“I would argue that the disastrous invasion of Iraq, something that I strongly opposed, has unraveled the region completely and led to the rise of Al Qaeda and to ISIS.” That is true. However, it contradicts Sanders’ other claim, that climate change, that is, “limited amounts of water, limited amounts of land to grow their crops,” led to the rise of terrorism. If it were really all about fights over diminished resources, then these jihad groups would have arisen even without the U.S. taking out Saddam Hussein, no? In any case, if climate change has given rise to terrorism, why don’t we see Arab Christian or Yazidi terrorists? After all, they lived in Iraq and Syria alongside the Muslims. So why weren’t they driven by the lack of water and land to form their own terrorist groups?
It is astonishing that a man this deluded could be taken seriously as a candidate for President. But his view here is a mainstream Democrat Party position.
“Bernie Sanders: Climate Change is Directly Related To Terrorism,” by Michelle Fields, Breitbart, November 15, 2015:
Democratic Presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said on Saturday that climate change is directly related to terrorism.“In fact, climate change is directly related to the growth of terrorism,” said Sanders.
“And if we do not get our act together and listen to what the scientists say, you’re going to see counties [sic] all over the world…they’re going to be struggling over limited amounts of water, limited amounts of land to grow their crops, and you’re going to see all kinds of international conflict.”
Sanders said at the second Democratic debate in Iowa that climate change poses the biggest threat to America’s national security and to security of the world.
Sanders also argued that the growth of national terrorism and instability in the Middle East was caused by the invasion of Iraq.
“I would argue that the disastrous invasion of Iraq, something that I strongly opposed, has unraveled the region completely and led to the rise of Al Qaeda and to ISIS,” Sanders said.
When Sanders was asked his thoughts about Hillary Clinton’s vote for the Iraq war he added: ” I don’t think any sensible person would disagree that the invasion of Iraq led to the massive level of instability we are seeing right now.”
“I think that was one of the worst foreign policy blunders in the more than history of the United States,” hr [sic] claimed.

if ever there was a doubt that at 79 he is too old, or senile, to be President this statement has erased all doubts….
Pere LaChaise says
Bernie is NOT TOO OLD and is NOT senile. It’s a well-known fact that climate change in the Mideast has created epochal 8-yr long drought conditions that have driven peasant farmers there to extremities, and the callous unresponsiveness of Assad’s government led them to strong opposition. When people’s welfare is taken away, they become desperate and dangerous. This is a fact of anthropology and history. Many civilizations have fallen because of climate changes in the past and Sanders is absolutely correct in naming it as a globally-destabilizing force.
Your ideology is in adequate to such global issues and needs to change.
VRWC member77 says
Wow, you global warming Nazis are out in force tonight. You remind me of another left wing group that wants to force it’s ideology down everyone’s throat. I’ll let you guess that identity.
Actually you may even be a “stealth” Islamic supremacist. I tell ya, the stealthy sounding “pere Lachaise” really shows the spawning undercover genius capabilities of inbreeding. But you slipped a bit with the Assad critique.
Eric Bischoff says
Really Global Warming Nazis! It seems to me that the right are the Neo Fascists. Sanders is ahead of the curve and not well understood. He is absolutely right that there is a direct proven connection with the Syrian drought and the rise of Isis there. And therefore the Global Warming deniers are also responsible for not wanting to look at this and not seeing this coming. Bernie Sanders only needs to improve how he delivers his correct ideology so that people can better connect the dots and catch up with what the progressives have known for decades. The fact that you can’t even see his brilliance while your candidates are carnival barker buffoons also speaks volume in this discussion.

The witless Pere LaChaise does not mention why it was that Muslims were waging violent Jihad against us with 9/11, the Madrid Train bombings, The 7/7 London Bombings, and thousands of other Jihad terror attacks, all of which happened before his 8-year long drought timeline.
He also does not mention why in none of these attacks–or in the Sunni Jihad opposition to Assad–do the Jihadists mention climate change or drought as the reason behind their murderous savagery–just the tenets of Islam.
It also does not matter–as Robert Spencer notes–that we don’t find Arab Christians or Yazidis waging terrorist attacks.
Also, there is no drought in Europe–but that hasn’t stopped pious Muslims from mass murdering Infidels there–as just the night before last in France.
Peggy says
Australia has had many droughts lasting many years at a time. How many Jihadists have sprung up from Australia? Let’s not count the Muslims of late.
Farmers have been known to commit suicide because of the conditions on land but never turned their guns at others.
Now tell me again how climate change has resulted in Muslims murdering people all over the world? Did we have a drought in Europe too? How many went to join IS from Europe?
Tiredofstupid says
Pere You are absolutely correct. The tea party commentators that don’t read and get their science from fox news just don’t understand reality. Brace for ad-hominem attacks. Most don’t want to try to understand the synergistic and cumulative effects on the world from climate change. Jihad caused by climate change? Nope not at all, but you can bet that the jihadis are taking full advantage of the problems it is causing worldwide. What do they think is going to happen when the rising sea levels inundate Bangladesh and force 180 to 200 million muslims to escape the flooded country in fifteen to twenty years? Do they think they will just drown quietly? In chaos there is opportunity and the international banksters and big money muslim theocrats are taking major advantage. I predict that unless we all let go of the petty differences between us and get our shit together, the unholy alliance between the banksters and the theocrats will result in a few hundred thousand (or less) very rich owners and the rest of us will be the slaves and peons of the system enforced by the damned muslims. The banksters control the msm and t.v/cable info already and are trying to gain control of the internet also. If that happens you can kiss it goodbye. I obviously don’t agree with everything Robert, Pam, BNI, and others say but where would we be without them?
If you have a Ph.D. in climate science and economics please feel free to educate me where I am incorrect. Otherwise please patronize your local library and educate yourselves on whats really happening worldwide.
Wellington says
Do you have a PhD in climate science because if you don’t then it is hypocritical (and even a bit Orwellian) to demand that someone who is a skeptic of AGW (as I am) have a PhD in climate science before they can even state something about the climate, which I am about to do and it is this——-all contentions that man is dangerously and inordinately warming the climate are based on computer model projections and correlation studies, both of which have notorious track records for accuracy. AGW is the most massive hysteria of our age and there is no true scientific evidence for it as people with a PhD in climate science or a related field, people like Fred Singer, Judith Curry and Roy Spencer, have consistently pointed out.
I mention this because if man can get something so wrong as AGW, then it helps explain why man can get others things very wrong, for instance, the gross stupidity that Islam is a religion of peace and that it’s just been hijacked by a few extremists here and there. There is a connection between those who cry “Islamophobia” and those who simply dismiss any skepticism of AGW as not even being worthy of reply. It’s called closed mindedness.
Angemon says
Wellington posted:

I can only assume most people don’t understand how those model work and get a deer in headlight look when confronted with the words “scientist”, “consensus”, “computer” and “model” – if scientists who use computers to do models arrived to a consensus then it must be true.

