Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Minnesota state representative candidate: “ISIS isn’t necessarily evil”

Nov 15, 2015 5:45 pm By Robert Spencer

Dan Kimmel has withdrawn from the race, and for that we can be grateful, but his statement, with all of its moral equivalence and toleration of evil, is a succinct expression of what hamstrings our ability to face the Islamic State and defeat it. This is why the Islamic State will be plaguing free people worldwide for years to come.

“Minnesota State Representative Candidate Withdraws From Race After Saying ‘ISIS is Not Evil,’” by Kaitlyn Schallhorn, Daily Caller, November 15, 2015:

A Democrat candidate for a state representative seat in Minnesota has withdrawn from the race after he drew ire from many — including those in his own party — with a controversial tweet following the Paris terrorist attacks.

“ISIS isn’t necessarily evil,” Dan Kimmel, a candidate for a Minnesota state representative seat tweeted Saturday. “It is made up of people doing what they think is best for their community. Violence is not the answer, though.”

ISIS isn’t necessarily evil. It is made up of people doing what they think is best for their community. Violence is not the answer, though.

— Dan Kimmel (@KimmelDan) November 15, 2015

The Islamic State has taken responsibility for the terrorist attacks in Paris Friday that claimed the lives of more than 120 people and injured hundreds of others. In the immediate aftermath of the attacks, French President Francois Hollande said he viewed the attack as an “act of war” and promised a “pitiless” response.

Kimmel, 63, asserted in a follow-up that he “deplores” the Islamic State’s actions and was not defended them. However, the candidate still drew the ire of many on social media, including the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party leaders.

In a post on his campaign website, Kimmel said his tweet was “poorly worded” and thus announced the end of his candidacy.

“I am folding up my campaign tent,” Kimmel said, adding an apology for those who volunteered or donated to his campaign.

“I do think the attacks in Paris yesterday, along with other ISIS terrorist actions, are cowardly and despicable. My heart breaks for the people of France, of Paris, the families of those wounded or killed and the casualties themselves,” Kimmel said. “My thoughts are with them. I condemn the attacks, as I condemn all violence.”…

His last phrase is so typical.
He ends with, — ” as I condemn all violence”

    All violence????
He does not want to appear to be singling out ISIS in particular or any other Islamic group that happens to have Muslims as members.

Very true, Jay Boo–this tool clearly condemns *defense* against violence just as he does unprovoked attacks against innocent people. At least he’s no longer running for public office…

        Dan Kimmel condemns ‘all violence’.

Presumably, he then condemns the violence of the bombers and the drones that are targeting those like the beheaders of Christians in Libya and Jihadi John in Syria.

Leftarded cultural Marxists like Kimmel do not think through their airy-fairy ideas and end up encouraging and emboldening the terrorists by their moral confusion.

This wimp would deny all real men the right to defend their families, for violence can only be defeated by equal or greater violence. These brain dead types have been so brainwashed by the leftist agenda of political correctness they cannot see the difference between criminal violence and defense of law. The western nations have been built on law and will suffer destruction when they are unable or unwilling to protect that law.

Anybody ask him whether in condemning ‘all violence’ he condemns the violence that sometimes *must* be used by soldiers or policemen in order to defend – and/ or to rescue – innocents?

Exactly so, DDA. and Dan Kimmel has a Tweet reading:

“All these debaters make sense. War is never the answer.”

*Never* the answer–no matter what evil is threatening you, you have no right to defend yourself. *Ugh*.

Blithering idiots who have still not “gotten it”.
Regardless of the nice people every where, there are adherents of a particular ideology that do not like you and want to kill you. The sooner they figure this out, the better.
This goes way back Gen 15-16. Abraham and God’s promise. Ishmael, the son of disbelief, and Isaac, the son of promise. Ishmael described as a “wild donkey of a man” and him and his lineage being in “constant conflict”.

Condemning all violence is like equating a burglar or rapist breaking a window to enter a home for criminal purpose with a fireman breaking a window in order to enter a home to rescue a child.

He is lumping the violence of isis…the latest reported being that of terror in Paris…in with someone having to use violence to stop a terrorist. isis is…is…necessarily evil, even though isis’s and its evil are unnecessary to the success of life in Syria and Iraq.

Minnesota state representative candidate: “ISIS isn’t necessarily evil”
    ………………………

And note–this isn’t some clueless by well-meaning fool hopefully regurgitating the “Islam is a religion of peace” cliche–instead, it is someone speaking of a group universally known for beheading journalists and aid workers, engaging in genocide, and using little girls as sex slaves.

And he thinks these horrors “aren’t necessarily evil”. In that case, there is clearly *nothing* that Dan Kimmel would consider beyond the pale (except those who vote Republican, probably).

The *only* saving grace is that this was too much even for Minnesota Leftists, who sent this amoral bastard packing.

Truth is, he was likely never a serious candidate–his Twitter page has just 238 followers, and 52 likes.

Some of his other stances include urging a bike path be built across a bridge (this one is fine), slamming those who believe in the Second Amendment, questioning whether sports belong in schools (seriously), and claiming that war is *never* the answer (I suppose he would have urged doing nothing to oppose Hitler).

When you cannot say without reservation that ISIS is evil, then what can you call evil? (I guess that leaves Hitler.) Dan Kimmel is one of those people who think they’re smarter than everyone else. He just went too far with his big mouth, and got some pushback, thankfully. I’m sure his 12 Twitter followers are devastated.

(gravenimage noted 238 followers last night, so it’s dropping fast. I always hate to see people self-destruct in the media, or be destroyed *by* the media, but it’s a favored weapon against ‘the other side’, so, what can I say……..)

“Nazis in Germany aren’t necessarily evil, just people doing what they think is best for their community”. Dan Kimmel minded people during WWII.

  25. UNCLE VLADDI says

    Nov 16, 2015 at 10:46 pm

“Evil” is attacking (thereby innocent) other people first.
That’s what islam is; and what it does. Ditto for ISILam.
Islam asserts that “violence is the answer!” and it’s not
“in defense of their community” but for global conquest.

Anybody surprised that A Democrat who feels entitled

He’s another infantile criminally negligent delinquent.
