Hugh Fitzgerald: Islam Is Not A Mystery

Jan 22, 2016 11:20 am By Hugh Fitzgerald

quran

Islam is not a hieratic mystery, which only the initiated, a special priesthood, can possibly understand. It is, rather, sufficiently grasped by more than a billion people who, save for a handful, have been born into it, and have grown up in societies suffused with it, societies where it is impermissible to question Islam, to ponder whether its directives make moral or intellectual sense, and where any open display of questioning is punished, and any putative blasphemy or any open admission of apostasy, can result, in many cases, in a death sentence carried out not only by the Muslim state, but also by  the informal meting out of Muslim justice by Believers who can, on their own, enforce Islamic law.

The written accounts upon which Islam rests are three: first,  the Qur’an, believed by Muslims to be outside of history, exempt from any historical study (which can be punished), Uncreated and Immutable; second, the collections of stories of what Muhammad said and did (and these have been assigned levels of authenticity after careful study by the muhaddithin — Muslim scholars who centuries ago studied the chains of transmission, or isnad-chains, of each story, and on the basis of such study assigned ranks of “authenticity” to each Hadith); third, the Sira, that is, the biography of Muhammad, which of course overlaps the Hadith considerably (and may have been woven out of the Hadith, or vice-versa). Together the Hadith and the Sira constitute what is called the Sunnah, that is, the manners and customs of the earliest Muslims, that offer a gloss or guide to the meaning of the Qur’an, and to the way a Muslim should behave in every aspect of his life. Some believe, or claim to believe, that the Sunnah is more ferocious than the Qur’an, and responsible for the co-called “radicalisation” of Muslims. There are those who claim that the way out for Muslims is to somehow jettison  both the Hadith and the Sira, and – as one young Turk, Mustafa Akyol, a self-consciously Brave Young Reformer, used to argue — Muslims need to keep only the Qur’an, that is, rely on “sola scriptura.” (Akyol is not alone in trying to assimilate terms taken from the history of Christianity and the Reformation, and misleadingly apply them to the case of Islam.) To this notion of doing away, in Islam, with any reliance on the Hadith and Sira, to getting a billion Sunnis (a word derived from the “Sunnah”) to accept this, one can only reply: Fat Chance.

These written works — Qur’an, Hadith, Sira, and commentaries on all three — are easily available. You can find them online, a click away, and can also find online hundreds or thousands of websites, in English and other European languages, as well as in the languages most associated with Islam and Muslims (Arabic, Urdu, Farsi, various forms of Bahasa) devoted to answering queries of all kinds, websites where ordinary Muslims ask questions of clerics — about all the matters of daily life, food, dress, personal hygiene, sexual behavior, family law. You, too, can eavesdrop on these. And you can find out, again by such eavesdropping, how Muslims are taught to regard, and to treat, Unbelievers, especially in the pronouncements on Infidels from high-ranking clerics, including the Sheik Al-Azhar, from Saudi clerics, from Iranian clerics, from Muslim clerics from all over the world. All of this is available. You might start online with the excellent translation services of Muslim material — including what political figures, clerics, diplomats, officials from the Muslim world are saying to their own people — to be found at www.MEMRI.org.

But how many people will take the time to avail themselves of such material, available in such plenty? Among those who keep reassuring us about Islam — Obama or Cameron or Merkel — how many of our leaders do you think  have even once gone to MEMRI.org, or to Jihad Watch, or read a single one of the books by the Defectors from Islam? I kept hoping Obama might meet with Ayaan Hirsi Ali, whose personal testimony as to Islam, delivered with such relentless indignation, just might, I dreamed, have some effect on Obama. Such a meeting was not to be; it would have been politically incorrect. Still, I think it would be useful to ask aloud (perhaps some Republican candidate might do the asking): “Why, President Obama, could you not have met with Ayaan Hirsi Ali?” — even if we know the answer, and know we won’t be given it.

