“PA Passes Women Protection Bill; Cleric Terms It Contrary To Islamic Sharia,” Geo.TV, February 24, 2016 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
KARACHI/LAHORE: A prominent cleric in Pakistan termed the “Protection of Women against violence Bill 2015”, passed by the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday, in contradiction to the Islamic Sharia and criticized the Sharif brothers for allegedly pushing the country towards ‘secularism’.
The bill was adopted by the provincial assembly on Wednesday, making all crimes against the women an offence including domestic violence, emotional, psychological and economic abuse, verbal abuse, stalking, abetment of an offence, and cyber crimes.
According to the new law, a toll-free number (UAN) will also be introduced to receive complaints while a district protection committee will be setup to investigate women’s complaints in this regard.
Reacting to the development, Chief of Jamia Binoria International Mufti Muhammad Naeem said in a statement that the bill was contrary to teachings of Holy Quran and Sunnah.
Terming the bill a bid to suppress men at the hands of women, he said violence against women can be controlled by giving them rights allocated for them in the Sharia.
Mufti Naeem strongly opposed the bill and expressed his concerns over it calling it a ‘tragedy’.
“Rulers under their mental slavery of the West are forgetting their social values also,” he remarked in the statement….
Violence against women has been criminalized in Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) which is a federal law. Acts of domestic violence are also an offence under various sections of PPC, and punishments for these have been prescribed in this federal law too.

Angemon, there’s nothing taboo about pious Muslims declaring things–and each other–Takfir. The only taboo thing about Takfir is the things declared Takfir. Takfir itself is a core concept of Islam, and is the reason Muslims are so busy slaughtering each other.

These women who had to undergo genital mutilation n sacrificed so much to marry these evil men who wanted to beat them just to show their manhood as following their religious doctrines. Note that he characterizes any move against such violence as “a bid to suppress men at the hands of women”. In other words, preventing men from mutilating women, from engaging in pedophilia, from forced marriage, from marital rape, from polygamy, from wife beating, and from “Honor Killing” is taking away *theri* “rights” under this foul creed.

The quoted 4:34 in the first paragraph is not correct. Abdel Haleem translated as, “Husbands should take good care of their wives, with [the bounties] God has given to some more than others and with what they spend out of their own money”. The Study Quran translated as, “Men are the upholders and maintainers of women by virtue of that in which God has favored some of them above others and by virtue of their spending from their wealth.”
These two translations, generally accepted as more accurate then prior translations convey a different meaning than the translation in the first paragraph which says, “Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them.”
