UN voices alarm at growing number of child marriages in Iran

Feb 4, 2016 6:26 pm By Robert Spencer

The UN is alarmed, but this is happening because of Islam, which the UN would never dare criticize. But few things are more abundantly attested in Islamic law than the permissibility of child marriage. Islamic tradition records that Muhammad’s favorite wife, Aisha, was six when Muhammad wedded her and nine when he consummated the marriage:

“The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death)” (Bukhari 7.62.88).

Another tradition has Aisha herself recount the scene:

The Prophet engaged me when I was a girl of six (years). We went to Medina and stayed at the home of Bani-al-Harith bin Khazraj. Then I got ill and my hair fell down. Later on my hair grew (again) and my mother, Um Ruman, came to me while I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends. She called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was breathless then, and when my breathing became all right, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, “Best wishes and Allah’s Blessing and a good luck.” Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah’s Apostle came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age. (Bukhari 5.58.234).

Muhammad was at this time fifty-four years old.

Marrying young girls was not all that unusual for its time, but because in Islam Muhammad is the supreme example of conduct (cf. Qur’an 33:21), he is considered exemplary in this unto today. And so in April 2011, the Bangladesh Mufti Fazlul Haque Amini declared that those trying to pass a law banning child marriage in that country were putting Muhammad in a bad light: “Banning child marriage will cause challenging the marriage of the holy prophet of Islam, [putting] the moral character of the prophet into controversy and challenge.” He added a threat: “Islam permits child marriage and it will not be tolerated if any ruler will ever try to touch this issue in the name of giving more rights to women.” The Mufti said that 200,000 jihadists were ready to sacrifice their lives for any law restricting child marriage.

Likewise the influential website Islamonline.com in December 2010 justified child marriage by invoking not only Muhammad’s example, but the Qur’an as well:

The Noble Qur’an has also mentioned the waiting period [i.e. for a divorced wife to remarry] for the wife who has not yet menstruated, saying: “And those who no longer expect menstruation among your women, if you doubt, then their period is three months, and [also for] those who have not menstruated” [Qur’an 65:4]. Since this is not negated later, we can take from this verse that it is permissible to have sexual intercourse with a prepubescent girl. The Qur’an is not like the books of jurisprudence which mention what the implications of things are, even if they are prohibited. It is true that the prophet entered into a marriage contract with A’isha when she was six years old, however he did not have sex with her until she was nine years old, according to al-Bukhari.

Other countries make Muhammad’s example the basis of their laws regarding the legal marriageable age for girls. Article 1041 of the Civil Code of the Islamic Republic of Iran states that girls can be engaged before the age of nine, and married at nine: “Marriage before puberty (nine full lunar years for girls) is prohibited. Marriage contracted before reaching puberty with the permission of the guardian is valid provided that the interests of the ward are duly observed.”

According to Amir Taheri in The Spirit of Allah: Khomeini and the Islamic Revolution (pp. 90-91), Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini himself married a ten-year-old girl when he was twenty-eight. Khomeini called marriage to a prepubescent girl “a divine blessing,” and advised the faithful to give their own daughters away accordingly: “Do your best to ensure that your daughters do not see their first blood in your house.” When he took power in Iran, he lowered the legal marriageable age of girls to nine, in accord with Muhammad’s example.

“UN Voices Alarm At Growing Number Of Child Marriages In Iran,” Agence France-Presse, February 5, 2016:

Geneva: A growing number of young girls are being forced to marry in Iran, UN rights experts warned Thursday, decrying laws permitting sexual intercourse with girls as young as nine.

Following a review of the situation in Iran, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) urged the country to “repeal all legal provisions that authorise, condone or lead to child sexual abuse.”

The committee, which is made up of 18 independent experts who monitor the implementation of international children’s rights treaties, said it was “seriously concerned” over reports that child marriages in Iran were on the rise.

A growing number of “girls at the age of 10 years or younger … are subjected to child and forced marriages to much older men,” CRC said.

Compounding the problem were laws allowing sex with girls as young as nine, and a lack of criminalisation for sexual abuse of even younger children, it said.

The committee also lamented a law obliging wives “to fulfil sexual needs of their husbands at all times,” which it stressed “places child brides at risk of sexual violence, including marital rape.”

Stressing the devastating effects child marriage can have on the physical and mental health of young girls, the experts called on Tehran to introduce national laws clearly banning and criminalising the practice….

