Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Huffington Post Arabic edition attacks gays, atheists

Aug 10, 2015 6:33 pm By Robert Spencer

Huffington Bloomberg RaufThe Huffington Post Arabic edition is the Leftist/Islamic supremacist alliance come to life. No one should be surprised by these posts: the Left for years now has turned a blind eye to Sharia oppression of women, gays, non-Muslims and others. In the hierarchy of Leftist protected classes, clearly Muslims trump gays and women. And gay activists and feminists never get a clue and realize that only “right-wing Islamophobes” are standing up for them against that oppression.

“Huffington Post causes outrage after Arabic edition criticises gay people, atheists and selfies,” by Ian Burrell, Independent, August 10, 2015:

The Huffington Post has caused outrage among those readers who considered it a liberal left website by launching an Arabic edition which has promptly criticised gays, atheists and the practice of taking selfies.

Days after going live, the site has already published a series of vitriolic outbursts including a piece by an Egyptian contributor on Saturday complaining that atheists were being allowed on Egyptian television and that the Government permitted “a press conference for gays in the heart of Cairo”.

In another article for the site, an Algerian columnist, authored what was intended as “an open letter to all the Islamic Ummah’s youth”, condemned the selfie as symptom of “the diseases and the viruses of the Western world”.

The blog, the author claimed, was designed as “call to stop adopting such sick behaviours that come to destroy our traditions and the basics of human cultural identity.”

In an interview last month, the website’s founder, Arianna Huffington, 65, had promised that Huffington Post Arabi would endorse the values of other editions of the news and blog site. The Cambridge-educated Huffington, who sold her site to Internet giant AOL for $315m in 2011 and reportedly pocketed $21m from the deal.

She suggested that the new Arabi service would be a platform for those speaking out in support of greater social and political freedom. “One of the reasons why we are going to be based in London and Istanbul is to make it clear avoiding any kind of censorship and control is absolutely key to our coverage,” she said. “We will support [contributors] in every way.”

Unfortunately for Ms Huffington, the new edition’s controversial output was translated by rival site BuzzFeed.

Huffington Post’s executive international editor Nicholas Sabloff responded that the blog comments “do not reflect HuffPOst’s global editorial viewpoint”. He claimed that Arabi would offer “diversity and balance”.

The anti-gay blog was removed and replaced with the message. “This blog should not have been published as it contradicts the Huffington Post’s editorial positions and guidelines which are based on encouraging positive dialogue and mutual respect. It has therefore been taken down.”

One reader of the new site complained that “with this homophobic vitriolic post”, the Huffington Post had “let its Arabic site disgrace its brand”….

Only gays and atheists? pfff…. What about the Jews? They are the real enemies of peace. Just ask Mo.

Don’t worry these Muslims will get to the Jews and polytheists very soon. I agree about the selfie thing though, it is extreme narcissim. Apparently, liberals prefer Muslims to gays and atheists as the Muslims are slaughtering the left’s enemies, Jews and Christians, which the gays and atheists refuse to do.

And surprised no one for doing so… Well, at least it shouldn’t have come as surprise to anyone.

Days after going live, the site has already published a series of vitriolic outbursts including a piece by an Egyptian contributor on Saturday complaining that atheists were being allowed on Egyptian television and that the Government permitted “a press conference for gays in the heart of Cairo”.

Sisi better start double-checking how devout his bodyguards are…

In another article for the site, an Algerian columnist, authored what was intended as “an open letter to all the Islamic Ummah’s youth”, condemned the selfie as symptom of “the diseases and the viruses of the Western world”.

Look, I find selfies as annoying as the next man, but if that’s the worst you can think of to criticize in the West then you’re already in our grip. There weren’t selfies around in muhammad’s time. How do you know he wouldn’t like them and have a convenient “revelation” abrogating the prohibition of images?

The blog, the author claimed, was designed as “call to stop adopting such sick behaviours that come to destroy our traditions and the basics of human cultural identity.”

Right, because islam treasures cultural identity and in no way forces its adherents, over the threat of death, to speak, dress and act in the same fashion, regardless of their cultural background…

    She’s a one-percenter! #OccupyHuffPo, NOW!!!

She suggested that the new Arabi service would be a platform for those speaking out in support of greater social and political freedom.

And who could have imagined muslims would use it to bash gays, or atheists, or vilify the West?

