Jihad Watch

Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Philadelphia cop shooter was “frequent member” of local mosque

Jan 11, 2016 8:42 am By Robert Spencer

Initially, the imam said he didn’t know the jihad shooter Abdul Shaheed (Edward Archer), who said that he shot officer Jesse Hartnett for Allah, because Abdul Shaheed pledged allegiance to the Islamic State. Now it appears that enough facts are known about the shooter’s relationship to the mosque that he is having to backtrack. This mosque should be investigated, but it almost certainly won’t be. Yet questions persist: where did Abdul Shaheed get the idea that he should pledge allegiance to the Islamic State? Will that question be glibly waved away with the claim that he was “radicalized on the Internet”? If it is assumed that Masjid Mujahideen (!) teaches peace, why did Abdul Shaheed misunderstand or disregard those peaceful teachings? If those peaceful teachings are true Islam, why did Abdul Shaheed discard them for what we’re always told is a false version of the religion?

Asim Abdur-Rashid and Tariq Salaam

“Imam knew police shooter, but by Muslim name,” by Michael Matza, Philly.com, January 11, 2016 (thanks to Steve):

Asim Abdur Rashid, imam of Masjid Mujahideen on south 60th Street in West Philadelphia, said he was stunned Friday when his son called and said that someone near the mosque shot a police officer in the name of Islam.

“I said, ‘What?’ ” Rashid recalled Sunday.

Friday afternoon, Rashid denounced the shooting and said he did not know the gunman, whom police identified as Edward Archer, 30, of Philadelphia and Yeadon.

A few hours later, members of the masjid set Rashid straight by citing Archer’s Muslim name.

“We called him Abdul Shaheed . . . Abdul means ‘servant,’ and Shaheed means ‘the witness,’ ” Rashid said. “He was a frequent member of the masjid. But I did not know him as Archer. And I did not recognize his picture. We don’t call each other by the names we had before we converted to Islam.”

In an interview Sunday, Rashid went on to explain Archer’s role at the mosque:

“He was no companion of mine. He attended certain affairs that we had. He organized touch football teams in the community. That was the extent of it.”

Typically, for the most important prayer of the week, said Rashid, Masjid Mujahideen gets 150 to 200 worshipers.

That is not a huge group. It is unlikely that the imam wouldn’t know someone who attended frequently and even organized touch football games there.

…The investigation took on added urgency Saturday after a tipster told police that Archer is associated with three men who may share his “radical” beliefs and constitute a continuing threat to police.

“The mosque is a public place. People come and go. Whoever he hung with of his age group I wouldn’t know,” said Rashid.

“He was one of the younger guys,” said Rashid, who is 64. “I don’t allow foolish talk around the mosque. Whatever his opinions were, it was not something that permeated around the mosque.”

Rashid said he told investigators all he knows: That Archer made the hajj pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, and at some point went to Egypt to study Arabic.

“He stayed there six months to a year, with his wife, and came back,” said Rashid. He said the wife, whom he did not identify, is not a member of Masjid Mujahideen.

Does the imam care that the tipster, whose name investigators are withholding, said the imam “was lying” when he said [Archer] had no association” with his mosque?

“I care,” said Rashid, “But people who listened to what I said know I was being as accurate as I could possibly be.”

Thanks to Divine providence, this Muslim’s incredibly lousy shooting skills, and the astonishing resilience of office Hartnett, we have a rare gift :

A CAPTIVE LIVE WORSHIPPER OF ALLAH, WHO WILL BE PUT ON TRIAL IN WHAT SHOULD BE A REALLY INTERESTING PROCESS OF DISCOVERY ABOUT WHAT THAT “GOD” REALLY COMMANDS REGARDING NON-BELIEVERS.

If you read this website’s article about flunky Democrat mayor Jim Kelly — the “has nothing to do with Islam” guy — you will learn that the attempted slaughter came during his FIRST WEEK IN OFFICE.

So, it all depends on the choice of prosecutor and whether he can take the heat from the state and federal government.

