Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Pushing the “Islamophobia” Myth on National Public Radio

Jul 27, 2015 7:20 am By Danushka Goska

On Thursday, May 7, 2015, at 7:30 p.m., WNYC, New York’s NPR affiliate, hosted “Islamophobia: A Conversation.” WNYC talk-show host Brian Lehrer moderated. The discussion took place at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, described on its webpage as “the home for adventurous artists, audiences, and ideas.” Both BAM and WNYC are taxpayer funded. The discussion has been broadcast several times – at least twice the weekend of July 25 – and it is available on the WNYC webpage.

WNYC, on its webpage, lists the panelists for “Islamophobia: A Discussion” as follows:

Wajahat Ali—co-host of “The Stream” on Al Jazeera America; author of Fear Inc.: Roots of the Islamophobia Network in America;

Douglas Murray—associate editor of The Spectator magazine; author most recently of Islamophilia;

Faisal Saeed Al Mutar—Iraqi-born writer and human rights activist;

Asra Nomani—author of Standing Alone: An American Woman’s Struggle for the Soul of Islam;

Linda Sarsour—Brooklyn-born executive director of the Arab American Association of New York and

Bassem Youssef—host of “Al-Bernameg,” the first televised political satire show in the Middle East. Youssef is also a Harvard fellow.

WNYC’s “Islamophobia: A Conversation” typifies many features of liberal discourse on Islam. These features include:

  • Selective inclusion of speakers in order to arrive at a pre-determined conclusion. Islam-critical scholars are excluded. Trained apologists for the Judeo-Christian tradition and Western Civilization are excluded. Muslims who express an orthodox Islamic worldview are excluded.
  • Selection of Islamophobia, that is hatred and victimization of Muslims, as the topic of note. Jihad, terrorism, and gender apartheid are not worthy of focus.
  • Exploitation of America’s psychic vulnerabilities, specifically guilt about white supremacy, to coerce adherence to a pro-Islam worldview, and to silence any analysis of Islam.
  • Conflation of Muslims and Islam with African Americans and the African American experience, thus rendering any critique of Islam an expression of white supremacy.
  • An insistence on cultural relativism in which Islam is just like every other world religion, with a focus on insisting that Islam is just like Christianity.
  • Depiction of America as a deadly hellhole for Muslims. At the same time, insisting on American Dream tropes. Assuming that all people on earth somehow automatically deserve entry into this idyllic American Promised Land, and that any expectation that Muslims renounce jihad or express fealty to their adopted homeland is a gross human rights violation.
  • A disregard for, even a demonization of, objective facts.
  • Misrepresentation and demonization of any critique of Islam.
  • Trivialization and mockery: a Yoda imitation, a comparison of the stars of Duck Dynasty to ISIS or saying, “My mother can’t be a terrorist; she’s too busy cooking biryani.”
  • Blame the victim. Americans cause terrorism by saying mean things about Islam.

WNYC created a theatrical façade of inclusivity of speakers and worldviews. Panelists, WNYC’s webpage promises, come “from across the political, religious, and cultural spectrum” and they “address massive issues;” “the conversation covered broad terrain.”

It is significant who was not part of the discussion. The most prominent and productive scholarly critic of Islam in the world today is almost certainly Robert Spencer. Spencer was not present. David Wood, another prominent, active, local, and productive critic of Islam, was not present.

British author Douglas Murray was present, and that’s a good thing. It’s not the best thing, though. Douglas Murray is not a full-time Islam critic; Spencer and Wood are. Further, Murray is an atheist, and an atheist without theological training. Islam, from its founding, has positioned itself as the opponent of Judaism and Christianity in a triumphalist, zero sum game. Indeed, Muslims on the panel at the WNYC event repeatedly invoked Christianity in order to score points for Islam. Osama bin Laden declared that all Muslims everywhere are justified in killing any and all “Jews and Crusaders.”

Robert Spencer and David Wood don’t just know Islam; they don’t just know the Koran and hadith. They know the Bible, Old Testament and New. They know church history. They know that what most conventionally educated people believe to be true about the Crusades, the Inquisition, and the witch craze – historical episodes frequently cited by Islam’s apologists – has been demonstrated to be false by recent scholarship.

It is notable that not a single person on the panel was an American of non-Muslim descent. It is notable that five of the six panelists were Muslims or former Muslims. Even as one panelist after another accused non-Muslim Americans of being imperialist oppressors, racists and indeed terrorists, WNYC did not allow one non-Muslim American to speak.

Other notable missing persons: there was no one like the pro-Sharia Muslim cleric Anjem Choudary, though Choudary is a media fixture. Choudary’s Koranic worldview probably has more followers than the announced beliefs – moderate Islam, secularism, or reformed Islam – of all the other panelists combined. Choudary doesn’t pay lip service to co-existence. In his beard and Islamic dress, Choudary is not the poster child for moderate Islam that photogenic, beardless and fashionably groomed Wajahat Ali is. Choudary says that Muslims are superior and that eventually they will exercise that superiority over all mankind, as prescribed in Bukhari hadith 4:196. In fact no one on the panel represented this worldview, though it is obviously an influential one among Muslims.