Aside from the distraction that the Internet provides, when we do start to look up Muslim websites, we find the very names  off-puttingly foreign. If you are the kind of person who cannot make it through War and Peace because of all those Russian names and patronymics you cannot keep straight, then you might have some initial difficulty with reading about Islam – think just of such words as “Hadith” and “Sira,” or “dhimmi” and “jizyah,” and what barriers to mental entry they pose to so many. And there is also the question of the sheer surpassing boredom of it all, as the Total Belief-System of Islam, is, in its details, horribly uninteresting. Think only of having to read through a recital, before every hadith, of the relevant isnad-chain – the chain of oral transmission of the particular story, right back, if possible, to the time of Muhammad, with all the various human links on that chain, as A said to B said to C, solemnly imparted, when we all know, if we are non-Muslims, what a large amount of fantasy and make-believe goes into the claims for these isnad-chains and their solemn studiers.

But at least you can learn about how Hadith were winnowed by the muhaddithin (Hadith scholars), and which muhaddithin (Bukhari, Muslim) are regarded as most authoritative by Muslims, and why, and just how the study of the isnad-chains, and the assigning of rank of “authenticity” to each of the putative Hadith through such study, is accomplished.  In learning about all this, there is difficulty, there is boredom, but there is no mystery.

And you have available, as well, the great non-Muslim scholars of Islam, those who began to subject Islam to the same kind of approach as, beginning in the latter part of the 19th century, was given by  German and English Protestant historians to the study of Christianity, a study known as the Higher Criticism. That is, instead of accepting the Muslim narrative about Islam, Western scholars tried to study Islam as they would anything else, with the Qur’an and Hadith “put back into history.” Among those who studied and wrote in such uninhibited fashion were such scholars as C. Snouck Hurgronje, Joseph Schacht, David Margoliouth, Georges Vajda, Arthur Jeffrey, Henri Lammens, Samuel Zwemer, St. Clair Tisdall, K. S. Lal. But this golden age of Western scholarship came to an end when Arab money bought up so many academic departments, or was responsible for the opening of “Centers for the Study of Islam” (think only John Esposito at Georgetown and his Saudi backers), where the Islamic narrative about Islam ruled the roost, and critical study of Islam in universities was no longer possible. Still, the work of those scholars of Islam from that Golden Century of Scholarship — from about 1870 to 1970 — is available not only in large libraries, but for sale in cheap Indian editions, and can also be found online.

You, an Unbeliever, now have easily available not only Qur’an, Hadith, and Sira, but the most important Qur’anic commentators, jurisconsults, historians (Muslim and non-Muslim) of 1400 years of Muslim conquest of and interaction with many different non-Muslim peoples. There should be no mystery about Islam.

But mystery about Islam there still seems to be, all over the Western world. Why should this be so, and what are the consequences of the failure of so many in the West to learn about, or to know about, or to make sense of, the Total Belief-System of Islam, needs to be pondered.

      Thank you, Always,

Quote: “people choose to be dumb as rocks about Islam”

Islam is not a ‘salad bar’…as Western DHIMMI-DUMMIES seem to believe…but a ‘menu fixe’ that is highly codified.

The rules of Islam are established by the fatwa department at Al Azhar University in Cairo and are not subject to challenges or interpretations by ordinary Muslims…such as the assuring, anecdotal evidences we often hear from Muslim apologists. THEY ARE NOT THE AUTHORITATIVE SCHOLARS OF AL AZHAR UNIVERSITY.

Fatwas from Al Azhar are all obligatory upon all Sunnite Muslims of which there are about one billion.

Nevertheless, as many as 35% Sunnites are non-practicing ‘cultural Muslims’ who see the label ‘Muslim’ as a mere cultural identity or a cultural relic. 35% of Muslims are secularized and have no time for Sharia. They are silent because they are out-voted by the two-thirds who want to enforce Sharia upon the 35% doubters. Secularized Muslims are virtual non-Muslims who do not want to be killed by practicing Muslim vigilantes.

The problem is not what Western leaders believe in thought towards Islam. The democratic socialist bureaucracies of nations are now bankrolled not with taxes but through the backdoor infusion of Saudi cash. Simply look to the administrators of academic institutions; sillyness to believe they’ve also bought the politician of every Western nation?

T’anks for those numbers, Pere LaChaise

Familiarizing oneself with Islam leads to the discovery for clues to put the Beast to sleep; never to awaken. The cut to its jugular, severing this link in the minds of the masses between their Mo and the Creator, is a beautiful thought to imagine.

