Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Miami Muslim wanted to shoot people in stadium to create chaos in city

Jul 27, 2015 10:21 pm By Robert Spencer

MIGUEL-MORAN-DIAZ-ISISSo many converts to Islam somehow get the crazy idea that Islam mandates warfare against unbelievers, and yet there is not a single program anywhere in the world in any mosque or Islamic school to teach converts to reject this understanding of Islam that the vast majority of Muslims ostensibly rejects.

“Miami federal judge sentences ISIS sympathizer to 10 years,” by Alfonso Chardy, Miami Herald, July 27, 2015 (thanks to Darcy):

A Miami fedeal [sic] judge sentenced a Cuban–born sympathizer of the terror group ISIS to 10 years in prison Monday.

“A more severe sentence is needed to protect the public,” U.S. District Court Judge Joan Lenard said during a lengthy statement explaining why she imposed the maximum sentence listed in the indictment, instead of showing leniency as the defense requested.

The sentence closed a chapter in a case that drew international attention when it first emerged in federal court records in April. The allegations in an FBI criminal complaint caused a sensation because the informant related that the suspect spoke of smuggling a rifle into a stadium and shooting people to create chaos in the city.

Miguel Morán Díaz, 45, pleaded guilty May 27 to charges of possessing firearms despite being a convicted felon. Morán was previously sentenced to 46 months in the federal penitentiary in 2005 in a cocaine case. The indictment made no mention of his sympathies for ISIS, but the criminal complaint filed in the case by an FBI agent said Díaz spoke to an informant of his desire of becoming a “lone wolf” for the terror group that controls parts of Syria and Iraq and which has inspired hundreds of foreigners in several countries to join its ranks or express sympathy for it.

Toward the end of the hour-long sentencing hearing in Miami federal court, Diáz’s attorney, federal public defender Daniel Ecarius, told Lenard that his client made reference to ISIS simply “as conversation” and that in some instances he “was encouraged by the informant” to make those references.

Díaz, who appeared in court in a khaki detainee uniform, his ankles shackled, spoke briefly at his sentencing.

“I want to apologize to the community,” he said in a low voice. “I guarantee that it won’t happen again.”…

How grand. Go back to sleep, then.

It is just me, but I see so many journalists making simple spelling mistakes in their articles?

Brian – As someone who occasionally does copy-editing, I’m acutely aware of how carelessly things are written – or thrown together – these days. I think “fedeal” above is a typo, but it seems even cursory proofreading has vanished from a journalist’s lexicon. Just another example of our sinking culture. Cheers! Quotha R

“” encouraged by informant to make these reference”” in that case Diaz maybe should have turned in the informant.

to BC – I thought “lexicon” could be used as I used it to suggest that “proofreading” has disappeared from words/concepts used by journalists of today. Non? I meant lexicon as all the words journalists have at their disposal…non? As one interested in words, I’ll fret over this! Cheers! Quotha

It’s always disappointing to see so many misspellings of 4th grade words. Typos I understand. I have 10 thumbs myself. But I AM ok with 4th grade words & then some.

I’ve always thought that a terrorist attack at a sporting event would be (by vile, filthy, terrorist standards) a fantastic success. There are so many people that are completely defenseless concentrated in an area, and, furthermore, it would take a long time before help could come. Frankly, having been to dozens of MLB games- and probably roughly a dozen or so NBA games, I slightly fear for my life in those settings. The body count and chaos created by such an event would be absolutely devastating – it would probably get things to the point where I would no longer be willing to go to sporting events. Here’s to hoping something like this never, ever happens. Hopefully this turd never gets out of prison.

Check out the ’76 movie “2 Minute Warning.”

Been decades since I’ve seen it, and it might be a bit hokey, but it’s probably a good example of what would happen if this nut had succeeded.

The devout Floridian Muslim jihadist convict will be studying the Qur’an and Muhammad’s Sunnah night and day while in prison. After all, that is his chosen belief system, and one must never criticize Islam upon pain of death..

And he will no doubt spend a good portion of his time spent in jail trying to convert other prisoners to Islam. And when he gets out of prison he will of course be wanting to kill and die for Islamic theology and law. Muhammad the perfect prophet of Islam would have it no other way..

We ex-Muslims know that Islam is a heinous fraud.

