Yet another Muslim in the U.S. succumbs to the lure of the caliphate — while the analysts who should be spending their time devising ways to counter that lure wave it away by pretending that the Islamic State has nothing to do with Islam.
“O.C. man admits to trying to join ISIS, faces 25 years in prison,” by Matt Hamilton, Los Angeles Times, August 10, 2015 (thanks to Darcy):
A 21-year-old man from Orange County pleaded guilty Monday to attempting to join the militant group Islamic State, also known as ISIS, authorities said.
Adam Dandach, also known as Fadi Fadi Dandach, will face up to 25 years in federal prison for trying to travel to Syria in order to join the designated terrorist organization, according to the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles.
Dandach, a resident of Orange, was arrested on July 2, 2014, at John Wayne Airport as he tried to board a plane to Istanbul.
The U.S. citizen told FBI agents that he planned to pledge his loyalty to ISIS and participate in weapons training under the aegis of ISIS fighters.
Following his arrest, Dandach pleaded not guilty and has remained in federal custody without bond.
Federal officials said he lied on his passport application so that he could get a new one to travel overseas and join the terrorist group.
Dandach claimed he had accidentally thrown away his original passport, according to the indictment. But prosecutors said he was trying to prevent his mother from thwarting his plans because she had possession of his original passport.
U.S. Atty. Eileen Decker said Dandach fell prey to “online recruiting efforts” by ISIS, which allowed federal investigators to track and intercept him….

Strange how Fadi Fadi connected Islam with terrorism, isn’t it?
Saleem Smith says
Islam connected with terrorism?
Of course not…
It would be considered “Islamophobic” to say such a thing! lol
Cause everyone knows that Islam is the perfect religion of peace that must not be criticized. A person cannot leave Islam or criticize it without putting their life in danger. Maybe Islam is so perfect or peaceful after all
We ex-Muslims living with Islam’s formal and informal death penalty for apostasy know that Islam is an evil fraud and that Muhammad the prophet of Islam was a depraved madman who probably never even existed.
Here is a recent statement from a group of Bangladeshi apostates living in the UK explaining the reasons why they have abandoned Islam:
“One who claims to be a messenger of God is expected to live a saintly life. He must not be given to lust, he must not be a sexual pervert, and he must not be a rapist, a highway robber, a war criminal, a mass murderer or an assassin. One who claims to be a messenger of God must have a superior character. He must stand above the vices of the people of his time. Yet Muhammad’s life is that of a gangster godfather. He raided merchant caravans, looted innocent people, massacred entire male populations and enslaved the women and children. He raped the women captured in war after killing their husbands and told his followers that it is okay to have sex with their captives (Qur’an 33:50). He assassinated those who criticized him and executed them when he came to power and became de facto despot of Arabia. Muhammad was bereft of human compassion. He was an obsessed man with his dreams of grandiosity and could not forgive those who stood in his way…
The statement continues,
Muhammad was a narcissist, like Hitler, Saddam or Stalin. He was astute and knew how to manipulate people, but his emotional intelligence was less evolved than that of a 6-year-old child. He simply could not feel the pain of others. He brutally massacred thousands of innocent people and pillaged their wealth. His ambitions were big and as a narcissist he honestly believed he is entitled to do as he pleased and commit all sorts of crimes and his evil deeds are justified.”
Saleem Smith says
Correction – Maybe Islam is not so perfect or peaceful after all.
Shane says
Great points! Muhammad either was severely mentally ill, or he was in contact with some dark entities, demons or Satan himself. No reasonable person can honestly say that Islam is a religion of peace.

Yeah, it’s sad that our government doesn’t seem to be trying to counter the appeal of ISIS and islamic terrorism. The good news it’s a crime to join up with those crazies.

” trying to prevent his mother from thwarting his plans because she had possession of his original passport.”
So, I ask; why did this –at the time–20 year old’s mommy have possession of his passport?
Well, O.K., I think we all know why.
So, did she ever inform appropriate authorities about the little bastard’s behavior and what she likely figured he was up to?
Peggy says
Of course not, then she wouldn’t be able to act all surprised.