Another significant feature of the discussion: the decision, made before the discussion took place as to what it would address. WNYC titled its program “Islamophobia” and “Fear of a Muslim Planet.” Bill Maher famously denounced the very word “Islamophobia” as one “created by fascists, and used by cowards, to manipulate morons.” WNYC chose as focus of its discussion on Islam a purported irrational hatred of Muslims that allegedly grips Americans. In the city where almost three thousand Americans were murdered on September 11, 2001, the city’s premier, taxpayer-funded radio station understands “fairness” to involve smearing all Americans as bigots and not allowing one single American of non-Muslim descent onto a panel to challenge that smear.

The broadcast’s alternate title is “Fear of a Muslim Planet.” This title alludes to “Fear of a Black Planet,” a 1990 Public Enemy hip hop album meant to protest white supremacy. White Americans are oppressive haters, WNYC’s title announced. Muslims are innocent victims. Muslims are just like African Americans. “Fear of a Black Planet” includes the song “911 is a Joke.”

“No one here wants terrorism, and no one here wants bigotry. Let’s have a dialogue about how we can fight the one without enabling the other,” host Brian Lehrer announced at the beginning of the discussion. Any thinking person immediately detects the culturally relativistic false equivalency. Terrorism is destroying the lives of millions of people. Ten million people currently live under the control of ISIS, for just one example. Terrorism is a much more serious matter than alleged “Islamophobia,” yet Lehrer equates the two.

There were many similar false equivalencies. Bassem Youssef brought up the Westboro Baptist Church. The Westboro Baptist Church has not millions, but rather dozens of members. As painful as it is, a sign reading “God hates fags” cannot be compared to a terrorist bombing. Youssef spoke at length about the 2009 assassination of a late-term abortion provider Dr. George Tiller. This murder can’t be compared to 1400 years of jihad – but it was, and that comparison went unchallenged. Youssef’s discourse on the murder of Dr. Tiller was the longest bit of uninterrupted verbiage in a NPR report on Islam in the US.

The WNYC broadcast opens with, and the homepage for the event closes with, a quote from panelist Wajahat Ali. “In America I’m asked, ‘Why does Islam hate the West?’ Abroad I’m asked, ‘Why does the West hate Islam?'” Again, two phenomena that are not equal – jihad and alleged Western Islamophobia – are rendered equivalent in the one quote WNYC chose to feature on its homepage.

Linda Sarsour was the night’s first speaker. She spoke loudly, rapidly and in a street-inflected enunciation that was so pronounced it could have been an affectation. In the tradition of fascist demagogues, Sarsour voiced flamboyant, bathetic grievances, claiming herself and her fellow Muslims to be victims of violent and dangerous, racist Americans. Sarsour claimed that Muslims are bullied in schools and must live with death threats from Americans who want to decapitate them. Sarsour insisted that “Islamophobia is an industry in this country. People making [sic] millions of bucks [sic] on dehumanizing and vilifying Muslims.” She followed grievances with belligerence, telling people what they could and could not say. “You’re free” she said, “to disagree with some tenets of Islam.” Well, thank you for that permission, Ms. Sarsour. Anti-Sharia legislation, though, is Islamophobic and must stop. American zoning boards that resist mosque construction are Islamophobic. They must grant permission for the construction of mosques. Sarsour claimed that the NYPD surveils Muslims for no other reason than racist animus. Douglas Murray called this a lie. Sarsour castigated Murray. Brian Lehrer backed her up, saying, “Let her speak!”

Sarsour repeatedly conflated Muslims with African Americans. Sarsour is attempting to appropriate the African American experience; she is a Muslim Rachel Dolezal. In 2012, Shaima Alawadi, an Iraqi woman, was murdered in California. CNN published Sarsour announcing that “My Hijab Is My Hoodie.” The article featured a photo of Trayvon Martin. The implication was that Sarsour risks being murdered by a racist American because she wears hijab, in the same way that Trayvon Martin was allegedly murdered by a racist American for wearing a hoodie. Alawadi’s murder was a staged hate crime; her Muslim husband had beaten her to death.

Currently on her Facebook page, Sarsour insists that her son Tamir is the equivalent of Ramarley Graham, an African American shot to death by a police officer. Sarsour had previously said that her son is just like Tamir Rice, another black boy shot by police. Also on her Facebook page, Sarsour calls Franklin Graham “vehement, racist, disgusting.” She writes “Existing as Black and/or Muslim in America is an act of courage.” And “When Black lives matter all lives will matter, including Muslim lives.” Sarsour repeatedly invokes Rosa Parks in her public statements, and Sarsour has been compared to Rosa Parks.

Sarsour was the most vehement in rejecting rational discussion. “I’m not interested up here to have ideological or theological discussion or pull out quotes from the Koran because every problem that we have could be found in other faiths.” (sic).

