“There’s very good evidence indeed that one of the major reasons for this horror in Syria, funnily enough, was a drought that lasted for about five or six years, which meant that huge numbers of people in the end had to leave the land.” If that was what led to the war in Syria, then why haven’t Syrian Christians formed terror groups? Is the climate different for Syrian Christians? And to what climate events does Prince Charles attribute the July 7, 2005 jihad bombings in London?
“Now Prince Charles blames the ‘horrors’ of the Syria war on a failure to tackle climate change… so finally someone agrees with Charlotte Church,” by Chris Brooke, Daily Mail, November 23, 2015 (thanks to Michael):
The Syrian crisis that is spreading terror across the world was prompted by climate change, the Prince of Wales has claimed.
In a controversial interview, Charles argued that the cumulative effect of global warming was ‘one of the major reasons for this horror in Syria’.
He warned that a decades-long failure to tackle climate change inevitably meant ‘greater conflict over scarce resources’ and that even the Pentagon had realised the root cause of war and terrorism was ‘what we’re doing to our environment’.
His outspoken comments were made in an interview with Sky News recorded before the Paris attacks.
Charles claimed the current crisis resulted from five or six years of drought in Syria, which forced vast numbers to leave their homeland.
His remarks follow US research in which scientists said that climate change was a key factor in the 2011 uprising that sparked the civil war in which 250,000 Syrians have died and more than 11million have been forced from their homes.
Members of Barack Obama’s administration echoed the warning, as did singer Charlotte Church, who faced public ridicule after giving her views on BBC1’s Question Time last month.
Speaking ahead of the UN climate conference in Paris, Charles warned the globe was heading towards ‘catastrophes and chaos’ and without urgent action ‘life will become very, very complicated indeed’ and the world’s problems far worse.
‘We are now facing a real possibility of nature’s bank going bust,’ he said.
‘Do we really have to face catastrophes and chaos before we understand that real action needs to be taken? The difficulty with all that, is that by the time you try to take the action, it’s already too late.
‘Some of us were saying twenty-something years ago that if we didn’t tackle these issues you would see ever greater conflict over scarce resources and ever greater difficulties over drought, and the accumulating effect of climate change, which means that people have to move.
‘There’s very good evidence indeed that one of the major reasons for this horror in Syria, funnily enough, was a drought that lasted for about five or six years, which meant that huge numbers of people in the end had to leave the land.’
Asked about the direct link between climate and terrorism, he said: ‘It’s only in the last few years that the Pentagon have actually started to pay attention to this. I mean it has a huge impact on what is happening. There are endless problems arising all over the place, therefore we deal with them in a short term way.
‘We never deal with the underlying root cause – which, regrettably, is what we’re doing to our natural environment.’ Charles said it would be ‘very difficult’ to get an international agreement on tackling global warming at the UN conference….

…and, for the sake of argument, let’s say that climate change is indeed the “underlying root cause.” So what of it? Does that make the threat that these psychopaths pose to civilization any less immediate and in-our-faces-today? Does that make the need to respond to the threat of psychopathic terrorist religious fundamentalism any less important than the need to respond to the threat of climate change? Does the fact that I have terminal cancer with an #-month prognosis mean that I don’t need to respond to the guy with a gun shoved in my face rightthisveryminute? Do these idiots even think before they open their mouths? The underlying causes of the Second World War were far less simplistic than the ones we settled for at the time—or even now—but does that mean that we shouldn’t have defended ourselves?

It is too important for all of us that Prince Charles learn the JIHAD DOCTRINE immediately. His influence in this matter could lead to politicians reaching the right conclusion about jihad…the teaching of subjugation of disbelievers.
Fallacious reasoning like blaming jihad on climate change is the POST HOC ERGO PROPTER HOC fallacy.
Jihad is caused by the Islamic source texts: Sira, hadiths and Koran…as well as the canonical, consensual writing of mainstream Islam.