“One of the reasons why we are going to be based in London and Istanbul is to make it clear avoiding any kind of censorship and control is absolutely key to our coverage,” she said. “We will support [contributors] in every way.”

    “London”. “Istanbul”. “Avoiding censorship”

    BWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWA!!!

    *snort*

    Oh, my sides!!!

Unfortunately for Ms Huffington, the new edition’s controversial output was translated by rival site BuzzFeed.

Otherwise we would not have know about it, and HuffPo would still be pretending to be a paragon of virtue, multiculturalism and freedom.

Huffington Post’s executive international editor Nicholas Sabloff responded that the blog comments “do not reflect HuffPOst’s global editorial viewpoint”. He claimed that Arabi would offer “diversity and balance”.

    It won’t.

The anti-gay blog was removed and replaced with the message. “This blog should not have been published as it contradicts the Huffington Post’s editorial positions and guidelines which are based on encouraging positive dialogue and mutual respect. It has therefore been taken down.”

Under those alleged guidelines it should not have been published on the first place. The irony here is that HuffPo is practicing censorship while pretending to care about freedom.

One reader of the new site complained that “with this homophobic vitriolic post”, the Huffington Post had “let its Arabic site disgrace its brand”….

Hmmm. Had a conservative said that, the word “racist” or islamophobe” would have been thrown around.

      Angemon,

Be careful, even under Obamacare the repair and healing of a split side from laughing can be very expensive.

And those selfies – too much introspection? I can imagine that Muhammad would have made a few personal videos that Osama Bin Laden could have watched.

Wouldn’t it have been great to hear the Arabic editor conversing with the managing editor. “What does it say?” “It’s about Islamic family values.”, “Ok, that should be well accepted”. Arabic Editor thinking, (yeah, you dhimmi-dummy gay-lover, wait til it’s published).

Who doesn’t believe they will try to push intolerance and Da’wa to the limit?

I agree about the selfies but people have been taking photos of themselves since photography was invented. Smart phones have just made it easier. Let us hope it is just a silly fad.
Of course we know very well about Islamic attitudes to representation so the human form.

HP disgraced itself the very first time they were silent about MISOGYNY AND SUPREMACISM.

    Silence means approval!

TO FAIL TO SPEAK A WORD IN DEFENSE OF THE PERSECUTED IS WORSE THAN ANY CRIME.

Truly correct. The Gay community’s leaders have been hoodwinked by their Leftarded cultural Marxist ‘allies’ who actually threw them under the bus…they were TOTALLY SILENT when ISIS pushed Gays off the towers of Iraq and Syria.

“Gay community’s leaders have been hoodwinked by their Leftarded cultural Marxist ‘allies’ ..”

I’m not sure the “gay” leftist leaders have been hoodwinked by anyone.

The primary commitment of leftist “leaders” of any persuasion is to dissolve the current social order and create a new order with them in charge. But, they’re not so adverse to feathering their own nests…a nice house in an exclusive neighborhood, dinner parties with expensive wine, and perhaps a large nest egg.

There is no downside to attacking conservatives. The attackers get lots of publicity, and don’t have to worry about physical danger.

If any “gay” leader began speaking about the actual attitude of Islam towards gays, it would become very dangerous for that leader. Muslim losers would began going after him, and Muslim losers make credible killers. The other leftist leaders would immediately withdraw any support and their shock troops would harass and vandalize the one who was outspoken. All in all, it’s a losing proposition for the putative leftist “gay” leader who considers actually telling the truth about the dangers of Islam.

      • Nimrod says

        Aug 11, 2015 at 3:23 am

People are foolishly assuming that gay leaders actually believe in the concept of an individual right and believe that individuals in their group matter.

In reality, as long as their big group blob is still there and the blob is granted this and that, or the blob is doing this and that, it doesn’t matter what happens to some individual members. Some of their members could get killed and, from their perspective, they’re still leading a large blob that will still function. So who cares? The blob is unaffected.

      • Agent of Liberty says

        Aug 11, 2015 at 8:07 am

        Yes RonaldB

The gay protester who made a ISIS flag made of dildos and butt plugs at the London gay pride event has had been threatened with death. Any gay person, or basically anyone who speaks out against islam will be threatened with death.

