Jihad Watch

Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles: “It’s time to establish a greater solidarity with Islam”

Dec 26, 2015 6:40 pm By Robert Spencer

The contemporary Catholic Church has wholeheartedly endorsed that idea that Islam is a religion of peace, and that Muslims are the first victims of jihad terrorism. This proposition is enforced as an iron dogma, the one non-negotiable point in today’s comfortable suburban Church: anything goes, everything is winked at, moral teaching is discarded or ignored left and right, but whisper that Islamic jihadists point to the texts and teachings of Islam to justify violence and supremacism, and you’ll be the new Jan Hus.

The piece in the Los Angeles archdiocesan newspaper is just one example of the barrage of nonsense that comes from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops on this issue, but it is noteworthy in being particularly counterfactual. It spends a great deal of time admonishing us that the first victims of Islamic jihad terror groups are other Muslims, as Fr. Ronald Rolheiser apparently believes, with Barack Obama and numerous other Western leaders, that this proves that the Islamic State, al-Qaeda and the rest are un-Islamic. In fact, it only establishes that they believe their Muslim opponents to be un-Islamic, and because Islam mandates death for heresy and apostasy, they kill those opponents.

Rolheiser also says: “But the Muslim religion is not to blame here. There is nothing inherent in either the Koran or in Islam itself that morally or religiously undergirds this kind of violence.” Well, let’s see. Apparently Rolheiser has overlooked just a few passages from the Qur’an, including:

2:191-193: “And slay them wherever you come upon them, and expel them from where they expelled you; persecution is more grievous than slaying. But fight them not by the Holy Mosque until they should fight you there; then, if they fight you, slay them — such is the recompense of unbelievers, but if they give over, surely Allah is All-forgiving, All-compassionate. Fight them, till there is no persecution and the religion is Allah’s; then if they give over, there shall be no enmity save for evildoers.”

4:89: “They wish that you should disbelieve as they disbelieve, and then you would be equal; therefore take not to yourselves friends of them, until they emigrate in the way of Allah; then, if they turn their backs, take them, and slay them wherever you find them; take not to yourselves any one of them as friend or helper.”

5:33: “This is the recompense of those who fight against Allah and His Messenger, and hasten about the earth, to do corruption there: they shall be slaughtered, or crucified, or their hands and feet shall alternately be struck off; or they shall be banished from the land. That is a degradation for them in this world; and in the world to come awaits them a mighty chastisement.”

8:12: “When thy Lord was revealing to the angels, ‘I am with you; so confirm the believers. I shall cast into the unbelievers’ hearts terror; so smite above the necks, and smite every finger of them!'”

8:39: “Fight them, till there is no persecution and the religion is Allah’s entirely; then if they give over, surely Allah sees the things they do.”

8:60: “Make ready for them whatever force and strings of horses you can, to terrify thereby the enemy of Allah and your enemy, and others besides them that you know not; Allah knows them. And whatsoever you expend in the way of Allah shall be repaid you in full; you will not be wronged.”

9:5: “Then, when the sacred months are drawn away, slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them, and confine them, and lie in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they repent, and perform the prayer, and pay the alms, then let them go their way; Allah is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.”

9:29: “Fight those who believe not in Allah and the Last Day and do not forbid what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden — such men as practise not the religion of truth, being of those who have been given the Book — until they pay the tribute out of hand and have been humbled.”

9:111: “Allah has bought from the believers their selves and their possessions against the gift of Paradise; they fight in the way of Allah; they kill, and are killed; that is a promise binding upon Allah in the Torah, and the Gospel, and the Koran; and who fulfils his covenant truer than Allah? So rejoice in the bargain you have made with Him; that is the mighty triumph.”

9:123: “O believers, fight the unbelievers who are near to you; and let them find in you a harshness; and know that Allah is with the godfearing.”

47:4: “When you meet the unbelievers, smite their necks, then, when you have made wide slaughter among them, tie fast the bonds; then set them free, either by grace or ransom, till the war lays down its loads. So it shall be; and if Allah had willed, He would have avenged Himself upon them; but that He may try some of you by means of others. And those who are slain in the way of Allah, He will not send their works astray.”

But of course the Bible is full of violence, too, eh? Sure, although there is actually nothing in it remotely equivalent to the Qur’an’s open-ended and universal commands to wage war against and subjugate unbelievers. And also, one finds the same calls to violence when one turns to the authoritative sources in Sunni Islam, the schools of Sunni jurisprudence (madhahib):

Shafi’i school: A Shafi’i manual of Islamic law that was certified in 1991 by the clerics at Al-Azhar University, one of the leading authorities in the Islamic world, as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy, stipulates about jihad that “the caliph makes war upon Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians…until they become Muslim or pay the non-Muslim poll tax.” It adds a comment by Sheikh Nuh Ali Salman, a Jordanian expert on Islamic jurisprudence: the caliph wages this war only “provided that he has first invited [Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians] to enter Islam in faith and practice, and if they will not, then invited them to enter the social order of Islam by paying the non-Muslim poll tax (jizya)…while remaining in their ancestral religions.” (‘Umdat al-Salik, o9.8).

Of course, there is no caliph today, and hence the oft-repeated claim that Osama et al are waging jihad illegitimately, as no state authority has authorized their jihad. But they explain their actions in terms of defensive jihad, which needs no state authority to call it, and becomes “obligatory for everyone” (‘Umdat al-Salik, o9.3) if a Muslim land is attacked. The end of the defensive jihad, however, is not peaceful coexistence with non-Muslims as equals: ‘Umdat al-Salik specifies that the warfare against non-Muslims must continue until “the final descent of Jesus.” After that, “nothing but Islam will be accepted from them, for taking the poll tax is only effective until Jesus’ descent” (o9.8).

Hanafi school: A Hanafi manual of Islamic law repeats the same injunctions. It insists that people must be called to embrace Islam before being fought, “because the Prophet so instructed his commanders, directing them to call the infidels to the faith.” It emphasizes that jihad must not be waged for economic gain, but solely for religious reasons: from the call to Islam “the people will hence perceive that they are attacked for the sake of religion, and not for the sake of taking their property, or making slaves of their children, and on this consideration it is possible that they may be induced to agree to the call, in order to save themselves from the troubles of war.”

However, “if the infidels, upon receiving the call, neither consent to it nor agree to pay capitation tax [jizya], it is then incumbent on the Muslims to call upon God for assistance, and to make war upon them, because God is the assistant of those who serve Him, and the destroyer of His enemies, the infidels, and it is necessary to implore His aid upon every occasion; the Prophet, moreover, commands us so to do.” (Al-Hidayah, II.140)

Maliki school: Ibn Khaldun (1332-1406), a pioneering historian and philosopher, was also a Maliki legal theorist. In his renowned Muqaddimah, the first work of historical theory, he notes that “in the Muslim community, the holy war is a religious duty, because of the universalism of the Muslim mission and (the obligation to) convert everybody to Islam either by persuasion or by force.” In Islam, the person in charge of religious affairs is concerned with “power politics,” because Islam is “under obligation to gain power over other nations.”

Hanbali school: The great medieval theorist of what is commonly known today as radical or fundamentalist Islam, Ibn Taymiyya (Taqi al-Din Ahmad Ibn Taymiyya, 1263-1328), was a Hanbali jurist. He directed that “since lawful warfare is essentially jihad and since its aim is that the religion is God’s entirely and God’s word is uppermost, therefore according to all Muslims, those who stand in the way of this aim must be fought.”

