The news accounts on Netanyahu’s remarks are full of historians dismissing his statements. The problem with that is that no one really knows: much of the planning of the Holocaust was not written down, as even the Nazis apparently knew what a great evil they were perpetrating and didn’t want a paper trail showing the responsibility that various people had. The Holocaust Explained site notes that “historians remain uncertain as to when ‘the’ order for the ‘Final Solution’ was made, and who actually made it.”
Historians don’t know that, but they know that the Mufti of Jerusalem had no involvement in the Nazi decision to move from exiling the Jews to mass-murdering them? Supporting Netanyahu’s statement is testimony from SS Hauptsturmfuehrer Dieter Wisliceny, a close collaborator of Adolf Eichmann. Wisliceny said that “the grand mufti, who had been in Berlin since 1941, played a role in the decision of the German government to exterminate the European Jews the importance of which must not be disregarded. He had repeatedly suggested to the various authorities with whom he had been in contact, above all before Hitler, Ribbentrop and Himmler, the extermination of European Jewry. He considers this as a comfortable solution of the Palestine problem. In his messages broadcast from Berlin, he surpassed us in anti-Jewish attacks. He was one of Eichmann’s best friends and has constantly incited him to accelerate the extermination measures. I heard say that, accompanied by Eichmann, he has visited incognito the gas chamber in Auschwitz.”
The statement referred to in the affidavit was made by Eichmann in his office in Budapest on June 4, 1944; the confirmation by Wisliceny was given some days later, also in Budapest.
Further, according to testimony at the Nuremberg trials, “the mufti was a bitter arch enemy of the Jews and had always been the protagonist of the idea of their annihilation. This idea the mufti had always advanced in his conversations with Eichmann.”
Eichmann had before all this been in charge of efforts to deport the Jews from Europe. After the Mufti weighed in, the Nazi efforts shifted from deportation to extermination — confirming Wisliceny’s account.
News stories concentrate on when the Mufti met with Hitler, but even there they’re not taking into account the possibility of an off-the-record meeting. Even without that, the substance of what Netanyahu said could be true if the Mufti’s calls for extermination were conveyed to Hitler by Himmler or Eichmann. Historians tend to dismiss Wisliceny’s account because it isn’t corroborated by any other testimony or any written records, but that is the nature of the case when it comes to the Holocaust.
The Guardian, alone among the accounts I have seen, grudgingly admits that some historians agree with Netanyahu, but describes them as the “fringe”: “The claim that Husseini – who met and supported Hitler – was the one to initiate the idea of the extermination of Europe’s Jews has been suggested by historians on the fringes of Holocaust research, but is rejected by most historians.”
Meanwhile, Pamela Geller has a photo here of a letter the Mufti wrote to Ribbentrop, demanding that the deportation of Jews to Palestine be stopped. It would have been natural for one of the Nazis to ask the Mufti, “Well, then, what’s your alternative?” Whether they did or didn’t, Wisliceny’s testimony gives ample support to Netanyahu’s remarks. The uproar those remarks have caused is an indication of how enraged the media establishment becomes whenever anyone Muslim is criticized.

