very end of the video, the CAIR rep said that we should follow the example of Muhammad when dealing with insults; claiming that Muhammad never ordered anyone be killed for insulting Islam.. Robert quickly retorted, “What about Asma bint Marwan?” but unfortunately the music started and crosstalk covered up the dialogue. Robert’s “kill-shot” was “saved/ruined by the bell”. I wonder if the CAIR rep planned it that way…throw out an outrageous deception at very end…with no time to be disputed.

The koran disputes the Holy Bible, both old and new testaments and is blasphemous to Christianity and Judaism. The first commandment, to have no other gods, is as clear as it gets.I am not muslim and I do not recognize mohamed as anything but what the muslim books say about him and that is that he was psychopathic murderer.
I recognize muslims right to remain stupid but they have no right to impose their insanity on anyone else. Not in this country. Great job of spelling out who is doing the inciting Robert. A really great job.

      • Georg says

        May 6, 2015 at 5:49 am

I’ve been putting off expounding on this topic for some time now. Pointing to the phenomenon of Muslim racism carries the ironic and maddening eventuality that the accuser will be stupidly labeled as “racist” in this “inverted” discourse Geller recently pointed to on CNN. Sorry to use words like “discourse”, which have been hijacked by leftist academia, but the terms do retain their proper place in articulation of thought as expressed in the dictionary.

I would feel comfortable arguing Muslims are the most bigoted group I’ve come across and it’s not even close. To begin with, if one’s not Muslim, they’re often considered worthless, or worth less, by Muslims. That’s the most salient and persistent manifestation of their bigotry. But much of it crosses into racial bigotry, or racism, as well. When I portend about what’s not accepted/recognized, I am mostly speaking about Arabs being racist against non-Arabs, and people of European-descent in particular. Of course we all know many Muslims are non-Arab Africans, or from East[ern] Asia, but I will go ahead and speak now about Arabs, and include with them, to the facetious righteous indignation of those interested in style and not substance of argument, non-Arabs such as Turks, Afghans, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Muslim-Indians and Iranians.

*If this is too much for you, you’re too much for me, so feel free to leave the argument now. *

I have witnessed over, and over, and over again in my life gratuitous racism from the aforementioned groups. One bizarre strategy of their racist strategy in the West is to cry ‘racist” at the onset of the slightest breeze; it drags us into a nauseating landscape where we’re in a catch-21 of being accused of racist by pointing to their racism. Their seeing every White as racist is… well.. racist. But the tag “racist” is about the modern equivalent of “heretic” during the inquisition in the modern discourse. And we scurry.

Well, I won’t. Muslims, Arabs in particular, unendingly hold us to standards to which they do not hold themselves; that is bigoted, and based on the demographics I mentioned above, racist. As simple anecdote, I see Arab men rejoice in pursuing a White woman and recoil in fury at a White man or woman doing the same to an Arab. In the country I live I see opportunity extended by the fistful to Muslims and we’re generally met with a wry smirk, and really, I can’t blame them. It must be a bit amusing to be in dar-al-harb and proceed toward economic independence and well-being unadulterated while trampling across a group who you’ve been so taught is worthy of despisal. Dean Obeidallah is an example that comes to mind. There was a documentary about him and others some time back that was covering Muslim comedians in America. Dean was virulently anti-Western and anti-White, and joked accordingly, but anything and everything having to do with Muslims being the butt of jokes was recourse to fury. We won’t have that. He should be ashamed of himself– but Muslim shame is a non-entity. I have had a Muslim friend himself tell me there is not a word for “sorry” in Arabic like there is in English. Most people in the West simply do not understand our foe, nor their intent or capacities. A woman in the same film as Dean confronted, I mean attempted to have a pleasant interaction with, A Whitey, I mean person, in the street. She introduced herself as “Iranian-American”. The guy was, I think rightfully so, bemused. He said something to the affect of, “Although I am of Dutch ancestry, I do not go around saying I am Dutch-American, but that I’m American”. Predictably, the “Iranian-American” woman’s reaction was one of being put-off and silent. Again, this is what we face– and it is bigotry and ethnic supremacism skirting around racism.

