Muslims must not wear anything that might “resemble the attire of unbelievers.” The Islamic State in these billboards insists that it wants all of life to be regulated according to Sharia, Islamic law. Yet Western leaders persist in insisting that the international Islamic State phenomenon, growing more lethal by the day, has nothing to do with Islam.
And in the West, Leftist multiculturalists and bemused cultural conservatives such as Robert George celebrated “Hijab Day,” which is a statement against the oppression that hijab-wearing women allegedly face in the West, while ignoring completely the real danger that women in places such as where these billboards go up face if they don’t comply with the mandated dress rules.
“How ISIS sells Sharia law in Libya: Terror group erects chilling billboards ordering women they must wear baggy, heavy hijab that covers them completely and not wear perfume,” by Jenny Stanton, Mailonline, July 15, 2015:
Enormous billboards have been put up in an Islamic State stronghold in Libya warning women they must wear baggy hijab that covers their entire bodies and no purfume [sic].
The posters set out ‘Sharia stipulations for hijab‘, which include wearing dense material, no big brand names and a robe that does not ‘resemble the attire of unbelievers’.
The billboards have been put up in Sirte in Libya, where militants have been busy instilling its brutal interpretation of radical Sharia law.
There is no other Sharia law — i.e., one that is not “radical.” It is just not fully enforced in most Muslim countries.
…The latest instrument of oppression – the huge billboard – depicts a woman covered head to toe in a black robe, alongside the list of ‘stipulations’.
The hijab must baggy and cover the whole body, and made of heavy material. It must not be made by a famous brand, resemble men’s clothes or garments worn by ‘female unbelievers’, be decorated so it attracts attention, or be scented.
Another large poster installed in the same city reads: ‘We want nothing other than the rule of God’s law among us‘. It outlines the terrorists’ desire for people to live according to Sharia Law.
Punishments for breaking the code of conduct are brutal and bloody, ranging from 80 lashes for drinking alcohol and losing a hand for theft, to death for committing blasphemy.
Those who commit adultery will be stoned to death if the adulterer was married and lashed 100 times and exiled if he or she was unmarried.
Those engaged in sodomy (homosexuality) will be sentenced to death, along with those who ‘spy for the unbelievers’
A document revealing the list of crime and punishments was released late last year, but ISIS is inventing increasingly sadistic methods to punish people….
