“We don’t know if he had the intention of causing harm.” But we have a pretty fair idea.
“BREAKING NEWS: Disneyland Paris on ALERT as man brandishing two handguns arrested,’ by Alix Culbertson, Express, January 28, 2016:
French police confirmed they have arrested a man after he was found carrying two 7.65 calibre firearms – also known as automatic colt pistols – hidden in a bag.
He was allegedly also carrying a copy of the Koran and a pack of cartridges in the bag, local media said.
The 28-year-old, who lives in Paris, was arrested as his bag was scanned by security when he entered the Hotel New York next to the Disney village opposite the park in the Seine-et-Marne area to reserve a room.
His bag immediately set off an alarm on the scanner which had been put in place as the capital remains on high terror alert following the slaughter of 130 people during an attack by Islamic State jihadists in November.
He did not resist arrest.
The man, who was only known to the authorities for driving without a licence, has been placed in custody while police search for his companion said to be a woman.
The mayor of Seine-et-Marne, said: “I highlight that the Disney security services and the order forces immediately reacted so this person was locked up.
“We don’t know if he had the intention of causing harm.”…

.32 acp is not known for being an effective killer, but he still could have created a panic and got a lot of people hurt.
jihad3tracker says
True, Rev g — the ballistics for that round are rather meager — but fired into the bodies of children (between ages three and twelve) certain to be visiting Disneyland, probably devastating or even fatal.
By the way, this is likely to give Muzzies in America and elsewhere with theme parks an implied suggestion for copycat behavior — but now they have been alerted that more care must be used to get through security, or even start shooting outside the perimeter.
jihad3tracker says
That Qur’an he was carrying might have had some post-it notes attached to “motivational” verses in Sura Nine (Taubah). The superb counter-jihad folks at this website explain what I am talking about:

While you are there, also read “The Terrifying Brilliance of Islam” —- rather lengthy, but it is an excellent analysis of Muhammad’s understanding of human nature and weakness.
There is much more content worth reading at Citizenwarrior, too.

It can still kill. I have read stories of people killed with .22 rounds. Hit the right spots and any bullet will kill. FYI, Hitler is believed to have killed himself with a .32 ACP round.

We used to do our own butchering on the ranch, and a .22 is the only weapon needed to drop a ton of beef.

El Cid says
I guess it has been pointed out here that the correct terminology is 7.65mm NOT caliper which is am imperial measurement based on lead balls per imperial pound I believe.
The key point here is that a terrorist is able to get handguns in Europe and carry. That is, of course, the norm sought by President Obama in the USA.
Remember the girl who is under arrest for using pepper spray in Denmark?
Rev g says
Caliber is the approximate diameter of the projectile, in inches, hence the decimal point . I say approximate because caliber labeling is not exact, for example a .38 Special is actually a .357 inch projectile. In that situation, an old convention of case size was used.
Gauge is the system you are thinking of, as in 12 gauge shotgun.
Tom says
Rev g..would you want to be shot with a 32 acp? Of course not, it is what Adolf Hitler used to commit suicide. It is more accurately referred to as the 7.65 mm Browning and is very popular in Europe. It is easy to carry as it it very compact, accurate at close range and due to low recoil easy to regain target acquisition.
The cartridge typically propels a bullet 1,000 feet per second and produces approx. 175 foot pounds of energy. It can easily penetrate a human skull at 30 feet and produce fatal results.
A few well placed shots center mass would more likely than not have killed the recipient at 30 feet, the average distance a perp likes to use for a close encounter assassination.
Rev g says
Here in the US the round is known as the .32 acp and is anemic in comparison to most other pistol calibers. I would carry a .22 with stingers before I would carry a .32. The .32 H&R Magnum or .327 Federal Magnum, those are different animals entirely. I would even avoid the .380, which is why my wife has a compact 9mm instead.
Any gun can kill with a well-placed shot, so asking if I would like to be shot with one is rather juvenile. How adept are you at hitting moving humans in their kill zone with any handgun, let alone a pocket .32 with rudimentary sights, a short sight radius, and a short barrel length? Winging someone with a .32acp is not the same as winging someone with a .45 acp or a .357 Magnum.
Children are even harder to hit, they are much smaller in size. My point was simply that this attacker was more interested in wreaking havoc than actual body count. Not even high capacity magazines. Terror is about the minds of the survivors anyways, so those guns would suffice.
Tom says
I notice you are very quick to attack me and others in these posts as being juvenile. My problem with your initial statement “.32 acp is not known for being an effective killer, but he still could have created a panic and got a lot of people hurt” can be very misleading to those not as familiar with weapons and ballistics. You have minimized the inherent danger of being shot with a .32 ACP by your statement.
I have heard many people say” its just a .22, how much damage could that cause”? You now have the Brady Bill thanks to John Hinckley and a six shot revolver using.22 ammunition. Granted, no one died as a result, but it caused tremendous damage to Brady and almost killed President Reagan.
As to some of us not knowing much about ballistics, I have carried a weapon for a little over 40 years, and having fired nearly every caliber of ammunition available today, I know a little about that to which I speak!
My point is this: please be careful making statements like the one above; those less familiar with weapons will get the wrong idea.
To all: Remember, there is nothing so deadly as an empty weapon. Explanation: many a person assumed a weapon was empty and found out the hard way it was loaded, usually with a fatal outcome.
Rev g says
The .32 is an anemic round, there is nothing to argue. This is a known fact. People can be killed with unsharpened pencils, that doesn’t make them effective weapons.
People here are fond of trivializing the intelligence of jihadis and muslims in general, that can be a fatal mistake. They obviously are smart enough to manipulate our governments and legal systems, and are capable of flying airliners into buildings and creating some very unique and powerful weapons.
Granted, not all jihad is are intelligent. My point being a well planned operation would not rely on such meager firepower.
You must have a very thin skin if you take being presented with facts as an attack.