Aljazeera’s Wajahat Ali also spoke of Islamophobia as a profit center that is “bankrolled” by nefarious forces vilifying Muslims and Islam. Ali, like Sarsour, jumped on the “America is white supremacist” bandwagon. He self-identified as “brown skinned.” In fact, he is clearly of mostly Caucasian ancestry, as is Sarsour. Ali complained that he is not “popular” in America, that Americans insult him by forcing him to apologize for actions he’s never done, performed by people he’s never met. Ali mourned that those making money off Islamophobia want “you to fear me because I am a Muslim.” I am a “perpetual suspect.” Ali went right for America’s psychic jugular. Racism is in America’s very DNA. Islamophobia “Takes its DNA from hateful fear mongering that was used against Jews, Catholics and Japanese. Same DNA.” This isn’t about free speech, Ali insisted. It’s not about a cartoon. In his insistence that free speech and cartoons are immaterial, Ali joined Sarsour in rejecting discussion of objective realities. All that mattered, really, is that America is fundamentally racist.

Much could be said about the irony of Islamists smearing America as racist. The Arab slave trade of Africans and Europeans dwarfed the Atlantic slave trade in size and duration. The Arab slave trade was supported by the Koran and Mohammed’s exemplary precedent. The Arab slave trade exists today. The legacy of the Arab slave trade is virulent racism among Arabs and many Muslims – as many Muslims have publicly acknowledged.

In a similar ironic display of hypocrisy, Sarsour, Youssef, and Ali deployed a self-contradictory but no less crafty stratagem. They spoke at length about what a devious, imperialist, destructive, racist, and indeed deadly place America is for Muslims. To state the obvious, Sarsour, Youssef, and Ali, who could easily return to their relatives in Palestine, Egypt, and Pakistan, choose to live in the United States. If America were the hellhole they describe, they would not be here. At the same time that they pound the shame-racist-America drum, Sarsour and Ali also insist on an ideal America that Muslims deserve uninhibited and unquestioned access to. I am Catholic. No Catholic has ever enjoyed unquestioned access to the American Dream. We had to prove our worth, and that we posed no threat. We did just that. John F. Kennedy’s September 12, 1960 speech to Protestant ministers was just one proof that American Catholics have offered up to gain full access to the American Dream.

Bassem Youssef, an Egyptian television host and Harvard fellow, misrepresented the Islam critical point of view, and, specifically, Douglas Murray’s point of view, as “All Muslims are out there to either subjugate you or convert you” and Muslims are “out there to get you basically” and “Islam is an infection” and “Why don’t we go to the next level and put them all in concentration camps. Throw us in the gas chambers. It’s much easier this way. No Muslims. No Islamophobia. Let’s get it over with.” “This is hate speech. It should be shut down,” Youssef said of any criticism of Islam. Youssef equated critics of Islam with imams who call for death to Jews and Christians. Of Douglas Murray, Youssef said, “He’s doing the same. He’s doing the same. But on bigger platforms, and he’s affecting a larger number of people.” The moderator made no attempt to address Youssef’s false, inflammatory remarks. The audience applauded enthusiastically. Following Youssef’s comments in the program as it exists now at the WNYC webpage, and as it was broadcast in July, there was no response, including from Douglas Murray, who had been misrepresented to the point of slander. Youssef’s unhinged, masochistic fantasies went unchallenged.

Youssef adopted a mock, singsong voice and trilled, “Yeah, there are violent texts in Islam.” Any discussion of the Koran’s many jihad verses, Mohammed’s career as a warrior, or the history of a thousand years of unbroken Islamic expansion through violent and genocidal jihad was reduced to a joke. Youssef blamed America. “Billions of dollars” funded the spread of jihad. Youssef insisted that the Westboro Baptist Church and the KKK are completely equivalent with jihad. If someone gave the Westboro Baptist Church billions of dollars, they, too, would create terrorist groups on every continent that would last for a thousand years. “This is a game that has been used by Christianity and Judaism!” “Buddhists are killing!” Youssef’s angry and grammatically incorrect sputterings were met with enthusiastic applause.

Wajahat Ali was allowed expansive, uninterrupted time to insist that “right-wing white men from the South” are the number one domestic terrorist threat to Americans, and that they should be surveilled and profiled. Ali also argued that Westerners bring terrorism on themselves by criticizing Islam.

In contrast to the generous time allowed Ali and Youssef, Lehrer interrupted Douglas Murray when Murray was making his summary statement, the kind of statement that is conventionally not interrupted by a moderator. “You are by your own words anti-Islam,” Lehrer intoned, using the kind of formulation one would associate with the judge in a Stalinist show trial. Lehrer did not interrupt any other panelist’s summary statement for ideological reasons. He interrupted Wajahat Ali for reasons of time, but allowed him to continue to speak.

Lehrer also interrupted panelist Faisal Saeed Al Mutar. Al Mutar was born in Iraq; he is now an atheist living in the US. He spoke relatively little. He attempted to adduce facts that would demonstrate that Youssef and Ali were incorrect to mock and trivialize the real threat of Islamic terrorism. Al Mutar listed Muslim countries that prescribe capital punishment for atheism; he pointed out that the worst countries to live in for women are Muslim countries. Lehrer interrupted Al Mutar’s recitation of facts. “Is the path to peace to discredit the religion?”

