    Hate speech and incitement to violence I’m against. No case to allow inciting to kill or be violent as that’s a destructive to society.

    But constructive criticism nothing wrong with that.

        Robert Spencer shows just how insidious this bill is.

        1– The bill not impose any penalties (yet), thereby making it more palatable to gullible and self-serving politicians.

        2 — He spells out the true agenda of the bill.

    • Wellington says

      Banning hate speech (and just who exactly is to be the judge of what constitutes hate speech?) is the route by which virtually any kind of free speech will eventually be banned. Of course, one cannot make physical threats because imminent action or action itself does not fall under protected speech per the First Amendment but I assure you, worldcitizen1919, that what you have proposed is a legal recipe for the ending of free speech.

      One should be free to criticize or mock any religion as much as one wants. Short of this, free speech is in jeopardy and one knows this or should know it. For the preservation of free speech I for one very much hope that the future does belong to those who would criticize and mock Mohammed (contra Obama’s wretched as well as legally incorrect statement before the UN that the future should not belong to those who would slander Mohammed since you can’t slander a dead person).

        Wellington, How right you are! who will judge “what constitutes ‘hate speech’?” The present minister, the President, the Party boss? I have been branded a ‘racist’ for making perfectly reasonable comments about Islam being a totalitarian ideology. It’s simply a fact – there’s no disputing the matter. But of course, Muslims might not want kafirs to know that, which thereby makes the comment ‘offensive’.

        I remember the mast head of one our major newspapers some 50 years ago, carried Thomas Jefferson’s comment on the US First Amendment: “Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost.” It’s a pity they discontinued the quote.

        And what applies to freedom of the press, must also apply to freedom of speech in general. Those who are quick to condemn such freedoms, either subscribe to destructive beliefs or ideologies which need to be challenged, or are simply acting as ‘useful idiots’ to spread such beliefs. Restricting freedom of speech on some issues, will inevitably lead to the loss of that freedom for everyone, no matter what the topic.

          Thanks for your comment, Aussie Infidel (I’m a proud infidel too). Compounding all this is that Muslims are offended by almost everything so if one cravenly tries never to offend Muslims such a person will effectively be confined to only the most bland and innocuous of statements, which is pretty much exactly what Muslims aplenty want since Islam is a mortal enemy of true free speech.

      @worldcitizen1919 – “Hate speech and incitement to violence I’m against. No case to allow inciting to kill or be violent ..”

      “Hate speech” is a subjective term. According to Islam and its followers, any criticism of Muhammad or Islam is “hate speech”.

      But to call Muhammad an impostor, cheat, liar, pedophile, mass-murderer, war-criminal, slave-trader, criminal against humanity, narcissistic megalomaniac is simply stating the truth based muslim historical records.

      http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/Muhammad/myths-mu-home.htm

      Incitement to violence and murder? Yes I’m against that – ban that.

      Quran (2:191-193) – “And kill them wherever you find them…
      Quran (2:216) – “Fighting is prescribed for you,
      Quran (3:151) – “Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority”
      Quran (4:74) – “…Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward…”
      Quran (4:76) – “Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah…”
      Quran (4:89) – “… if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them;…”
      Quran (4:104) – “And be not weak hearted in pursuit of the enemy;…”
      Quran (8:12) – “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them”
      Quran (8:67) – “It is not for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war until he had made a great slaughter in the land…”
      Quran (8:65) – “O Prophet, exhort the believers to fight…”
      Quran (9:5) – “So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them,..”
      And many, many more. That is incitement to murder non-believers, that is non-Muslims.
      Qur’an (4:34) – “.. good women are therefore obedient, ..(as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; …”
      That is incitement to violence against women.
      Quran (8:55) “Surely the vilest of animals in Allah’s sight are those who disbelieve, then they would not believe.”
      And over 500 verses promising eternal torture in the mythical but horrendous Islamic hell.
      That is hate speech against the non-Muslim and also threats of violence – threats of eternal torture in hell.

        Hello Richard —-

        Thank you for that list of HATE SPEECH in the Qur’an. Muslims who are fully OBEDIENT conduct their lives by the Sura verses you mention, and thus we have a fourteen hundred year bloodbath, deliberately immune to progress on even the most basic human rights concepts.

        Here is a relevant page from one of the best web resources on Islam: http://www.citizenwarrior.com/2010/09/qurans-last-word-on-non-muslims.html

        It is about Chapter 9, Taubah (in English “Ultimatum”) — a revelation from Islam’s “god” written a year before Muhammad died. So, it abrogates (cancels) all previous passages where Allah directed tolerance for infidels or hypocrites.

