UPDATE: “Most likely” paintball guns. You may recall a few years back that there was a group of jihadis in Virginia, including Randall Royer of Hamas-linked CAIR, who were training for jihad by playing paintball games. Of course, not everyone who plays paintball is going on a jihad, but one may hope that law enforcement officials are at least alert and aware of the previous incident.

They could be M16s. They could be “paintball guns or airsoft rifles.” The purpose of the latter could conceivably be to “strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah” (8:60). In any case, these days, with jihad attacks coming so frequently and the Islamic State always trying to bring more death and destruction to the U.S., these incidents cannot be ignored.
“Cops hunt for minivan transporting possible M16 rifles,” New York Post, July 17, 2015 (thanks to Pamela Geller):
Police are looking for five people armed with what appear to be assault rifles after they were spotted by a retired NYPD cop in Staten Island on Friday morning, sources said.
The retired tipster snapped photos of four young men and a woman wearing a hijab head scarf in the Midland Beach parking lot, near the boardwalk, transferring what look like M16s between two vehicles, according to sources.
The cars — a silver minivan and dark-colored Scion — have New Jersey plates, and bridge authorities have been notified to be on the lookout.
An internal memo was also sent out to NYPD officers….
“They are worried about the woman in the head scarf. She’s carrying what appears to be an AK-47 assault rifle,” said a law enforcement source. “NYPD is actively searching for these subjects and both vehicles.”
Extra cops were stationed at the Staten Island Mall, the Staten Island ferry and military bases in the borough, cops said.
The “weapons” could be either paintball guns or airsoft rifles, and police are checking local paintball facilities, sources added.
