Over at PJ Media I discuss the imminent arrival of the long-awaited Muslim situation comedy:
Here it is at last: the long-desired Muslim family situation comedy that is going to cure “Islamophobia” by showing racist, ignorant, xenophobic Americans that, hey, Muslims are just like us. Deadline Hollywood reported last week:
Fox has given a late pilot order to Chad: An American Boy, a single-camera Middle Eastern family comedy co-created by and starring Saturday Night Live alumna Nasim Pedrad and directed by Jason Winer.…
[A] 14-year-old boy (Pedrad) in the throes of adolescence is tasked with being the man of the house, which leaves him with all the responsibilities of being an adult without any of the perks.
Pedrad is actually a 34-year-old woman. She made the intention of the show abundantly clear:
I’m thrilled to be able to portray a Middle Eastern family not working for or against Jack Bauer on network TV.
This show has been a long time coming. Katie Couric called for it during the Ground Zero Mosque controversy, saying that America needed a Muslim Cosby Show. Now that Bill Cosby is so resoundingly discredited, Reza Aslan, with his typical clumsiness, called for a Muslim All in the Family, apparently not realizing that the central character of that show was held up as a bigoted object of ridicule.
But clearly both calls meant the same thing: if Americans could just see Muslims outside of the context of jihad terrorism, they would love them, and “Islamophobia” would evanesce.
Then Barack Obama said last week at the Islamic Society of Baltimore:
Our TV shows should have Muslim characters that are unrelated to national security.
The fallacy of this reasoning? When The Cosby Show aired, there were no international black terror groups mounting terror attacks in the U.S. and around the world, boasting of their imminent conquest of the country. The suspicion that Americans have of Islam comes from jihad terror and Islamic supremacism, not from racism and bigotry.
Americans know this distinction despite the best efforts of Couric, Aslan, and others to obscure it, to make people feel guilt for opposing jihad terror. Some slick TV show depicting funny, warm, attractive, cuddly Muslims would not end jihad terror, or blunt concern about it — it would only serve to further the idea that resisting jihad violence was somehow “bigoted.”
Nonetheless, now we have it. Will it work? Will it make Americans drop their concerns about jihad terror? Unlikely. The whole idea that Muslims are threatened, harassed, and discriminated against in the U.S. is a creation of the Islamic advocacy industry, which knows well how well it pays to be a victim in the U.S. today.
Those groups — Hamas-linked CAIR, ISNA, MPAC, and the rest — will still need to play the victimhood game even while this sitcom is running, and after its run has ended. So we will continue to see fake hate crimes and claims of discrimination, and the failure of this show to stem the tide of “Islamophobia” will be touted as a reason why Muslims deserve special privileges and the further weakening of counter-terror measures.
Meanwhile, how a 34-year-old woman is going to be convincing playing a 14-year-old boy is an open question, but whether or not Nasim Pedrad can pull it off, it is noteworthy that this Muslim sitcom will feature a 14-year-old boy who has to serve as the man of the house. That suggests that it will not feature the individual who is the center and dominant figure of most real Muslim families: an adult male.
That makes it likely that the show will not depict in any remotely realistic manner the way women are treated in observant Muslim homes….

Will they insert the laugh track when the boy has to honor kill his sister for wearing jeans and kissing american boys?

“Will they insert the laugh track when the boy has to honor kill his sister for wearing jeans and kissing american boys?” Great jab!
See the excellent documentary “Leaving Islam”, which has nothing to do with this comment, but I couldn’t find the video that did.

I wonder how long it will take before the death threats will come in… Citizen Khan is a comedy in the UK about a Pakistani family. Soon after the first episodes the death threats started rolling in.
I recall American Muslims and reading an interview with the production team. American Muslims was suppose to tackle “Islamophobia”. Instead the producers had a hard time finding Muslims who were “normal” enough to appear on the show. They felt they were “too conservative, too extreme”. Of course that small fact was in small print only.

