Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Robert Spencer in FrontPage: Trump Keeps On Being Trump In First Campaign Ad, Media Outraged

Jan 5, 2016 9:04 am By Robert Spencer

In FrontPage today, I explain why Trump is so appealing to so many Americans — which is the same reason why the mainstream media hates him so passionately:

trump-ad Muslim ban

Donald Trump has just released his first television ad, and the predictable Leftist firestorm has ensued. Instead of being embarrassed by his proposal for a moratorium on Muslim immigration in the face of the ongoing jihad threat, Trump has featured it front and center. And it turns out that his talk about securing the Southern border is accompanied by footage not of Mexicans, but of…Moroccans! The hard-Left self-proclaimed “fact checker” PolitiFact has given the ad a “Pants on Fire” rating, and pundits everywhere are tut-tutting about how the shoot-from-the-hip blowhard has done it again, and surely, surely this time, surely, he has finally torpedoed his own campaign.

Responding to the nontroversy, NBC News stated that “Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski told NBC News, ‘No sh—it’s not the Mexican border, but that’s what our country is going to look like. This was 1,000 percent on purpose.’” PolitiFact declared itself unsatisfied by this explanation – but its attention to this issue epitomizes how desperate the mainstream media is to derail Trump’s campaign, and how it keeps on trying to do it in a way that is certain to be ineffective.

Consider, after all, who will care that Trump’s campaign used footage of Moroccans when talking about Mexicans: Leftists who will crow about how Trump can’t tell his Brown-People-Whose-Names-Start-with-M apart, and who were never going to vote for him anyway. No one else. Back in the United States of America, no one cares. Trump will probably pick up some supporters from among those who know that border security and illegal immigration are major problems, and remain major problems even if Trump’s commercial uses video from some other place with border security and illegal immigration problems.

I am no fan of Trump. After he denounced our free-speech event in Garland, Texas, last May, which was attacked by Islamic jihadists, it is not at all clear that Donald Trump understands the jihad imperative or the war against free speech, or is at all equipped to counter them. When violent jihadis commit murder to prevent people from drawing Muhammad, to desist voluntarily from drawing Muhammad is to reward violent intimidation, and encourage more. When Trump said, “They can’t do something else? They have to be in the middle of Texas doing something on Muhammad and insulting everybody?,” he was revealing that he did not grasp that essential point, and was willing to acquiesce to Sharia restrictions on the freedom of speech.

It was an odd moment in a campaign that has been remarkable for Trump’s willingness to take on the Left’s sacred cows. He infuriates the mainstream media because he, unlike any other major candidate in recent memory, won’t dance to their tune: when Leftist journalists confront him about some supposedly egregious thing he has said, he doesn’t apologize, he doesn’t explain, he doesn’t back down – generally he doubles down, and with a cheerful defiance that has lifted the heart of everyone who has seen the arena of free discourse inexorably narrowed over the last few decades by the authoritarian enforcers of political correctness.

Many Americans love Trump because he says what they have been thinking, and have been thinking for a long time, even as they have been browbeaten into silence by a media culture that has been working for years to transform genuine and reasoned opposition to its political line into a faux pas, a “gaffe,” a step outside the realm of acceptable political discourse. Not content with electoral victories and effective control of the media, the educational system, and the entertainment industry, the Left has been pressing for total victory: the moment when anyone who dares to utter a commonsensical conservative view, such as “We need to take steps to stop Islamic jihad terrorism,” or “We need to secure our Southern border and end this massive illegal immigration,” will immediately stop, apologize, and correct himself. Trump will have none of it, and that is why he is so widely beloved.

The rot, however, is already very severely advanced. A few years back, Muslims who plotted a jihad mass murder attack at Fort Dix approached a young man in a video store, asking him to transfer their VHS tapes to DVD. In the course of doing this job, the young man discovered that the tapes were gory jihad videos of beheadings and shootings and other bloodshed, and he surmised that these men might be up to no good. But before he called police (which, to his credit, he ultimately did, and the plot was foiled), he stopped to ask his boss whether his concern about the jihad material was “racist.”

That young man’s hesitation was a testament to the effectiveness of the Left’s war on common sense and reason. Now Trump is fighting back – and horror of horrors! He featured Moroccans in his commercial when speaking about Mexicans! That the media is now grasping at such straws as these, and expecting anyone, much less Donald Trump, to care, reveals how avid the Leftist establishment is to stop this man who threatens their hegemony.