To the extent that a ‘slime retains a scintilla of vestigial morality, you can appeal to his sense of shame. In Tabari VIII, you can find the sad story of Kinanna & Safiya and how Moe interfered in their lives. Confronted whth what his profit did, the moral ‘slime must feel a pang of shame.

Dig up the story of the slaughter of the Banu Qurayzah from Bukhari and slap the ‘slimes in the snout with it.

Dig into Ash-Shifa, about page 717 to find the long list of murders commissioned or condoned by moe. Rub their snouts in it.

Dig up the second volume of Hayat ul-Qulub and look up the story of Moe telling Khadija on her deathbed, to greet his wives in Paridise. There he makes himself out Christ’s stepfather. In Bukhari, he claims to be his half brother.

Wanna get a Catholic’s attention? Show him Allah married Mary, Mother of Jesus to Moe in Jhanna. Pope Francis??!

Didja know that Moe was demon possessed? That he was suicidal? Didja tell a’slime? Why not?

ANOTHER SUPERB FOUNDATIONAL RESOURCE BY MR. FITZGERALD.

The first paragraph contains these words: ” . . . whether its directives make moral or intellectual sense.” Pam Geller threw her own two cents into the pickle barrel about that some months ago: “There is no reason in Islam.”

She certainly will not get an argument from me on that contention.

The first thing that I did after 9/11, the moment of my wake-up call, was find a Quran and read through some of it. I also went to the public library and grabbed as many books about Islam as I could find.

Reading The Sword of the Prophet “did it” for me. Now, of course, we have many additional books analyzing Islam.

There is no excuse for infidels not to understand what Islam really is — geopolitical ideology antithetical to Western civilization.

The world will sink in a New Dark Age precisely because the West’s leaders have lost their moxie and have chosen to believe that they wish Islam were. It is not what they wish it were. Period.

of course, we have many additional books analyzing Islam.

Actually we have many more books and media materials whitewashing Islam. It’s a labyrinth for the seeker of answers.

After 9/11, hardly anyone did what you did. And probably, *most* of those who did first found the vast supply of books that only confuse, that project what some western writer thinks or wants to believe onto the subject of islam. And they got no further, quitting with a head full of mush on the matter.

Only after swimming/crawling through the bog of confused and corrupt false analyses for an annoyingly long time, did I eventually push past it. Bat Ye’or’s “Islam and Dhimmitude” did it for me.

When I got a dial up acct. in july of ‘o1 I began lurking on a mid east tension msg. board. There I found and followed many links, one was to The Prophet Of Doom. I spent a month reading its 1000 pages. That did it for me.

When I saw the plane hit the tower I knew immediately what was up and I cursed Islam until my throat was too sore to continue. Could not talk for three days.

May Satran seize the Islamophiles by their throats and drop into Hell with them!

Go to archive.org/ search for, download and read “The Book Of Jihad”. That will be sufficient.

mortimer says :”Western elites are in a CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE about jihad.”
          ————————————————–

You opened a can of worms here, and I agree, by and large.

I will outline some of the jigsaw pieces in the next paragraph. I am currently writing on Islam for A) Muslims + non Muslims, and B) For non Muslims + Muslims. The idea is to take the fight to them, as it were. I will quote from these writings, and hopefully in a comprehensible manner, since they are from different sections.

Commencing with ‘conspiracy’. Yes, you are right to an extent, but often, or usually, it requires only a convergence of interests. Particularly money. Let’s go back to the mid seventies and the oil embargo, and from there fast forward to 2010:

“… If you don’t understand that, follow the money – or the oil, if you think there’s a difference. Since the oil embargo in the mid seventies until 2010, the OPEC countries received between 25 and 30 trillion dollars, in cash. Most of it went into the Arabian peninsula. If you don’t comprehend that number, a trillion has twelve zeros. It looks like this: 25-30,000,000,000,000.00 in other words, those countries have received since the mid seventies on average a daily amount of 2.1 billion dollars. To translate that into zeros, it’s $2,100,000,000.00 per day on average…”

Please count the zeros. The embargo ended when the West conceded to most of their demands with the required concessions. Openly or hidden, and the submission occurred over time – no need to alarm the public.