Asra Nomani was born in India and currently teaches at Georgetown. She is the author of Standing Alone in Mecca: An American Woman’s Struggle for the Soul of Islam. She said that the first person to RSVP for WNYC’s event was a man who had sent her a death threat. Her voice was lovely and quiet; her speech measured and respectful. She spoke for reform in Islam. The Muslim men on the panel interrupted and made fun of her.

Douglas Murray repeatedly attempted to make an important point. Suppression of the unique challenges Islam presents is not good for Muslims. Most Muslims are decent people who should not face prejudice. The best route to a happy life for Muslims is for Muslims to say, “Yes, we have a problem, and yes, we are open to dealing with it.” Three of the guests on WNYC’s panel not only failed miserably at that task; they engaged in obfuscation, evasion and denial. Of the practicing Muslims on stage, Asra Nomani alone demonstrated the openness to discussion and solutions that will lead to a better tomorrow for everyone, Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

A classic quiz, to be set circulating on social media everywhere. And, printed out onto actual paper, with little boxes drawn in for ticking Y or N, and another box at the bottom for totting up the score, a nice ice-breaker/ discussion starter for dinner parties.

    >>The whole religion would need to be reformed
    >>to have all the hatred removed.

It has already been done. It is called the Enlightenment Koran, and all the violence and hatred has been removed, in a slightly humorous fashion. Instead of burning infidels in hell, it invites the infidels to have a nice cup of tea. It sounds like a British edition.

?? Maher: “IslamoPHOBIC Is A Word Created By Fascists, And Used By Cowards, To Manipulate Morons”

Excerpt page 74 (- 79) Atlas Shrugs Isamophobia

“For the enemies of freedom, telling the truth about the Islamization of America in all its various guises is stigmatized as “Islamophobia”

The very word “Islamophobia” is a fictional construct, as journalist Claire Berlinski explains,

The neologism “Islamophobia” did not simply emerge ex nihilo. It was invented, deliberately, by a Muslim Brotherhood front organization, the International Institute for Islamic Thought, which is based in Northern Virginia….Abdur-Rahman Muhammad, a former member of the IIIT who has renounced the group in disgust, was an eyewithness to the creation of the word. “This loathsome term,” he writes, “is nothing more than a thought-terminating cliche conceived in the bowles of Muslim think tanks for the purpose of beating down critics.” [97] https://ricochet.com/archives/moderate-muslim-watch-how-the-term-islamophobia-got-shoved-down-your-throat/

The Term “Islamophobia was DESIGNED specifically for the Western mindset of liberal white guilt, stealing the “civil rights” narrative from black Americans and mining the “oppression” of Native Americans—even throwing in the specter of the Japanese internment camps during World War II. These are the clubs Islamic supermacists in the West used to BEAT DOWN their opponents. Islamophobia is the KNEE-JERK SMEAR thrown at anyone WHO DARES TO SPEAK OUT or push back against the encroaching SHARIA (Q5.48 ‘.. DIVINE law’), the appeasement of Islamic SUPREMACISTS demands on the secular marketplace, and the RESTRICTION OF free speech.

IN REALITY, “Islamophobia” is nothing more than a term that Islamic supremacists use to enforce what they can Islamic blasphemy laws in the West: in Islamic law, to DEFAME or INSULT (wife_beater 4:34) Muhammad or Islam is BLASPHEMEY (Q9.12, 9.61-66, 5.72-73), an in many Muslim countries it’s punishable by death (4:88-9 ‘slay them wherever ye find them’).

Bassem Youssef—host of “Al-Bernameg,” the first televised political satire show in the Middle East. Youssef is also a Harvard fellow.

Ugh, I know some of those names. Douglas Murray was the equivalent of a lamb sent to a lair of hyenas. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not doubting his skill and knowledge, but that was a clearly biased panel, and there’s only so much one person can do, especially with a biased “moderator” thrown in.

Exploitation of America’s psychic vulnerabilities, specifically guilt about white supremacy, to coerce adherence to a pro-Islam worldview, and to silence any analysis of Islam.

Conflation of Muslims and Islam with African Americans and the African American experience, thus rendering any critique of Islam an expression of white supremacy.

As I mentioned several times, the threat of a charge of “racism”, regardless of its veracity, is usually enough to silence people who are not racists, who know racism is a bad thing and therefore don’t want to be labeled as such.

It is significant who was not part of the discussion. The most prominent and productive scholarly critic of Islam in the world today is almost certainly Robert Spencer. Spencer was not present. David Wood, another prominent, active, local, and productive critic of Islam, was not present.

In fact no one on the panel represented this worldview, though it is obviously an influential one among Muslims.

    Indeed.

Sarsour insisted that “Islamophobia is an industry in this country. People making [sic] millions of bucks [sic] on dehumanizing and vilifying Muslims.” She followed grievances with belligerence, telling people what they could and could not say. “You’re free” she said, “to disagree with some tenets of Islam.”