    UN voices alarm at growing number of child marriages in Iran
    …………………………….

    This should surprise no one. One of the first things the Ayatollah Khomeini did upon seizing power in Iran was lowering the marriage age for girls to nine.

    The current Ayatollah Khamenei supports this, as well.

    Here are figures from a couple of years ago:

    “Sharia in action in Iran: 850,000 female children are married”

    http://www.jihadwatch.org/2013/04/sharia-in-action-in-iran-850000-girls-under-age-10-are-married

    By all accounts, things are getting even worse there now.

    Here’s a little Iranian girl dressed for her wedding:

      Allow me to disagree. I’m very surprised at the UN for expressing this concern. The only hypothesis I can think of is that the idea that this sort of thing has nothing to do with islam is so ingrained in the minds of the people calling for it to end that it managed to overcome their PC MC mind-block – in short, they’re so trained to disassociate islam from anything negative it didn’t occur to them that marrying single-digit aged girls to men with ages closer to triple digits is part of islam and, as such, they felt free to criticize it.

        I have to agree, it IS a surprise the UN would even notice, let alone speak against, any practice that imitates Muhammad, but I also stand with Graven Image in total and unutterable disgust that this is allowed to continue ANYWHERE, under any pretext, when it’s well known how completely damaging it is to those innocent children! Why the WORLD has not risen agains this unspeakable abuse is beyond my comprehension! Muhammad was never Yhwh God, and not even a true prophet; bowing to his hate-filled and perverted example is obscene!

          I am just as disgusted with the islamic practice of Bacha Bazi where it is a status symbol to surround yourself with young pre and early pubescent boys, who they kidnap and repeatedly rape, en masse.

          The Canadian and American Military has had notices given that they are not to interfere with the practice (Due to Cultural Relativity), even when these young BOYS are being kidnapped from local villages and violently raped ON NATO BASES.

          This practice has been replicated in all countries that have Islamic Mosques and is a dirty little secret of Islam that doesn’t get prosecuted, EVEN IN THE WEST. (BBC Had a story of Imam’s defending themselves Raping *** DESIRABLE *** BOYS using the Quaran and stating that it is DISCRIMINATION AND ISLAMOPHOBIA to EVEN CHALLENGE THIS PRACTICE.

          I will GARAUNTEE that the U.N. WILL NEVER SPEAK OUT ABOUT THIS ISLAMIC PRACTICE as it does not fit the FEMINIST AGENDA.

          The fact that within the REFUGEES TO CANADA, there ARE CHILD BRIDES BEING BROUGHT IN MARRIED TO OLD MEN. The fact that the U.N. is stamping it’s seal of approval on these “FAMILIES” to be Refugees to the West is a sickening testament to the complicity of this body.

        I think a problem is the west is based on capitalism, consumerism and materialism is the God. And in Islamic countries they have gone too far with religion.

        I think humanity needs a balance.

        We are spiritual beings born with a soul which needs constant nourishing and we need to learn virtues and morals. Unfortunately materialism has destroyed all that and is the new God.

        I hate this materialism where the $ is God and it’s not much better in religious countries where fanaticism means only one religion has freedom.

        To me human rights means the right to live in a spiritual society where God comes first not money. Where morals and virtues are more important than power or wealth.

        That society doesn’t exist yet,

        I live in the west but as a spiritual person I don’t feel free at all.

        In the west I can get spiritually killed easily by materialism and consumerism and in Iran I’d be killed or imprisoned as a Baha’i so neither system affords me a decent spiritual existance.

        The Kingdom of God on Earth is the best system. As it endows everyone with spiritual rights not just bodily rights. That’s what Baha’is are building.

Go you unto all the nations baptizing them in the name of the father son and holy spirit(the end of Matthew, New Testament) , and when the deciples were filled with the holy spirit in the book of Acts, they baptised them in the name of Jesus. Why would his deciples disobey him so soon after his death? Doubting Thomas exclaimed, when Jesus appeared to him “My Lord and My God!” Read the New Testament because time is of the essence!

          Baha’is don’t accept Hadiths and so we don’t accept that as being true.

          We believe Muhammad only acted properly as He was error free like Jesus. We believe both Jesus and Muhammad were error free and never did anything but good.