Yes, Islam should be on trial, and the Imam should be accused on conspiracy. Bet you that will never happen.

Hello el cid — My emphasis was not on the conviction and prison time this sleaze bucket will get, but, rather, the trial’s daily media coverage. I see again & again, reading comment sections of articles in multicultural leftist newspapers like the Washington Post, THAT WORKIN’ JANE AND JOE CITIZENS “GET IT” ABOUT ISLAM.

Authors of those weepy “This confused guy just got angry at white privilege!” get slapped upside their cognitively dissonant journalism-major heads by blue-collar citizens who would love to have five minutes in a locked room with them, to straighten out a big misconception.

What a flipping outrage to have a a mosque called “Jihadist Mosque”, a guy attending calling himself Such-and-Such Martyr, and an imam with a room temperature IQ speaking down to all of us after an act of SHEER TREASON.

Why not just have a “Nazi Den” where everyone walks around in uniform saying they don’t know each other, but all occasionally get in time machines and go on pilgrimage to 1939 Berlin for spiritual reasons?

Perhaps this shooting was about as “random” as those in Hyper Cacher in Paris. This liberal apologist attitude is very directly and demonstrably emboldening enemies. The government should have that orange-bearded freak shitting his pants, but instead he sits home every night stuffing his face and dying his beard without the slightest hint of worry. This isn’t good enough.

Abdul doesn’t mean “servant” but “slave of Allah” as in “SLAVE”, and that’s how Allah refers to his followers throughout the Koran.

Odd how so many people aspire to be a slave but particularly so in the case of Blacks whose ancestors came to the West as slaves and who only escaped slavery 150 years ago. Is there a nostalgic yearning for those good old ante-bellum days sort of thing going on?

You have to understand the Black Muslim mindset. They are mostly poor, high school dropouts, see no hope for the future, many collect Government assistance, and have low self esteem. Their role models are rappers and athletes, neither of which presents an accurate depiction of the world.

These folks are ripe for the plucking. It is easy to dissuade a mindless person into any group or theology with a united front, hope for a better future, and discipline. The Islamist religion prevents individual thought, which is perfect for the Black so disenfranchised.

I attended two years of college in Philadelphia, so I had DIRECT contact with a lot of Muslims. Well dressed in black suits, white shirt, red bow tie and meaner than a junk yard dog. Told us/me that they hated white people, called us white devils and that we must die.

        Thanks for the insight Tom.

Two points, firstly, from your description the people at your college sound like Nation of Islam…a particularly nasty mix of Islam and racism I believe.
Secondly, why do you use the word “disenfranchised”? As I understand it, it means to be deprived of your vote or rights as a citizen.

        @ Tom

I knew a superficially “nice” even “lovely” or “sweetheart” Muslim whom, once I duped into believing I was sympathetic, or at least receptive, to their world view used the term “white devil” very casually within minutes. I was in some ways shocked, and still am a bit, yet it confirmed what I’d hoped wasn’t true. “Shockingly”, to use the politically correct verbiage, she reminded me very strongly of a certain First Lady who made a beeline for Tower Hamlets to cheer them on and good on Britain upon getting into the Lair.

      …………………………..

Yes, ECAW–and “Shaheed” does not mean “witness”, but Muslim “Martyr”–i.e., one who dies while waging violent Jihad.

And you are quite right–“Abdul Shaheed” was *not* “disenfranchised” at all–perhaps they meant “disadvantaged”.

I grew up on welfare, in a violent home, and ran away and wound up on the street at 15. This didn’t lead me to join a violent cult–just to work harder and make something of my life.

Besides, it has often been shown that poverty does not create Jihad.

Finally, I would not assume that Edward Archer–Abdul Shaheed–was “disadvantaged” or poverty stricken at all. He went on the Hadj in 2011, and traveled to Egypt in 2012.

And Philadephia suburb Yeadon, while heavily African-American, has a poverty rate of just 4.6%–compared to 11% for the whole state. It appears to be solidly middle class.

While a lot of this has been extremely difficult, it has also made me stronger.