Whatever happens to the presidential candidacy of Donald Trump, his challenge to that hegemony has been and is refreshing. If his insouciance in the face of those who set themselves up as our moral and intellectual superiors, and refusal to toe their line, survives his candidacy and spreads to others, he will have done the country an unparalleled service, no matter who is elected in November.

People love Trump because he is a real American who tells it like it is and loves this country. I can’t wait to vote for him in the primary. Trump 2016!

Trump’s campaign website is still very accessible to any of us for comments and support. The contact link is at the very bottom of his homepage: www [dot] donaldjtrump [dot] com. Even if he is not your ultimately perfect choice, consider sending a short message of support — I did, and I am a Cruz backer.

Let him know how necessary for America’s survival is his relentless exposure of Islam as a supremacist ideology, and PASS ALONG LINKS TO EVIDENCE ABOUT THAT FACT — along with your personal favorite truth-tellers like Robert and the other major counter-jihad resources.

I live in Australia so perhaps I don’t understand why you support Trump but will vote for Cruz.
Has Cruz demonstrated that he will fix this Isamisation of America problem better than Trump has?
Does Cruz perhaps have good domestic policies which trump Trump?

        • TheBuffster says

          Jan 6, 2016 at 1:11 am

Cruz seems to know the US Constitution and to have real respect for it, and I believe he would defend our Constitutional Rights with his life.

Trump, his very own self, has tried to use eminent domain more than once to make people sell their property to him against their will, with the excuse that his plans for their property would be more beneficial to the community than their love of their own measly, unattractive properties.

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmM4ZBoppNQ

Trump is a man who apparently thinks his vision trumps the property rights – and perhaps other rights – of those who won’t go along with his vision of the greater good. He’s acted on that principle as a private citizen attempting to use the power of government to make others submit to his vision. We don’t need more of that in a president. We’ve just been through 7 years of that, and will have to endure yet another before possible relief.

Obama is a man who does not love the USA and whose aim – which he voiced before he was elected – was to lead from behind, to bring America down a few pegs, to “fundamentally change America”. I have no doubt that Cruz loves America and wants it to be strong and free, and that if he can be persuaded that some policy of his would damage America that he would change that policy. I believe that he won’t sell us out to Islam, because he loves our liberties.

While I believe Trump wants America to be great again, he does not have the principled understanding to keep America free. He’s an action man, but for action to be a good thing it has to be guided by true and sound principles. He might save us from Islam, but will he save us from himself?

Although Donald Trump is a refreshing thumb in the eye of the politically correct establishment, and he will, I hope, give other politicians the courage to be bold in their defiance of PC, he doesn’t have the principled foundation we so desperately need in a leader now. He has demonstrated in action that he has what it takes to use government to take what isn’t his to take. No thank you.

Trump is a LibTard who brags about buying politicians including Hillary Clinton. He is an opportunist who promises gold and will deliver shit after the handshake. Crfuz is the real deal, a Consiervative. Neither of them demonstrates knowledge of Islam. “Islam 101 For Politicians” was created for their benefit.

I, as a Canadian, am really hoping for a President Trump. The beatings and public humiliation he would unleash on the cowering idiot trust fund leftist Turdeau, would be incredible. There is nobody on the American political scene anything like him. Though he is not a “perfect” candidate, he is perfect for what America (and the world) desperately need. It’s funny, but all that Trump is saying with these comments that outrage the media so much with regards to immigration and national security, are simply eyes wide open truths. The more he speaks to truth, the more furious they get. When we wipe away the conspiracy antisemite nutjobs and REALLY look into the sinister forces who own virtually controlling interests in major mainstream media outlets — actually following the money — we learn who the enemies of America and, by extension, Donald Trump are. They are absolutely terrified of him.

      • Don McKellar says

        Jan 5, 2016 at 11:07 am

Of course we all know about Carlos Slim being the major owner of the New York Times and tax cheat Jeff Bezos (Amazon) who owns the Washington Post. Both of them HATE Trump because of the truths he’s speaking which would devastate them financially in favor of the law and America and ordinary Americans. There are many more examples. When you really follow the money, you start to figure out what’s really going on. And you learn why a Trump presidency would be so beneficial to America at this crucial time in history.

