“The amount of money that the Center for American Progress and also CAIR [the Council on American Islamic Relations] show in their studies of philanthropic support for Islamophobic authors and websites was found to be 42.6 million dollars.” This is a wildly inflated figure, reached by conflating disparate organizations and lumping together the support they have received over many years. “When you get that kind of money being pumped into putting out negative messages,” says Esposito, “to which the average person is exposed to, then you get the perception that Muslims are not speaking out.
In reality, it is Esposito and his allies who have all the money and media influence. His organization received $20 million in 2005 from Saudi prince Alwaleed bin Talal, and untold sums on other occasions from others: “In December 2005, the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding (CMCU) received a $20 million dollar gift from HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal.” Is it any wonder, then, that every time you see a mainstream media story about jihad, it is minimizing the jihad threat and demonizing counter-jihadists?
“The strength of the Islamaphobic forces, as well as those who are fellow travelers, and what I mean by travelers is that when you have Jihad Watch or others publishing stuff, it gets picked up in front pages everywhere. It gets picked up by other fellow travelers at times; by Pajama media, American Thinker, Family Security.” Esposito would have us believe that people have a negative view of Islam because of Jihad Watch? While I am flattered that he has such respect for my Zionist black arts, I must demur. I ain’t that good.
If people have a negative view of Islam, it’s because of people who keep beheading people and blowing things up and raping women and then explaining that they’re doing it because of Islamic texts and teachings. Esposito, like all purveyors of the “Islamophobia” myth, is trying to hoodwink people into thinking that those who are responsible for linking Islam to terrorism are those who report on the activities of jihad terrorists, rather than jihad terrorists themselves. Esposito, in speaking in this interview about “Ben Carson or whatever the heck his name is,” calls himself “a guy who is too bright to be stupid.”
He may or may not be that, but the American people certainly are. And it because they see jihad activity, plus the threats of imminent conquest, and the denial, victimhood posturing and finger-pointing from Hamas-linked CAIR and its ilk, that “those who view Muslims favorably have dropped from 35 percent to 27 percent” — not because of Jihad Watch. But thanks anyway, John.
“Building Bridges: John Esposito Talks to OnIslam,” by Inas Younis, OnIslam, October 27, 2015 (thanks to C.):
…If Islamaphobia is an irrational fear of the threat of Muslims and Islam, what is a rational fear that Muslims and non Muslims should have, given the rise of Muslim extremism.
A rational fear is the increasing and almost metastasizing with regard to the nature of extremism, the breadth of it, and also with regard to the increase in Islamophobia. And also the extent to which extremism is a significant factor in the potential breaking up of large areas in the Middle East. As well as how the governments, including but not just Iran and Syria, but now even some of the gulf states, each in their own way, are feeding and exacerbating a kind of Sunni-Shiite dimension, and also exacerbating confrontation and levels of violence.…
Then you look at the last ten years, more important than the mass media is the role that social media has played. The amount of money that the Center for American Progress and also CAIR [the Council on American Islamic Relations] show in their studies of philanthropic support for Islamophobic authors and websites was found to be 42.6 million dollars. Over ten-year period and the other looked at three-year period and found something like 119 million dollars. When you get that kind of money being pumped into putting out negative messages, to which the average person is exposed to, then you get the perception that Muslims are not speaking out….
Can you comment on any future trends for Muslims everywhere?
The strength of the Islamaphobic forces, as well as those who are fellow travelers, and what I mean by travelers is that when you have Jihad Watch or others publishing stuff, it gets picked up in front pages everywhere. It gets picked up by other fellow travelers at times; by Pajama media, American Thinker, Family Security. And with all that going on with the Shawn [sic] Hannity’s and O’Reillys of the world, the risk is that things could get much worse.
So the bad news is that those who view Muslims favorably have dropped from 35 percent to 27 percent…