I hope I haven’t belabored to point, but I feel it’s an important aspect of Muslim supremacism which goes unappreciated because of a Muslim reverse-psychology and the hysteria we have in the West of being perceived as racist, which they racistly, coldly and calculatingly exploit to advance their ends.

An enormous win of the debate by Robert and the principles of democracy.
He even managed to convince his TWO oponents (talk about a midpoint!) that he was absolutely right! That was a rare moment of clarity. But they will soon sink back into their absurd ideology.

One point that I find worth repeating, and IMO not stressed enough by Robert & Pam is the distinction between criticizing Islam and accusing all muslims. To say that criticism of Islam is “painting by a broad brush” all muslims it nonsense, and this oft repeated sleight of hand should be (again, IMO) constantly exposed and countered. Moreover, who cares if there are gazillion muslims? Democracy and free speech are not about the number of people offended by one’s speech. It’s quite the opposite. Give everybody the right to speak even if millions of other people don’t agree!

“To say that criticism of Islam is “painting by a broad brush” all muslims it nonsense…”

I disagree. Islam is the most important thing in life for over a billion Muslims. It’s silly to think that when one profoundly criticizes (if not condemns, let’s not mince words) what constitutes the dearly held, cherished worldview of over a billion people, that one can maintain an abstract, fastidiously gingerly distance from those multitudes. I say it’s time for the Counter-Jihad to stop tiptoeing on eggshells and worrying about what the PC MC thinks of us. We are not bigoted monsters; and it is not bigotry to condemn the ideology that over a billion Muslims hold so dearly — not if a good case can be made for that criticism/condemnation.

      • voegelinian says

        May 6, 2015 at 1:23 am

But — let’s not pretend we are not thereby implying a broad brush on those multitudes. Unless we are going to try to claim that 900 million Muslims don’t really care about Islam, and we can thus detach them from their Islam… (And I do notice some in the Counter-Jihad going through contortions like this, to avoid the obvious imputation of criticism on the Muslims who revere the Islam that is so rightly, roundly condemned.)

When asked about what CAIR’s members really do to incite muslims to tolerance regardless of offensive speech, the obvious hesitation to answering the question and the evasive answer from Nezar Hamze speaks for itself.

Furthermore, Nezar Hamze incessantly insisted on using one’s head to evaluate the possible cost of human lives before giving in to “offensive free speech” as radical muslims will commit acts of violence to curtail speech they find offensive. Here again, instead of condemning violent radical muslims and supporting free speech, Nezar Hamze only justifies their violent deeds as a result of “offensive free speech”. And so to avoid lost of human lives, we should restrict ourselves from offensive speech. That is Nezar Hamze’s narrative.

Muslims remain muslims and though they appear to be or pretend to be moderate, they will always abide by sharia laws. Let’s not forget. They will not abide by western values and while hoping that one day they will, we have to fight for the values we believe in… Robert and Pamela, let’s have many more Muhammad cartoon contest. If Islam is not here to take over, then why is CAIR so threatened by events showing CARTOONS? Cartoons!! It’s blowing my mind that cartoons could be accused of inciting violence. Cartoons!

If Islam is not evil, and it’s such a healthy and productive religion, then CAIR should be supporting these events and showing how they can tolerate ‘offensive’ speech, because that’s how big they are; that’s how secure they are; that’s how tolerant they are.

If I may be so bold as to make two suggestions. First, when debating a CAIR or similar representative, the question that needs to be put to them is, “what steps are you taking to convince fellow Muslims that Sharia’s death penalty for blasphemy does not apply in the 21st Century and more than any of the death penalties set out in Deuteronomy?” The Jews and Christians did this centuries ago.”
Second, in future drawing contests, since pornographic depictions of anything are not protected speech and distract from your point, your rules might include a clear prohibition of such submissions. In this debate, understandably with everything else that was going on, there was a teachable point that was missed. They showed two drawings, assuming you could see them, whose political message as fair comment should have been explained. The bloody knife toting Mohammad (who Ed refused to identify) did sport the IS logo on his turban. IS used Mohammad to justify its beheadings, and that was the point being made. Similarly, the winning entry which was also shown could be explained through its political context.
The argument needs to focus on the “fair comment” and each drawing needs to relate to a political point. The terrain needs to shift from the claim that the point of the exercise is simply to offend all Muslims to showing that the drawings are not gratuitously insulting and are in response to the terrorists own public justifications for their actions. The target is not Muslims but the texts of Islam and their use by jihadists and their silent supporters.
As to the issue of “yelling ‘fire’ in a theater” type incitement, you may wish to remind people that the Danish cartoons were published in a paper of very limited circulation and that certain imams spent months trying to incite people and eventually succeeded by adding additional unrelated material, such as a photograph of a person at a pig calling contest who had a plastic snout over his nose.