          I have to disagree with the Baha’i view here; as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I know all too well the destructiveness of such attacks against young children, and I know Yeshua would NEVER condone such behavior; indeed, His statement was that it would be better for a person who hindered one of those little ones coming to Him, to have a millstone hung about his neck, and he be tossed into the sea; Yeshua was talking about the children brought to Him at that moment. And I can promise you such abuse does hinder.

          We condemn child sexual abuse in the strongest terms. We don’t believe that Muhammad sexually assaulted A’isha and that he married her at around 17-19 years of age.

          Of course we would never support a 9’year old child have sexual contact. That is against our beliefs.

          More from the appalling “worldcitizen1919”:

          I think a problem is the west is based on capitalism, consumerism and materialism is the God.
          ………………………………

          So “worldcitizen1919” has nothing to say against *child rape*, but instead castigates the free West for her embrace of free trade, which raises opportunity and the standard of living for everyone.

          Child rape is also *illegal* here–which this apologist does not even mention.

          More:

          And in Islamic countries they have gone too far with religion.

          I think humanity needs a balance.
          ………………………………

          “Religion”–in other words, the *rape of small children*. This is only a part of “religion” *in Islam*.

          So he believes we need a “balance” between free trade and institutionalized child abuse. *Ugh*.

          And–a small point in the scheme of things, of course–he apparently has not noticed that the United States is actually 83% Christian–hardly a secular population.

          More:

          We are spiritual beings born with a soul which needs constant nourishing and we need to learn virtues and morals. Unfortunately materialism has destroyed all that and is the new God.

          I hate this materialism where the $ is God…
          ………………………………

          And the soul is nourished *through child rape*? There is nothing in materialism that is so evil.

          Never mind the ludicrous claim that anyone who engages in free trade ergo is materialistic and regards money as God–simply a falsehood.

          More:

          it’s not much better in religious countries where fanaticism means only one religion has freedom.
          ………………………………

          That means “worldcitizen1919” considers things *better* in places that sacralize child rape than in the civilized West. *How sickening*.

          More:

          To me human rights means the right to live in a spiritual society where God comes first not money. Where morals and virtues are more important than power or wealth.

          That society doesn’t exist yet,
          ………………………………

          In other words, there are no human rights in the West, despite our efforts to ensure people can live freely and are not abused–because we have not struck a “balance” with societies that institutionalize such abuse.

          Will “worldcitizen1919” explain this? Don’t count on it…

          More:

          I live in the west but as a spiritual person I don’t feel free at all.
          ………………………………

          In the West, “worldcitizen1919” is free to practice his faith–and to attempt to spread it–with no restrictions at all.

          But he does not feel “free” because he cannot dictate his fellow citizens’ actions.

          Of course, he does not understand what freedom means at all.

          More:

          In the west I can get spiritually killed easily by materialism and consumerism and in Iran I’d be killed or imprisoned as a Baha’i so neither system affords me a decent spiritual existance.
          ………………………………

          *Grotesque* false moral equivalence. No one in the West is forcing this idiot to become “materialistic”–yet he equates it with being murdered by Mohammedans.

          One final point–“worldcitizen1919” has many times denied that child rape is sacralized in Islam on the model of the “Prophet’s” marriage to little nine-year-old Aisha–yet he has not a *word* of criticism for child rape in Iran, instead characterizing it as “religion”, and ‘nourishing the soul’. *Ugh*.

          The Bahai Faith is teaches that in some ways women are SUPERIOR to men and that the world cannot have peace until women have equal power.

          The Bahai Intenational Community at the UN is at the forefront of promoting women’s rights throughout the world.

          “Be ye confident on these accounts. His Holiness Bahá’u’lláh has greatly strengthened the cause of women, and the rights and privileges of women is one of the greatest principles of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá. Rest ye assured! Ere long the days shall come when the men addressing the women, shall say: ‘Blessed are ye! Blessed are ye! Verily ye are worthy of every gift. Verily ye deserve to adorn your heads with the crown of everlasting glory, because in sciences and arts, in virtues and perfections ye shall become equal to man, and as regards tenderness of heart and the abundance of mercy and sympathy ye are superior’.”