This is also taught by modern-day scholars of Islam. Majid Khadduri was an Iraqi scholar of Islamic law of international renown. In his book War and Peace in the Law of Islam, which was published in 1955 and remains one of the most lucid and illuminating works on the subject, Khadduri says this about jihad:

The state which is regarded as the instrument for universalizing a certain religion must perforce be an ever expanding state. The Islamic state, whose principal function was to put God’s law into practice, sought to establish Islam as the dominant reigning ideology over the entire world….The jihad was therefore employed as an instrument for both the universalization of religion and the establishment of an imperial world state. (P. 51)

Imran Ahsan Khan Nyazee, Assistant Professor on the Faculty of Shari’ah and Law of the International Islamic University in Islamabad. In his 1994 book The Methodology of Ijtihad, he quotes the twelfth century Maliki jurist Ibn Rushd: “Muslim jurists agreed that the purpose of fighting with the People of the Book…is one of two things: it is either their conversion to Islam or the payment of jizyah.” Nyazee concludes: “This leaves no doubt that the primary goal of the Muslim community, in the eyes of its jurists, is to spread the word of Allah through jihad, and the option of poll-tax [jizya] is to be exercised only after subjugation” of non-Muslims.

Blissfully or willfully ignorant of all this and much more, Rolheiser says: “It’s time to establish a greater solidarity with Islam.” With Islam, mind you — not with Muslims who genuinely reject all this and want to live in peace with non-Muslims as equals in a secular society without trying to gain hegemony over them. No, Rolheiser thinks the Catholic Church should establish greater solidarity with Islam, which denies that Jesus is the Son of God (Qur’an 19:35), denies that he was crucified (Qur’an 4:157), denies that he is divine (Qur’an 5:17 and 5:72), says that those who say Jesus is God’s Son are accursed (Qur’an 9:30) and calls upon Muslims to make war against and subjugate them (Qur’an 9:29).

When reality becomes so horrible as to be undeniable, people like Fr. Ronald Rolheiser and the publishers of Angelus will be asked why they kept their people ignorant and complacent in the face of the advancing jihad threat instead of preparing them for what was coming.

ron_rolheiser_omi

“Our Muslim brothers and sisters,” by Ronald Rolheiser, Angelus: The Tidings Online, December 3, 2015 (thanks to Duncan):

This is not a good time to be a Muslim in the Western world. As the violence perpetrated by radical Islamic groups such as ISIS, Al Qaeda and Boko Haram becomes more and more prevalent, huge numbers of people are becoming paranoid about, and even openly hostile towards, the Islam religion, seeing all Muslims as a threat.

Popular opinion more and more blames the Muslim religion itself for that violence, suggesting that there is something inherent in Islam itself that’s responsible for this kind of violence. That equation needs to be challenged, both in the name of truth and in the name of what’s best in us as Christians.

First of all, it’s untrue: Painting all Muslims with the same brush is like painting all Christians with the same brush, akin to looking at the most depraved man who calls himself a Christian and saying: “That’s Christians for you! They’re all the same!”

Second, it’s also unfair: Islamic militants no more speak for Islam than Hitler speaks for Christianity (and that comparison isn’t idly chosen). Finally, such an equation misleads our sympathy: The first victim of Islamic terrorism is Islam itself, namely, authentic God-fearing Muslims are the first victims of this violence.

When we look at the history of any terrorist Islamic group such as ISIS or Al-Qaeda, we see that it first establishes itself by terrorizing and killing thousands of its own people, honest, God-fearing Muslims. And it goes on killing them. ISIS, Al-Qaeda and Boko Haram have killed thousands more Muslims than they have killed Christians or persons of any other religion. While their ultimate target may well be the secularized Christian West, more immediately their real war is against true Islam.

Moreover the victims of Islamic terrorists are not just the thousands of moderate Muslims who have been direct victims of their violence and killings, but also all other Muslims who are now painted with the same brush and negatively judged in both their religiosity and their sincerity. Whenever Islamic terrorists perpetrate an act of violence, its victims are not just those who die, are injured, or who lose loved ones, it’s also all true Muslims, particularly those living in the West because they are now viewed through the eyes of suspicion, fear and hatred.

But the Muslim religion is not to blame here. There is nothing inherent in either the Koran or in Islam itself that morally or religiously undergirds this kind of violence.

We would holler “unfair” if someone were to say that what happened during the Inquisition is inherent in the Gospels. We owe Islam the same judgment. One of the great students of world religions, the renowned Houston Smith, submits that we should always judge a religion by its best expressions, by its saints and graced-history, rather than by its psychopaths and aberrations.

I hope that others offer us, Christians, this courtesy. Hitler was somehow a product of the Christian West, as was Mother Teresa. Houston Smith’s point is that the latter, not the former, is a truer basis for judging Christianity. We owe our Islamic brothers and sisters the same courtesy.

And that’s more a recognition of the truth than a courtesy. The word “Islam/Muslim” has its origins in the word “peace,” and that connotation, along with the concept of “surrender to God,” constitutes the essence of what it means to be a Muslim. And for more than 90 percent of Muslims in the world, that is exactly what it means to be a Muslim, namely, to be a man or woman of peace who has surrendered to God and who now tries to live a life that is centered on faith, prayer, responsibility and hospitality.

Any interpretation of Islam by a radicalized group that gives divine sanction to terrorist violence is false and belies Islam. Islamic extremists don’t speak for God, Mohammed, Islam, or for what it means to surrender in faith, but only for a self-serving ideology, and true Muslims are, in the end, the real victims of that.

Terrorist attacks, like the recent ones in Paris and Mali, call for more, not less, sympathy for true Muslims. It’s time to establish a greater solidarity with Islam, notwithstanding extremist terrorism.

We are both part of the same family: We have the same God, suffer the same anxieties, are subject to the same mortality, and will share the same heaven. Muslims more than ever need our understanding, sympathy, support and fellowship in faith.

Christian de Cherge, the Trappist monk who was martyred by Islamic terrorists in Algeria in 1996, wrote a remarkable letter to his family in France shortly before he died. Well aware that he had a good chance of being killed by terrorists, he shared with his family that, should this happen, they should know that he had already forgiven his killers and that he foresaw himself and them, his killers, in the same heaven, playing together under God’s gaze, a gaze that lovingly takes in all of God’s children, Muslims no less than Christians.\

IF YOU ARE SHORT OF TIME just sent him a link to this post at Jihadwatch, and add a reminder about how many Christians have been slaughtered to please bloodthirsty Allah.

The Roman Catholic Church was established in AD 1054, when the bishop of Rome separated from the Eastern Orthodox Church. That’s about 1000 years after Christ! So if any church has the claim to being established by Christ, it would be the Orthodox Church.

          Isaiah 14:12-13
O Lucipher, son of the morning!
[The English “Lucipher” is the Hebrew “heylel,” meaning brightness or morning star. But “heylel” is also a word in Arabic. Hebrew and Arabic are from the same neighborhood (the Middle East) and have many similarities. For example, if I say to you in Hebrew, “Shalom aleichem” it means “peace be upon you.” If I say to you In Arabic, “Salaam Alaikum” it means “peace be upon you.” Hebrew and Arabic have many similarities. So, just as “heylel” in Hebrew means brightness or morning star, heylel in Arabic means “crescent moon.” Atop every mosque in the world is a crescent moon.

Now, if the Bible tells us that Lucipher is the crescent moon, and there just happens to be a crescent moon atop every mosque on earth, then who is Islam worshiping? Islam is worshiping Lucipher. Allah is Satan. By the way, the crescent moon also adorns the flags of many Muslim nations. Here is a small sample.]

How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: I will ascend into heaven,
[Mohamed claims to have ascended to heaven on a jackass named Barack. You can come to your own conclusions about that name…]
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
[Which religion controls the Temple Mount in Jerusalem right now? Islam does. Islam was founded in Arabia, not Israel. It has no right to the Temple Mount, but it demands control of it anyway. This mention of sitting on the “mount of congregation” is also prophesied in the New Testament: “…he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.” ~ 2 Thessalonians 2:4. ]
          ~ Isaiah 14:12-13
The Bible is always proven true.

One would suppose that Fr. Ronald Rolheiser would understand the implications of his own words when saying, “..for more than 90 percent of Muslims in the world, that is exactly what it means to be a Muslim, namely, to be a man or woman of peace..”

