A MEDICAL student accused of terrorism offences led a double life, a jury heard today.
Prosecutor Richard Goddard was giving his closing speech at the trial of Yousif Badri, 29.
Badri denies two charges relating to the downloading of material including the al-Qaeda training manual.
Urging the jury to return a guilty verdict, Mr Goddard told the High Court in Glasgow that none of Badri’s family and friends knew about these activities.
“That was part of his life he kept as a closed book. For a number of years he kept it a secret,” he added.
Mr Goddard said it was a crime to collect “information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism”.
“There is no need for the Crown to demonstrate Mr Badri had any intention to commit acts of terrorism.”

Mr Goddard said: “If you were doing this for the best of intentions what’s the big secret?”…