          Hello again Don —

Thank you for that reminder about Jeff Bezos buying the Washington Post, my hometown newspaper since 1972, when it got the Watergate story nailed down, and Nixon resigning as a result.

Now it has turned — in both news coverage (with rare exceptions) and on the opinion page — into an excuser for Islam. I have given up wasting time to reply to Eugene Robinson, Ruth Marcus, Kathleen Parker, Jennifer Rubin, and others whose names I have shut out of my mind.

BACK TO THE SUBJECT — DONALD TRUMP: this is a link to an item in Politico, about how scared the Repub establishment is of BOTH Trump and Cruz. Reading through the entire article’s chosen quotes, one would think that domestic terrorism and ISIS caliphate agenda simply did not exist.

It left me shaking my ancient noggin in utter disbelief. Robert touched on this kind of disconnect by elected cowards who value their salaries more than U.S. security.

By the way: you might already have discovered the brilliant Mark Steyn — www [dot] steynonline [dot] com — but I am embarrassed to admit that only last week did I visit his website.

He has been through the wringer with your Canadian “human rights commission” over free speech limits. PLEASE, EVERYONE, CHECK OUT THIS ASTONISHINGLY COMPREHENSIVE COUNTER-JIHADIST. A “Renaissance Man” in modern times.

Trump’s fatal flaw is that Trump is only concerned about the freedom of Trump, not the freedom of the ordinary citizen, who he would presumably crush should he get in Trump’s way.

Definition of demagogue: a political leader who seeks support by appealing to popular desires and prejudices rather than by using rational argument.

Trump NEVER discusses or mentions freedom, except to disagree with it.

          Leftist “demagogue” BS about Trump?

No, not leftist and not bullshit.

Some conservatives are getting sucked into Trump’s orbit because he *is* standing up to a lot of PC crap with gusto, and it is a refreshing sight to behold. But he is *not* a man of principle and does not have the type of moral character that we need in a president right now. He’s happy to sacrifice the little guy to his own vision of how things should be. He’s proven that over many years.

          For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmM4ZBoppNQ

The Institute for Justice, who fought against Trump’s attempt to get Vera Coking’s property against her will, is not a leftist organization. They’ve been fighting for many years to protect Americans from government infringements on their rights.

Here’s a video made back in 2011, regarding Trump’s attempt to take property because he didn’t like the way it looked from the golf course he made in Scotland:

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIdLTRmNCNA

This issue alone is enough to reveal a moral/philosophical flaw in Donald Trump that is so great and so UNAMERICAN in principle that he should not be considered for president.

Islam is a major threat to us, but it is not the only thing that can destroy American liberty. So can a president who thinks individual rights take a back seat to prettying up the neighborhood and bringing more jobs and taxes to a community, individual property rights be damned. Just listen to how he justifies himself in that first video while he’s being grilled by John Stossel.

The principle that government has the right to push us around and undercut our rights if our leaders think it’s for the greater good – *their* vision of the “greater good”, their project for improvement – is one that we should not accept from any leader, no matter what else he says or does that we like. No matter what his rhetoric. It’s his past record that should count far more than any words he uses to woo us.

Character counts. And the principle of individual rights – including property rights – matters. We can’t stand to have another president who doesn’t take that principle seriously and who will have the power and opportunity to appoint Supreme Court justices. Our liberty, our property rights, have already been dangerously eroded.

What we need is a president who knows the US Constitution, understands the principles it’s based on, and will defend it against all of its enemies. We need a president who will do all that is in his power to restore what has been eroded.

          That’s not Trump.

The stakes are too high to trust the USA to a man with a history like Trump’s. He’s a showman. He knows how to win people over who are sick and tired of a weak leader who has aimed for two terms to cut America down to size.

But we need to vote with our intelligence, not our anger and frustration. Trump is not the savior you think he is. He’s just a donkey of a different color.

You are just believing every little thing he is telling you – what makes you think he is being honest? – he is running to be President for goodness sake- his last not-yet-attained ambition – you have seen how he attacks what he wants in life – he is totally ruthless – that is what you are seeing right now – Trump is just an ego-with-a-hair-do – saying whatever he thinks keeps him in the news and gets himself elected. I suspect he laughs mightily within his own little circle at how gullible the masses are ! Do you really think he has ANY respect for the little guy (even any respect at all for the little woman??) – you are crazy – this man is laughing all the way to the bank er- Presidency !!!!

