Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Washington Post writer: When I met Islamic State fighters, I couldn’t hate them

Feb 7, 2016 5:20 pm By Robert Spencer

Imagine the Washington Post publishing an article in 1943: “Nazi Germany sent my best friend to Dachau. But when I met its fighters, I couldn’t hate them.” How have these people lost all moral compass, or worse, decided it best to side with America’s enemies?

“The Islamic State commits despicable acts of cruelty, but the men who carry out these crimes are not the two-dimensional caricatures they’re painted to be. They are human beings, many indoctrinated at the most impressionable age and coerced into service.” Of course they are. And no one, actually, should be hated. But to write a piece like this is to equivocate on the moral evils these men commit every day.

Islamic State Libya Christians

“ISIS kidnapped my best friend. But when I met its fighters, I couldn’t hate them,” by Sebastian Meyer, Washington Post, February 5, 2016:

SULAYMANIYAH, IRAQ — As a journalist based in northern Iraq for the past six years, I’ve seen the war with the Islamic State closer than I’d like. In the summer of 2014, my best friend, a man I’d come to love and respect during my time reporting here, was taken prisoner by the militants. We were more like brothers than friends, and I haven’t heard from him since.

I was filming about 180 miles away on the evening he disappeared. I drove through the night to join a group of his friends and family in a rescue effort. While the militants stormed west across Iraq, we worked exhaustively to find him. (I can’t say more about him, because doing so could put him in further danger.) We were driven by rage and desperation.

Months later, Diji Terror, a Kurdish counterterrorism unit based in Sulaymaniyah, granted my request to interview an ISIS fighter I’d heard they had captured. Finally, a small chance to press the Islamic State for answers about its tactics. A chance for some catharsis.

Ali was seized during a nighttime raid caught on film: In the footage officials showed me, Diji troops handcuffed, blindfolded and bundled him off on a helicopter. Ali had beheaded prisoners, they told me; I couldn’t help but think of my friend.

When I met him, Ali wore an orange jumpsuit and plastic sandals. He sat hunched in his chair as a guard lit a thin cigarette and passed it to him. He took it with both hands, his wrists cuffed together, and inhaled deeply. (In Islamic State territory, smoking is forbidden.) This sight was a far cry from a propaganda photo I saw of him dressed in black, standing commandingly behind a Kurdish peshmerga soldier he says he subsequently executed.

Ali was born in 1995 and joined the Islamic State in 2008, at the age of 13, he told me. He was trained as an assassin and given his first mission two years later. He and three friends were sent to kill four Iraqi police officers in Mosul. The group tracked the men down, executed them with shots to the back of their heads and buried them where they fell. Ali said he had killed eight or nine men in battle, not including the five he’d beheaded.

I asked him to tell me about the peshmerga soldier whose head he cut off. In a soft, compliant voice, he told me he had pushed the Kurdish soldier belly-first onto the ground in front of him. He placed his knee in the man’s back and then severed the neck with a bayonet. Did Ali have a message for the families of the peshmerga he’d beheaded? He went quiet for a second, and then his face screwed up very tightly and he began to sob.

If all of that is true, then Ali had indeed been a dangerous terrorist, and the world is safer with him behind bars. But he had also been a child soldier, a vulnerable boy coerced into becoming a terrorist. I interviewed many other fighters like him, some just 14 years old when the Islamic State came to their villages and compelled them at gunpoint to join.

The Islamic State commits despicable acts of cruelty, but the men who carry out these crimes are not the two-dimensional caricatures they’re painted to be. They are human beings, many indoctrinated at the most impressionable age and coerced into service.

A few weeks after the interviews, I saw a photo taken after a battle between the Kurds and the Islamic State near Sinjar, Iraq. In the lower left-hand corner is the body of a militant, his head just out of the frame, blood pooling by his left shoulder. His name is Abdul Aziz Faraj Yusuf, age 16. I’ve seen a lot of photos of dead Islamic State fighters, but as I reread the boy’s age, I felt something different. Gone was the sense of retaliatory satisfaction. This was a dead child. I wasn’t angry anymore. I was heartbroken….

How nice that ISIS is free to preach hate and turn these children into killers but that Christians in the name of “dialogue” smile kindly and show nothing but respect for Islam.

Islam is a social psychosis in stark opposition to almost all of Christianity.