    It’s not hard to see the link between Mahmuds personal example and the recent mass seduction and abuse of girls in the U.K. and elsewhere; what is more difficult to fathom is how many so many Muslim men justify their sexual predilection and abuse of boys and adolescents. SAHIH BUKHARI Volume 7, Number 17: Narrated Jabir bin ‘Abdullah: When I got married, Allah’s Apostle said to me, “What type of lady have you married?” I replied, “I have married a matron’ He said, “Why, don’t you have a liking for the virgins and for fondling them?” Jabir also said: Allah’s Apostle said, “Why didn’t you marry a young girl so that you might play with her and she with you?’

    Since Aisha was the only virgin that Mohammad married, from this passage we can learn that he “fondled” and “played” with her while she was still a virgin, (between the ages of 6 and 9). Clearly Mohammad preferred sex with children as opposed to sex with grown women as he states his preference above.

    This practice continues to this day in both Sunni and Shia according to women’s rights activist Ghada Jamsheer. She has now been placed under permanent house arrest. You can view her comments regarding “mufakathat” or “mufaakhathah”, which she speaks of specifically being practiced with toddlers and even babies, on youtube just by searching her name or see the video with the transcript on memritv.

    Iran has a real problem with low birth rates. Because their women are better educated than most Muslim populations, Iran’s birth rate has plummeted. It has dropped faster than in any country in history. There are not enough young men coming of age, so Iran’s military prospects are dismal. The solution is to encourage child marriages — young people who won’t know enough to prevent or delay pregnancy. The end result, however, will be a lot of widows or divorcees with large families — a tremendous burden on the state.

      It’s worth remembering that Iran for many years before, during and after the great war against Iraq had a very high birth rate, so high in fact that they could have sustained their enormous casualties indefinitely through population growth and movement up through the age bands to then become cannon fodder. A shrinking population may be a good thing for Iran whose infrastructure in the cities struggles to keep pace with growth and with extremely dangerous air pollution levels a regular feature in Tehran.

        If the population of Iran shrinks even more- to zero-probably be even better- FOR CIVILIZATION.

        The same can be said for other citadels of reason, like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Tunisia, Algeria; Iraq; Morocco; and the rest of Obama’s 56 states (the OIC). (And the Muslim populations in civilized countries should also shrink-to zero).

    The UN demonstrates yet again that it is not a force for good since good must be accompanied by knowledge and strength in order for good to prevail. The UN lacks both knowledge and strength. Instead, it is a force for farce and so the acronym, UN, should be treated, I would contend, as standing for “Useless Nations.”

    Yes, it is not nearly enough to be against a particular wrong, e.g., a plethora of child marriages in the Islamic world, without being against the general wrong, in this case Islam, which promotes, indeed exalts, an abundance of errors, another one being death for apostasy.

    As an American, I want the UN out of America. Its headquarters here in America is a daily insult to what America and, more broadly, Western Civilization pioneered above all other civilizations and societies————liberty, equality under the law, a Golden Rule for all and a capacity to apologize for past wrongdoings (when has the Islamic world ever apologized for anything, even though it has so much to apologize for?). May I suggest the removal of Useless Nations headquarters to, let’s see here, Pyongyang, Tehran, Havana, Beijing, or yes Moscow, where true and enlightened liberty has never existed. After all, it would be so fitting since the UN and real freedom have so little in common.

    Firstly, the age of maturity should never have been 9 as its not scientifically correct and the Quran does not support it. So this is clearly wrong and based upon wrong interpretations of the Quran and using Hadiths to trump the Quran most probably for lustful purposes.

    Next, why is Iran being given billions of $$$ when its human rights records are the worst in the world and it is abusing children openly?? It should not be allowed in the family of nations until it develops some civility and humaneness.

    Next, accusing Muhammad of committing wrongdoing is merely an assertion that He was fallible and an ordinary man and not a Prophet. An ordinary person is indeed capable of such things as we see how much sexual abuse of children has occurred within Catholicism and other Christian organisations which claim to act ‘in the name of Jesus.’

    However, we believe Muhammad was a Prophet of God and therefore was infallible and free from error or mistake or wrongdoing and that the Quran is the Word of God and God being All good cannot be interpreted as anything but promoting good, so refute the attack on Muhammd and the Quran on grounds they were both from God and God is perfect goodness and does not commit evil.

    Baha’is maintain that both Muhammad and the Quran were from God and thus beyond reproach and any blame attributed to either is false, misinformation and misinterpretation or both.