Saleem Smith says
John Esposito has been studying the barbaric laws/rules of “Allah” contained within the supposedly “perfect Qur’an” for decades. John Esposito is well acquainted with Muhammad’s innumerable evil sayings and doings recorded in the Sunnah (the Hadith and Sira).
If John Esposito were a Muslim, he would be considered a wishy-washy Muslim for not wanting to apply Islamic Sharia law. Muslims that take Islam seriously invariably want to apply all of the laws/rules of Islamic theology and enforce the Sharia and they would gladly put a bullet in Esposito’s head for his lack of “Islamic obedience.” What an irresponsible old fool he is.
We ex-Muslims living with Islam’s formal and informal death penalty for apostasy know that Islam is a complete fraud deserving of zero respect.
Islamic Apostasy>>
Islam’s canonical texts record that the prophet of Islam instructed his followers to kill those Muslims attempting to leave the fold of Islam.
Therefore each and every one of Muhammad’s followers are required to murder any friend or family member that attempts to leave the religion of Islam.
Some Islamic apologists claim that Islam does not call for the death of Muslim apostates, while other Muslims acknowledge that the Islamic scriptures do indeed call for the death of ex-Muslims.
As always, for the answer to whether or not Islamic theology prescribes death to the apostates of Islam we must turn to Islam’s foundational texts, the Qur’an, the Hadith and Sira.
Regardless of whether or not Islam prescribes death for Muslim apostates, it is no doubt a very dangerous proposition to leave the religion. The sad fact is that Islamic theology and law both prescribe death to Muslim apostates.
The sayings and doings of Muhammad, considered to be authentic by the majority of Muslims, are found in the Bukhari hadith collections among others.
Hadith: Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 9, Book 84, No. 57:
Narrated Ikrima: Some Zanadiqa (atheists) were brought to Ali and he burnt them. The news of this event, reached Ibn Abbas who said, “If I had been in his place, I would not have burnt them, as Allah’s Apostle forbade it, saying, ‘Do not punish anybody with Allah’s punishment (fire)’. I would have killed them according to the statement of Allah’s Apostle, ‘Whoever changes his Islamic religion, then kill him.’”
Muhammad personally ordered the death of hundreds of innocent people. But then again, the word innocent means something entirely different in “Islam Speak”. And keep in mind that Muslims are taught to believe that Muhammad is the perfect man who is to be emulated in every instance…
Here is a recent statement from a group of Bangladeshi apostates living in the UK explaining the reasons why they have abandoned Islam:
“One who claims to be a messenger of God is expected to live a saintly life. He must not be given to lust, he must not be a sexual pervert, and he must not be a rapist, a highway robber, a war criminal, a mass murderer or an assassin. One who claims to be a messenger of God must have a superior character. He must stand above the vices of the people of his time. Yet Muhammad’s life is that of a gangster godfather. He raided merchant caravans, looted innocent people, massacred entire male populations and enslaved the women and children. He raped the women captured in war after killing their husbands and told his followers that it is okay to have sex with their captives (Qur’an 33:50). He assassinated those who criticized him and executed them when he came to power and became de facto despot of Arabia. Muhammad was bereft of human compassion. He was an obsessed man with his dreams of grandiosity and could not forgive those who stood in his way…
The statement continues,
Muhammad was a narcissist, like Hitler, Saddam or Stalin. He was astute and knew how to manipulate people, but his emotional intelligence was less evolved than that of a 6-year-old child. He simply could not feel the pain of others. He brutally massacred thousands of innocent people and pillaged their wealth. His ambitions were big and as a narcissist he honestly believed he is entitled to do as he pleased and commit all sorts of crimes and his evil deeds are justified.”
kay says
TRUTH. And more TRUTH.
Support for counter-jihad by ex-Muslims is of crucial importance in winning the social debates, just like freedom of speech.
This response in itself disproves the basic position of John Esposito.
The work of the Bangladeshi free society organizers is most important.
Four have been killed this year alone.
Clearly John Esposito opposes the work of murdered free society organizers and secularists such as Stephane Charbonnier and Avijit Roy.
“Our aim is to build a society which will not be bound by the dictates of arbitrary authority, comfortable superstition, stifling tradition, or suffocating orthodoxy but would rather be based on reason, compassion, humanity, equality and science.”
— Avijit Roy
Stephane Charbonnier and Avijit Roy were reasonable people. The Islamists were completely unreasonable. So they had to kill these and other free society organizers.
It appears that John Esposito is more comfortable with the forty percent of Muslims worldwide who support jihad and/ or Sharia law.
And that perspective is what inspires me to do massive outreach for counter-jihad writers.
This sentence by John Esposito makes no sense:
“A rational fear is the increasing and almost metastasizing with regard to the nature of extremism, the breadth of it, and also with regard to the increase in Islamophobia.”
At the very least, the label “rational fear” should be plural.
This statement of John Esposito is completely ridiculous:
“When you get that kind of money being pumped into putting out negative messages, to which the average person is exposed to, then you get the perception that Muslims are not speaking out…”
Everyone knows that is not true. Islamists march in great numbers recently ( 2014 – 2015 ), in London, in Paris, in Denmark. No one in Europe can ignore these European Islamist marches and riots.
My communication skills are far better than John Esposito. I could beat him in public debate any day of the week. His “arguments” are laughable.
And once again, Robert Spencer sets the record straight for all to see.
“It is only necessary to want to make things clear.”

There is a scarce difference between the barbarity, misogyny and hatred of the ‘other’ between KSA and ISIS…they only differ in the TEMPO of beheadings, choppings, stonings, imprisonments, and murders. ISIS is in a hurry…KSA is taking it slow by exporting hatred and supremacism by school texts. ISIS is the logical result of Saudi school texts.
KSA is the father of ISIS…its very own Islamic Frankenstein’s monster that large numbers of Muslims approve over KSA.
Esposito’s professional career is to hide the brutality, misogyny, bigotry, backwardness, apartheid, racism of KSA and the 7th century savagery of Islam.
The short list of WORST THINGS IN ISLAM that Esposito is hiding is the following:
1 No Golden Rule 2 No free speech 3 No democracy 4 Jihad – holy war of world conquest 5 Honour killings 6 Taqiyya – sacred lying 7 Taqlid – group think 8 Misogyny – repression of women 9 Rape of kafirs as jihad prizes 10 Genocide 11 Ethnic cleansing 12 Anti-Semitism 13 Al-Walaa wal-Baraa – Islamic apartheid 14 Torture 15 Plundering 16 Cruel and unusual punishments 17 Backwardness – stagnation 18 Violence against women 19 Slavery 20 Discriminatory Sharia law 21 Hatred of the arts 22 Pedophilia disguised as child marriage 23 Fifty generations of cousin marriage and genetic defects 24 Cruelty to animals 25 Extortion tax to humiliate disbelievers 26 No historic basis 27 Anti-intellectual obscurantism 28 FGM 29 Arab racism 30 Theocratic totalitarianism 31 Vigilantism 32 Supremacism

There is still one core truth that simply cannot be obfuscated. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Christian, a Jew, a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Hindu, an atheist or agnostic: The Jesus that Christians believe in and set up as the most perfect man is WILDLY and VASTLY different than the Muhammad that Muslims believe in and look to as a perfect man. The Christian Jesus didn’t wield earthly power or riches, he didn’t command armies, he didn’t raid or conquer nations, he didn’t take sex slaves or booty, he didn’t kill people—Muhammad did all of those things. The idea that two religions with such strikingly different role models would advocate the same morality and values is completely illogical.