Tiredofstupid,
Put the blame where it should correctly be put! It is not the “banksters” who are trying to gain hold of everything. It is the Islam/Leftist alliance that is doing so! The way to oppose their evil designs is to vote for someone who is anti-Sharia, anti-Left, and pro-Constitution. Currently there are few candidates who meet this criteria including Ted Cruz, however our best chance is with Ben Carson!
Shane says
Climate change does not explain why Western countries continue to accept mmillions of Muslim invaders who will destroy their new countries. Cowardly liberals twits like you and Sanders too gutless to blame Islamic jihad for all the killing and rapes in Europe. End all Muslim immigration into the West now!
Westman says
It would be fair to say that climate is a factor but only one factor in the migration to Europe. It would not be correct to say that climate causes violent Jihad. That belongs to Islam’s doctrines.
If Angela Merkel offered me the opportunity to live in Hawaii at state expense I might go.

LOL as deluded a statement as “the pyramids were used to store grain” carson.
Havent other world leaders already linked climate change to terrorism?
KnowThyEnemy says
I don’t think any sensible voter should care what Carson said regarding pyramids. First, he said this at a college affiliated with his Seventh-day Adventist Church. Church-speak can mean one thing to someone who takes it literally and quite different to the church audience.
Secondly, building of pyramids happened IN THE PAST, Joseph/Pharaohs storing grains also happened IN THE PAST! Creation happened in the past, evolution too happened in the past! Only the dumb voters care about the past. Smart voters want to know what the candidate says regarding issues in the present and issues related to our future (including future generations)!
What does Carson say regarding abortion? Does his explanation makes sense?
Carson says we should revive respect for human values and principles. Does that make sense? It does to me! What about you?
What is his stand on immigration and birth-right citizenship? Does his explanation makes sense? Is it practical?
What does he say regarding minimum wage? the border with Mexico? ISIS?
He said when an attack happens, people should charge at the gun-men? Does that make sense?
What does he say regarding gun-rights? What is his explanation? …. and so on!
And most importantly, how much does he know and respect the Constitution? Is he going to instill respect among people towards the US Constitution?
As long as voters get a satisfactory answer (from Carson) to these questions, why should it matter what he said regarding pyramids and grains? The pyramids and why they were built is not important (unless you are a fifth-grader)! The answers to above-listed questions is what is important!
Shane says
Terrorism is caused by devotion to Islam; ISIS and others like them want to emulate Muhammad the warlord, murderer, rapist, misogynist, liar, pedophile and slave trader who created Islam. Islam is a cancer on the human race and must be cut out of the West if Western Civilization is to survive.
Theodoric says
Sanders is totally wrong when he tries to say that climate change is the cause of Islamic terrorism, but Spencer, Geller, Andrew Bostom, and most other counter-jihadists are totally wrong when they say that climate change is a leftist hoax. James Hansen is no leftist. Spencer frequently challenges the Islamophiles to debate Islam. Well I challenge Spencer to a debate on climate change. But he will no more accept my challenge than the Islamophiles will accept his. This is a great weakness among the counter-jihadists and I don’t want them to have a weakness. That’s why I sincerely wish that one of them would agree to debate me. But they won’t. On this issue, they all have heads of lignum vitae. Impenetrable.
Noor al-Amriki says
Not sure if you’ve noticed, but this a counter-jihad site, not a forum on climate change. Not interested in that issue here. Robert has more important things to do.

I have read every single post on jihadwatch for several years now, so I know very well what the site is about. Angemon says
I don’t remember Robert doing it but I’ve seen a couple other contributors expressing their views on that matter.Still, not the main purpose of this site.
Doglicka says
Aww, you don’t want ‘Islamophiles’ to have that weakness? Well aren’t you just the moral one. When you’re finished sermonising to the rest of us ‘unwashed’, maybe you can not explain to anyone else, but rather, understand yourself that although CO2 has increased by over 50% since 1997 (biggest increase in history), the global temperature has plateaued.
There are less tornado’s, less cyclones and crop yields are through the roof throughout many parts of the world. The arctic ice sheet is the biggest its been for 10 years, and antarctica is the biggest its been in recorded history. Sea levels have not risen anything like predicted and in many parts of the world not at all, as can be seen at Fort Denisons tide gauge in Sydney and all along the east coast of Australia.
In short, you’re an ignoramus. Stick to your other religion buddy, the climate change religion is full.
Theodoric says
Doglicka, I never said I didn’t want the Islamophiles to have a weakness, I said I didn’t want counter-jihadists to have a weakness. Of course though, all the world’s scientists are ignoramuses. All the national science academies the world over have gotten it all wrong. The laws of physics that explain why CO2 acts as a greenhouse gas are wrong. Of course. The people who are right on this are just the same people who think the world is 6,000 years old. Of course.

This forum *rarely* addresses this issue …so rare, in fact, that this is the first time that I’ve run across the topic of climate change on Jihad Watch. Not saying that this topic hasn’t been raised before, by Robert, but this headline is a first, for me, and I’ve been reading (and posting) on JW for a little over 10 years now.
Of course Theodoric is free to read whatever he chooses, but what I don’t understand is why he thinks that Robert would want to debate this issue, when JW is about …islamic jihad. Hello!