We Orthodox Christians do not smile blandly at Islam’s mad adherents. We know them for the implacable enemy they have ALWAYS been.
This fluff piece is written for one purpose: to soften our hearts so we can’t fight them. The West’s elites wants us to capitulate without even a fight. I reject that West.

The Roman Catholic Church has all but accepted dhimmi status to Islam. The Pope’s calling for the West to take in millions of Muslim refugess shows that the Catholic Church is not interested in protecting Christians from Muslim savages. I hope that all conservative Catholics leave the church and donate their money to charities protecting Christians from Muslim genocide. We Christians of all denominations must unite to protect our brothers and sisters from Islamic persecution.

Shane, we should not be surprised that the Catholic Church has done this. They did the same thing during WWII with Hitler. Sold their sold to survive as long as they could. If the US had not entered the war and helped defeat Hitler, you can be sure destroying the Catholic Church was on Hitler’s agenda. He allowed no religion except worshiping himself, just as the Muslims allow no religion except their own. On my shortlist of historical questions I would love to have answered is WHY priests helped Nazi’s escape the allies. But that’s another story. Sadly, the Catholic Church has not learned from history. I’m sure most of us know what follows.

Western elites like Sebastian Meyer don’t understand the jihadist mentality. THEY ARE FIGHTING US!

Whatever we do or say, they will fight us. If we fight them, they will fight us. If we pander to them, they will fight us. If we accommodate them, they will fight us. If we surrender completely to them, they will still fight us.

The jihadists will fight us until victory. They will never stop fighting us.

Before you go mad shouting filth at this reporter, think what this shows and proves – the West is on the right side of this battle, we are the ones with feelings towards the individuals who get caught up in the fight, they used to have feelings, this shows what has happened, do not blame the reporter, be glad we can still see what this filthy cult of Islam can do via it’s extremists. This makes no difference to the fact that this situation has to be dealt with as a war, those who have joined (or who have NOT refused to participate ) have to be treated as the enemy or the war cannot be won. If we could win this battle by simply being sympathetic to the kids they train as killers, that would make the battle easier BUT OF COURSE IT IS NOT THE ANSWER. This is the reality of war, and we have to defend the West from those who want to kill us and change our world to fit their ideas. The reporter is just telling you he is a caring, understanding human and this is a terrible, humanity-destroying cult we are dealing with. All of you who spout hatred & filth are no better humans than the enemy !

        …………………………………

Of course we are the more compassionate ones, vc–but do you really consider a moral part of that compassion to be empathy for those who are causing the pain in the first place? Is questioning whether it is moral to spend most of one’s compassion for a mass murderer who has beheaded his victims really “filth”?

        More:

Muslims are still human–this means they are still moral agents. It is not as though they have to embrace the very worst of their foul creed. There are, in fact, Muslims who have *left* Islam because it is so vicious.

        More:

This makes no difference to the fact that this situation has to be dealt with as a war, those who have joined (or who have NOT refused to participate ) have to be treated as the enemy or the war cannot be won.
        …………………………………

Ah–but there’s the rub, isn’t it? While during WWII we could have compassion for Hitler Youth being indoctrinated as boys, we could still fight them–we knew, in fact, that they best way to help them was to defeat Nazi Germany.

It is unclear whether we still have such resolve today, or whether we are so compassionate towards the people who would enslave and murder us that all too many of us have lost the will to oppose evil at all.

        …………………………………

*Really*? Do your actually believe that not showing sympathy to murderers makes one morally the same as those who use girls as sex slaves and behead journalists and aid workers? Is *this* your definition of “filth”?

If this were actually true, then you would not know whether to fight ISIS–or just many of those who oppose Jihad.

          GI I agree with you.

In my opinion, TO HAVE SYMPATHY, EMPATHY OR ANYTHING TO A MURDERER-ONE WHO ADMITS TO BEHEADING PEOPLE- IS SICK-ON THE PART OF THE PERSON SHOWING SYMPATHY, EMPATHY, ETC. AS WELL AS THE PERSON DOING THE KILLING .

In WW2, guards were executed for murdering Jews, homosexuals and other undesirables. I was not born until after the war, but I never heard ( even from the Germans that I knew- and know now- that felt anything but contempt for the Germans who did their evil deeds).

