Report: UC Merced stabber was on terror watch list, had Islamic State flag

If the information in this report is true, then Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke was deliberately lying when he told the media that this attack had nothing to do with Faisal Mohammad’s Islamic faith. What is the motive of these people? When it comes to Islamic jihad attacks, virtually all public officials downplay the Islamic aspect, obfuscate the motive, and often lie outright, all to protect Islam. What has made Islam sacrosanct so that no matter how high the stack of bodies gets, no matter how many atrocities are committed in its name and in accord with its teachings, the one thing we must not do at all costs is identify the root cause properly?

“Were Law Enforcement Leaders and UC Chancellor Aware of Threat by Terrorsits [sic]/Extremists to Attack UC Merced?,” by Matthew Gonzales, Merced TV News, November 7, 2015 (thanks to Joe):

…From the information I have gathered, the suspect was indeed not only on the FBI’s terrorist watch list but he was also on a national watch list and had been one of the topics of discussion at a recent FBI briefing to Merced County law enforcement leaders. According to recently obtained information, about 6 months ago the FBI held a terrorist/extremist briefing with Merced County law enforcement leaders. At this meeting several suspected terrorist with ISIS links were said to be here in Merced County. Names and photos were presented including one of Faisal Mohammad. Based on the FBI’s own analysis and a number of people on the terrorist watch list that are in the area they projected an attack at the UC Merced campus. Though they were not absolutely certain of the attack on the UC they did feel that there was enough information for them to be here if it did.

According to my sources the UC Chancellor was also briefed on the potential threats.

A witness who wishes to remain anonymous stated that they had seen what appeared to be a picture of an ISIS flag which was pulled out of the suspect’s pocket. Two of my law enforcement sources have verified that this is in fact true and that the UC Chancellor along with the FBI and DHS have instructed our local media and our local law enforcement leaders to feed the current narrative that FM was a disgruntled student instead of what he actually was… an extremist Muslim bent on attacking American students in the name of ISIS. And their reasoning for not informing Merced County residents or our out-of-town students and their parents about these potential threats to their lives? According to all three law enforcement sources the information was withheld because it would be bad for business. Protecting four innocent people’s lives and the truth was bad for business….

The last thing one of my law enforcement sources said before she hung-up was, “ISIS is here, Matt, and this is no longer a safe community. This info needs to be made public to the people of Merced County to be aware of the d anger signs.” I think she’s right because we have the right to know to be able to protect ourselves and our families from this impending danger.

      Somehow it felt inevitable when Prez Dubya got on national TV after 9/11 and declared that Islam is a religion of peace, a tiny minority of extremists blah blah blaaah. Somehow it was unsurprising.

      And little has changed in the last 14 years. With this Faisal Mohammad kid we’ve gone from lone wolf to known wolf to shown wolf, that last being where a Moslem is shown by the New Caliphate how to best emulate the Holy prophet Mohammed, his namesake. What’s changed in the last 14 years is we’ve brought in millions more Moslems, tens of thousands have converted to Islam, and hundreds of mosques have been built here, all of them tax exempt. In the state of Tennessee they’re even teaching students about Islam. That’s progress, but in the wrong direction. It’s gonna get worse before it gets better, and it may never get better.

    • What is the sheriff’s motive to deny Islamic motivation of the perpetrator?

      Here is my theory, for what it’s worth: too many people in the last few generations of the West very strongly desire to be seen as noble “defenders” of minorities: not a bad motivation if such motivation is pure. But, it is not. The desire is so strong to appear as a “hero” that they will defy reason, and go to ridiculous extremes. How will they be noticed if they merely act reasonably? Also, they know that if they somehow go too far, they can always fall back on the explanation that they erred out of passion like a mother bear overreacting to a perceived threat against her cubs. This explanation typically produces a reaction of awe and admiration in enough people– after all, “heroes” sometimes get carried away with emotion because they care more than others. Faulting them for excess would be counterproductive in the big picture.

      So, it’s win-win in their eyes: if he turns out to right, then he is seen as a hero who “stands up for the little guy against bigots.” The accolades will pour in. If he turns out to wrong, then at least he can take shelter under the sympathy of people who admire the “nobility” of his passionate excess.

      Those who insist that Reason be our guide are easily characterized as bigots who lack passion.

      It’s a problem as difficult to defeat as narcissism.

      • Couple that narcissism with masochism: where they pretend to be able to “control” their fears, BY causing those very same, worst-case scenario problems (like insulting other people and bringing hordes of holy mobsters into their own neighborhoods) which cause the pains they fear the most.

    The motive is to protect the vast majority of Muslims whom they anxiously think will be “tarred with a broad brush” of “bigotry” and “racism” if one shines a light on the central motivation of Islam in attacks like these — the same Islam that in myriad cultural & psychological ways binds all those hundreds of millions of Muslims together into a cohesive cultural identity. Further anxiety is added to this impulse by the perception that Muslims are an ethnic people (or a wonderful diversity, tapestry, mosaic, quilt, stir-fry of ethnic peoples) — an ostensible fact that almost immediately triggers the PC MC hot buttons of White Guilt and the autophobia of our own uniquely white Western tendencies &proclivities toward “racism” and “bigotry”. The sort of tissue or mush of thoughts and feelings that forms this point of view has apparently affected the majority of Westerners — on all sides of the political spectrum and throughout all subcultural and religious persuasions — in a kind of paradigm shift of worldview over the past half century or so (with historical roots going back further, of course)..