“Netanyahu Draws Broad Criticism After Saying a Palestinian Inspired Holocaust,” by Jodi Rudoren, New York Times, October 21, 2015:
JERUSALEM — Israeli historians and opposition politicians on Wednesday joined Palestinians in denouncing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel for saying it was a Palestinian, the grand mufti of Jerusalem, who gave Hitler the idea of annihilating European Jews during World War II.
Mr. Netanyahu said in a speech to the Zionist Congress on Tuesday night that “Hitler didn’t want to exterminate the Jews at the time, he wanted to expel the Jews.” The prime minister said that the mufti, Haj Amin al-Husseini, had protested to Hitler that “they’ll all come here,” referring to Palestine.
“ ‘So what should I do with them?’ ” Mr. Netanyahu quoted Hitler as asking Mr. Husseini. “He said, ‘Burn them.’ ”
Prof. Meir Litvak, a historian at Tel Aviv University, called the speech “a lie” and “a disgrace.” Prof. Moshe Zimmermann, a specialist of German history at Hebrew University, said, “With this, Netanyahu joins a long line of people that we would call Holocaust deniers.”
Isaac Herzog, leader of the opposition in the Israeli Parliament, said the accusation was “a dangerous historical distortion,” and he demanded that Mr. Netanyahu “correct it immediately.”
Even Moshe Yaalon, the defense minister and a senior member of Mr. Netanyahu’s Likud Party, said in a radio interview that “history is actually very, very clear.”
“Hitler initiated it,” he said. “Haj Amin al-Husseini joined him.”…
Saeb Erekat, secretary general of the Palestine Liberation Organization, said on Wednesday that Mr. Netanyahu’s “regrettable statements have deepened the divide” and denounced them as “morally indefensible and inflammatory.”
“Mr. Netanyahu blamed the Palestinians for the Holocaust and completely absolved Adolf Hitler’s heinous and reprehensible genocide of the Jewish people,” Mr. Erekat said in a statement. “It is a sad day in history when the leader of the Israeli government hates his neighbor so much that he is willing to absolve the most notorious war criminal in history.”
Mr. Netanyahu, who had also called the mufti “one of the leading architects of the Final Solution” in a 2012 speech, on Wednesday called the criticism of his remarks “absurd.”
“My intention was not to absolve Hitler of his responsibility,” he said as he left Israel for Germany, where he met with Chancellor Angela Merkel. “But rather to show that the forefathers of the Palestinian nation, without a country and without the so-called occupation, without land and without settlements, even then aspired to systematic incitement to exterminate the Jews.”
“Hitler was responsible for the Final Solution to exterminate six million Jews; he made the decision,” Mr. Netanyahu added. “It is equally absurd to ignore the role played by the mufti, Haj Amin al -Husseini, a war criminal, for encouraging and urging Hitler.”
Mr. Netanyahu, who is scheduled to meet Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday in Berlin, said he would ask Mr. Kerry to demand that Mr. Abbas “stop the incitement that is the source of many attacks that we see here.”…

They proved that Communism (Socialism with a gun at your head) is a failed economic system. IF everybody was on the same page, and IF everybody unselfishly did their job, it might work. But people are selfish. People want more than just what everybody else does. So, some people will work harder, for a reward. Communism and Socialism do not work that way. They fail to take into account, individual motivation. They don’t see the corruption that must accommodate these concepts. Russia failed as their economy failed. Putin, heavy underhandedly took control. Lucky for him, they uncovered oil. Unfortunately, the price of oil dropped and now Putin is trying to wrest control of oil production in the Middle East. The dictator is not so benign.

Right up to the establishment of modern Israel the Arabs were understandably concerned about an influx of Jewish people to the Holy Land and many quite violent skirmishes took place over the years.leading up to and including 1948. I understand that the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem was one of the most outspoken opponents to any Jewish immigration at the time.
BUT it must be remembered that modern Israel was established with the support of the UN. It should also be remembered that Jerusalem was the most important city in Judaism for almost 2000 years before Islam was even thought of.
This is not an intractable problem, quite simply, Jerusalem belongs to Israel just like Mecca belongs to Islam.
mahghan says
“Holocaust guilt” forced the UN in 1948 to vote for the state of Israel. But the invader Arabs having stolen all that Middle East real estate through conquest became enraged and launched an Arab ummah–imperialist war against Israel. Winning their hearts and minds is sophomoric and just plain BS.
Problem is…we do not know how to do all this anymore. All Washington knows how to do is be stupid.
voegelinian says

spot on says
Voegelinian, Guess I referred to Arabs since that is what they were often called during WWII when people referred to them as caravan robbers and such. There are many Christian Arabs and they are peaceful. Muslims cover a lot more ground these days. Peaceful? I say no. I believe that beyond any doubt, Muslims are warlike. 1 out of 6 of them would kill us for sport if given the chance. That is the same odds as Russian Roulette.
Max Publius says
Finally. Thank you Netanyahu. It’s obvious that the Mufti was a key figure in the Holocaust. His sole reason for going to Germany was to mass murder Jews. He was motivated by Islam. He wouldn’t have spent 5 YEARS in Berlin during WWII spewing hate on the radio and meeting with Nazi leadership if he wasn’t being effective.
It may have been hard to comprehend this at first due to the strange relations between Nazis and Islamists, but now it’s clearly become a coverup to protect Islam and maintain a tidy version of Hitler’s evil. There is no Holocaust denial or offloading responsibility simply by exposing the truth on the Mufti and his Nazi Islamic brigades as an important factor in explaining how that maximal crime evolved.
mahghan says
Intuition should lead one to ask the following question: why did this Mufti, a Head of NO state, choose to travel all the way to Germany to have a tete a tete with Hitler?
Obviously he figured that the concentration camps were being built as “holding camps” as a prelude to deporting the Jews to the Palestine Mandate area. The Mufti must have told Hitler–“we don’t want them.”. They certainly didn’t meet to discuss how to make “vegetarian shawarma”. So what did they discuss? Answer: alternative ways to “solve” the Jewish problem.
Max Publius says
Yes, and it’s important to point out, this Mufti was literally the most high ranking figure in the entire Muslim world. He was chosen by Muslims and represented Islam on world forums on many occasions. He was the closest thing to a Caliph at that time, and he was clearly guilty of deep, knowing complicity in mass murder.