This implies that one of Fitzgerald’s Esdrujulo Elves — Cupidity — is the main or only reason for the dominance of PC MC throughout the Western mainstream. If that’s the only factor, it would necessarily imply that the millions of Westerners who enable the Mainstream are evil. Another Elf can help ease the pressure of such a massive demonization of the West — for example, Stupidity. But still, what kind of West would we be defending, whose majority Mainstream, through a combination of greed and stupidity enables an enemy that wants to destroy us? Doesn’t sound like much of a West to fight for.
We need to put the analysis on pause and back up this vehicle. Why is the Mainstream of the West persisting in its myopia about the problem of Islam, and in the process whitewashing Islam and Muslims, in the face of mountains of data that would indicate such a whitewashing is grievously mistaken? And why do millions of ordinary Westerners follow suit? It’s because there is a worldview out there, which for want of a better term, I call “PC MC” (Politically Correct Multi-Culturalism). I don’t call it “Leftist” for the simple reason that millions of non-Leftists seem to share in the shibboleths and axioms and givens of PC MC whenever the discussion turns to Islam.

Encouraging aspect is that there is a plethora of information out there in regards to criticism [facts] about Mohamedism.
Also encouraging is the fact that the more information is out there, the harder it is for Mohamedans to defend.
Testimonies of former Mohamedans escaping from this ideology AFTER they have read and understood the texts that are to be revered is proof that the Koran is the best weapon to use against itself.
Mohamed laid a trap for himself when he wrote the Koran. I don’t think he thought that this would be found out as few could read and fewer still read these books. The trap: Mohamed claims in the Koran that the Torah and the Bible are true and correct, uncorrupted. The Torah and Bible prove that the Koran and Mohamed are wrong. This is a huge dilemma which has brought about the accusation that the Bible [OT+NT] is corrupt.
The Bible is THE most scrutinized book on the planet. Many, many people have valiantly and vainly tried to discredit the Bible, and have failed to do so. The Koran proves that the Bible is right. Bible proves that the Koran is false.

“The Inimitable Karen Armstrong, Or What The Ditz Dixit”
And Hugh, at much greater length, simply taking Armstrong to pieces. It’s a pity that McGill University, and St Andrews’ University (*the* St Andrews’, in Scotland?) could not have been supplied with copies of this *before* they covered their faces with (rotten) egg by awarding honorary doctorates to the egregious Ms Armstrong, who is the very definition of shoddy scholarship and outright mendacity.
Read this, and then realize just how AWFUL it is that two separate universities have given Ms Armstrong 1/ an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity and 2/ an Honorary Doctorate of Letters. It’s right up there on a par with giving Yasser Arafat a Peace Prize.

Alarmed Pig Farmer says
Both. As in medicine, in ideology there can be a multiplicity of conditions in a sick organism, and Esposito is one sick organism. Bet he has a nice house, though. And that’s in the country’s richest city, where they produce a product with a 100% net profit margin: U.S. taxpayer dollars. John fits right in with that sick environment.

John Esposito is nothing but an academic WHORE, payed by the Saudis, and doing what ever tricks he’s told to do.

I’ll bet that Esposito lives very well off. Along with centralized big government in Washington, all the NGO’s, and K Street organizations also flourish in that city where influence is for sale. It becomes easy for all the cronies of big government and their associated media allies to bring their influence throughout the country, to our schools, our universities, and directly into our living rooms and homes. This centralized power leaves the door wide open for the Saudis and all the other foreign government money destined for this purpose to roll in to these people while we sit in our easy chairs reading their material or watching them on TV. They even help educate our children. It is called “buying influence” or “public relations”. This influence money pays for specialized people to reach out to each and every one of us. They are often called “opinion makers”. They are at work every day on TV and every other conceivable kind of media but they often hide their real MO from us. We easily forget what they are doing to us. I am sure academia is full of these people since they train these people to do what they do. These often despicable people operate in the shadows because if we knew who they all were, their influence over us would be nil.
I am sure that everyone knows of this kind of business but it doesn’t hurt to be reminded.

