The JV team continues its busy Ramadan. “ISIS-linked terrorist’s rocket attack sets navy warship ablaze in Mediterranean,” by Chris Hughes, Mirror, July 16, 2015:
ISIS forces dramatically blew up a navy ship today in the first sea attack the extremists have launched.
They fired a deadly rocket salvo at the Egyptian patrol boat which burst into flames as it patrolled the Mediterranean off northern Sinai.
A coastguard vessel just two miles out to sea had earlier opened fire on militants on the coast of northern Sinai, which borders Israel and Gaza.
When heavily armed fighters fired back they opened up with suspected rocket propelled grenades which smashed into the boat’s side, exploding on impact.
The ship regularly patrols the coast there and it is thought ISIS jihadis may have lain in wait for it.
It is thought to be the first sea attack by the Islamic State to hit a target.
ISIS has a foothold of around 2,000 fighters on Sinai – a peninsula whose southern tip is popular with British holidaymakers including the resort of Sharm el Sheikh.
The terror network established itself in Sinai around six months ago.
Fortunately there were no fatalities among the vessel’s crew in the shootout, according to Egyptian military spokesman, Brigadier General Mohammed Samir….

Mohammed promised paradise to whoever attacked by sea. ISIS considers the Egyptians to be infidels.
ISIS is ‘more-Islamic-than-thou’. Kill, kill, kill.
Hope the Egyptian sailors are ok and hope the Egyptian army can get their act together and arrest those villains.

Something is not right about this story. If the patrol boat was 2 miles off shore when it was hit, ISIS could not have hit it with RPGs. RPGs have a max range of anout 1,000 meters before the warhead self detonats. The story does not mention ISIS using a boat but “laid in wait” assumingly on the shore.
Though not entirely conclusive, the ability to hit that PB two miles out indicates harware far more sophisticated than RPGs.
If ISIS had used a boat, the sailors on the PB would have been in a wartime posture and would have seen them coming.

Excellent points. I’d imagine the sailors of the Caliphate have access to all sorts of anti-ship ordnance.

I am thinking ATGMs. They have the range and accuracy to hit a patrol boat two miles offshore.

With Obama’s help they can have access to anything they want.

This is a birthday card from the newly renamed Caliph Ibrahim to the apostate Egyptians. It’s also a move up in the level of Jihad activism of the New Caliphate by moving into naval warfare. I wonder where the Caliph obtained the surface-to-surface missile; it must’ve had an accurate guidance system of some kind, maybe heat seeking. Just wait until Ibrahim gets his hands on some Exocets, then it’ll be time for some righteous Moslem activism on the Suez or even the Strait of Hormuz.

Kept MSM will not raise hue and cry about the complicity of the House of Saud in all this. I think the real power brokers have built up IS as a bulwark against Iran and its Shi’ite allies. They see all this mayhem as necessary, and not particularly evil. Saud hates Egypt and its leader Sisi, who called them on their shit.

So far BBC has some decent information including pictures of the attack provide by ISIS. This is starting to look more like an ambush on a patrol boat sitting quietly at a mooring buoy, not the glorious firefight both side have been boasting.
Trust your own eyes folks.

Weapons from Obama through Benghazi? Who is supplying these weapons to ISIS. This is not AK 47 type arms.