It has also taught me that if you work hard it *is* possible to overcome both a bad beginning and to embrace a higher morality than what you were brought up with.

I believe it has also led me to recognize the evil of Islam earlier than I might have otherwise–having myself experienced moral bankruptcy–albeit of a less absolute variety.

It has also meant that I don’t take good for granted–I know it is not some sort of automatic human default, but is something that must be fought for and defended when it is under threat.

And what does “Masjid Mujahideen” actually mean in Arabic?

The mosque of the Islamic peace activists?

        Well, not exactly/

It means the mosque of the Islamic Jihadi Wariours.

They come in pi$$. Your US pi$$.

Each such mosque advocates, preaches for, incites and recruits for
the advancement of the genocidal Islamic agenda against all
        non-Muslim mankind.

Mind you, some of them are “liberal minded” enough to advocate
against sects and strains of Islam slightly different in views and
        practices from themselves.

Close them all and demolish them all and deport all who gained
US residence or citizenship through “Taqqiya” – more correctly
        Islamic fraud.

All the rest, including US born should be charged with and
prosecuted for treason, alternatively conspiracy to commit
genocide and or crimes against humanity.

This is their secret recipe. I know this for a fact when I tried having a conversation with a local imam, it was clear within 15 minutes that he sowed division between blacks and whites. He went off talking about poor blacks in Africa and how good americans have it.

I don’t know what the heck poor in Africa has to do with your average person in the hood, carrying their cell phone, nothing but the best clothes, sneakers and hat. But they have seeped their poison into this crack in American society. That’s why it’s so important to embrace the black community at every level.

    2) Apparently, this shooter could not hit the broadside of a barn [indicates lack of training]

    3) I hope Officer Hartnett makes a speedy recovery and brings civil suit against the local Imam, Mosque and Islam

    4) At a minimum, every home owner or renter should have a shotgun with 10 boxes of ammunition. Also a rifle and a handgun w/ammo, all locked up in a gun safe.

    5) We are going to war with Islam and you better be prepared.

    6) Be on the lookout for Muslim women wearing head scarfs. Good identifier for Muslims in your area.

“Apparently, this shooter could not hit the broadside of a barn [indicates lack of training]”

He was probably just nervous. After all – this was his big moment, the moment he had been dreaming of these past many month, the moment he would redeem himself in one fell swoop. Then he would show them all that he was worthy of the mantle, that he was a true and worthy slave for Allah. Better yet even if he became a martyr for Allah. He got a hard on every time he contemplated the reward that awaited him should he become a martyr – 72 virgins!

He was ready for it, but his hands trembled and the gun felt heavy. He told himself before the move – take deep breaths. Told himself he was a lion. When he pounced, his aim would be true. His heart was pounding. He sprang – ran straight toward the target while firing off rapid shots. Hands still shaking, but he knew it wasn’t cowardice. It was excitement, he told himself! Again and again he squeezed the trigger, while peering anxiously at the target, the cop who enforced laws that were against the will of Allah.

Why didn’t he go down? He ran closer, to put a final bullet right between his eyes. He was so breathless when he tried to scream “Allahu Akbar”, the words didn’t leave his lips. He raised his arm to deliver the final blow, and with a deep horror, heard the click on an empty chamber.

Run! Run! He spun around on his heels and ran as fast as he could. Behind him he heard the cop opening his car door and scream at him to get on the ground. No time to think now. Heart pounding. Breaths in great gasps. Suddenly, a sting in his thigh, and the kick of a bullet knocking him down to the pavement. He lay there stunned, all out of breath, then suddenly they were on top of him. It was all over. He had failed.

He could put up no fight as they carted him off to the precinct like a common criminal. That thought finally made him square his shoulders. He may have failed, but at least he tried! He was no common criminal! He was a soldier for Allah! He felt his pride surge through him. When they asked him why, he was ready with the answer. “I did it for Allah, peace be upon him”!