This evening panic at Disneyland in Paris. Earlier on today schools were evacuated in Paris, London and Birmingham because of bomb threats. Whether the threat was a hoax or real, the evacuation of schools was real and the panic in Paris was real, which is why the terrorists are winning. Their objective is to instil fear in the society by actual killing or this kind of threat. With fear comes disruption of work and normal life leading to poor economy.
I can see catastrophe coming. All could have been sorted easily and cheaply years ago if we dealt with terrorism by identifying it clearly and naming the religion and people behind it and facing it head on.
dumbledoresarmy says
We have had schools in both Melbourne and Sydney evacuated, this month, just after the start of the school year in Australia, because of “threats”. One lot of threats was afterward reported to have been found to be a “hoax”.
Our media didn’t go into detail as to what these ‘threats’ were, precisely, or whether there was any hint as to the *source* of the actual or pretended threat. So I don’t know whether the threats were thought to have a Mohammedan origin, or not.
But the thing is… a hoax can cause just as much fear and disruption – and trouble and expense – as a *real* threat.
And it’s curious that we should have threats (real or ‘hoax’) to schools in *our* two biggest cities, at the same time as there have been threats to schools in Paris, London, Birmingham, and also in the USA.

Panic at Disneyland Paris: Muslim with two handguns and copy of the Qur’an arrested
“We don’t know if he had the intention of causing harm.”…
………………………….
Uh…right…because well-meaning people *always* go to Disneyland heavily armed and in possession of the murder-manual Qur’an…
The fact is that Jihadists have targeted Disneyland before.
And why not? As a target of violent Jihad, Disneyland has it all: it is patronized by Infidel families and children, is a source of innocent fun, and uses the slogan, “The Happiest Place On Earth”–why *wouldn’t* nihilistic Muslim terrorists want to create fear, death, and destruction there?
God, I hate Islam.
rev g says
Since you mention it, I do know people who travel regularly with handguns and their holy book whenever it is legal to do so.
The manner of carry, and willingness to declare the firearms presence when necessary make a difference.
gravenimage says
Sure–and I am actually a big defender of the Second Amendment.
I have also read the Qur’an myself–and have carried the books home from bookstores in tote bags.
But do you *really* believe that someone is going to Disneyland–in France, mind you, where the American Second Amendment does not apply and “concealed carry” is not legal–and just *happens* to be armed with two guns, extra ammunition, and a copy of the murderous Qur’an?
That rather strains credulity, I must say.
Weapons and the Muslim “holy book” go together–you can find thousands of pictures of Jihadists clutching a gun in one hand and the Qur’an in the other.

