“Veterans, troubled by rhetoric, rally support of Muslims” reads the headline to a story in the print edition of today’s Boston Sunday Globe (online yesterday it was “Local veterans hold rally in support of Muslims.”) It described a group, Veterans for Peace, that felt it simply had to stand up on behalf of Muslims in Massachusetts whom, we were told, are feeling terribly put upon because of the “politics of fear” that unscrupulous politicians were using “as a wedge issue and they’re scaring people.” The veterans were there to stand up for Muslims, and among the speakers, the most remarkable one was Police Commissioner William Evans.
He spoke last, and with great feeling. He told the assembled crowd that “We’re all Muslims deep down. We all yearn for peace.” That astounding remark can be read in either of two ways: “it is because we’re all Muslims deep down that we all yearn for peace,” or, in the other conceivable reading, “it is because we all yearn for peace that we’re all Muslims deep down.”
But then what are we — what is Commissioner Evans — to make of all those Muslims who in the past 1350 years have made war on non-Muslims from the Atlantic to the East Indies, spreading Islam by conquering so many different lands, subjugating so many different kinds of Disbelievers, and making life so difficult for them that many, in order not to pay the crushing jizyah or endure other disabilities endured by dhimmis, converted to Islam? What are we to make, today, of the host of Muslim groups — the Muslim Brotherhood, the Taliban, the votaries of the Islamic State, first in Syria and Iraq, and now in Libya and Nigeria, and those less well-known — and of all the fire-breathing imams who from millions of pulpits denounce Disbelievers and remind Believers of their duty to be “harsh and angry” with them and make war on them, and adduce Qur’anic quotes that support that duty? Anything? Nothing?
Before speaking out and telling that crowd with such conviction that “we are all Muslims” because “we all want peace” (apparently being Christian would not have been sufficient), shouldn’t Police Commissioner Evans have read the Qur’an, and noted the 109 verses that mention making war on Infidels? Is it possible he relied on a Muslim colleague or friend who offered a simple deeply sincere assurance that “Islam means peace” and “anyone who says otherwise, is a troublemaker.” And besides, don’t we keep being told that Islam mean “peace”?
On the off-chance that Commissioner Evans overlooked a few verses from the Qur’an, and a few stories from the Hadith, the reading of which just might have caused him to temper his remark that “we Muslims all strive for peace” I’ve made a little florilegium below of relevant verses, with brief commentary, both shamelessly lifted from The Religion of Peace website (http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/pages/quran/violence.asp), for his easy reading. Perhaps, upon completing the task – it shouldn’t take more than five minutes — Commissioner Evans will want to revise his remark that “we’re all Muslims deep down. We all yearn for peace.”
Quran (2:191-193) – “And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah [disbelief or unrest] is worse than killing…
but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah [disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah] and worship is for Allah alone. But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zalimun (the polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.)” (Translation is from the Noble Quran) The verse prior to this (190) refers to “fighting for the cause of Allah those who fight you” leading some to believe that the entire passage refers to a defensive war in which Muslims are defending their homes and families. The historical context of this passage is not defensive warfare, however, since Muhammad and his Muslims had just relocated to Medina and were not under attack by their Meccan adversaries. In fact, the verses urge offensive warfare, in that Muslims are to drive Meccans out of their own city (which they later did). Verse 190 thus means to fight those who offer resistance to Allah’s rule (ie. Muslim conquest). The use of the word “persecution” by some Muslim translators is disingenuous (the actual Arabic words for persecution – “idtihad” – and oppression – a variation of “z-l-m” – do not appear in the verse). The word used instead, “fitna”, can mean disbelief, or the disorder that results from unbelief or temptation. This is certainly what is meant in this context since the violence is explicitly commissioned “until religion is for Allah” – ie. unbelievers desist in their unbelief.Quran (2:244) – “Then fight in the cause of Allah, and know that Allah Heareth and knoweth all things.”Quran (2:216) – “Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.” Not only does this verse establish that violence can be virtuous, but it also contradicts the myth that fighting is intended only in self-defense, since the audience was obviously not under attack at the time. From the Hadith, we know that this verse was narrated at a time that Muhammad was actually trying to motivate his people into raiding merchant caravans for loot.
Quran (3:56) – “As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help.”
Quran (3:151) – “Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority”. This speaks directly of polytheists, yet it also includes Christians, since they believe in the Trinity (ie. what Muhammad incorrectly believed to be ‘joining companions to Allah’).
Quran (4:74) – “Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward.” The martyrs of Islam are unlike the early Christians, who were led meekly to the slaughter. These Muslims are killed in battle as they attempt to inflict death and destruction for the cause of Allah. This is the theological basis for today’s suicide bombers.
Quran (4:76) – “Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah…”
Quran (4:89) – “They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks.
Quran (4:95) – “Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame, etc.), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred in grades those who strive hard and fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home).Unto each, Allah has promised good (Paradise), but Allah has preferred those who strive hard and fight, above those who sit (at home) by a huge reward ” This passage criticizes “peaceful” Muslims who do not join in the violence, letting them know that they are less worthy in Allah’s eyes. It also demolishes the modern myth that “Jihad” doesn’t mean holy war in the Quran, but rather a spiritual struggle. Not only is this Arabic word (mujahiduna) used in this passage, but it is clearly not referring to anything spiritual, since the physically disabled are given exemption. (The Hadith reveals the context of the passage to be in response to a blind man’s protest that he is unable to engage in Jihad, which would not make sense if it meant an internal struggle).Quran (4:104) – “And be not weak hearted in pursuit of the enemy; if you suffer pain, then surely they (too) suffer pain as you suffer pain…” Is pursuing an injured and retreating enemy really an act of self-defense?
