Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Author of “counter terrorism curriculum” advocates murder for blasphemy

Jun 25, 2015 8:42 pm By Robert Spencer

A chink in Qadri’s moderate armor. Of course, I could have told you this would happen. “The author of the ‘counter terrorism curriculum’ advocates murder for blasphemy,” by Kunwar Shahid, June 25, 2015 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

After the UK’s youngest suicide bomber, 17-year-old Talha Asmal blew himself up while waging the jihad of ‘Islamic State’ (IS), also known as ISIS, David Cameron urged Muslim communities to do more to fight Islamist terrorism.

Accordingly Minhaj-ul Quran International (MQI), ostensibly a counter-extremism organisation, announced the launch of the first Islamic ‘counter-terrorism curriculum’.

The curriculum was launched in London on Tuesday.

The ‘Islamic Curriculum on Peace and Counter Terrorism’ was designed by a Pakistani cleric and politician, Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, renowned in the West for his edict against terrorism.

The curriculum itself addresses all the alarming parts of Islamic scriptures: the rules for setting up an ‘Islamic state’, armed Muslim rebellions, the doctrine of jihad, the violent verses in the Quran that promote killing and the authenticity of controversial hadiths.

However, the answer provided is one that we’ve heard on multiple platforms, in a plethora of instances, especially since 9/11: following the ‘real’ teachings of Islamic scriptures, the Quran and the hadiths.

While the rhetoric in the apparent counter-terrorism solution for British Muslims is self-defeating, the biggest question mark is over the man designing the curriculum himself.

In addition to promoting fascism through his politics in Pakistan, Qadri is renowned for giving contradictory statements with regards to the very laws and ideas that he’s presently challenging in London through the recently launched curriculum.

Just like his ‘Fatwa on Terrorism and Suicide Bombings’ claimed that  “Terrorism… has no place in Islamic teaching and no justification can be provided for it,” the MQI’s ‘Islamic Curriculum on Peace and Counter Terrorism’ condemns violent jihad, and antediluvian Islamic laws as being ‘un-Islamic’.

However, back home in Pakistan, Qadri proudly takes ownership of formulating Pakistan’s blasphemy law, which has been abused to suffocate and intimidate religious minorities through blatant mob violence.

When addressing western audiences, Qadri claims that the blasphemy law does not apply to non-Muslims. Back home in Pakistan he has advocated ‘killing blasphemers… like dogs’.

This video highlights his contradictory stance on the blasphemy law, and showcases his claim that he incorporated section 295-C to the Pakistan Penal Code which sanctions the death punishment for defiling Islamic scriptures or insulting Prophet Muhammad.

Qadri is renowned for saying whatever sells, whether it’s anti-government fascism through his politics and a bigoted version of Islam back home, or apologism in the garb of Islamic ‘moderation’ in the West.

With Islamist terrorism reverberating all over the world and over 700 British citizens having fled to fight along with ISIS, the need for reform among Muslims around the globe is evident.

However, ideological salesmen who change their ideas to suit the audience’s demands can never be reformists.

Reformers need to challenge the acceptable. In countries like Pakistan where bigotry is etched in the Constitution, reform would entail challenging the accepted existence of religious laws and propagating secularism.

In secular societies like the UK, where open debate on Islam (hopefully) can be held, reform would mean an honest reflection on Islamic scriptures and their role in fueling the propaganda that compels a University of Westminster graduate like ‘Jihadi John’ to leave his IT job and join ISIS.

The ‘Islamic Curriculum on Peace and Counter Terrorism’ can basically be summarised as the now ubiquitous apologia that ISIS ‘has nothing to do with Islam’, which is the laziest counter-terrorism argument that one can come up with.

To call it a reformist effort would be to reduce the long impending Islamic reformation to a couple of hours’ worth of Google search, during which one can find countless articles using ‘context’ and ‘misinterpretation’ to excommunicate Islamist terrorists.

Ironically this replicates radical Islamists’ favourite vocation: apostatising anyone with a different take on Islamic scriptures.

The reforms that we Muslims need is to accept that ISIS’ Islam is just as authentic a version of Islam as any other.

For literalism is another of the ‘multiple interpretations’ of Islam that we like to expound. Islamic reformation, thence, would mean revisiting our approach to the infallibility of Islamic scriptures, without conjuring apologia for ‘true Islam’, and accepting the idea that a Muslim can unapologetically condemn Islamic doctrines.