PRECISELY CORRECT: “the question that needs to be put to them is, “what steps are you taking to convince fellow Muslims that Sharia’s death penalty for blasphemy does not apply in the 21st Century”

Muslims have to be challenged on their death penalty for virtually everything. Furthermore, they should be challenged on the VIGILANTISM provision in Sharia…which is even worse than the death penalty, since ANY MUSLIM is obliged to carry out the death sentence if the state DOES NOT DO IT!

Sharia law makes every single Muslim a bounty hunter of Allah.

Sorry to disappoint you Charlie, but pornography is protected expression under the First Amendment which states “Congress shall make NO law…” (etc. emphasis mine). What part of the word “no” don’t you understand?

Of course “child pornography” by which it is generally assumed we mean photographic or video records of the sexual abuse of children is illegal, but it is illegal because no child can consent to such a thing and therefore no one can be in rightful possession of such. Drawings and paintings (from the imagination) of children being sexually abused are protected. In the case of representing Muhammad as a pedophile they are, in addition, protected as religious and political expressions.

Of course you don’t have to like them and you are protected from being involuntarily confronted with such in the public sphere. But freedom of symbolic expression is absolute.

I have been trying to make that point for several days now. Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller have both played into the hands of out way too politically correct news media by allowing the focus of the argument be JUST about free speech. I would support the free speech no matter who someone criticized, but both Robert and Pamela are missing a wonderful opportunity to talk about WHAT exactly do those cartoons depict about Islam. Everybody keeps saying the purpose was just to “poke them in the eye”

NO, the purpose of political cartoonists is to use a drawing to say in a small space what would take volumes to say with words, and those cartoons are saying things that NEED to be said about Islam.. Things like “having sex with children is EVIL and WRONG and…
Beating one’s wife for ANY reason and to ANY degree is EVIL and WRONG and…
Killing a Jew just because he is a Jew is EVIL and WRONG and…
Killing anyone for refusing to submit to your UNPROVABLE opinion about God’s rules is EVIL and WRONG and…

There are so many things evil and wrong about Islam that our appeasing press and public need to learn about that it boggles the mind!

My take: These terrorist filth dont need provocation to do what they did. They cannot be ‘incited’ – they are already ‘angry’ and will take any opportunity they can – to kill us in the name of their ‘god’.

They love attacking targets like cartoonists and writers. They love being provoked. It makes them look grand and important and needed.

    • Michael Copeland says

      May 6, 2015 at 11:09 am

      Indeed.
The Koran INSTRUCTS the killing of kuffar, the non-muslims,
“Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them” (9:5).
The instruction is not contingent on first being provoked.
The commands in the Koran are “true, universal, and trans-time”
(Ahmed Saad, North London Central Mosque).

It doesn’t matter if it’s cartoons, words on paper, arguments discussed on the internet, debate spoken on TV or ideas transmitted via Indian smoke signals. If you use any medium to criticism Islam or their prophet wanna-be, Muslims will be offended and they will send men to kill you.

This is NOT about cartoons. This is it not even JUST about free speech. It is about tenets found within Islamic holy texts that are EVIL and WRONG that NEED to be criticized

If you publically say that Mohammad was a child molesting pedophile and use Islamic holy texts to prove it and say that such behavior is evil and wrong then you are offending Muslims. You will be killed.

If you publically say that Mohammad endorsed wife beating and the subjugation of women and you use Islamic holy text to prove it and say that this is evil and wrong, you are offending Muslims. You will be killed.