Quran (5:33) – “The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement”
Quran (8:12) – “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them” No reasonable person would interpret this to mean a spiritual struggle.
Quran (8:15) – “O ye who believe! When ye meet those who disbelieve in battle, turn not your backs to them. (16)Whoso on that day turneth his back to them, unless maneuvering for battle or intent to join a company, he truly hath incurred wrath from Allah, and his habitation will be hell, a hapless journey’s end.”
Quran (8:39) – “And fight with them until there is no more fitna (disorder, unbelief) and religion is all for Allah” Some translations interpret “fitna” as “persecution”, but the traditional understanding of this word is not supported by the historical context (See notes for 2:193). The Meccans were simply refusing Muhammad access to their city during Haj. Other Muslims were allowed to travel there – just not as an armed group, since Muhammad had declared war on Mecca prior to his eviction. The Meccans were also acting in defense of their religion, since it was Muhammad’s intention to destroy their idols and establish Islam by force (which he later did). Hence the critical part of this verse is to fight until “religion is only for Allah”, meaning that the true justification of violence was the unbelief of the opposition. According to the Sira (Ibn Ishaq/Hisham 324) Muhammad further explains that “Allah must have no rivals.”
Quran (8:57) – “If thou comest on them in the war, deal with them so as to strike fear in those who are behind them, that haply they may remember.”
Quran (8:67) – “It is not for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war until he had made a great slaughter in the land…”
Quran (8:59-60) – “And let not those who disbelieve suppose that they can outstrip (Allah’s Purpose). Lo! they cannot escape. Make ready for them all thou canst of (armed) force and of horses tethered, that thereby ye may dismay the enemy of Allah and your enemy.”
Quran (8:65) – “O Prophet, exhort the believers to fight…”
Quran (9:5) – “So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captive and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them.” According to this verse, the best way of staying safe from Muslim violence is to convert to Islam (prayer (salat) and the poor tax (zakat) are among the religion’s Five Pillars). This popular claim that the Quran only inspires violence within the context of self-defense is seriously challenged by this passage as well, since the Muslims to whom it was written were obviously not under attack. Had they been, then there would have been no waiting period (earlier verses make it a duty for Muslims to fight in self-defense, even during the sacred months). The historical context is Meccaafter the idolaters were subjugated by Muhammad and posed no threat. Once the Muslims had power, they violently evicted those unbelievers who would not convert.
Quran (9:14) – “Fight against them so that Allah will punish them by your hands and disgrace them and give you victory over them and heal the breasts of a believing people.” Humiliating and hurting non-believers not only has the blessing of Allah, but it is ordered as a means of carrying out his punishment and even “healing” the hearts of Muslims.
Quran (9:20) – “Those who believe, and have left their homes and striven with their wealth and their lives in Allah’s way are of much greater worth in Allah’s sight. These are they who are triumphant.” The Arabic word interpreted as “striving” in this verse is the same root as “Jihad”. The context is obviously holy war.
Quran (9:29) – “Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.” “People of the Book” refers to Christians and Jews. According to this verse, they are to be violently subjugated, with the sole justification being their religious status. Verse 9:33 tells Muslims that Allah has charted them to make Islam “superior over all religions.”This chapter was one of the final “revelations” from Allah and it set in motion the tenacious military expansion, in which Muhammad’s companions managed to conquer two-thirds of the Christian world in the next 100 years. Islam is intended to dominate all other people and faiths.
Quran (9:30) – “And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!”
Quran (9:38-39) – “O ye who believe! what is the matter with you, that, when ye are asked to go forth in the cause of Allah, ye cling heavily to the earth? Do ye prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? But little is the comfort of this life, as compared with the Hereafter. Unless ye go forth, He will punish you with a grievous penalty, and put others in your place.” This is a warning to those who refuse to fight, that they will be punished with Hell.
Quran (9:41) – “Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the way of Allah! That is best for you if ye but knew.” See also the verse that follows (9:42) – “If there had been immediate gain (in sight), and the journey easy, they would (all) without doubt have followed thee, but the distance was long, (and weighed) on them” This contradicts the myth that Muslims are to fight only in self-defense, since the wording implies that battle will be waged a long distance from home (in another country and on Christian soil, in this case, according to the historians).
Quran (9:73) – “O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination.” Dehumanizing those who reject Islam, by reminding Muslims that unbelievers are merely firewood for Hell, makes it easier to justify slaughter. It also explains why today’s devout Muslims have little regard for those outside the faith.
Quran (9:88) – “But the Messenger, and those who believe with him, strive and fight with their wealth and their persons: for them are (all) good things: and it is they who will prosper.”
Quran (9:111) – “Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Quran: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.” How does the Quran define a true believer?
Quran (9:123) – “O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness.”
Quran (17:16) – “And when We wish to destroy a town, We send Our commandment to the people of it who lead easy lives, but they transgress therein; thus the word proves true against it, so We destroy it with utter destruction.” Note that the crime is moral transgression, and the punishment is “utter destruction.” (Before ordering the 9/11 attacks, Osama bin Laden first issued Americans an invitation to Islam).
Quran (18:65-81) – This parable lays the theological groundwork for honor killings, in which a family member is murdered because they brought shame to the family, either through apostasy or perceived moral indiscretion. The story (which is not found in any Jewish or Christian source) tells of Moses encountering a man with “special knowledge” who does things which don’t seem to make sense on the surface, but are then justified according to later explanation. One such action is to murder a youth for no apparent reason (74). However, the wise man later explains that it was feared that the boy would “grieve” his parents by “disobedience and ingratitude.” He was killed so that Allah could provide them a ‘better’ son. (Note: This is one reason why honor killing is sanctioned by Sharia. Reliance of the Traveler (Umdat al-Saliq) says that punishment for murder is not applicable when a parent or grandparent kills their offspring (o.1.1-2).)