Robert defends Trump’s service to inconvenient truths, not Trump the man. The man himself is inconsistent and ultimately unpredictable–but I know enough to distrust his judgment in nominating Supreme Court and judiciary candidates. The common man wants Trump to champion the common man, but Trump’s be-all-and-end-all is to enlist the high and the low in the service of Trump.

And thank you, Robert, for a superb summary of the Trump phenomenon. You totally nailed it. Although Trump perhaps does not ‘get’ everything we [counter-jihadists] would like him to get about Sharia Law and its limits on free speech, he IS willing to stand up to the mainstream media and simply refuse to toe their politically correct line. And you’re absolutely right about that being a main reason for his support among the people.

Trump gets it that America has an illegal immigrant problem and a Muslim problem and he has the right answers for both of these problems. The Democrat party supports open borders, the non-deportation of illegal aliens, including criminals, continued high levels of Muslim immigration (currently 100,000 per year), and pretending that Islamic terrorists have nothing to do with Islam. Ann Coulter calls them Treasoncrats, and she is correct. The whole party sucks!

May I add to your answer?

Robert Spencer is one of the people I most respect and admire. He not only has the facts solidly behind him, and an in-depth, detailed knowledge of Islam, which he shares, but he uses solid logic in all his arguments. Furthermore, he displays superb courage in subjecting himself to the hatred and rage of Muslims who would happily kill him if they could.

I always listen to Robert’s opinions, because I know they are backed up by not only knowledge and logic, but by truth and courage. I always reread his summary of Trump when Robert comments on a Trump tactic.

My admiration of Robert is based on his truth, logic and courage, but of course, I reserve my option to have my own opinion, even if different from Robert. It’s part of the culture of freedom and liberty: free men, freedom of expression, and the freedom of political alignment. There is no one who has done more to advance the cause of such freedoms than Robert.

I hope if Trump wins the presidency, Mr. Spencer and other knowledgeable counter-jihadists are brought back into the government to give the bureaucrats crash courses in the naked and unadulterated truths about Islam and bring the government back up to speed real fast. Bringing them back quickly to inform the government on the dangers of Islam would be like applying a tourniquet to a hemorrhaging wound.

And I, in general a Liberal, really admire Robert too, he says what he believes with no malice, that is what is so important. We achieve nothing by getting vicious over this subject of Islam, much as I thoroughly dislike the whole subject. So we can discuss, work out what resolutions we should consider for what actually is a real issue and keep our sanity, and discourage ignorant people from simply taking matters into their own hands – which solves nothing of course !

That is the most satisfying political ad I have ever watched.

Frankly I am surprised that there were not more insults of “racist, islamophobe” hurled at Trump for the ad. There were certainly a plethora of them coming at him from every direction, especially the right, when he first made his bold proposal. This time, when the ad came out not many slurs were hurled (that I saw). It was as though their “racist epitaph” wad had already been shot and they had nothing left.

This is a very good sign, IMO and demonstrates that the original slurs were all for show and had no substance behind them.

What Trump is showing, on the other hand, is that he has substance and conviction behind his concern for the Muslim problem. As people like Robert and Pam have also proven over and over again, beyond any doubt that they do too. As patriots, along with many others here, they are willing to put themselves in a dangerous position for such a noble cause as to cry “fire” when the building is actually engulfed in flames when the POTUS, media and other candidates are so deranged as to spend millions to convince us that it is impossible that there can be a fire and that in fact, we are un-American if we don’t want to bring more gasoline into the building. Trump, with his bombastic personality, money and ego has had the power to punch the Islamophilic disinformation campaign in the nose and still remain on top. Good for him and good for civilization.

  5. Mike says

    Jan 5, 2016 at 10:00 am

To understand the man and his views you have to be able to look behind the brash and arrogant front to get to the real issues but the left refuse to do that as they know his right in what he says. The main problem with the left wing media is they are so consumed with his persona and pick out sound bites on his position on illegal immigration, gun control or Obamacare but they refuse to look at the whole picture. For example, pausing on immigration from non verifiable countries makes sense until the vetting program can be fixed. tightening gun laws which is already in place in California but didn’t stop San Bernandino and making Obamacare compulsory with a fine if you didn’t sign up, hasn’t stopped people making a judgment that its cheaper to take a risk and pay the fine.