She leaves out that by doing so one forfeits their live – heretics and apostates don’t live long under sharia law. But here’s the thing: if, according to Sarsour (which, being the arabic word for “cockroach” is an apt name), people can disagree with some tenets of islam and still call themselves muslims why then are we supposed to believe that islamic terrorists are not muslims because islam doesn’t allow the killing of innocents (let’s overlook the fact that the islamic definition of innocent is not the same as ours)? Maybe the terrorists just disagree with that particular tenet but, other than that, are as much of a muslim as Sarsour is.

Sarsour repeatedly conflated Muslims with African Americans. Sarsour is attempting to appropriate the African American experience; she is a Muslim Rachel Dolezal.

A muslima trying to appropriate someone else’s things? *Gasp*

    I’m shocked! SHOCKED, I SAY!!!

The implication was that Sarsour risks being murdered by a racist American because she wears hijab

The day that happens I’ll do a minute of silence. Sure, I’ll dance and fist-pump through it, but in a silent, respectful manner.

Currently on her Facebook page, Sarsour insists that her son Tamir is the equivalent of Ramarley Graham, an African American shot to death by a police officer. Sarsour had previously said that her son is just like Tamir Rice, another black boy shot by police.

I’m going to go on a limb here and risk saying that her son wasn’t shot dead by the police and is, in fact, alive and well (although, if he has a modicum of common sense and the capability to feel shame, he probably wishes otherwise)

Sarsour repeatedly invokes Rosa Parks in her public statements, and Sarsour has been compared to Rosa Parks.

By whom and in which context? For example, if I were to say to her “Sarsour, Rosa Parks you are not” then I’m comparing her to Rosa Parks.

Sarsour was the most vehement in rejecting rational discussion.

Ah, just Sarsour being Sarsour then.

Aljazeera’s Wajahat Ali also spoke of Islamophobia as a profit center that is “bankrolled” by nefarious forces vilifying Muslims and Islam.

I’ve heard they also steal shoes from muslims’s homes to screw with their minds. That’s akin to raining on an ocean to make it watery and wet, IMO.

All that mattered, really, is that America is fundamentally racist.

Yes, non-white people will never amount to much in the US. Just look at Barack Obama, Condoleezza Rice, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Muhammad Ali, Wilt Chamberlain, Reggie Jackson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Tiger Woods, Maya Angelou, Ralph Ellison, Richard Wright, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, the aforementioned Rosa Parks, Halle Berry, Bill “Let me hold that drink for you, Madam” Cosby, Sammy Davis Jr., Morgan Freeman, James Earl Jones, Spike “Get them crackers out of my ‘hood” Lee, Eddie Murphy, Sidney Poitier, Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Oprah “I made my fortune out of middle-class white woman” Winfrey, or Colin Powell.

Now, I’m going to go on a limb and say that in a society that’s fundamentally racist, those people wouldn’t have made it as big as they did because racists would never allow for it.

Bassem Youssef, an Egyptian television host and Harvard fellow, misrepresented the Islam critical point of view, and, specifically, Douglas Murray’s point of view, as “All Muslims are out there to either subjugate you or convert you” and Muslims are “out there to get you basically”

Sadly, we see that false dichotomy in people claiming themselves to be on the CJ movement, leading themselves by the nose and playing right into the hands of rabble-rousers such as Bassem Youssef.

That’s pretty much the MO of people who know what they say is unadulterated BS: they try to preemptively pass legitimate criticism as being something that should be laughed at.

Wajahat Ali was allowed expansive, uninterrupted time to insist that “right-wing white men from the South” are the number one domestic terrorist threat to Americans, and that they should be surveilled and profiled.

How are they going to profile them on the basis of their “whiteness”? Didn’t they learn anything from Rachel Dolezal? All they have to do is douse themselves in auto-tan and wear ridiculous wigs – presto, instant African-American!

Ali also argued that Westerners bring terrorism on themselves by criticizing Islam.

Let’s see if I get it: the #1 terrorist threat in the US are right-wing white men (acting out of right-wingery and whiteness, I guess) but, if muslims do commit terrorists attacks then those right-wing white men brought it on themselves by criticizing islam. Is that it?

Her voice was lovely and quiet; her speech measured and respectful. She spoke for reform in Islam. The Muslim men on the panel interrupted and made fun of her.

    Classy stuff…

If Linda Sarsour weren’t actively playing the role of useful idiot, she’d have that lipstick smacked off by her master, and find herself in the proper sphere for muslim women: genitals mutilated, routinely raped, and walking around in a trash bag. She is only allowed to have one opinion, and can’t stand the fact that it’s a gigantic lie that is exposed by her co-cultists more than any non-muslim.

