It is a staple of the Muslim victimhood industry to complain that Hollywood frequently features Muslim terrorist villains, and seldom depicts Muslims as anything other than terrorists. In reality, can you think of even one major motion picture that featured Islamic terrorists as the villains? In Tom Clancy’s The Sum of All Fears, jihadis were the villains, but when the book was made into a movie, the villains were changed to neo-Nazis.
And can you imagine ABC, or NBC or CBS or anyone else, ever presenting Islam or Muslims in a way that would be genuinely offensive? They would rather dream of doing such a thing, but they don’t hesitate to offend Mormons: they know Mormons won’t kill in response to being offended.
Meanwhile, this show is apparently about the search for the perpetrator of an “inside job” terrorist attack: “ABC’s new show Quantico which premieres tonight will try to unravel the mystery of an FBI ‘inside job’ terrorist attack against New York’s Grand Central Station….The audience is introduced to a number of FBI recruits including main character Alex Parrish, played by Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra. Parrish is framed for the attack and escapes to find out who is really responsible….Other recruits include Mormon Eric Packer, ‘devout’ and mysterious Muslim woman Nimah Amin, openly gay Simon Asher who comes from a ‘Zionist’ Jewish family and Southern belle markswoman Shelby Wyatt whose parents were killed on 9/11. (Southern, pro-gun and a 9/11 victim. Hollywood just loves all those, so mark her down as a likely suspect.)”
Assuming that one or more of these recruits was involved in the “inside job” terror attack, there is absolutely no chance whatsoever that it will be the “‘devout’ and mysterious Muslim woman Nimah Amin” — she will probably turn out to be the heroine. The gay character could never be the villain, although the fact that he is a Zionist does put him in the running; however, Newsbusters is probably right that “Southern belle markswoman Shelby Wyatt whose parents were killed on 9/11” will almost certainly be the terrorist. One thing Leftist Hollywood isn’t is subtle.
“ABC’s ‘Quantico’ Tackles Terrorism, Offends Mormons in Series Premiere,” by Julia A. Seymour, NewsBusters, September 27, 2015:
As radical Muslims wage jihad around the world and plot against Western nations including the U.S., ABC’s new show Quantico which premieres tonight will try to unravel the mystery of an FBI “inside job” terrorist attack against New York’s Grand Central Station.
As it flashes back and forth from the start of FBI training to the aftermath of “the most devastating terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11.” The audience is introduced to a number of FBI recruits including main character Alex Parrish, played by Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra.
Parrish is framed for the attack and escapes to find out who is really responsible. Chopra described her character as a “female Jason Bourne,” according to The Wrap….
Other recruits include Mormon Eric Packer, “devout” and mysterious Muslim woman Nimah Amin, openly gay Simon Asher who comes from a “Zionist” Jewish family and Southern belle markswoman Shelby Wyatt whose parents were killed on 9/11. (Southern, pro-gun and a 9/11 victim. Hollywood just loves all those, so mark her down as a likely suspect.)
One subplot revealed in the premiere already offended members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. An ABC affiliate in Salt Lake City pointed out on Sept. 25, that the episode “presents an inaccurate, and to some, offensive portrayal of the LDS faith.” An early release of the show upset Mormons according to an August article in The Salt Lake Tribune because they learned the Mormon character, Packer, would be shown in his underwear.
“Faithful Mormons consider temple garments sacred, and many find it offensive when they are displayed publicly — let alone as a plot point in a TV drama,” Scott D. Pierce wrote for The Tribune. Pierce also pointed out that the Mormon FBI recruit is also a “huge hypocrite.”…

There were several Mormon classmates in my high school. In a chat with one of them, he revealed that alcohol, coffee, and tea were never used by the LDS faithful.
That stunning admission of not using the legal addictives we Westerners cannot live without foretold in my young mind the terrorism we see in this remarkable program.