As the door to his cell slid closed with a thud, he felt at peace with himself for the first time in – forever. He would be famous! Surely the Brothers would help him, smuggle small comforts into his cell, maybe even spring him from his cell eventually. They would take care of his woman. They had promised him that, and he believed them from the bottom of his heart. As he turned to face Mecca to begin his evening prayers, he had never felt so close to Allah. He was a true warrior now, and he was certain Allah would be well pleased. He promised Allah he would take out one his jailers when he got a chance, then lay down, exhausted, and fell into a fitful sleep.

With all that riding on it – tell me, how well do you think you would shoot? Wouldn’t you be a tad nervous too?

Your sentiments are right, but going to City Hall sadly sounds more productive than it often is. After writing my own an angry letter about what I considered to be clearly excessive parking violation fees, and addressing their lack of genuine concern for the residents, I walked to my car one morning to find an unusual and very expensive ticket on my car. It could of course be coincidental, and I was technically in violation of a rule nobody actually follows, but the older I get and the more I see the less I have faith in appealing to a large bureaucracy’s concerns for myself… It’s sad to say, but it seems convention is often ineffectual and one must become the proverbial “squeaky wheel” in order to effect change.

    Oh the irony.
Philadelphia, where biblical tenants were once zealously adhered to and respected.
Philadelphia, that flourishing and prosperous city. It was the birthplace of American freedom, industrial innovation and invention; the epicenter of culture, literature, music, refinement. Everywhere in this city, impossibly beautiful architectural structures; absolute masterpieces conceived in the mind of 18th, 19th, 20th century genius now sit either crumbling wrecks or victims of the wrecking ball.
Now, Philadelphia and its environs are islamic strongholds filled with violence, repression, unfettered corruption and filth. A city in decay and collapse where nothing is produced except an expanding population of welfare leaches and oppressive taxes.
Philadelphia is no longer prosperous or flourishing, no longer a city touched by the hand of God. Except for its beautiful monuments that stand silent and enduring testimony to its biblical heritage, Philadelphia is in the final phase of stage 4 cancer. Soon it rival Dearbornistan in its embracing and endorsement of that sick and twisted ideology of islam. It is only a matter of time when Philadelphia, city of brotherly love will become Philadelphistan, city of hate.

Doesn’t anybody want to be a HERO anymore??

If the likes of Jesse Jackson (who used to be my hero) and Al Sharptongue, had preached my view, that blacks in a America had an almost fary-taleish, biblical story existence, then we would be enjoying total harmony and could tackle our bigger problems like economic, foreigh enemy, etc..

I don’t discount the experience of slavery but when you were brought here as slaves and now we have a black president, a black attorney general, a black presidential candidate who swept the people off their feet until SB happened, …

…then I say you have a fairytale existence and should teach your children, hey we came on ships but praise the Lord look where we are today. For generations people have told inspirational stories to their children to encourage them to go on and do better.

And the picture of the “Jawala Scouts” is pretty disturbing–boys as young as seven lined up and dressed para-military style. “Jawala” appears to mean “fire” or “burn”. Included in their activities is *firearms training*.

Here’s an article about them in Front Page Magazine:

      “Philadelphia’s Islamist Boy Scouts”

      http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/65463/philadelphias-islamist-boy-scouts-joe-kaufman

Overall, it looks as though Masjid Mujahideen should be thoroughly investigated.

“I care,” said Rashid, “But people who listened to what I said know I was being as accurate as I could possibly be.”

Yep. That is it. Don’t ask him any more questions. Islam has nothing to do with this.

America, will you ever wake up to Islam?

I caught that too. taqiya in action. In other words, don’t believe a word he says.

I have to believe that “Edward Archer” is not the name he used when he traveled to the Middle East or his local religious centers.

    *Very* true, Jayke.

I’m sure this Jihadist has a Muslim name.

      You were absolutely right, Jayke.

And that his Muslim name turns out to be *Abdul Shaheed* means he likely intended to wage violent Jihad as soon as he converted to Islam.

America may be catching on to the constant deceit offered by Muslims.

“Totally surprised”, “shocked”, “didn’t know him”, “don’t recognize his picture”, etc. etc. (Again?)