Episode 1: A husband and wife sitcom between a typical 52 year old muslim man and his 6 year old wife. The Husband is complaining for comedic effect that he can’t have sex with a 6 year old. He has so much sexual energy and the goat’s milk has now turned sour from overuse. His young wife tells him to wait another three years or to marry another second wife who is 9 years old…
Episode 2: Transforming into a neighbourhood sitcom between a Muslim man and his Jewish, Christian, Hindu and Atheist neighbours. The Muslim man gets so frustrated (for comedic effect) at his neighbours speaking their minds about everyone else’s sectarian stance that he paints his house with the name ‘House of Islam’ and everyone else’s houses with the names ‘House of War’ and proceeds to use violence and intimidation against his neighbours, kills their pet dogs and assaults their wives and daughters. When the neighbours shame him in public for his behaviour he claims to be persecuted and demands financial compensation.
Episode 3: The Muslim man invites his cousins over for the holidays and they proceed to draw their own blood with swords and make an awful racket and when the neighbours start to complain the cousins all group together to turn the neighbourhood into a sharia controlled zone. The Atheist invites the Hindu, the Buddhist and the Christian over for a party with bacon and alcohol. He doesn’t bother inviting the Muslims over to join in. The Muslim man feels dishonoured and persecuted and he and his cousins go out and cause massive property damage at everyone’s houses and begin looting their neighbours’ homes.
Episode 4: The Muslim Man’s wife has finally reached the age of 18. “I divorce you, I divorce you, I divorce you” he says and goes and buys a sex slave and new wife with the last of the money he earned from looting his neighbours places over the years. Hearing this, the cousins all come back and proceed to gang rape the ex-wife and then murder her for “adultery”. And they all lived happily ever after…

How about an Arab Christian family that was forced to flee for their lives from Lebanon 20-plus years ago because of Muslim conquest? (Like my neighbors.)
Oh wait, they just blend in as Americans today without nary a peep of controversy, or demand to acknowledge their supremacy and that of their god. (All of man’s gods are man-made.)

I have a feeling this is going to backfire for FOX. One big terror attack and that show will lose all its “funny. ” I give it about six weeks.
mortimer says
The death threats are going to pour in and no insurer will touch the show after that.
gravenimage says
And the death threats won’t be from “Islamophobes”–just from pious Muslims. This show–not matter its Taqiyya intent–is bound to offend them.

