Iran: Boat seizure “should be a lesson to troublemakers in the U.S. Congress”

Jan 13, 2016 5:29 pm By Robert Spencer

The troublemakers in the U.S. Congress need to learn to bow to their new masters. Obama has. What’s keeping them?

Firouzabadi: The sneer of cold command

“Iran says seizure of U.S. boats a lesson to ‘troublemakers’ in Congress,” Reuters, January 13, 2016:

DUBAI (Reuters) – Iran’s army chief said on Wednesday the seizure of two U.S. navy boats and their 10 sailors should be a lesson to members the U.S. Congress trying to impose new sanctions on Tehran.

“This incident in the Persian Gulf, which probably will not be the American forces’ last mistake in the region, should be a lesson to troublemakers in the U.S. Congress,” Major General Hassan Firouzabadi, head of Iran’s armed forces, was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency.

    Yup–more Muslim “resistance is futile”.

And why not? Obama has bowed to their every demand–Muslims cannot understand why everyone else here has not followed suit.

Tending to prove, wildjew, what I have noted here at JW several times, that being that the Democratic Party has lost its collective mind and the Republican Party has lost its collective guts. Paul Ryan’s pathetic denunciation of Trump’s call for a temporary ban on further Muslim immigration is just another example of how woeful, practically cowardly, the leadership of the Republican Party has become——–AND the Republican Party is easily the better party of the two main political parties in the US on virtually all matters, certainly in the realms of defense and foreign policy.

Not lookin’ good and tending to prove yet again that civilizations are far more vulnerable from threats within than from threats without. I have gone from amazed to numbness respecting the continued exculpation of Islam by most every political elite in America. Shame on these jokers forever.

Wellington, Dear – I am so disappointed in Haley’s blowing the opportunity – no, really, it’s the RESPONSIBILITY – that she had to counter Obama’s claims in his state of the nation speech for what positive changes his admin has brought to the USA. And I say again, welcome to post-Constitutional America.

I find Haley’s speech repugnant, no matter how “well-written and well-delivered” it was. Thank you, Charles Krauthammer. Unhappily, Haley has all the earmarks, even to being female, of a leading future light in the GOP. I never want to hear another word from this cynical, craven sleaze, but it’s all too easy to see her becoming the darling of the repub establishment. She represents the worst of the worst to me.

        Cheers!

I don’t get it, there’s two boats and one breaks down, duh … you throw a rope and tow the other to your destination, ok slowly, but you get the drift, (no pun intended)

The Americans MUST have seen the situ on radar, on radio, & monitored GPS etc…
They must know where the international waters line is,
They must have been able to get some jets out there to indicate to the Iranian fizz boats that it’s not a good idea, to bully our guys ..
What happened to the most kick ass fighting fleet in the world ,,,, you can’t say were too far over the horizon ….

Personally, I think this is just smoke and mirrors AGAIN, intended to make the Iranians to puff their chests out and say look how tough we are, those Americans had better not mess with us ..

“What happened to the most kick ass fighting fleet in the world?” … Oh, this marshmallification of our military resolve started LONG AGO! Remember how Bill Clinton did nothing but plaintively beg the Chinese to give us our military jet back after they clipped it and forced it to land on Chinese territory? They “gave it back” only after totally cannibalizing it for months and extracting all our latest technology secrets from it.

      • Auralae says

        Jan 14, 2016 at 2:46 am

Ah, I think you’re misremembering that, it was President Bush 43 who’s administration negotiated that mess. All in all, they did a fairly good job–but the crew was stuck there for well over a week. Here, I’ll look up the wiki and leave a link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hainan_Island_incident

….In addition to paying for the dismantling and shipping of the EP-3, the United States paid for the 11 days of food and lodging supplied by the Chinese government to the aircraft’s crew, in the amount of $34,000. The Chinese had demanded one million dollars compensation from the U.S. for the lost J-8 and their pilot, but this was declined and no further negotiations were held. Republican congressman Tom DeLay described the episode as “communist piracy” and Chinese demands for compensation as “the deluded daydreams of a despotic regime”.[35][36]

The incident took place ten weeks after the inauguration of George W. Bush as president and was his first foreign policy crisis. Both sides were criticized following the event; the Chinese for making a bluff which was called without any real concessions from the American side other than the “Letter of the two sorries”, and the Americans first for being insensitive immediately after the event and later for issuing the letter rather than taking a harder line.[37]

Following the collision, China’s monitoring of reconnaissance flights became less aggressive.[38] As of 2011, flights of US surveillance aircraft near the Chinese coastline continued as before the incident.[39][40]

This is what I believe happened:

      1. Our ship was not in their waters
      2. Our ship was approached by the Muslim pirates and our Marine Captain called it in and was told not to defend them selves unless fired upon
      3. Muslim pirates came along side and threatened our Sailors
      4. Muslims demanded we let them on board
      5. Marine Captain called it in and was told to allow the Muslim pirates to board
      6. Both boats and crew were captured
      7. We will never know the truth

I say – wait until they complete the final steps of shutting down their reactors, then bomb the shiite out of them. Use that $100 billion that was to be turned over to them to pay for the bombing campaign and the laser guided precision bombs to take out all their leaders, the Imams, Mullahs, the Ayatollah, and the Revolutionary Guard. Whatever money is left over should go to rehabilitating the people. It would be the nobler thing to do. We have no obligation whatsoever to keep our part of the bargain, and the Iranian leaders won’t hesitate to screw us over on the first opportunity – like when they turn around and buy off the shelf nuclear weapons from North Korea.

Have you heard that Pakistan has just threatened to “wipe Iran off the map” if they threaten Saudi Arabia with nuclear weapons?

This is the 1,001st time that a government has threatened to wipe another country off the map — the first 1,000 being Iran threatening Israel, natch.

Too funny. If they didn’t have the infidel as a common enemy, the world’s Muslims would have slaughtered each other already.

That said, strategy should drive feelings, feelings should not drive strategy.