Put that together with the ongoing “Islamophobe” attacks that turn out to have been committed by Muslims… Circle back to “shocked”, “didn’t know”, etc etc.

Actually, judging by the comments on most news “stories” Americans have pretty well- informed and accurate opinions about Islam. It is the MSM and our politicians who are so deluded and/or pandering to this vile cult. This wishful thinking has got to stop.

Americans are pretty smart because they have been allowed to develop, and not been stifled by a controlling government. So while it’s frustrating that they don’t get on board quicker, we have to keep in mind that Americans aren’t going to be told what to do, but I believe that they will do what’s right when it’s called for…I also pray that is the case.

        Jan 12, 2016 at 7:40 pm

I should revise that Americans, before BHO, have not been controlled by their government. Unfortunately, we do see a situation, starting with MSNBC, where Americans are controlled by the government. There is a generation that IS BEING controlled, but that’s where we come in. It’s our job to guide this ship through the straits. We are the generation at the apex of American civilization so we owe it to the next generation.

Philadelphia cop shooter was “frequent member” of local mosque

Initially, the imam said he didn’t know the jihad shooter Abdul Shaheed (Edward Archer)…
    ……………………………

This denial is absolute boiler plate at this point.

    More:

If it is assumed that Masjid Mujahideen (!) teaches peace, why did Abdul Shaheed misunderstand or disregard those peaceful teachings? If those peaceful teachings are true Islam, why did Abdul Shaheed discard them for what we’re always told is a false version of the religion?
    ……………………………

The very name of the Mosque glorifies those who die while waging violent Jihad. And as I noted in a post above, this Mosque supports cop killer Mumia Abu Jamal, engages in prison Da’wa, and sponsors the “Jawala Scouts”, a sinister paramilitary group for Black Muslim boys as young as seven.

And if Edward Archer *was* converted through prison Da’wa, they this Imam almost certainly would know his Infidel name.

    More:

“We called him Abdul Shaheed . . . Abdul means ‘servant,’ and Shaheed means ‘the witness,’
    ……………………………

Of course, “Abdul” means “slave”, and “Shaheed” means Muslim “Martyr” who dies while waging violent Jihad. The same meaning, not incidentally, as the Mosque’s name, “Mujahideen”.

    More:

Typically, for the most important prayer of the week, said Rashid, Masjid Mujahideen gets 150 to 200 worshipers.

That is not a huge group. It is unlikely that the imam wouldn’t know someone who attended frequently and even organized touch football games there.
    ……………………………

In other words, another lyin’ Imam…

    More:

…The investigation took on added urgency Saturday after a tipster told police that Archer is associated with three men who may share his “radical” beliefs and constitute a continuing threat to police.
    ……………………………

Almost certainly. But it would probably be deemed “politically incorrect” to investigate this Mosque.

FIRST CLUE: always analyze the name of the mosque.

This one is called ‘Masjid Mujahideen’ (the mosque of THE JIHADISTS).

What was YOUR first clue that this might be a problem? Could the NAME of a mosque be a MESSAGE?

isn’t it funny how they always say they don’t know them? What BS! Burn these places down. Look at all these stupid mis-black american blacks looking for some validity or a place dressing up like this, fucking morons…Well, if you want to know what the enemy looks like there you go. Black men in man dresses with beards. Good going, now you will really be “accepted”

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? The place is called Masjid Mujahadeen? Mosque of Guerrilla fighters? Really? I wonder if I opened a church called fighters against islime how fast it would be closed. Enough of this shit already…

I understand you’re frustration. I like the islime because never, in my lifetime, has there ever been a more despicable excuse for a human being than isis.

We have to be diligent to speak up, but thoughtful in our reactions–it matters how we respond.

“He organized touch football teams in the community. That was the extent of it.” Holy Mother of God, now that is a new one, isn’t it? These imam dudes are really getting creative. I guess they must have a book of lies and excuses at the ready. It had better be a really big book, because the jihad just keeps on comin’. But wait, why do they even need lies and excuses when the Dhimmwit mainstream media automatically whitewashes everything for them?
