Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Saudi Arabia breaks off diplomatic relations with Iran

Jan 3, 2016 5:06 pm By Robert Spencer

“Jubeir said the attack in Tehran was in line with what he said were earlier Iranian assaults on foreign embassies there…” Yes, I recall one back in 1979. “…and with Iranian policies of destabilising the region by creating ‘terrorist cells’ in Saudi Arabia.” One wonders what the truth is behind that, if any. Is the Islamic Republic really creating “terrorist cells” in Saudi Arabia? Certainly it is active in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq, so it isn’t inconceivable. Audacious, but not inconceivable.

Incidentally, you may recall Adel al-Jubeir as the longtime Saudi Ambassador to the United States, during which he demonstrated that he was an extremely slick propagandist and generally wore Western dress. Now, as Minister of Foreign Affairs, he has returned to more authentically Saudi garb.

Adel al-Jubeir

“Saudi Arabia severs ties with Iran: official,” Reuters, January 3, 2016 (thanks to Steve):

RIYADH, Jan 3 (Reuters) – Saudi Arabia said on Sunday it had severed ties with Iran over the storming of the Saudi embassy in Tehran, in a worsening diplomatic crisis between the regional rivals following the kingdom’s execution of a prominent Shi’ite cleric.

Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir told a news conference Iran’s diplomatic mission and related entities in Saudi Arabia had been given 48 hours to leave. He said Riyadh would not allow the Islamic Republic to undermine the Sunni kingdom’s security.

Iranian protesters stormed the Saudi embassy in Tehran early on Sunday and Shi’ite Muslim Iran’s top leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, predicted “divine vengeance” for the execution of Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, an outspoken opponent of the kingdom’s ruling Al Saudi family.

Jubeir said the attack in Tehran was in line with what he said were earlier Iranian assaults on foreign embassies there and with Iranian policies of destabilising the region by creating “terrorist cells” in Saudi Arabia.

“The kingdom, in light of these realities, announces the cutting of diplomatic relations with Iran and requests the departure of delegates of diplomatic missions of the embassy and consulate and offices related to it within 48 hours. The ambassador has been summoned to notify them,” he said.

    …………………………..

Mutually upping the ante on internecine Muslim violence.

And the West has foolishly strengthened both of these thuggist Shari’ah states.

well, the US did not intervene in the Iraq Iran war. The Iranians are in a complex psychological situation. They will never forgiving the Arabs their brutal conquest of Sassanid Persia but they have to be grateful for Islam! And the Arabs, they can not forgive the Persians for a) Shiism, and b) being the real genius behind the Islamic Golden Age. The Arabs were also relegated back to their desert after the Turks could took over, leaving them with their initial conquest and Islam to be proud off. That is why they so fanatically are in the export of Salafism. What the west should do, concentrate on its own problems like stopping its spiritual, cultural and ethic suicide. ,

I wonder what is ‘devine’ about a regime built around the entrenched political interests of Mullahs who stole the reins of power in the early days of the Iranian revolution in the late ’70’s. Undoubtedly one of the biggest political con jobs of the 20th Century. A modern Iran, if it had been allowed to evolve, would have shown up the shabby backward Saudi establishment for what it is, but unfortunately the younger generation of Iranians, forced perpetually into submission, have to watch the hopeless parade of the old men of Iran, bantering about, throwing religious curses at an old adversary.

A few years ago there was a student uprising in Tehran and if there had been a decent President in the White House, they might have had the necessary support to overthow the Ayatollahs. In fact, these had a plane ready to fly them into exile, the situation was so dangerous for them.
As for oil, the U.S. has the possibility right now of being self sufficient in petroleum production due to fracking, which is not dangerous to the environment, as the usual environamentalist freaks try to say.

Your magic “youth of Iran” consists only of the urban upper classes — a miniscule percentage of the whole population and probably no more than 20% or so of the entire Iranian ‘youth’ population! I sure wish you pie in the sky fools would start catching on! You remind me of an idiot I knew who swore up and down during the Iranian hostage crisis that there was a Christian majority in Iran.

We do seem to be entering an era that is very dangerous. Rich oil wealth nation against each other with both sides having very advanced military capabilities.

Do Iran have nuclear weapons? Strange that suddenly America doesnt seem to want to go down the sanctions path any longer? Does that mean Iran has joined the nuclear club??

I wonder if these prophecies have any relevance??

    1. “A day shall be witnessed by My people,” their own traditions condemn them, “whereon there will have remained of Islám naught but a name, and of the Qur’án naught but a mere appearance. The doctors of that age shall be the most evil the world hath ever seen. Mischief hath proceeded from them, and on them it will recoil.”

    2. “At that hour His malediction shall descend upon you, and your curse shall afflict you, and your religion shall remain an empty word on your tongues. And when these signs appear amongst you, anticipate the day when the red-hot wind will have swept over you, or the day when ye will have been disfigured, or when stones will have rained upon you.”

Saudi Arabia and Iran busily and loudly accusing each other of evil-doing reminds me of the Troll fight in Tolkien’s “The Hobbit”, in the course of which the three evil man-eating Trolls called each other all sorts of true and applicable names in very loud voices.

In Tolkien’s fiction, of course, the Wizard Gandalf by mimicking the Trolls’ voices had helped things along (though of course he couldn’t have pulled it off, if the trolls were not already suspicious, aggressive and violent) [the aim being to keep them fighting until the sun came up, at which point they would turn into stone]..but in the case of Iran and Saudi Arabia they are doing it all to themselves, by themselves, because of the suspicion and aggression and conspiracy mentality and zero-sum mindset that arise organically and inevitably out of Islam.