Trump understand human nature and relates to it whilst the left refuse to and use their ideology & dogma aided by the MSM for legislation even though human nature will kick back and prevent it working as in Obamacare.

O’Reilly on Fox the last night was pressing Trump hard over what he would do over the Saudi – Iran stand off and Trump rightly refused to say what he would do. Trumps response was why should I show my hand to those Islamic states over matters of national security unlike Obama who tells them what he will do (red line) and then reneges. The business negotiation strength of Trump was obvious as you don’t show your hand over matters of business or national security.

In summary, it is the case that with the Labour party in the UK and the Democrats over here, their social, immigration, fiscal and other policies are driven by party ideology and not common sense or practicality. Both countries have outsiders who have been labeled racists & bigots by the left for the simple fact that the left cannot debate the true facts with them as they know they will lose.

Trump has brought his take-no-prisoners HUGE PERSONALITY AND COURAGE right into the campaign.

Several weeks ago, after finally facing reality about how the Demoocrat party would never in a foreseeable future turn back to Center-Moderate from its current ultra-leftist swing, I became a support of Ted Cruz.

But I love what The Donald is doing to shred seditionist Huma-lover Hillary and her serial rapist accomplice Billary. Yesterday, at a rally, Hillary told the crowd she was, from now on, going to ignore whatever Trump said.

Well, to sort of quote Winston Churchill, Trump is the worst candidate we have – except for all of those other candidates. He is the only candidate supporting “free speech”. If we lose that – then we have lost the battle. It would be great if someone could get to Trump and show him how dangerous Islam actually is. But considering Trump – that may be too much to ask. Perhaps it would be best just to push the “freedom of speech” issue.

What is interesting is Trump’s comment on the weekend.

To quote “They’ve created ISIS. Hillary Clinton created ISIS with Obama — created with Obama,”

Of course, as far as I am aware, the mainstream media completely ignored this comment. They don’t want this to become public knowledge when Trump is called on to back up his claim.

Clinton claims she wants to run against Trump. Nonsense! He is the last Republican candidate she wants to run against. She knows full well he will drag up all the Clinton scandals, lies and failed policies. There will be nothing she can hit back at him with.

Could someone fill me in on the details as to how ISIS was created? My mini-understanding was that when Saddam Husain was eliminated, a power vacuum was created and that vacuum was filled by al-Qaida/ISIS – before the time of Hillary.

      • Muhammad Bear says

        Jan 5, 2016 at 11:49 am

ISIS grew out of the vacuum that was Libya, during Clinton’s time. Further, there is compelling evidence that the Obama Administration has been supporting, funding and arming ISIS. Before that the Obama Administration was arming Al Qaeda.

There is evidence that Ambassador Stevens was going to blow the whistle on Obama arming Al Qaeda and that is why the Obama Administration gave the order for the armed forces to stand down during Benghazi.

If you recall Britain and other countries sought to get parliamentary approval to attack Syria. This was denied. So Al Qaeda was used as a proxy. Due to US troop tweets and other leaked information it became apparent that the US government was supporting Al Qaeda against Assad. Due to public backlash, Al Qaeda needed a rebrand. Enter ISIS.

And the neocon Republicans are just as bad. Ask yourself why some Republican candidates are trying to get a no fly zone over Syria. ISIS doesn’t have an air force. It is to stop Russia from taking out ISIS.

The US really needs a non-party candidate like Trump to get the presidency. I fear this may be the last throw of the dice.

To Muhammad Bear and Atheist7 – Regarding

“ISIS grew out of the vacuum that was Libya, during Clinton’s time.”

Would it be fair to say that ISIS ultimately (and with Clinton and Obama intention) came into its own and benefited from the gun-running operation from Benghazi, through Turkey and ultimately to Syria, to supply the Syrian “insurgents” (who were revolting against Assad) with weaponry that Clinton and Obama intended and hoped would bring Assad down?

It is my impression that all those armaments went right into the hands of a group of Muslims who emerged as ISIS. Am I wrong? Goodness knows, I could be, but this has been my understanding of Benghazi from the getgo, although I don’t read or hear a lot of exposition of this scenario. What do you think, Muhammad B? Does what I say amplify your statement? Or do you take issue with it?

          Cheers!

