Jihad Watch

Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Catholic bishops call for “complete decarbonization” by 2050, remain silent on global jihad against Christians

Oct 26, 2015 12:24 pm By Robert Spencer

Complete decarbonization? You first, fellas. No more jetting to Rome to cause trouble for everyone by canonizing hard-Left Democratic Party policies. And let’s see you portly prelates start bicycling from parish to parish — no more driving for you, McManus. That wouldn’t be a bad thing at all.

While the bishops call for this destruction of the global economy, they continue to ignore a genuine and growing threat from the global jihad.  Syriac Catholic Patriarch Ignatius Ephrem Joseph III Younan recently appealed to the West “not to forget the Christians in the Middle East.” And he is not the only one. “Why, we ask the western world, why not raise one’s voice over so much ferocity and injustice?” asked Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, the head of the Italian Bishops Conference (CEI). The Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarch Gregory III has also said: “I do not understand why the world does not raise its voice against such acts of brutality.”

I do. It’s because the bishops in the West believe that the spurious and self-defeating “dialogue” they’re conducting requires them to be silent about Muslim persecution of Christians: “Talk about extreme, militant Islamists and the atrocities that they have perpetrated globally might undercut the positive achievements that we Catholics have attained in our inter-religious dialogue with devout Muslims.” — Robert McManus, Roman Catholic Bishop of Worcester, Massachusetts, February 8, 2013

That’s why bishops such as McManus, Kevin Farrell of Dallas, Jaime Soto of Sacramento and others move actively to silence and demonize voices that tell the truth about this persecution. Meanwhile, their “dialogue” hasn’t persuaded a single jihadi to lay down his arms. Nor has it prevented a single Christian from being murdered by Muslims in pursuit of that jihad. Nor has it kept a single church from destruction at the hands of those jihadis.

The Church could have and should have been a voice for a genuinely charitable response to the jihad threat, and a robust defense of the value of Judeo-Christian civilization. Instead, it parrots Leftist talking points about climate change.

Francis and bishops

“Global bishops call for ‘complete decarbonisation’ by 2050,” AFP, October 26, 2015:

Bishops launched a global appeal Monday for a break-through at upcoming Paris climate talks, including a “complete decarbonisation” of the world’s economy and more help for poor countries battling the effects of climate change.

The bishops said any agreement “should limit global temperature increases to avoid catastrophic climatic impacts, especially on the most vulnerable communities”.

From across five continents they called “not only for ‘drastic reduction in the emission of carbon dioxide and other toxic gasses’, but also for ending the fossil fuel era”.

The goal should be “complete decarbonisation by mid-century, in order to protect frontline communities suffering from the impacts of climate change, such as those in the Pacific Islands and in coastal regions”.

The November 30-December 11 conference in Paris will be the culmination of six years of work since the ill-fated 2009 Copenhagen climate summit, which failed to lock down significant agreements.

The bishops urged those taking part to “keep in mind not only the technical but particularly the ethical and moral dimensions of climate change” as laid out in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

“Those responsible for climate change have responsibilities to assist the most vulnerable in adapting and managing loss and damage and to share the necessary technology and knowhow,” they said in a statement….

    Complete decarbonization?

Sure, their plan is to have Muslims rule the world, eliminate 60% of the population and send us back to the dark ages. The only thing they forgot is that camels fart methane, a greenhouse gas.
The bigger issue is how these supposed men of GOD buy into this farce. Why would GOD put the Earth’s climate on such a knifes edge that carbon dioxide will tip the scales towards catastrophe?
When will this lie be exposed for what it is? A LIE!!

Muslims are the greatest meat consumers in the world. Their meat consumption (for religious sacrifices and meals) is an enormous depletion of natural and farm resources. Moreover, you rightly identity the flatulence of over a BILLION animals in the southern hemisphere, most of which are purchased by Muslims. In addition, there is the issue of the CRUELTY TO ANIMALS posed by the barbaric halal slaughter technique that does not require stunning the animals humanely before slaughter.

As for helping the poor, shame on them – they want to ban fossil fuels and deny poor people a cheap source of energy all along while pretending to worry about their welfare. No gas means having to burn wood or animal dung to cook and heating, resulting in air pollution and respiratory infections, chronic obstructive lung diseases or even cancer. No coal or oil-burning power plants means people are dependent on electricity from wind and solar sources, which require expensive equipment and are not reliably available all year long.

Shame on those bishops. And shame on the Pope.

I’m not sure this gameplan is the right one. First of all, getting America of oil equals getting America off Saudi. Second, as someone trying to drive liberals to this site for info on Jihad, they’ll click right off and climate change is superfluous to the pressing need to try to inform America that there is a plot afoot to take over their country and chop off their limbs. Same could be said for any of the right’s other issues such as say planned parenthood. It makes the left think the right is nuts and the more they think the right is nuts the less apt they are to read an article telling them jihad is real.

Customarily Popes of the past has shown much more compassion than Francis. If he is a staunch liberal it would be understandable, because of his left ideology beliefs that are now controlling his unacceptable mindset.

However, as an alternate thought as to why he completely shows no concern about people that are in harm’s way, at this very moment, maybe due to a complete cognizance of reality absence. Then we should consider that the pope is now suffering from a serious malaise…..a brain tumor. An aberrated brain will certainly cause despotic and/or irrational behavior.

