“There was no explosion, but the post ‘referenced creating explosives, homicide, suicide and a past university shooting,’ said UCSC Police Chief Nader Oweis.”
“Man arrested in online threat to UC Santa Cruz,” by Stephen Baxter, Santa Cruz Sentinel, August 20, 2015:
SANTA CRUZ >> A 25-year-old Santa Cruz man was arrested Wednesday in an online threat of an explosion at UC Santa Cruz, UCSC police said.
There was no explosion, but the post “referenced creating explosives, homicide, suicide and a past university shooting,” said UCSC Police Chief Nader Oweis.
The man is not a UCSC student and made the remarks anonymously online, Oweis said. Oweis said police take such reports “very seriously and investigates them to their fullest extent.”
About 7 p.m. Wednesday, a father of a UCSC student spotted the post and reported it to police, Oweis said.
Authorities tracked the post to Ayman Kareem Hawari on the 600 block of Pacific Avenue, according to Oweis and jail records. Hawari was arrested on suspicion of making terrorist threats and resisting arrest, Oweis said.
Hawari was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail after midnight, Oweis said. Officers have not found a connection between him and the university, Oweis said.
“The post didn’t target any individuals, though it included general threats against two campus colleges, Oakes and Porter,” Oweis said.
Other people also contacted police with concerns about the online post, Oweis said. Police have not yet said on which website it appeared…

A muslim threatening to blow something up? Why, that’s unheard of!

Talk about stupid Jihadis. Santa Cruz is the only California University more liberal than Berkeley.
The last thing a jihadi should desire is turning these students into critical thinkers with a jaundiced eye toward Islam.

This guy looks like the typical leftie (and possible meth user) that lives on Pacific Ave. Another dumb convert who hails from Fresno, his birth name is Nichols.
Glad that he didn’t blow up my Alma Mater.

What! No beard! How un-Islamic! Maybe the local imam outreach-to-prisoners program will set him straight on proper Islamic standards of appearance . . . as well as instruct him on the peaceful nature of Islam . . . after he is issued a Qur’an, a prayer rug, and prayer beads (which enable the user to recite each of the 99 names of Allah . . . such as the “Greatest of Deceivers”). Then, he can check off his halal menu request, followed by a request for a publicly-funded defense counsel. Then there’s that one phone call he is allowed, which he will make to CAIR as soon as he finishes his noon-time prayers and lunch. In the meantime, law enforcement agencies will try to discern a motive for Hawari’s actions targeting UCSC by interviewing professors — who will excuse his absence from classes for religious reasons — and family — who will state that he is a good boy who would never do anything like this because that would be un-Islamic — and friends — who will confirm that he never expressed any extremist views while playing Frisbee at dorm-hosted barbecues — and local imams — who will state that Hawari never attended their mosques.