It’s not just Charles. It’s Elizabeth too. She has presided over her nation since 1952 and this nation is now in the midst of committing national suicide and what has the Queen said about this? NOTHING!
I used to admire Elizabeth. I don’t any longer. And please no lecture from anyone telling me that her powers as constitutional monarch are very limited. I know they are. I’ve read my Macaulay, Bagehot, et al.
But if a constitutional monarch can’t or won’t speak up when that monarch’s country is self-imploding, is dying, because of the twin idiocies of political correctness and multiculturalism and because of suicidal and lethal immigration policies, then what the hell good is that monarchy for? After all, if you can’t lay an office on the line from time to time, why the hell have that office at all? Any high office (and the British monarchy is a pretty damn high office—–can’t get much higher) that can’t be laid on the line when dire circumstances exist (and they exist in Britain right now) should be an office that is terminated, an office which has truly outlasted any good it can do.
mortimer says
The Queen exercises her constitutional power by holding up legislation she disapproves. She asks the PM for ‘more information’ to study. This is the way monarchs ask for changes to legislation…by delaying it.
However, the Royal Family is not showing evidence that they understand the JIHAD DOCTRINE which is what we are concerned about in this forum. They appear just as inclined as anyone else to believe that jihad is a ‘distortion’ of real Islam. They could influence many people if they all studied the JIHAD DOCTRINE.
Wellington says
Unlike the Danish Queen, who not long ago very publicly did make statements to the effect that those who come to Denmark need to accept Danish values, Elizabeth has never made any kind of statement like this. She has watched while her nation has been transformed from a basically free society into an ever increasingly unfree society. The sin upon her head for this.

The Lord Protector would not put up with the crap that Elizabeth has and which silly Prime Ministers (e.g., Blair, Brown and Cameron) have furthered (though of course no PMs existed in Cromwell’s time). As for the British people letting him, I think they would but he would do what he thought was right in any case, regardless of pubic opinion. It’s one of the measures of this great man (though I wouldn’t say as much in a Dublin pub, let alone one in Drogheda).
marble says
You make a great point that I did not mention in your last sentence. Cromwell’s brutality to the Irish was horrible; this is no excuse, but the practice of the royals from Henry VIII on were deplorable as well.

Being above the law, it’s not like she can be taken to court for hate speech. What is her reason for silence?

The monarchy is there to make us feel all warm and fuzzy and be entertained by their glamour. We just love to see them in their carriages surrounded by beautifully presented guards. I wonder why we delight in seeing them so rich and pampered. What exactly do they contribute? So far not even opposition to extremism. We know what Charles thinks but what about the rest of them?
gravenimage says
Agreed, Wellington. The monarchy may have limited power, but their words and actions can be *very* influential. Elizabeth has said virtually nothing about the ugly and dangerous Islamization of Britain. If she did, it would do much to hearten the British people.
The only ones who have made any effort at all have been Charles’s sons, who have served bravely in Afghanistan.

Based on the many mentions of the obvious, and highly questioned serious brain deficit (actually on display far too many times, generally diagnosed, by observers, as too much intermarriage, but who really knows anymore, considering the rest of the world both west and east!!!), one must remember a time when the axiom and/or idiom, “Thus neither a royal, nor a king ever be, if but a dildo, or a (would be) tampon be!!!!” (sarc/off)
Sorry, I have a too long memory, and my manners have somewhat decayed in the face of the lack of real decorum of the royals anymore, nor for that matter the current regime of America. The Queen at least holds forth with fine behavior, alas, singularly. And the Iron Lady was a truly fine specimen of acumen.
Just too few brains in either functional item specified above, sarc/off, again. Now to be serious, this short lesson for the dear royals, alas:

They are all speaking the same language, nonsense because they want to use it to promote the New World Order, with the UN as the hub of control. Its that simple. Global issue such as this needs to be delt with globally with global policies. Muslims are part of that plan, to create chaos and confusion, to degrade democracy, nationality and cultural identity. Terrorists are there to put the fear into people, to excercise martial law, control and an excuse to build a global policy and army. Some leaders are now openly admitting to wanting to establish a New World Order, Merkel, Obama and many more….Putin, for example told the leaders that he doesn’t want a part in it. As the saying goes, it’s better to look stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. Charles is another loopy lefty along with Bernie Sanders. But do a little digging and the “climate link to terrorism” is easily dismissed.
There were long droughts in Ethiopia in the 1980’s that did not result in the rise of terror groups. The countries of the “Arab Spring” are arid regions at the best of times, and have been throughout their history. There is little evidence of wide scale movement of peoples in these regions before the outbreak of war or emergence of the terror groups. Equally terror groups can be found in lush tropical regions with no shortage of rainfall such as Southern Phillippines, Indonesia, Peru, Colombia to name a few. The linking feature is nothing to do with climate, but religious or political ideology.

Prince Charles is hardly ‘Left Wing’. He is not saying that terrorist doctrine and activity is necessarily a result of climate change. He is saying that the Syrian civil war resulted from it. You could say that terrorist groups then prospered in such an environment. Drought led to migration to cities where unemployment and lack of government assistance led to dissent and then government suppression. Various rebel groups included Islamist ones. There is no necessary dichotomy between what Prince Charles says and the role of extreme interpretation of the Koran.

There’s an element of truth behind what he/prince dipsh#t says. There was a drought that led to unrest, and the Islamist nutcases hijacked the ensuing fighting.
But that doesn’t mean that we should excuse the madness, or accept the Islamists/jihadists, or apologize, or fight for our lives and the survival of our general way of life.
It’s like the arguments about criminals having difficult childhoods etc….there may be something to what is being pointed out, but I draw the line at allowing that to become an excuse or reason for coddling, or for not punishing.
Like others have said—the REAL story is why is it that only Muslims seem to have reacted this way to the theoretical environmental fallout? The obvious conclusion is that there must be something defective in how they are taught/raised to deal with adversity….and….voila…since religion in general is the drug of choice for existential terror/dread/awakening…and since Islam offers particularly vile “advice” to its adherents….here we are in the presently growing catastrophe.

But here’s a great unanswered question about global warming’s one weird trick:
http://personalliberty.com/a-great-unanswered-question-about-global-warmings-one-weird-trick/
“Global warming, whose mythic ability to cause all kinds of side effects grows more legendary by the day, is blamed for everything from acne to shark attacks to farmers killing themselves in Australia.
So it’s no surprise that global warming is frequently cited as a driving force behind global terrorism. But conservative blogger Erick Erickson poses a complicating question this week at his website: “Why does global warming only turn Muslims into terrorists?”
Why indeed? We’re sure there’s a scientific explanation, but Erickson leaves that for the scientists to unearth. He’s just playing the role of an innocent savant who doesn’t understand his own discovery:
Global warming is the cause of terrorism in the Middle East and around the world according to Martin O’Malley, Bernie Sanders, Barack Obama, and other Democrats. Let’s add in the Prince of Wales. With a straight face they make this claim, ignoring any and all other evidence to the contrary.
But if that is so, if global warming causes terrorism, then I think the Democrats need to answer this question: why does global warming only turn Muslims into terrorists?
A great question. “Why is the sky blue?” must already have been taken.
“There are Jews in the Middle East and Africa,” Erickson continues. “There are Christians in the Middle East and Africa. There are animists, Zoroastrians, Hindus, and others. But only certain Muslims, often from wealthy families, turn into terrorists. The Jews, Christians, animists, Zoroastrians, Hindus, and the rest never seem to be affected by global warming in that way.”
Erickson’s got no answers, but he suggests that Democrats, while they’re still in control of the federal government, start spending some of their frivolous-study money to get to the bottom of the riddle.
If anybody comes up with the answer, we’ll let you know … in the name of science.”

