So apparently in Shepard Smith’s ideal world, we have both gay marriage and Sharia. What will Shep says when supporters of Sharia start throwing gays off of tall buildings, as they do in the Islamic State, and in accord with Sharia? Will he continue to deny reality and find some new way to blame “right-wing extremists”?
“Fox’s Shepard Smith rips Christian ‘haters’ who support Kim Davis,” by Cheryl Chumley, WND, September 9, 2015:
Shepard Smith, Fox News host, cut into his own press conference coverage of the release of Kentucky clerk Kim Davis from jail to rail against her, as well as those who supported her denial of wedding certificates to same-sex couples, saying such is simply a “religious play” that has no business in government service.
He also compared Kim Davis supporters to those who oppose Sharia law, characterizing them as one and the same when it comes to ideology.
“They set this up as a religious play again,” Smith said, Mediaite reported. “This is the same crowd that says, ‘We don’t want Sharia law,’ don’t let them tell us what to do, keep their religion out of our lives and out of our government.’ Well, here we go again.”
“Outlasting the Gay Revolution” spells out eight principles to help Americans with conservative moral values counter attacks on our freedoms of religion, speech and conscience by homosexual activists
An obviously frustrated Smith then described the progression of Davis’s case as a mish-mash of confusing legal pursuits.
“When this started, this lawyer said he needed an accommodation for a woman who wanted one,” Smith said. “She said she didn’t want her name on a license for “gay” people. Now they’ve come up with one, they’ve let her out of jail … But it’s not what they want.”
Rather, he said, “they” now want to pursue new claims against gay marriage.
“This is what they want, what you’re hearing now, and this [is] what they’re going to get: stirred up argument and a couple of days in the news cycle, and they’re going to be able to make these claims.”…

Don McKellar says
Boy, was that ever an idiotic comparison to make. He should back up from that.
However, this clerk is abusing her public secular government job and needs to be removed immediately. She should have been honorable and resigned if she really couldn’t deal with it. She is entrusted with and sworn to carry through with the laws of the land and her religious beliefs do not veto the laws of America and or state that she does not like. If they do, then America does not have a functional representative democratic republic anymore.
J says
We no longer have a “functional representative democratic republic” in the US anymore. When the left can’t get what it wants using the democratic process, either the presidant acts by fiat or the courts find bizarre new “rights” and “penumbras” to make it so.

Couldn’t agree with you more Don McKellar. You can’t lump those supporting Davis with those opposed to Sharia Law. Makes no sense. I’m completely opposed to Sharia and equally against Davis continuing to be paid for a job she’s not doing. I support the Muslim flight attendant’s suspension for refusing to serve alcohol as part of her job. Seems fair to me As I see it, Davis is guilty of doing the same thing.. expecting accommodation for her religious beliefs. I suggest they both start exploring other employment options.

Just remember, when the Islamic Jihad is in full view and entering stage three, they’ll be coming after left wing rainbow jihadists first. I won’t be concerned with that………..so be it.
The Islamic Jihadists won’t have sympathy for your moral equivalence of treating Christianity and Islam on an equivalent basis.
To Robert: if you’re going to delete my comment for being provocative toward the rainbow jihadists as they try and steer off topic, then please be consistent and delete ALL of their crap.

Sorry, Don, but I’m sick and tired of Leftists getting away with flouting laws they don’t like and then expecting conservatives to be the obey the law whatever–even when it demands that you be the cook at a cannibal feast where you’re the main course. The Mayor of San Francisco killed popularly voted Proposition 8 with Federal support.
A whole slough of “rights” found in the penumbras of the Constitution are slowly being allowed to destroy those found in the clear text. A right not to be offended and legitimizing “hate speech” codes will be used to curb legitimate free speech. Judges who would never dream of finding a halal caterer guilty of discrimination against pork-eaters when he refuses to do a whole hog for someone’s BBQ will claim to look into the hearts of love-the-sinner-hate-the-sin Christian florists and photographers to see “only bigotry and hatred”. And now, to affirm the “rights” of the sexual deviant, we will probably have to turn a blind eye to adopted or farmed-out children (surrogate motherhood; in vitro) placed in “gay” households who get abused.
And, yes, I am one who objects both to same-sex marriage and to Shariah law. Let Shepard Smith think ill of me. If it finally comes to open rebellion against this corrupt, self-destructive political class who now want both unlimited sexual perversion and Sharia, I’m signing on to the rebellion. We must obey God rather than men.
Karl says
“We must obey God rather than men.”
This is what Islamists say. It’s easy to equate you Christians to the Taliban. It’s like Democrats and Republicans, two sides of the same coin.
Kepha says
Karl, you need to distinguish Christian and Muslim beliefs. And before you start feeling too lofty, evolutionary materialists killed more people in the names of social justice, nation, progress, liberation and the like than suffered for the wrong kind of Christianity or none at all in the 15 centuries between the conversion of Constantine and Napoleon’s shutting down the Spanish Inquisition.
Karl says
Kepha,
You need to realize that we live in a secular democratic republic and that we aren’t living in the 4th Century.
Jay Boo says
The rotten stink of false equivalence.
Karl is under the illusion that by attacking Christianity n particular it will lift up Islam to equal status. That is what Muhammad tried to do even as he attempted to use the name of Jesus as his personal stepping stone to a claim at being a prophet.
But Muhammad was a disgraceful impulsive pig without any scruples.
It must be politically awkward to criticize Islam in certain circles without tossing out a mandatory jab at Christianity to appease the crowd.
Karl says
No. Islam is much worse than Christianity right now. I was just pointing out Kepha’s over the top comment on how Kepha thinks that we should honor God’s law above that of our country. This is just the same as the Islamists do. So Kepha is acting as a Christian Taliban member.