Let’s be conservative and say 92% of Muslims are actually free of animosity toward Catholics and other unbelievers(mendacity on steroids). Then Fr. Ronald Rolheiser is suggesting that you should embrace a group in which 8 of every 100 are willing to permit or carry out violence to make you convert to Islam, submit to taxation and ridicule, or, be killed, for being Catholic.

Who would go shopping, to the movie, or out to dinner in Muslim neighborhood of Dearborn MI. if they knew 8 of every 100 Muslims believed they had a religious license to kill unbelievers?

And what about the fact that 100% of Muslims are instructed not to embrace unbelievers, which includes Catholics? Fr. Ronald Rolheiser is asking for a one-way love affair? We know how that works out.

What will happen to Fr. Ronald Rolheiser when his call for brotherly love, for the Ideology that seeks his destruction, is answered with attacks on “his” people? Will he sputter about peaceful Islam until the sword falls?

Kepha, these very thoughts have been on my mind since reading this article. Fr. Rolheiser seems to be saying that Islam and Christianity are near equivalents (“in the same family”). I gladly agree that God the Father is the father of us all, but reject the idea he is Allah as described in the Qur’an, yet Rolheiser seems to be implying this obliquely. And therein lays a paradox he can’t avoid; the God who sent his son as a perfect sacrifice for sin cannot also be Allah, who has no son, and accepts human effort as perfect righteousness. With a kind heart, and grateful for Christ’s grace, like all Christians Rolheiser wishes salvation for everyone. But like a child in catechism class he envisions God accepting human righteousness and good intentions, creating another quandary. For if what Fr. Rolheiser says is true, faith is unnecessary, Christ is unnecessary, and one path is as good as another, making him and the entire Catholic Church unnecessary. One could argue in the extreme that we could add to the peace of the world by all becoming Muslims.

Why is public opinion regarding Islam so important to Fr. Rolheiser? Are Muslims to be exempt from uncomfortable feelings as people discuss this force that is exerting itself though the world? What exactly would Dr. Rolheiser have us think about Islam, particularly as it is practiced where it has power and dominance? He seems to ask me to ignore my lying eyes as I observe events in much of the world. How supportive in faith would he be if Catholics left the Church in great numbers for Islam?

The Catholic Church was infected long ago with the worldliness of modernism, developing into full blown AIDS in the 1960’s at the Vatican II council, accelerating its collapse and made it incapable of defending itself. Authentic Catholicism is not taught by the “Catholic” Church today, but instead a modernist humansit philosphy with God stuff served as a side dish. Real Catholic men have left the Vatican II Church behind long ago – leaving the parishes, chanceries and cathedrals in the care off the fairies and the retards and parasites who suck money off the taxpayer, like the whores at the USCCB .

I will believe this to my dying day: the god of Islam is NOT the same as the God of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and Muhammad was NOT a prophet sent by the Triune God. How those claiming to be Catholic can think otherwise is beyond my comprehension …. unless they are willfully ignorant or are lying. This priest should be focusing on spreading the truth to the world in general and to Muslims in particular (as they are the first victims of Islam) and should forget about establishing “solidarity” with the devil. There is absolutely NO WAY Muhammad could have spoken in the name of the Triune God when he denied the divinity of Jesus ….NO WAY. How can this priest not understand that?

Of course you are correct. I also ask moslems: How do you reckon that God should have spent more than 4.000 years and many hundred men to write His Eternal words to Man, first in the Old Testament, then He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, who died on the Cross for our sins and trespasses and was raised from the dead (death could not keep Him) to save us from Hell and the devil. Several men, Jesus’ disciples, wrote the New Testament for all mankind to know God.
Then, all of a sudden, several hundred years later, God should have sent a nasty robber and pedophile to write an ‘edited’ version of God’s words?? Right!! And now this so-called ‘god’ should then order that the people he made a covenant with, the Jews, should now be eradicated? And so should the Christians, the very dearly bought followers of God’s Son, Jesus Christ? Exactly the Peoples of the Book did – and does, to this day – this ideology want to eradicate. Light can have no fellowship with darkness, and the devil hates the Light.
We Christians believe in the Holy Trinity: God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. Only Christians – people that have admitted to be sinners and have turned to Christ – will be saved and go to Heaven! You can rest assured that there will be NO muslim in Heaven!
Jesus was without sin. He was pure goodness, love and kindness. He was Son of God. Mohammad was soo much the opposite.

Priests and ministers were imprisoned and killed at Dachau arrested by Hitler and would be punished whenever a bishop or the Pope spoke out.

The vindication of Pius XII has been established principally by Jewish writers and from Israeli archives. It is now established that the Pope supervised a rescue network which saved 860,000 Jewish lives – more than all the international agencies put together

Mis-informed theology. Mary is not a co-savior, that is impossible. You are likely confused with the title sometimes used: “co-redemptrix” Which means one who cooperates with the work of Christ; (Like a movie co-star is subordinate to the star, but works with him) as all Catholics are supposed to work for the redemption of all, but only Jesus can be the Savior. Mary needed saving just like any other created being, which is why she said “my soul rejoices in God my Savior.” Catholics consider her role as like the Davidic Kingdom’s gebirah or “Queen Mother” – the intercessor for the people was the Mother of the King. The Pope is not the savoir either; his role is more like Christ’s lieutenant on earth, his office is like the Old Isrealite kingdom’s albyeet, who held the authority of the King while the King was away. (i.e. the “keys of the kingdom”)

The Roman Catholic Church has been shredding its respectability, credibility and believability since Vatican II (N.B., any Catholic who conveys to me that Vatican II was an accomplishment is a person whom I am forced to dismiss forthwith as someone lacking substance and common sense). A major contemporary Catholic figure like Benedict XVI, sadly, serves as nothing more than an example of a rear guard action (like Aetius in late antiquity) against the modern Catholic Church becoming thoroughly foolish, which is to say politically correct, multicultural, relativist, sentimentally gooey, an excuse maker for pure evil (here of course I reference Islam), anti-Western, sometimes actually suicidal, and, in general, just plain silly, as Father Rolheiser demonstrates across the board in microcosm.

I was raised a Catholic, but being born biochemically invincibly ignorant I rejected Catholicism and all religion at an early age (around 15) on purely intellectual grounds, though still retaining an admiration for the Catholic Church historically as an institution which has extensively promoted true civilization and absolute values. Don’t see much at all anymore of this, courtesy of 1) Pope Francis; 2) Father Rolhleisers aplenty; and 3) Vatican II, called by the Gandhi of Roman Catholicism, Pope John XXIII.

Ah, a major error, a major tragedy, in the making. So useless. So stupid. But so advantageous to Islam. It’s an inverse proportionality, to wit, as the Catholic Church gets further away from its roots, it destroys itself while at the same time feeding the religious beast which is Islam. Father Roelheiser is a case in point. Did I mention how tragic and stupid all this is?

The Vatican II council in the 1960’s foolishly embraced a heresy known as “Modernism” for all of you non-Catholics and ex-Catholics unfamiliar with currents in the Catholic Church. This is an essentially humanist philosophy which substitutes the dignity of Man in place of God. All of the problems being brought up here, including child abuse by homosexual priests, and the “we all worship the same God” nonsense is the result of that heresy. There are other myriad problems – Pope Francis and the cardinals surrounding him are all thoroughly Modernist so I don’t expect things will change soon.

Sexual abuse and failure to speak out against Muslim atrocities against Christians is only the latest betrayal. It’s symptomatic of the leadership failure in the church over the cause of its history.

Church has become rotten to the core. Sorry of this sounds harsh, but if so many priests can’t keep their dicks in their pants, and church defends, covers up and tries to justify such life and soul-destroying behaviour, you have a big problem in hand. People trust these bastards with their kids, for God’s sake.

How long has the abuse been happening? How many cases have gone unreported over the decades? Disturbing questions remain unanswered to this day because the church has not been forthcoming. Instead, it has been desperately trying to restore credibility following the exposure of sexual depravity within ‘sanctified’ church walls.