      More profound LIES & DECEIT courtesy “worldcitizen” & the Baha’i fallacies …

      And “worldcitizen” also believes that the Bible predicts that ‘prohet muhammad’ would come, but this simply isn’t true:

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Question: “Does the Bible prophesy the coming of Muhammad?”
      Answer: There are three primary passages in the Bible that Muslims often point to as prophecies of the coming of Muhammad: Deuteronomy 18:15-22, Song of Solomon 5:16, and John 16:5-11.
      First, in regards to Deuteronomy 18:15-22, the immediate context of this passage refers back to verses 9-14. There Moses warns the people of the danger of false prophets. God’s people are to avoid any and all who presume to speak authoritatively about spiritual truth apart from God’s truth. What is God’s truth? Verse 15 says a particular prophet will arise from the Jews (i.e., “your own brothers”) who will be like Moses. Notice that it’s not just any prophet, as there have been many, but a special prophet. People who studied and believed the Old Testament writings were looking for this particular, special prophet. In fact, some Jewish leaders thought the fiery preacher John the Baptist might be the fulfillment of Moses’ prophecy (see John 1:19-30). John the Baptist, however, said that he was the forerunner of the prophet of whom Moses spoke, not the prophet Himself.
      Who then is this prophet spoken of in the Bible? He is clearly none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. John 1:43-45 records that the early followers of Jesus understood He was the prophet of whom Moses wrote. Jesus Himself declared this about Himself (Luke 24:27). The most complete statement pointing to Jesus as the promised prophet is found in Acts 3:12-26. The deacon, Stephen, reiterated this in Acts 7:37. Such notable men as John the Baptist, Philip, Peter, and Stephen all testified that Jesus Christ, not Muhammad, is the prophet predicted in Deuteronomy 18:15-22.
      Second, in Song of Solomon 5:16, the maiden says of her lover, “His mouth is sweetness itself; he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, this is my friend, daughters of Jerusalem.” The word translated as “lovely” is the Hebrew word machamadim. It is the plural of machamad, which means “lovely, cute, or desirable.” Although it is the root word of Muhammad, it does not follow that the verse refers to Muhammad, especially since the word used is a plural adjective, not the name of a person.
      Finally, in John 16:5-11, Jesus prophesies that after He leaves, the Counselor will come, and this Counselor will “convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment” (John 16:8). Who is this Counselor? Jesus Himself gives the answer a few verses later in John 16:13, “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth…” Jesus explicitly identifies the Counselor as the Holy Spirit. Jesus previously had used very similar terminology to predict the coming of the Holy Spirit: “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name…” (John 14:26). It is abundantly clear in the Bible that the Counselor Jesus prophesied was the Holy Spirit, not Muhammad.
      In conclusion, the Bible nowhere specifically predicts the coming of Muhammad. Muhammad was not the prophet Moses predicted, and Muhammad was not the Counselor Jesus predicted. Since the message of Muhammad contradicts the message of Jesus and the Bible on many points, the only biblical prophecy that would apply to the coming of Muhammad would be Matthew 24:11, “And many false prophets will appear and deceive many people…”
      Uh, worldcitizen, mentioning in the same post the infallibility of Mohammed while bringing up the sexual abuse by a small minority of Catholic priests is almost the stuff of parody considering that Mohammed bedded a nine-year old and never had a single sexual desire denied him by Allah (can you name just one?) Moreover, whatever sexual abuse occurred by Catholic priests was done in COMPLETE VIOLATION of Catholic dogma, contra Islamic dogma which condones, for God’s sake, actual sex slavery, i.e.,all that “whatever the right hand possesses” rubbish.
      Really, I don’t think you get at all how destructive you are of your own convictions just by way of stating what Mohammed and the Koran are really all about. So, I say keep up the good work.
      “Firstly, the age of maturity should never have been 9 as its not scientifically correct”
      Can you show me where Islamic texts claim anything about this being “scientifically correct”? That does not even make sense, since Islamic texts are not scientific texts.
      ” and the Quran does not support it.”
      But the hadith do. (Which you would know, if you had bothered to educate yourself about Islam.)
      From the hadith of Bukhari, volume 5, #234
      “Narrated Aisha: The prophet engaged me when I was a girl of six. We went to Medina and stayed at the home of Harith Kharzraj. Then I got ill and my hair fell down. Later on my hair grew (again) and my mother, Um Ruman, came to me while I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends. She called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was breathless then, and when my breathing became all right, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, “Best wishes and Allah’s blessing and a good luck.” Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah’s messenger came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age.”