If you say using words OR PICTURES Of MOHAMMAD that killing Jews just because they are Jews, or killing a child just because you know that child will grow up to be non-Muslim, or that burning alive a person because he doesn’t show up at the mosque for evening prayers is evil and wrong, then you are insulting Islam and you will be KILLED.

Ed Berliner is clearly another moron appeaser who has not taken any time to learn anything about Islam and the disgustingly evil instructions contained within it’s holy texts, the Quran, the ahadith and the Sera of Mohammad. Idiots like him are almost as big a threat to the freedoms we enjoy as are the bloodthirsty Islamic barbarians who believe they have a mandate from God to take away those freedoms.

Thank you again Robert Spencer for everything you do. Keep up the good work

The issue is the vigilantism enshrined in Sharia law. Muslims should be asked about this by all journalists. Muslims should be asked to defend it in a hard-hitting debate or in court.

      • mortimer says

        May 6, 2015 at 9:36 am

Sharia law encourages ordinary Muslims to take the law into their own hands.

Ed Berliner was entirely TOO rude to Mr. Spencer. He continued to interrupt the man yet not once did he interrupt the CAIR rep. Is Mr. Berliner a Catholic? His pope is very pro-Islam and he must be following the lead of his pope.

  63. Richie says

    May 6, 2015 at 8:58 am

Notice the liberal media, who are sudden concerned about ‘offensive’ speech against Muslims, never once denounce the bile uttered daily by Muslims, who call for muirder of all Jews

Once again, Muslims are painted by the media as helpless victims

Totally infuriated with Ed Berliner – biased is putting it mildly! Good job Robert for calling him on his prosecuting remarks and for constantly interrupting you. He should be fired – but of course we know that instead he will get a pat on the back from the leftists.

Ed Berliner tends to believe in the honesty of his Muslim guests even though they are lying to him. I sent an e-mail to him some time ago suggesting that he read the Qur’an because those guests have been practicing taqiyya on him. Obviously that hasn’t happened. Berliner tends to be very naive on the subject of Islam despite the fact that Robert has been on the show before, as well as Pam Geller, and explained the truth about Islam.

The newsmax host who does get it is Steve Malzberg. Robert has been on with him as well.

    Cartoons.
    Any book they don’t like
    Any movie they don’t like
    Any documentary they don’t like..
    Magazins they don’t like..
    Eating pork…
    Beer commercials..
TV anchors not wearing hi-jab, (like Allyson Camerata and MacCallum)
    Christmas decorations….

It is sickening to see these supposedly “educated” hosts are attacking freedom fighters like Robert and do not even question why two cult members of Islam were trying to kill innocent and unharmed people. Where do these Moslem terrorist come from, which mosque did they visit, where do they work, who are their friends and relatives, do they support killing people for a cartoon contest, did they have foreign connection, is it possible the “holy” Koran has something to do with it.

Real enemy is really the brain dead liberals and our America hating president. Let’s not underestimate them, they are the majority.

Why is that Spencer and Geller are condemned, but not a word about the threats to annihilate all non-muslims and destroy all cultural and political context from any other group. What’s offensive is radicals thinking they are right and the rest of the world is wrong and should be eradicated. What’s offensive is Berliner talking over those with whom he disagrees and then giving leading questions to encourage the CAIRE guy to give an answer that inflames the rest of us. Robert Spencer and Pam Geller have the right to their views and deserve the support of all of us.

Lessons learned from watching the main-stream media today:

Drawing a likeness of Muhammad to demonstrate free speech = hate speech, stupidity
Terrorists murdering (or attempting to murder) those involved with drawing Muhammad = provoked righteous indignation.

    Whew! Glad that’s settled.