Yes; what would a Dastardly Cabal of Leftist Elites be without a mass of Sheeple? That’s one variety (perhaps the most common) of a rather dismal form of pop gnosticism I’ve noticed pop up more and more in the Counter-Jihad, vaguely alienated from the “They” who control our crummy lives and who seem to function almost as equivalents to Paul’s ἀρχάς… τὰς ἐξουσίας… τοὺς κοσμοκράτορας τοῦ σκότους τούτου… τὰ πνευματικὰ τῆς πονηρίας ἐν τοῖς ἐπουρανίοις (“…principalities… powers… the rulers of the darkness of this world… spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12)) — if not literalstically so among certain modern evangelicals.
spot on says
Voegelinian, I like your comparisons especially your statement “where would leftist be without a bunch of Sheeple”.
The science of public relations has progressed well over the years. If you were the mayor of a large city and wanted a new baseball stadium paid for by the taxpayers, you might hire one of these consultants to get taxpayers and legislators all believing this is a great idea. It just takes the right words and money. There are people that know exactly the best way.
The same methods work with Marxists or foreign Islamic governments wanting to get our minds right about how Islam is a “Religion of Peace”. Just look how well it has worked in Europe where the “Sheeple” are now inviting Muslim wolves to come ahead and rape, murder, or subjugate them and their families.
Don McKellar says
“I owe my Lexus and my career to the Ayatollah Khomeini.” – John Esposito in a 2005 interview. http://www.campus-watch.org/article/id/2118
And he owes a whole lot more to his Saudi masters.
As for him being a moslem, we can use the same test we can use for Obama. Has he ever said that he is not a moslem in an interview? I don’t know, I haven’t the time to read a piece of shit’s interviews. But I’d bet he never actually says that he is not a moslem and only quickly says that he is a Christian. Because that’s an acceptable way to practice taqiyya and not renounce your moslem faith by saying the words: “I am not a moslem.” For those who do not know, moslems accept Jesus as a prophet and have no problem saying “I am a Christian” if it serves their purpose to deceive.
voegelinian says
“As for him being a moslem, we can use the same test we can use for Obama. Has he ever said that he is not a moslem in an interview?”
We should apply Ockham’s Razor before we conclude with Mohammed’s Sword: Given that the entire Western Mainstream whitewashes and often even praises Islam (out of thousands of examples one could cite of this, think of Republical Presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, who almost as the smoke was still clearing from 911, gave a speech in which she nauseatingly praised medieval Islam’s wondrous contributions to Mankind), one would then have to examine all of Esposito’s statements on the subject to see if they rise above the level of the PC MC norm.
From there we may also consider that there are different types of Western Whitewashers:
1) the garden-variety PC MC, who can be Left, Right, Center, Christian, Jew, Atheist, Wiccan, Buddhist, Gay, Straight, Bisexual, Male, Female, Black White, Brown, etc.
2) the Leftists who veer closer to the flame of Islam in fascination of its seductive anti-Western rhetoric which appeals to the Western Leftist’s own cultural self-hatred, but to whom we cannot yet impute evil
3) the tiny minority of extremist Leftists who actually consciously lucidly champion Islam (though some of them may not be fully candid about it yet) knowing its goal of destroying the West – to whom we can indeed evil
4) the strange hybrid of #2 and #3 whom we may term the “Proactive Dhimmi” – one step short of taking the Shahada plunge; hoping to earn extra credits from their Muslim Masters in the hope that when the Caliphate takes over, they will be rewarded for all their loyalty and perhaps given a high administrative post (as many a Christian, Jewish, Hindu, or Zoroastrian Dhimmi was throughout the history of Islam’s millennial Caliphate).
Esposito seems to fit #4 best.
voegelinian says
typo:
“3) the tiny minority of extremist Leftists who actually consciously lucidly champion Islam (though some of them may not be fully candid about it yet) knowing its goal of destroying the West – to whom we can indeed evil”
there should be an “impute” there

One does not know whether a muslim defending islam is on the level and simply being blind, using taquiyya, or in either case, being bought when discussing islamic relations with non-islamic. Since one expects a defense in most cases by anyone involved with something it comes down to islam being known by its actions. However, there are those muslims who claim that any terroristic acts by islamic upon nonislamic are about “some other muslims” who become radical but they themselves cannot show any real difference from those radicals except in the moment when acts are committed in jihad. The nonislamic faced with this reality is confused and cannot tell any difference then in the muslim claiming they are peaceful and one that is merely posing as the defender of islam and who will be the next one supporting or carrying out jihad.
For muslims who continue to pursue defensive support of a peaceful islam and do not address their problem of believability with any action, it only exacerbates the problem and leaves nonislamics with no choice but to view islamics as a group not knowing whether they will show support of peace or show support of jihad. Its really the islamic move to change this, and though the West wants to see peaceful action, especially since muslims are coming to the West, it should be more about islam demonstrating goodwill as their true intention. This has not been the case in a large part and the lack of such actions of peace will only continue to convince the West that islam is not about focusing on peace and in fact is about focusing on jihad whether subversively or outwardly.

Thank you so much for publishing this interview w/ John Esposito. For me, it was perfectly timed; I’d found out much, if not all, of this info about him and Alwaleed bin Talal after I googled him upon being given a book of his to read; “another point of view”, my friend said. Not surprisingly, the book was liberally seasoned with treacle, and I posted a comment here a couple of weeks ago in the hope of getting more info about Alwaleed bin Talal, one of the richest individuals in the world. Looking forward to digging right in to the Comments here! Again, many thanks, Robert, and to those of you who responded to mine of last week.

Upon researching Alwaleed bin Talal, who funded Esposito, a Brooklyn boy, I came across this assertion that he is pro-Israel, and my bullshit detectors popped right out, on signal.. I believe it was in the “mission statement” sort of thing for that foundation or department he funded at Georgetown Univ. When I read it the first thing what crossed my mind was taqiyya?

Have you found that he has also kept his promise to you?”

Mirren, al-Waleed bin Talal *did* say this just hours ago. Here’s the story:
“Saudi prince al-Waleed bin Talal: In case of outbreak of Palestinian uprising I’ll side with Israel…”
http://www.awdnews.com/top-news/saudi-prince-al-waleed-bin-talal-in-case-of-outbreak-of-palestinian-uprising-i-ll-side-with-israel,-saudi-arabia-has-reached-a-political-maturity-to-constitute-a-durable-alliance-with-the-jewish-nation-to-lay-the-ground-for-a-peaceful-and-prosperous-middl
But it’s *not* out of any recognition that Israel deserves to exist, nor that Jews should live unmolested–but just that Saudi Arabia is feeling insecure about both Iran and the Islamic State:
“According to Kuwaiti Al Qabas daily, the flamboyant Saudi Prince and entrepreneur, al-Waleed bin Talal posited that his country must reconsider its regional commitments and devise a new strategy to combat Iran’s increasing influence in Gulf States by forging a Defense pact with Tel Aviv to deter any possible Iranian moves in the light of unfolding developments in the Syria and Moscow’s military intervention.
“The whole Middle-East dispute is tantamount to matter of life and death for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from my vantage point ,and I know that Iranians seek to unseat the Saudi regime by playing the Palestinian card…”
Asian Crusader says
This alleged comment by al-Waleed bin Talal is perfectly consistent.
It is becoming painfully obvious to the Saudis that they have bitten off more than they can chew in the Middle East while the hijra jihad in Europe is going swimmingly.
Also, we see once again that Palestinians are detested by ALL other Arabs. When the Palestinians cease to be useful, they will be swept back under the rug.