FTR, CO2 is about 400 ppm now, depending on seasonal variation. It was well over 300 ppm in 1997. If CO2 fell much below 200 ppm the plants would die. The earth has undergone massive glaciation with CO2 higher than 3000 ppm.
CO2 is not a major climate driver, though the climate does change constantly.
vlparker says
It is a hoax. The climate has been changing since the beginning of time. There is absolutely no way to quantify how much, if any. human activity affects the climate. NOAA and other climate scientists have altered the data numerous times to fit their narrative. They have blackballed scientists who disagree with them. We have gone into and out of ice ages numerous times which shows there are natural cycles that affect the climate. There is absolutely no proof that human activity is affecting the climate.
quotha raven says
to vlparker – Everything you say is spot on, vl. One other point you don’t mention:
Those brilliant computer scientists who with propagandistic success built the models on which to prove “man-made global cooling,” then, just a few years later, “man-made global warming”, and then, when THAT failed to pan out or materialize, they came up with the wonderfully flexible and serviceable “man-made climate change” (the very words start me fuming).
In none of these models, however, was the EFFECT OF THE SUN factored in. It the sun was mentioned at all in consideration of cooling, warming or change, it was found to have “negligible effect.” …..YA THINK???
Does this strike anyone else as totally absurd and enraging? I’m no climate expert, but my dad was a meteorologist (weatherman) for the air force, and he told me twenty-five years ago that weather and climate have always done shocking and destructive and unexpected things, and that in his many years of observing the weather, this fact remains consistent and unchanging..
Cheers!

If you want to debate someone on climate change then I suggest you go to a site on which people are debating it. What are you trying to achieve here? If you don’t get anyone to debate climate change with you then our opinions are not valid of the subject we want to discuss?
Wellington says
I will take on your challenge, Theodoric. I will begin with these facts: 1) The oceans of the world through evaporation put out into the atmosphere yearly hundreds of gigattons of CO2. By contrast, mankind, from ALL of his activities, puts out about 8 gigatons annually of CO2. And yet we are to believe, we are told, that mankind is responsible for global warming. Actually, the variant of what the oceans of the world put out yearly of CO2 is at least 40 gigatons, a far larger number than the mere 8 gigatons that mankind is responsible for (and yes, I am aware that the seas of the world absorb much CO2 of what they emit but not everywhere, for instance the Baltic Sea area).
2) During the midst of the Paleolithic Era, some 400 million years ago, the earth went through an horrific ice age, much more expansive that the most recent ice age which ended with the Wurm (or Wisconsin) glaciation retreating about ten to twelve thousand years ago.. And yet during this Paleolithic ice age CO2 levels were 8-10 times higher than they are now, and yet we have been told by Al Gore et al. that CO2 causes global warming. Explain this, will you? BTW, I am already familiar with the pathetic excuse that the sun was in a lower state back then and this helps explain why CO2 levels in the atmosphere didn’t matter as much——something I frankly consider tendentious nonsense.
3) As Roy Spencer (author of “The Great Warming Hoax”), Judith Harris, Fred Singer and many other scientists have pointed out (and such scientists have been regularly described by Al Gore as “just in the pay” of the oil companies even though this is a calumny of the first order), if one is a skeptic of AGW, you can forget about getting government funding. In other words, and I hope you get at least this much, science has now been politicized, which is truly pathetic.
4) Temperatures have recently increased on Mars too. Last time I took a look there were no factories on Mars or SUVs. Rather, the sun, the real cause of global warming or cooling, along with the ocean currents of the earth, has waxed a bit lately, though not really since 1998, which is why no mean temperature increase has occurred in the last 18 years or so. Indeed, there is a high likelihood that severe winters will be the case for many years to come. Actually, such started back around 2007.
5) As many AGW skeptics have pointed out, the measurements of temperature in the atmosphere has been artificially inflated because most devices here have stupidly been placed in metropolitan areas where cement et al. can create artificial measurements.
Well, I could have provided much more, Theodoric, but I believe this is enough for now. One more point and it is this: Even if the AGW loons are correct about AGW (which they aren’t), for idiots aplenty to assert that AGW is more of a threat to mankind than is Islam is foolhardiness at its most risible. I hope we can at least agree on this. Your turn.

My tinfoil hat has just informed me, dear Wellington, that Mars is inhabited by a race of intelligent bipedal cats with hands who herd rats, mine minerals, build factories that produce UFO in which they regularly visit our planet, drive SUV’s, and use motorboats on the Martian canals. During our Little Ice Age, when their planet was also colder, they retreated underground, which is why they have escaped detention until now.

Good point! Any critique of Islam and its sick exponents needs to be decoupled from false notions like climate denial, a refuge of anti-intellectual crabbed rightwing tools of the oil industry. If we used renewable energy, who would be out of business? SAUD, Iran & Russia (also Mexico, et.al.) The current petrocentric global geopolitical arrangement places the Mideast at the center of the world, which is stupid in extremis.
It’s established now that SHell Oil scientists knew global warming was going to happen as early as the 70s. They strategized for it, to exploit warner Arctic summers and to avoid legal hassles.
To mock an intelligent voice is ill-adaptive and will not result in good decisions later. The moslems, supported by US & UK have created chaos and we are its victims. Middle eastern people all the more so. Wake up and smell the coffee: burning oil & coal has damaged the world’s climate.

I agree with Sanders, in a sense. Climate change has indeed had a profound effect on the Mideast, but it was the desertification that led to the growth of the Sahara over 3000 years ago, not to the past few decades, that had that influence. One could argue that the ancient drying up of resources led to hyper-competitive attitudes that were in turn reflected in the militarization of society, to militant religious ethics and to a paranoid view of outsiders. With the advent of modern science and modern methods of farming and soil reclamation, desertification could be reversed as it is being done by Israel, but that requires cooperation, not contention, even with infidels.
VRWC member77 says
Sanders is a demented fool, period. The idea of “climate change” pushed by the left is a concept that was invented by the Marxist de-growth movement that has no and never had, any factual scientific backing, period…….none. There is absolutely zero empirical evidence that increased atmospheric CO2 concentrations cause a positive run-away feedback warming effect……..zero.
Not only is Sanders a demented fool with regard to his midget minded Islamic Terrorism — “climate change” cause and effect idiocy, he’s also a dhimmi left wing Islamophbe because of his ignorance and fear of Islamic teachings.

jewdog–I don’t doubt that Bernie Sanders is a very caring person. It’s probably why socialism was attractive to him in the first place. Ever since the serpent tempted our mother Eve with wisdom while she was probably hungry, evil has taken legitimate things and desires and twisted them.
But since I mentioned Genesis 3, it seems that “climate change” always gets trotted out as a convenient excuse for the bad behavior of one’s political climate. It’s the Left’s way of saying, “The devil made them do it!”