  5. Matthieu Baudin says

    Aug 10, 2015 at 10:54 pm

“… In the hierarchy of Leftist protected classes, clearly Muslims trump gays and women…”

It’s mainly people outside of the ‘progressive chattering class’ that are able to see the glaring incompatibility of the ’causes’ that are embraced. For those who live insulated lives engaged in ‘progressive’ mutual grooming and admiration, the obvious contradictions between loyalty to conflicting ’causes’ are largely overlooked and ignored because of the ‘Chinese Curtain’ phenomenon. These ‘progressive’ opinion leaders simply look at one ’cause’ or ‘allied group’ at a time. In this fashion it’s possible to continue indefinitely without caring about consistency or stopping to consider the broader political or social context. It’s worth remembering that today’s ‘progressive’ opinion leaders are largely guided by postmodern thought, which is not terribly interested in consistency or making sense, qualities that they often see as superfluous relics of an oppressive western scientific tradition.

    • Nimrod says

      Aug 11, 2015 at 3:09 am

Socialism is based on the idea that individuals have no individual rights, only groups have rights.

So gay people as a group have a right to be gay, and Muslims as a group have a right to be Muslim. Nobody has any individual rights though so if a Muslim kills a gay person for being gay, that’s an individual rights issue thus who cares if they get killed? They have no individual rights anyway according to pure Socialism. Since this killing didn’t prevent the whole group of gay people from being gay, and the whole group wasn’t wiped out, it really doesn’t matter if a few gay people get killed by Muslims or if Muslims advocate for killing gays.

In pure Socialist thinking, Muslims would basically have to set up concentration camps for gays and try to completely kill the entire group before anyone would see a possible rights issue. Then it would only matter if it looked like they might be successful at killing every single gay person. If they only manage to round up a small percentage they hey, doesn’t matter, because the group entity still survives. No big deal. The group is there, it’s still alive, so no harm done right?

This is what happens when the only entities that matter in the world are blob-like groups and the individuals are no more significant than individual cells in your body. Individuals are completely abstracted out of existence by the group.

I had to laugh at the irony of a “progressive news site” publishing attacks on minorities and diversity. The liberals don’t “get it” do they, they actually believe the nonsense the write and speak about Islam. In fact in their eagerness to be “fair and accepting” they indanger the very gains they say they fought for.

All of HP is worse than Al Jazzera in its bias against the West and for Islam. And that is no exaggeration.

Arianna is a traitor to the West and to the Greeks (her heritage) who have had to fight the Islamistist Turks for thousands of years. And look what the Turks are doing now — supporting ISIS.

Shame on you Arianna, you traitor.

    • voegelinian says

      Aug 11, 2015 at 4:53 pm

What’s amusing is that Arianna back in the 90s used to promote herself as a “conservative” and would often appear on Bill Maher’s then-ABC show Politically Incorrect siding on the “incorrect” side against liberal guests. While I tend to be skeptical of the indiscriminate label-stripping-gun many in the Counter-Jihad apply, such that any putative conservative who happens to say anything soft on Islam or Muslims is suddenly stripped of his status as conservative (thus the “No True Scotsman” fallacy), that doesn’t mean there aren’t actually some faux conservatives around. I would term Arianna’s brand Designer Conservative.

I am rightwing, but I will not subdue to ever supporting nor endorsing the gay-way of life! It is exactly the same that the leftists are doing, when it comes to trying to force their views Down the throats of others; they call you a ‘racist’ or an ‘islamophobe’, if you do not agree! Why is it that this is now also counting for the gay-movement? Why MUST people love and adore people that do anal-sex??? WHY????

It really annoys me! Anal-sex has become a new religion, and I am utterly disgusted!

    • Diana Trimble says

      Aug 11, 2015 at 1:20 pm

Why are you so upset by, and clearly obsessed with, whether other people are having anal sex or not? (Newsflash: it isn’t only gay men who engage in this practice.) I will never for the life of me understand why people like you are so outraged by something that is totally none of your business, and should most definitely be beyond the scope of any laws in a proper democracy. The only reason “gay rights” has become a thing is because homosexuals, who don’t “choose” a “lifestyle” by the way but really are born that way, have been grossly oppressed and bullied. People only take being kicked in the teeth for no good reason for so long before they start to rise up. Don’t like the gay rights movement? Blame yourself and your bigoted buddies, because you’re the ones who created the backlash.

Read Matthew 19:1-6, Jesus Christ, the only perfect human who ever lived with the authority to speak on the subject defined creation, gender and marriage. I can believe him or I can believe you: not a hard decision.