So, get the above under your belt, and let’s continue…

“However, the West did not realize how a large chunk of that money would be spend. Namely…”

“… Money, money, money. More than $100 billion has been spent by Saudi Arabia alone on exporting Sunni Islam, over the past three decades. Though, it might well be more. Consider that $100 billion reads as: $100,000,000,000.00; count the zeros. To compare, the Soviets spent about $7 billion on spreading communism, from 1921 to 1991, that is $3.15 per second. One hundred billion in thirty years equals 106.00 dollars per second, there are 3,600 seconds in an hour, 24 hours in a day and 365 days in a year – lean back and think. Don’t doubt their determination, don’t believe in the assimilation of Muslim refugees. In September 2015, Saudi Arabia vowed to build another 200 mosques in Germany alone (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, 08 Sept. 2015), and more in other European nations. Plus maintenance and staff. Must be their contribution to the ‘rapefugee problem …”

The Western ‘leaders’ failed to even think about the concept of Hijra and its political ramifications, and not at all about its magnitude. They simply had no understanding of the matter, they do not know that Hijra is migration in the way of Allah (I.e. establishing Sharia, note: in Islam migration is a sin, unless its in the way of Allah) and that Hijrians are properly called Muhajiroun, essentially undercover Mujahideen. So the West was and is being deceived. Most hilarious here is the term “refugee”, an utter riot! And the Morons fall for it, or they are co-conspirators. Additionally, they must have deluded themselves, thinking: “Our culture, they will all love Barbi doll and become football players.” Well, they didn’t. To continue how they were deceived, and are deceiving themselves – and us…

“…Bible.. “The Witnesses of Jesus will be beheaded.” The Muslims favourite way of murdering Christians. A deception? Who pays for the boats, dingies, and buses? Smart phones and prepaid debit cards, magically topped up for the first few months after their arrival. Ever wondered how it is possible for those poor refugees to clutch one and five hundred Euro notes? How they have the money for bars and discos? Deception? Three million refugees in 2½ years, at about $/€ 4,000 per person, that’s 12,000 million Euros or Dollars in total, you read that correctly. Those poor refugees, they probably earned that with paper rounds and saved up. Strange, only a few hours by bus to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, etc. And these refugees pay about 4,000 on average to cross the Mediterranean. Where many drown. Well, mostly Christian and Yaziris do the drowning, being thrown overboard by the Muslim “refugees”. What do you think? Remember, Allah is the best of deceivers, as repeatedly said in the Koran….”

These are some of the jigsaw pieces. Go to the year 2008, the West has been ruined by the major banks. The BBC reported (I believe it was in Panorama) that if one were to use freshly printed bundles of £20.00 notes of the amount required to cover the UK’s foreign debt, those bundles would form a a single column from London to Mars – give it some thought. The US was even more indebted, and everybody else was also ‘moaning’. Except the Greeks, they kept on spending, on credit. The British Prime Minister went to Saudi Arabia and landed a ‘huge’ arms deal, plus a lot of other contracts. The banks were afloat. Same happened with the other nations. They all went to the Arabian peninsular, not just Saudi, and the results were the same, or similar.

Does anyone think that happened without conditions?

Let’s go back again, further still, wonderful Charles DeGaulle, the Liberator (oh brother!) and the succeeding French leaders wanted to distinguish themselves from the US and in particular from the ever rising Germany, after all France was a victorious nation. La Grande Nacion – or is it La Grande Illucion? They did it. The French entered all of a sudden a socialist paradise. High living standards, they surpassed even the Germans and the Swiss for a time, full employment, mostly by the state, early retirement, et cetera est. And mighty France did get away from NATO, well, they lived under its shield anyway.

Marvellous achievemnt. Funny thing, they suddenly turned hostile to Israel, and very, very pro Arab, pro Palestinian, bla bla.

Do you, or anybody else believes that happened without conditions?

So banks and governments are beholden. Then there’s the free press, one of the West most wonderful delusions. Would they report on this? Analyse this? Here’s an imaginary phone call: “If you continue to report in such manner, then we will, in sha Allah, have to cut our subscription of 100,000 to 300,000 copies per day. Oh, and also a good chunk of advertising.” What a silly imagination… The free press would simply say: “Do it! We shall not be moved!” That statement would made by a chief editor, a guy called Peter Pan. Or Pinnochio?