The ‘Islamophobia’ slander is merely the fear that Muslims have of critical thought. They are terrified that critical thought may destroy the foundations of Islamic faith, because Islam is based on hearsay and repetition, rather than on verifiable facts.
Islam cannot survive detailed inquiry, critical analysis or close scrutiny. Islamic faith depends on unquestioning, blind acquiescence to the basic documents of Islam. Islam cannot be rigorously tested, so it must be protected by a wall of silence and death threats against the critics. Muslims know this and are touchy about admitting that Islam is flimsy house of cards.
Faith in Islam’s teachings falls apart and collapses as soon as the historicity and amoral character of Mohammed are examined. Mohammed’s character is the greatest liability in Islam. The legendary and unhistorical nature of Islam’s early biographies of Mohammed are not supported by outside sources, making the biography of Mohammed a matter of pure speculation, if not total subjectivity.
The ‘Islamophobia’ slur is an ad hominem condemnation demeaning all critics of Islam as being mentally ill, but this is obviously not true, since rational inquiry about Islam is highly intellectual. Thus criticism of Islam is proof of one’s sanity.
Muslims want to live in liberal, Western societies, while having Islam exempted from the scrutiny of critical inquiry…which is the sort of mental process that makes those societies vibrant and desirable to live in. By removing critical thought, Muslims will make those societies as stagnant and backward as all Muslim countries, thereby defeating their reason for moving to the West.
Islam as an intellectual system is unable to compete in the marketplace of ideas, since it cannot be examined rigorously without exposing it as a house of cards. Islam is anti-intellectual and Muslims know this to be true, but sadly, they are too afraid to object to this aggressive irrationalism.
In Western societies, all religions are routinely put under the microscope. Muslims should get used to it, accept it or move back to their backward, corrupt dictatorships where censorship of everything makes them as backward, stagnant and impoverished and dangerous and lacking in opportunity.

Mortimer’s analysis is spot on. This is a whole, complete argument in itself. Good summary.
A couple more key points of evidence could be added, like the lack of historical sources for Uthman’s compilation of the Uthman Koran Edition, plus death for apostasy, the identification of Islam with Sharia and jihad and slavery, ridiculous revisionism of Abrahamic religion ( Jesus was not crucified ), and the crucial self-contradictions in the Koran. E.G.

Three Quran Verses Every Christian Should Know
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5Nu6EabQD8

So, the Koran says to go with the New Testament. And the New Testament disagrees with the BIZARRE Koranic re-interpretation of Jesus’ life. The difference is that there is a Christian cultural tradition, to which Mohammed had NO connection. So we should tend to accept the overall New Testament narrative and REJECT the Koranic narrative, which is nonsensical and completely unsupported.

Back to Mortimer’s main point. He is right, Islam is anti-philosophy and opposed to critical thinking.

Mohammed was himself anti-scientific. He’s the classical religious nut case who denies the laws of nature and says “God does this” and “God does that”. I’ve seen the quotes.

It is clear that philosophy and critical reasoning are key to all efforts for cultural counter-jihad.
I use those. It is important to teach and emphasize those, starting with tagging the logical fallacies in debate and providing proper citations of evidence.

The above video works as philosophy and reasoning. Break the Islamist narrative. Use critical philosophy and evidence-based reasoning.
I dug into the background materials. All the evidence points to Islam being irrational, anti-social, fascist and the primary threat to civilization. But I’m not just offering a personal opinion when I say such unkind things.
I always bring in analysis by Dr. Bill Warner and Andrew Bostom. So, nobody can defeat my anti-Islamic arguments in the public arenas.

Thanks Mortimer for your contribution here. I expect to use of your phrasing elsewhere. Good writing.

The following is my response to my friend, Dr. Danusha Goska’s article in “Jihad Watch,”
“Pushing the “Islamophobia” Myth on National Public Radio,” July 27, 2015.
    http://www.jihadwatch.org/2015/07/pushing-the-islamophobia-myth-on-national-public-radio

All panels that I have seen on Islamophobia share a similar fiction: an attempt to perpetuate the victim status of Muslims by labeling anyone who dare criticize Islam as an “Islamophobic”. (Linda Sarsour does so here). Sadly, this status serves to protect the radicals in their midst. Islam has a problem. To deny this causes more problems. Continued obfuscation denies the Western world the benefit of learning that all Muslims are not Jihadists, and obscures which ones are good and which ones are bad, what the distinctions are.

The panelists are, with the possible exception of Asra Nomani, typical in the prevailing PC notion that we are Islamophobic if we mention Islam in the same breath as terrorists. The press and most panels on Islam obfuscate Islam, obfuscate distinctions between them, and therefore add to the problem –

Who are these assassins? Are they Islamic? Those who speak the truth on these matters, and are not aligned with the current U.S. presidential administration opaqueness, have given terrorists the name: “Islamists.” But, the religion is Islam. Though a religion might have sectors, sects, individuals, cults, who misbehave, or through history perpetrate atrocities (Salem Witch hunts, the Inquisition) not all Muslims are bad, any more than all Christians are bad.

A Christian analogy to the Islamic problem, might be viewed through the lens of history as follows: The early Catholic Church struggled through history with Popes giving indulgences for money, and more recently the horror of pedophilia cases. How accurate would it be to pronounce, “These are not Christians, these are not Catholics.” The Church instead explains the history, and denounces these crimes, but never once said the perpetrators were not Catholic or Christian. All religions have flaws, as the congregation/participants, the clergy, Mullahs, Rabbis and so forth, are all human.