Anyone who peddles the concept of ‘true Islam’ – just like any other religion – no matter how peaceful and tolerant their version of Islam might be, inadvertently gives credence to the likes of ISIS.

For if there is a ‘true’ version, what’s stopping the radicals from believing that theirs is the one?…

Herpetology? Are you complaining about our Western politicians as well? As one snake to another, they apparently see themselves in the Islamists and avoid criticizing them. Professional courtesy?

All I can say is, None of them are King snakes. And they certainly are not harmless to innocent humans. And they should definitely not be trusted.
Did you ever see, or are you familiar with Rikki Tikki Tavi? If someone with real integrity, honesty, and courage stands up to them,…

Malodorous, putrid piles of hot, steaming taqiyya. That’s what Qadri shovels. Whatever sells. Whatever he can slip past the gullible Western politicians desperate to court Muslim votes and prove how broad-minded they are!

Western politicians are shameless vote whores who want to pretend the Emperor’s new Islamic clothes are miraculous. Then they slander the well-informed counterjihadists who have actually read Sharia law, the Sira and hadiths and understood them in the same way that Al Azhar University understands them.

Western pols are contemptible sell-outs to liars like Qadri. They are disgusting traitors of Western civilization.

Islam is the inversion of Western culture and the inversion of morality.

Now that the taquiya has been exposed, what will be the impact on his efforts to counter radicalism in the UK?

He needs a dose of his own medicine, which is exactly what he will not accept.

And he probably has some money coming to him from the UK government for these brave efforts. And it will very likely keep flowing to him. Because that is the tolerant thing to do.

This individual, Mu(ch)ammad tahir ul-Q(u)dri emits more stech than a 500 lbs. bag of fertiliser.

A few years ago he had an interview with a Danish television which is readily available on youtube:

    http://youtu.be/pi7_JtF_9F4

If you wish to have a few laughs during the day please take the time to see this clip.

Q(u)dri is a cunning fraudster to whom no sane individual should extend any courtesy nor the slightest ounce of respect.

A bag of fertiliser has a great deal of economic utility, as does a pig; a pig turns grass to tasty bacon & ham. I must say that I make this statement without any intent to cause any offence nor insult to pigs.

I hope that you’ll take the time to have a few laughs by taking the time to watch this clown on youtube.

    A tricky one.
I don’t suppose it is acceptable for an infidel to say who is the right one. And it does not look like both sides, if they are sides, will reach an agreement.
    And so the war continues.
I wonder on whose side are all the UK rapists, for example.
Maybe each side of Islam is Islam.
    Islam is Islam is Islam.
And it does say in the Koran, i read decades ago, to go into other countries and give them Islam. If they won’t have Islam then kill them. Not far from the beginning i think.
All this reforming chat and moderate chat is all dilly dallying for time for the great take over that looks more in sight than ever before.
Every atom of Islam is a blag towards world rule.
    And people stand around watching.

People who kill the Innocents Alleging Blasphemy is Meaningless. It is something Like Breaking the Mirror, for the Face is Ugly.

I don’t have a problem with different laws in Pakistan and the UK because after all Muslims are not the majority in the UK and have to make some adjustment in order to live there. Why not just say that? I have a problem with the blatant lie and obfuscation to claim he had nothing to do with the law in Pakistan because he had refused to be part of the administration, then bragging that he was the primary person responsible for the law and complaining he didn’t get proper credit for it. That shows a diseased mind.

Sometime back in 2010 the following quotes is from Dr Qadri’s organisation Minhaj’s own site (this page has now been removed from Minhaj site)

For three days from November 14 to 17, 1985 Dr Qadri presented his arguments continuously before the Federal Sharia Court of Pakistan to determine the quantum of punishment to be awarded to a person guilty of contempt of the finality of the Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him), an extremely delicate legal matter.
He established, on evidence from the Quran and Sunna, that a person guilty of contempt of the finality of the Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) deserved death sentence and the punishment will be imposed as Hadd.
The act of contempt of the finality of the Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) is a crime, which cannot be tolerated whether its commission is direct or indirect, intentional or un-intentional. The crime is so sanguine that even his repentance cannot exempt him from the penalty of death
Dr Qadri placed a massive array of arguments before the learned Court and particularly stressed the point that no lacuna should be allowed in the legal structure of an Islamic state to encourage this form of sacrilege. The chambers of the Court will continue to reverberate with the passion and eloquence with which Dr Qadri conducted his defense of the sanctity and dignity of the the Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him).

