Robert Spencer in FP: France Train Jihadi ‘Dumbfounded’ to Be Accused of Terrorism

Aug 24, 2015 5:14 am By Robert Spencer

France train attackIt was just your ordinary robbery attempt, you see, with a Kalashnikov. My latest in FrontPage:

It is a recurring and increasingly ridiculous feature of jihad terror coverage: every time a Muslim screaming “Allahu akbar” plants a bomb or opens fire on a crowd of infidels, mainstream media coverage notes that “the attacker’s motive is not known.” But now Ayoub el-Khazzani, the Muslim gunman who was overpowered by three Americans, including two Marines, on a Paris-bound train last Friday, has gone the media one better by professing to be “dumbfounded” at being accused of terrorism. But the media, not unexpectedly, is happily going along, spreading the fog of disinformation that envelops the West’s response to the jihad threat even more thickly.

El-Khazzani is “dumbfounded” that he is being accused of being a terrorist? Any sane person should be dumbfounded that he is dumbfounded. A bearded, caftan-wearing Muslim carries a Kalashnikov, an automatic pistol, ammunition and a box cutter onto a crowded train in a country where the Islamic State has repeatedly called for lone wolf jihad attacks, opened fire with the Kalashnikov, and he is “dumbfounded” that anyone thinks he is a terrorist? How stupid does he think Western authorities are?

Very stupid, apparently. His lawyer, Sophie David, said that el-Khazzani was shocked “to the point of being amused” by the idea that anyone thought him a terrorist. “He does not understand why this story has taken on such importance. He says he just wanted to extort money from Thalys passengers, nothing else. He denies that there was any terrorist dimension to his plot. That almost made him laugh.”

Yeah, that’s very funny, but according to this farfetched scenario, there’s a tragic edge as well. David claimed that el-Khazzani was “somebody who was very sick, somebody very weakened physically, as if he suffered from malnutrition, very, very thin and very haggard.” Lo and behold, in this weakened state, no doubt brought on by discrimination from The Man, el-Khazzani (the story goes) found the Kalashnikov and the pistol in a park in Brussels.

Who leaves a Kalashnikov and an automatic pistol unattended in a park, where, wonder of wonders, they can be found by a young man driven by “Islamophobic” discrimination to just enough hunger and desperation to use them? Never mind – according to the story, the find gave el-Khazzani a plan. “A few days later,” said David, “he decided to get on a train that some other homeless people told him would be full of wealthy people traveling from Amsterdam to Paris and he hoped to feed himself by armed robbery.”

A Kalashnikov, an automatic pistol and a box cutter – that certainly puts the “armed” in the “armed robbery,” and suggests that el-Khazzani expected that his relieving the wealthy passengers of their valuables would involve killing quite a few of them. How did he plan to get safely off the train with his loot after all the carnage? And if he was so impoverished, how did he afford the train ticket to Paris in the first place?

Here’s the reality. The Express reported that “a Spanish anti-terrorist official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed El Khazzani had lived in Spain until last year, moved to France then traveled to Syria where he is believed to have trained with ISIS before returning to France.”

And a neighbor recalled: “He and his brother were very devout; they dressed like Afghans and all that, but I can’t believe this. He would sit with us while we smoked joints, you know? He didn’t smoke, but he didn’t mind that we did.” It also turns out that el-Khazzani and his brothers were “regulars” at a local mosque.

So now we have a devout, mosque-attending Muslim who “dressed like an Afghan” and trained in the Islamic State boarding a train armed to the teeth, and opening fire on random non-Muslim passengers, and he is “dumbfounded” to be accused of terrorism?

War is deceit, said Muhammad, and it looks as if Ayoub El Khazzani has taken those words to heart. What is amazing is that anyone would believe this nonsense, but of course the mainstream media is eating it up. More fool the French authorities and the media in the West if they believe him.

In the institution, they used to put a ‘rear naked choke’ on violent residents. Sometimes known as a sleeper hold, called, ‘necking out’ in the institution…Applied properly, it does not cut off air flow as much as blood to the brain…It takes less than 30 seconds, to neck someone out…You drop them when they go limp, otherwise you may kill him…in the institution, the last thing you want to do is kill anyone…a terrorist with weapons on a train has nothing to do with the institution…

      Yes.

i’ve just been reading all about them, in various articles, and they come across as America’s best, what I’d call the *real* America, the one that the pessimists like to bewail as dead and gone.

They’ve been best friends – “mates” as we Aussies would call it – since they were in middle primary in the same – independent, Christian – school, which is where they got to know each other.

I was reading the comments at the bottom of an article about them, and one commenter said, ”

“Out of curiosity, I surfed over to the website of the Freedom Christian School in Sacramento, CA that the 3 young men had gone to.

“At the very bottom of the home page was the quote:

“Freedom is not the ability to do whatever you want,
but the power to do what you ought.”

I would hope that more schools would teach and encourage this way of thinking and acting.”

Looks as though the teachers at that school taught their pupils well….