        For newbies or readers of Jihadwatch who have not yet found these other experts and counter-jihadists, here we go: http://www.pamelageller.com / http://www.inquiryintoislam.com / http://www.answeringislam.com / http://www.thereligionofpeace.com / http://www.politicalislam.com / http://www.barenakedislam.com.

        If a busy schedule is free for only 5 minutes, to wake up clueless relatives + friends + elected officials [senators + congresspersons] find this on the web: a REALITY MASTERPIECE by Islam expert David Wood — “The Jihad Triangle”.

        When a little extra time lands in your lap, try these two, also by David: “Three Stages of Jihad” — 25 minutes / “Taqiyya” — 7 minutes. Radio guy Mark Levin gets the current situation perfectly — “We don’t have another year”. HE SAYS WHAT SHOULD BE CRYSTAL CLEAR TO ALL OF US:

        Barry Hussein Soetoro (also known as Barack Obama) who never had the maturity or patriotism for devotion to Western liberty, hopes to end his presidency by setting in place a political process for Caliphate victory.

I am not willing to surrender my right to free speech, guaranteed by the Constitution of the US, to a bunch of Muslim-loving Dems who are working to destroy my country.

      As to Islam and Mohammed, Islam is blood-thirsty, murderous, polygamous, pedophilic, slave-holding, barbaric, and Seventh Century backward thinking. Mohammed was a child-raping pig. Was that hateful? Oh, Sorry.

      Are the Muslims so stupid that they don’t see that the first book to be forbidden is the Qur’an, as it full of Intolerance, Negative Stereotyping and Stigmatization of, and Discrimination, and it orders by Allah himself, “Incitement to Violence and Violence Against, Persons Based on Religion or Belief,” especially against Jews. Because the Islam is not a religion, but an undesirable cult and/or an ideology it is not protected by the freedom of religion. Every Muslim who does not clearly disavow these hateful sura’s is accessory to a hate crime.

    #worldcitizen1919, you are part of the problem. Apparently you just don’t get it, no matter how many times Spencer, Gabriel, or Geller tell you.
    When you say you are against Hate Speech – who are you allowing to decide what is hate speech? Do you think it will be a group or a person that is totally unbiased?
    Is bacon on the door handle of a Las Vegas mosque hate speech? According to Muslims it is.
    What you are for is censorship, which is exactly what Muslims want. It will not apply equally, it will silence all criticism of Islam. It will silence all criticism of any group who claims that it threatens their particular lifestyle.
    You have the right to ignore hate speech. You have the right to be offended by it.
    You do not have the right to decide if it is hate speech. Because it will be to somebody.

    Hello worldcitizen — In this video, from 1:13 to 2:05, Robert explains why this “resolution” is dangerous to our First Amendment guarantee of freedom to speak our minds.

    It puts incitement to violence TOGETHER with “hate speech”. To urge that an innocent person be harmed is always wrong. But “hate speech” leaves the definition of that subjective term UP TO THE LISTENER.

    For a hypothetical example: let’s imagine you are at a rally by neo-Nazis on a public street in your town. The participants ask for bystanders’ reactions to the Jewish holocaust undertaken by Adolph Hitler.

    You take the microphone, saying “That attempt to exterminate Jews was then, and is now, the most evil atrocity in world history — even worse than Joseph Stalin’s gulag and executions!”

    In return for those words against such an obviously sick and heinous event in the 20th Century, several neo-Nazis come over to push you around, spit in your face, and yell at the top of their lungs “PURVEYOR OF HATE SPEECH !!!! GET OUT OF HERE BEFORE WE KNOCK ALL OF YOUR TEETH DOWN YOUR JEWISH THROAT !!!!”

    Do you see how the term “hate speech” leaves the consequences up to the interpretation of someone who may have supremacist and non-democratic ideas?

    • jihad3tracker says

      Jan 4, 2016 at 11:29 am

      And, of course, this small step for getting “hate” speech into the our minds, as somehow different from “free” speech, is a first step in the Left’s ultimate goal — eliminating truth about Islam from being spoken.

      Keith Ellison’s name on the resolution (along with the grand champions of current American political totalitarianism) shows that hidden goal clearly. We can always depend on a Democrat to use indirect methods when the agenda of silencing one’s opponents is at stake.

      NOTE: I was a Democrat for 25 voting years, until a few months ago, finally getting some sense knocked into my thick skull by Barry Hussein Soetoro’s extinguish-the-U.S. effort, and seeing candidates who are deliberately seditious (Hillary Clinton) or senior citizen clueless (Bernie Sanders).

  5. mortimer says

    Islam uses vigilantism to kill critics. This is Sharia law. There is no punishment in Sharia for the murderer of an apostate or blasphemer.