    This is even more amazing

When the Federal Sharia Court of Pakistan gave its verdict against “Rajm” (stoning to death) as Hadd, the Government of Pakistan filed a review petition against the decision of the court. In his capacity as Juris Consult, Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri came to the help of the Government at this crucial juncture, and through cogent reasoning and profuse illustration spread over four days from 20th to 23rd June, 1982, forced the Federal Sharia Court to reverse its decision and uphold Rajm as Hadd.

    More

In another case the Blasphemy Law protecting the esteemed station and reverence of the Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) was also passed for the first time in the history of Pakistan after Shaykh-ul-Islam presented his arguments to the court, over a period of three days, culminating in an Act of Parliament. Shaykh-ul-Islam presented his arguments to the federal Sharia Court for long 18 hours which culminated into formulation of section 295-C

[295-C is from the part of Pakistan’s legal code that covers blasphemy. It makes it an offence “by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representation or by any imputation, innuendo, or insinuation, directly or indirectly, defiles the sacred name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad”. Whoever transgresses shall be punished with death, or imprisonment for life, and shall also be liable to fine. It was their vociferous opposition to 295-C and the other blasphemy laws that cost Pakistani politicians Salmaan Taseer and Shahbaz Bhatti their lives earlier this year.]

    Now more on this snake

In the wake of the motoon

    Quadri demanded

    1. All newspapers that have published the caricatures must unreservedly apologise and withdraw their publications.

    2. Clear legislation needs to be passed by all Governments which balance the right to freedom of speech with the rights of individuals and communities that their sacred beliefs should not be insulted and ridiculed.

3 All Governments should then ensure that any such legislation is enforced through the due process of the law and this type of incitement and ridicule never happens again.

To Sdmeru- I am responding to your post about Pakistan and blasphemy. To commit blasphemy, a person must make a contemptuous or profane act, utterance or writing against God or a sacred entity, or claim for oneself the attributes and rights of God. Muhammed was a human being. He can never be looked upon as a god, or “God” or a sacred entity. To believe that any human could be one of those shows great confusion and idolatry because any idol is a “false god”. Muhammad must never be equated with God or any “god”. Dr. Qadri is guilty of blasphemy because he has by extension made Islam’s prophet a god. Dr Qadri deserves the death penalty under his own writings. Don’t believe this jerk, he is wrong. Humans can be guilty of blaspheming God, but they can’t be guilty of blaspheming a fellow human.

To Semeru- Thank you for your response. Muhammed was a man, he was a creature, and therefore he was created. He is not the Creator. So he is finite, not infinite. Muhammed, being created, would always be in a state of flux, there is nothing final or uncompromising about him. God is final, infinite and unchanging. God is perfect, and no respecter of any person. So I maintain Dr Qadri is full of himself. His writings elevate Muhammed to be a “sacred entity”, which he ain’t, baby. He is just a human. Good bye from Brooklyn, NY.

      • Semeru says

        Jun 28, 2015 at 9:28 pm

Nobody here is claiming that mohammed was not human.

I think you should understand what the mainstream moslems mean by the finality of mohamed

        First look at the shahada

There is no god but God. Muhammad is the messenger of God. All moslems swear to this creed, including Quadri, (and ironicaly the blasphemous Ahmadiyya)

Secondly look at the following Verse in the Quran:

“Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but (he is) the Apostle of God, and the Seal of the Prophets: and God has full knowledge of all things. (Quran, 33:40)”

Comments from the foot notes of the translation of Sheikh (Minister) Abdullah Yusuf Ali;”When a document is sealed, it is complete, and there can be no further addition. mohammad closed the long line of Messengers. Allah’s teaching is and will always be continuous, but there has been and will be no prophet after mohammad. The later ages will want thinkers and reformers, not prophets. This is not an arbitrary matter. It is a decree full of knowledge and wisdom, ‘for allah has full knowledge of all things.'”

In the above verse we see allah clearly saying that prophet muhammad is the last Prophet (Messenger) sent by Allah Almighty to Mankind. This means that allah in the above verse said that the moslem prophet muhammad is the last Messenger and prophet of god.

The following Saying from the hadithe.

“In My Ummah (Islamic Nation), there shall be born Thirty Grand Liars (Dajjals), each of whom will claim to be a prophet, But I am the Last Prophet; there is No Prophet after Me. (Abu Dawood Vol 2 p. 228; Tirmidhi Vol 2 p.45)”

The blasphemy laws that Quadri helped push through is as follows

298-A: Use of derogatory remarks, etc., in respect of holy personages:*
Whoever by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representation, or by any imputation, innuendo or insinuation, directly or indirectly, defiles the sacred name of any wife (Ummul Mumineen), or members of the family (Ahle-bait), of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), or any of the righteous Caliphs (Khulafa-e-Rashideen) or companions (Sahaaba) of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both.