I’m surprised to see Esposito is still willing to show his face. But they say a good offense is the best defense. He accepts tens of millions of dollars from a known anti-freedom guy, but takes comfort that Rupert Murdoch did too. Esposito and his fake analysis stands as an indictment to the Catholic Church, but wait, they’re on the pro-Moslem bandwagon like him, so he’s got cover. And I bet the Jesuits at that hellhole of a college bought some nice things with all those petrodollars.
The only way to expose Esposito for the fraud he is, or for that matter Karen Armstrong and even Daniel Pipes, is to get their professorial “work” on the TV set, which can’t happen cuz the news entertainers are fully committed to the tiny minority of extremists one of the world’s great religions one of the three Abrahamic faiths fiction.
ECAW says
APF – It jars to see you call Daniel Pipes a fraud, or an arch dhimmi as you did the other day.
He believes in a substantive distinction between Islam and Islamism and that we must rely on moderate Muslims, but no one’s perfect. He seems to me a brave and serious analyst of Islam. Just because I, with my superficial understanding of Islam, don’t agree with him doesn’t make him a fraud.
Unless you know more about him than I do….
Alarmed Pig Farmer says

Pipes has made a career of pushing Unicorns. There ain’t any. There are activists and tacit supporters, that’s it. Otherwise you’re an apostate to be put to death by beheading. What Pipes is selling is *the* barrier to the free world being able to come to terms with Moslems: that the whole Islam ideology is at its root destructive and unacceptable.
He’s a fraud because he’s never demonstrated that there is a moderate Islam. There can be no such thing, so I’m not calling him a dumbass, I’m asserting he’s a fraud. He’s spent decades trying to prove something that by his own work we know is not there, and he’s failed to admit that and keeps popping off like he’s an expert with answers; he is not. He’s pushing the pre-takeover stage of Islam as a permanent state that can be realized in the absence of Jihad in the name of the Cause.
To educate Pipes:
Fight until there is no God but Allah.
It’s that simple. He’s not a researcher or a scholar, he sells books and cashes payroll checks.

I agree with ECAW here, APF. I believe Dr. Pipes *is* far too optimistic about the possibility of a reform of Islam, but the man is a solid Anti-Jihadist, and a very brave one.
Robert Spencer has appeared with him in the past.

You’re right. We’d be better informed losers. Many of us Infidel subjects would be Dhimmis fluent in Arabic and able to cogently explain how our subjugation fits within the pattern of Islam’s 1,400 yr history.
Pipes has contributed nothing, zero, to forming a resistance to building a resistance to Moslem takeover, and acts as if the pace of takeover has not exponentially expanded in the last two decades. Background noise with a discordant theme.

Demsci says
APF, the controversy about Daniel Pipes is an old one.
I am open for your arguments of “no show of moderate Muslims in any significant way”. So Daniel Pipes solution of moderate Islam seems bogus and counterproductive.
But remember, counterjihadists are up against Muslims, Mainstream Media, Obama, Cameron, Merkel, who all declare Islam to be in many ways beneficial to mankind and innocent of the accusations of counter-jihadists against Islam’s teachings. I daresay a majority of people in democratic countries fall for this (lack of) interpretation of Islam. In which the extremists are called fringe groups who twist Islam’s message. You know all this.
My thought-experiment in response, in order to appeal to that political-correct majority is to ask 2 questions; I. Is a person to be held accountable for his/ her choice of religion or not? I think the answer should be yes.
2nd question; Is Islam clear or irresponsibly vague?! I think it is very VAGUE. I know almost all Muslims and counterjihadists as well have the opinion that Islam is CLEAR. And the counterjihadists interpret Islam as definitely anti-Democratic, more so because Muslims are supposed to put Sharia above any and all contradicting human laws, including the Constitutions of Democratic countries.
But I am sure a very good case could be made that Islam is VAGUE, and dangerously, threatheningly, detrimental, irresponsible, even criminally so. My argument would be the multiple very contradicting interpretations of key Islam tenets all over the world. Ranging from extremist to moderate.
But to all democratically inclined people we can point to the hundreds of millions of Muslims with clear anti-democratic beliefs, interpretations from Islam, such as the caliphate, deathpenalty for apostasy, unequal treatment of women and infidels before the law. As a danger.
But no longer as something clear in Islam, which for political correct reasons is denied in a big way, but as something irresponsibly unclear but influential and dangerous, to our laws, system, way of life, high values.
And we know that the basic texts of Islam have not been Updated for one iota in more than 1000 years. How can such basic most important texts (and rather small) then NOT BE VAGUE, OBSOLETE, INCOMPLETE, MULTI-INTERPRETABLE???
My plan would be to declare Islam irresponsibly unclear BUT the choice of Muslims in Democratic countries, and Muslim refugees toward them, and that that choice itself can be declared crucial for denial of citizenship of democratic countries.
My reasoning is elaborate, but based on Muslims choices to live somewhere and still adhering to such an inherently irresponsible vague multi-interpretable religion for which hopefully finally democratic majorities and thus parliaments and governments hold them accountable.
Demsci says
APF, If only counterjihadists concede Daniel Pipes’point that on principle multiple interpretations of very vague Islam, or many of it’s key tenets, are possible,
then they might be able to reason with and appeal too all those kind-hearted, often clueless Westerners-majority and those leaders, like Cameron, Merkel, that cater to them for their votes.
As I am totally committed to democracy I think it should remain the goal of all democratic people to protect democracy only by getting a majority of voters of democratic countries on our side for defensive measures at all costs (the politicians will follow the voters). Daniel Pipes may well help counterjihadists for that goal.