Quran (21:44) – “We gave the good things of this life to these men and their fathers until the period grew long for them; See they not that We gradually reduce the land (in their control) from its outlying borders? Is it then they who will win?”
Quran (25:52) – “Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against them with the utmost strenuousness…” “Strive against” is Jihad – obviously not in the personal context. It’s also significant to point out that this is a Meccan verse.
Quran (33:60-62) – “If the hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is a disease, and the alarmists in the city do not cease, We verily shall urge thee on against them, then they will be your neighbors in it but a little while. Accursed, they will be seized wherever found and slain with a (fierce) slaughter.” This passage sanctions the slaughter (rendered “merciless” and “horrible murder” in other translations) against three groups: Hypocrites (Muslims who refuse to “fight in the way of Allah” (3:167) and hence don’t act as Muslims should), those with “diseased hearts” (which include Jews and Christians 5:51-52), and “alarmists” or “agitators who include those who merely speak out against Islam, according to Muhammad’s biographers. It is worth noting that the victims are to be sought out by Muslims, which is what today’s terrorists do. If this passage is meant merely to apply to the city of Medina, then it is unclear why it is included in Allah’s eternal word to Muslim generations.
Quran (47:3-4) – “Those who disbelieve follow falsehood, while those who believe follow the truth from their Lord… So, when you meet (in fight Jihad in Allah’s Cause), those who disbelieve smite at their necks till when you have killed and wounded many of them, then bind a bond firmly (on them, i.e. take them as captives)… If it had been Allah’s Will, He Himself could certainly have punished them (without you). But (He lets you fight), in order to test you, some with others. But those who are killed in the Way of Allah, He will never let their deeds be lost.” Those who reject Allah are to be killed in Jihad. The wounded are to be held captive for ransom. The only reason Allah doesn’t do the dirty work himself is to to test the faithfulness of Muslims. Those who kill pass the test.
Quran (47:35) – “Be not weary and faint-hearted, crying for peace, when ye should be uppermost(Shakir: “have the upper hand”) for Allah is with you,”
Quran (48:17) – “There is no blame for the blind, nor is there blame for the lame, nor is there blame for the sick (that they go not forth to war). And whoso obeyeth Allah and His messenger, He will make him enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow; and whoso turneth back, him will He punish with a painful doom.” Contemporary apologists sometimes claim that Jihad means ‘spiritual struggle.’ Is so, then why are the blind, lame and sick exempted? This verse also says that those who do not fight will suffer torment in hell.
Quran (48:29) – “Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard (ruthless) against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves” Islam is not about treating everyone equally. This verse tells Muslims that there are two very distinct standards that are applied based on religious status. Also the word used for ‘hard’ or ‘ruthless’ in this verse shares the same root as the word translated as ‘painful’ or severe’ to describe Hell in over 25 other verses including 65:10, 40:46 and 50:26..
Quran (61:4) – “Surely Allah loves those who fight in His cause” Religion of Peace, indeed! The verse explicitly refers to “rows” or “battle array,” meaning that it is speaking of physical conflict. This is followed by (61:9), which defines the “cause”: “He it is who has sent His Messenger (Mohammed) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam) to make it victorious over all religions even though the infidels may resist.” (See next verse, below). Infidels who resist Islamic rule are to be fought.
Quran (61:10-12) – “O You who believe! Shall I guide you to a commerce that will save you from a painful torment. That you believe in Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad), and that you strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives, that will be better for you, if you but know! (If you do so) He will forgive you your sins, and admit you into Gardens under which rivers flow, and pleasant dwelling in Gardens of’Adn- Eternity [‘Adn(Edn) Paradise], that is indeed the great success.” This verse refers to physical battle in order to make Islam victorious over other religions (see verse 9). It uses the Arabic root for the word Jihad.
Quran (66:9) – “O Prophet! Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be stern with them. Hell will be their home, a hapless journey’s end.” The root word of “Jihad” is used again here. The context is clearly holy war, and the scope of violence is broadened to include “hypocrites” – those who call themselves Muslims but do not act as such. Other verses calling Muslims to Jihad can be found here at AnsweringIslam.org
Hadith and Sira
Bukhari (52:177) – Allah’s Apostle said, “The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. “O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.”
Bukhari (52:256) – The Prophet… was asked whether it was permissible to attack the pagan warriors at night with the probability of exposing their women and children to danger. The Prophet replied, “They (i.e. women and children) are from them (i.e. pagans).” In this command, Muhammad establishes that it is permissible to kill non-combatants in the process of killing a perceived enemy. This provides justification for the many Islamic terror bombings.
Bukhari (52:65) – The Prophet said, ‘He who fights that Allah’s Word, Islam, should be superior, fights in Allah’s Cause. Muhammad’s words are the basis for offensive Jihad – spreading Islam by force. This is how it was understood by his companions, and by the terrorists of today.
Bukhari (52:220) – Allah’s Apostle said… ‘I have been made victorious with terror’
Abu Dawud (14:2526) – The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Three things are the roots of faith: to refrain from (killing) a person who utters, “There is no god but Allah” and not to declare him unbeliever whatever sin he commits, and not to excommunicate him from Islam for his any action; and jihad will be performed continuously since the day Allah sent me as a prophet until the day the last member of my community will fight with the Dajjal (Antichrist)
Abu Dawud (14:2527) – The Prophet said: Striving in the path of Allah (jihad) is incumbent on you along with every ruler, whether he is pious or impious
Muslim (1:33) – the Messenger of Allah said: I have been commanded to fight against people till they testify that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.
“We’re all Muslims deep down. We all yearn for peace.” Thus spake yesterday Boston Police Commissioner William Evans at a big mosque in Boston. I beg to differ.