So, what do our wonderful, trustworthy leaders do now? Should they say: “We and many before us cocked up big time. We, and those before us, when lied when we moved our lips, and we don’t have skeletons in the closet. No, but we have graveyards in the garage! And we have no idea of how to cope. But trust us, everything will be wonderful, now vote for us again, you bloody idiots!”

What does ‘our’ free press say? Easy. Every politician and candidate who speaks out for the people is derided (derided?) as a populist – on account of committing the great sin of obeying the wishes of the voters, the electors.

Conversely, every politician and candidate who does as the free press approves, is hailed as a man or woman providing true leadership.

Insert: Can you smell a rodent? Urgent phone call to Hamelin: “So many rats, we can’t breath anymore, send help immediately!”

My opinion, a massive move to the right, not if, but when. It was Lincoln who said: “You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”

Always On Watch, I did *exactly* what you did right after 9/11–as soon as I could tear myself away from cable news coverage of the atrocity. I wanted to see if Muslim terrorists (I’m not sure I knew the word “JIhadist” yet) really did base their violence on the canonical tenets of Islam itself.

I expected to find a few violent passages–what I did not expect was the almost unremitting onslaught of vicious ugliness. Even without understanding abrogation–which only makes things worse–I was *absolutely shocked* by the level of hate and calls to violence I read in the Qur’an. I literally felt physically ill reading it.

I was already fairly familiar with much of the hideous legacy of Islamic conquest from my study of history–especially European Medieval and Renaissance and early American history. But I had not until this point understood just how deeply this history of conquest and oppression was rooted in the Qur’an and the model of the “Prophet”.

Yes, it truly is only willful ignorance.

As I’ve suggested before, the only way that such ignorance will be overcome in America is by forcing a national debate in Congress and the Senate on Islam. President Trump will do that with his proposal to ban moslems until the nation’s lawmakers can figure out what’s going on. And the only way they can do that is to do the unthinkable and actually examine the Islamic texts which serve to provide all the inspiration and instruction that the jihadis get. It’s a can of worms that should have been opened up in the weeks following 9/11 but George the Idiot put a lid on it for his moslem friends and Big Oil cronies with the whole “religion of peace” garbage. Under President Trump there WILL be a discussion and discovery and it will spill over into the entire advanced modern world and resonate STRONGLY in besieged Europe. I am sure of it.

You are dreaming in technicolour. I wish I could believe that but there is no indication whatsoever that Trump “gets” Islam. He is just anti-immigration, and acting the part of a populist. Remember, he didn’t get what the “Draw Muhammad” contest was about. He didn’t have a clue. He thought it would be cool at that time to say ‘why the needless provocation’ – or whatever it was he said that he thought would sound like a populist at that moment. You can’t count on somebody who doesn’t get that, Who doesn’t get that it wasn’t about provoking Muslims, BUT RATHER, IT WAS ABOUT STANDING UP TO THE BULLIES WHO WANT TO TAKE OUR FREE SPEECH AWAY, AND FOR THAT REASON ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. Thank you for this informative posting.
The second paragraph, “There are those who claim that the way out for Muslims is to somehow jettison both the Hadith and the Sira…” Unfortunately, limiting Islamic reading to the Qur’an will not bring peace. There are enough commands in chapters 8 and 9 alone for a Muslim to carry out everything that was part of Islamic history since the seventh century, let alone activity seen in current events involving ISIS. A suggestion: publish those chapters alone, make pamphlets for easy and inexpensive distribution, reading, and understanding. Added comments would be useful.
Another suggestion is for Ayaan Hirsi Ali to have a public discussion with Michelle Obama and other non-Muslim regarding female circumcision and other matters regarding women under Islamic authority. Perhaps that would finally awaken those presently asleep.

The rules of Islam, conveniently arranged by subject, and with a useful index, are contained in “Reliance of the Traveller”. This cites the Koran where needed.

Thank you, Michael Copeland, for the link to ‘Umdat al-Salik. My problem with this catechism of Islam is that it makes assertions about Islamic doctrine without justifying them by a citation of Islamic scripture (Quran + Hadith + Sira). Taking three pages at random (pages 347, 690, 1057), I did not find a single citation of the Quran.
But x171 contains the interesting report that Ibn Mas’ud “loved perfume and when he left home, people could tell where he had passed by the beautiful scent.”