Mr. Smith might have some problems there with his (alleged) lifestyle, which doesn’t stop him from castigating the one place in the Middle East he’d be safe, Israel, at every opportunity, and trumpeting the cause of the “Palestinians.” Here is what he decided to tweet after the Chattanooga murders:
“The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim civil rights organization in US, condemns #Chattanooga shooting.”
Does that not demonstrate the brains at work here? Smith’s kneejerk reaction to the Charlie Hebdo murders was this: “To call the kind of religious extremists who are doing this sort of thing Muslim seems way out there, any more than guy who blew up the federal building in Oklahoma might be considered a Christian.”
At least he is consistent.
Western Canadian says

Karl,
Are you claiming straight marriage is an artificial construct?
That part of the argument might hold some secular bearing.
Yet, your scatter shot of equivalence ignores “redefined relativist “.
Let’s be honest. Marriage by definition is between opposite sexes.
If gay people want to call their union ‘gay’ marriage as opposed to just marriage, or invent a whole new term, then that would be more honest.

Kim Davis was thus in full compliance with the US Supreme Court by not issuing any marriage licenses, notwithstanding the uselessness of her religious arguments and the talking heads that say that it is unlawful not to issue marriage licenses.
No one dares to be called a bigot so they lie, either wittingly or unwittingly. They fearfully misread the court’s clear opinion, just as they misread the inherent horrors found in Islam texts. The tool of personal attack and vilification wins again.

Watching the news conference on CNN, of Kentucky clerk Kim Davis and her husband with jean bids and straw hat,I first thought CNN arranged this event and it seemed to be a “home run” for Shepard to criticize, it had a peculiar feel almost storybook appearance. Of course with an Republican supporter standing by to support her claims I found it very curious.
Maybe if the documents for “marriage” would leave the word” marriage” off, and present it as a contractual agreement between partners, for all combinations of sexes we could have a more honest idea what the “marriage license really is nothing more than legal rights(from the states) to assets etc. Leave marriage to churches… and leave the religious ideas alone, and churches can follow their beliefs as long as they do not subscribe to violence, terror and hate.
underbed cat says
I mean to write “legal contract law” devoid of the word marriage, but partnerships which is really how government sees marriage anyway in my opinon. Many states offer that all ready, legal rights.
RG says
Mrs. Davis was elected by her local constituents to issue marriage contracts between ‘one man and one woman’. She has no legal or moral obligation to honor any aberration or other alteration which she deems immoral! Next, the pedophiles, bigamists and the incestuous will be demanding equal recognition to marry underage minors and members of their immediate families (muslims already think they have a right to do so)! Morality is not a relative thing, as all of ancient history up to the present day will attest! Just because some Johnny-come-lately decides to rewrite the laws of the land, does not necessarily make it right! Homosexuality is forbidden by a Higher Law and our grandparents must be turning over in their graves to see the depravity of their descendants!
Wellington says
This entire mess could have been avoided in the first place if the United States Supreme Court had not substituted the secular/progressive ethic for the Judeo-Christian ethic (which one has to do to conclude that gay marriage should exist). One doesn’t have to be religious to grasp that the latter ethic, which has guided America from its inception until very recently, is a far wiser one than the former ethic which is replete with relativistic and even totalitarian elements (e.g., hate speech codes on college campuses). Shepard Smith cluelessly couldn’t 1) separate religion from ethics; 2) distinguish between an enlightened religion like Christianity which works wonderfully well with democratic tenets from the spiritual fascism which is Islam and which is a mortal enemy of true democracy.
Increasingly in this silly age in which we live, people more and more demonstrate a capacity to not be able to think things through. Just look at the present occupant in the Oval Office who in 2008 said he wanted to “fundamentally transform” America even though America did not need to be fundamentally transformed. For that matter, neither did marriage. Gays could have been given all kinds of rights by way of domestic partnerships and marriage could have remained confined, as it should have been, to one man and one woman. But this is what can happen when the stupid secular/progressive ethic is substituted for a far wiser ethic which until very recently has infused America and so many other Western nations. Yes indeed, the Age of Nonsense marches on and Shepard Smith is “merely” a symptom of this.
Jay Boo says

I can’t help but wonder if the ‘progressives’ would be as assertive if Kim Davis had been a Muslim instead of a conservative Christian.