Nothing here that indicates Quadri is elevating mohammed to god

        More
298-C. Person of Qadiani group, etc., calling himself a Muslim or preaching or propagating his faith:

Any person of the Qadiani group or the Lahori group (who call themselves ‘Ahmadis’ or by any other name), who directly or indirectly, poses himself as a Muslim, or calls, or refers to, his faith as Islam, or preaches or propagates his faith, or invites others to accept his faith, by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representations, or in any manner whatsoever outrages the religious feelings of Muslims shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years and shall also be liable to fine.

Again, nothing elevating mohammed to the status of god.

Finally I agree that Dr Qadri deserves the death penalty under his own writings he has a lot of blood on his hands

From 1987 to 2014 over 1300 people have been accused of blasphemy, mostly non-Muslim religious minorities. One of the most notable is Bibi Asia

An accusation of blasphemy commonly subjects the accused, police, lawyers, and judges to harassment, threats, attacks and rioting. Critics complain that Pakistan’s blasphemy law “is overwhelmingly being used to persecute religious minorities and settle personal vendettas,” but calls for change in the blasphemy laws have been strongly resisted by Islamic parties. As of 2014 no one been legally executed for blasphemy, but 17 people are on death row for the crime, and a considerable number of accused of or connected with the issue have been killed at the hands of mob or other vigilante violence.

Over 50 people accused of blasphemy have been murdered before their respective trials were over, and prominent figures who opposed blasphemy laws (Salman Taseer, the former governor of Punjab, and Shahbaz Bhatti, the Federal Minister for Minorities) have been assassinated after urging reform of the law. Altogether, since 1990, 62 people have been murdered as a result of blasphemy allegations

To Semeru- I really do appreciate your 9:28 pm June 28 comment. You did a lot of work and I thank you for your due diligence. Now I will comment. One of your personages states that “the later ages will want thinkers and reformers, not prophets.” This may be true, but I do not believe any of the imams, mullahs or anyone in “Islamdom” has the faintest clue as to how to reform Islam. I suggest, and I am not being sarcastic here, that a scholarly body decide to wipe out any and all verses of the Quran that mandate to kill infidels, tax Christians and Jews, take slaves, take sex slaves, rape anyone, and take child brides. Also, to take only 1 wife would be grandfathered in, making polygamy illegal. So the nasty and anti-society parts of Islam would be purged and in their places could be learning advices for skill sets, strategies and directives on how to earn a living and provide for yourself and family. There would also be mention of the 8 identified intelligences of mankind to help Muslims see what their intelligenes are so they and their families could benefit. (Example of 2 intelligences are the visual spatial and ways with animals, nature and the environment.) This would be true reform, and it would show genuine caring on the part of the scholars for the Umnah. My next point is about 298A; Use of derogatory remarks, etc. in respect of holy personages.* The * was not cross-referenced. The term “holy personage” is not defined. The American Heritage Dictionary states that “holy” means “sacred, sacrosanct, worthy of worship or veneration, set apart for religious purposes, deserving of special respect or reverence.” With these meanings in mind, I don’t think Muhammed, the prophet of Islam, is a holy personage, because he murdered, raped, pillaged, stole, lied and was a pedophile, even though in the 7th century child brides were common, but that doesn’t make it right or good. And it is interesting that his wives, relatives, companions and anyone he so designated got the same protection from criticism that he did. Talk about a “Saudi Arabian mob boss”! It is also implied but not stated that the average “Joe” of Muhammed’s time could be cursed, insulted, treated like crap, but that would be ok. Very strange! And what struck me silly was that the accused “blasphemer” was not the only party subject to threats, harassment, attacks and riots, but so we’re the police, lawyers, judges, in other words the very people who are supposed to uphold the laws in a “civilized” society; those who create, implement and enforce the laws. Truly astounding! Lastly, from the information you provided, Muhammed cannot be criticized neither by outright expression, nor implication, nor even by someone perceiving the criticism from another person’s body language or facial expressions. That is hideous! I don’t see how anyone with a brain could buy into this type of thinking. Again, thank you for the work you did so I could get a good understanding of this topic, disgraceful as it is.