This piece of shit JOINED AT 13-so he volunteered. And the reporter-people indoctrinated, etc ad infinitum. WHAT ABOUT THE JIHADISTS WHO LIVE IN THE US, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, ONCE GREAT BRITAIN, ETC AND KNOW FREEDOM- WHY ARE THEY EXEMPT?

The problem with Christian humanity is that some suppose this applies to only one’s enemies. But it also should apply to our neighbors, friends, and countrymen, and values. It doesn’t ultimately matter if you hate or don’t hate. What matters is that you have the fortitude to defend what you love.

Joanne, this sly young man (even at 13-16yo a youth could be considered such) volunteered to join ISIS knowing that they are a vast tribe of men who murder, rape and pillage other men and their families. He wasn’t coerced, he wanted to be an assassin, he wanted to fight in war and make 8-9 kills, he lusted to sever the heads of 5 bound prisoners.
His desire to kill is in all of mankind, humans are the ultimate predator on earth and it has been this way for millennia. I too was a prolific killer at his age but I was hunting big game and slaughtering farm animals. No innocence here either but much different morals and values.
So yes, a 13 year old soldier is just as lethal to you and your family as a 25 year old. He must be removed with no second thought or pity.
Culture and civilization is a very precarious entity, it has happened so little in our long existence on Earth and it could be shuttered in the blink of an eye. That blink of an eye is Islam, its removal by any and all means is imperative.

Bet, though, that Meyer could hate a lot of evangelical Christian conservatives. Meyer also proves in microcosm what that old fashion liberal, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, said of modern liberalism and that it that its single greatest fault is its incapacity to accurately recognize and deal effectively with evil.

Modern conservatism has not been infected with far right ideas, the ideas of reactionaries, but modern liberalism has definitely been infected by far left ideas, the ideas of radicals. While I have disagreements with old fashion liberals, a dying breed to be sure, chiefly along economic lines, such disagreements pale compared to those I have with modern liberals who have indeed gone over to the dark side.

Wildjew: The hate of the modern left for Christian conservatives has many Orwellian, many totalitarian, elements about it. Fitting though since so-called progressives and Muslims have so much in common, not the least being the demonization of anyone who disagrees with them.

Yes, don’t bother to cogently disagree with your opponent’s point of view. Why do that? Just demonize and dismiss. Telling for all those who prize truth, but, of course, this would exclude Muslims aplenty and aplenty as well those in the West on the left side of the political spectrum.

I think this liberal streak in journalism is a direct result of two generations, raised in affluence, that has never served as soldiers nor experienced war in the homeland that stops essential services and kills their relatives. 9/11 came close but is a fading memory.

Sebastian Meyer should take a poll of returning combat soldiers and see how much agreement he gets for a Kumaya understanding of killers who shed a tear or two.

Sadly, Mr. Myers generation, by painting Islam’s charcter as they would idealize, and not as it really is, will likely get the education they sorely lack. At least they will get a warning by observing Europe. However, that didn’t prove sufficient for the US before WWII.

To Wellington – re “…such disagreements pale compared to those I have with modern liberals who have indeed gone over to the dark side.”

inspires me to share a bleak experience I had a couple of weeks ago. I was taken by someone very dear to me to the play, Book of Mormon, whose content I knew little about until I saw it, in Portland, Oregon. This play, billed as a musical comedy, was a big hit, I recall, in NYC.

I am not particularly thin-skinned, and although it tends to be dry, I have a great sense of humor (and irony) but I was completely offended at this tasteless effort, and had I been on my own, I would have walked out well before the intermission. It was a sneering, evil attack on Mormon religion and Christian religion as well. I am not a church-going person, but I found it massively insulting. It was a nasty assault on the very concept of religion, missionaries, no holds barred and the humor, such as it was, consistently espoused sexual anarchy, as far as I could understand it. At its core was an elitist and very hateful message. It did not elicit anything even approaching a smile from me, let alone a laugh.

It was presented in a very nice, huge, downtown Portland theater, and every seat and balcony was occupied. The place was totally packed, and no one left at the intermission. The audience appeared to be the creme de la creme of Portland society. They were all uproarious throughout the whole play. They ALL thought it was HILARIOUS.

I don’t think I will ever forget this sudden, unexpected and brutal exposure to what the left hath wrought! It was chilling beyond description. BTW, I am new to Oregon, from NYC and NYS and not acculturated to Portland society.