      Bukhari vol. 7, #65:
      “Narrated Aisha that the prophet wrote the marriage contract with her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old. Hisham said: “I have been informed that Aisha remained with the prophet for nine years (i.e. till his death).””
      The rest of your nonsense I won’t waste time reading. I’m still waiting for your response on the other thread. (Which you know as well as I do that you will ignore, just like you will ignore my FACTS here.)
      You’ve never read the Quran, any hadith, or the Bible. You know ZERO about Islam. You know ZERO about Christianity.
        Scientific as in today’s science.
        For Baha’is Baha’u’llah’s Words are sufficient as they are the Word of God.
        As I said you can say anything you want but your limited knowledge cannot compare with the knowledge of a Manifestation of God which Baha’u’llah is, so you take up the matter of the Quran with Him in His Book of Certitude and then come back and maybe you will have some basic knowledge of what I’m talking about.
        For the moment you’re relying on unreliable information of notes that are not recognised by God. It doesn’t matter what man writes. All that matters and is really true and important is what God says on the matter.
          I do not WANT to be anything but what MY heart tells me. No book or words printed on paper can tell me how to worship God. I have my own relationship with the Creator and it is between Creator and ME, not fallible words written nor any MAN who tells me how I SHOULD worship. God made us all INDIVIDUALS with bright and inquisitive minds and in his image. So, you and your fellow Baha’ai have the nerve to tell me, who is created in Gods image, how to walk my path to God?           As for marriage to children? Aisha became ill right after her marriage to Muhammad at age six. She said her hair fell down(out).           what harm is there in pretending that violent Islam is a decent faith and that its foul tenets should be part of world religion? The question answers itself–for good people, anyway.
        The only religion that teaches NO CONFLICT is Buddhism.
        Albert Einstein’s quotes on Buddhism
        1) “Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a cosmic religion for the future: It transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural and spiritual; and it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual, as a meaningful unity.
        2) “If there is any religion that would cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism.
    the ‘dirty old men’ who obviously have no respect for females and consider them just recipients for their
    nasty ‘sticks’ – which I wish would all just fall off ! I can’t think of a better punishment for the lot of them !
    Serious yuck factor involved – no explanations needed – we all understand this whole thing perfectly – how
    can anyone in the West have any respect for this filth ?
    How many countries in the UN are dictatorships that hate the U.S.?
    And how many are Muslim nations who, besides despising everything not Muslim, also happen to hate the U.S.?
    So we’re supposed to surprised by these kinds of decisions?
    I’d bet odds this is exactly why the League of Nations flopped.
    Hi
    I have notice that you continually cite the reference from sahih bukhari :
    The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death)” (Bukhari 7.62.88).
    What you are blissfully unaware of is that this hadith and those which you cited are mistranslations.
    She was not 6 years old. She was around 24 years old.
    What you are also blissfully unaware of is that there are many mistranslations out there, in printed books, on the internet replicated over and over again etc. Wikiislam is full to the brim of mistranslations and you are reading these mistranslations and making decisions.
    Fatima, may Allah be pleased with her, Muhammad’s daughter, peace be upon him, married Ali, may Allah be pleased with him when she was 18 but they had to wait 1 year before they could consummate the marriage making her around 19 years and 4 months old. This being the minimum age of consummation of the marriage.
    This is not an interpretation nor a moderate view.
    Jawed
    • Robert Spencer says
      Feb 5, 2016 at 3:18 pm
      Jawed, the copy of Bukhari I have here in my office is a Saudi bilingual edition published by Darussalam. Are you seriously suggesting that Saudi translators, native speakers of Arabic, didn’t know the difference between the Arabic words for “six” and “twenty-four”? I can read the Arabic myself and see that it says that Aisha was ست. Does that not mean “six”?
      Moreover, as I noted in the post, child marriage is rampant in the Islamic world and is repeatedly and explicitly justified by reference to Muhammad’s example. I suppose all that is based on a simple “mistranslation”? Or is it that millions of native Arabic speakers don’t know the difference between “six” and “twenty-four”?
      You say, “This is not an interpretation nor a moderate view.” Indeed. It’s an outright deception. Your comment is a sterling example of how Muslims are willing to lie to unbelievers to advance the cause of Islam.