Church trying to be the good guy by wanting to be seen to be promoting peace, co-religious harmony. This is an example warped sense of logic seems has enveloped the church, quite possibly caused by the glare of publicity and trauma of being exposed of gross sexual misconduct and ungodly behaviour.

What elements within the church have in common with Mohammed is predilection for paedophilia. Maybe that’s why certain priests are quick to jump to the defence of Islam, and remain blind and mute about abuse against Christians.

Is the Catholic Church even Christian with its gross betrayal of Christians and Christian precepts.?

School districts keep it quiet and “pass the trash” from one district to another because teacher unions protect child molesters The problem in the institutional Catholic Church was and still is homosexuals in the priesthood and the bishops that protect them. Abusive priests get transferred to a new, unsuspecting parish, the diocese makes some payoffs and covers the whole thing up. The offending priest confesses and somehow that makes it all ok.

Why does canonization now only require 2 miracles instead of 4? Why was the roll of the Devil’s Advocate (Advocatus Diaboli) so marginalized as to effectively render it non-existent ( it has no power at all – where before it had a veto power if questions presented to the “Advocatus Dei” could not be sufficiently answered )

I wonder if that coincided with numerous sex abuse scandals decades ago and the selling of churches to pay off individuals – oh and to increase numbers of Catholics ( like in S America) to keep the money coming in. I don’t defend anything the perverts did nor their protectors nor those covering things up. I am a witness to this perversion myself, so I hate it too. But your statements implying all Catholic priests are predators is a lie made up in your lurid imagination. Its more like 4% of all active priests between 1950 and 2002 were even accused of abuse – a rate far lower than that of other males in the general population.
Newsweek April 7 2010: …based on the surveys and studies conducted by different denominations over the past 30 years, experts who study child abuse say they see little reason to conclude that sexual abuse is mostly a Catholic issue. ‘We don’t see the Catholic Church as a hotbed of this or a place that has a bigger problem than anyone else,’ said Ernie Allen, president of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children …Experts disagree on the rate of sexual abuse among the general American male population, but Allen says a conservative estimate is one in 10. Margaret Leland Smith, a researcher at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, says her review of the numbers indicates it’s closer to one in 5 …Since the mid-1980s, insurance companies have offered sexual misconduct coverage as a rider on liability insurance, and their own studies indicate that Catholic churches are not higher risk than other congregations … It’s been that way for decades.”
Do not forget : When the Church was sending accused priests to psychological treatment, the criminal justice system was doing the very same thing with convicted offenders – sending them to treatment instead of prison. So everyone was enthralled with the pseudo-science of psychology at the time and it failed.
According to The Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate, here are the numbers of accusations involving a current minor that were even deemed “credible” each year from 2005 to 2013 are 80. According to government numbers, in the single year of 2010 alone, there were some 63,527 reported cases of child sexual abuse in the United States. So the problem is actually much, much bigger in the society at large, but that fact doesn’t sell newspapers does it?
A 2004 U.S. Department of Education report reported that “the most accurate data available” reveals that “nearly 9.6 percent of [public school] students are targets of educator sexual misconduct sometime during their school career. I witnessed this too as a child, and again nothing was done.
In an early [1994] study of 225 cases of educator sexual abuse in New York, all of the accused had admitted to sexual abuse of a student but none of the abusers was reported to authorities.
As a contrast, the Vatican revealed Tuesday May 7 2014 that over the past decade, it has defrocked 848 priests who raped or molested children and sanctioned another 2,572 with lesser penalties, since 2004.
848 priests defrocked out of 414,000 priest worldwide is a rate of about 0.2% and it is still more than any other organization has done isn’t it?
Most Catholic priests are hard working and holy men, trying to do right by their faith, so to paint them with all with your lies tells me you are either ignorant or a liar too.

Suggest you do a little research, and not rely on a media that hates traditional Christian values, while refusing to draw attention to the endemic crimes of the same type being very much accepted in muslim doctrine. Public schools in the US, adoption agencies (non-christian are ones I am aware of), private music schools etc. all have higher rates of sexual abuse of pupils, than do RC churches…. Several other establishments are also guilty in greater numbers, but don’t let that get in the way of your hatred.

The problem was due to the degeneration of catholic teaching in catholic seminaries…. a straight, devout catholic aiming for the priesthood, would be subject to insult, discrimination and even abuse in what were termed ‘lavender seminaries’. And if you had actually had an interest in the issue, you would have discovered that the RC church finally did take action on this issue.

But don’t let that get in the way of your hatred.

By the way, I am not a catholic, and have little regard for the institution. But I feel no need to lie about its history, or current failings.

I have nothing against Christianity; I admire/support Christian ethics/values. But nothing Christian about paedophilia/covering it up. Paedophilia is despicable in itself, even more so when priests are involved; when covered up by religious establishment, which only owns up under pressure, and even then only partially; takes only half measures to rectify the situation, slapping offenders on the wrist, even sending some back to work; and offering only half-hearted apologies, with no compensation initially – what kind of church is this, ruled by who, and following whose ethics/vales? Unpardonable, regardless of Christian ethics, let’s make no bones about it.

Society hates paedophiles; it hates paedophile priests even more, with good reason. Conflating paedophilia in the Catholic church with other institutions is outrageous and downplaying the seriousness of the situation. Church should have zero tolerance policy – full stop, and make no excuses.

Church has done a lot of good, yes, but that will never absolve lack of action over sexual abuse and paedophilia. Like it or not, it’s a collective church responsibility (as with muslims for failing to sufficiently speak out against terrorism). The entire church is tainted for lack of decisive action. There should be no pulling of punches when vulnerable children are at risk. Church is accountable and should take full responsibility for the failures.

This going to be an ongoing battle. Pussyfooting around will not help root out the problem. Church should be named and shamed. To reestablish as safe a space as possible, we need to come down hard on the church, and its failures, for what is an unforgivable sin.

          Singh, glad for your sympathy.

I am a Protestant, but also a student of religious history. You are right to state that pedophilia has nothing to do with Christianity. Indeed, all traditional Christians admit that the divine pattern for sex is one man and one woman in a committed marriage until one of them dies. Predation on children is, thus a violation of the moral law. Speaking as someone who has served as a Presbyterian elder, I would also argue that any church that failed to act on the possibility of a clergyman or other adult abusing children of the congregation would be very remiss in its duties.

          Miao Zedong:

I fear that I may live long enough to mourn over the normalization of “consensual pedophilia”, abetted by learned judges saying, “Little Johnny agreed to Big Jack’s anal sex, and thus his plea that he didn’t know what he as getting into lacks merit. Case against Big Jack dismissed.”

And I will again go on record as believing that perhaps one reason why our Western civilization is threatened by the current furor islamicus–which promises to add nothing positive to the sum of man’s material or spiritual well-being and will probably subtract much from it–is that our culture has been loudly declaring for two centuries that it will not have Jesus Christ ruling over it.

    What’s this?

“But the Muslim religion is not to blame here. There is nothing inherent in either the Koran or in Islam itself that morally or religiously undergirds this kind of violence.”

That’s settles it; Islam has succeeded in the art of MIND CONTROL to control the cognizant attributes of normal human’s by quasi human’s, sub-human’s it should be said!

However, I will give some credit to the Oblate of Mary Immaculate Father for following CHURCH dogma:

Genesis 1:27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.…

Is he basing his errant thought that the Muslims, as humans, will continue to be part of God’s fold regardless of their horrible errors?

The problem here is that Islam doesn’t accept Christianity’s human creation account:

“Islam does not agree with this statement. Allah (SWT), God, has attributes which belong to Him alone, such as His being the Creator, the Provider, the One God, etc. These are characteristics which a created being cannot acquire.”

    http://www.iqrasense.com/allah/islamic-viewpoint-on-god-made-man-in-his-own-image.html

False statement: for they practice being god like when they judge and avenge; an attribute solely to be executed by God Himself!

