Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Vatican Synod: Syriac Catholic Patriarch appeals to West “not to forget the Christians in the Middle East”

Oct 8, 2015 4:20 pm By Robert Spencer

Syriac Catholic Patriarch Ignatius Ephrem Joseph III Younan is not the only one. “Why, we ask the western world, why not raise one’s voice over so much ferocity and injustice?” asked Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, the head of the Italian Bishops Conference (CEI). The Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarch Gregory III has also said: “I do not understand why the world does not raise its voice against such acts of brutality.”

Here is why: “Talk about extreme, militant Islamists and the atrocities that they have perpetrated globally might undercut the positive achievements that we Catholics have attained in our inter-religious dialogue with devout Muslims.” — Robert McManus, Roman Catholic Bishop of Worcester, Massachusetts, February 8, 2013

That’s right, it’s all for the sake of the spurious and self-defeating “dialogue.” Bagnasco should ask his colleagues in the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. He should ask bishops like McManus, Kevin Farrell, Jaime Soto and others why they move actively to silence and demonize voices that tell the truth about this persecution. He should ask them why the U.S. Catholic bishops tolerated dissent from so many core Catholic dogmas for decades, but move as ruthlessly as any Grand Inquisitor to suppress dissent from the idea that Islam is a Religion of Peace, which isn’t even a dogma of the Church. He should ask them why they are abandoning their Middle Eastern brethren and keeping their own people ignorant and complacent about the jihad threat.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops is desperately corrupt and compromised, and needs a thorough housecleaning. But no such thing is on the horizon.

Vatican Synod

“Synod: the West must ‘not forget the Christians in the Middle East,’ says Patriarch Younan,” Asia News, October 8, 2015:

Vatican City (AsiaNews) – Three prelates spoke about issues from Africa and the Middle East in today’s daily press briefing on the Synod of the Family

Addressing the West, Syriac Catholic Patriarch Ignatius Ephrem Joseph III Younan issued an appeal “not to forget the Christians in the Middle East”.

“We are very concerned and alarmed about the situation of Christian communities in the Middle East,” he said, “especially because of the catastrophic trials families are going through, splitting up as they try to escape the living hell of Syria and Iraq”.

“We have hundreds of people held hostage by Islamic terrorists,” he explained. “Such a catastrophe has lasting effects.” Indeed, “We deplore the fact that we cannot convince the younger generation to stay where Christianity was born”….

Western governments have generally done little or nothing to protect the Assyrian church…the most martyred church in Christendom.

The Assyrians have been called ‘the Martyr Church’.

It is SHAMEFUL for the Vatican and all denominations not even to speak a word in favor of their helpless, persecuted Assyrian brothers and sisters! This failure is worse than any crime.

Yes, I just wish that countries like my own (Australia) which are – at least nominally – majority Christian would screw up their courage and use their intelligence and do for the Christians of Syria and Iraq what Israel did for the *Jews* of those and other countries.

*We* need an ‘Operation Rescue’, as Aussie journalist Paul Sheehan was actually brave enough to suggest.

An ‘Operation Magic Carpet’, an operation ‘Eagle’s Wings’.

Absolutely! It’s embarrassing how The West Cowers to Islam “The Religion of Peace”

It doesn’t help that The President of the United States of America makes this claim:

Obama calls for “rejection by non-Muslims of the ignorance that equates Islam with terror”

And let me guess Mr. President….

We need to get off our high horses, while hundreds of thousands are displaced from their countries, and or raped, enslaved, tortured, and murdered because they do not follow allah the father of all lies.

The leaders of the Western world including the religious leaders are largely silent about the global jihad against the West, and many of these leaders are actively aiding the jihad by bringing large numbers of Muslims into the West. Franklin Graham is one of the few religious leaders who has stated that we should stop allowing Muslims to immigrate into the USA. I wholeheartedly agree. We must do whatever we can to reduce Muslim immigration into the West, which means reducing chain immigration, ending the diverstiy lottery, and stopping immigration from most if not all Muslim countries.

I’m Catholic and I wish the Roman Catholic Church would take an uncompromising stance against persecution of Christians in the Middle East and everywhere else.