Many of the muslims who are all for the imposition have been on FOX and are likely familiar with Smith and his proclivities that are all in disagreement with their own.
He might want to investigate before he makes the comparison. Christians haven’t even threatened him with violence or expressed any hate for him. On the other hand…
But, alas, his hatred colors his thinking too much to reason it out and he is too stubborn to listen to those with whom he disagrees. Therefore, he is likely to keep on saying stupid things to whatever audience may be tuning in to his show.

I have not read all of the comments so I don’t know if any one has pointed out that Shepard Smith is a Homosexual or not. I must say that for the most part he does a good job of not letting his personal view into his news coverage. Sadly this is not one of the times.
What I don’t understand is how convoluted the liberal mind is. He should be glad that conservatives don’t want Sharia law. We conservatives may not want to be forced to participate, in what those of us who agree with the Word of God that homosexuality is a sin, in what we consider sin. Mr. Smith should be happy that we oppose Sharia law, since we don’t want to kill homosexuals like the Muslims who want Sharia law would do.

This site monitors religious fanaticism which is crucial in a secular democracy (which thankfully we still have). I am confused why the clerk from Kentucky, a rather dim-witted, right-wing religious fanatic would find so much support on a site devoted to exposing and resisting religious nut-cases and their dangerous movements. Kim Davis’ world-view has far more in common with that of the Taliban, ISIS and the like than with secular democrats. Can someone explain this baffling incongruity?
Jay Boo says

Jack Diamond says
You are misinformed. This site does not monitor “religious fanaticism” and “religious nut cases”. It monitors Islamic Jihad (ISLAMIC) in all its manifestations (including one of its results, dhimmitude). The idea that devout Christians are somehow equivalent to devout Muslims, equally dangerous, equally reprehensible, equally a threat to freedom, betrays a serious lack in understanding the unique problem of Islam (and bad strategy in making alliances against the Jihad) and, considering the genocide being committed on Christians for their faith, by Muslims, as we speak, abysmally poor taste. Regardless of the merits or lack in the matter of Kim Davis, how smart or dim she is, the concern is the remark of Shepard Smith equating Christian “intolerance” with those Islamophobe bigots who dare to be worried about Sharia. You now, like equating her beliefs (in marriage) with the murderous, totalitarian & demonic Taliban and ISIS.
Jihad Watch introduces itself like this:
“Violent jihad is a constant of Islamic history. The passages quoted above and many others like them form a major element of the motivation of jihad warriors worldwide today. No major Muslim group has ever repudiated the doctrines of armed jihad. The theology of jihad, with all its assumptions about unbelievers‚ lack of human rights and dignity, is available today as a justification for anyone with the will and the means to bring it to life.
“Jihad Watch is dedicated to bringing public attention to the role that jihad theology and ideology play in the modern world and to correcting popular misconceptions about the role of jihad and religion in modern-day conflicts. By shedding as much light as possible on these matters, we hope to alert people of good will to the true nature of the present global conflict.
“Jihad Watch also includes content once posted on Dhimmi Watch, formerly a separate page on this site, tracking dhimmitude. Dhimmitude is the status that Islamic law, the Sharia, mandates for non-Muslims, primarily Jews and Christians. Dhimmis, “protected people,” are free to practice their religion in a Sharia regime, but are made subject to a number of humiliating regulations designed to enforce the Qur’an’s command that they “feel themselves subdued” (Sura 9:29). This denial of equality of rights and dignity remains part of the Sharia, and, as such, are part of the legal superstructure that global jihadists are laboring to restore everywhere in the Islamic world, and wish ultimately to impose on the entire human race.
Jihad Watch seeks to bring public attention to:
The plight of the dhimmis, an immense but almost completely ignored ongoing scandal that continues in Muslim countries today;
The plight of women under Sharia provisions, similar to conditions imposed on dhimmis, in the denial of equal rights and dignity;
Slavery in Islamic lands, which continues today, justified by Sharia-‘s dhimmi codes;
The integral role of jihad and dhimmitude ideology in global terrorism today;
The license that academic and journalistic whitewashes of dhimmitude gives to radical jihadist enemies of human rights for all.”
