Common sense — but watch for the cries of “Islamophobia,” which, after all, always come in service of the jihad terror imperative.
“Chad bans Islamic face veil after suicide bombings,” BBC, June 17, 2015:
Chad has banned people from wearing the full-face veil, following two suicide bomb attacks on Monday.
Chad’s government accused Nigerian militant Islamist group Boko Haram of the bombings which killed more than 20 people.
The prime minister said the veil was used as a “camouflage” by militants and said the security forces will burn all full-face veils sold in markets.
Chad is to host a new regional force set up to tackle Boko Haram.
The militant group has not commented on the attack but has previously threatened to attack Chad, after its forces started to help Nigeria.
At a meeting with religious leaders, Prime Minister Kalzeube Pahimi Deubet said the ban applied everywhere, not only public places.
He added that any clothing that covers everything but the eyes was a camouflage.
The attackers were on motorcycles when they blew themselves up outside two police buildings in the capital, N’Djamena….

The face veil is a potential risk for criminals, but it’s also gender and religious apartheid, supremacism, misogyny inequality.
The risk of criminal’s concealing their faces makes the veil unacceptable in a free and democratic society.
The Islamic veil is supposed to protect Muslim women from being raped…that alone makes it unacceptable. It is discriminatory. The Islamic face veil declares that some women MAY BE RAPED with impunity. Either ALL women must be protected from rape or none!
There should be no discrimination on the basis of religion. Islam discriminates on the basis of religion and gender and therefore most of Islamic practices should be banned as discriminatory.

The face veil is a potential risk for criminals…
Think of it: some young dude, maybe a hillbilly meth addict with bad teef, dons a niqab, and enters a bank lobby to rob the place. When the tellers see it’s a Moslima, they go into fully liberal ass kissing mode, making the crime that much easier.

Perhaps the UK should give it some thought….

Now that a predominantly Muslim nation has taken the plunge and banned this perfidious mask expect others to follow suit. With one stroke Chad has lifted the status of its women a few notches.

Interesting! If Chad has the guts to take that stand what the hell is wrong with Europe and North America.

It’s ok when Muslims insist on safety and common sense but when we do it’s discrimination and Islamophobia.
I don’t know why we think we have to justify our laws and expectations to them.

I agree completely!

I am not necessarily against the ban but I thought it was hypocritical when France banned the niqab. Before you start making laws that counter Islamic practices worry about STOPPING making laws that are giving into Muslims’ demands.

First Chad then another country bans the burka?
If Chad is mainly muslim and Chad is getting applause for the ban then is not that then applause for Islam?
It’s going nowhere, i think, banning the burka, Islam is Islam, burka or no burka. It’s not like Chad is going to ban the Koran or any tenets of Islam at all.
Just a thought
RonaldB says
Banning the burka is on the face of it a public safety measure, and therefore fully justified.
Going a bit further, it is a statement that Muslims, like everyone else, must conform their religious practices to the law of the land, and not the other way around. The next place to go is that Islam must conform its religious practices: no public prayers where people are inconvenienced, no public footwashes, no days off on Muslim holidays, no zoning exemptions for mosques, no exemptions in the animal cruelty laws for halal meats.
There are actually many ways to assert a society’s identity without suppressing Islam per se as a private religion. Once a society begins to push back against the relentless pressure from Muslims for concessions to sharia law, the further general questions of the presence of Muslims themselves can be considered at more leisure.

Common sense is missing in most governments. Common sense says that criminals hide their faces so as not to be recognized when committing crimes and later so no one will know who they are. Highwaymen of old, bank robbers, guys who held up trains and stage coaches…all wore scarves to cover the face.
Why didn’t the country have such a law? islam.
What about banning islam? It is a teaching in opposition to common sense. Also, to morality, decency and all manner of ethical behavior. In opposition to love, humanity and the Golden Rule. In opposition to all that is right and good and just. In opposition to truth.
islam is a wild beast, adhered to by the rest-less parts of humankind.
Peggy says
Gving Chad applause for this is not giving applause for Islam. It’s applause for a sensible decision.
Banning the burka in Chad gives us more legitimacy to ban it here and that has to be a good thing, not that we should need to get this legitimacy from anyone in the first place. We should not have to justify to invaders why we want to preserve our culture.

Yes but will western “leaders” EVER follow suit? I know, rhetorical question!

You mean that people actually used face veils and explosives to something other than what they were created for?
I’m shocked! Shocked, I tell ya!! Shocked and appalled!!!

As for as use the Muslim terrorists using girls and women at human bombs or tools for the jihad it, again, should be remembered the much is this Islamic brainwashing that is done to those females is the deceptive work of the Muslim clerics ,such as the imams. Those disingenuous imams with their lines and lies that they keep telling these girls and women over and over again. Some of those mind programming lies and lines as such as “We will honor you.” and “You will go to paradise” and “We are doing this for Allah” That is sure some strange kind of “We” For as the reader might, very much, notice those imams are never the one who actually go out and commit the suicide bombing. The Muslim clerics just mind condition other people into the mindset of wanting to preform a “martyrdom operation.” Then all the same time such murderous attacks are going on those same imams who thoroughly brainwashed those girls and women in the first place , sit home safe. This ,in itself ,say much about the real character of those Muslim clerics.

Good.
The wearing of face veils is nothing but a symbol of guilt.
