Jihad Watch

Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Australia: Cops have kept 116 jihadis from going abroad since July

Sep 12, 2015 1:58 pm By Robert Spencer

What are they doing to ensure that they will not try to wage jihad at home?

jake_bilardi

“Counter-terrorism police have prevented 116 suspicious passengers from travelling overseas since July,” Renee Viellaris, The Courier-Mail, September 12, 2015:

AN INCREASING number of wannabe jihadists have been nabbed at Australian airports with terror tool kits that include DIY bomb-making gear.

Threats of bigger jail sentences, being stripped of dual citizenship, and expanded RAAF air strikes against ISIS in Syria are failing to deter Australian traitors from fighting in the Middle East.

Authorities are also considering new laws to force jihadi teenagers as young as 14 to wear tracking devices to prevent an imminent terrorist attack in Australia under a new wave of anti-terror laws.

Since July, counter-terrorism police have pounced on 116 suspicious passengers, some booted off international flights just before take-off. From July 2014 to June 2015, 336 suspicious passengers – about six a week – were prevented from flying out of Australia. Now there are about 10 a week.

War-zone specific first-aid kits are being found on suspicious travellers, along with items from a “terror shopping list”, including doorbells and door-stop alarms. It is understood that doorbells and door-stop alarms can be used to make deadly improvised explosive devices.

Counter-terrorism units have also detected about $4 million in undeclared currency in just 11 weeks. Some of the passengers have been fined, had their passports suspended or cancelled, and some are the subject of ongoing counter-terrorism investigations.

Last month, counter-terrorism units stopped seven young men from leaving Australia. Five heading to the Middle East were carrying large amounts of cash and tried to board another flight the next day….

The Sunday Mail can reveal that the Australian Federal Police is in talks with the Government amid concerns terror groups are increasingly targeting children and teenagers as “cannon fodder’’ for ISIS. Under existing laws, control orders cannot apply to children under 16 years old. Unlike 18 year olds, the control orders for minors only apply for three months, not 12.

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton warned that foreign fighters were unlikely to survive overseas.

“My message to those who are considering leaving Australia to fight with Daesh is simple: don’t go,” he said.

“If you try, we’ll almost certainly catch you; if you make it there, you’re unlikely to come back alive. And if you do get back, you will be prosecuted and jailed.”

I still have never heard a logical explanation as to why it is authorities prevent terrorists from leaving the country to go fight for ISIS or any of the other Muslim groups but then let them loose on the public. Where are the laws which make these immediate felony offenses carrying a mandatory 30 year sentence? And while in prison, not a single one of them should get a copy of the Koran or get special Islam privileges…we wouldn’t give a neo-Nazi prisoner a taxpayer supplied copy of Mein Kampf, give them areas and time slots to broadcast their murderous, supremacist ideology, let in neo-Nazi counselors to discuss their ideology with the neo-Nazi prisoners….why do we give these murderous Muslim barbarians their marching orders in the form of the Koran, space and time to broadcast their murderous, supremacist ideology, even bring in taxpayer provided Imams to discuss more of that murderous, supremacist ideology. We have imbeciles in charge when they do not see these parallels.

Would we be so quick to bend over backwards for any other group?
Let’s say Hindus become violent and want to wage jihad on us or Buddhist or any ethnic group living here. Would we be as tolerant to them?
I don;t think we would so there has to be a reason why we tolerate Islam this much.
My opinion is that the west wants Islam to rule because that’s the most efficient vehicle by which we can dominate the masses. Everything else has failed. The elites want total world domination and Islam has proven to be the best so far.

Good ideas. If fighting for ISIS is not “islamic”, then those who wish to do that should not be treated as Muslim. No Qu’ran, no prayer rugs, no arrows to Mecca, no halal meals.

Just 30 years + in prison, and some deprogramming.

…de-programming and/or re-hab usually doesnt work…the saudis have spent millions on it and even they havent managed to get a decent rate of success…

…although admittedly, one has to wonder if they were actually trying very hard…

…as for the 30yrs in prison…is there any reason we can’t out them in chemically-induced comas…? …it may not be all that much ‘PC’, but if they are going to be away for decades, can we not at least save some money?!?!