Charles Bartel says
We’re all Muslims deep down!!! Boston? Huh? Does that mean we all carry pressure cooker bombs in our knapsacks to kill and mutilate innocent people on the street?
Red Bee says
I have come to the point where I don’t have to read some articles to write an appropriate comment; the titles alone are enough.
I bet Evans did not read a single page of the Koran like over 99%+ of the idiot ruling elite. (Click my name to read my webpage about it).
The world has gone mad, I am going to bed.
Greetings from the Netherlands,

Yes, the world has gone mad!!!! If only more people knew it, MAYBE, we could stop it!!

Western elites have read none of Islam’s foundational source texts, and yet, they present themselves as experts.
How does their TOTAL VOID of reading about Islam prepare them to speak intelligently about Islam? It doesn’t. They speak about Islam without any preparation. That is culpable negligence.
Police chiefs today must ALL learn the following teachings of Islam: 1) the jihad doctrine 2) the kafir doctrine 3) the misogyny doctrine 4) the vigilante doctrine 5) the revenge doctrine 6) the supremacism doctrine.
Practically all police chiefs are letting us down. Not just Commissioner Evans.

This commish is a major brown-noser and liar who ought to be driven from office with ridicule.

I have read all of these verses repeatedly but it looks like this “esteemed” police commissioner has not. Reading his remarks has made me grope for the gravol. “We were all muslims deep down” SPEAK FOR YOURSELF BUDDY! Why do tools like this always presume to know how all others think and feel? Why do tools like this spout garbage like this idiot Williams when it is almost certain they have NEVER cracked open a koran and read verses like those which are quoted above? No, all they will say is “have you ever known a muslim, or have you ever visited a mosque? Like you are ever going to get the truth about islam from doing that! Those muslims will just smile and tell you what they think you will want to hear and just hate and want to kill you deep down inside; if only you just CRACKED OPEN THAT KORAN and READ THOSE VERSES LIKE THOSE ABOVE! no, those tools like Williams are just too easiy duped and placated by the lies of the Religion of Pieces and they would slice the head off of dupes like Williams the first chance they got.