        Feb 5, 2016 at 6:30 pm
        I can understand that you contend my point based on the number you read in the hadith. This a difficult hadith to translate the point in this hadith that must be noted is that it does not mention the word age. It mentions years. In Arabic when you tell a person age you use the word عمر (ain mim ra) meaning the age in this hadith there is no mention of the word عمر (ain mim ra). It only refers to years. But not which years. Once this understood we understand that this hadith is referring to other things. Secondly, there is no word in those hadith that means consummated. Thirdly, from analysis of other hadith it is clear Aisha age was much older as she mentions she was a teenager around 15 16 17 when a certain revelation was revealed and that was 9 years prior to her arriving in madina. Where she was conducted to muhammad , peace be upon him. Fourthly, there are many mistranslations and darrusalam have many gross mistakes in thier books. Fifthly, this criminal action which you mention taking place is not sanctioned in islam. The unfortunate things is criminals and criminality are rampant.
        Finally I am not lying.
          Of course you are not lying! You BELIEVE this stuff. But you are wrong. Do you know how many Muslims have used this same pitiful argument to downplay all the horrendous stuff in the Qur’an alone? For your own sake and happiness, look into all the sources of Hadith. Don’t just listen to what your Imam says! THINK FOR YOURSELF FOR ONCE! Also, while you are at it, dig and find translations of the Bible that Muslims erroneously claim have been misinterpreted to justify their doctrine. LASTLY, the Qur’an condems ANYONE from misinterpreting the Holy Qur’an or any words of Muhammad, bless his perverted soul, so why do you ALL use that excuse???? Because you are in deliberate DENIAL about the true nature of Islam. The Hadith I am reading is an old translation, as is my Qur’an. Translated well before ISLAMOPHOBIA was ever an issue. Wake up Jawed. You are being duped and your salvation depends upon finding out the answers to the questions you are obviously asking yourself.
          If Jawad *truly* believed this and was not just spewing Taqiyya here for the benefit of the filthy Infidels, he would be trying to convince his pedophile coreligionists, not the good people of Jihad Watch.
      That’s great. Now all you need to do is convince all the clerics at al-Azhar university and the Shia authorities of that as well. Perhaps then they’ll update all the sharia law manuals for you.
The forced Islamic refugees into America and Europe may very well be the spark that triggers the worldwide upheaval. If so, we can safely predict that deaths will be in the millions. Elijah, our forthcoming World Ruler, has stated that New York City, Washington DC, London, and Jerusalem will sustain well-nigh lethal attacks by radical Islamists. Elijah also has stated that the carnage resulting from this worldwide pandemonium will be well-nigh unbelievable. Huge portions of America, Europe, and other countries will resemble war zones.
    I think this is the single subject that turned me from an accepting-all-views to totally anti-Islam person some years ago ! Reading about this I began to realize that Muslim men seem to have a total preoccupation with their sex lives to a level way above normal males, making me feel rally, really disgusted, and now just to see a Muslim woman, or a ME male brings up this whole subject in my head. How can any mother allow such things to happen to their baby daughters – these men are rabid, filthy monsters and I personally wish to castrate the lot of them !     Seeing the responses from worldcitizen* I went to see what this Baha* thing was – it is founded on Shia Islam – that explains the apologies we see here – just another organisation with a bunch of beliefs that ONLY they have the truth and ONLY they understand what the God figure is and wants.
    The rational truth is that NOBODY knows if there IS a higher level of being, we only have this feeling that there MUST be something else besides ourselves – why are we here, what is the purpose of all this – etc!
    Since He/She/It does not come down and enlighten us we are left to form groups and fight each other, how ridiculous it all is – so I blame that same He/She/It for this situation, there is no excuse, you have created us, or we accidentally came about and you haven’t a clue what to do with us, so here we are fermenting & going crazy with the unknowns and you just leave us in this state ? A very sorry state of affairs, however for those of us who have a gracious and loving heart there are basics of love & respect for all that would make this world tolerable, IF WE COULD REMOVE THE RELIGIOUS NUTTERY THAT SURROUNDS US – as my old Dad used to say – ‘if only we could get rid of the religions, we would be much better off’.