…as for ‘they are not muslims so they dont get korans’…bravo! :0D

Nazism was seen as a political ideology. Islam is recognized as a legitimate religion, and the government isn’t supposed to interfere with religion.

Given that Islam is held to be a legitimate, long-established religion, and it’s followed by about a quarter of the world population, it’s a sticky problem to restrict it in ways that other religions are not restricted in prison. A big political problem.

As to keeping jihadists from going overseas, I understand why the authorities do that – there’s a moral obligation not to allow more killers loose on the innocent people of Syria and Iraq. People with jihadi intentions should be stopped when they are discovered. Also, would you want such a person on your plane? What if their mission isn’t to make it to the destination but to cause mayhem on your plane?

What I object to is when they’re let loose with nothing more than a year’s detention or a tracking ankle bracelet. Do the authorities think that in a year’s time the motivation to do jihad will evaporate – that it’s just a teen whim? Do they think that a kid who aims to die in jihad is so fearful of getting caught disobeying the law that he would risk cutting off or destroying his tracker before riding off into hiding with a buddy?

A kid that’s aiming for a life of jihad isn’t afraid of the police. He’s swallowed the idea that if he dies in jihad mode, he’s going to Paradise.

But I think the trouble is that law enforcement has to follow the laws, and the laws haven’t caught up with the problem. How long can you put a person away for if they haven’t hurt anybody yet?

Before the police and courts can do what needs to be done, the lawmakers have to understand and make laws appropriate to the situation, and those laws have to accord with the Constitution as well.

All of that has to be worked out and done before law enforcement can do what needs doing.

The reason is that governments have an obligation to prevent their citizens from travelling to other countries and raping, robbing and killing the citizens of that country, even if that country is Islamic.

If these clowns were headed off for Jihad in the US or UK don’t you expect that the governments of those countries would like the Australian government to stop them?

It would be great if we could just ship our troublemakers overseas never to return, but that isn’t how the world works.

You mean, even if the authorities know someone is headed to jihad, they should allow that person to add himself to the strength of the Islamic State? Should all the hundreds and thousands of jihadis travelling to the ME be allowed to make IS stronger to be able to rape, torture, enslave and murder more non-Muslims? Shouldn’t the law stop them from making the enemy stronger when it can?

The right thing to do is to stop them from going there AND to stop them from being able to carry out their mission here, as well.

Sure, we should let them all go. Maybe even pay for their tickets! Enable the Islamic State to have so many soldiers that they can spread out even further in the region, destroy the lives of even more non-Muslims, and send even more waves of refugees into the world.

The *only * result of this will be a bunch of resentful jihadists, who, instead of carrying out their murderous intents against their fellow evil murderers in Syria/the ME, will be a bunch of resentful, murdering jihadists who will proceed to plot and plan how to murder innocent Australians.

The governments of the West are intent on preventing jihadist murderers from going to their spiritual home to murder there; instead they prefer to keep them in the countries they have infested, like so many cuckoos, intent on destroying the parent birds nest, and murdering all iits chicks.

And Western governments, leftard luvvie fools, and, God help us all, a significant proportion of ordinary people, are pushing and pulling to allow even *more* of these evil monsters into the West, because they pretend to be ‘refugees’.

You know, I can’t even listen to this utterly evil, stupid, suicidal *crap* any longer; my blood pressure goes through the roof, and my husband keeps intoning, “calm down sweetheart, you can’t change the minds of fools”.

What he SHOULD have said, “My message to those who are considering leaving Australia to fight with Dash is simple: go, by all means.
“And when you do, once we know for sure you’ve gone and that you are with the beheaders, rapists and slave-traders of Islamic State, then we will make sure that you are never, never, never able to come back into this country.”

Or perhaps he should just have told them to go – the sooner the better.
And added, under his breath, the other bit about making damn sure they will never be able to get back in, once we’ve determined that they really, really *have* p*ssed off to join the Beheaders. Let’s not tell them that we will be annulling their residency, or their citizenship, and those Aussie passports that they utterly despise but regard as a tactical and temporary convenience.