Commissioner Evans is ‘WINGING IT’ … speaking without preparation and without depth in the doctrines of POLITICAL Islam.
Not good enough, sir! Not good enough.
Mo says
“We’re all Muslims deep down. We all yearn for peace.”
This made me sick!
How DARE this man presume to speak for me?! I am most certainly NOT a follower of the death cult of Islam – a death cult started by a warlord, terrorist, murder, sex slave owner and child rapist, and that brings nothing but ignorance, hatred, oppression and death everywhere it is practiced in the world, even to its own followers!
How DARE he?
Havoc says
Bravo.
Peggy says
I don’t think he was speaking for us but himself and all followers of Satan. He has outed himself and we should record all these names so we don’t forget who is with us and who is against us.
I most definitely does know not speak for me either and Jesus knows that.
Still, just to make things clear the good people of Boston should sent him emails and cc the local newspaper as well.
Gary says
What amazes me, is how MILLIONS of people world-wide have chosen to follow this death cult.
EyeamhooEyam says
This cult has no desire for peace unless that peace is on their terms and peace on their terms means the end of our way of life. I, for one, reject this notion of peace that is only a masquerade for total subjugation.
The sooner we adopt an “it’s us or them” mentality, the better. Anyone foolish enough to believe that peace with these murdering rapists, baby-killers, pedophiles and Mohammad worshipers should be the first to die! Do you hear that Merkel, Cameron, Reker, Commisioner Evans and all the rest of Mohammad’s thralls and drudges?
It is inevitably us or them. The Quran demands it!

Sorry, Hugh, the granite block otherwise known as the head of Commr Evans will not absorbed any fact-based knowledge. This recent incident is not the only one where this bone-headed cop has stepped into it. But, being Massachusetts, he’s never called to account by those who matter. Lots of us know how PC-minded this guy has made the Boston Police. But a lot of the rank and file are with us, not Evans.
Havoc says
Uh, no we’re not. (“All Muslims deep down”)
Wellington says
“We’re all Muslims deep down. We all yearn for peace.”
I’m inclined to nominate this refrain by Boston Police Commissioner William Evans as the single most idiotic statement ever uttered by a kuffaar in the entire history of Western Civilization. Yes indeed, here it is a “winner.” There are many other candidates for this dubious distinction to be sure (e.g., Obama, and assuming he is a kuffaar which is not a certainty, at the UN back in 2012 saying that the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam), but I give the nod here to Commissioner Evans. Yes indeed, he’s “my guy,” my candidate, in this regard.
Will the doubling down by Western elites exculpating the totalitarian ideology which is Islam never end? Looks that way so far, doesn’t it? Damn shame.
Champ says
Yes, indeed, Wellington! Yeah he gets my vote, too …and you’re so funny your comment gave me a belly laugh 😀
Diane Harvey says
Stupid certainly, but probably not the winner. Think back all the way to this past January and the Mayor of Philly,
From Robert’s post,
http://www.jihadwatch.org/2016/01/philadelphia-mayor-shooting-of-cop-in-name-of-islam-had-nothing-to-do-with-being-a-muslim-or-following-the-islamic-faith
Edward Archer said he shot Philadelphia Police Officer Jesse Hartnett because “police bend laws that are contrary to the teachings of the Quran.” But Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney wants you to know that the shooting had “nothing to do with being a Muslim or following the Islamic faith.” I called this earlier today, writing here at Jihad Watch: “Not to worry. Obama and the Mayor of Philadelphia will find some way to explain that this has nothing to do with Islam.” And here we are.
Wellington says
A “fine contender,” Diane Harvey. Actually, since I was born in Philly back in the Mesozoic Era, I responded in early January to the new mayor who had made such idiotic and untrue statements about Islam. Essentially, I told him he was an ignoramus——and in great detail why he was. Stunningly, I received no reply from him. Can’t figure out why. Bet though he learned nothing from my communication to him or by any communication that didn’t agree with what he said. Yeah, he’s that type, just a typical politico with some tactical intelligence but with no real knowledge or any grand strategic impulse.
Ah, idiots in Boston. Idiots in Philly. Certainly plenty enough idiots in Washington, London, Berlin and Rome. No wonder the Islamic world is emboldened. It always is when fools aplenty are its chief “opposition” in the political realm—————–as now. Ah, where’s a Charles Martel or TR or Churchill nowadays? Few to none in sight I fear.
Oliver says
Wellington- your last two lines.
Bibi in Israel; to a lesser extent ( my view) Sisi in Egypt (he-Sisi is trying-perhaps not hard enough). But Bibi is reviled throughout the world (and by the US ELITE scumbags) but not the people.
By the way, from what I have heard, Trump is the favorite in Israel.
Perhaps that will be a wake up call to the US and elsewhere.
(About Trump- when there was the recent meeting in Davos, most western “leaders” or their minions were expecting (and apparently) hoping for a Shillewry victory. (Informal survey by WSJ at a seminar or symposium that they sponsored).

Perhaps another one (or two) of those pressure cooker bombs will make more “VETERANS” stand up for Muslims, and against politicians ( the few) who dare speak the truth. (Note, in my view, none are leading Democratic party candidates or their advisors).
the “VETERANS” are probably part of a Soros funded front group.