Jewdog, the climate explanation of history only works to a point. Jews are not violent warlike people, nor are Arab Christians–although they live in the same environment as do violent Muslims.
In the same way, I remember years ago brutal Soviet Communism being “explained” by their experiencing harsh winters.
I bought this to some extent when I was a kid–then one day I realized that Swedes and Canadians had similar environments, and *they* weren’t running Gulags. Later I saw that Pol Pot was not much different from Stalin–although Cambodia could not have been more different from Russia climate-wise.
jewdog says
It should be clear from the Old Testament that the ancient Jews were very warlike indeed. Luckily, the Torah only frames that violence as historical description and not as an eternal mandate. Christianity arose much later and its peaceful nature reflects its relative powerlessness in relation to the Roman Empire.
Jeremiah says
God is Love. The Bible is the handbook of love. The Old Testament was a massive diversion from the normal evolution of spiritual thoughts to satisfaction of sexual fantasies, sacrificing children and so forth. The Bible describes the perversion and it describes the consequences. It also describes God’s mercy in those events. They are a warning of God’s judgement but they are not a command for anybody to kill beyond what God had ordered. This is different to the Koran, where the followers of Mohammad, the pedophile, are ordered to keep killing indiscriminately until all people submit to the will of men, rather than the will of God, through terror. The Old Testament is beautifully explained by Jesus. To those who have eyes, let them see that God calls them to be different.

Climate change that is at the base of all of the problems on earth exists only in the fevered brains of people like sanders.
Anything to keep from telling the truth. When I was still in grade school, we learned about the droughts in Africa and the way the people would try to grow crops on dead ground, cut down trees for cooking fires, which furthered the bad result of drought as what rain did come, washed away all of the top soil, and cutting of the trees lessened the chances of rain.
But, we didn’t hear that one or more groups of people were going about beheading everyone else and threatening to travel to western countries to wage religious warfare and make people worship their unholy book. There was a constant refrain of sending money and help so the people of Africa could learn what not to do and to plant crops that would help them.
This blaming the weather for the waging of islam’s war to conquer the earth doesn’t wash. Fools refuse to see the truth and tell the truth. And his hand needs to be closer to his face if he wishes to get in line with moslims and their fake god.
Dave J says
The fundamental problem is Islam but there are several factors fanning the flames, including oil money, Jihadi use of the internet and overpopulation/scarcity of resources.
Declaring the Koran to be an evil, incendiary book full of hate speech and therefore illegal would be a good first step in fighting Islamic terrorism.
Wellington says
My suggestion for a good first step, Dave J, would be having Islam, all of it, once and for all described by most everyone in the West, including the still overwhelmingly clueless Western elites, as a gigantic malevolence. This is the real “first step” that has to be taken. After that, Islam and the Koran wouldn’t have to be banned anymore than Nazis or Marxists, Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto, needed to be banned.
Freedom can survive without banning ideologies or books if truth prevails about what is evil. Not there yet.
gerard says
Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto didn’t need to be banned because Nazism and Communism (at least in USSR) were defeated, along with Japanese Imperialism. Nazism and Japanese Imperialism through military force and Communism through economic collapse.
Islam has not yet been defeated so we cannot yet allow ouselves the luxury of adding it to your not-to-be-banned list.
Wellington says
Huh, gerard, Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto were not banned in the USA during WWII or the Cold War respectively. Thus, you COMPLETELY missed my point. I mean totally here.
gerard says
Your point is that you must not abandon your ideals to protect those ideals. I get that. I’m not sure though that that was why Mein Kampf etc were not banned during WW2. There was just no point. Not many were interested in reading Mein Kampf and we were already at war. Similar with Communist Manifesto. Communism was generally already discredited in USA.
But were Nazi rally halls permitted? If there had been such halls preaching sedition would they not have been closed? Such rally halls exist in USA and Europe. They’re called Mosques.
I get your point but I’m not sure that you get mine. Fighting evil is not evil. Closing down a system that undermines all other freedoms is not to abandon one’s principles.
gerard says
Sorry Wellington if I’m becoming a bit of a “thorn”. Let’s continue the debate. pax.
Wellington says
Freedom, gerard, can tolerate enemies of freedom as long as the forces of freedom identity the forces of anti-freedom accurately. This was a main point in Thomas Jefferson’s Inaugural Address in March of 1801. Sadly, the “accuracy factor” is very rusty now and this helps explain why so many want to crush freedom all the while they think they are preserving it.
If the West, in the aggregate, identifies Islam for the spiritual totalitarianism which it is, there would be no need to ban it or its heinous texts. Freedom, real and informed freedom, which neither the former President of the United States or certainly the present one, have exhibited a knowledge of, would decimate Islam in the public forum. And herein lies the ultimate problem, to wit, the forces of freedom being stupid and ignorant.
By contrast, real evil, like Islam, Nazism and Marxism, stands no chance if the forces of freedom are informed and resolute. To date, sadly to say, they are not. Yes, indeed, the ultimate fault lies within and not without. And the collapse of one civilization after another stands as striking confirmation of this tragic verity.