I would give this guy about three weeks before he would have written home to his mama complaining about being homesick and not having his mama there to pick up after him or cook his breakfast with a side bowl of Coco Puffs cereal.
Joseph says
I think he prefers Fruit Loops.
Jay Boo says
You may be right but I was alluding to that other jihadi wannabe from the UK who was homesick and asked about Coco Puffs.
Anyway, all of these young tadpoles loved to act all froggy but as soon as the get into the deep do-do of Islam they get homesick and call their mommy.

After a broken romance westerners might join a dating agency, followers of Mohammed might join a band of murderous fanatics. It’s a mystery, isn’t it?

Wheres voegy???
Saleem Smith’s comment above “One who claims to be a messenger of God is expected to live a saintly life. …” reminded me about voegy
While voeg loves to attack other anti-jihadis (in absentia) for not being as anti-jihad as he claims to be, I recall a time when a clever defender of Islam had viciously tried to discredit Saleem Smith and the same people that voeg complains about were right there on the front line in the trenches while voeg sandered in from commenting on other threads to meekly say Hey Saleem, I heard you have a website, me too as if that could pass as support.

Jay Boo – Let’s see…”Voegy”…that’d rhyme with “fogie”, non? ))))) Cheers! Quotha R

good one

The point minus my “frontline” hyperbole is not that voeg choose to sit on the sidelines or was afraid he might not be up to the task. That could be easily overlooked.
Instead, he tried to pull off a fast-one with the illusion of giving support while keeping a safe distance as if we are all stupid enough not to notice.
“irksome” voeg

JB – I certainly agree that “irksome” is a wonderful word to describe Voeg. Cheers! QR

This is something that strikes me as quite wrong…is one’s right to a speedy trial down the tubes, along with so many other Constitutionally designated rights? He’s been in custody for MORE THAN A YEAR?
My question is why? Is his case so complicated? Post-Constitutional USA sounds more and more like Soviet Union. Whatever else is on our plate, this is totally scary. Cheers!
PRCS says
Yes,
It does seem to be a long trial. Maybe some lawyerly delaying tactics or perhaps–and hopefully–he’s still undergoing periodic “enhanced interrogation”.

I have publicly posted a lot of information about the circle of Jihadi friends that Fadi-Fadi Dandach had in Orange County. Two of them have gone to Syria and never came back. He is part of the Central Asian circle of Jihadis that have been associated with the Kavkaz Center in Santa Ana.
The role of the internet is to provide communications of orders and instructions. Radicalization is the job of local ISIS recruiters. They are called “daleels”, or more properly, “dalaa`il”, or “guides”. Fadi-Fadi was in ISIS since no later than 2010. it wasn’t obvious back then, that it was separate from Al-Qaeda.
I disagree and oppose the FBI’s decision to publicly pretend that young “heritage Muslims” are “radicalized on the internet”, rather than publicly admit that ex-Soviet Central Asians who speak Russian are the people who are “running things” for ISIS — both in Western countries and over in the Dawla. First Adam Gadahn, now this dipshit.
Not to stereotype, but should we beware of overweight Californian headbanger post teens named Adam who convert to Islam? Or is it just that last part that’s the indicator of something not right in the heads of these guys?
PRCS says
I think he was supposed to be a replacement for the now departed Adam1.
Cecilia Ellis says
Max, “Adam” is the English transliteration of the Hebrew “alef-dalet-mem,” which means “humanity.” It seems that Islam stole that as well, like everything else it has stolen in 1400 years. Actually, I’m surprised they stole it . . . there is no humanity in Islam.
William Snow Hume says
@ Max Publius, PRCS & Cecilia Ellis: Both Adams have been associated with the Kavkaz Center in Santa Ana, which I will publicly accuse of being an “ISIS mosque”. Adam Dandach is not a convert to Islam; he is a “heritage Muslim”, that is, he was “born a Muslim”. Like many Jihadis, he followed the recommendation — now published in the on-line official ISIS guide “How to Survive in the West” — that he use a westernized name like “Adam”, in order to mislead others. A recent housemate of mine worked in Costa Mesa, and knew Adam and Adam’s friends, and this man is still very sad about how Adam misled him, by saying that he took on the name “Adam” as part of separation from Islam. It was just the opposite. WSH