Basically yes. It’s worth talking about.
Esposito is getting boxed into a corner and has no way out. He has no forward path.
He is forced to try and go forward, but it’s all gonna be a failure path. From now onwards there can be no success path for his political program.
Fact is, the word is getting out. I have real objective stats on this. From the front lines.
The narrative for Islam is getting broken all over the map. This is true in a number of ways and for a number of reasons. I have been doing lots of social media trench warfare and Dr. Esposito and CAIR et al can do absolutely nothing about social media. The more apologist type orcs fight online, the more they get crushed. Social media is a total lose-lose scenario for the bad guys They know it too..
The general public needed a couple things for the message to sink in. (1) A real Middle Eastern crisis. (2) Actual marches of a million migrants pushing their way into Europe. (3) Many horrific stories from Islamic State ( since Boko Haram didn’t quite register ). (4) A huge social and political crisis in Europe like we’re gonna experience in 2016. It has already begun, and has already reached the top levels of European “leadership”.
Oh man this is all gonna get so comprehensively ugly. All over Europe, and all over politics everywhere. From here on out, all politics will be risky and hellish. The only situations or possibilities to consider now are really painful.
And everyone gets to see in particular that Islamic State is in fact 100% pure Sunni Wahabi Salafist bloodthirsty jihad + Sharia. And Robert Spencer wrote the book! People are gonna read Spencer, not Esposito. So, Esposito knows he’s lost.
In short, it’s crunch time, the game is up, the Russkies and the Pentagon are both flying over Syria and World War III has officially begun. The new normal is mounting chaos and struggle. And to me, this screams Teachable Moment and paradigm change. The Esposito type story line is gonna fall down just like Vizzini in The Princess Bride.

I posted on Lee Rigby just after he got nailed. And on Rotherham and related scandals. Also on UKIP, Euroscepticism and Nigel Farage before your last elections. Tho recent past, it seems like another time. So much dirty water under the bridge.
Yesterday I posted to the big Google+ European Politics group ( N > 13K ) on the unraveling of the European common political program. That post was taken down in a few hours. Sorry to say that brushing aside news of the deep rift does not bridge the grave political divisions in Europe.
One more I lose to a stupid troll moderator, no doubt a Brit. Troll moderators are my biggest nightmare. I take a lot of hits that way. Yeah I mind the gap. All I can do is stand for what’s right and look after what’s left, and try to find a way forward.
Social media work is a tough game. And politics are already pretty brutal. But when unarmed fathers are run off the road and hacked to death with cleavers, then comes the time to draw swords.
In particular that sword named “ken” by the Japanese, the Sword That Protects Life. Not the sword that threatens life. That’s different.

No quarter asked nor given. Just trial by combat. I know how to fight and carve people down with words. For the right reasons, of course.
There is no kindness in politics. It’s always about winning and losing. And sometimes the downward spiral into sheer bloody hell, with sociopaths and psychopaths and all that brutal criminal insanity.
Last year and this year we do see fierce and cruel orcs massing in the major cities of Europe. In London, Paris, Denmark and so forth.
The battle lines have already been drawn. Asymmetrical warfare has begun in earnest. This is the long slide into great social danger.
As Camus said, “We have nothing to lose but everything. So let us begin.” I will do what I can for the more or less “brave and happy few.”
And now under conditions that may seem unpropitious. But perhaps neither gain nor loss. For us there is only the trying. ( Four Quartets, East Coker )

They are hundreds and hundreds of millions. They are hungry and they are not afraid to die. We no longer know how to die or how to kill. We could preach, but Europe believes in nothing.

2) Camus is very close to my heart. Long time back I read The Plague and it so totally goes with 2015. Rats. Plague. Mediterranean. Existentialism. Courage. The core humanitarian ethic.
This book and Casablanca are two main reasons I take so PERSONALLY Nazi attacks on Paris. These formed my entire basic worldview and philosophy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Plague#Themes
“Tarrou lives according to an ethical code that demands that he act in a way that benefits the whole community, even though, in this case, he risks his life by doing so. Later in the novel, when Tarrou tells Rieux the story of his life, he adds a new dimension to the term ‘plague.’
He views it not just as a specific disease or simply as the presence of an impersonal evil external to humans.
For Tarrou, plague is the destructive impulse within every person, the will and the capacity to do harm, and it is everyone’s duty to be on guard against this tendency within themselves, lest they infect someone else with it…
The town Oran, which gets afflicted by pestilence and cut off from the outside world, is the equivalent of France. Camus draws from his own experience of isolation during the war in writing The Plague.[5]
The citizens are slow to realize the magnitude of the danger because they do not believe in pestilence or that it could happen to them, just as the French were complacent at the beginning of the war. ”

Indeed, hence why they’re changing tactics and eschewing direct confrontation of ideas in favour of Ahmed-like incidents, where they can take a victim of a religion-neutral situation and blame it on “islamophobia”, “bigotry” and/or “racism”. It’s the same tactic used by “feminists” and racebaiters trying to stay relevant. You got pulled over? Why, the police is misogynistic, or racist, or islamophobic, depending on the situation.