Islam is no “the religion of peace.” Islam is primarily a religion of “injustice, intolerance, hatred, and violence.” The fact is, if we non-Muslims were to say about Muslims what the Qur’an says about us, we would be arrested for hate speech. The Qur’an largely preaches discrimination, death, and imposition of its dogma on everyone. Certainly some Muslims will be offended by such statements, but frankly, so what? Judaism and Christianity, the world’s two other major monotheistic religions, have had to face the harshest of scrutiny and criticism for several hundred years which continues to this day. Islam must not be granted any special privileges or be exempt from such treatment – the implications are of tremendous importance.

Here is a recent statement from a group of Bangladeshi apostates living in the UK explaining the reasons why they have abandoned Islam:

“One who claims to be a messenger of God is expected to live a saintly life. He must not be given to lust, he must not be a sexual pervert, and he must not be a rapist, a highway robber, a war criminal, a mass murderer or an assassin. One who claims to be a messenger of God must have a superior character. He must stand above the vices of the people of his time. Yet Muhammad’s life is that of a gangster godfather. He raided merchant caravans, looted innocent people, massacred entire male populations and enslaved the women and children. He raped the women captured in war after killing their husbands and told his followers that it is okay to have sex with their captives (Qur’an 33:50). He assassinated those who criticized him and executed them when he came to power and became de facto despot of Arabia. Muhammad was bereft of human compassion. He was an obsessed man with his dreams of grandiosity and could not forgive those who stood in his way…

    The statement continues,

Muhammad was a narcissist, like Hitler, Saddam or Stalin. He was astute and knew how to manipulate people, but his emotional intelligence was less evolved than that of a 6-year-old child. He simply could not feel the pain of others. He brutally massacred thousands of innocent people and pillaged their wealth. His ambitions were big and as a narcissist he honestly believed he is entitled to do as he pleased and commit all sorts of crimes and his evil deeds are justified.”

I’ve found some interesting articles online which state that as many as 77% of new converts to Islam reject Islam within five years of their conversions.

Islam is not growing as rapidly as its apologists would have us believe.

Weekly attendance at mosques in the United States is also much, much lower than weekly church or synagogue attendance is for Jews or Christians.

“A Miami fedeal [sic] judge sentenced a Cuban–born sympathizer of the terror group ISIS to 10 years in prison Monday. . . . Miguel Morán Díaz, 45, pleaded guilty May 27 to charges of possessing firearms despite being a convicted felon. Morán was previously sentenced to 46 months in the federal penitentiary in 2005 in a cocaine case.”

According to a Spanish-language news article, Miguel Morán Díaz, who identified himself as Azizi al Hariri, converted to Islam while he was incarcerated in a federal prison for a cocaine case in 2005. Additionally, during the prosecution of Diaz, evidence was presented that revealed his maintenance of a Facebook page — since removed — that posted numerous ISIS-related articles and a picture of himself holding a gun.

Most interestingly, despite Diaz’ stated desire to kill people in a stadium, using bullets engraved with the name “ISIS” on the casings, and his stated desire to be a “Lone Wolf,” in support of ISIS, no terror charges were contained in the complaint.

See germane articles at following links:

    http://cafefuerte.com/miami/24124-cubano-simpatizante-de-isis-conmociona-a-miami-otro-siembra-el-terror-en-hialeah/
    http://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/miami-dade/downtown-miami/article19880697.html

Upon his completion of a ten-year sentence, Diaz will be deported to Cuba. That should prove to be an interesting dilemma, as Islam represents approximately 0.1% of the Cuban population, the majority of which are converts. As Cuba prohibits the construction of mosques and the absence of Spanish translations of the Qur’an and other major Islamic texts, Diaz may well lose his enthusiasm for Islam. In Cuba, there is no such thing as Friday public prayers for anyone but non-Cuban Muslims, i.e., diplomats and tourists, and this occurs only at one place — Casa de los Árabes (“The Arab House”) in old Havana. Cuban Muslims are denied entrance.

It seems that every few days now there are stories, reported even in the sheep-like mass media, about converts to Islam trying to commit acts of murder and mayhem.

One might get the impression there is some connection between Islam and violence.

When a person becomes enamored of Christianity, he might at the worst turn into an annoying Bible banger or try to save everyone. When a young Jew becomes religiously observant, he might at the worst get preachy and try to make mom and dad change their dishes and stop driving on Shabbat.

I’ve never heard of stories of people turning to Christ and wanting to blow up buildings full of people, or mow perfect strangers down with automatic weapons. (I know, I know, there were the crusades, Mr. President.)

Gee. One might start thinking there is a connection between Islam and intolerance and violence.
