“Recalling Davutoğlu’s remarks that the security forces had a list of suspected suicide bombers, Kılıçdaroğlu asked if the attackers in Ankara were on that list. ‘He says “we have a list.” I want to ask Davutoğlu, were those two suicide bombers on that list or not?’ Kılıçdaroğlu said in a live interview on CNNTürk news channel. ‘If they were, this is a much bigger disaster.'”
Indeed. Much, much bigger, especially in light of the Erdogan regime’s notable foot-dragging regarding fighting against the Islamic State.
“Two suicide bombers in Ankara Massacre identified,” by Arda Akın, Hürriyet Daily News, October 14, 2015 (thanks to Joshua):
The two suicide bombers who perpetrated Turkey’s deadliest terrorist attack ever on Oct. 10 in Ankara have been identified, with one of them an Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) member whose brother killed 33 people on July 20 in Suruç in a separate bombing.
One of the pair was identified as Yunus Emre Alagöz, who was sought for being a member of an ISIL cell from the southeastern town of Adıyaman. Alagöz is the brother of Şeyh Abdurrahman Alagöz, who was the suicide bomber of the Suruç attack on July 20 this year in which 33 people were killed.
The second suicide bomber in the Ankara Massacre, which killed at least 97 people and injurerd hundreds more, was identified as Ömer Deniz Dündar. The man’s name was also on a list of 21 suspected suicide bombers.
Dündar’s father, identified only by the initials M.D., said his son went to Syria in 2013 and returned to Turkey after a year, only to travel back to Syria eight months later.
M.D. said he had warned the police about his son, out of concern that Ömer Deniz would undertake illegal actions.
“I filed a complaint against my son. I said ‘put him in jail,’ but he was released after being questioned. Eight months later, he went to Syria,” he told Turkish daily Radikal.
M.D. said he had not been informed by the authorities about his son being one of the suicide bombers.
Two bombers arrived in Ankara from the southeastern province of Gaziantep in separate vehicles with the help of a spotter identified as Y.Ş. The owners of the cars and Y.Ş. were detained in Gaziantep.
Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said on Oct. 12 that Turkey had a list of suspects who may carry out suicide bombings, although he invited incredulity after saying that, because Turkey “was under the state of law,” the government could not detain any potential suicide bombers until they detonate themselves.
In contrast, Turkish police have frequently used laws regarding “reasonable doubt” to detain people in advance of demonstrations.
Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said Oct. 13 that the responsibility for the massacre was on the government’s shoulders.
Recalling Davutoğlu’s remarks that the security forces had a list of suspected suicide bombers, Kılıçdaroğlu asked if the attackers in Ankara were on that list.
“He says ‘we have a list.’ I want to ask Davutoğlu, were those two suicide bombers on that list or not?” Kılıçdaroğlu said in a live interview on CNNTürk news channel. “If they were, this is a much bigger disaster.”
According to a list of potential suicide bombers that was circulated widely on the Internet before the identification of the suspects, both Alagöz and Dündar were on the list….

We call them “muslims”, other muslims call them “hypocrites”.

Man this whole episode puts Recep Erdogan in a tough spot. First he publicly calls for adherence to the Holy Ko-Ran, then he’s rewarded with just that: a mass murder operation leaving 96 corpses in its successful wake. I’ll give Recep credit, though. From the start I was convinced that he’d pin the job on the Kurds and start giving angry speeches on TV about how Kurds are turds and the like. But no such luck. Probably doesn’t rhyme in Turkish anyway.