Mormons of my acquaintance are one screwed up bunch. They believe some strange things. There is a great deal of acting out by teenagers which bely great problems, but what can one expect with an American made “religion” that compels members to believe in Joe Smith as a prophet. The only “prophet” in Mormonism comes from the tithing that members are required to pay into the coffers, but which is not accountable to anyone. Read some of the books on Mormonism. They will open your eyes.
Danyelle grund says
Actually WE Mormon’s don’t believe weird things! We pay tithing and there is nothing wrong with that Tithing! Joseph Smith was a prophet he was called of God to serve. Also not all books tell you the truth! Maybe you should talk to some missionaries before you assume something! Very correct we don’t drink coffee or alcohol if you read the Doctrine and Covenants it’s against our religion!
Bamaguje says
Well… Mormons aren’t likely to blow up ABC studios, or behead ‘Quantico’ producers.
Ric says
Exactly! Hollywood, the entertainment world generally, Is fearful of offending Islam. Hence, Christians, Jews and all those diverse from Islam are a fair target. Gutless but not surprising, Quantico will hopefully die in the ratings game. I, for one, will not watch this Islamic apologist production.
tom says
Ummmm, did you watch the show? There’s one Muslim on the show (or maybe 2, cause they’re twinsies), and she is not the main character. And shows like this do their best in offending any mainstream religion, stop thinking they have it out for yours.

Do you consider Act of Valor a “major motion picture”?
Don McKellar says
It was a “small” picture by independents, not corporate Hollywood. A 12 million budget. The average corporate Hollywood movie is what — 50 million? Or is it more like 100 million? Something like that. So not a “major motion picture” by corporate Hollywood standards. That’s not to say it wasn’t successful in making a profit. 12 million movie grossing 80 some million is excellent.
Donovan Nuera says
Some of the actors in the movie were actual US SEALs. The best part was they insisted on shooting live ammo from their Dillon mini-guns during the scenes rather than rely on cheesy CGI. The last best and accurate use of muslim terrorists was “True Lies” with Schwartzennegger in 1993. (Perhaps the terrorists will use the plot to smuggle a nuke into Port Canaveral, FL since our illustrious State Dept. just signed a 30-year lease over to a Dubai firm (Gulftainer) that already has been accused of smuggling weapons to Shi’ite mob leader Mookie Sadr during the Iraq War and to Hamas in Gaza.)

I remember TRUE LIES with the mad dog moslem jihadis. At that time they were obvious easy to pin down villains to portray in a movie. Just like a Nazi, you show them on the screen and you know what they’re all about. But True Lies was made back in 1994. Since Sept 11th, 2001, the subject matter has been made almost VERBOTEN! by the powers that be. Kind of an interesting correlation. Mad dog Islamic jihadis portrayed as they are in Hollywood movies: very few terror attacks on the United States. Mad dog Islamic jihadis made VERBOTEN! by the powers that be: endless terror attacks and would be terror attacks on the United States.

Sad when you know what’s coming from a series like “Quantico” the moment you see the first shot of a female recruit in hijab. “Devout”, no less. Just the kind of recruit today’s PC-whipped FBI would fall all over itself to welcome.
My money is on the Mormon. Granted a Southern woman orphaned by Muslim jihadists on 9/11/01 might be considered he perfect villain by ABC, but perhaps even they aren’t ready to go that far with an attack on a NYC landmark. If they are, we can write them off as the moral equivalent of the zombies from “The Walking Dead”.