Wellington says
Personally speaking, gravenimage, I am so tired of the rot spewed here at JW about banning Islam, banning the Koran or, a la voegelinian, mass deportation of Muslims.
People who propose this nonsense are not knowledgeable or helpful in the least. Indeed, they thwart the cause of freedom. If only Islam, by the West at large, would be looked upon as a kindred spirit of other totalitarian ideologies like Nazism and Marxism, no banning or mass deportation would be necessary. Alas, so many don’t get this and I, for one, am getting exceedingly tired of pointing out what should not be necessary to point out anymore. I know you get this, as do others like Angemon and Champ (not to mention Robert Spencer), but so many persist in a kind of willful ignorance about this as so many others continue in a general willful ignorance about Islam.
I don’t want to destroy liberty in order to save it. It is not necessary. It is stupid to do so. I do wish more would get this. Sorry, but frustrated to the max here and so I had to vent to someone who I know would “get” what I’m venting about. Ah, I’ll be OK by tomorrow after a good run and a couple of beers, but right now I’m not and that is why I felt compelled to write to you now. Take good care, my sage and knowledgeable friend.

“ If only Islam, by the West at large, would be looked upon as a kindred spirit of other totalitarian ideologies like Nazism and Marxism, no banning or mass deportation would be necessary.”
Wellington, how do you propose we make the West (and other non-Muslim societies) look at Islam “as a kindred spirit of other totalitarian ideologies”? The jihad attacks happen quite often and are thwarted even more often. However, before the people make any attempts to look deeply into Islam, the authorities and the media do a pre-emptive strike and declare that not only Islam has nothing to do with what happened, but that people should be keeping an eye out for right-wingers lest they cause hatred towards the ‘victim’ Muslims. And people actually fall for this trick.
So how exactly do you propose we make people SEE what they should be seeing?
Also, if people do somehow manage to see, what should they be doing next?
Wellington says
KnowThyEnemy:
By continuing without cessation to expose Islam for the totalitarian ideology which it is. This is how Islam will eventually be revealed for what it is, yet another totalitarian creed, and by just being Islam, which is to say that it can’t help conveying to the multitudes over time just how awful it is. Ironically, the best ally in exposing Islam’s true nature is Islam itself.
Just think about how many people now today in the West have a negative view of Islam who didn’t just fifteen to twenty years ago. I remember quite well in the first year or so after 9/11 when I posted at Yahoo or spoke to friends, family and acquaintances about how awful Islam is and was rejected by a significant number. For instance, some twelve years ago when I wrote something at Yahoo that was negative about Islam I might get six or so thumbs up and twenty or thirty down. Just the other day I wrote an excoriation of Islam and got something like 111 thumbs up and just 17 down. Family and friends who thought I was too harsh on Islam right after 9/11 WITHOUT EXCEPTION now have as harsh a view of Islam as I do.
People are catching on. The Western elites are the sluggards here and even some of them are beginning to get it. It will take time, though, as I have written before here at JW, for people en masse in the West to wrap their heads around the idea that a major religion can be rotten to the core, but it is happening. Of this I have no doubt. Perhaps it is not proceeding as fast as you and I wish it would but it is proceeding nonetheless.
As for what should be done next, after the “corner of corners” is turned, i.e., Islam looked upon as the iniquity that it is by most everyone, then you treat Muslims as KKK members, Aryan Nation adherents, Marxists, anarchists, etc. are treated, to wit, legally permitted to believe in the nonsense they do but prosecuted to the max whenever they violate the law in the name of their warped ideology (how refreshing it is to already see several state legislatures passing laws against the implementation of the most heinous aspects of Sharia). Also, ostracism, ridicule, contempt, derision and so on must be the order of the day. Humor is particularly important because the next best thing to crushing evil is mocking it. Make Muslims feel as marginalized as other losers. Freedom can tolerate this and survive. Ancillary initiatives like prohibiting any further Muslim immigration and actively encouraging Muslims to leave their faith should occur as well (many Muslims already want to leave their faith but are afraid to do so and thus safety measures for such people also should be put into place).
Islam has never been exposed to the scrutiny which has only just begun to occur. I predict it will not withstand this scrutiny. It will still take many decades and much suffering will still be the order of the day, courtesy of the worst religion of all time, but Islam is eventually headed to the trash heap of history. It is too stupid, too inflexible, too totalitarian to survive long term except on the fringes of society.
KnowThyEnemy says
Thanks for the reply Wellington. I think I agree with almost everything you wrote.
“It will still take many decades and much suffering will still be the order of the day, courtesy of the worst religion of all time,”
It appears to me too that people are only going to learn the hard way. However, I would not just assume that the eventual winner (by the end of this century?) would be Freedom. Islam can very certainly turn out to be the winner unless people wake up fast!
Jeremiah says
We can prevent further attacks by raiding mosques, jailing Imams and identifying those who teach the Koran. Then we don’t need to respond, we don’t need to fight it and we don’t need to defeat it. There is no reason for people to continue to live in fear except for Political Correctness. There is no need to fight all muslims, only those who object to the closure of mosques. There is no need to kill on a large scale, only those who are willing to defend Islam. It is Islam and its teaching which is our enemy! All this talk about trying to find terrorists is nonsense. All this fear is misplaced. Only Political Correctness can kill us. No need to “flag” anybody on a terror watch list. Bring them all in for questioning. Just close the mosques! The mosques contain the terror entire network that we are looking for. No terror network exists outside the mosques, so why are we avoiding mosques?

Was the muslim invasión of France in 711 AD due to climate change?
Was also climate change the reason for the Spain invasion?