I agree with what you have written. I think it is well put.

I would add that the gun running leading up to the Benghazi attacks was to supply Al Qaeda. There is no doubt that the toppling of Gadhafi lead to a power vacuum. But the immediate question that occurs to me is why wasn’t this filled by Al Qaeda (who must have been in a position of strength in the region)?

To me it just seems a little convenient for a new organization to have organically emerged in this vacuum, stronger than Al Qaeda, at a time when the Obama Administration was coming under increasing scrutiny for aiding Al Qaeda in their attempts to topple Assad.

As an aside, I heard something very interesting over the weekend. Regardless of one’s views of Alex Jones, his information is generally excellent, he has access to great sources and when he is wrong he takes it back.

On the weekend, I heard one such incident of him retracting an earlier position when he recanted his earlier rejection of those people claiming Obama was a Muslim. He had always dismissed it in the past. However, secret service and other high ranking people in the Administration have confided with him that the position inside the White House is much worse than he thinks.

The inside information is that Obama is a Muslim who prays facing Mecca five times a day. This is from more than one source (unnamed). Further, he and Michelle Obama treat the Secret Service like dirt.

I have seen videos of Robert addressing the issue of whether Obama is a Muslim. His typical response is that he has no idea if Obama is a Muslim or not, but if he was, what would he be doing differently? I think that nails it.

Though, if Alex’ sources are correct. We now know the answer to Robert’s question.

BTW, a few years ago, I read a gossipy book by a former secret service member about Hillary, and he described atrocious behaviour and attitude towards the secret service by the Clintons. This should come as no surprise to anyone, as the secret service is an embodiment of law and order (and security, of course) and neither the Obamas nor the Clintons have any respect for law and order.

The North American Law Center has drafted Articles of Impeachment. They were drafted in 2014. http://northamericanlawcenter.org/

Apparently, at a meeting to be held on 13 January the RNC is going to consider introducing these Articles to Congress – I’ll believe that when I see it!

The full document can be found here http://northamericanlawcenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Articles-of-Impeachment-of-Barack-Hussein-Obama-3.2-41.pdf

All the grounds are true and well documented.

What is interesting is this ground of impeachment.

“Without any congressional authority or oversight and in direct violation of his duties as Commander-in-Chief, he has directly engaged in the covert aiding and abetting of foreign entities via the funding, arming, training and intelligence assistance to known enemies of the United States, the Muslim Brotherhood, ISIS, Al Qaeda, Hamas, the Taliban, the Palestinian Authority, Hezbollah, the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group and others;”

Great post but I respectfully disagree on one point. If Trump is not elected we are lost. There will be no permanent change in our culture or politics because of his campaign. To the contrary.

No one else does it or apparently can do it like Trump. His leadership must survive the election. There is zero effective leadership otherwise.

If Trump is not elected president, it will rightfully be regarded as a rejection of Trump’s insights. Trump’s “service” will not merely be in vain. It will be the final flash of light on what was and never more will be.

Trump’s Garland error was grave, especially given the sheer bravery involved. Shame on him for that.

    • Jack Diamond says

      Jan 5, 2016 at 12:43 pm

Diana West’s piece highlights what is significant about Trump’s campaign, regardless of outcome.

“Blasting through hard, dense layers of “political correctness” with plain talk that shocks, Trump has set in motion very rusty wheels of reality-based thinking, beginning a long-overdue honest-to-goodness public debate about the future of America — or, better, whether there will be a future for America. That debate starts at the border, too.

A well-defended border is an obvious requisite for any nation-state. It bears noting, however, that before Donald Trump, not one commander in chief, and (aside from former Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-CO), not one figure of national fame and repute I can think of had ever put it to the people of this land that a wall was a way to stop our border crisis: the unceasing flow into the nation of illegal masses of mainly Spanish-speaking aliens, among them terrorists, criminals (yes, including rapists and murderers) and transnational gangs. On the contrary, crime and chaos at the U.S. non-border are what every branch and bureaucracy of our government expect We, the People to accept as normal — and pay for as good citizens.

But good citizens of what — the world?

For many decades, the unspoken answer to this inconceivable question (inconceivable, that is, before Trump) has been yes. “We Are the World” has been the USA’s unofficial anthem, the political muzak of our times that we either hum along to, or accept in teeth-gritted silence for fear of censure (or cancelled party invitations). “Openness,” “multiculturalism,” “globalism” — all have been pounded into us for so long that I think Americans despaired of ever hearing anyone give voice again to a patriotic vision of American interests.

