UPDATE: A Navy spokesman has denied this. We will see how matters develop once this story has dropped out of the headlines.

If this happens, it will confirm that in Obama’s America, jihad terrorist lives matter. Those of their victims, not so much. “Revealed: Navy Officer Did Something Heroic During Chattanooga Shooting, But May Be PUNISHED For It,” by James Beattie, Western Journalism, July 22, 2015 (thanks to Pamela Geller):
A Navy officer and Marine reportedly returned fire at the shooter who killed five service members in Chattanooga, Tenn., even though current policy does not permit military members to carry firearms on facilities such as those where the attack occurred.
Mohammod Abdulazeez was slain last Thursday after allegedly firing dozens of shots at two separate military facilities, including the Navy Operational Support Center in Chattanooga. The cold-blooded assault killed four Marines and one active-duty Navy reservist.
The investigation into the attack is ongoing, and authorities will not know if White or the Marine hit Abdulazeez until an autopsy and a ballistics report have been completed. The recruiting center, the other building at which the gunman fired, was reopened Monday….

How many other loyal lives did he save? Where’s the rest of the US Navy, that should be applauding & thanking him? Where’s the loyal pro bono lawyers who should be defending him & getting the idiotic rules changed?

Okay, let’s not get all rabid and anti-Obama.The Navy quickly responded that the allegations are false.
“Stories of Navy personnel being charged with an offense are not true. There is still a long way to go in reviewing the facts of this tragic incident, but at this time we can confirm no service member has been charged with an offense,” the Navy said in a statement posted to social media.
Most of the comments on this site are so far away from reality that they have no effect on reasonable people. Wild and paranoid comments make Jihad Watch seem like a web site for crazy people, and thus the important messages from Jihad Watch lose their effect.
Purushottam Deshmukh says
Dear Mr William Knutsen,
I am agree with you. People sending comments to this website use filthy language. There is no potential in their comments. They are empty and vulgar. Sure, these comments no way help the cause against terrorism and terrorist ideology. It is because of these people Robert Spencer’s painstaking journalism avail nothing. His deep investigations into jihadists and jihad-ism are changed into a kind of food to nourish serious personality problems.

I agree with you both. People just read what they want to read, or don’t read at all and just spew their own poisoned minds out here.

>>This has absolutely nothing to do with Obama.
Obama sets the tone for the cultural and legal climate of the day, just as Blair set the tone in Britain in his day.
And we all knew that Blair’s Britain would persecute anyone who spoke out about immigration and multiculturalism. And it only takes a few senior police officers and judges to be in fear of their jobs, and they will force everyone below them to fall in line. This is how government works – for better or for worse.
In the case of Obama he has clearly set the tone that all Muslims must be innocent and get a free pass. The judicial system knows that, and are in fear of their jobs, and do exactly what Obama wants.
If Obama had stood up and praised this officer for his actions, and called him a hero of America, do you really think the judiciary would threaten to prosecute him? Do you really?
Aton
RonaldB says
It’s not the judiciary that would prosecute the action of the soldiers. It’s the military chain of command. The chain of command is under the direct control of the President. Note that the investigation concerns violation of policy, not a direct violation of law or military statutes.
As things go, the investigation is probably a positive aspect, as it will highlight the idiocy of the rule itself. It’s akin to the rules of engagement in Afghanistan, where US soldiers are allowed to shoot only at an enemy actively shooting at them. Prosecuting solders for common sense measures will have the same effect as prosecuting police in Baltimore for doing their jobs and arresting criminals.

If you’re considering it strictly from the viewpoint that it was signed into law well before his first term, then no, it has nothing to do with BO.
Considering the rising number of incidents of these attacks and threats, and his bland “our hearts & prayers are with the families…” response to each, it has all kinds of something to do with BO. There are more muslim immigrants pouring in under his direction, and more ‘home grown’ jihadi wanna-bes, and his admin appears very protective and supportive of their rights. Just 5% of muslim immigrants feeling as Abdulazeez did is too high to be ignored, and 5% is most certainly a conservative estimate.
It sure took a lot of persuading to get him to lower that flag.

Yes, Angemon. Ft. Hood was a “weapons-free zone”, as well. It took a *civilian* police officer to take out Nidal Malik Hasan. Who knows how many lives could have been saved if trained military personnel had been armed?