What stupid, unmanly priestly nonsense, both his and that Trappist monk he admires, who, passively awaiting death, “foresaw himself and them, his killers, in the same heaven, playing together under God’s gaze, a gaze that lovingly takes in all of God’s children, Muslims no less than Christians.” Fuck your incapacity for rage, that confidence of heaven has ruined you! Far better the knight of the 12th century epic, Le Moniage de Guillaume. In this story, a fierce warrior who spent his life fighting Muslims decides to do penance for his sins by becoming a monk. His abbot sends him on an errand and warns him that if he is attacked by bandits, he may not defend himself, because monks cannot use force. When Guillaume heard this, he was enraged. “Master,” he said, “the rules of your order are too harsh. Such an order could come to a bad end, may God burden the person who set it up! The order of knighthood is much more worthwhile. They fight against Turks and Saracens, and allow themselves to be martyred for love of God. They are often baptized in their own blood, in order to conquer the kingdom of right. Monks only want to drink and eat, read and sing and sleep and snore. They are cooped up like hens, fattening up, daydreaming in their psalters. May God bring shame on this order, and Jesus curse whoever set it up, because he was a bad man and full of cowardice. The order of knighthood is more worthwhile because they fight the Saracen race, take their lands and conquer their towns, and convert them to our law.”

Rolheiser said: “But the Muslim religion is not to blame here. There is nothing inherent in either the Koran or in Islam itself that morally or religiously undergirds this kind of violence.”

Has Rolheiser studied the Koran, the Sira, the hadiths, the Sira, the canonical commentaries, the Sharia law manuals (with their chapters on jihad) as well as 1400 years of Islamic jihad history? No?

Then why is he an expert on jihad and why would anyone believe him.

Fr Henri Boulad of Alexandria, SJ, on the other hand, is of Arabic mother tongue and HAS studied Islam’s source texts IN THE ORIGINALS. Fr Boulad writes:

“Islamism is not a caricature, nor a counterfeit, nor a heresy, nor a fringe or atypical phenomenon versus classical, orthodox, Sunnite Islam … I think Islamism is naked Islam, Islam without a mask and without paint, Islam perfectly consistent and true to itself, an Islam that has the courage and lucidity to go all the way to its ultimate conclusions and final implications.

Islamism is Islam in all its logic and in all its rigour. Islamism is present in Islam as the chick is present in the egg, as the fruit is present in the flower and as the tree is present in the seed.

    But what is Islamism?

Islamism is political Islam, the bearer of a project for a model society and whose aim is to establish a theocratic state based on Sharia, the only legitimate law—since it is divine—since it was revealed and enshrined in the Koran and Sunna—it’s a law that applies to everything.

Here is an all-inclusive and all-encompassing project, one that is total, totalizing and totalitarian.”

    …………………………………………

Morever, does Ron Rolheiser know more about Islam than CALIPH AL BAGHDADI, PH.D.?

Caliph Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, who is the ISIS chief and the caliph of the Islamic State, is apparently the first Islamic Studies PhD from a Muslim background who has no idea about Islam.

Al-Baghdadi, who has obtained BA, MA and PhD degrees in Islamic studies from the Islamic University in Baghdad, has been condemned as a person who knows nothing about Islam, and as the head of an organization that has nothing to do with Islam.

The professors from the Islamic University of Baghdad, however, do not agree. They taught the caliph and believe his credentials and doctrines are sound.

“If a person who has a PhD in Islamic studies and does nothing but study the Islamic scriptures knows nothing about Islam, then who does?” questioned al-Baghdadi’s main teacher from the Islamic University, preferring to remain anonymous since the fatwa against ISIS and its chief puts his reputation into jeopardy.

“The wine-sipping Muslims, those hedonistic adulterers will tell the world what true Islam is? Obama and Cameron know more about Islam than the faculty of Islamic studies at the Islamic University in Baghdad?” the professor bellowed with rage, while talking to a journalist.
Another professor who had taught al-Baghdadi in BA said off the record that the Isis caliph was an ardent student.

“He had this obsession with Islamic studies. I used to tell him to go out and have some fun sometimes. But his idea of fun wasn’t too human friendly,” the professor said. “In any case he was a top student. One of the best I’ve ever had. Had the entire syllabus on his finger tips – to be honest, he knew more about Islamic studies than most of the professors.”

“While you can question whether they are humans or not, there is no doubt that ISIS, including Abu Bakr (al Baghdadi), are indeed bona fide Muslims,” concluded the ISIS caliph’s PhD professor.

Danish researcher Tina Magaard, Ph.D. concluded that Islam is the most warlike religion. After three years analyzing the original texts of ten different religions, Tina Magaard concluded that the Islamic texts stand out by encouraging terror and violence to a larger degree than other religions do. She stated that ‘Islamic texts encourage terror and fighting to a far larger degree than the original texts of other religions. The texts in Islam distinguish themselves from the texts of other religions by encouraging violence and aggression against people with other religious beliefs to a larger degree.’

“What is striking is not in itself that one can find murderous passages in the Islamic texts, as such passages can also be found in other religions. But it is striking how much space these passages take up in the Islamic texts, and how much they focus on an us-and-them logic in which infidels and apostates are characterized as dirty, rotten, criminal, hypocritical and dangerous. It is also striking how much these texts demand that the reader fight the infidels, both with words and with the sword. In many passages, Muhammad plays a central role as one who encourages the use of violence, whether it comes to stonings, beheadings, acts of war or execution of critics and poets.”

Tina Magaard finds it particularly objectionable that so many Islamic scholars in her opinion knowingly fail to disclose these facts, and use their positions of power to create specific standards for what you can say. Often, they also blame Danish racism rather than objectively stating that extremists actually find justifications for using violence and threats in Islam’s holy scriptures.…

This is all an evil flow down from Pope Francis, who is a dangerous moron.

As a Catholic I was proud of Pope Benedict XVI.

Benedict was a cerebral, holy, and brave man who confronted islam on the merits. This is part of his famous Regensburg speech. …

    http://w2.vatican.va/content/benedict-xvi/en/speeches/2006/september/documents/hf_ben-xvi_spe_20060912_university-regensburg.html

In the seventh conversation (διάλεξις – controversy) edited by Professor Khoury, the emperor touches on the theme of the holy war. The emperor must have known that surah 2, 256 reads: “There is no compulsion in religion”. According to some of the experts, this is probably one of the suras of the early period, when Mohammed was still powerless and under threat. But naturally the emperor also knew the instructions, developed later and recorded in the Qur’an, concerning holy war. Without descending to details, such as the difference in treatment accorded to those who have the “Book” and the “infidels”, he addresses his interlocutor with a startling brusqueness, a brusqueness that we find unacceptable, on the central question about the relationship between religion and violence in general, saying: “Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.”[3] The emperor, after having expressed himself so forcefully, goes on to explain in detail the reasons why spreading the faith through violence is something unreasonable. Violence is incompatible with the nature of God and the nature of the soul. “God”, he says, “is not pleased by blood – and not acting reasonably (σὺν λόγω) is contrary to God’s nature. Faith is born of the soul, not the body. Whoever would lead someone to faith needs the ability to speak well and to reason properly, without violence and threats… To convince a reasonable soul, one does not need a strong arm, or weapons of any kind, or any other means of threatening a person with death…”.[4]

Pope Francis, on the other hand, is a global warming moonie …

It is a tale of fatwas, takfir, carbon offsets, and jihad (or, in the outdated terminology of Wikipedia, papal bulls, excommunication, indulgences, and crusades, respectively). And Jan Hus’s put-down “Sancta Simplicitas!”, which is used today when commenting on a person’s stupid action and naïveté, could be applied to the clergy mentioned in this article.