That’s all these carpet pilots actually have. All Tariq Ramadan can do is go on the offensive and appeal to basic decency, revealed Abrahamic tradition, and common values!. Yeah right.
He wants freedom of thought and expression and mutual respect IN THE SHORT RUN. And Sharia Law down the road.

I encourage everyone here to learn about Tariq Ramadan, whom I now call Taqiyya Ramadan. There are very good videos on youtube.
Three years ago I had not heard of him. He is my principal opponent.
I think EVERY theologian, public speaker and counter-jihad type should really study this guy. He has a PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of Geneva. He teaches at Oxford.
I think I can whip him. That would be a memorable six hour debate. I don’t think he would stand a chance. Robert Spencer argues politely. I am not polite. I am serious. I want to save western civilization. No quarter given nor asked. This kind of debate is all swordwork.

And this independence is so important…
It’s more than just law, it is a philosophy.
And this philosophy is definitely not only what is protecting not only the nonbelievers, not only the atheists, but also the religious minorities…
We are promoting a model of society where there is a place for everyone, where it is not a danger for the other.. including very religious people. Nigeria: Boko Haram has raped 12,000 women
By Ludovica Iaccino June 4, 2015 15:38 BST (c) 2015 IBT
At least 12,000 Nigerian women and girls are receiving antenatal and psychological care after being raped by terror group Boko Haram. . .
Some of the former captives became pregnant as a result of the sexual violence and most of them suffer from depression from the abuse. . .
Those who were rescued or managed to escape are receiving medical attention from donors and volunteer bodies. . “Security of lives of the displaced persons and the volunteers is very crucial and there are increasing fears that the insurgents may try to attack the camps”. . .
The news followed a statement by the UN Population Fund warning that at least 214 girls abducted by the insurgents and freed by the Nigerian army in May were “visibly pregnant”. In April, a report by the UN warned that groups such as Boko Haram use rape as a weapon of war.
…The UN Children’s Fund warned that some 800,000 children have been displaced due to violence by Boko Haram. Many of them have been separated from their families and are subjected to abuse such as rape and forced marriage. Some of them are also being used by the terrorists as combatants and for suicide bomb missions.

CAIR is a malignant melanoma on the debate about “good” and “bad” followers of Islam–it is the proverbial wolf in sheep’s clothing & I know from personal experience, having seen them in action up close and personal in a very special venue. I have treasured friends both Muslim & Christian from different countries in the Middle East and probably have a better understanding of the big picture than most Americans. CAIR is a divider and would-be conqueror of free discourse–everywhere, not just in the USA–on all subjects relating to Islam. CAIR’s attacks against Jihad Watch are the best indicator that Jihad Watch is doing what needs to be done and in the right way to protect civilization wherever it is still to be found in the world.

These types of responses are when you know that the opposition gets a little worried when facts and media are in disagreement. He has that sort of faraway look that reminds me just a tad bit like the brainwashed cult look. unfortunately many of those in academia do not really understand the nature of the beast that they are dealing with and many of them just go with the flow because of peer pressure. Cair of course paints a pretty picture on campus in most cases unless of course they are doing some righteous protesting and then out come the justifications for all the revelations of horror justified in the name of islamism.

Judging by the comments when Yahoo runs pro-Muslim stories (many of them cribbed from Huff Post), most average (non-Arab funded) Americans are onto the Islamic game. This gives me some faith in the intelligence of the public despite the best efforts of the media and our politicians to obscure the facts and mislead us into acceptance of the Death Cult.
Many in the military have seen the filth and perversion first hand. The percentage who are aware is increasing every day. At some point I think there will be a movement to name the enemy, denounce their goals and ban their fraudulent “religion” in this country.
Westman says
I’ve noticed the same thing Dave.
The comments are a better “poll” of reader’s attitude toward Islam than the news stories.
I listened to NPR for many years when it was reporting the truth in politics in comparison to MSM. Then something happened to derail the objectivity. Maybe it was the loss of government support, now relying on a small number of major donors that it fears to offend. In that sense, just like its fully commercial counterparts, the sponsors are in the driver’s seat. Now NPR is leftist drivel.
I think that the end of Islam has begun as its Ideology continues to loose respect in the world because of its attitudes about women, parasitic economics, and its doctrinal supremacism without supporting acheivements. What Islam does is thundering so loudly in the world’s ears that we can no longer hear anything virtuous that it claims about itself.

TRUTH. At least, it is 97% true. I checked on this again just a few days back: nothing.
The Bigtime Feminist betrayal of women and human rights and Africans and abused girls in England and so forth is utterly breathtaking.
It is the greatest betrayal of the human rights movement in the last hundred years.
There is No Excuse. There is only shame and more shame for these complete hypocrites and pseudo-humanitarians.
The official or professional “feminists” are pathetic, irrelevant, cowardly, and utterly worthless. I have in fact huge and very objective feminist credentials. I get the job done. They need to get to square one.
Girls and women in ever greater danger now. It’s that simple.
And you or anyone can give these Vichy Feminists my scorn and utter contempt.
I’ve been too busy on the front lines to humiliate these so-called feminists for their cowardice and worthlessness, but I promise to do so.
After the Boko Haram abductions last year there were no more excuses to be made by anyone calling themselves feminist.