I’ve been studying BPD for a few years now and I can tell you that if you want to launch a terror attack and get away with it…Boston and environs is the place to pull the pin/trigger. The various government officials are corrupt beyond redemption, the law enforcement leaders are beholden to their corrupt bosses and the cop on the street, though many are true warriors, cannot be depended upon to do the right thing at the right time. Boston civilians, you’re on your own.

Commissioner Evans is a form of New Age feelgood wishful thinking.
Evans has not read the Koran, hadiths, Sira, canonical commentaries, Sharia law manuals, and yet, he promotes himself as an EXPERT on Islam! How can that be?
How does lack of reading and study on a topic make one an EXPERT? It doesn’t. It makes one UNACQUAINTED WITH THE TOPIC and UNINFORMED.
I am bold to say that Commissioner Evans is CULPABLY NEGLIGENT…perhaps CRIMINALLY NEGLIGENT in not learning about Islam’s source texts before speaking about Islam’s core doctrines!

And so it goes on. When it says Veterans Rally, I assumed that Police Commissioner William Evans was a war veteran – as in fighting in Afghanistan. But according to Wiki, he has little if any contact with Islam except the aftermath of the bombing in Boston. That is what really astounds me. Police Commissioner William Evans has little if any experience of Islam and yet he can say this mind numbing statement.
I can only assume it is a career move. I also assume that the Com thinks that such a statement is ‘healing’. God help us all.

What he should have said was: “We’re all cops deep down. We all yearn to write traffic tickets.”.
That would be the sort of modest statement in line with his experience and intellectual scope. As it is, he has embarrassed himself by his pretentious effort to punch too far above his weight (which appears to be about same as Barney Fife’s).

This is a commissioner of police? Ha! He is a disgrace to the uniform … which doesn’t fit by the way. He looks downright evil too. Kind of like Freddie Kruger. This guy just might be as dumb as he looks, but his expression exemplifies the spirit behind the invasion of Iraq. We honestly wanted them to be free, but let us also honestly analyze what’s in the hearts of Muslims & Islam.
What is freedom for Muslims, but more oppression? Only now we are connected to it in the most sarcastic, and self deluding way possible & it’s this delusional state which is the real loss, beyond the piles of bodies and money we payed for the lie.

No offence, SoCalMike but the article only has five short easy to read paragraphs followed by a separate section of Qur’an, Hadith and Sira verses and other articles have been much longer. Did you not read at least enough to see that most of the length were examples.
These verses exist as fact not fiction
Maybe you were attempting to be sarcastic and suggest that the Qur’an, Hadith and Sira are fictional ramblings of a lunatic. That would make sense.

I was thoroughly disgusted and disappointed by Veterans for Peace when reading about their support for Islam here. I have been getting their posts for over a year now and have enjoyed them. But this one shocked me! When admonishing them regarding their stance, I asked if ANY one of the admins for that page, or any of the responders in support of the proclamation, had ever read the Qur’an. I cited verses and said the VFP page should be ashamed of themselves because Islam is not a peaceful religion. I received MANY nasty comments in return, you know-bigot, racist, islamophobe, etc. It totally sucks to see this happen. A page that supposedly wants peace yet promotes a religion that would really like to see them all dead.
John Johness says
Interesting that pointing out a simple proposition .e. knowledge – that really is the basis of thinking – would result in nasty comments. I can’t quite understand this hostility to actually finding out. A friend of mine for many years went apoplectic when I brought up that IS may be the basis of Islam. Then I found out that his daughter ( Christian) had married a Muslim. I was too terrified to ask if she had to convert.
The same on many of the forums. OK you can understand the Lefty SJW and those who have some connection. But people who know nothing about it….. and as you point out, they get very angry.

It used to hurt my feelings! Hahahaha! I am over that and just keep tossing verses from the Qur’an at them. I have actually had a couple do a double back and say…it really SAYS that? Hahahaha! Oh, yeah baby!