“..it will not feature the individual who is the center and dominant figure of most real Muslim families: an adult male.”
The best possible point.
Panmelia says
It’s already a farce with a 34 year old woman playing a 14 year old boy. Apart from being unrealistic, it will enrage muslim men who feel it’s an unforgivable insult to have a female usurp the identity of a male when it’s obvious that the former is so inferior to the latter.
Pedrad had better organise high level personal security without delay. Same goes for everyone else involved in the programme.
Perhaps Fox doesn’t realise that muslims don’t have much sense of humour, unless they’re falling about laughing as they watch prisoners of ISIL being beheaded. This edifying spectacle was shown on Channel 4 in the UK a few weeks ago in a documentary called “The jihadists next door”. To add to the fun, the daesh supporters were eating a takeaway as they watched and slobbering over their food. Hilarious!!
Veritas says
They will no doubt follow the example of the British soap Eastenders. Most of their Muslim characters are played by Hindus.
You can imagine a dearth of plots. No social gatherings in bars, no pork products, everybody off on a Friday, people “just going out for a while to pray”, and that doesn’t include clothing issues. Any moderate Muslim playing such a role might also find themselves under suspicion from the religious ones.
As an example of a real Muslim sitcom, just have a look at what passes for entertainment in the Middle East.
mortimer says
The show’s premise is false because MUSLIMS ARE NOT ‘just like us’. In fact, their thinking is very different.
‘We’ don’t accept the following backward doctrines, but Muslims do:
1 No Golden Rule 2 No free speech 3 No democracy 4 Jihad – holy war of world conquest 5 Honour killings 6 Taqiyya – sacred lying 7 Taqlid – group think 8 Misogyny – repression of women 9 Rape of kafirs as jihad prizes 10 Genocide 11 Ethnic cleansing 12 Anti-Semitism 13 Al-Walaa wal-Baraa – Islamic apartheid 14 Torture 15 Plundering 16 Cruel and unusual punishments 17 Backwardness – stagnation 18 Violence against women 19 Slavery 20 Discriminatory Sharia law 21 Hatred of the arts 22 Pedophilia disguised as child marriage 23 Fifty generations of cousin marriage and genetic defects 24 Cruelty to animals 25 Extortion tax to humiliate disbelievers 26 No historic basis 27 Obscurantist rejection of reason 28 FGM 29 Arab racism 30 Theocratic totalitarianism 31 Vigilantism 32 Supremacism
ECAW says
But apart from all that it should be a hoot.
mortimer says
Robert Spencer wrote: the show “will not feature the individual who is the center and dominant figure of most real Muslim families: an adult male”.
The Islamic power issue is precisely why the show is deceptive. A 14-year-old boy who is constantly ignored, rather than a grownup and more threatening Muslim male who understands the Islamic honor-killing doctrine, the doctrinal hatred of kafirs and Islam’s canonical apartheid society.
In fact, Mohammedans believe in the MASTER RELIGION THEORY which gives them the right of political supremacism…just as Nazis believed in the MASTER RACE THEORY.
Of course, ARAB Muslims also believe in the ARAB MASTER RACE THEORY in addition to the MASTER RELIGION THEORY. Arab Mohammedans are double bigots.
atheist kufar says
It will flop guaranteed. The target audience is too small 2% to 3%, the actors are unknown and there is no humor in Islam. Its a sitcom with no humor and no fun. I wonder what the odds for success are but they can’t be good. The people at fox can’t be too bright either and they are infected with PC.I wouldn’t sweat this one two much. Just be aware of all the taqya and white washing of Islam.
mortimer says
Nasim Pedrad will probably have to go into hiding after the show airs a few times.
topposter says
They already tried that in Canada with “Little Mosque on the Prairie”. The show was a huge flop despite all the publicity, and quietly went off the air.
bostongal912 says
They also ( the US) with a reality show about a Muslim family! That went off the air too!
mortimer says
In November 2011, TLC network premiered a series of 30 shows trying to depict the ‘diversity’ of different Muslims in the US and that ‘we are all living similar daily lives’…even if we aren’t living similar lives at all.
Only 8 shows (out of 30) were made before sponsors withdrew their support and the plug was pulled. In all, 65 companies removed their advertising from the series.
American public opinion against ‘All American Muslim’ exploded when Americans discovered that Muslims hate dogs.
GLibtard propaganda tried and failed to convince Americans to love ideas that they hate.

Fortunately for me, my TV has an “OFF” button!!! I’ve been watching less and less television, period, and as soon as American Idol is over this year, I’ll be swearing off that channel entirely. There are too many uplifting things to be watching or listening to for me to waste time with them.

Don’t worry, when ratings drop, George Clooney will take over the lead role as their long lost cutsie cousin and prove that they really are ‘just like us’.

I’m trying to recall all the TV shows based expressly on a ‘major religion’ (not Islam) in the past. Where the religion is the *star* as opposed to the actors.
I’m not recalling many: “The Flying Nun”, perhaps?
In Canada, there was ‘Little Mosque on the Prairie’ which was pretty wretched in its premise.

The BBC has a long running radio sitcom called the Archers “An everyday story of countryfolk”. Isn’t it about time 1000 illegal immigrants were dumped on the village and the subtitle changed to “An everyday story of jihadi folk”?

Isn’t there something Haram about a bare-armed woman cross-dressing as a boy? Of course there won’t be any trouble because, in the US, all Muslims are “moderate”.
Did they budget for security on the set? Will Reza Aslan get a cameo heartthrob role? I can hardly wait.

‘Cross-dressing’ … bingo! That’s good for a fatwa because cross-dressing is haram.

Hi. There was a comedy series in the UK called ‘Never mind the quality, feel the width’, which was about two tailors, one Catholic (Irish I recall) and one Jewish (East London I think).
But the actors were the stars, and the show poked fun at religious prejudice in general.
Imagine trying to make a show like that today, with a muzzie and a.another!
Fatwas all round.

Bull shit – that video is reprehensible. Cosby was a skilled manipulator who had an instinct for choosing victims. There is no conspiracy against him. Furthermore, your comment is completely off topic.

You obviously didn’t watch the video. The majority of Cosby’s accusers have been thoroughly, and completely discredited. The comment is apropos of R. Spencer comment about Cosby IN THIS POST.
Here is another video covering much of the same material.
I don’t mind people disagreeing with me, but this kind of ignorance has no place here. I am quite willing to go to the mat with you on this. You simply do not know what you are talking about.