On a different subject, the above-quoted Quran 9:111 refers to “a promise binding upon Allah”. What? How can Allah be bound by a promise, or by anything or anyone? This is heresy! It is a denial of Allah’s supreme power; see Quran 5:17, http://corpus.quran.com/translation.jsp?chapter=5&verse=17

    ____________________________________

As I have mentioned on this website, and also about twenty to twenty five times on Google+, Adolph Hitler was anti-Christian and pro-Islamic.

There are a number of quotes to back this up, not just one.
“The only religion I respect is Islam. The only prophet I admire is the Prophet Muhammad.”
    — Adolph Hitler, quoted by Ahmed Huber; Kevin Coogan, “The mysterious Achmed Huber: Friend to Hitler”

It is well documented that Adolph Hitler and also General Rommel were intensely popular in wartime Syria.Simply because they were fighting the British and killing Jews.
Hitler and Rommel were bigger in Syria than Mick Jagger and Keith Richards ever will be.
As of 2015, it is clearly impossible to talk sense to Anglicans and Catholics who toe the deluded party line.
The Anglicans and Catholics at this point have basically lost touch with reality.
The Anglican and Roman Catholics faiths are more than compromised. They have swallowed the poison and actively promote evil and fascism.
I never would have thought this possible ten years ago.
If someone had told me that by 2015 the Anglican and Catholic churches would be led to deny the uniqueness of the Rabbi Jesus, and then kowtow to Islam, I would reply they were mad to even suggest such rubbish.
Islam is a coin game and a massive swindle by sociopaths and psychopaths and it doesn’t even accept the canonical New Testament in terms of the crucifixion and so forth.
Catholic clergy are more dangerous to the open society now than the jihadis.
Well, I have the answer: secularism. Nothing else works. Too bad that I see people here and elsewhere unable to figure out what secularism means.
I can easily wipe the floor with Father Rolheiser in a quick one hour debate. He hasn’t gotten to square one. Of course, I’d prefer to take on a high end heavy, like Dr. Tariq Ramadan, the weasel.

But anyway, it’s basically true. Western “theology: is badly badly broken.” To repeat:
ANOTHER group of reasons to NOT kiss the Koran is:
    a) Islam is violently anti-Jewish in nature and practice.
    b) the Rabbi Jesus was a Jew.
    c) You can’t claim to follow the Laws and the Prophets based on wholesale rejection of the Laws and the Prophets. Or rejection of the New Testament, which turns out to be central to this stupid irrational anti-social delusional nonsense called Islam.

The cure for this delusion? Andrew Bostom’s books and the stuff from Dr. Bill Warner. Et lux in tenebris lucit. Fortunately Robert Spencer is here to set people straight. Thank goodness for that.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relations_between_Nazi_Germany_and_the_Arab_world

In speeches, Hitler made apparently warm references towards Muslim culture such as: “The peoples of Islam will always be closer to us than, for example, France”.[1]
A famous anecdote about Adolf Hitler’s perspectives towards Islam and the Arabs is recounted by Albert Speer in his best-selling memoir, Inside the Third Reich. Speer reports that “Hitler had been much impressed by a scrap of history he had learned from a delegation of distinguished Arabs.”[2] The delegation had speculated that the world would have become “Mohammedan” if the Berbers and Arabs had won the Battle of Tours in the 8th Century AD, and that the Germans would have become heirs to “a religion that believed in spreading the faith by the sword and in subjugating all nations to that faith. Such a creed was perfectly suited to the German temperament.”[3] Speer then presents Hitler’s claims on this subject:
Hitler said that the conquering Arabs, because of their racial inferiority, would in the long run have been unable to contend with the harsher climate of the country. They could not have kept down the more vigorous natives, so that ultimately not Arabs but Islamized Germans could have stood at the head of this Mohammedan Empire.[4]
This “exchange” occurred when Hitler received Saudi Arabian ruler Ibn Saud’s special envoy, Khalid al-Hud al-Gargani.[5] Earlier in this meeting Hitler noted that one of the three reasons why Germany had warm sympathies for the Arabs was:

… because we were jointly fighting the Jews. This led him to discuss Palestine and conditions there, and he then stated that he himself would not rest until the last Jew had left Germany. Kalid al Hud observed that the Prophet Mohammed … had acted the same way. He had driven the Jews out of Arabia ….[6]

Erwin Rommel was almost as popular as Hitler. Some Arabs used “Heil Rommel” as a common greeting in Arab countries. After France’s defeat by Nazi Germany in 1940, some Arabs were chanting against the French and British around the streets of Damascus: “No more Monsieur, no more Mister, Allah’s in Heaven and Hitler’s on earth.”[21] Posters in Arabic stating “In heaven God is your ruler, on earth Hitler” were frequently displayed in shops in the towns of Syria.[22]

Some wealthy Arabs who traveled to Germany in the 1930s brought back fascist ideals and incorporated them into Arab Nationalism.[23] One of the principal founders of Ba’athist thought and the Ba’ath Party, Zaki al-Arsuzi, stated that Fascism and Nazism had greatly influenced Ba’athist ideology. An associate of al-Arsuzi, Sami al-Jundi, wrote:

“We were racists. We admired the Nazis. We were immersed in reading Nazi literature and books that were the source of the Nazi spirit. We were the first who thought of a translation of Mein Kampf. Anyone who lived in Damascus at that time was witness to the Arab inclination toward Nazism. Michel Aflaq a founder of the Ba’athist philosophy admired Hitler and the Nazis for standing up to Britain and America. This admiration would combine aspects of Nazism into Ba’athism.”

This guy is the white Christian version of an Uncle Tom. Pathetic.

What the hell is solidarity with Muslims going to do? What? Are we suppose to link arms with Muslims in the streets of America and sing Kumbaya? Wow, that will really stop the Islamists in their tracks. If I were this guy, I would be telling Muslims that if their religion is worth a damn to them and is truly peaceful, they better get off their asses and start fighting back. If they truly want to coexist peacefully with other non-Muslims and want Americans to get behind them and support them, they need to start showing up on the streets en masse to show us they mean business. One Muslim here or one Muslim there isn’t going to cut it. Start calling out corrupt mosques and front groups like CAIR for what they are. Stop being apologists like the stupid Ahmadis. This truly is the Muslim’s fight. No one else can fight it for them. We can have their backs, but only after they show us that they mean business. I won’t hold my breath.

As a born and bred Catholic with a very Catholic education right through to university level I’ll say that I have come to despise the Catholic clergy of late. Since the 60s they’ve slowly but consistently been selling out the institution, their history and the faithful. I haven’t been to mass in a few years because I just connotations abide these priests demanding tolerance and patience for Muslims but defending not a single pesecuted Christian in Muslim countries. I think Francis preaching about global warming at the recent gathering of bishops in Rome without even aentire of the persecuted Christians across the Islamic word says everything I need to know about this papacy”s priorities.

You are experiencing the modernist heresy espoused by Vatican II, which is humanist philosophy disguised with some God words. Francis is a modernist fool who loves and craves the acceptance of the world more than God. Go to the Remnant website for some background. The current Church is on full throttle stupid. Try to find an SSPX or FSSP parish and try a Latin Mass to experience the Real Sacrifice of the Mass and not a Novus Ordo hug-fest.

This is not a good time to be a Muslim in the Western world.

Why? They get treated as a special, protected class. It certainly beats being a shiite in ISIS controlled territory, for example.

As the violence perpetrated by radical Islamic groups such as ISIS, Al Qaeda and Boko Haram becomes more and more prevalent, huge numbers of people are becoming paranoid about, and even openly hostile towards, the Islam religion, seeing all Muslims as a threat.

What’s “paranoid” about distrusting muslims based on empirical evidence? There are islamic groups all over the world torturing, raping and killing non-muslims and justifying their actions with islamic teachings. Christians running away from ISIS tell of muslims neighbours whom they regarded as close friends throwing them to the wolves – try telling them that they’re paranoid for distrusting muslims.

Popular opinion more and more blames the Muslim religion itself for that violence, suggesting that there is something inherent in Islam itself that’s responsible for this kind of violence.