    Without the freedom to blaspheme Islam, we can be killed by Muslims with the approval of the Leftards who have adopted with them as ‘noble savages’ in order to bust up those who support Western civilization.

    Multiculturalism is a clever divide-and-rule strategy. Muslims think it’s an excellent way to insert their supremacist culture into Western countries. Multiculturalism is being turned into the state religion by H. Res. 569.

    The Dems want it to be illegal to criticize multicult. It’s a fake article of faith for them, because they only believe in the monoculture of cultural Marxism.

    Of course it’s an attack on our 1st amendment. I do believe Mr. Spencer is not exaggerating the threat to freedom of expression with this resolution. There’s a proverb, “Big things have small beginnings.” And it’s a very big thing when our legislators attack free speech. It’s not hateful or racist to be concerned about Islamic jihad against the infidel. I’m an infidel. And Islam’s highest morality and truth is allah’s word, and allah wants to enslave or kill me. Sorry, but I don’t feel at all like a bigot for not wanting that violence and hate in my country. These legislators aren’t trying to improve human relations with a sweeping condemnation of all bigotry and hate, instead they are trying to weaken our moral voice against Islam by legislating human emotions and free thought. They can pass a thousand laws, it will never alter my rational view of Islam as a violent and hateful ideology, nor will it mitigate my feelings of disgust and hate for for those evils. To me Keith Ellison is acting un-American and is a threat to democracy and western values. He apparently has no compunction about standing tall for an ideology that is in clear opposition to our most cherished beliefs. In my opinion Ellison is a Benedict Arnold. I feel embarrassed and worried that he is acting as my representative, he certainly doesn’t represent me.

  8. Jack Diamond says

    Jan 4, 2016 at 12:46 pm

    Resolved, That the House of Representatives—

    (1) expresses its condolences for the victims of anti-Muslim hate crimes;

    (2) steadfastly confirms its dedication to the rights and dignity of all its citizens of all faiths, beliefs, and cultures;

    (3) denounces in the strongest terms the increase of HATE SPEECH, INTIMIDATION, VIOLENCE, VANDALISM, ARSON, AND OTHER HATE CRIMES TARGETED against mosques, Muslims, or those perceived to be Muslim;

    (4) recognizes that the United States Muslim community has made countless positive contributions to United States society;

    (5) declares that the civil rights and civil liberties of all United States citizens, including Muslims in the United States, should be protected and preserved;

    (6) URGES LOCAL AND FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITIES TO WORK TO PREVENT HATE CRIMES; AND TO PROSECUTE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW THOSE PERPETRATORS OF HATE CRIMES; AND

    (7) reaffirms the inalienable right of every citizen to live without fear and intimidation, and to practice their freedom of faith.

    It couples “hate speech” (not defined) and intimidation (not defined) with crimes against persons or property– “and other hate crimes.” Then urges law enforcement to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law perpetrators of hate crimes, including one presumes, those found guilty of hate speech and intimidation. What will be the criteria? Look to the first part of the Resolution:

    >”Condemning violence, bigotry, and hateful rhetoric towards Muslims in the United States.” {Rhetoric!}

    >”Whereas the constitutional right to freedom of religious practice is a cherished United States value and violence or hate speech towards any United States community based on faith is in contravention of the Nation’s founding principles” {Islamic hate-rhetoric protected; free speech about Islam prosecuted}

    > “Whereas Muslim women who wear hijabs, headscarves, or other religious articles of clothing have been disproportionately targeted because of their religious clothing, articles, or observances” {bullies! not protectors of the rights of women against the oppressions of shari’a, or critics of the announcement of Islamic supremacism those symbols represent; have women-or men-wearing burqas ever hidden weapons in them, or been involved with terrorism wearing them? Yep}

    >”Whereas the rise of hateful and anti-Muslim speech, violence, and cultural ignorance plays into the false narrative spread by terrorist groups of Western hatred of Islam, and can encourage certain individuals to react in extreme and violent ways {free speech about Islam creates jihad, er, terrorism, not the texts and teachings of Islam–another provably false premise, like “the United States Muslim community has made countless positive contributions to United States society”}

    Muslims get to define hate speech, the deliberate intent to “defame” Islam or Muhammad and hurt the feelings of the Muslims. They get to define intimidation. The right of Muslims, however, to proclaim the hate message and intolerance and violence of the Qur’an and Sunnah toward non-Muslims, remains sacrosanct, preserved as part of their inalienable right to practice their faith. Just what we need, to tie both hands behind our backs in the face of a global Jihad. But then self-defense creates terrorism too.