      Take care, Wellington.

      Cheers!

Recall that after being receiving death threats from Muslims for the “Muhammed Bear” episode of South Park (where Muhammed was not even depicted, but never mind) they essentially decided that Islam was off-limits.

I appreciate your sensitivity. I grew up Mormon, and laughed all the way through the play. I saw it quite differently. It portrayed Mormons as warm, loving and idealistic, if a little silly. It left out all the really nasty parts of that religion, the current misogyny and past racism, and so was far kinder than it might have been. I’m out, but proud to see how well the Mormons took it all. For that part, I am truly proud. Would that Muslims could get a sense of humor.

Washington Post writer: When I met Islamic State fighters, I couldn’t hate them
    ……………………………….

If Sebastian Meyer couldn’t hate this mass murderer who had beheaded his victims because he was a “child”–even though he is now twenty-one years old–couldn’t he at least hate those who had recruited, trained, and ordered his killing?

Of course not–because “the men who carry out these crimes are not the two-dimensional caricatures they’re painted to be. They are human beings…”.

If we *do* lose to Islam, this misplaced moral stupidity will be the primary reason why.

    More:

I asked him to tell me about the peshmerga soldier whose head he cut off. In a soft, compliant voice, he told me he had pushed the Kurdish soldier belly-first onto the ground in front of him. He placed his knee in the man’s back and then severed the neck with a bayonet. Did Ali have a message for the families of the peshmerga he’d beheaded? He went quiet for a second, and then his face screwed up very tightly and he began to sob.
    ……………………………….

Note what Meyer is doing here: taking the brutality out of this beheading by saying that this atrocity was related in a “soft, compliant voice”–but this was only the case because Ali was now in custody.

And note further that Meyer is *assuming* that Ali began to cry out of remorse for beheading this man, while his sobs might as easily been because he isn’t now in a position where he can behead more victims.

This journalist is a danger to America. In his world everthing is relative. If Hiltler had lived to stand trial, and interviewed by him, we would be reading about how young Adolph was misled, forced to do something he knew was morally wrong, and, couldn’t we see the human side of this monster after he shed a few tears?? (with good reason for what’s about to happen)

Who needs hate? How about simple justice for an ISIS monster who believes in the ideology that PREACHES an eye for an eye – Islam. This Islam-ignorant NYP writer thinks ISIS taught this young man it was acceptable to kill. ISIS didn’t teach him that – it was ingrained by Islam in his youth.

This decapitator believes in killing killers and would relieve the “jounalist” of his head if the circumstances were reversed. How do journalism schools turn out such naive graduates? Perhaps that has something to do with why so many get killed around Muslims. They swallow the Taqiyya until the bullet or sword falls on them.

No one should apologize for hanging Nazis at Nuremberg nor for hanging this monster decapitator. Simple justice, following the rules of his own belief system, is adequate. No hate necessary.

Yes, if this dangerous reporter would have balanced his story with a demand for a speedy war crimes trial and Nuremberg style sentence, perhaps conservative readers would not be so outraged at his piece. What does he suggest be done, lock him up at gitmo then let him go as soon as obama closes it ? Or, send him to Sweden for tax payer paid counseling?

His point is that these murders are human! Of course they are, but that does not make them any less instruments of evil. Human also are the thousands of boys at the world wide madrassa schools paid for by the Saudis. Wait until that group of children is unleashed on the West.

Your comment about Hitler’s childhood is right on. I’m sure John Wayne Gacy had a horrible childhood too.

Hi, Quotha. I have compassion for child soldiers, as well. But this Jihadist is now twenty-one years old, and has been a moral adult for quite some time now.

He has not appeared to regret any of his violence, nor to have ever attempted to have done anything to mitigate it. It looks like the only thing that stopped him was his being captured.

And Sebastian Meyer takes Ali’s sobbing as remorse–even though didn’t actually express any regret at all.

I think that Meyer would better saved his compassion for Ali’s *victims*.

To Gravenimage – Totally agree. I related to the article originally as an editorial, and my reaction was mild. The ethical context did not jump off the page at me but, after reading a bunch of comments, including yours, I reassessed my opinion and changed it.