It’s a sad state of affairs when the Syriac Catholic Patriarch has to specifically ask the Roman Catholic Synod to consider taking a harder stance in favour of Middle East Christians. IMHO the Catholic Church should be doing this without having to be asked.

Islam is an existential threat to Western civilization and Christianity so the Pope’s calling for the West to take in millions of Muslim refugees is going to cause harm to Christians in the West. This Pope is a poor shepherd of his flock. This is not a “refugee crisis’ but a Muslim invasion.

Doing the right thing is fine when it fits with the new ethical regime, but it ain’t a necessity. They’ve already been forgotten. The boys at the Holy See have not literally forgotten them, but they’ve consigned them to may as well be forgotten, the Melkites and Coptics are something they’d rather not be reminded about. It’s tough to see this good man from Syria make his appeal, but he’s talking to deaf ears, yapping at a block wall, pissing in the wind. The policy alliance forged between Pope Frank and Prez Barack Hussein is solid; the Christians in the Levant must accept their role as fall guys, somebody’s gotta take the fall, and it is them. Hell, they don’t even rate as refugees, that exalted status is reserved for angry 28 yr old Moslem men. These are tough times; Pope Frank and Barack are tough men. So is Boris.

That specific portion of lumen gentium is deceptive (in English though it may be different in the original Latin) :

“the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Moslems: these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”

Depending on the which definition of “profess” one takes. The following two are relevant:
      1. to claim falsely.
      2. to affirm, e.g. one’s faith.

Hence, part of the sentence can be read as:
      1. muslims are those who falsely claim hold the faith of Abraham.
      2. muslims are those who affirm the faith of Abraham. This seems to be the default understanding for many who read lumen gentium.

The question then in lumen gentium is that is it possible that there are those who acknowledge the Almighty, but at the same time denied (knowingly or otherwise) the faith of Abraham – in accordance to both Jewish and Christian traditions?

This of course was never expanded upon. So, like many (not all, presumably) Vatican documents on faith, there seems to be a degree of ambiguity.

The Christians from the Middle East that I’ve met are generally not very politically correct. Some are scared when they’re there, so they say “all the right things”, but get them away from the area, and they tend to sound like “rabid” right-wingers. I sometimes need to calm them down, and I’m not left-wingnut myself!

I suspect that their voices are the last thing that the PC crowd wants to hear, and so they have no interest in seeing them come over here.

Right now, I wouldn’t feel safe long-term as a Christian anywhere in the Middle East except Israel.
Short-term, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt are probably safe enough if one has a low profile. Sad.

The west is secularised. It has a Christian heritage, but that’s pretty much as Christian as it gets. This is the result of a few generations worth of progressive (leftist) cultural and social indoctrination. In future, developing and underdeveloped countries will become the Christian world. Places like Africa and Far East Asia is where Christian churches are growing the fastest. In almost all parts of the western world, Christianity is contracting severely – realistically dying in some countries.

I *wish* my foolish, foolish government would offer every single one of its refugee/ asylum places to Syrian Christians – both from Syria and from Iraq. Indeed, if it was up to me, I’d somehow find room for you *all*. I’d rather have a million Syrian Christians than even 100 more Muslims.

We have let a few Syrian Christian refugees in, but not nearly as many as we could if we tried. We could use groups like Barnabas Fund, as well as the Syrian Christians who are here already (some have been here since the late 19th and early 20th centuries) to make sure we *did* get Christians and not Muslims who were pretending to be what they weren’t.

Here, to cheer you up a tiny bit, is the story of just one Christian couple and their two small children who somehow, by a miracle, have been able to find safety in Australia.

Peggy, a split is not necessary for we are the body of the church and those bodies were created by God, according to the Holy Scriptures we were created in HIS IMAGE! Embedded within this divine Image is our righteous attributes that will aid us out of this temporary quack mire. The danger with a planned split is that it would dilute the present tenets and eventually become convoluted just like Islam, which has been turned into a cafeteria styled religion.Their adherents pick out what is the most advantageous to them regardless what dangers are imposed to their souls.