      I URGE EVERY JIHADWATCHER HERE TO READ IT — AND PASS IT ALONG TO ALL YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND ESPECIALLY YOUR STATES FEDERAL AND LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIALS.

      The “Caliphate Curve”, as he has brilliantly concluded, has numerous Muslim entities attached at different places on the timeline — but they ALL have the same goal.

      And, by the way, in the half-dozen or so Glazov Gang videos I have watched, the same thought you had (about the interior-decoratedly-challenged room he inhabits) crossed my mind, but I conclude it is done for security reasons.

      Allah’s bloodthirsty psychopaths would LOVE to send a jihadist electrician to “inspect” the main house breaker panel, and matching whatever furnishings are behind those plastic wrappings would be a sure clue that Mr. G. has been found.

      PRESTO ! ! ! The next time he boots up his computer —- BOOM, BOOM, AND MORE BOOM. So, we will have to settle for photo-shopping around him the walls, rugs, Eames chairs, coffee table, and knick-knacks of a 1950 Connecticut bungalow, thus leaving our virtual pal alive and well.

      • Jack Diamond says

        Jan 4, 2016 at 3:50 pm

        Thanks j3t. Greenfield’s point, of course, is the Caliphate and full shari’a for all is the goal of every jihadist (and every pious Muslim). Not only the Muslim Brotherhood but the OIC, the largest Muslim organization in the world, is dedicated toward an eventual world Caliphate.

        The also “incomparable” High Fitzgerald addressed what we should be fighting against in a little “Iconoclast” piece back in 2014:

        Wednesday, 22 October 2014
        Why A Declaration Of War, Carefully-Drafted, Is Needed

        What is the Islamic State? It is an incomplete embodiment of, and a complete representative of, an idea: the idea is that of a Caliiphate, a unification under one rule of all Muslims. And in that Caliphate, the Sharia (Islamic law) will be imposed. The Sharia requires, among other things,  the permanent subjugation of all non-Muslims (or, if they are not Christians or Jews, like the Yazidis, or Hindus, or Buddhists, or atheists, should be killed) .

        The governments of the Western world, beginning with the American government, ought to declare War, not against the Islamic State alone, but against all those who give aid or comfort in any way to those who wish to bring about that Caliphate, or wish to create the conditions which will enable the spread of the imposition of the Sharia.

        Such a declaration of war, including the description of the enemy as being all those who work for the imposition of the Sharia, must be carefully crafted. Clever legislative drafters exist; they will know what to do.

        And then Article 3, Section 3, Clause 1 may be properly applied:
        “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court”.

    You are stepping on the Freedom of Speech (Ist Amendment.)

    What are you classifying as “hate speech”?

    Who is going to say what is hate speech? (Muslims Themselves?)

    How are you going to enforce it? (Muslim watchdogs?)

    How come you didn’t do this for the American Jew? They have more hate crimes against them than anybody else. Check into it HERE

    What about web sites such as mine?

    Muslims hate it because I broadcast news from around the world. If they want it shut it down, will you support that? And risk an American filing suit against you? What about the hundreds of other Anti-Jihad web sites? Are you going to silence them too?

    We have a constitution that protects the US citizens from acts such as this, from people like you. We will remember who you are.

    This rhetoric which is termed resolution is ignoring existing law that applies to all citizens
    and attempts to create special law for of course special purpose…Votes…and more.

    There is a calculated popular ploy being played on the minds of the general public…to cause some to be viewed as victims…when they are not…at the expense of others…who can then actually be made unsuspecting victims themselves…accomplished by people who make their living by claiming a cause for an invented victimization…when done using deceit and misinformation…many do respond thinking them to be a real cause…donating to these professional panhandlers…helping them grow in profits and increase in propaganda…which is how they keep up the good work.

    They find their little niche and will work it for all it is worth…often a lot.

    After reading the proposed law, it made me wonder what “Positive” Contribution any Muslim has ever made to this country. I know that a member of Christy’s government asked that very question and Christy fired him. Inquiring minds want to know.

      “This Sharia law business is crap. It’s just crazy. And I’m tired of dealing with the crazies.”-Gov. Chris Christie

      Christie was a big fan of Hamas supporter Imam Mohammed Qatanani when Homeland Security was trying to have him deported. Further, he appointed Qatanani’s lawyer, Sohail Mohammed, a Superior Court Judge–Mohammad who was a big defender of both the Holy Land Foundation and Sami Al-Arian as counsel to the American Muslim Union.