In my work, I interviewed a fair number of high-profile criminals. I’ll always remember a few of them because they were so unlike the sort of person you’d have expected to have committed the crimes they did. One was a guy known in the media as the East Side Rapist, who targeted serially one-woman travel agencies etc on the east side of midtown NYC, and another was Lemrick Nelson, who stabbed an Australian orthodox Jew to death during a riot in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

I felt more curiosity about them than sympathy for them, but I was amazed that they were the ones who did their particular crimes. I can, to some extent, identify with Sebastian Meyer. You never know how people will strike you. I’m sure that moment, if Meyer is being truthful, got under his skin.

Then again, the whole thing could be pure fiction, work motivated by any of a number of things: desire to influence/propagandize; desire to make a name for himself or get a Pulitzer; someone paid him extra to add that bit! Entirely possible!

Christians are waiting for Christ to *repay* the tribulation, which He has promised to do. Putting all of the verses together, it is obvious that our Creator knows how we feel about the wrongs being done and what we wish Him to do about it.

“Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and dancing….. (Ex chapter 15)

cont. “Then Moses made Israel set out from the Red Sea, and they went into the wilderness of Shur. They went three days in the wilderness and found no water. When they came to Marah, they could not drink the water of Marah because it was bitter; therefore it was named Marah. And the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?”

But as Bill Coleman says, why not to mention the criminality of the entire concept of ISIS? And why you did not explain that you also understand the ferocity of the criminal design that sustains ISIS which is in search of power and money. Why not emphasize that for ISIS that soldier is just like a trained, disposable dog. Why not emphasize that the entire radical proposition of Islam is just the will to maintain and make stronger a class of exploiters, pedophiles, and abusers that are at the top of it? Why not mention all this, to show more clearly how much that soldier is a victim of a criminal organization? And a note, Sebastian: in our so much despised society, criminals cannot be hated, if they are, that is considered an impediment to the administration of justice.

Oh, please!. This is so incredibly transparent in the writer’s attempt to force everyone who condemns this killing for satan into a feeling of shame.
Calling these demon-filled worshippers of satan and his beast “human” for the sole purpose of making what they are doing less horrific…for pr on their behalf… is what is shameful.

So the older fighters went to the village and forced them at gunpoint to become sadistic killers. These same ones go to the villages of Christians and use guns on them and the Christians give up their own lives…the Christians die while these *poor babies* must become like those who recruit them because, well, they just must. Can’t we all just see that?

And if anyone says they “hate” these monsters, worshippers of satan, killers for the beast, then that one is just so terrible…it’s not Christian, etc.

Well, anyone saying it isn’t Christian to hate another person, should read Psalm 11:5. There we are told that Almighty God…the One Jesus said we are to “be like” (Matthew 5:48)…is said to “hate” “those who love violence.”

“His soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence.”

Ted Bundy had a terrible childhood and later became a serial killer. What serial killer had a wonderful childhood, I can’t say. Probably most of them were abused or deprived of something they needed.

But being abused or deprived is no excuse for depravity. There are thousands of children, hundreds of thousands, who are abused and grow up to be loving adults.

In these areas of the world where isis is torturing and murdering for the thrill of it, raping in lust, stealing in greed…there are those who are resisting joining them because they would rather die than take part in these depraved, demonic actions.

So he *spoke softly* and he *sobbed*…well so what? Many will cry when caught after committing crimes and they lose the *steam* they have when in the throes of killing someone defenseless. That doesn’t make them deserving of sympathy.

Psalms 11:5 “The Lord…hates the wicked…and the one loving violence.”

Blah, blah, pathological altruism and unwarranted self-righteousness. That’s how wars are lost. Didn’t you learn the lesson from Vietnam? Sheesh, talk about Stockholm syndrome by proxy…

And, of course, Sebastian Meyer overlooks that the “acts of cruelty” he glosses over are an obligation to allah, a divine duty ISIS fighters need to fulfill – we’re not talking exactly about Kony 2012.

Gone was the sense of retaliatory satisfaction.

I’ll lose my sense of retaliatory satisfaction when they stop wanting me dead. Until then, I’ll enjoy reading a story about an ISIS terrorist being vaporized by a drone, or a suicide bomber getting prematurely blown on a plane, or Russian men getting hands-on with “Syrian” “refugees” who got hands-on with Russian women.

That’s not the fault of Judeo-Christian ethics. It’s the fault of people misunderstanding and sometimes deliberately misrepresenting Judeo-Christian ethics.