    • We can not protect ourselves from mass casualty attacks, random shootings, knifings, acit attacks or poisoning the food and water supplies.

      There is no prophylaxis avaiilable to individuals. The only prevention is to remove every G’dM from the scope of our borders. Kick them out and admit no more.

      That is a responsibility which the federal government refuses to accept.

      • I guess you’re talking about America when you say “we…” and I couldn’t disagree more. Each and every American who isn’t prohibited by law from owning a firearm should procure one ASAP and learn to use it, then be prepared to use it no matter where or when.

        Frankly, I’m planning on gearing up much more often and hitting the mall, again… just in case. No government entity in this country has a responsibility to protect any single individual, but only an obligation when sworn to it to defend society in general. So, as I’ve said at my blog for years; you are on your own. But anyone can prepare and not be left standing w/o “prophylaxis” in the face of jihadi danger. It’s a choice one makes.

        We are not going to remove every Muslim from our shores. The barbarians are inside the gates, not at them. And more are coming.

        So, man up. We all die sometime, the only choice we have is whether we die on our feet or on our knees.

          Muslims are not the identifiable enemy here. However, we have a Flag, a Pledge of Allegiance, a National Anthem and a Constitution that must be subscribed to.         • Individually we can’t do much. One construction worker saved one life. He was in the right place at the right time, like those heroes on the French train.

          We need to put the fear of the electorate in Congress and the President. Make them expect to be replaced if they do not shape up and ship the Muslims out.

  9. The Police and National Guard are obviously overwhelmed already. It is time for neighborhood watches to organize and arm themselves. Perhaps the NRA can provide materials to neighborhoods so that NRA weapons are properly allocated to protect the People. Then the Police and National Guard will have additional strength against insurrection and terrorism

    Uncertainty: hindsight is always superior to foresight. They wait until there is sufficient evidence, after the blood hits the fan. Law enforcement is reactive, not proactive.

    Preventing panic. fear that the masses might engage in pushback, attacking mosques and Muslims.

    Minimizing enemy bragging rights: depriving them of another recruitment tool.

      • The articles I read about banning pork in prisons said that it was Obama who decided to do that. They claimed that prisoners did not like pork. I do not believe that incarcerated non-Muslims would refuse bacon for breakfast. We are left with one conclusion, and one conclusion only. The President is bent on Islamization of this country and will take every step to see it happen, even restricting diets. Is there any pork on the menu for Mrs. Obama’s school lunches? Likely not.

    Well, *this* is disturbing–I had assumed that Sheriff Warnke was just a cop in the heartland far from any center of Muslim population, with very little exposure to Islam, and for whom the idea of a Jihad terrorist would be very difficult to grasp.

    But if he and his fellow local law enforcement officers had been *specifically warned* about Muhammad, then this changes everything.

    So–Mohammad did act on the urgings of the Islamic State to attack Americans. The idea ISIS claiming responsibility for this Jihad attack–as they have–is not so far-fetched.

    This *might* be understandable if the threat were general–but it *was not*. They knew not just the community but the *specific Jihadist*. That he wasn’t taken out of circulation–or, at the very least, kept under constant surveillance–is unconscionable.

    It is, of course, also ironically short-sighted. How did allowing this Jihad terror attack to take place good for business? It will likely keep potential shoppers, new students, new residents, and investors away from UC Merced and Merced county in droves.

    The last thing one of my law enforcement sources said before she hung-up was, “ISIS is here, Matt, and this is no longer a safe community. This info needs to be made public to the people of Merced County to be aware of the d anger signs.” I think she’s right because we have the right to know to be able to protect ourselves and our families from this impending danger.

      FBI’s own analysis and a number of people on the terrorist watch list that are in the area they projected an attack at the UC Merced campus.

      The number of people in that area….on the watch list….and an …attack on the very campus…
      By one of the people on the watch list….who attended the college….
      And people were stabbed…and they don’t admit to the truth of what they knew before the attack… and what they know now

  19. The information about this terrorist was not acted upon. Why? Bad for business.

    Same thing in Egypt. We are just learning that a couple months before the Russian plane crashed in Egypt, a British airliner had to take evasive action to avoid being hit by a missile while flying in the area. Not a peep was told to either the passengers of the plane or the public. Why all this secrecy? While a plane having to take evasive action to avoid hitting a bird may not warrant public notification, shouldn’t being nearly hit by a missile? Shouldn’t that be public information so that people can make informed decisions that may save their lives? Where is the outrage? The event apparently was investigated and determined that it was an Egyptian Army test missile. Is that any consolation? Come on people, where is the outrage?

  23. This does not shock me in the least. I am from Merced Country, where my father of blessed memory had a position in law enforcement. My father revealed to me that one day, several decades ago, an arrest record came across his computer screen. The arrested man was a local pediatrician who had been caught sodomizing a minor in a local park. Several hours later, the arrest had been “disappeared” from the file and the pediatrician was back at his job.

    No. If this story is true, it does not at all shock me.