Yes. Very odd.
I have a brother who is a red-hot militant atheist.
He supposedly thinks all religions equally bad. Yet in practice he bags Christianity and at every opportunity leaps to the defence of Islam and Muslims (mostly by using false moral equivalence and the “tinyminorityofextremists” meme).
Whilst openly – even proudly – declaring that he hasn’t read – and does not *intend* to read – the holy books of *either* Christianity *or* Islam. Now, he has *some* awareness – acquired in his preteen years – of the content of the Christian scriptures. He couldn’t avoid that, having had a well-instructed Christian mother and some well-instructed Christian siblings. But he has NO awareness – no knowledge whatsoever – of the content, deeply malevolent, of the Islamic trilogy – Quran, Sira, Hadiths.
I pointed out to him on one occasion that back in the day it was those who had *read* Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” or Marx’s “Das Kapital” and “The Communist Manifesto” who were NOT blindsided by what the Nazis or the Communists did as soon as they had the power to do it. And i stated that in my opinion a refusal to become aware of what was in the Quran and other Islamic texts could be just as dangerous as was, back in the day, a wilful refusal to find out what was in Mein Kampf… and having found out, to take it *seriously*. If your declared Enemy writes a book containing his game plan it is sheer stupidity to refuse to even open it and take a look.
But he’s still refusing to listen, and blindly assuming that *whenever* people criticise Islam or express worry about Muslims they are doing so out of ignorant prejudice.
And as I said, he’s a militant atheist. Busy denying that Islam and Muslims might in any real sense represent a clear and real danger to him, to his country, to all other infidel persons and countries. Refusing to even think about the testament of 1400 years of jihad history or examine for himself the plain content of the Islamic texts.
It’s enough to drive you mad, dealing with people like this …who are otherwise in many ways nice, intelligent people. (He’s my brother. My little baby brother, he’s hard-working and smart and honest and just became the proud father of a cute little baby. And … it is *impossible* to get through this seemingly reflexive defence of Islam – and *refusal* to take any interest in learning the basic facts about Islam – that seems to have been welded into his brain, somewhere along the way.)
Carolyne says
I am an atheist, but I know that all religions are not equal. I admire true Christians who actually live their beliefs and try to practice them. However, I do not feel I need to have a superior being of some kind to make me try to be a good and decent person with the threat of hell if I don’t. However, there is nothing to admire in Islam. It is a hateful, misogynist cult who’s only wish is to destroy all peace and kindness in the human psyche and replace it with hate and fear.
They force their beliefs on others at the point of a sword. Christianity has changed over the centuries and while there is a violent history, it is now basically a religion of peace as are other religions. Islam is not one of them.
I never argue for my point of view as a religious matter, but I do argue that Islam is not peaceful and needs to be exterminated. And if we don’t do it now, our children will be faced with a task which might be impossible in a few years.
LR says
To ‘dumbledoresarmy’,
In regards to your posting:
We in the West are familiar with our own history, the history of Christianities cruelties, which makes it easier to feel like we can criticise it. Islam on the other hand is often foreign to most of us, so, many do not feel comfortable criticizing it. And as you know, some people are just more resistant to listening to things they don’t agree with, don’t understand, or feel overwhelmed by. And after all, it is soooooo much more comfortable to actually think it’s just a few bad apples, especially when you want to feel the good in the world being a new dad! It’s also easier since we are currently, despite the Boston bombings, relatively safe, with all the terrorism happening far away.
Personally, I think it’s important to keep it simple. Forget about approaching some people with what is in the Quran. You have to start with where they are at. What might he be open to listening to, or reading on his own, if anything? Hirsi Ali, or some other similar person?
I think this video is a good basic one to introduce people to what the problem is. It’s brief, concise and to the point.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pSPvnFDDQHk
(Whether the problem is defined as fanatical/extremist Islam, as Raheel defines it here, or the whole of Islam is another debate. I sure am glad there are Muslims out there like Raheel, courageous enough to actually face death threats within their own religion. That’s pretty gutsy).
This is a good, easy article by A. Hirsi Ali to give to people IMHO.

It is amazing that people, contributing to this blog can be so naive. Does really any of you believe that a police commissioner thinks that islam is a religion of peace? Someone who gets far more information on the subject, then any of us. He knows very well that islam is not a religion of peace. He doesn’t need to study koran or hadifs to know that. He knows the violence, perpetrated or conspired by moslems, with which he has to deal daily, has roots in islam. I wish he was stupid and ignorant, but he is worse then that.

David Kupelian’s Book: The Marketing of Evil
Veteran journalist David Kupelian…reveals how much of what Americans once almost universally abhorred has been packaged, perfumed, gift-wrapped and sold as though it had great value. Highly skilled marketers, playing on deeply felt national values of fairness, generosity and tolerance, have persuaded us to embrace as enlightened and noble that which generations since America’s Founding regarded as grossly self- destructive – in a word, evil

Working in different countries with very different cultures, history, languages and tradition, I, first to my surprise, noticed obvious similarities between people in my profession. That lead me to a conclusion that in choosing profession people are following certain qualitiez they possess. In some professions it is obvious (music, art, military), but in some not so. Some professions, to succeed one has to possess qualities, which in normal life usually considered to be negative. It is especially prominent now, during presidential campaign, when candidates are criticized for something, which actually makes them a successful polititian. Over the years, what people do also shapes their personality and if the combination is correct, people become successful in their careers.
This person is a public servant. As such, he will be successful if he doesn’t mind to “lick” certain part of anatomy of his superiors. He cannot have strong principles and opinions (they can be changed easily with a new boss). He should possess “a killer instinct” toward his colleagues and friends. He shouldn’t know more then just a superficial opinions about any subject. She should be unforgiving to his colleagues (in victory – revenge). He should aggree with everyone on personal level and not tolook intimidating. Everything about him expressed in colors is gray. He should be smart and able to “read people”. Consequences of his actions on other peole are totally irrelevant to him. If another bomb kills several people, it is not a tragedy, as long as it advances his career. Decent, stupid, naive or ignorant people don’t become police commissioners..