Allan Mandrowski says
Climate Change is real whether we like it or not. I don’t agree with Sanders’ position that it influences these terrorists, it obviously doesn’t. They are influenced by jihadist aspirations and theological justifications.
Robert is an authority on exposing Islam and the menace it poses to our existence and civilizations. But, please do not tarnish that hard earned respect by dragging climate change into the debate and giving off the idea that you are a Climate Change denier.
When science tells us with an overwhelming majority that it exists and I, you and everyone else can witness it around us changing rapidly, then please just be as reasonable and logical with accepting Climate Change as that you are with exposing Islam.
VRWC member77 says
You sound like a global warming Nazi. I can personally rip into any “argument’ you want to make with regard to “climate change.” Where would you like to start?..historical CO2 concentrations, unreliability of ice core samples, historical hemisphere temperatures?
The fact that you use the term “climate change denier” exposes your leftist bent and more than likely, your just a leftist trying to stir up shit and derail the debate topic…………take a hike, global warming Nazi. We don’t like supremacist types here.
Allan Mandrowski says
Yes, I’m a leftist indeed. And one that actually disdains Islam as much as any other religion if not more. I’m not a cultural relativist, I regard our Western culture as superior over regressive ones like Islam. I want a stop on immigration too.
But, I also want climate change to be taken care of. Stop the polluting, rampant hyper capitalism which is destroying our planet by extracting all its resources and damaging our ozon.
Whether you like it or not. Climate change is real. An overwhelming majority of very very intelligent people (you know: scientists, the ones you and so many on here unfortunately despise, despite that they have multiple times the brain capacity than you and your friends) are in agreement that climate change is happening and is happening at a much faster rate than is good for us.
You know you don’t have to be anti-Islam and a climate change truther. There are enough of us who are anti-Islam and at the same time realistic about the very real dangers of the current climate change.
VRWC member77 says
1st You have no idea who I am or what I’ve studied with regard the global warming fraud which the de-growth movement started many years before Al Gore came on the scene to lobby for Enron.
2nd your statement ” also want climate change to be taken care of. Stop the polluting, rampant hyper capitalism which is destroying our planet by extracting all its resources and damaging our ozon.” shows your ignorance on the subject matter. Pollution has nothing to do with the concept of increased atmospheric CO2 concentrations and atmospheric warming. This reveals another point of idiocy which the left tries to hide in their “climate change” argument so as to obfuscate the issue when logic and reasoning comes into place.
Finally, you are the reason it becomes more difficult to get the truth out because if someone refers to themselves as a “scientist and does an interview with some left leaning media retard with no one to counter the argument being made, you just nod head like a SMH UPDOWN UP DOWN sycophant. That’s the problem with the left. They can’t think for themselves and you’re a prime example. Tell me leftist, what does the solubility of CO2 in salt water have to do with atmospheric warming? Can you answer a simple question like that? If you can’t then you should shutup and listen.
Lesley says
@Allan:
I think that climate change is a topic for civilized debate after we’ve eradicated the present and existential threat from Islam and the growing caliphate.
What would have happened during WW2 if the Allies delayed fighting the Nazis because they were focused on the environment? We may find out because that seems parallel to what is happening now…
I believe that we should be responsible guardians of our environment, but now is not the time to focus on climate change. Deny it as we may, we are at war.
If we keep living in denial, then we may have to figure out how to live day-to-day with nuclear fallout. ISIS wants a nuke to hurt us with– Pakistan has them; Iran… who knows. Their ideology directs them to destroy us.
Climate change is a concern, but it is a lesser concern than the war being waged against us right now. Western powers should have all hands on deck to win the war and only then should we be having climate change summits.
Allan Mandrowski says
Lesley, I actually agree with what you wrote.
Therefore all I am, and a couple of other posters I have noted, are asking is to keep the focus on Islam and its threat to our very own existence and Western culture and values. Because, this is what unites us. By dragging climate change into this debate, you will create division, because not everyone who is anti-Islam has the same views on other topics.
This is all.
VRWC member77 says
You want to keep the focus? Then stop exposing yourself with your pretentious global warming Nazi point of view and focus on ISLAM. The is another liberal on this thread doing just that. Follow her/his example.
Peggy says
Actually there is data showing that there has been no climate chance in the last two decades. Which evidence are you talking about?
Just because our media gives the scientists which sprook climate change scare platform and not so much the other scientists which don’t doesn’t mean there is an overwhelming majority of scientists that do.
Also, jobs are dependent on which way scientists think. We have seen how a minority gags majoirty on anything by slapping a label on them. Why would this be any different?
Last but no least, climate change is a natural part of this planet and to say that it’s man made is ridiculous. How did man bring on the ice age?
Wellington says
What an old fool Bernie Sanders is. Fortunately, since he has no chance of being elected President (but the mendacious, incompetent and corrupt Hillary does), he can be ignored or laughed at. Take your choice.
Allan Mandrowski says
Remember when nobody thought Obama could be elected. Don’t count Sanders out yet, and if it’s between Hillary and Sanders. I think Sanders would actually be a better president on foreign policy than muslim lover Hillary.
Wellington says
If Sanders is the Democratic nominee, which itself is highly unlikely, he would be slaughtered in the general election unless the Republicans totally implode. I would add that the skeptics about Obama back in 2007-2008 didn’t fully take into account how Obama’s race would be the sentimental reason above all reasons why he was electable (imagine Obama back in 2008 with only one difference—–he’s white, think he would have been elected still, ditto in 2012?).
Sanders can’t play this card. Besides, he’s an admitted and proud socialist. So was Obama back in 2008 and 2012 (and of course still now) but he pretended that he wasn’t. This is an ancillary reason why he was elected by the millions of fools who voted for him, Including way too many people who should have known better like Colin Powell.
Reuben Scratton says
While Sanders did say “terrorism is caused by climate change”, when he explains himself he refers to *future* growth in terrorism.
And that doesn’t seem quite so irrational.

Problem solved. So close Bernie and yet soooooooooo far away.

But what socialist Bernie forgets is that Muslim men have a legitimate property rights
that must be respected despite global warming..
Climate change is a serious threat to the Islamic hijab.
Unlike socialism where one is free to steal from the wealthy to give to the lazy, Muslim men with 4 wives do not want Bernie poking around on their “property”.
Climate change will force Muslim women to uncover, and Muslim men will have no other choice but to use branding irons on the rumps of the heifer haram wives to keep (what is mine is mine and what is yours is mine too) socialist Bernie away.
In a hot world Circle ‘M’ Branding irons are the only politically correct solution to coexist and express our shared value of respecting their legitimate property rights with our Muslim neighbors.
Allan Mandrowski says
This whole climate change will force muslimas to uncover is a load of tosh. Because if you havent noticed Islam spawned in arguably already the hottest areas of the world.