Not “popular opinion”, facts – as far as I can see, the “popular opinion” is still that islam is “A Religion Of Piece That’s Been Hijacked By A Tiny Minority Of Extremists And If You Even Think About Distrusting A Muslim Or Fail To Denounce Those Who Draw Attention To The Violent Nature Of Islamic Texts Then You’re A Bigoted, Racist Islamophobe And You Should Be Sent To Jail And Suffer For The Rest Of Your Life For Being Against A Multicultural Paradise”

That equation needs to be challenged, both in the name of truth and in the name of what’s best in us as Christians.

What needs to be challenged in the name of the truth is the notion that islam is a “religion of peace”. There’s nothing unchristian about looking at facts. Much to the contrary – by obscuring the nature of a treat you’re in fact contributing to i strengthen the threat.

First of all, it’s untrue: Painting all Muslims with the same brush is like painting all Christians with the same brush, akin to looking at the most depraved man who calls himself a Christian and saying: “That’s Christians for you! They’re all the same!”

I’m getting mixed messages over here – on one hand, our elected leaders, opinion makers and people who should know better (like, for example, members of the Catholic Church, a Church that, for centuries, stood strong against the mohammedan threat and, I dare say, if not for it Europe would have been conquered centuries ago) tell us that the islamic state isn’t islamic and that the people who kill in the name of allah are not muslims. On the other hand, our elected leaders, opinion makers and people who should know better warn us that not all muslims are terrorists. Which is it? Are there any muslim terrorists to speak of? Is the islamic state not islamic? Are those who profess allegiance to it and go kill for allah muslims or not? Like I said, mixed messages.

While it’s true that saying that all muslims are terrorists is factually false (if, for no other reason, because muslims living in same-sect muslim-majority countries may have difficulties to find anyone to wage jihad against), it’s simply not the same as claiming that, for example, the Westboro Baptist Church represents all Christians. Religions are defined not by what those professing allegiance to it do but by what their texts say. And, considering what islamic texts say, there’s more than enough evidence to be suspicious of muslims on a degree proportional to their demonstrated devoutness.

Second, it’s also unfair: Islamic militants no more speak for Islam than Hitler speaks for Christianity (and that comparison isn’t idly chosen).

If that comparison isn’t idly chosen, I can only induce that you’re being deliberately disingenuous. Hitler did not defend his actions based on Christian texts and teachings. In fact, as far as I know, Hitler despised Christianity as being an offshoot of Judaism. He really liked islam though – according to him, had the muslim invaders who were stopped by Charles Martel in 732 at the battle of Tours conquered Europe, Germany would have been islamized and the German people, energized by a religion that exhorts its adherents to wage war, would have conquered the world.

Finally, such an equation misleads our sympathy:

This shouldn’t be about “sympathy” but facts.

The first victim of Islamic terrorism is Islam itself, namely, authentic God-fearing Muslims are the first victims of this violence.

OK, first of all, islam is one thing, muslims are another. Islam are words on a paper or thoughts on a brain, muslims are human beings. Killing human beings doesn’t turn words on a paper into victims. Second, the human beings being killed may profess to be muslims, and you may consider them to be muslims, but those killing them certainly don’t – at best hypocrites, at worst heretics. And what does islam says about heretics and hypocrites?

When we look at the history of any terrorist Islamic group such as ISIS or Al-Qaeda, we see that it first establishes itself by terrorizing and killing thousands of its own people, honest, God-fearing Muslims. And it goes on killing them.

See above. Those groups, and the islamic state in particular, justify their actions with islamic orthodoxy and teachings. Apparently, if a muslim is devout enough and follows islamic teachings as close as he can, he ends up becoming a non-muslim. Not really sure how that works.

ISIS, Al-Qaeda and Boko Haram have killed thousands more Muslims than they have killed Christians or persons of any other religion.

    Huh, so what? See above.

While their ultimate target may well be the secularized Christian West, more immediately their real war is against true Islam.

No, their “real war” is to get muslims who are not following “true islam” to follow “true islam” – the one with the killing of apostates chopping of limbs and death for heretics and hypocrites. Going by your “logic”, Catholicism and Protestantism must not be “true Christianity” – I certainly remember you killing one another by the hundreds of thousand on the grounds of your religion in the 16th and 17th century.

    • Angemon says

      Dec 28, 2015 at 9:39 am

      (2/2)

Moreover the victims of Islamic terrorists are not just the thousands of moderate Muslims

Seemingly moderate. Also, what’s the deal with the “moderate” quantifier? If the muslims who are killing other muslims are not muslims at all, then those muslims who are not killing other muslims are not “moderate” muslims, they’re just muslims. Like I said, mixed messages.

who have been direct victims of their violence and killings, but also all other Muslims who are now painted with the same brush and negatively judged in both their religiosity and their sincerity.

Keep in mind what islam teaches: non-muslims are to be subjugated, via war, and made to convert or live as dhimmies – third class semi-slaves. If you, knowing this, know of very religious muslims are don’t see anything wrong with that, you need to have your brain examined – your amygdala, the part of your brain responsible for assessing threats, is severely atrophied, if not outright missing.

Whenever Islamic terrorists perpetrate an act of violence, its victims are not just those who die, are injured, or who lose loved ones, it’s also all true Muslims, particularly those living in the West because they are now viewed through the eyes of suspicion, fear and hatred.

Not an argument – appeal to emotions is the penultimate resort of those who don’t have logic and reason on their sides.

But the Muslim religion is not to blame here.

Yes, it is. How else do you explain the accounts of Westerners, born and raised in the West and according to Western culture, who convert to islam and go out and kill people?

There is nothing inherent in either the Koran or in Islam itself that morally or religiously undergirds this kind of violence.

Yes, it is. Have you tried reading the quran and the biography of muhammad? I already ruled out ignorance when you made that comparison with Hitler, so all that’s left is intentional deceive – you’re intentionally deceiving people.

We would holler “unfair” if someone were to say that what happened during the Inquisition is inherent in the Gospels. We owe Islam the same judgment.

Do we? If islam teaches muslims to wage war on non-muslims then we don’t owe it anything – muslims are killing people all around the world because islam teaches so, and making false equivalences with the Inquisition serves no good purpose.

One of the great students of world religions, the renowned Houston Smith, submits that we should always judge a religion by its best expressions, by its saints and graced-history, rather than by its psychopaths and aberrations.

Then he’s a fool, since religions should always be judged by what they teach rather than by what people professing to be their followers do.

I hope that others offer us, Christians, this courtesy. Hitler was somehow a product of the Christian West,

See above. While Hitler was born and raised in “the Christian West”, he did not use Christianity to justify his actions. Like I stated above, he despised Christianity.

      as was Mother Teresa.

We get it – you’re not trying to be taken seriously, and comparing Madre Teresa with Hitler is just hammering that point home.

Houston Smith’s point is that the latter, not the former, is a truer basis for judging Christianity. We owe our Islamic brothers and sisters the same courtesy.

Nope. Judge a religion by what it teaches, not by what its professed adherents do.

And that’s more a recognition of the truth than a courtesy. The word “Islam/Muslim” has its origins in the word “peace,” and that connotation, along with the concept of “surrender to God,” constitutes the essence of what it means to be a Muslim.

Not “peace”, “submission”. A muslim is someone who submits to allah and puts its orders into practice, even if they disagree with them (see quran 2:216)

And for more than 90 percent of Muslims in the world, that is exactly what it means to be a Muslim, namely, to be a man or woman of peace who has surrendered to God and who now tries to live a life that is centered on faith, prayer, responsibility and hospitality.

      Not according to Pew data.

Any interpretation of Islam by a radicalized group that gives divine sanction to terrorist violence is false and belies Islam.

Where’s the evidence for that often-repeated assertion?