His judiciously sensible, also unprecedented call for a moratorium on Muslim immigration following the San Bernardino jihad attacks is a perfect example. Citing polling commissioned by the Center for Security Policy that reveals shockingly high support among Muslims in America for 1) violent jihad in America — 25 percent believe it is justified, and 2) sharia law in America — 51 percent believe they should have the choice of being governed here by Islamic law (sharia), Trump called for a ban on Muslims entering the United States “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.”

As Trump makes clear, our country’s representatives have no clue. Worse, they seem content to remain in ignorance no matter how many Americans die, no matter how far sharia spreads. Not Trump. When you think about it, his call for a Muslim immigration moratorium is really a no-brainer — but whose “politically correct” brain is capable even of thinking of it, let alone calling for it out loud? I regret to say that Sen. Cruz does not support Trump’s moratorium, deferring instead to a rosier vision of Islam and immigration screening both in order, politely, to reject it.

That’s too bad but so it goes, further testament to the fearless, agenda-setting powers of Trump. It’s really quite incredible: soon, maybe even before it’s too late, GOP primary voters will have a clear choice on walls, borders, immigration, even Islamic immigration (and, I would hope, the related issue of Islamic law), all because Donald Trump plucked these crucial issues from the void where the politicians, including good conservatives, have been eager to leave them.”

This was the kind of jaw-dropping effectiveness never seen in gummint projects, and it has stayed in my mind and occurs to me often today as I listen to the patriotic and flamboyant Donald. • eduardo odraude says

      Jan 5, 2016 at 1:13 pm

Notice how political correctness comes from something analogous to this Bible verse (Matthew 5:28):

But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

The analogous situation is that the politically correct person — and even many other people who are not politically correct — since World War 2 and the Jim Crow era in America, quite understandably feel that to support racism in any way is to commit lynchings, murder, and genocide in one’s heart. Few people, thankfully, are okay about having any truck with murder and genocide.

The problem is when this understandable horror over racism and potential genocide gets extended to horror over criticism of religion. Islam is a choice, not a race, and therefore should be subject to criticism by anyone who wants to criticize it. It’s true that Islam mimics the largely unfree character of race and genetics, insofar as Islam tries to eliminate freedom in several ways: through commanding death for Muslims who try to leave Islam; through global mainstream Islam’s rejection of independent reason.and independent conscience, and the subjection of mental independence to boundaries set by the Qur’an and life of Muhammad; through the fact that Muslims are supposed to learn and say their five daily prayers (Qur’an verses) in the archaic Arabic of the Qur’an, with the result that the many Muslims who understand no Arabic, and even those who understand only modern Arabic, not Qur’anic Arabic, simply don’t know much about what the Qur’an teaches (and know even less about the Hadith and earliest Muslim biography of Muhammad). But the fact that Islam mimics the unfree character of race in several ways is no reason for us to accept the mimicry. Muslims must be called on to inform themselves and choose whether they want to be part of their violent, expansionist, totalitarian theocratic ideology, or not.

Most Muslims have no political strategy for doing this…they are waiting for ‘someone’ to do this…most Muslims are passive and non-intellectual… 15% of Muslims support jihad…but most of the 15% are passive too.

However, the Leftists need the Muslims politically as their ‘noble savage’ allies and as a voting block to oppose and defeat the European culturalists in the Marxist war for political power over Europe and America. Leftists want Muslim immigrants and voters under the delusion that they will be able to ‘ride the tiger’ of Islam indefinitely…they even think that they eventually tame the tiger. Leftists generally have not considered what will happen to our society if the Leftists decide to dismount the tiger.

Please think again. To exclude a totalitarian movement from spreading into a liberal democracy does not show affinity with totalitarian regimes.

Your thinking takes multiculturalism — something that is good when applied to tolerant cultures — and extends it to a totalitarian culture. Multiculturalism will only destroy itself if it accepts a totalitarian culture, Therefore that kind of multiculturalism — call it masochistic multiculturalism — is absurd. For multiculturalism to make sense, it must be applied only to non-totalitarian cultures.