Netanyahu is learning from “The Donald”. This is a “Trump Politics” at it’s best and a brilliant political move. Forget for a moment whether the gas chambers were the Mufti’s idea or not. The fact is the Palestinian leader’s close association with the Nazi leadership has been brought back into the public arena for scrutiny and cannot be denied.
Last week we had the liberal media explaining that these knife and shooting attacks by Muslim Arabs on Israeli Jews was all because of frustration over the stalled “two state solution”.
But some of us know that there is a deeper reason that is all about anti- semitism and a long tradition of Jew hating. Netanyahu like Trump has made a seemingly outrageous statement that can’t be dismissed completely. All those troubling photos of the Mufti with Hitler and Himmler. The fact the Mufti organized a Muslim SS Division from the Balkans, all prove the fascist and anti-semitic roots of the “Palestinians”.
Nice move Bibi, Trump would have been proud.
Doc says
It is a matter of historical record that Hitler’s wish to have the Jews exterminated was given to the senior Nazi leadership on 12 December 1941 – the earliest date at which he expressly stated this. Its well documented, corroborated by the eyewitness testimony of several senior Nazis after the war. He did this in apparent anticipation of the conference to discuss the ‘final solution’ that Reinhardt Heydrich, Himmler’s deputy, was scheduled to have organised in late 1941. The Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbour and Hitler’s decision to declare war on America interrupted this. The infamous Wannsee Conference (as it became known) subsequently occurred on 20 January 1942, at which the ‘Final Solution’ to the ‘Jewish Question’ (as the Nazis termed it) was discussed and the recommendation for an organised extermination was agreed to and put to Hitler for approval shortly afterwards. Unsurprisingly it accorded with Hitler’s expressed opinion/wishes.
The repeated discussions with the Grand Mufti occurred BEFORE all this – the best known (last?) recorded meeting between Hitler and Hussein was in October 1941, well before the final decision on the ‘Final Solution’ was made.
There is no debate about this chronology amongst most respected historians. The Nazis had been experimenting with mass murder of Jews well before this – as early as 1940 and Einsatzgruppen extermination squads followed the Wehrmacht into Russia from the start of Op BARBAROSSA in June 1941. Exactly when Hitler decided on murdering the Jews of Europe rather than deporting them (one so-called ‘solution’ seriously considered) will always be debated but what Netanyahu has suggested is entirely plausible and there is credible evidence to back it (his father, an eminent historian may have first suggested it).
There is little doubt the Grand Mufti was a virulent anti-Semite and actively sought the annihilation of the Jews. Had the British not occupied Palestine it is almost certain Palestinian Muslims (with Nazi help of course) at the urging of the Grand Mufti would have conducted an uprising aimed at exterminating the Jews there. But Rommel didn’t take Cairo, the Arab uprising never happened although the Nazis, at Hitler’s insistence, facilitated the Mufti’s ‘visit’ to Berlin.
You have to ask why Hitler would want the Mufti in Berlin if not to seek his assistance in getting Muslims to fight for the Nazi cause (which tens of thousands of them did) if he didn’t respect the Mufti’s advice? Can we really doubt the Mufti DIDN’T urge Hitler at every opportunity to annihilate the Jews? We have at least one credible eyewitness testimony that the Mufti told Hitler to ‘burn the Jews’ – in October 1941, months before the decision to launch the Holocaust was taken. There are also ample historical records of the Mufti’s violent opposition to Zionist migration to Palestine before the war. He didn’t want the Jews expelled from Europe because he feared that, like the Zionists, they would end up in Palestine! Why wouldn’t he be one of those influencing the Fuhrer to undertake the annihilation of the Jews, likely in the manner in which Netanyahu suggested?
Angemon says
He’s absolutely right. But facts are islamophobic, so…
David Scoltock says
Ok, the facts as the are known:
Hitler’s original plan in the late 30’s was to force Jews to leave Europe via economic and social pressure (stealing their property and social terrorism). WW2 from the German perspective was to be a swift conflict lasting no more than 2 years and Operation Barbarossa (the invasion of the USSR) would result in the slavs being forced east with the vast tracts of Ukraine and Western Russia being handed over to German settlers.
The most obvious place for the Jews to be expelled to was palestine and the German authorities encouraged this. When Britain entered the war and Italy got involved, forcing the Germans to enter the North African theatre. The Germans evolved their plans to involve a quick victory over Britain and occupation of the middle east, making the expulsion of the Jews easier.
The Mufti was used as a pawn by the Germans, encouraged to stir up rebelleion in British occupied middle eastern territories and by the end of 1941 Germany was in an uncertain place and the two year quick war was abandoned, this led to the evolution of the final solution due to the fear of a prolonged conflict.
The mufti’s rebellion failed as the British hold of the region was too strong and the arabs realised they would be replacing one european ruler with another, better the devil they knew was the general view.
Muslims fought on both sides in WW2. The Germans had a Bosnian SS division called “handschar” The British had muslims from what is now pakistan fighting as part of the Indian divisions and also had an arab force known as the “arab legion” that fought in North Africa.
epistemology says
“Hitler was responsible for the Final Solution to exterminate six million Jews; he made the decision,” Mr. Netanyahu added. “It is equally absurd to ignore the role played by the mufti, Haj Amin al -Husseini, a war criminal, for encouraging and urging Hitler.”
This is absolutely true, Bibi first overdid it a little bit. But his new statement is fact. Everybody who studied the mufti’s involvement in the Holocaust such as Robert did, knows that. In his book “The Nazi Connection to Islamic Terrorism” the American author Chuck Morse even claims the mufti was more anti-Semitic than the Nazis. He also quotes Dieter Wisliceny and the question here is, why should Wisliceny lie at the Nuremberg trials? He was doomed to die and this statement didn’t make his situation any better. So I think his statement can be trusted and Bibi is right.
This is very good timing as being in Germany now Bibi brought the mufti’s involvement in the Holocaust to the attention of the German public. Most Germans never heard about the mufti and have the nonsensical idea that they are responsible for “the victims of the victims” (the Palis). The Germans have to learn that there are only responsible for the only victims, the Jews and the palis are war criminals same as the Nazis. The mufti made up the Hanjar SS brigades in Bosnia and Kosovo during the war. The members were only muzzies, they got halal food and could pray five times a day. They were busy all the time killing Jews. Bibi got it right
David scoltock says
The handschar division was deployed to anti-partisan duties against serbian leftist partisans not against Jews.