I must say, I’m impressed with Robert Spencer’s eloquence and depth of thought, let alone speech. Very to the point and very well put. Everytime I listen to Spencer I learn something. He’s a walking/talking book on so many viewpoints it’s almost unbelievable. I’m writing from the Netherlands/Europe and now with the internet I can follow the discussion going on in America and it gives me hope that we will be moving in the right direction. Muslims must learn tolerance and must unlearn the hatred which is in the koran. There is no two ways about it but to keep confronting muslims with this. In the West, we have a society in which free speech and free thought is a principal guideline, and in which religion does not have a higher right or a morally higher point of view then others. It’s that simpel. In a pluralistic society nobody has the upper hand. Islam is not higher or mightier then the constitution and Mohammed is not a higher authority then the president. It’s that simpel. As soon as muslims start understanding that we can move forward. In the meantime, we must continue the satire, we must continue drawing cartoons and we must continue confronting people who see sharia law as a higher law then the constitution.

Robert please define slander under Islamic Sharia law before conversing with interviewers. The broader uninformed audience will not understand that even truthful, accurate comments can be viewed as hate speech or slander by muslims, and that muslims use taqiyya ( deceiving)to promote their ideology and mislead. Also most commentators use the word “extreme islam”, when it really is devout and following the Koran….according to their islamic scholars. Then people will understand what is going on….and also what the crimminal charge under the sharia to speak truthfully…which really is insanity and dangerous. Noticed that the CAIR representative was clean shaven to look like a Marine….no doubt he was carefully chosen by CAIR….slick.

I personally thought Mr. Hamze came off as relatively reasonable (certainly so if compared with many of his cohort). He appeared at least as someone with whom you can have an intelligent conversation.

In my opinion, when someone declares himself to belong to one or another religion, he can be expressing one of two things (by and large): that he truly subscribes to the doctrines of that religion, all of its dogma, and has never attempted to – or is incapable of – subjecting the tenets of that religion to critical examination; or, he is simply declaring his cultural identity.

I wonder into which of these two broad categories Mr. Hamze falls, or for that matter, Mr. Spencer – both of whom appear intellectually capable (the latter perhaps significantly more than the former). Of course, this is not a dichotomy, but more of a continuum.

In any event, Mr. Spencer and his colleagues are performing a great service to the world in defense of pluralistic society – even if it’s rarely recognized as such. The totalitarian, fascist agenda of the first of the two categories of Muslims (i.e. devout adherents to its tenets, rather than someone whose family name assigns that identity to him) is a very real and present danger.

He is NOT objective and exhibits a terrible bias or worse, is a Blooming IDIOT! Hopefully he was a temp employee that had his chance and is NO LONGER a representative of WND. PLEASE say this is so.

Glad you brought up at the end how mo’ ham ordered Marwan and Ashraf murdered for merely opposing him (CAIR are such deceitful liars!) May G-d bless and protect you, Gellar, and every Freedom-Loving patriot who is publically defending America and Freedom!

At 16:00 into this video, Hamze states CAIR-Florida, for which he says he CAN speak for, would be willing to sit down and discuss this issue. THAT’S a LIE. I have offered to set up a discussion, or a debate, between Hassan Shibly, the Director of CAIR- Florida, and any other expert of his choosing, and two experts of my choosing, and have the discussion conducted by an impartial third party. Shiby has flat out refused, more than once, unless I agreed that the discussion would NOT be recorded on video or audio. In other words, he would be willing to have a discussion, but will not allow it to be “on the record.”

I don’t know Hamze personally, but I DO know Shibly and he has walked away from my numerous efforts to find common ground between our two camps. When confronted with facts that support an opposing point of view, Shibly responds with accusations of “Islamophobia!” and runs away. Hence, I say they are cowards and are only interested promoting their rhetoric to those who can be influenced by their deceit.

The offer still stands – I will set up a fair and open discussion on this issue, with equal and ample time for each to present their case, between Shibly and any another expert of his choosing, and two experts of my choosing, for a recorded discussion/debate which either and both sides can utilize to expose the other, and let the public decide which side promotes hate and deception.

Please note; I was also in Garland, Texas at the “Draw Mohammed Art Exhibition and Contest” and I affirm the event was held to defend our Freedom of Speech and show our refusal to submit to Islamic threats of reprisal. The issue is simple; Which reigns supreme in America – Our Constitutional Right of Free Speech, or Shariah Blasphemy Laws? If we must remain silent for fear of Islamic reprisal, then we have lost that Right of Free Speech. I will NOT submit!