Folks, this is off topic but important. As important as our anti-Islam work is, IMO we need to put it on the back-burner for the next few months, and concentrate instead on the US presidential candidates for 2016. This is because the results of election 2016 are going to seriously affect the effectiveness of our anti-Islam work for a long long time. If we do a good job of selecting the right candidate, we very likely will come out victorious against Islam soon, will neutralize the evil cult, and can publicly relegate it to the same position as Nazism and Communism.
There are many corrupt and deluded leaders all over the world including in the US, and they will keep distracting people towards nonsense like “Islamophobia”, “moderate Muslims”, etc, or will play games like linking right-wingers and climate-change to terrorism! It just so happens that this time around in the US, we do have some very good Republican candidates. Hence we must take good advantage of this near-miracle and must evaluate the candidates thoroughly along with the pros and cons of their policies.
[[[ I think the left dominated media too sees that Republicans have some very good candidates, and is doing everything to make people drop the ball and simply fall for its own (MSM’s) propaganda. Here is the latest example from Washington Post. WP says Ben Carson “struggles to discuss foreign policy matters” and make it sound like he does not know what he is talking about. Yet whe we read what he said, his statements make perfect sense! WP is clearly counting on people to simply read the headline and conclude that Ben Carson is dumb regarding FP. And if people do go ahead and read the article, WP does the thinking for them and wants the readers to see how everything Carson said was stupid!
Below is the link. I challenge people to read it and point out to me exactly which statement made by Carson does not make sense!
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2015/11/15/ben-carson-struggles-in-post-paris-interview-on-foreign-policy/ ]]]
Sun Tsu said “know your enemy and know yourself and you will win the war!” Most of us have a fairly good idea of who the enemy is (Islam, Left), but not many of us are making the effort to “know ourself”! Who are we as Americans? What is it that we should be protecting from the enemy?
The biggest problem that I see with conservatives (and Islamo-realist non-conservatives) is that many are confused, and have wrong ideas regarding what it is that we should be protecting in this war. Some say we have to protect Christianity, others say we have to protect lives, yet others want to protect the white race, yet others judeo-Christian culture, yet others are concerned about Hispanics changing the American culture, gun-rights …..and so on and so on!
But this is exactly where people are not thinking deep enough! What we really need to protect is the US Constitution alongwith its principles and values. I repeat: The US Constitution is the primary, the most important thing that we need to protect! If the Constitution is safe and respected, it becomes a hell lot easier to protect our rights to life, to liberty, to own guns, to religion, to Free Speech, etc and many more rights. ….And the way to protect the Constitution is to instill respect (among people) for this document because without the respect, the Constitution is nothing but a piece of paper!
Watch the movie “The Fifth Element”! In the movie there is this girl who has great powers within her and can save the whole world, but she herself needs to be protected. Bruce Willis, the hero of the movie, manages to keep her safe, and at the appropriate time she uses her powers and saves the world.
The girl is the US Constitution and Bruce Willis is US citizens 🙂 We need to protect this very important document so that it can protect us from our enemies! It is THAT simple!
We should discuss more on this issue but I hope people here see the point that I am trying to make. If Hillary wins (and I am afraid she will) it would be the same as if Obama won the third term. We cannot afford that, and we do not have much time left! So let’s talk more about the candidates.
….. More coming soon.

I’ll just say that (like Bill Maher) there are liberals out there who are for gay rights, reproductive rights for women, equal rights and blah blah, and treating the earth gently without being the delusional maniacs that we see paraded in the media.
wordof mouth says
I don’t comment very often but I feel compelled to jump in to what should be an unnecessary fray.
First of all, Climate Change and the very real threat of Jihad are hardly mutually exclusive.
While Climate Change ( I’m a believer) very well may lead to conflicts down the road, to say it is a cause of terrorism, or more importantly, Jihad terror, is absurd leftist group think.
To Theodoric’s point, I have to agree. To me this is one of the most important websites on the net. But to the degree that it is perceived as a “Conservative” blog, only hamper the this fight. The struggle against Jihad and Islam is one that both sides of the political spectrum need to unite against in order to be successful. One of the reasons why many on the left have been so slow to see the light is because it has been so closely associated with the Right. Now this is on the liberals. They should be able to see the issue on it’s own merits, but this is reality and many can not.
I am hoping that the likes of Bill Mahr will become increasingly influential going forward. As he likes to say when being criticized, “I’m the Liberal in the argument” Instead of linking the fight against Islam to Climate Change denial ( be it correct or incorrect) or Gun Rights or Obama bashing let’s make sure the main link is to it’s Violence, Abuse of Women and Minorities lack of freedom of speech, intolerance ( we get to own that word, this shouldn’t be that hard!) of Gays etc.
Again, as a Liberal I find it very easy to argue our cause. I also find it infuriating to encounter the PC brainwashing that so many in my camp have on this subject. So my plea to Robert and the other leaders in this struggle is to not muddy the waters by bringing in unnecessary Conservative talking points ( now matter how valid they may be in their own right) as you run the risk of alienating a very large contingent of allies.
Allan Mandrowski says
I wholeheartedly agree, this as another liberal / leftist who is very realistic about the very illiberal ideology and religion that is Islam. Which needs to be treated as such and exposed for its incompatibility with western culture and values.
dumbledoresarmy says
Yes.
Let’s just focus on getting through about *Islam* to *everybody* we encounter, irrespective of what else we or they may or may not think about other subjects. They don’t have to agree with us about anything else (though on the fringes one does encounter and must confront or steer clear of the occasional old-fashioned out-and-out racist who thinks the ‘real problem’ is black vs white, or antisemite who thinks the ‘real problem’ is the Jooz and blames Jihad on ‘the Jooz’ – sometimes even to the extent of believing that somehow the Jews invented or are orchestrating he global Jihad; which nonsense is no different from people blaming Jews for the Plague, or whatever else has ever gone wrong with the world – they really *are* on the fringes).
I have a brother who is a red-hot atheist, and an environmental engineer who knows a lot about how the environment works and is very worried by what he sees; and is *also* at present blithely convinced that Islam isn’t anything much to worry about (except insofar as it is part of undifferentiated ‘religion as such’, which he views as generally bad).
As far as I’m concerned, right now I’m concentrating solely on trying to get him to recognise that Islam is uniquely and immediately dangerous; that a significantly large chunk of the Ummah *is* committed to pursuing Total World Domination and that both he and I – and the peaceful western country that we *both* inhabit and that we wish to survive and thrive, for our children’s sakes [he just had his first child] – are squarely in its crosshairs. I’m not trying to get him to change any of his other views; because demanding that people buy into some sort of ‘package deal’ – you must oppose Jihad AND also believe this and that which you currently don’t – is setting ourselves an impossible task. Getting people just to *see* Islam for what it is is hard enough.
He hasn’t even read the Quran….in one conversation he declared he’s not into reading *any* religious books because they are full of nonsense and it would be a waste of time. *I* came back at him by stating that “Mein Kampf” was also a dreadful book, badly written and full of bizarre nonsense…but that those on the Allied side who *read* it, as soon as it came out, and paid attention to what it said, especially the bits to do with waging war, and then began to connect what was in Mein Kampf, with the observable behaviour of Herr Hitler and then of the Reich in the 1930s, were not blindsided…whereas other people, who had not bothered to read the enemy’s book, *were*. *That*, I think, got his attention….at least, there was a very long silence after I said that.
mortimer says
As far as the brother of dumble is concerned, I wish to inform him that Islam has no Golden Rule and that is Islam’s most distinctive feature, making it radically different from other religions.
Islam combines mosque and state in one, unlike Christianity which in theory should separate church and state. Jesus asked his disciples to differentiate between the things that are Caesar’s from those that are God’s. In other words, Islam is in a class of its own, similar to the duck-billed platypus which is a bird and a mammal at the same time. Islam is a supremacist-fascist system with an inseparable religion to give it justification for its violence and authority for its political conquest.
Islam is a politico-religious doctrine of military world conquest. Islam is therefore it is unique due to the jihad doctrine based on hostility towards one’s non-Muslim neighbors.
Muslims are not to ‘love’ their neighbor, but to SUBJUGATE and ENSLAVE their neighbor.
That is a Divine command from Allah which makes Islam totally unlike any other faith.