      Agreed! Even Christians think their way is the “only” way, when their own God himself “created” humanity in so many different shapes, colors and mind sets. What of ALL the European people at the time when all these Middle Eastern religions were coming into existence? Asia? The Americas? The North people? This merciful God totally ignored the very existence of these people. That was mighty white of him! Ah and “Him”. “He” also forgets 50% of the population- women! Sure there are some small references to women, but certainly not 50% references!! Who in their right, honest and open mind can’t see the obvious here? EVERY MIDDLE EASTERN RELIGION, Christianity included, for indeed THAT is what it is, all believe they have the one and only truth and they all have a history of war, murder and Power hungriness over the poor. They all tweek their scriptures to fit their own needs. There is no difference between a Modern Muslim ignoring the “bad” parts of the Qur’an, or a Modern Christian who doesn’t think divorce is OK, women not cutting their hair, ignoring the millions of homeless etc.
        Lack of understanding about your Creator makes this statement about mindsets wrong! Yhwh God allowed free will. The first humans failed to adhere to 1 simple command, choosing instead their own “understanding” and to follow a lie. Humanity, by and large, has been doing so ever since, despite our Creator’s repeated efforts at course corrections. All those peoples you speak of BEGAN in the same “cradle”, with the same set of inititial teachings from Him, but most chose to follow what seemed “good” in his own eyes. Yhwh allowed that, for this time, because He wanted followers who would freely choose His way, not do so as automatons, or by force. The time in which that free will choice is about to come to an end.it was foretold there would be aday when Yhwh’s chosenSon would reign as King over all the Earth, and that time is now on the horizon, when every knee WILL bow to Him, and every tongue WILL confess He is Lord; that includes the Hindus, Shintos, Buddhists, Baha’is, Muslims, and those who follow every other religious system on Earth, but for most, that confession will also be their death knell, coming too late to alter their futures.
        “Seek ye the Lord while He may be found” is the best advice any can offer you. Very soon, it will be too late.
      He DID come, and will soon be returning to establish His Kingdom on Earth. Meanwhile, He left us His written Word as His guide for us. Most call it the Bible. His name is Yeshua (“God’s salvation” in English). And you can know Him here and now, as many of us do. Simply acknowledge you’re asinner, turn 180 degrees away from your past, sinful thought and behavior patterns, and ask Him into your heart in faith in His completed work on Calvary. He already paid the penalty for your sins, let Him have them and trust with all your heart in Him. He loves you, you know.
    From the pedophile position, here’s a good reason for marriage and sexual rape/manipulation of prepubescent children (female and male). Prepubescent children are developmentally vulnerable, and very dependent upon the adults in their lives not only for physical survival, but also for emotional and psychological survival.
    Manipulating a 9 year old girl (or boy) into sexual intimacy and daily domestic life with an adult male, is more likely to guarantee complete domination and control of that child through adulthood. Humans are biologically wired at such young ages to “imprint” upon adults and become dependent upon them in every way.
    There are some real contradictions if these people are really committed to obeying their “god”. When you examine the human species in a realistic way, it is apparent that our females are not developmentally “ready” for sex relations and motherhood at least until after their first menstruation. Many developmental professionals comment that a girl should NOT become pregnant until at least one year AFTER her “first blood”, otherwise her and the baby’s health can suffer.
    So, here’s my question to the followers of “allah”: hasn’t your god set up human biology so that females are not ready to become wives/sex slaves/mothers until one year after “first blood”? Aren’t you “apostates” if you engage in sex relations with prepubescent girls?
    What about sex between men and prepubescent boys?. We seem to be biologically designed for “heterosexual” intercourse, if you examine our bodies with an open mind. Same sex relations is a much bigger issue I can’t get into here, but sex between adult males and prepubescent boys within a certain totalitarian cult is very much an issue here!
    If we can confront the Catholic church regarding its treatment of pedophile priests and their victims, we MUST confront similar practices among other religious groups as well!
    Finally, not sure if multiple wives is something that’s biologically set up either. Statistically, human births are split almost 50-50 between males and females, we do not have 4 or more female births for every one male birth.
    Polygamy makes biological sense only if such skewed gender ratios are present due to other factors that have reduced the male population, usually war. Polygamy makes biological sense only temporarily in such circumstances, not as a permanent arrangement.
    However, from the viewpoint of totalitarian societies, polygamy makes women unavailable to a large percentage of the young male population. Young men are certainly driven by hormones, and what better place to channel sexual frustration than into rioting, destruction, and war? Keep a large percentage of your male population in seething frustration, and you’ve got yourself a violently aggressive army just itching for action!
