Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Jordanians “will join Islamic State because they learned in school that this is Islam”

Aug 8, 2015 8:41 am By Robert Spencer

Jordan mosque religion class“’Islamic State ideology is there, in our textbooks,’ said Zogan Obiedat, a former Education Ministry official who published a recent analysis of the texts. If Jordan were to be overrun by the militants, a large majority ‘will join IS because they learned in school that this is Islam,’ he said.”

How did the textbooks in Jordan get filled with this completely un-Islamic understanding of Islam? Will one of the Western non-Muslim authorities who assure us that the Islamic State is un-Islamic kindly explain? How long are they going to continue to lie to us and ignore reality? The answer to that is that they will do so as long as they aren’t held accountable. And yet no one is asking about the ridiculous positions they are taking on these matters, and both parties hold to the same soothing fictions.

“Jordan tries to stem IS-style extremism in schools, mosques,” Associated Press, August 8, 2015 (thanks to Lookmann):

AMMAN, Jordan (AP) — In pro-Western Jordan, a leader in the fight against Islamic State militants, school books warn students they risk “God’s torture” if they don’t embrace Islam. They portray “holy war” as a religious obligation if Islamic lands are attacked and suggest it is justified to kill captured enemies.

Christians, the country’s largest religious minority, are largely absent from the texts.

The government says it’s tackling the contradiction between official anti-extremist policy and what is taught in schools and mosques by rewriting school books and retraining thousands of teachers and preachers.

Critics say the reforms are superficial, fail to challenge hard-line traditions, and that the first revised textbooks for elementary school children still present Islam as the only true religion.

“Islamic State ideology is there, in our textbooks,” said Zogan Obiedat, a former Education Ministry official who published a recent analysis of the texts. If Jordan were to be overrun by the militants, a large majority “will join IS because they learned in school that this is Islam,” he said.

Government officials insist they are serious about reform.

The rewritten books will teach “how to be a moderate Muslim, how to respect others, how to live in an environment that has many nationalities and different ethnic groups,” said Education Minister Mohammed Thnaibat.

Thnaibat refused to discuss hard-line passages in the unrevised books, but said there are limits to reform. Jordan is an Islamic country, he said, and “you cannot go against the culture of the society.”…

There are limits to reform, eh? Logged and noted.

‘Gods’ is going to torture you’….if you don’t comply, and maybe even if you do comply…The threat of divine punishment and torture is present in all religions, but especially Islam who carries it out on a daily basis…
Punishment in this world and the next where Allah will force you to drink boiling water…
The culprit here is believing Allah is God, which it’s not…but that’s another story…

Exactly. Muslim countries are living in a HUGE COGNITIVE DISSONANCE…they are fighting the sort of jihad that they teach to pupils in their nations’ schools.

How can they fight jihad warriors for doing EXACTLY what Jordan’s school textbooks teach children to do?? Hypocrisy.

    A JOKE!

A Golden Rule version of Islam does not exist, because it contradicts Islamic theology:

Koran 48.29 “Muhammad is the messenger of Allah; Those with him are VIOLENT (ashiddaa’) against the disbelievers (kufaar); Compassionate amongst themselves.”

    Yes, “violent” (ashidaa).

I think this illustrates that the majority of Muslims do not have the Miltant Jihadist disease until they are exposed to the militant part of Islam’s Quran and Sunnah doctrines. The Saudis have been complicit in spreading this disease and now are threatened and finally in the effort to stop it. It’s like a virulent strain that escaped from a lab.

Putting militant jihad in school textbooks gives it authority from the society of the student. It will be believed, accepted, and acted upon at some future date. It is programming, the essence of a virus, and was intended by those who chose the textbooks.

If it wasn’t for Israel propping them up, Jordan would descend into utter chaos, and go the way of Syria, Iraq, etc.

    Good morning Muslim world.
It is time to wake up.

    The Crow Knows —

    The imam was here creeping
Before the back doors began to squeaking
The crow knows where all the children cry
Soon the worms will all be squirming
After the crow has done feeding
    The imam was here preaching
His reason was to teach the will of Islam’s ‘god’
But the crow knows the real reason WHY
Because the crow knows this is where all the children cry

Jordan could yet be the next domino to fall in the middle east. Most of it’s population are Arabs who call themselves Palestinians. The moderate modern King in many ways is out of step with his population and could very easily face an Islamist revolution and go the same way as the other Arab leaders ruling over kingdoms invented by Britain and France. One of the dangers of sending military hardware to these “friendlies” is their regimes may not last, and then that same weaponry couldl be seized by the Jihadists.

The so-called moderate regime of Jordan is very vulnerable in several key ways, such as lack of water and oil, reliance on tourism which could be lost, large refugee populations, massive youth unemployment and proximity to “Syria” and “Iraq”.

If there is social struggle there, then “moderate” Jordanians will have to decide to fight “true believer” Jordanians. This is a case where everybody should see that classical Sharia and jihad DESTROYS countries, so every reasonable Jordanian should defend the country from the bad guys.

The problem is that these Middle Eastern Muslims are basically irrational and many Sunni really do choose chaos and destruction and bloodshed. And that process does start in the schools of the Muslim countries. Islamofascists can become stronger in Jordan for the same reasons the Nazis did well in 1930s Germany.
And for one other reason. The Sunnis really do not believe in nation-states. They believe in Sunni community above nation states, like the Muslim Brotherhood and the OIC. Syria looked stable six years back but it is economically destroyed and survives only due to massive support from Iran.
In short, Jordan looks stable but the economic system could start falling down.

If Sunni fever develops in Jordan then all bets are off for the regime and social system. Fanatics and the disaffected could mount a major challenge for “Islamic reform” against womens’ rights and press rights etc. and towards a caliphate.
It’s completely stupid to go that route, but we see Muslim countries crash and burn.
If the Syrian regime is wiped out by Sunni takeover and genocide then Jordan becomes the major target right next door. In that case, the combination of internal and external support for regime change could prove too much for Jordan. Geopolitics and fanatic Sunni culture are both crucial here.

It’s all insane and dysfunctional but then again, no one ever said the Sunnis are sane or reasonable. They’re not, because Sunnis are ALL brought up on irrational nonsense like jihad and Sharia and Islamic supremacism. They actually fail to grasp the basic idea of a social contract ( see Pew polls ) , so they’re always breaking stuff and over time ruining everything they touch.
So, watch out for Sunni fever in Jordan.

“How did the textbooks in Jordan get filled with this completely un-Islamic understanding of Islam?”

Nonsense. Gibberish. The ISIS interpretation of Islam is in Jordan’s textbooks because they are simply following the clear teachings of Islam and so are the textbooks.

Nothing ISIS has done is out of line with the teachings of their faith. If you read the Koran and follow its teachings, you behave as they do.

      Callawyn,

That question was an example of what is known as “sarcasm.”