    Here are the facts:
The majority of the millions that are a part of Islam – most Muslims – are peaceful and devout. But, to omit Islam from religions that can use reason to enlighten is to ignore its own tenants of Ijtihad or, “diligence” that encourages “independent reasoning” to determine the right path and interpretations of the Quran. To deny this is to capitulate to pressures from that religion that resists any criticism as Islamophobia. Those who refuse to utter “Islamic Jihadists,” or “Islamist terrorists” are either ignorant of the facts, intentionally misleading, in fear, or using self-defeating appeasement strategies that encourage the “victim” label. Some are so politically correct as to avoid global reality.

A global and regional Jihad is being carried out by terrorists. It is important to know that those terrorists are from a radical ideological interpretation of the Islamic religion. These Wahhabi/Salafist and Deobandis include al Qaeda and splinter groups, like Daesh/ISIS/ISIL in Iraq and Syria, Boko Haram in Africa, Hamas and Hezbollah in the Levant, Taliban [TTP, Haqqani Network, ASWJ/SSP] in Pakistan, and lone wolf want-a-be’s in the Western world). What do they have in common?

They are all radical Sunnis from the Wahhabi cult or Deobandi cults of Islam. Many of the suicide bombers are products of the Madrassas (religious schools) funded by Saudi Arabia. Those that have been inspired to kill other Muslims (al-Qaeda, ISIS) were freed to do so by the radical Islamic theorist, Egyptian Sayyid Qutb (d.1966), who gave justification for killing innocents (though prohibited in the Quran). The Jihadists are purists from Saudi Arabian origins of Wahhabism- Religion: Islam. (read, The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11, 2006, Lawrence Wright). Muslims with this Takfiri ideology seek out and destroy sacred religious shrines, and have gruesome history of beheadings of both Sunni and Shia Muslims, Muslim tribal elders that opposed them in Pakistani Northern territories, Balochs, as well as, Ahmadis, Sufis, Hindus, and Christians- innocent men, women and children.

There is no question that all Muslim terrorists are from the Islamic religion. They merely have a different interpretation of that religion. If one wants to then research with due diligence the specifics in order to distinguish the evil from the devout, that makes the most sense, but the mainstream press and U.S. administrations fail to do this.

Devoid of PC notions, we discover that we are not Islamophobic to understand that it is not all Muslims who are terrorists. Who are they? The Takfiri [Sunni Muslims who accuse another Muslim of apostasy] who are products originating from Salafist/radical Wahhabis. The eighteenth-century preacher and scholar, Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab (1703–1792). Many in the South Asia region are Deobandis from the revivalist movement within Hanafi Islam. These murderers would also like the public to be misled by the narrative of “sectarianism.” That is, all killings the radical Deobandis perpetrate on Shia or Hazera’s can then be more readily dismissed as long term historical disagreements. Even the “Human Rights Watch” continues to use the “sectarian” label to what amounts to a genocidal intent of these Takfiri Deobandis in Pakistan who pull out innocent Shias from FATA out of buses and shout with glee as saw off their live and suffering victims’ heads; and in Peshawar murder school children (TTP); we have recently seen the line-up of beheadings in Iraq by Daesh (ISIS/ISIL).

All Islam and all Muslims are not terrorists. However, all the global terrorists have several things in common: all are radical Muslims of the Islamic faith that desire a Caliphate; most originate, to be fair, from a tribal cult. But the cult is still within Islam: The cult is Wahhabism; and some are Deobandis, each sharing the same radical ideology.

These Islamists include home-grown Muslim radicals, Jihadists from the Levant, the Maghreb, terrorists from South Asia, Burma, Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula/ Middle East; all jihadists infiltrating the American Mosques are also radical Muslims of the Islamic faith.

It does not benefit Muslims the world over to avoid this reality. All are from one religion that has a problem: Islam. To continue to deny this affords Muslims only a shared and fragile mythology.
Those not of these cults, are by and large peaceful Muslims. The majority of Islam has remained silent on these matters. That in itself is a problem. The perception of Westerners who listen for criticism from the leaders in Muslim countries, and hear no consensus of condemnation, are left with understandable doubt about Islamic intentions. An exception is the recent condemnation in terms the US president avoids, was the president of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi when he said, “Islamic ideology is driving terrorists to kill,” in a speech to Muslim clerics. “Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi says, “Imams have duty to stop violence justified by sermons, writings.” Is President el-Sisi Islamophobic? Hardly.

There is something unique that an ex-Muslim can bring to the table that others cannot. In my opinion (but I don’t claim to be an expert), someone like Ali Sina due to his life experience is better qualified to speak on the distortions of the character that Islam imposes on its victims. He has also done immeasurable good helping to heal countless recovering Muslims from their brainwashing and supporting them with kindness.

Unfortunately “Ali Sina” is a pseudonym, the man behind it cannot appear in public because as an apostate, his life is even more in danger than Spencer’s.

