Nice work, Robert. You pack a lot into a few words. Ms Gabriel had a lot of interesting things to say as well, including her mentioning something I just wrote about on another JW thread – that state governors lack the authority to refuse entry to immigrants the federal government wants to dump there. If people would just think about what that would entail in practical terms, the whole idea is ridiculous. It’s not as though states have impervious borders!
I was completely appalled at Obama’s speech. I was pissed off that he let out those 6000 fed prisoners, who must have done something pretty serious to be in jail after they all plea bargained down from the top charges. Horrified and aghast at his letting out five more Gitmo detainees the day AFTER Paris atrocity. You addressed that very nicely, I thought. He’s in a hurry to get Gitmo closed, another thing on the list he can tick off of things he announced as his intentions as far back as his first campaign. There’s no surprise here, but his second win surprised me.
Actually, when I think about Obama’s actions and words during the last week and counting, I find it thrilling. He is behaving SO badly and transparently that lefties and super-demos are falling over themselves to distance themselves from the whole catastrophe before anybody gets the idea that they actually support this shocking behavior. Nancy Pelosi or that other California dame – Barbara Boxer? – expressed shock and amazement at what he’s doing with the Syrian refugees after Paris. I found listening to her go on and on quite thrilling, as I could see a tsunami of such reactions from all kinds of sectors, political and otherwise. We’ll see.
Cheers!

It helps that they don’t have to share the screen with someone intent on muddying the waters and obfuscating the issue, like that Iranian imam.

That’s what I was going to say. Once the jihadis get into the country, what’s to stop them from getting into a car with their buddies and driving anywhere in the USA they want?
As to the governors having no legal power to refuse to accept refugees that the Federal government wants to send them, making the gesture of refusing, making it known that if they are made to accept them, they do it under protest, is better than obliging without a word.
I wonder if any states will see this issue as one worth defying/rebelling against the Federal government for?
I also wonder whether, in time, if Obama succeeds in flooding the US with the jihadist nightmare, we’ll wind up with checkpoints at every state border and be required to carry out “papers” everywhere?

That should be “our” papers.
We need an EDIT button, dammit!

There are only two possible explanations. Either the president is incompetent/insane OR he is working with the enemy and knowingly committing TREASON! And I do not think that he is that dum or stupid.
I do believe that his last year in office will be a disaster for our country. And we will need decades to repair the damage done by this MUSLIM nut.

Hello David — See a comment I made on Robert’s “Governors Revolt” post . . . saying pretty much what you do here.

In California, a State spokeswoman said that the vetting process will be intense and exhaustive, involve several agencies and will take 18 months..
How much is that going to cost? I suppose the investigating officers get paid by the hour…

As you know, there is unlimited money in Sacramento. Cost is no object in California, just quality.

Brilliant Robert, “How is a government that won’t even acknowledge there is a jihad threat going to screen out people who are a jihad threat?”
Obama isn’t worried about vetting any of the “refugees” because the Islamic State has already done that for him.