In one interview with Sadler’s dad, the good pastor says, “They were good kids… “They got into mischief, [but] they always looked after each other.” Skarlatos’ dad says of them they were “so close they are basically brothers,”

Pretty much a team, all playing sport together, playing pretend soldiers together when they were little and not-so-little boys (stuff like paintball). No wonder they basically functioned as a unit, when they met danger. They trusted each other. Blood brothers, so to speak.

You can see that trust reflected in a line from one of the reports – “Sadler said they all heard the sound of the gun and when Alek told Spencer to go, “Spencer just went, no hesitation whatsoever.””

The black guy, Anthony Sadler, is the son of a pastor – not the sort of ‘pastor’ obama sat under, but instead, from the looks of it, a good old-fashioned American black Baptist pastor, heading up the Shiloh Baptist church.. which was having its Annual Choir Day just this Sunday last (23rd)…I saw a picture, and it’s full of big ladies in floral hats and gentlemen in suits. It’s churches like that that will save black America, given half a chance.

Alek Skarlatos’ father Emanuel Skarlatos is Greek American – came to America as a little boy. Skarlatos’ full name is Aleksander. Alexander. Think about it. This Greek American names his boy Alexander, after the great warrior general. Alex Skarlatos has two brothers – one named Peter and one named …Solon, after the Greek lawgiver. I’m assuming he would have been baptised Greek Orthodox. Apparently his longterm ambition is to be a cop, after he finishes with the army…I’d say every metropolitan police force in the USA will be falling over themselves to have him.

Stone is classic Anglo-American; I haven’t found out as much about his family background yet; but his dad, Brian, says he
“wants to pursue a career as a fireman or paramedic.”

They’re America’s best; and I think, more than that, they’re the Best of the West.

It was men like that who, back in the day, joined the Knights of Saint John of Malta, or rode with Jan Sobieski’s winged hussars to Vienna in 1683.

I read about them charging down the corridor to tackle the scungy jihadi, and I hear the echo of one of Chesterton’s poems – “And I heard above bannerets blown the intolerant trumpets of honour/ that echo with iron laughter the coming of Christian arms”.

That was an inspiring post, DDA… Thanks! I especially like this:

“Freedom is not the ability to do whatever you want,
but the power to do what you ought.”

And I too am inspired by the fact that all Spencer and Sadler needed to hear was their mate say “GO” in order to take decisive action. That’s brotherhood!

Thanks for replying DDA. My mates and I have raised several pints over the past few days to these great, humble & strong men, and to France for honoring them and loving them so!

Three all-American Christian guys – one Anglo-American (Stone), one ‘wog’ American (son of a proudly-American Greek immigrant father who named his three sons Peter [i.e Petros], Aleksander, and Solon), and one good old traditional black American, son of a Baptist pastor.

Ah, finally the Muslim’s Standard Operation Procedure that is acted upon when caught in the Act has been documented. This SOP is being memorized by Jihadist, ME Diplomats, MSM and highly by in-denial politicians worldwide:

DARVO is an acronym to describe a common strategy of abusers:

    Deny the abuse

Attack the victim for attempting to make them accountable for their offense

    Reversing

    Victims
    &
    Offender
    roles

This may involve gas lighting and victim blaming.”

Gas lighting: to manipulate someone into questioning their own sanity; to subtly drive someone crazy

Victim blaming: “Blaming the victim describes the attempt to escape responsibility by placing the blame for the crime or other abuse at the hands of the victim.”

This DARVO acronym content has remolded many problematic civic laws worldwide and is doing so, sadly, here in the USA.

“Dumbfounded to Be Accused of Terrorism” is the new phrase coined by the Mohannadism A** Kisser’s!

He’ll use up millions of taxpayer dollars getting free legal aid and playing the legal system to his advantage, he’ll then be locked up and the prison system will cater to his absurd beliefs by providing halal food, handing him korans from a gloved hand, providing a prayer mat and place to bang his head on the floor while he’ll be free to study more from his demonic doctrine and incite hatred and convert other sociopaths in the prison system. He will then be let out at a time in the future and his devout islamic faith will be used as evidence that he has reformed and isn’t a danger to anyone.

You stated, as follows: “How many times have I encountered Counter-Jihad people who insist they personally know Muslims who are “not radicalized” and whom they assure us would not be “that kind of Muslim” who would be a danger or who would enable jihad?”

Okay: how many times, EXACTLY. PRECISELY. Five times, ten times, twenty times?

In this forum? – Names, dates, and the exact precise words that people used. If it *did* happen, I’ll bet you have it copied and filed, in your People To Indict For Insufficient Ideological Purity hit-list.

I’m asking, because I know damn well that in eight years – eight years – of posting here most every day, *I* have never, never, never said anything that could be construed in this manner. And the thing is, I don’t recall *other* people here saying that they knew Muslims – specific people with whom they had dealings at work or elsewhere – whom they were *sure* were not dangerous/ would not enable jihad. Not. one.

So if it wasn’t in this forum, in what other forums – or in what face-to-face conversations with other person who identify as Islamoleery and jihad-aware – have you encountered people who have said that they personally knew Muslims whom they didn’t think were likely to Go Jihad?