“In reality, can you think of even one major motion picture that featured Islamic terrorists as the villains?”
Not only is there a near total blackout in Hollywood movies on Muslim terrorists, but also in various TV shows that feature plots relevant to terrorism. Examples: the UK hit, MI-5 — an excellent show otherwise, which I kept watching season after season to note how its plots sought every source of terrorism under the sun except Islamic — IRA, Slavic criminal gangs, shadowy French or American businessmen, eco-terrorists, and, of course, the Tom Clancy staple, the Soviet Union Energizer Rabbit that keeps on running long after the fall of Communism in the form of ex-KGB. One show at the beginning gave me a glimmer of hope — it was about a cell of Turkish terrorists… then it turned out they were not even “Islamists” but were members of the “far right” supposedly secular (in the Baathist sense) Grey Wolves group. At the beginning of season 5, I finally had to put myself out of my misery by hitting eject on my DVD when the plot involved the head of MI-5 being kidnapped by a terror cell ostensibly Islamic — then the ringleader tells his captive strapped to a chair in duct-tape: “I am a Hindu — I only pretended to be Islamic to fool your intelligence…” In five years of that show (and midway through those 5 years real life hit in the form of the Tube bombing), they only had one episode involving actual Muslim terrorists — but of course that show had lots of anxiously careful padding in the script in the form of Moderate Muslim characters conscientiously assisting MI-5 catch the Tiny Minority of Extremists…
Then there was another excellent show, The Unit (2006-2009; creator, David Mamet). The show was about a tight-knit unit of highly-trained secret ops soldiers who go on secret missions to clean up various messes, taking them all over the world. In this latest season, there has been a plot thread running through most of the shows involving a shadowy organization that is trying to plot horrific attacks on Americans.
In one of the shows, this nefarious organization already tested a chemical WMD on a small American community, killing many people in the process. Subsequent episodes reveal that they are dangerously close to acquiring a suitcase nuke and plan on detonating it in Washington, D.C. And what kinds of people comprise this deadly terrorist cell? Muslims? Of course not! All of them are Anglo-Saxon whites, and some of them are part of a wing of Aryan-type white power racists. The terrorists also have help from a network of rogue Russians—leading the show during one or two episodes to the preposterously anachronistic spectacle of perilous cloak-and-dagger against Russians as though we were back to the Cold War days. I think once in passing I detected a fleeting mention or two of some operative who had a Muslim name—probably just thrown in there for spice, certainly depicted as pawns in the larger terrorist game (as in the famous show 24).
In another episode, the unit sergeant (played by Dennis Haysbert, the actor who played the first black President of the USA on 24), in his quest to save his own kidnapped daughter, takes a mosque in Syria hostage in order to force them to tell him where political prisoners and kidnap victims are normally sequestered in Damascus. When he gets the information he needs, he takes one of the hostages, a Muslim cleric, with him to ensure that he can complete his mission to infiltrate the mental hospital where prisoners are kept—and it is explicitly mentioned, tortured—so he can rescue his daughter. At one point, when he no longer needs the cleric, he lets the cleric go and even hands him his rifle. The cleric looks at the sergeant and says, “You trust me…?” The sergeant responds, brimming with PC MC self-righteousness: “You are a man of God: I know you won’t harm me.” I think at that point I lost my dinner.
Speaking of 24 (2001-2010) — that show put itself on the map as a blockbuster juggernaut of a show when in its earlier seasons it dealt more directly and more thoroughly than any other TV show before (or since) with Islamic terrorism. It then revisited that in its sixth season. In the first arc of shows dealing with Islamic terrorism, it turned out that the Muslim terrorists were just pawns in a plot by a nefarious cabal of, of course, non-Muslim white globalist billionaires (and famously, CAIR put pressure on the show, forcing its star, Kiefer Sutherland, to tape short televised appeals to the audience, aired seconds before the show started each week, anxiously assuring viewers that 24:
“Hi. My name is Kiefer Sutherland and I play counter-terrorist agent Jack Bauer on Fox’s “24”. I would like to take a moment to talk to you about something that I think is very important. Now while terrorism is obviously one of the most critical challenges facing our nation and the world, it is important to recognize that the American Muslim community stands firm ly beside their fellow Americans in denouncing and resisting all forms of terrorism. So in watching “24”, please, bear that in mind. ”
(Amusingly, I found an analysis online — Portrayal of Muslims in the media:
“24” and the ‘Othering’ process by Abu Sadat Nurullah — bitching and moaning about 24 in its supposedly bigoted bias against Muslim stereotypes; indicating not that the show actually had such a rational bias, but that Muslims and PC MCs are disconnected from reality.)
In the second arc of shows dealing with Islamic terrorism (i.e., ultimately avoiding Islamic terrorism in the plot), this time with a female President of the United States at the helm instead of a black President, there unfolds a dastardly plot to mass-murder Americans. The first few episodes lead the viewer to believe that a renegade black African guerilla leader is behind this plot. His motivation for the most part seems to be that America has been supporting with money and arms the government of the African nation he wants to take over as dictator. Of course, none of the black Africans are Muslims, reflecting the common myopia Westerners have about the massively destabilizing and deleterious role that Muslims—both black African themselves as well as Arab—have played throughout Africa not only in our time but for centuries going back to at least the 8th century, centuries before Western Colonialists were even in diapers. But starting the show off with a bang with black African terrorists gives the show the deceptive appearance of being boldly politically incorrect.
As the plot unfolds further in subsequent episodes, it becomes clear that these black African rogue terrorists, while depicted as evil themselves (e.g., willing to use a chemical WMD against their own people as an experiment to fine-tune its effectiveness), were really just pawns of a shadowy cabal comprised totally of evil white businessmen and politicians, headed by Jonas Hodges, a character played by actor Jon Voight. Hodges is depicted as a patriotic American who has created an organization of well-trained mercenaries to help the U.S. military around the world, with the motive to protect American interests. His motive for mass-murdering fellow Americans in terrorist attacks that will be mistakenly attributed to non-Americans (such as the black African rebel leader) becomes clear: he has a neo-con view of the American government being too liberal and weak in the face of growing terrorist dangers, and so he wants to provoke that liberal government and its intelligentsia into becoming more militarily hawk-like through the horror of several actual massive attacks on American citizens. This motive of his not only has the amorphous expectation that the liberal government will become tougher, but the more concrete expectation that once they do get tougher, they will be more eager and willing to avail themselves of his help and the use of his organization of mercenaries, which he wants the government to integrate into its policy-making procedures (as is revealed in one tête-à-tête he has with the “Madame President” where, after his complicity has become known, he tries to extort her with the implicit threat of the WMD attacks).
Thus, what is being telegraphed here by the writers of 24 is that the danger of powerful white neo-cons like Jonas Hodges who would deploy a terrorist attack against America—themselves motivated by a fear of terrorism against America (read between the lines, Islamic terrorism)—is a more exigent possibility and threat than Islamic terrorism.