Before speaking out … shouldn’t Police Commissioner Evans have read the Qur’an, and noted the 109 verses that mention making war on Infidels?
PC Evans (pun intended) should have gotten better advice–or some, if none–about what he should have said. For example, he could have said, “Deep down, we all are the same as those Muslims who want peace.” Of course, he is assuming that all of us want peace–some of us want the peace that will follow the elimination of those who want us all to experience violent, gruesome deaths. This would be an advanced concept for PC Evans.

As a tax payer in Boston, I can say Evans is over matched when dealing with political issues. He was out on the streets during Occupy Boston accommodating the squatters. At Palestinian marches he doesn’t not enforce existing laws. At conservative demonstrations he lets counter demonstrators interfere with the excise of free speech. He is dangerously naive. It was only in June that the Boston Police force had to shoot a jihadist on the streets of Boston. The target list for this jihadist included the BPD itself and included a well know anti-jihadist, pro-free speech advocate from New York. Yet here he is saying we are all Muslims. Its certainly a speech to remember. The list of terrorist activity in Boston is long, 911 plans left Login Airport, the Marathon (Evans is an avid Marathoner), and a number other incidents involving the Boston Mosque. Its pathetic, yet I am sure he will be rewarded by his Mayor and the progressives that dominate this region.

Demsci says
Commissioner William Evans doesn’t seem to know or care to know much about Islam; Quran-Hadiths-Sira. He therefore has no inkling and refuses to get one, he refuses to get educated on this,
Because he and alas, a majority of Western Citizens, focus only on: Total Freedom of Religion, making discriminating treatment of Islam or Muslims totally (and I MEAN totally) unthinkable. And on the consequences of “hatespeech”, directed at Islam, Muslims, which they seem to fear above all else.
Oh, these “William Evanses”, “Ben Afflecks” do see the so-called “radicals”, but they assume that these interpret Islam WRONG, TWISTED. But we think it is the radicals who are the better interpreters of Islam, not the so-called peaceful majority of Muslims.
But what Muslims, William Evanses, Ben Afflecks have in common is that they regard Islam; Quran-AHadith-Sira (QAS) as MONO-Interpretable. And as something beneficial, neutral or mysterious, not something as bad as ISIS makes of it.
They object so strongly against the “painting of all of Islam and all Muslims with one brush” that they refuse to compromise, and even to listen and think further. Hence they ignore the monumental agressions and hate from Muslims troughout the centuries. They, rather desperately, berate their own forbears or politicians for being “just the same”.
Whereas many very Islam-wise people ALSO regard Islam-QAS as MONO-interpretable and if only interpreted in the one right way leading to what ISIS, HAMAS, Iran are doing.
And the 2nd group points to the overwhelming number of CLEAR and aggressive texts in QAS, as Hugh does above.
But then the Islam-apologists come and, ignoring or twisting these passages, then focus on other, according to them also very clear, verses that CONTRADICT the ones Hugh shows.
But Christoph Luxenburg told us that fully 1 fifth of QAS is “gibberish”, something that not really makes sense.
So, in the total of QAS we have 3 categories; The UNCLEAR verses, of necessity multi-interpretable if interpretable at all, and 2 sets opposing CLEAR verses. And all can pick and choose, cherrypick.
And while for both sides SOME verses are totally CLEAR, their very contradiction makes the QAS still, in total, UNCLEAR. And AMBIGUOUS, prone to cherry-picking.
And this conclusion should not be confused with HOW a majority of Muslims do or do not interpret Islam. For it might well be a totally disgusting catastrophic high number that interprets Islam in a terrible way for us Westerners, including the “William Evans-fools”.
But the advantage
of rightly calling QAS Multi-interpretable, and NOT mono-interpretable like both the William Evanses AND so many counterjihadists uphold, only with directly opposite conclusions,
seems to me that:
finally we can change the mind of the William Evanses and a 51 % majority of Westerners that there is something VERY WRONG with Islam, while their rocksteady commitment toward “not painting all Islam and all Muslims with one brush” can also be honoured.
And so We may distinguish between good parts and bad parts of both Islam and Muslims. And we may proceed acting in our defense, and hopefully with a democratic majority and a democratic minority among Muslims (which the 51 % Western majority simply won’t do without).
John Dooley says
Having known Mousy and the rest of the Evans family nearly all my life, I can assure you that these are not his beliefs. In his ongoing battle to inject diversity into aspect of Boston society, Mayor Marty Walsh has undertaken a campaign to fool the populace into believing that everyone is a great person; criminals merely struggle to understand the law; and that there aren’t hundreds of millions of Muslims who want nothing more than to see the suffering and death of all infidels.
As the police commissioner Bill Evans is responsible for the officers who serve under his command. After witnessing the intractable public union contract negotiations presided over by our previous mayor, Mousy is doing what he thinks is best for the force as a whole. He’s aced every police exam he’s taken, so he’s certainly not the naive fool portrayed in this piece.