Annie Oakley says
An American military commander with a set of big, brass, you-know-whats (insert the gender-appropriate, politically correct term of your liking) is something that Obama cannot stand. It’s also what Obama fears in the average American soldier.
Remember when Obama first called for a “parallel army” that was just as well-armed and strong as our regular military? Well, he’s creating it but it isn’t going to be what he envisioned. He seems to have decided that he can accomplish his goal by simply gelding our current military. Whether the change of mind was motivated by supreme personal arrogance, time constraints or a realization that the temperament of the vast majority of Americans will not tolerate Obama forming his own personal army doesn’t matter. It’s the results of his grab for power that are so maddening but at the same time are so delightfully entertaining & Shakespearean in it’s portents of doom & twists of fate.
Obama has already created a parallel army and doesn’t even seem to know it. While Obama plays cruel games with what he arrogantly calls “his soldiers”, that parallel army has been formed of Oathkeepers, veterans, LEOs, patriots, hunters and more. Each officer that Obama fires without good cause is another leader for the parallel army. Each soldier forced to endure Obama’s suicidal (homicidal?) Rules of Engagement in which they aren’t allowed to engage America’s enemies or even defend themselves when attacked becomes another soldier in that parallel army.
Congratulations, Mr. Obama! You have indeed kept your promise of creating a second, parallel army that’s (at least) as well-trained and well-armed as America’s official Army!
Thanks to you, Mr. Obama, America now has 2 armies….but you are only in charge of 1 of them!
Undaunted says
The doctrine of competing harms will get a full viewing in this case, if it goes to court martial.
Harm 1: Violation of the law against weapons on military installations. And add the fact that he didn’t just possess if, he actually used it.
Harm 2: What the bad-guy shooter was doing, committing murder.
The court will consider if Harm 2 could have continued if Harm 1 had not been committed and when they see that Harm 2 would have indeed gone on, White will walk because though he broke the law by having the pistol, the totality of circumstances as he observed them then and there would lead a reasonable man to do what he did. Shootings at other military installations, from Fort Hood to the Little Rock Recruiting Station, may also come into play by the defense because these other shootings again go to what a reasonable man would do in the face of persistent deadly threats.
In a way, it would be good to run this through the courts because then the world will see the threat is bigger than they know and more people like LtCdr White would become as prepared as he. Pray White gets a bad-ass pro-gun defense attorney and doesn’t just take some JAG knucklehead.
Annie Oakley says
He’ll need the officers on his Courts Martial to be just as courageous as he is. Any officer who votes to acquit him will almost certainly have his/her own career summarily ended by the vengeful tyrant in the White House.
The best hope for a fair trial is to keep delaying it until after Obama leaves office.
Undaunted says
Yeah, what you said.
Shmooviyet says
True, @Annie O.; unfortunately, this would seem to be one of those cases this admin would want to see finished off before BO”s gone.
Re your post from 9:33 AM, ‘testicular fortitude’ seems an appropriate term for what we need more of in the upper reaches of gov’t and BO’s selected military– the kind Lt. Com. White obviously has.
Where will the Repubs who want to be the next American President stand on this?

We had a similar situation in the UK, when a policeman was prosecuted for manslaughter because he pushed a protestor. (he fell over and died)
So the next time there was trouble on the streets, the riot police simply refused to engage, unless they were given immunity from prosecution. The government refused, so the police did nothing. The rioters soon realised what was happening, and so we had nationwide rioting and mass looting.
Finally, after many days, the government realised that the police could not be prosecuted for doing their job, and gave them the immunity they had asked for.

The more often heroes like this are prosecuted, the closer decent society is pushed toward a lawless vigilante state. I’m surprised widespread vigilante action hasn’t happened already.
Mannie says
Lt. Cmdr. White knew the regulations. He knew he was breaking them and might be subject to a General Court Martial if caught. He presumably calculated the benefit / cost ratio and decided that the benefits outweighed the cost. I think he proved that they did. But he knew the risk he was taking, and he decided that human lives were worth more than his career. I honor him for that, but the wheels will turn.
The outcome, now, will mostly hinge on whether the GCM board values lifesaving action more than their careers.
Lt. Cmdr. White, you are in my prayers.

