Passengers were forced to overpower a man during a flight after he allegedly banged on the cockpit door and threatened to bring the plane while saying he “wanted to see Allah”.
A group of professional sportsmen on board a Lufthansa flight from Franfurt [sic] to Belgrade held the man down after he jumped up in the middle of the flight and allegedly demanded access to the cockpit.
According to passengers on board the flight, the man banged on the cockpit door and then threatened to bring the plane down over Austria if he was not allowed inside.
The man, who was said to have been a Jordanian man with an American passport, was held down by members of the Serbian national handball team who were on board Flight 1406 and crew of the plane.
The president of the Vojvodina handball team, Milan Djukic, said: “About halfway into the flight he tried to open a plane door, but the cabin crew stopped him.”