There is absolutely no reason why Jihad Watch should be a party to Gloria Allred’s kangaroo court of public opinion. Both Spencer and Geller constantly suffer from this very thing. I repeat what I said before about people like billybob, and More Ham Head not knowing what they are talking about, and that they are engaging in borrowed opinions.
I would not take this position if I didn’t have plenty to back myself up with, and I’m not leaving comments and then running away.

Robert Spencer in PJ Media: Fox to cure “Islamophobia” with Muslim sitcom
………………….
What twaddle. This doesn’t address the ubiquity of Jihad terror like the homicidal attack in San Bernardino just a couple of months ago.
But this bs is rife. In next month’s Esquire magazine, there is a story on “The Real Muslims of Irving, Texas”.
Look–they use leaf blowers! Look, they…uh…well, they really don’t have much else.
There is, of course, a sneering reference to the Garland Draw Muhammed show, but the author doesn’t appear to either understand what is was about, *nor* that it was the target of a Jihad terror attack.
The author admits he understands nothing about Muslims, and seems proud of his ignorance.
But he does note that his father told him to be careful in Texas, because “they especially don’t like Californians”. Right. Funny, then, that it wasn’t Texans who were poised to shoot up the show in Garland…
Jay Boo says
Aha!
Why not a 14-year-old girl?
Her Muslim Brothers and parents would have to murder her for not wearing a veil.

I’ve heard this lame argument before from Dean Obdeillah, an alleged comedian whom yahoo uses occasionally. His belief also was that’s where Americans get their bad view of muslims, from the characters they portray on TV. When in reality, Americans dislike islam because of the news we read and see like the atrocities of Boko Haram who have killed 20,000 people as well as selling young women and girls into sexual slavery. We’ve seen the beheadings and mass executions committed by ISIS. Here n the US we have experienced 9/11, the Boston bombing and San Bernardino. We’ve seen destruction caused by this alleged “religion of peace” and this is what has caused the contempt and disdain of this “religion” which is actually a poisonous ideology as David Cameron so aptly described it.
Panmelia says
Mary, don’t be misled by anything David CaMORON appeared to say. He is our Prime Minister and as slippery as a buttered piglet.
He did not describe ISLAM, the religion, as a ‘poisonous ideology’. In fact, he has referred to islam as the ‘religion of peace’ so many times that I got sickened off and emailed telling him he didn’t know what he was talking about and advising him to study the koran before he spouted such rubbish.
What he described as a ‘poisonous ideology’ was actually islamISM – the toxic tosh that inspires idiots to join daesh (ISIS, ISIL) in order to conquer countries that are already muslim, but not islamic enough. The next step (in their dreams) is to conquer Western countries and establish a worldwide caliphate in which everyone has to submit to allahwallah or else.
Like so many American and European leaders, Cameron likes to separate islamist political ideology from islam itself. This is stupid, futile and dangerous because everything the islamists do is rooted firmly in the koran, mohamMAD’s life, and all the haditha interpreting the koran and what momad urged his followers to do. They conquered, pillaged and murdered for 1000 years based on momad’s doctrines, and now they’ve started again.

Yeah, that’s what a recent biography claimed – something disgusting with a pig’s head that showed no respect for a poor, dead pig at all. Some people say it’s a false story put about by Cameron’s critics and enemies.
However, he did go to Eton, a posh boys’ school that costs hundreds of thousands a year to attend. At Eton, they have all kinds of odd rituals and peculiar traditions that have lasted hundreds of years.
This probably primed him well for Oxford University where there are various exclusive societies that have odd rituals etc Cameron belonged to the Bullingdon Club, its members known for eating in restaurants and throwing bread rolls at each other. But no doubt, they practised other more esoteric initiation rites, of which the pig thing was supposed to be one.
Whatever, what convinces me most of Wavey Davey’s unfitness to run the country is not only his stupidity over islam, but also his fierce determination to keep us in the EUSSR, no matter what this undemocratic monolith does to destroy our country. That makes him a traitor of the first order.
Look out for 23rd June when we have the Referendum on staying in or leaving the EU. Wish us luck for our own Independence Day.