I’d be giving that Navy officer a medal……a job well done.
Muslims should be banned from all military bases and institutions in the USA anyways

Open season for infidels……if Naval Officer White is prosecuted for shooting Chattanooga jihadist.
If our federal government mandates restraint against Muslim’s criminal actions it is going to introduce an unwanted precedence to see more of these terrorist mayhems. Most likely, these criminals never seeing their just punishment. The perpetrators will always have free reign to do with us without repercussions!
Are we American’s going to bow to the Muslim’s world whims and wiles just like the Europeans current situation/dilemma?
Is the current government really pre-planning such a scenarios?
We should demand that America continues to be a Sovereign nation, as it has been since the ratification of its US Constitution back in 1776!
An observation: The Infidels of the world suffer from two personal FEAR attributes
1. The ostrich syndrome: they bury their heads in the sand so as not to see eminent dangers. If we don’t see it it’s not happening!
2. The repercussion syndrome: if we don’t rattle the hornets’ nest we will be safe/ok!
All of the above is an act of fear cowardice and our cowardice is the bait that causes us to succumb to Satan’s whims to do whatever the hell IT wants us to do for IT. A side note: Satan has no gender; IT is an entity that resides in our minds (subconscious).
Want to rid Satan? Think about our virtue of Courage as deterrence against evil…just by our wholesome thoughts! Try it and affirm the thought and it will manifest its reality!
Yes its hell on here earth; as the idiom goes to say and we are the ones that cuddle hell…..in our minds that is!
Sometimes, as humans, I think we are gluttons for punishments! Think about that!
Undaunted says
Um, Ed; the US Constitution was ratified in 1787. The rest of your argument needs some adjustment as well.
Edward says
In 1776 Pennsylvania enacted its first state constitution in direct response to the Declaration of Independence and the instructions of the Second Continental Congress to the colonies to reject British rule by which was in process through 1790.
For all practical purposes America in July 4, 1776 became a sovereign nation. And yes, the last of the 13 original states to sign the US Constitution was Rhode Island in 1790.
Since you say my arguments need adjustments please exercise your virtue of courage to counter my comments!
Undaunted says
Your reference was clearly to the ratification of the US Constitution. You get called on a mistake and you change your line of argument. Nope, not going to argue with someone like you.

I would not take it personally. I have made mistakes and omissions which were pointed out but this is not being done for belittlement. Instead it is done so that when discussing an issue with a leftist liberal you will be clear, to the point and free from error. Suicidal madness. Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White is a hero. He should be cited for disobeying regs, then *given a medal* for acting with bravery and foresight and saving lives.
Then the insane ban on military personnel carrying arms should *be overturned*.
After Ft. Hood, Little Rock, the attempted attack in Illinois, homicidal attacks on military personnel in other Western nations such as those at the Canadian National War Memorial in Ottawa and the beheading of Drummer Lee Rigby in London, and now Chattanooga, how many other soldiers do you suppose are doing *exactly* what Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White did, and are quietly carrying their own firearms? I’d bet there are thousands, and more power to them.

“Gun-free zones” are idiotic, and this incident provided further proof. I wish more of my fellow progressives would come to this realization — sooner, rather than later. Anyone willing to break the law against murder will not be restrained by any gun bans. Gun-free zones turn law-abiding people into sheep, ripe for slaughter.
Fortunately, one good guy ignored this bone-headed ban. Otherwise, the body count would have been higher.

There’s a saying current in the pro-2nd Amendment community, “I’d rather be judged by twelve than carried by six.”
The more that the laws force good citizens into that kind of choice, the more pressure builds for electoral defeat of incumbents, jury nullification and civil disobedience.
Bezelel says
ElderlyZionist, I totally agree with that old saying. Do you ever wonder if the choices we are struggling with are not foreseeable to our legislators? And if so,why would they continue this course? This is absolutely outrageous and should not be tolerated by each and every individual who is the possessor of basic common sense and a sense of Justice. This is where the evil madness of relative morality and political correctness and the spurious faux human rights culture inevitably leads. In this type of society no one is ever totally right or ever totally wrong. In this dystopian world view it is better for the terrorist to kill innocent people than for an individual of courage and morality to kill the terrorist if that means acting in a way that breaks the politically correct code of the new arbiters of right and wrong. In a sane world this man would be praised and rewarded for his selfless courage and individualistic thinking. The very suggestion of a prosecution is an affront to decency, sanity and the right of the individual to preserve his own and others lives.