As for the usual suspects of the PC police who control the dialogue about Islam, Israel, etc., those two historian mentioned in this article fall in the category of what is called in Israel “Post-Zionists”. They are the protagonists who supported the Oslo Accords which brought the PLO (now called the Palestinian Authority [PA]) to the West Bank and Gaza (until Hamas took over the PA there). It can be said that the Post-Zionists are those Jews of German-Austrian ancestry who were known as the “German Jewish intellectuals” and were founding members of the Social Science faculties of Israel’s first university (Hebrew University) [See Yoram Hazony’s book the “The Struggle for Israel’s Soul” 2001]. It is revealing that one of the two “historians mentioned below still has German surname Zimmermann (I should add with the German ending mann). If one investigated his bio one could probably show that his MO fits the profile of a typical Post-Zionist. Another case in point is that the Israeli newspaper of record Haaretz (the New York Times of Israel) also attacked Netanyahu with these canards of falsely accusing the Mufti of instigating the Final Solution. It too is published by the Austrian Jewish family “The Schockens”. It in fact, has sold a significant share of its stock to a Austrian family of Nazi origin. Even the New York Times is run by the Schulzberger family. The Publisher patriarch Arthur Hays Schulzberger was a Reform German Jew opposed to Jewish nationhood in the mold of the Post-Zionists. This helps to understand why the New York Times buried the Holocaust in its back pages during WWII [See “Buried by the Times: The Holocaust and America’s Most Important Newspaper” by Laurel Leff ]and its anti-Israel line today.

Netanyahu has nothing to apologize for. He has history on his side. Hajj Amin al Husseini was a very active murderer and accessory to mass murder before and during WW2. Al Husseini died in 1974, out living his Nazi buddies by 19 years. Netanyahu knows more about this Muslim Nazi than almost anyone else on earth! The muslims and our own MSM have been assiduously trying to scrub up his legacy for several years now.

The meeting with the Mufti is consistent with the notion that Hitler was looking for a “Final Solution”. This suggests that incarcerated Jews were not dying fast enough for Hitler’s liking. The transportation to Palestine for six million was unrealistic. So he was looking for justification of a more drastic solution. In this case the Useful Idiot was the Mufti. Hitler certainly would have clashed with Islam if he had won the war. By then he would have had the perfect final solution for Muslims.