So glad to read your optimistic message, DaveJ, and the equally uplifting response of Westman. Earlier I read Kay’s assessment of the chances of success and failure for Muslim Apologists in the Social Media, where “the more they show up, the more they get crushed”, very heartening.
My main worry really for a long time is the maddening attitude of so many “normal people”. In their ignorance, out of a desire to be nice to outsiders, strangers and of course charmed by Muslims and anti-American leftists, who, it seems, prefer Muslims over people of their own Western culture (something which they do not seem to appreciate or even understand, let alone believe in, any more).
And I am glad to see rays of hope, of change and I too pray you are right!
My thought to help this along was to declare, not that Islam is clear, and that it is clearly bad. Because this conclusion the majority of Westerners is still reluctant to draw. So we may consider giving up that uncompromising attitude.
But that on the contrary; Islam is VAGUE, irresponsible so. It get’s interpreted very bad, anti-democratic by far too many of it’s interpreters and followers. Coming from this respecting but still effective conclusion about Islam, we then can speak reasonably about the problems of worldwide, enormously widespread, anti-democratic, dangerous interpretations of Islam by it’s followers.
This anti-democratic INTERPRETATION of Islam is something the political correct cannot deny, whereas they are still capable of convincing the masses that Islam is CLEARLY anti-democratic. Well, the next best thing is that, OK, Islam itself may be interpreted both bad and good, we give them that,
BUT it’s very vagueness makes adhering to it in a democratic society a CLEAR irresponsible choice because of the danger of bad interpretation.
Demsci says
Typo; I meant to say that the political correct people are for now still capable of convincing the majority that Islam itself is not bad! That somehow “extremists” twist it.

JihadWatch never vilified or demonized Islam, the Muslims do that themselves and they’re really doing a good job. JW only exposes Muslims’ evil doings and it’s good that other media outlets follow suit. Fear of Islam was never a phobia but a rationally justified fear. How can anybody in their right mind not be afraid of a bunch of savages who believe that a mass murderer, pedophile, robber and impostor is the best human being that ever lived on this planet and needs to be emulated in all his doings? The self-appointed prophet is the perfect role model, indeed.
Thank you Robert for keeping us informed, that’s what we need.

The bottom line is that the liberal media whether in acadumbia, dhimmicratwood,or progressive news outlets are being exposed for their biases more than ever and they are now trying to pretend that republican conservatives are just “making this stuff up” and increasingly critically thinking audiences are seeing exactly what is going on for example with the gop debates. I say this is great news for all this diversion and stress by the left as it shows the effect of conservative media, such as this site, that is ever growing and welcomed by the public.

Priceless ~ coming from Esposito!!
At least he throws back to the original meaning for Islamophobia.
Which has crept into a force for the imposition of the sharia.
Likely the term had to move on.
Irrational fear implies partial insanity – it’s a hard case to make that people are insane after watching one of these ISIS videos – with people praising and owing their actions to Allah. Reciting Koran chapter and verse.
Are Muslims quiet – we can hear them clearly when they want to replace everyone else’s food with – that prayed over in the name of Allah and made halal. Whenever they wish to impose Islam on the wider population – we hear them!! On IS not so forthright.
::
Can’t blame the Saudis for trying. With possibly billion$ strewn about the academic world – the western news media who rely on the academia’s findings are lapping this stuff of Saudis’ up like milk. But at the same time – there is still the news – that needs reporting. And it is here where people make up their own minds. And Saudi Arabia isn’t exactly making to easy – while their propaganda machine goes into overdrive to tell us ISIS has nothing to do with Islam – they continue with their frivolous beheadings and crucifixions themselves.
::
I think Esposito’s aim – or one of them – was to establish that political Islam could function in a democracy. Enter Dalia Mogahed and the support for the Muslim Brotherhood – which fell flat at least in Egypt – and suspicions were raised in the region about the group’s new found friends in the west – it has as has all of its off shoots – including CAIR – been designated terror organisations by the UAE.
Oh well!!
With people in Islam who want to reform it – called “Islamophobes” – by CAIR.
Islam is in no position to have it all. And it never did. In all its history it made capital on conquest – of more powerful nations. And hence their new obsession with the west.
::
The blogs are a necessity – imagine having to listen to the likes of Saudi funded Esposito. Democracy stemmed from the Ancient Greek marketplace or square – where everyone could have a voice [hence their success] – perhaps Esposito believes this model should somehow be changed.

Re: “Saudi Arabia isn’t exactly making to easy – while their propaganda machine goes into overdrive to tell us ISIS has nothing to do with Islam”

And the key point is that Saudi Arabia is the main driver for Islamic State.
Saudi Arabia set up Islamic State to take out the Shia in Iraq and the Alawites in Damascus / Latakia. And the Sharia court that runs Islamic State is all Saudi religious scholars. The vicious bloodthirsty sons of female dogs.
All Saudi money is blood money.
Their program is religious fascism, Wahhabi and Salafist style Sunni fascism.
The Turkish deep government and Erdogan are also proven fascist supporters of Islamic State. The Erdogan people have murdered many civilians near Damascus to make al Assad look bad. They care nothing for human life, not even the lives of Sunni Arabs.
These people are all Nazis. Doesn’t matter what they look like.
And somehow counter-jihad and opposition to this declared and irredemmable religious fascism is labelled a “bad thing” and “anti-social.” So, gotta get the real word out. Our cause is justice itself.
I think we’re winning now. It actually feels like we’ve turned a corner somehow. That’s largely intuitive, but I actually have a good feeling about this. The false and evil narrative is breaking up, and the apologists seem to be retreating. I smash them and they go silent.
Over 240,000 lives have been lost in Syria, and numerous Islamic countries are destroyed by Islamic civil war. And there are now 14 million refugees. Their stuff doesn’t work at all, does it? Islam is no inspiration to a pure life, Islam is the gateway to hell.