You made a very, very sweeping statement, with claimed catch-phrases “not radicalised” and “not that kind of Muslim” (neither of which phrase do I recall being used by any of the regular posters here. So: evidence please. HARD evidence. Actual postings. Or a description of a specific face-to-face conversation with someone you personally know – a friend, relative, workmate, etc – who is at least somewhat informed about Islam (enough to qualify as being involved in “Counter-Jihad”) and who actually used one or both of those two catch-phrases you just mentioned.

It’s a bit more complex than that, DDA. Even if he can produce even one example (which I doubt), unless he can prove that the muslim in question went jihadi all he’s proving is that the people who said what he claims they said are right.

        Aug 25, 2015 at 1:44 pm

By way of analogy, consider a cooperative apartment complex where all the owners (tenants) share a laundry room. Let’s say Paul is one of these tenants who has lived there over 20 years, has been a good (albeit not perfect, duh) neighbor to other tenants. One day in the laundry room he starts up a conversation with one of the tenants (Sandra) he has known for 20 years, and voices a complaint about various newer tenants he’s seen leave their laundry lying around for days.

“How many times have I seen this happen?” Paul asks himself rhetorically as Sandra listens on, folding her socks. “Too many.” Paul answers his own rhetorical question.

Since Sandra knows Paul as a relatively good neighbor who seems fairly unremarkably normal, relatively decent, and reasonably intelligent, she naturally gives his report the benefit of the doubt. And since Paul is not asking her to drop everything and do something radical with this information, but is obviously just proffering it as sobering food for thought about one particular problem, she accepts it as such, nods her head, and deposits it in her memory bank in case future occasions may find it useful (perhaps a Board Meeting down the line; perhaps when she runs into another tenant or two, to relay this piece of information).

It would be remarkably odd, would it not, for her to suddenly whirl around at him and suddenly lay into him with —

“Okay: how many times, EXACTLY. PRECISELY. Five times, ten times, twenty times? In this Cooperatfve? – Names, dates, and the exact precise socks and underwear and towels that people left lying around. If it *did* happen, I’ll bet you have it copied and filed, in your People To Indict For Insufficient Cooperative Purity hit-list.”

Someone else walking by and overhearing this would reasonably conclude there was some “history” going on here — for if not, that lady has an inexplicable bee in her bonnet. One wonders what about that history would warrant such a hostile accusatory tone from a fellow Co-op member. Indeed, “– Names, dates, and the exact precise” reasons for this outburst would be appreciated (though I wouldn’t hold my breath, even with sophisticated scuba gear).

About one thing, however, dumbledoresarmy is (unintentionally) correct: I failed to mention that oftentimes varoius Counter-Jihad people I’ve encountered don’t even have the excuse of adducing flimsy anecdotal evidence of the Muslims they’ve “met” or “known” — they just axiomatically assume (or irresonsibly imply that they assume) the existence of innumerable numbers of harmless Muslims.

The world becomes more patheticer (sic) each day and the excuses more bizarre all the time. I shouldn’t be surprised at any of the sh1t that comes from these peoples mouths and the mouths of their appeasers or apologists!

Wake up people the sun is fast setting!

Yes, I too am dumbfounded but by tangential matters. I was just on the phone with my closest personal friends who live in New York City of all places. We got to taking about this incident in France, and that led to a discussion about Muslims and before long, as I feared, they minimized the “Muslim Problem” and started on orthodox Jews in Israel as representing a greater threat, or something like that—they are themselves full-blooded Jews— and I knew I had to change the subject.
Believe me when I tell you that there are many, many, intelligent folks out there who don’t believe a word Robert or Pamela write or say, but do believe in everything our Muslim-in-Chief and That Woman say, and nothing will suffice to change their mind-sets. Mostly, we, on this site, are preaching to the choir.

Don’t let it get you down.

Go over to “Citizen Warrior”, get their book “Getting Through”, grit your teeth, and carry on.

With people like those you mention, maybe the best you can do is keep it short and sweet. Tell them coolly and calmly that in the canonical Islamic source texts – the Bukhari Hadith I think it is – Mohammed the founder of Islam – *the* ultimate role model for all pious observant Muslims – said, “I have been made victorious by terror”. Then say simply, “Wherever there are Muslims, sooner or later there is Jihad, the struggle to subdue the whole world to Muslim rule and impose the Sharia”. And leave it at that. They will shrug it off at the time, but just maybe it will stick ….like a burr in a sock.

      they’re Jews, eh?

Do they know what Mohammed and his merry men did to the peaceful Jewish farmers of the Khaybar Oasis? To Kinana of Khaybar? To Safiyya, Jewish woman, 17 years old? Or to another Jewish woman, one Rayhana? Or what Mohammed’s assassins did to the brave old Jewish poet, Abu Afak, who dared to criticise Mohammed and Islam?

I could actually believe the story if they would have cut the title at

“Ayoub el-Khazzani, the Muslim gunman who was overpowered by three Americans, including two Marines, on a Paris-bound train last Friday, has gone the media one better by professing to be “dumb.