Pam Geller, Brigitte Gabriel, et. al. who speak the truth about Islamofascism are the fearless ones. We should all ‘fear’ the destruction of Western Civilization by Islamofascists which is why we SHOULD be at war with this supremacist ideology just like we went to war with the supremacist Nazism. That’s assuming we want to survive but because Islam is called a religion rather than a political supremacist ideology…we stupidly tolerate it which will lead to our demise. As a Christian, recently I’ve been very interested to know more about the “Image of God” as mentioned in Genesis 1:27

Then, my next step was to go to Wikipedia to find a discussion on this subject. Wikipedia has posted this theme@: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_of_God

Systematically as always Wikipedia provides the gist of what I was looking for…..including this link titled: ‘Three ways of understanding Imago Dei (Image of God)”

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_of_God#Three_ways_of_understanding_Imago_Dei

And bingo, I found out more about the Ecological impact nestled in the Functional part of the third part of “understanding Imago Dei”

    Ecological impact[edit]
“With the rise of contemporary ecological concerns the functional interpretation of the image of God has grown in popularity. Some modern theologians are arguing for proper religious care of the earth based on the functional interpretation of the image of god as caregiver over created order. Thus, exerting dominion over creation is an imperative for responsible ecological action.”

Here again folks, nothing to do with the responsibility of exerting greatly needed compassion towards God’s creations, in harm’s way, was not written about.

Except the quoting of the 10 Commandments’@:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_of_God#Judaism

“First of the Ten Commandments is held in parallel with the Sixth Commandment: “I am the LORD your God,” and “Do not murder.” Harming a human is likened to attacking God.”

For you see it’s all about human rights and other secular issues, but nothing about human preservation!

Personally, I think it is great that the Catholic church is finally putting some attention on environmental concerns, which are not, by the way, “Leftist” ideas. Why does this article equate environmentalism with “Leftism”? Most, if not all, truly Leftist states are super-industrialized – and heavily polluted! Also there are environmental activist groups within the US Republican party. This article has a strange slant to it, which seems to imply that there is some correlation between being an environmentalist and not criticizing Islam and being a “Leftist.” It’s not as if the church has decided to talk about the environment INSTEAD of raising the alarm about jihad and there is no reason why both issues could not be raised! Indeed they should!

The core information in this website is excellent and I share the concerns of its authors and researchers: the desecration of hard-won Western ideals, values, and systems by the folly of “PC” gone mad. I too decry the lack of vocal outrage from mainstream organizations, religious leaders, feminist institutions, democracy groups, NGOs, political scientists, political activists, intellectuals, atheists, scientists, and many others who ought to be harshly criticizing Islam for its lack of compatibility with their own core values. But sadly, I never want to re-post or share Jihad Watch articles, because of its tone. It’s written in a kind of snotty way and as if assuming that those who are reading are a) against Jihad because they are either Christians or Jews (what about atheists, Buddhists and Hindus etc.?) or b) “right wing”, or at least not “left wing”. On top of that, the scornful tone of this article seems to indicate that the author, Robert Spencer, is a climate denier. Clearly he seems to think it ludicrous that the church has made this statement in support of the environmental movement! But the truth is that unless people take drastic action to stop polluting and destroying the earth’s oceans and forests, there won’t be any humans left to squabble about their gods anyway. I’m an environmentalist who is also a pro-rational thought free thinker. I support some aspects of capitalism and some of socialism. Mainly though, I’m a secularist who does not believe that government should be in any way affiliated with religion and certainly not controlled by or beholden to it. That includes ALL religion. So although, for example, I am often the lone voice in support of Israel in certain circles, I am also heavily critical of its ultra-orthodox leadership which exacerbates the country’s problems and is not the true voice of the common people.

So my point is this: I’d like to see more articles on Jihad Watch written in a more neutral tone and in which the author doesn’t bring his own biases about unrelated issues into the reportage. I’m not going to share an article by an apparent climate denier to anyone whose intelligence I respect as a way to influence that person to wake up to the threat of Islamification of the West.

Peace. See you all at Burning Man next year.

    Not!

Any good cause or movement can be twisted into extremism. Leftists have tended to do that with most of their pet projects, including concern for the environment.

“Most, if not all, truly Leftist states are super-industrialized – and heavily polluted!”

The Third World (including all Muslim nations) is probably the most environmentally regressive in the world — but because Leftists are so anxiously concerned not to be “bigoted” against “other cultures”, they will never rationally notice the data in this regard — or if they do, they will perversely find a way to blame their own West. for it.

Very good points. I love Spencer and I forgive him his climate change denial because really he’s just reacting to the way the left carries out its campaign’s and he’s right. You want to fight climate change shut up and get to work buying, building and iinvesting in solar. More important that climate change is jihad. What does it mater if there’s ten billion people on the planet or one bn if everyone is Muslim? Getting off oil means getting off Saudi which has 77 pet cent of the stuff and whose state oil co is 10 times the size of Exxon. Pretty basic and there are antijihad sites that encourage abstinence for this reason. Otherwise, there is a boy’s club tone to this site which is going to become a liability as more democrats wake up. Horowitz needs to get its best heads together and create a platform that puts out the message your friends want to hear as a matter of urgency

The neat thing about jihad awareness is that is forces liberals to reevaluate their cherished political beliefs, and a little machiavellianism can go a long way here

It’s instructive to read what attribute Christ said would characterize his disciples:

Joh 13:35 BY THIS shall all men know that ye are my disciples, IF YE HAVE LOVE ONE TO ANOTHER.

    And the Apostle John wrote:

1Jn 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, BECAUSE WE LOVE THE BRETHREN. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

1Jn 3:17 But if a man has this world’s goods, and sees that HIS BROTHER IS IN NEED, and KEEPS HIS HEART SHUT AGAINST HIS BROTHER, how is it possible for the love of God to be in him?

Those Catholic Bishops who ignore the cries of persecuted Christians…..and even take the side of their Muslim persecutors…..stand accused by the Word of God and show themselves to be the disciples of the Enemy…..and not of Christ.