    Robert Spencer,
Abraham Lincoln, in the months and years before he issued the Emancipation Proclamation, revoked two slave emancipations that had been declared by two of his generals. Lincoln did so in part because he thought that with the tremendous societal changes he contemplated, he needed to time emancipation and coordinate it with political and military factors, lest he lose the war and become responsible for the permanent establishment of an independent slave state in the South. Could it be that Trump objected to Garland because, paradoxically, he essentially agrees with what you are doing (as Lincoln essentially agreed with his emancipating generals), but he wants now for the counterjihad to be coordinated from the center of the nation, and sees the Garland event as some generals doing too much of their own thing to be good for a coordinated national counterjihad strategy with the best chances of national political success? That would be a mistake on Trump’s part, but I wonder if there is some analogy, not to Lincoln’s greatness, but to Lincoln’s attitude toward two of his generals’ emancipatory actions. Lincoln needed to keep control of what was in many ways a revolutionary process, not because he wanted to suppress it, but because he wanted to prudently guide it to success and prevent the disastrous outcome that is so common with revolutions. Perhaps Trump senses that he represents a need for nearly revolutionary changes in the American situation (because of Islam and ISIS), and therefore he is a bit on edge about taking charge of that process of change. Your work at Garland and elsewhere is rather revolutionary and highly provocative, and Trump may want to take charge of the timing and strategy of that revolution, not suppress it.

The KISS Rule and Occam’s razor apply. The simple explanation is usually the right one. Trump is not joining the Crusade, he opposes it.

Hundreds of women sexually assaulted in Cologne by thousands of men from muslim countries.
    Europe needs a trumpet.

They do it mainly because they are educated in Islamic culture, not because of poverty or lack of education.

Mr Trump ; I thank you for your understanding of real islam. I am writing from Turkey and it has been so long time that western politicians misunderstood islam… There is nothing peaceful in İslam, western people must understand this, please you can not be so naive to say it’s a normal religion. Why westerners not get this reality !

First, they have not read the Koran, hadith & shari’ah. Foremost, if they acknowledged the intrinsic evil of Islam, they would be compelled to exterminate it, something they falsely equate with the Holocaust.

Frau Merkel invited all muslims to ‘come on in and bring your korans with you’. Time to retire the woman. Any nation that allows muslims to take over like Germany, Sweden and Norway have done, is doomed. You can never get rid of them!

Good article Spencer. I am worried about what Trump might do, disagree with much that he says, but love the way he ignores or blows off critisizm. It’s refreshing. I remember his Garland remarks, but he sure is a free speech advocate by example.

A man of principle would say “Free speech for me and for thee.”

A not-so-principled person might say “Free speech for me, but not for thee.”

Free speech by example isn’t a guarantee of anything. A man has to show that he grasps and supports the principle – for everyone.

The writer of the article may not (yet) be a Trump fan, but I am. Trump has my support, and my vote.

Unlike most political pundits, Trump didn’t become a reality star until later in life. Unlike most politicians of any stripe, Trump really DID “build that” – and not only brought it in on time, but under budget.

He actually has no more real capital than he started with if you change the value from his inheritance into current day value. He has gone bust (under assumed names) several times, altho recovered, and has multiple accusations of cheating people out of their contractually agreed payments – so yes he can get things done if you don’t care that he is a cheat – but you personally have no guarantee of anything he stands for since he doesn’t actually tell you what he would do except build that wall (probably impossible, but do you think he cares about that?), he is laughing at you suckers !!

While I think that they will certainly try, voter fraud can only get you so far. I think that Trump’s margin over Hillary will be large enough that they won’t be able to do it. Plus Trump will have his own people in there supervising the count so they won’t turn a blind eye like some of the neocon Republican may.

I think Trump only came to formalize what the leftists and hypocrites have been trying hard to suppress.

the Left has been pressing for total victory: the moment when anyone who dares to utter a commonsensical conservative view, such as “We need to take steps to stop Islamic jihad terrorism,” or “We need to secure our Southern border and end this massive illegal immigration,” will immediately stop, apologize, and correct himself.

This reminds me of a video of a panel where “feminists” were discussing current “problems” and making their “demands” known. One of them was that men accused of rape or any sort of sexual abuse should be forced to write an apology regardless of evidence to their guilt – if anyone accuses them they should be forced to apologize for what they did, even if there’s no evidence to prove they actually did something.