David Mamet should hang his head in shame — he knows better. See his 2011 book “The Secret Knowledge” in which he observes that, “The Liberal attitude to our war with Radical Islam is a preference for that action which would end the conflict immediately, and without rancor. That action, unfortunately, is surrender.”
Of course, that was a couple of years after “The Unit”, so maybe Mamet didn’t learn the score until after the fact. After all, 2006 was a mere 5 years after 9/11 and he hadn’t yet awakened to the fact that “…the military threat to the West has a name, and that name is Islamic Fascism…” or recognized the proposed 13-story Islamic Center that was to be built two blocks north of Ground Zero as “…a cultural obscenity…”.
voegelinian says
Well, I’ve become highly skeptical of people claiming to have wised up to the problem of terrorism. One has to watch out for red flags indicating they haven’t really advanced as far as they claim to. The red flag here is Mamet’s term “Radical Islam”, indicating that he hasn’t weaned himself away from his infantile dependency on the TMOE meme (the Tiny Minority of Extremists who are twisting Islam is the problem — not Islam and not Muslims). One way for such types to claim to be no-nonsense, robustly tough analysts of the problem is to adjust the “Tiny” so that it seems somewhat larger (but still remains small enough to spare the analyst from the grief and anxiety of having to condemn multitudes of nice Brown People (as he would see Muslims — I add parenthetically, in anticipation of the obtuse Bugs Bunny of Jihad Watch, Angemon), thus assuaging and protecting his ethical narcissism).

Denis MacEoin performs a subtle sleight-of-hand here, when he says “into the 20th century” — thus eliding two distinct problems — 19th century Mormon violence, and violence committed in the 20th century by a minority among an already sectarian minority offshoot of the mainstream Mormon church — into one that is supposed to be a reasonable objection to the perfectly and massively factual claim which Robert Spencer wrote, that “Mormons won’t kill in response to being offended.” Notice the present tense of Spencer’s reasonable claim. Compare what Mormons have done in the past 100 years (not counting the sectarian offshoots condemned by the Mormon mainstream church) to what Muslims have done in the past 15 years — fuck, just compared to one motherfucking, beautifully sunny September day in 2001 for fuck sake.

In 1997, HBO produced a made-for-TV movie about the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. That movie, entitled “Path to Paradise,” is a superb depiction of the events germane to that bombing. The primary FBI agent is John Anticev, who I met and discussed details with at a terrorism seminar ten years after the event. Aired long before the politically correct, religion-of-peace narrative became the norm, the movie is accurate. While I have the DVD, the entire movie may be viewed at the following link:

This is all reminiscent of a show from over 10 years ago called E-Ring (a section of the Pentagon), where one episode involved the seizing of a Dearborn, Michigan mosque by ‘Christian Extremists’ who hold the Muslim worshippers inside hostage and must be saved by the show’s Federal agent heroes. The lengths Hollywood goes to portray Muslims as benign or as heroic and Christians and white people is beyond asinine.