Rev g says
I did include a qualifier, and am aware that Paris is worse than Kalifornia regarding gun rights. My Koran don’t typically travel with me, overtly anyways.
gravenimage says
Rev G, I don’t believe authorities at Disneyland Paris were just concerned because of strict gun laws in France. Nor do I just believe this would only have happened in “Kalifornia”, either.
Florida–home of Disney World–is a bastion of both Second Amendment rights and strong traditional religion.
And yet–do you *really* think that would mean that they would welcome a heavily-armed Mohammedan to bring his weapons and Qur’an into the park filled with vulnerable kids and families?
I sure as hell don’t think so. In fact, I know so–here’s Disney World’s policy regarding firearms:
“If a resort guest brings one on property, it must be locked up in the safe deposit boxes at the front desk, not in a room safe. If guests visiting our theme parks bring in firearms, it must either be left in their vehicle, or checked in with security when entering the park. Only on-duty law enforcement officers whose agency has jurisdiction at the Walt Disney World Resort may carry any weapon.”
I don’t know where you got the idea that bringing loaded weapons into Disney parks was only a problem in places that are trying to take away heavily-armed Muslims’ right to bear arms.
Rev g says
Since this guy was checking in, how do you know what would have happened in Disney World Florida?
He could easily ask them to lock them up for him. Devil’s advocate: Some arab-American bringing legally owned weapons to his hotel in DW Fla gets this treatment, he will be a richer man.

Once of the characteristics of being Muslim is letting Allah be your intelligence. Basically there are so many times when the West has been saved by their blatant stupidity e.g.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3420357/Australian-accused-planning-pack-kangaroo-bomb.html
When you have the truth in the Koran and Allah onside, there is no real need to plan or think too deeply. As anyone who has seemingly intelligent Muslim friends will tell you. Every now and then they come out with the most outrageous ‘fact’.
This is their Achilles heel that could be exploited by the West – but, of course, isn’t.
David M says
On the radio here in Australia they said he claimed to have the guns for self defence.
I believe everything this Muslim says, Mickey Mouse could well have come at him with a cleaver, or Bugs Bunny could have lunged at him with a knife. Quite plausible.
The fact his female companion ran off when the guns were discovered is a complete coincidence too!

Ashley says
I saw the same self-defense claim on the BBC, Angemon…you know: “I always tote my boys wherever I go.”
Problem is that the dude didn’t check the weapons in advance of the hotel search/scan. And toting the Qur’an doesn’t sit well with this cowgirl.

Guns aside — seeing a muslim carrying the unholy quran might cause a panic. Afterall, that evil book IS a nothing more than a manual-4-murder.
Good thing this evil perp was arrested.
Rufolino says
Indeed this man could have been about to commit murder. But the reporting of this incident leaves something to be desired.
“Panic” at Disneyland ?? (Who exactly was “panicking” ? The incident was apparently calmly dealt with, and the man didn’t resist arrest)
The man was “brandishing two guns” ?? (No, he was not, the guns were not in his hands, but in his bag.)
Much of the evidence indeed appears damning, and the man could have intended murder, but at least in England, a suspect is innocent until proven guilty.
David Pimentel says
@Rufolino … Exactly! I am no fan of anything in the Quran, but for crying out loud people must stop the inflammatory headlines and incorrect word usage! Such poor communication is akin to Chicken Little crying that the sky is falling.

Interesting story. It’s a little surprising he gave up like a lamb. I wonder if he was a bagman delivering the weapons to some other party who was going to do the attack. I agree the smallness of the calibre would not have been a hindrance, after all, small calibre weapons are a favourite of assassins and spies. Wasn’t Lincoln killed by a small pistol?

I’ve seen the BBC on-line statement, but there seems to be a complete news blackout on TV, even F24 (the French news channel) isn’t carrying it this morning.
The BBC news team seem extremely sheepish and I wonder if there has been a severe reprimand for whoever linked guns and koran last night, when the story first broke!
How can a story be breaking news one day, and invisible the next?
Neil Ross says
A bit like the guy on the Brussels to Paris express with an ak47. Just a misunderstanding over a weapon he found in a trash can. You can’t prove intent to cause harm until they celebrate the release of the martyrdom video. This is why you now need somewhere like Gitmo. The would be jihadists will get 12 months at most for illegal possession. It’s just a minor administrative oversight on their part until they actually commit mass murder. Legal system cannot handle this.
Heather says
If you take religion/cult out of the equation and see these scum as just garden variety scum, they are mass murderers. How this foul smelling, vile belief was ever able to flourish is beyond me. IMO anyone who follows the most vile, evil, rotten to the core piece of trash is just as bad as it. They have either not read that filthy book of are so stupid they’ll believe anything. Every koran in the world should be burned and the ashes buried with pig poo. I know this all sounds sinful but I detest them so much and am so angry. They are not human and my heart breaks for all the people murdered like those people in Brussels today. These trash of the earth must be stopped. Wake up Politicians. Wake the hell up. These scum are not human as we know it.