      “Qatanani arrived in the United States in 1996 to take over the ICPC, one of the largest mosques in the state. Housed in a former synagogue, the ICPC was founded in 1989 by Imam Mohammed El-Mezain, a convicted Hamas operative and fundraiser who publicly boasted of raising close to $2 million for the organization. In 1996, Qatanani arrived to succeed El-Mezain.

      Given the mosque’s affiliations, it’s not surprising that Qatanani also has a background littered with terrorist associations. He was arrested and convicted in Israel in 1993 as a self-admitted member of Hamas. As a Muslim Brotherhood operative, he had provided financial support for terrorist activities and continued to send large cash transfers to the West Bank once he arrived.

      These activities raised suspicions by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which in 2006 began attempts to deport Qatanani for failure to disclose his 1993 arrest in Israel for involvement with a terrorist group. Despite the charges for his terrorist activities and very real security concerns about the Hamas-affiliated imam, a spokesman for Qatanani, Aref Assaf, called the deportation effort “vindictive,” implying that the investigation was ill-conceived and baseless.

      Then, then-U.S. Attorney Chris Christie came to the aid of the imam. In response to a 2008 DHS court filing, Christie defended the imam as a “man of great goodwill” and sent his assistant U.S. attorney, Charles McKenna, to court to serve as a character witness. As a result of Christie’s efforts, Qatanani was granted legal permanent residency.

      “The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity, honors New Jersey’s Republican Governor Chris Christie in a new report on “Islamophobia” that was released on September 19.

      The new report, Legislating Fear: Islamophobia and its Impact in the United States, has a list of people and groups that CAIR praises for “their outstanding contributions to pushing back against Islamophobic trends in 2011 and 2012.”

      The second name on the list is N.J. Governor Chris Christie.”

      2010: After Derek Fenton burned three pages of a Koran at a 9/11 memorial ceremony, his employer, New Jersey Transit, got Christie’s approval to fire him. Christie vocally endorsed Fenton’s termination, even though this meant protecting Islam at the expense of Fenton’s constitutional right to free speech, declaring, “I don’t have any problem with him being fired.” The American Civil Liberties Union successfully represented Fenton to get his job back.

      2012: Revelations that the New York Police Department had conducted surveillance of Islamists in the New Jersey towns of Newark and New Brunswick prompted not gratitude but outrage from Christie,
      who termed the action arrogant and paranoid

    Sharia Islamic Blasphemy Law Advances In The Western Countries And Online: Twitter Now Shuts Down Freedom Of Speech WRT Criticism of Islam

    “It starts with keeping us from talking about it, keeping us from understanding what is going on here. Keeping us from planning and developing and executing strategies to counter this…And whether it is being done thru vehicles like Twitter, or…the UN Human Rights Council, or thru hate speech legislation…This is the classic slippery slope…We are much less able to defend ourselves…It is inside a lot of our civil society institutions…”

    Frank Gaffney on Breitbart News Daily: ‘Proto-caliphate’ Groups Seek to Quash Debate Over Islam
    by Jordan Schachtel 4 Jan 2016

    Frank Gaffney, the President of the Center for Security Policy, appeared on Breitbart News Daily on Monday to discuss his latest article for Breitbart News, titled, “Shariah-Compliant Twitter.”

    There has been a “concerted effort” by Islamic supremacist groups, particularly the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), described by Gaffney as a “proto-caliphate,” which he said tries to “prohibit worldwide what they call the ‘defamation of religion.’”

    But the OIC is not looking after all religions. Only Islam, the Center for Security Policy founder stressed.

    “This campaign has been aided and abetted by the Obama Administration. It gave rise to” a UN program called “UN Human Rights Council Resolution 1618,” he said.
    “It essentially calls on all the member nations to adopt restrictions consistent with what is really Sharia blasphemy law,” Gaffney asserted. “For instance, you must not give offense to Muslims, which brings us to Twitter.”

    Regarding the “there’s no punishment associated” part. One doesn’t throw the frog into boiling water but into cold water, and heats it up little by little. It starts with “you shouldn’t be hateful to this specific group” and eventually will turn into “well, we, the smart, enlightened and progressive folks are all on board about not being hateful to that specific group, but some of those dirty, imbecile peasants just don’t care, so how about we start punishing them for it?”. Sometimes, people need to be eased in, like when dressing a latex gimp suit.

    Muslims in the US Congress? How insane is that? They swear to uphold and protect the Constitution, then try to undermine it with crap like this Ellison muslim resolution. Muslims should never be allowed to pollute any level of govt in the USA! They are dedicated to turning the USA into another seventh century shithole like the ones they cane from. ‘There is NO more retrograde force on the earth than islam.’ -Churchill. You might as well invite scientologists and Hari Krishnas to come in to run the govt and subvert freedom and democracy.