In Book O, turn to 9.8, therein you will find a quote from Surah At-Taubah. But 9.9, codifying Surah Al-Anfal 8.39, has no citation to it.

To understand Reliance, read Bukhari along with the Qur’an.

Reliance is the standard reference for Shari’ah. Even lawyers and government agencies search for it. My blog post on the subject even gets hits from NNIC. The Pentagon made a big blunder when they sacked Coughlin!

The thing i find myself saying most often when trying to convince people of the dangers of Islam is ”don’t take my word for it, certainly don’t take the Muslims’ word for it, read the sources for yourself”.

Of course i know that next to none of them actually will. As the author said, one of the unintentionally fortunate facts about Islam (from a Muslim perspective) is how mind crushingly boring it is. There comes a point, such as when reading Reliance of the Traveler, and you’re learning about the Sharia compliant method for wiping your arse with stones, when you ask yourself ”This is what I’m doing with the one life I get?”

The idea everybody can check what Islam is all about is a good one and I agree with it. However, this is more easily said than done. The time and energy required to get a good picture are far too much for the average voter. Even people who should investigate this themselves and are formally educated on how to get to the truth, even if an adversary tries to prevent this, apparently are in the dark. The FBI, CIA and the police all seem to have no clue about what they are dealing with.

I started my own investigation after the riots in the Schilderswijk in the Hague, 2014, where Muslims showed the black flag of Islam. You can read about it on my website here: http://members.ziggo.nl/iiat/

Many comments to this article attribute the ignorance of the electorate to stupidity, laziness and so forth, but I had a similar experience as in Westward Ho’s comment. I found it very difficult to get a picture of what is going on. The smokescreens, misinformation, character-assassinations, of Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer for instance, and other tactics of the Islamic propaganda machine work and succeed, I am afraid, in maintaining the status quo: a divided electorate.

How do we, who oppose Islam, get the message of what Islam really is, to the majority of the western electorate? I think one tactic can be to make it as easy as possible for the public to check out the Koran themselves. Therefore, I followed up on my initial website with this site: http://members.ziggo.nl/iiat/Koran/.

There are several problems with it, I am contemplating at the moment. One is how to reach the intended audience; it seems most people who take a look already agree Islam is a threat so I am preaching to the choir. Another is I do not get many reactions and do not get a picture of whether visitors agree with my observation the Koran repeats a couple of times over and over and this is a highly significant feature, or maybe they think it is nonsense or maybe they do not understand and I have to explain the concept of brainwashing by conditioning verses by cognitions in greater detail. Therefore, if you take the time to write a short comment on my forum http://members.ziggo.nl/iiat/discussion/ this will very much be appreciated.

I applaud your motive and your effort but fear it will do no more than the daily reporting of Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller, Mr. Fitzgerald, David Horowitz, et. al. The public has not taken an interest since the events of 9/11/01, some 14+ years ago. Why? In my view it is primarily because of at least three irrefutable facts. First it’s the ingrained paradigm inculcated over decades of repetition that Islam is a religion of peace. Two, western civilization is convinced that religious freedom is a fundamental human right and that therefore it is against this fundamental, ingrained principle to take a derogatory view of any religion especially one with over a billion believers. Third Islam is considered a religion and therefore any inference suggesting it is other than peaceful and welcoming requires a deviant attitude not commensurate with cherished western values.

But Islam is not a religion, it is a violent cult built on a theological foundation designed to dictate and control human behavior surrounding every aspect of life, spiritual, cultural and political. That Islam does not tolerate or accept the premise of freedom of religion and conscience, demands complete fealty from Muslims and subjugation or death for infidels, is not in any way recognized or easily accepted by the vast majority of non-Muslims in the west, and, of the utmost importance, from anywhere near a critical mass of those largely responsible for the publics perception on almost everything, from what to wear to what to eat and drink to what to think and how to behave. That would primarily be the entertainment industry, the main stream or legacy print, radio and video media, academia and over the past two decades or so, the internet.