Islamic extremists don’t speak for God, Mohammed, Islam, or for what it means to surrender in faith,

They claim they do, and they extensively quote from islamic teaching to back their case. And I don’t see any mainstream islamic sect teaching something different.

but only for a self-serving ideology, and true Muslims are, in the end, the real victims of that.

      That ideology being islam.

Terrorist attacks, like the recent ones in Paris and Mali, call for more, not less, sympathy for true Muslims. It’s time to establish a greater solidarity with Islam, notwithstanding extremist terrorism.

Like I said, your amygdala is not working properly.

We are both part of the same family: We have the same God, suffer the same anxieties, are subject to the same mortality, and will share the same heaven. Muslims more than ever need our understanding, sympathy, support and fellowship in faith.

Oh, for f***’s sake. Do you even know what islam teaches about Christianity? It teaches that Jesus is not divine, did not die in the Cross and did not return to life. It teaches that previous prophets – including Jesus – were muslims and taught the same as muhammad, but their followers distorted those teachings into Christianity as we know it today. It teaches that the Trinity is God, Jesus and Mary. And it teaches that all of that is heresy and it should be dealt with using brute force. If you think that muslim and Christians have the same God, your only logical choice is to convert to islam.

This lying pandering traitor to rationality and civilization can be contacted here:

    info@ronrolheiser.com

Anyway, I sent him this little Truth Missive:

“Fr. Roflmfao: I’ve never seen so many entirely fact-free opinions presented as facts.
You are quite the accomplished lying panderer!

Let me tear you a new one, point-by-point, paragraph by paragraph:

1.) People aren’t becoming “paranoid” (which is a mental illness where one is scared of everything all the time for no reason what so ever) about islam and muslims – they are becoming educated as to what the Qur’an really says. Perhaps you should take a hint and actually risk your own prejudices by opening one up.

2.) In the name of Truth, there is something inherent in Islam itself that’s responsible for this kind of violence… and it’s not there because of our opinions.

3.) This is true, and islam’s own Qur’an is what paints all muslims with the same brush, because it alone is the authority which defines what a “muslim” is and is not, and what he or she thinks and does, and how they do not think and do not act. And unlike Christianity, islam itself is entirely depraved and endorses same.

4.) Hitler himself spoke for islam, not Christianity:

“The only religion I respect is Islam. The only prophet I admire is the Prophet Muhammad.”

    – Adolf Hitler (from “The Mysterious Achmed Huber: Friend to Hitler”)

“Had Charles Martel not been victorious at Poitiers … then we should in all probability have been converted to Mohammedanism, that cult which glorifies the heroism and which opens up the seventh Heaven to the bold warrior alone. Then the Germanic races would have conquered the world. Christianity alone prevented them from doing so!”

    – Adolf Hitler

“The heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of Christianity … The deliberate lie in the matter of religion was introduced into the world by Christianity.

I’ll make these damned parsons feel the power of the state in a way they would have never believed possible. For the moment, I am just keeping my eye upon them: if I ever have the slightest suspicion that they are getting dangerous, I will shoot the lot of them. This filthy reptile raises its head whenever there is a sign of weakness in the State, and therefore it must be stamped on. We have no sort of use for a fairy story invented by the Jews.”

[Quoted from Hitler’s “Table Talks” with Bormann, in Hitler: A Study in Tyranny by Allan Bullock.]

Mein Kampf was written in 1923. In 1926, the Indian Muslim activist al-Mashriqi met with Hitler in Germany and reported that:

“I was astounded when he [Hitler] told me that he knew about my Tazkirah. The news flabbergasted me. . . I found him very congenial and piercing. He discussed Islamic Jihad with me in details.”

And Mashriqi would continue to have important communications with Hitler after that time:

“In 1930 I sent him my Isharat concerning the Khaksar movement with a picture of a spade-bearer Khaksar at the end of that book. In 1933 he started his Spade Movement.”

There has always been a warm relationship between muslims and Germans … at least a dozen muslim volunteer groups fought in various SS divisions in ww2… the Handschar division, the Skanderbeg division, Freies Arabien legion, various Azerbaijan (azeri) and Turkmenistani regiments…

After meeting with Yasser Arafat’s Uncle, the Grand Mufti of ‘palestine,’ Haj-Amin al-Husseini (who was blonde and had blue eyes) Adolf Hitler incorrectly revised his racist notions to include Arabs as the descendants of the Romans, rather than the cousins of the Jews.

Did we sympathize with Nazis during WWII, or did we oppose them?

5.) Just because the Corleones and Gambinos gang up against the Tattaglia Families, doesn’t mean they are poor victims of the Mafia.

ISIS, al-Queada and Boko Haram ARE THE TRUE ISLAM… a fact you’d be able to admit to, had you the courage to read the Qur’an.

6.) Muslims are neither sincere nor religious. Islam was deliberately and very specifically designed to spread fear and hatred. Islam is not a faith at all, since muslims have no faith in their own crime-god’s desires nor power to enforce even its own most basic us-against-you and might-makes-right tenets. At worst, all ‘real’ religions only say:

“Obey our silly rules, or GOD (/’the gods’) will get you!”

    But ONLY islam says:

“Obey our silly rules, or WE will get you (‘for god’)!”

A forced faith isn’t a faith at all – it’s only criminal extortion.

7.) There is nothing either religions nor moral in islam or the Qur’an, BECAUSE it inherently endorses and commands all that violence. If you had dared to read it, you’d know enough not to lie so much now.

8.) Islam has no good examples. Houston Smith would realize islam is a violent aberration created by a psychopath to excuse his own crimes.

9.) The only courtesy we owe anyone is the Truth; it doesn’t matter if Hitler pretended he was a Christian (he did not, see above) because the Christian canon does not endorse, and specifically opposes, what he did. If a criminal pretends to commit his crimes in your name, it doesn’t matter because unless you told him to (as Muhammad did) then you can’t be blamed, whether by one invoking “courtesy” or not.

We do not owe criminals out to extort, enslave, rob and murder us any “courtesies” whatsoever, beyond exposing them as criminals.

10.) The word islam means Submit to extortion, not to surrender to god (except that islam’s sick version of a god is an extortive slaver).

And muslims do not have any faith, nor do they pray for responsibility – islam and it’s “allah” is only their excuse to remain irresponsibly wrong. And, as for hospitality – it applies only to other muslims – all infidels are sentenced to “Death By Muslim!” simply for our “crime” of not being muslims ourselves! All of which terms and conditions are in the Qur’an.

11.) There is no possible “interpretation” of islam allowed, because the Qur’an correctly declares that it is clear and easy to read, and contains no metaphors. The metaphoric so-called “Gates of Ijtihad” (personal interpretation) have been ‘closed’ for over 1,000 years, according to all the most official islamic muslim scholars themselves.

The word ‘radical’ means ‘goes to the root of’ and one can not be an
‘extremist’ without something to base that extremity on; for instance, some Christians are ‘extremely’ loving, as advised by the Bibles, while many muslims are ‘extremely’ hateful, as the Qur’an commands.

Islam was a self-serving ideology of crime created by Muhammad.

12.) Islam is the cause of muslim terrorism. We should not show any solidarity at all with the global crime-gang which causes such terror.

13.) Islam is completely immoral and the muslims worship Satan.

14.) NO part of Christianity asks pre-forgiveness of one’s murderers except for Christ’s own death, which was supposed to eliminate it.
Salvation absolution and forgiveness only comes when one repents of one’s crimes and seeks to offer restitution to one’s victims, not before.

Islam does not endorse such behavior and neither should you on its behalf. REPENT of your lies, “Father” or remain forever a DAMNED LIAR.”

The Catholic church is an abomination before God and it know it. The homosexuality, pedophilia and greed it displays is sickening. Maybe the Pope feels guilty about what the Catholic church has done over the centuries and as such feels it is OK for the Muslims to wreak havoc on him. Well, don’t count the rest of us in on that kind of thinking. We are not guilty of the same things by extension or association. Maybe instead of turning the other cheek, the Pope should grab his ankles.