Prince Charles, Obama, Justin Trudeau, and Merkle as well as most world leaders of today are following the same line, word for word. Also on refugee immigration..hmmm

Prince Charles, like so many others on the issue of ‘Climate Change’, has got it wrong. For the last 15 years or so, there has been a hiatus in the small upward trend previously observed in global warming, but as yet, no one can say with any certainty why this should be so. What we do know is that almost all the computer models for predicting global warming, have been wrong. Most of the models have over-estimated ‘climate sensitivity’ – the change in global temperature caused by a doubling of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2, a greenhouse gas). Estimates range from as low as 1.4C to 5.8C – hardly the sort of result to inspire 95% confidence in the theory – or to justify the expenditure of billions of dollars of public money in a vain attempt to mitigate the problem.
However, despite the many objections, the IPCC still claims “the science is settled” on the issue of climate change, and will still be pushing ahead for a global ‘consensus’ of what to do about it (in Paris next week). The problem is that ‘concensus’ plays no part in scientific analysis; it is purely a political strategy. It is imaterial whether hundreds of scientists agree with a theory, or only just one, its success or failure lies only in the evidence, and its usefulness in predicting future outcomes.
Most computer models treat atmospheric CO2 as the main cause; but it would appear that most of the Earth’s great ice ages have occurred when the level of CO2 was between two and ten times what it is now. If that is the case, then something else must have a far greater effect on climate than CO2. Also, other independent scientists have blamed the IPCC for relying on the assumption that atmospheric water vapour has an amplifying effect on warming, whereas cloud cover can have the opposite effect. Others have gastigated the IPCC for ignoring possible extra-terrestrial causes such as the Milankovitch effect (an anomaly caused by variations in the Earth’s orbit around the Sun), and variability in insolation. Still others have claimed than the El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) effect, and other oceanic phenomena have not been sufficiently considered. A catch cry now among many scientists is, “If we couldn’t predict the pause, we don’t understand the cause!”
Some scientists and economists are now accusing the IPCC of corruption, and claiming that the issue of ‘Climate change’ is the greatest scientific fraud ever perpetrated. Climate change has almost become a ‘new religion’ for radical Greens. Billions of dollars have been wasted chasing a poorly understood pipe dream, which was promoted mainly by leftist, anti-establishment, environmental activists, and it will leave a stain on the integrity of science for a long time to come. It would seem that the IPCC is just another self-serving government funded bureaucracy, which has become more political than scientific, and has developed an inertia which is difficult to stop.
Anyone wanting to understand more about this issue is urged to read the book, ‘Climate Change The Facts’, published by the Institute of Public Affairs in Australia. The book is available as a downloadable .pdf at http://www.ipa.org.au.
As for climate change being a cause of the Syrian war? That is just a load of hot air! – if you’ll pardon the pun. Maybe the IPA should send a copy of their book to Prince Charles.
One further issue: Charles stated many years ago, that he wanted to be the ‘Defender of Faith’ (not Defender of THE Faith), as previous British monarchs have been. I have two objections to that. Firstly, no head of state should be defending any faith. There should be a clear line of demarcation between state and faith. After all, only people can think and hold beliefs; and faiths are matters of personal belief – or should be. States are man made entities developed for the ease of governing people, and cannot think for themselves. If states cannot think, they cannot hold beliefs – not even collective beliefs – and therefore, the concept of a state religion (or any other belief) is a nonsense.
Probably, Charles wanted to become the Defender of Faiths to ingratiate himself with his many Muslim friends. Although to give him credit, Charles has spoken out against the atrocities being committed in the Middle East – as in this previous post on JW.

Like so many others in the West, Charles probably once imagined that Islam was just another ‘Tale from the Arabian Nights’. I doubt if he ever became involved in Middle Eastern politics, but no doubt Muslims have tried to use him to their advantage. Perhaps he just imagined himself as ‘Charles of Arabia’.

Climate change causes jihad. Well, let’s think about it. Climate change is causing global warming. When it gets very warm, people get grumpy. When they are grumpy, this easily leads to anger. Jihadists are viewed as angry people. ROYAL LOGIC!