And lets not forget or marginalize the very effective ploy of the Muslim contingent in the west, CAIR, ISNA, MSA, MAS, IIIT, etc. to demonize any and all attempts to expose the true nature of Islam and its hegemonic goals as being caused by the purported “psychotic affliction” of Islamophobia. It never ceases to amaze how Islam and Muslims, perpetrators of the most horrific, barbaric, inhuman and widely reported acts of what can only be described as blatant, purposeful brutality, have become the most protected class around the world by assigning themselves the status of victims of religious persecution.

But, to get back on point, attempting to educate a majority of the electorate is far from a simple matter of exposing them to what we know to be true. They have very successfully been convinced that any such attempt is Islamophobic, to be immediately dismissed, not worthy of even a cursory review, denied of any intellectual consideration whatsoever. Move on. Eyes roll and glaze over, skepticism reeks, negative opinions erupt, the subject effectively declared off limits and the battle is lost before it’s ever begun. In my view the only possible way for this process of exposing Islams true nature to the widest possible swath of the electorate is to begin what will be a long arduous process to find a way to convince those generally considered “the opinion makers.” Search for and inform individuals who are widely respected and have at their disposal a very large megaphone. They must also be fearless. How best to go about this? A very good question that many have been struggling with for a very long time with little success. While there are signs of a growing awareness, there remains a widespread, distorted view of the threat, its nature, its primary advocates and the inability to date, at least as far as can be determined, of the west to accurately identify, define and develop an effective strategy to defeat or at least contain and confine Islamism to its focal point in the Middle East.

    Apologies to all,

although this is a bit off-topic, I trust you will excuse this when you realize what it is I am trying to do:

    ALL UK RESIDENTS PLEASE:

A petition has been launched to: “Sharia Law and the use of Sharia courts within the UK should be prohibited” So far less than 20,000 signatures have been attracted. 100,000 are required to discuss the matter in The House of Commons. The deadline is 11 March 2016, that means we have a bit more than a month left.

I trust, and hope, that all UK resident participants in/on this forum are keen to sign, the link:

    https://petition.parliament.uk

Get this link to as many sympathetic people as possible. (Email friends, have the link on a sheet of paper, and if opportunity arises, say in a pub, pass it on). If we can stop, or at least curtail Sharia, we will be able to do a lot more. Further, we can then, hopefully, prime some of the media with quotes from the Quran and Hadith, plus Sira and point out how they fit together. If not a golden, it certainly seems to be a silver (Stirling :-)) opportunity.

Note this well: With 100,000 signatures it will be discussed on the floor of Parliament, in a proper session, in public. To hammer this point home: We’d be the first Western country in which the elected representatives have to discuss Sharia publicly in the National Assembly. (Though, ‘they’ and their voluntary Dhimmies may still find a way to high-jack or derail the discussion, they’ll certainly try. Think George Galloway…)

That also means copy this to other forums were English speakers, and thus some Brits, participate.

Again, my apologies to all for this intrusion, I trust you will bear it with sympathy.

    Kind regards to All &

Islam is not a hieratic mystery, which only the initiated, a special priesthood, can possibly understand.

Ironically, that’s the idea muslims in the West like to hide behind when placed on the spot. “You must read the quran in the original arabic form to learn just how wonderful it is, not trust the distorted version the Western media spoon-fed you.”

Speaking of which, here’s a dramatic reenactment of the origins of the quran:

Indeed, there are three reasons for this, so I noticed or believe. One is fear of the subject matter. Tyrants and their supporters know that, and make use of it. Stifles discussion, avoid’s oppostion.

The other one is plain lazyness. “…Ah, that’s too much to bother about, look, I am busy with…”

The third one: “It can’t happen to me.”

I too am thinking of finding ways through this. We have to get out into the real world, I’m not decrying us keyboard warriors :-). But we have to get the real world.

At the risk of pissing off a lot of people, I will state the real reason: inability to discriminate between the Holocaust and exterminating vampires.

Hitler’s victims were innocent. Vampires attack people, drink their blood and turn them into vampires. Where are Dr. Van Helsing and Buffy the Vampire Slayer when you need them?

