Time for Obama to explain to us again how the Islamic State is losing.
“Turkey Blast: Dozens of Students Killed in Suspected Isis Suicide Attack in Border Town Near Kobani [VIDEO],” by Johnlee Varghese, International Business Times, July 20, 2015 (thanks to Anne Crockett):
Dozens of volunteer students, who were planning to visit Kobani to help the residents with construction work, were targeted in a suspected Isis suicide attack in Turkey’s border town of Suruc on Monday.
The Turkish Interior ministry confirmed that at least 27 had died, while 100 were wounded in the blast. Turkey has called the explosion at the culture centre a terror attack….
According to Hurriyet Daily News, it is being suspected that Isis suicide bomber had carried out the attack.
There were reportedly 300 people, mainly young students from various colleges and universities, who were all members of the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF), at the time of explosion.
According to Turkish news source ANF, the blast occurred at the Amara Culture Centre in Suruc district of Urfa, where several members of the Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) had gathered in the morning for tea.
The team was later planning to cross into Syria to help the residents of Kobani, located 7 km from Suruc.
The culture center targeted in the bomb blast frequently hosts visiting journalists and volunteers assisting the refugees entering into Turkey from Syria….
The attack in Suruc was followed by a suicide blast near Kobani border, no casualities were reported.

ISIS targets students…so you would wonder what Islam has against modern education? They have created enemies. One wonders if this incident will bring Turkey into the fray now that their territory has been attacked.
It’s transparently obvious that Turkey is using ISIS to commit a genocide against Kurdistan and Kurds in general.
Even with fanatical ISIS at its border, Turkey pursues an Islamist agenda, not realizing that by doing so the whole country can fall into a gigantic war of religion with Iran. A return to secularism will save Turkish lives, but they are caught in Erdogan’s Islamist delusions and can’t see the cliff ahead.

“It’s transparently obvious that Turkey is using ISIS to commit a genocide against Kurdistan and Kurds in general.”
Very accurate observation. Turkey will undertake every underhanded and deceitful trick, including covertly arming and supporting Islamic State, to insure that there is NEVER an independent Kurdish State.
I believe that the Turks have murdered more Kurds over the years, than the Islamic State has ever done.

Not so sure who are the white hats here.
If the dead were die-hard communists
who carry water for anything islamic,
I see a sinislam comeuppance.
Mahendra Singh says
So at last Turkey also falls victim to ISIS. The
pseudo-democratic Erdogan who is Islamic to the core
and a secret ISIS admirer is getting it back. Bring back the
Ottoman rulers.

Let’s see how Erdogan will white wash this. m
Angemon says
I’m guessing he’ll blame the Jews and the Americans.
miriamrove says
ANG: I knew you were smart, but I didn’t know you were that smart!!!! Yes, Jews first and the American second. Of course Islam does not have anything to do with it!! M
Oliver says
Do you think that the Muslim piece of sh– will blame ALL JEWS, WORLDWIDE, or just Israel?
And, of course, the US.
Personally,, if those killed were Turkish Muslims, I really don’t see much of a loss.
Just less p[potential terrorists of whatever stripe.

Could be false flag operation and provides an excuse to crack down on dissent – that may eventually target turkish kurds in the region.

.
Someone always comes up with a stupid excuse. Sorry, Islam does not need an excuse to maim and murder – that is its sole philosophy, and it revels in it.

I partially take that back. see comment below

Umbra, why would you assume that ISIS is incapable of such barbarism and this hence must be a “false flag” attack? Also, Erdogan has been *supporting* ISIS—the idea that he would need a reason—a false reason, as you would have it—to target ISIS simply makes no sense.
shams78 says
This bombing targeted a leftist-socialist-communist youth group of Kurds and leftist Turks who were assisting the Kurdish YPG in Kobane.
The Kurdish YPG/PKK in Syria and Turkey is a leftist Communist Marxist group and they have been supported by leftist Turks such as members of the far left Marxist Leninist Communist Party of Turkey, which is banned by the Turkish government.
Right wing, racist, ultranationalist Turks have been attacking, assasinating, and mass murdering leftist Turks and Kurds for decades since the Cold War. They used to ban the use of the Kurdish language and claimed Kurds were “Mountain Turks”. A few decades ago they burned a building full of leftist Turks alive. These right wingers have been cheering on ISIS against the Kurdish YPG.
Some European Communist students have gone over to Syria and joined the Kurdish YPG Marxists to fight ISIS. The Turkish Communist Party helped smuggle them into Syria. One woman from Germany was killed in action against ISIS a few months ago.
While many right wing big mouths blabber on the internet and exercise their keyboard warrior muscle poses.

The ugly shams78 pretending that ISIS and civilized Anti-Jihadists are both “right wing” makes the term completely meaningless.
shams78 says
Both of you call your opponents names like “Communist” which is the favorite word of ISIS to describe the Syrian Kurds.
The difference is, the Kurds are actual Communists while the western liberals you fling the name at are not.

Time for the world to wake up and take action.

I did not realise that this was an attack on Kurdish Turks.
Yes, of course the Turkish government could organise an attack on the Kurds, as they have been doing this for years. And the new ability to blame this attack on ISIS is an extra bonus.
In addition, while the Turks like ISIS destabilising and weakening Syria, it has long been their goal to take over Mesopotamia. So this attack on Turkey gives the added prospect of Turkey strolling into an already destablised and weakened Turkey, to gain more territory – and all in the name of stopping the conflict and creating peace. A double bonus.

Just came back from visiting family and friends in Turkey as originally I am from there. Talking to Turkish elite is just like talking to liberals here. They say in summary: “It is all the fault of imperialist USA and Jews and Islam has nothing to do with it”. Same song and dance with no understanding of the truth. My conclusion: The world deserves Islam and we are getting it more and more everyday.
Linde Barrera says
To Sam- I hope you enjoyed your visit to your ancestral homeland! I have 2 different friends who visited Turkey and both said it had some great historical sites. However, and I mean no offense to you, I will not spend 1 penny visiting Turkey or any other country with a poor record for human rights dating from the past 45 – 50 years. Kind regards.

Turkey: Dozens killed in suspected Islamic State bombing in border town
……………………………..
Erdogan has, of course, *supported* ISIS. That they are now turning on Turkey should not surprise—after all, the same thing happens in places like Pakistan.
shams78 says
cretinimage, the bombing was targeted against a group of socialist communist leftist Kurds and leftist Turks, not against the majority nationalistic-racist or Islamist Turkish general population and authorities. They didn’t turn on Turkey. They didn’t target the AKP or MHP racists or Turkish government and military.
Your government and CIA have been supporting these racist, ultra nationalist right wing Turkish groups for decades to target leftists and Kurds in Turkey.