The problem is that *everyone* who opposes Jihad is considered “Conservative” or even “Right Wing”, whether this makes any sense of not. Geert Wilders is virtually a socialist on economic matters, but he is called “Right Wing”–as is Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who is an African Feminist. Robert Spencer has defended the rights of gays, feminists, and atheists to live unmolested–but none of that has stopped his being regarded as far “Right Wing”, either.
David Darman says
I agree that the “leftist” “right winger” name calling that goes on at this site is antithetical to exposing Islam as the barbaric ideology it is. Unfortunately, there is too much of this name calling by RS and those who comment here. The irony of this infighting among those who all agree that Islam is incompatible with contemporary notions of civil and human rights is that no one sensibly defines the terms “leftist” and “right winger.”
Typically, a “leftist” is simply defined here as anyone who doesn’t manifest a sufficiently anti-Islam position. Other social and economic attitudes are irrelevant. If you are not sufficiently critical of Islam, you are ipso facto, a leftist. Nothing more is needed to define one as a leftist. Concomitantly, all leftists are accused of being soft on Islamic barbarity. That is tautological nonsense and it creates an artificial barrier to the efficacious spread of RS’s influence.
Please stop bashing leftists, liberals, progressives, etc, as ipso facto being soft on Islam. It’s inaccurate and counter productive to the cause.
p.s. Thank you RS for your heroic scholarship.

Climate change may or not be a problem for us in the future, but Islamist violence has nothing to do with climate change– it springs solely from the unalterable texts of the Quran and Hadith that prescribe violence… period.
This is akin to being worried about our collective nail polish chipping while our house burns down around us. We should address the house fire first, and then we’ll have the luxury to worry about having prettier manicures.
It is so hard to watch our mainstream media and politicians blither on and dance around the Islamist elephant in the room as if it is a figment of our imaginations. Just a little digging into history shows that Islam has consistently worked to end our way of life for 14 centuries. Climate change will be a moot point if we’re all living under Sharia. Bernie Sanders may as well start designing lighter-weight fabrics for women to be completely covered up in for when we’re fully subjugated by monsters (in anticipation of climate change, of course). He’s no help at all.
The worst part is that the demographic of us that have our eyes open will end up saving these progressive wimps– who will probably be kicking us all the way and whining about ‘tolerance’. Ridiculous!

This is their counter argument to the obvious and undeniable fact that most terrorist attacks are hatched by muslims. So with laughable gymnastics with the truth and logic they promote climate change as the villain and we all know who is responsibe for climate change; those white middle class capitalists who are at the root of all the world’s problems.
In fact a sister ideology, “climate justice” is one of the reasons the Left is all for accepting all refugees into Western nations. Sanders is a good example why age doesn’t necessarily make you wiser.

This war is nothing to do with the last two decades. It is a millennial dispute that has been simmering on and off ever since the Arabs invaded Syria 1,300 years ago. Under Arab rule the Alawites became a persecuted minority who lived in the gutters, because they are not really Moslm. But the French saw them as potential allies and put them in the army, and from thence they took power.
So the Alawites are merely the Yazidi with the potential to protect themselves. And we all support the persecuted Yazidi, don’t we? Or are we saying that if the Yazadi got some weaponry and defended themselves, we would all suddenly hate them?
This is the underlying political situation, and it is not a recent issue. Assad’s father had the same problem in 1981, and put down the rebellion with force. Look up the Hamma masssacre.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1982_Hama_Islamic_uprising
So the Alawites know that if they lose power, they will be eliminated. And the Syriac Christians know that if the Alawites go, they will be next to be eliminated – just as Christians have been historically eliminated across the Near East (I am Atheist, btw.)
This is the religio-political reality on the ground. This is why Assad will never give up his position. This is the real situation that any negotiation has to address. And this is why it is highly unlikely that any peace initiative will ever work – just as no peace initiative has ever worked between Israel and the Palestinians.
And the real question, is why do politicians not know this?
.
Oh, and let’s slay another dragon while we are at it. The was NO Golden Age of Islam. It not only hijacked other people’s discoveries and claimed them for itself, but it created much of the Dark Age it was purportedly claiming to save. In fact, the relationship between islam and science is the complete antithesis of what we are taught.