But Vlad the Impaler did not khazouk vampires, his victims were Ottoman tax collectors and enforcers. If people could acknowledge the evil nature of Islamic doctrine & practice, they would be compelled to demand its extinction. But “Never Again!!”, not realizing that it applies to innocent people, not predators. Too many are blind to the fact that Islam is a system of intra species predation.

Yes indeed, “There should be no mystery about Islam.” To Muslim and non-Muslim alike. And yet here we are, excessive numbers of people all over the globe, in high and low places and positions, whether they can not or will not, still do not see.

Perhaps another approach is needed. And I say “perhaps” because I am very doubtful that all would ever be convinced, no matter what is said and done, no matter how it is expressed, no matter how often, and no matter by whom. And yet, even though having said that, I still believe we must continue to try.

Personally I’d like there to be produced a professionally done and historically accurate movie, and/or mini-series, on the life and times of Muhammad. No holds barred, nothing added nothing omitted. However even “if” such were made, its distribution and showing might be a real challenge, and nightmare. All involved might have to go into hiding. Of course in this age with the advancement in computer generated “human-like” animation, some of this could be mitigated. But what of the rest.

I kept hoping Obama might meet with Ayaan Hirsi Ali, whose personal testimony as to Islam, delivered with such relentless indignation, just might, I dreamed, have some effect on Obama…”

They believe themselves to be too busy – they have more important things to attend to. And after all, isn’t it the job of their advisers, of prominent journalists and various other opinion leaders, to provide them with succinct accounts of ‘the nature of Islam’?

In the 1930’s Mien Kampf was both one of the biggest selling books and one of the least read. But why would you have been motivated to read it when it was so long, repetitive and poorly written? And then there was the convenience that many authoritative people would let you know that it was a book for the times that was worthy of respect and deference.

Many people simply don’t read. I really do not think many Christians have ever read all the 4 gospels. It is boring and most of all useless, because it always the same old story (at least for born and raised people under the same religion). Instead, for a non believer, the efforts to read so many pages on a religious books, are not worth at all. Some western leaders pretend that Islam is the religion of peace. Why bother to them, to read the quran or compare it to the 4 gospels? For them who says otherwise, who think Islam is the a death spreading ideology, is a fool. So they do not need to read anything about it. They keep saying the bible is the same, but they did not read any of the 2 most probably.

There is an intellectual sickness in our culture that predates our relatively recent exposure to Muslims, and exists independent of Islam. It is a kind intellectual and moral corruption, and I think the two are integral and compliment each other. The term “politically correct,” is just a dishonest way of saying dishonest. In popular culture this has become a virtue. Islam, among many other deleterious ideas, is able to take advantage of this horrible aspect of our culture and so it is our fault that he have laid ourselves vulnerable.

Why would one want to be dishonest when speaking about an idea or ideology that convinces parents it would be an honorable thing to kill their offspring over a natural aspect of becoming mature? Discussing the subject should have the objective of abolishing the practice. Who could possibly be “offended” by an honest discussion on the ideological (read Islamic) roots behind the motives to kill one’s children? ONLY those who want to protect the practice and the ideology that inspires it. Now what is the moral character of someone who worries about hurting the feelings of such people? Yet we see daily the spectacle of apologists for Islam waging a war against reality with intellectual impunity.

Hugh Fitzgerald: Islam Is Not A Mystery
    ……………………….

No, it’s *not* a mystery. The Qur’an in good–and multiple–translations for comparison are easily accessible. And they are quite clear–learning about abrogation and reading the Hadith and Sira deepened my understanding of Islam, but did not change it from my first impressions in any fundamental way.

Anyone with access to a moderately sized library, a paperback bookstore, or Amazon who has a reasonable level of intelligence can easily learn about Islam.

And then studying the history of Islam, even in rough outline–assuming only it is not some modern dhimmi whitewash–and just reading any medium-size newspaper or watching cable news easily shows the grim fruits of this vicious ideology.

It is only if someone is in a state of willful denial about the viciousness of Islam that they can still be deceived.

The idea that one must be a scholar of Islam, an Imam, and read the Qur’an in the original Classical Arabic is utter bs.

This claim is not made for any other religious text. One need not be a Christian scholar with a degree in Theology, a background in Greek and Hebrew, and a text in the original Aramaic in order to read and broadly understand the Bible.