Early in his papacy Pope Francis made mention that interfaith dialogue had its limits. Saying it is a tool to solve problems, but the “success to reach a goal depends on who you are dealing with.”

I’m sure the Pope has tried that approach and perhaps is trying another path to stop further bloodshed. However, it seems that he is going about his daily activities without regards to time spent without his concern…..for every minute of the day people are faced with tragedy worldwide which is being caused by the Muslim world. With no doubt, for evidence proves so!

In my opinion, I believe if Pope Benedict had remained in the papacy the ME dilemma would be less or even eliminated completely without vestiges of its existence!

How would this be possible….the truth is Pope Benedict is a man serving God and Pope Francis is serving man!

If only the present Pope would turn his complete TRUST to our Creator for answers the Muslim/Islam stalemate will diminish completely!

For your brethren who live in the east are in urgent need of your help, and you must hasten to give them aid. For, as the most of you have heard, ISIS has attacked them and have conquered the territory as far west as the shore of the Mediterranean and the Banyas south east beyond Mosul, which is called the (new) Arm of St. George. They have occupied more and more of the lands of those Christians, and have overcome them. They have killed and captured many, and have destroyed the churches and devastated the empire. If you permit them to continue thus for awhile with impurity, the faithful of God will be much more widely attacked by them. On this account I, or rather the Lord, beseech you as Christ’s heralds to publish this everywhere and to persuade all people of whatever rank, foot-soldiers and knights, poor and rich, to carry aid promptly to those Christians and to destroy that vile ISIS from the lands of our friends.

Even Crusades were not Tactical Move. Had they formed an Alliance with Russia and opposed the Ottomans, Ottoman Empire would not have expanded to Europe. Constantinople would not have been lost.
Now in the West Christianity is almost dead. Churches are turning to Mosques. Gay Marriage is legalised, though it is dead against Biblical Teachings.
The day is not far, that Vatican will invite Caliph to Occupy the Seat of Pope for Pope will Vacate the Seat for Caliph.
Vatican Vets the policy of European Countries who extend Warm Welcome to Jihadis coming with the Mask of Refugees. At the same time, they push back the Christians who seek Asylum there.

His Beatitude has been touring the U.S. and Canada for more than a month visiting parishes and speaking out against persecution yet I have only seen one new report on him.

Does anyone here know that the Syrian Orthodox Church, once called the Nestorian, is still under excommunication. I spoke with the Nestorian Metropolitan in Tritchur, Kerala,India about this. Since when has the Roman Church cared about some of its sister churches such as the Coptic, Nestorian and other small churches. It only cares for its own power base. Maybe it doesn’t actively help the rescue of Middle Eastern Christians because it wants the Muslims to eliminate them. What a horrible thought! But maybe true! Time to change directions Rome. Stop wasting time on birth control, celebate priests and other matters and resue your “separated” brothers who are bing decimate. Probably, however you will stand by as you did when Hitler was murdering the Jews.

      I think you got it.
Has the Catholic church ever helped any other Christian denomination? The Vatican helped Nazi Croatians flee after WW2. They gave them safety in the Vatican and then helped them escape to Argentina. The Catholic church did nothing about extermination of Orthodox Christians in the former Yugoslavia and even participated in the horror. Forced conversions to Catholcism for some and mass extermination for others.

Maybe because most Christians in the ME are not Catholic means that they don’t matter. It wouldn’t be the first time that the Vatican has turned their back on other Christians.

Has the RCC ever called for a Crusade to defend Christians elsewhere?

          Tell us about it.

My point was if they are not prepared to help a few Catholics in that region what chance do the non Catholics have of getting help from the Vatican?

I know for a fact that the answer to your question “Has the Catholic church ever helped any other Christian denomination?” is yes.

OK, I’ll take your word for it.
So have you read the article? There is evidence that this is not the only Pope who has turned his back on Christians. Even worse, sanctioning extermination of some he doesn’t like. Learning from history really helps.
Unless Catholics know what goes on in their name corrupt heads can get away with anything and smear the entire church.