Thank you for posting this. There are many well meaning Christians who are confused about Islam. I try to present the truth when I encounter them: Islam is not a peaceful religion nor is it Christian. Someone just emailed this to me recently:

In defining Muslim, the Sufi spiritual leader Ibn Arabi said:

A Muslim is a person who has dedicated his worship exclusively to God…Islam means making one’s religion and faith God’s alone.[26]

The Qur’an describes many prophets and messengers as well as their respective followers as Muslim: Adam, Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Moses and Jesus and his apostles are all considered to be Muslims in the Qur’an. The Qur’an states that these men were Muslims because they submitted to God, preached His message and upheld His values, which included praying, charity, fasting and pilgrimage. Thus, in Surah 3:52 of the Qur’an, Jesus’ disciples tell Jesus, “We believe in God; and you be our witness that we are Muslims (wa-shahad be anna muslimūn).” In Muslim belief, before the Qur’an, God had given the Torah to Moses, the Psalms to David and the Gospel to Jesus, who are all considered important Muslim prophets.
I also find it very interesting that they hold our Blessed Mother Mary in very high esteem due to her being the mother of Jesus. Please let us remember we are all children of God.

We have spent 15 years pretending things about Islam, a complex religion with competing interpretations. It is true that most Muslims live their lives peacefully. But a sizeable portion (around 15 per cent and more in most surveys) follow a far more radical version.
The remainder are sitting on a religion which is, in many of its current forms, a deeply unstable component. That has always been a problem for reformist Muslims. But the results of ongoing mass immigration to the West at the same time as a worldwide return to Islamic literalism means that this is now a problem for all of us.
To stand even a chance of dealing with it, we are going to have to wake up to it and acknowledge it for what it is.

That’s Douglas Murray. He’s the man!

No doubt this is a very valuable video. I will watch it later.
If I can nail this Linda Sarsour, and nail CAIR by leveraging this video, I will do so.
By posting a reply on several New York City online groups, and maybe some political online groups.

    What I’m reading here is
    (1) “Anti-Sharia legislation, though, is Islamophobic and must stop.”
This is according to Linda Sansour.

    (2) “Sarsour claimed that the NYPD surveils Muslims for no other reason than racist animus.”
IT IS NOT RACIST, Ms Sarsour. The NYPD would be RETARDED if it didn’t focus on Muslims.

Both of these are hanging offenses. Oh look, I get another huge opportunity to hawk Bostom’s book on Sharia in front of thousands. People are gonna get sick of me hawking Bostom. But I’m not just pushing stuff on people. I’m RESPONDING to statements made in public fora in New York City. So I get to respond in online NYC fora.
And, if possible, crush Ms. Sarsour and maybe CAIR. That would be a wonderful day.
All I have to do is smash them once and leverage that. Looks like this may be the smoking gun!

I haven’t actually fought or crushed CAIR yet. Been wanting to do that for a long time. It was fun and socially profitable to nail Islamic State defender Noam Chomsky.
Looks like this is my opportunity to go directly after CAIR.
Smashing the Islamist / Islamic State approach with evidence based reasoning is good and necessary.
I’ve already done that in front of some thousands.

Nailing CAIR and this apologist chick are equally important or even more important.
If Linda Sarsour is in fact one of these PUBLICLY fascist Sharia supporters, then I’m gonna crush her in the social media press. If she really is Sharia, then she’s a sociopath and a supremacist and a traitor. Because Sharia law is very clear and it is pure fascism. So she apparently supports fascism and the destruction of the Bill of Rights. Got it. Let’s see who wins here!

Doing this stuff is a great way to help save civilization. Which we must do.
Gods above I detest fascists and anti-human rights traitors to society, and pathologically dishonest sociopaths.
Any sane and decent person would, if they knew the real story. So we’ve got to break the bad guy narrative of these vicious Islamofascists and their public supporters.

    Thanks for this video link.
This is in my work list.

Anything with Wajahat Ali and Linda Sarsour has got to be bad.

Here is one of my favorite Sarsour Jihad Watch posts, where LS turns her vicious Muslim death ray on . . . a homeless man.
    http://www.jihadwatch.org/2014/09/islamic-supremacist-linda-sarsour-targets-mentally-ill-homeless-man-to-push-islamophobia-fears

Look out, Linda is tired, and today might be the day she lashes out in a sociopathic rage.

Wajahat is a real piece of work.

This fine essay by the most incisively astute Danushka Goska is replete with searingly apt, pinpointed focuses on the problem of the racialization of the problem of Islam by the dominant and mainstream PC MC worldview (yet more evidence, from a mountain range of same out there all around us, one could adduce indicating this most crucial feature that, I maintain, is the main reason for the mainstream West’s continuing myopia about the problem of Islam).

I also strongly recommend Danushka Goska’s essay, Ten Reasons Why I Am Not a Leftist — written in prose imbued with limpid common sense and humanity.

“You’re free to disagree with SOME tenants of Islam.”

Why, thank you. However, I think I’ll disagree with whatever I want including your false god, and religion of ‘peace’ BS.

It seems ever evident Ms Sarsour that you, your religion and followers, are straight from the bowels of satan. And had 1 single person even decided to crack open a koran for themselves they would have been reading the enemy’s playbook, including the lack of ROE against non-muslims.