Just think: if instead of stopping these 116 murder-minded Mohammedan mobsters, we had let them go, some of them might have been dead by now, disposed of by Kurdish Muslims who don’t want to live under Arab Muslim rule, or by Alawites who don’t want to live under Sunni Muslim rule, or by Shiites, ditto. And even if they didn’t get dead, we should have made sure their aussie passports and residency or citizenship …evaporated. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Better out than in.

Seconding EYESOPEN, dda, I agree. But it’s just like the current crop of Western elites in whatever Western nation to go about things ass-backwards where Islam is concerned, proving yet again that willful ignorance of evil is actually worse than evil itself.

Hope you and yours are doing well, dda. I will never cease fighting the supremacist and horrible ideology which is Islam but it does get exasperating at times that so many Western elites continue to shill for this wretched religion which would destroy the best which the West has pioneered if only it is given the chance. Unfortunately (and stupidly), “it” has been given the chance time and time and time again, courtesy of the woeful bunch of fools and idiots who now comprise the Western elites. Mad world indeed.

    • Diana says

      Sep 12, 2015 at 10:36 pm

DDA, there are two problems with your proposed alternative.

      (1) How did the officials KNOW those 116 jihadists were jihadists until they caught them at the airport and found the evidence? Those who slipped under the radar and went to the Middle East anyway can’t be PROVED to be enemy. We don’t KNOW whose passports to cancel.

      (2) Do you really want CHILDREN to be treated with the same sternness as adult criminals? The law needs to be changed so that children under 16 can be prevented from threatening society. But is it really right to send them to their deaths? Juvenile delinquents deserve a second chance. I’m not disputing that sending them back to the same families, peers, mosques and internet privileges is the wrong kind of “second chance”. But can we really do no better for our teenagers than issue them with one-way tickets to Hell?

    • Angemon says

      Sep 12, 2015 at 11:01 pm

Indeed, DDA. The first obligation of a leader is to with his/her people and country, and those jailed jihadis won’t cease being a threat to Australia and Australians after doing their stint in jail (possibly enjoying special benefits).

I can’t approve the idea of letting jihadis go to the Islamic State to strengthen the enemy and allow them to spread their evil further.

But I also can’t approve of letting these people run loose.

Our lawmakers need to look at the situation as the deadly threat that it is and make laws accordingly. If a person is old enough to decide to join a jihadist organization and fight with a group that proclaims that it wants to overthrow all the non-Muslim governments of the world and replace them with the Caliphate, then you’re old enough to be punished as an adult traitor that is a threat to his or her country (either death or life in prison – and no prison dawa allowed).

And once that is made law, it should be publicized constantly and prominently.

Yes, it would cause a big political uproar. Let it.

Until our lawmakers face the realities of Islam and jihad and the mind-set of those who go to fight, they aren’t going to make or enforce tough laws against these people and protect us from jihad. Our defense is going to be inadequate until all jihadist citizens are treated like the traitors in wartime that they are, including the teenagers and young adults who make up the majority of our jihadists.

I don’t know why people keep asking “Why they don’t let them go?” The answers are obvious…

    1. You are failing to deal with the issue. You are just dumping it off on someone else. These people will help recruit others, murder Christians, fight Kurds, kill Syria soldiers, fund these people, and otherwise help ISIS stay in power. Imagine if the Kurds said… “Well… as long as you are going to Australia to kill them… fine we won’t try to stop you.”

    2. You are now allowing this person to go get military-style training, resources, information, etc. and potentially return. Having to track someone after they leave the country and prevent them from coming back is difficult. Canceling passports won’t stop even semi-determined people. Entering on a fake or another passport is easy — especially if you speak English with an Aussie accent and know the country well.

    3. You are admitting you won’t solve the issue. We can’t just make it a 10+ year crime, arrest, and convict these people to keep people safe, so we’ll just let them go and hope they don’t come back.

Countries need the will to deal with their own problems. This means putting people in jail for decades if necessary.