For example, the Bible nowhere teaches turn the other cheek when it comes to evil. The passage is in the context of and in reference to personal insults and the taking of personal revenge. Why should no one be hated? If someone took your loved ones and tortured them to death in front of you, would it be a requirement for getting into Heaven, the one deal-maker-and-breaker for all Christians, that you love him? Because “Jesus” and “God” and “The Virgin Mary” all love him equally with you and those he brutally murdered?

Supernaturalism is insane. You break the hearts of the already devastated with your sanctimonious platitudes in the name of mythological security blankets. You believe that “people are born sinful” on the alleged word of a mythological non-existent sky-dwelling Father who metaphorically takes you to the woodshed and gives you a crippling beating to show his “Love”. If “we are all born sinful”, then are not those of us who fight beside you but are have not Accepted Jesus and Been Saved” just as evil as the jihadists in your eyes?

Think about that. We do, and it fills us with a sort of chronic, resigned despair.

Letter to Jihad Watch on Rules of Engagement 2-7-16

I’m watching the movie Merrill’s Marauders. I grew up surrounded by the Greatest Generation. We’ve gone from the Greatest Generation to the Generation of Degenerates.

I keep harping about those Audio Terrorists in their “boomer cars”. Believe it or not I just heard one “drive by” my house. These are the new generation of social predators that have become the norm. What I call the “New Rude”. Like the Jew hatred now fashionable on college campuses across the country; The Islamic version of the Hitler Youth, the Muslim Student Association spewing the kind of antisemitism and Jew hatred not heard since 1930’s Nazi Germany. Along with their Nazi Styled Boycott movement. The same Nazis and Communists

Today’s reality along with the New Rude that is Islamic terrorist attacks.

I was raised in San Bernardino. My blood boils when I think of the city council meeting I went to where the agenda item was “Security Measures”. They talked about cameras, metal detectors and license plate readers. But the one word that never came up was “terrorism”.

I spoke during public comment, another item that gets my blood boiling, but I won’t get into that, and expressed my disgust that they discussed everything except for the REASON they were discussing “security measures” in the first place.

Our local rag, leading off the article about the meeting with “San Bernardino Shooting”, said absolutely nothing about terrorism either.

Shortly after the “shooting. the local officials and police crawled on their bellies to the local mosque that the terrorists attended and reassured them they had nothing to worry about from any “backlash” and the community was fully behind them.

I made up one of my “letters” I post everywhere titled “Rules of Engagement”. And here I get so pissed off I can’t see straight. Like I said, I was raised around the Greatest Generation; Those who fought in WWII. About ten years ago I actually had the privilege of finding myself sitting next to one of the Marines who raised the original flag on Iwo Jima and about six months ago had a book signed by Ted Pannell who’d written “Vietnam Stories: Dreams to Nightmares”. His wife Sylvia, one of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever met, was helping her husband “plug” his book.

These guys knew how to deal with the enemy. And had a working knowledge of exactly who the enemy was. As John Quincy Adams did as illustrated in Andrew Bostom’s article “John Quincy Adams Knew Jihad” and his book Sharia vs. Freedom where it compares the leftist apologists for Islam with the Communist sympathizers and witless sycophants, (I spell it psychophants), during the Soviet era.

Today our government doesn’t have any concept of “Know Your Enemy”, they collaborate with them.

Read People Are the Same the World Over by Hugh Fitzgerald and The Vast Majority Myth by William Kilpatrick where they expose the fact that not everyone, everywhere loves the kind of “freedom” America is based on.

Study the “Rules of Engagement” and the fact that in Iraq and Afghanistan we left a sharia law totally intact that has been responsible for the mass murder of our troops and the troops of our allies and compare this with how we addressed Japanese Shintoism and German Nazism after WWII:

Sayonara Shari’a: Japanese Lessons, Lost? By Andrew Bostom.

“Gifts from Heaven”: The Meaning of the American Victory over Japan, 1945 by John David Lewis | Foreign Policy & Defense, History
    https://www.theobjectivestandard.com/issues/2007-winter/american-victory-over-japan-1945/
Read this article for parallels on Afghanistan and Iraq and with how we’re fighting terrorism today. We are totally failing when it comes to identifying the enemy, stating our objectives and destroying our enemies. We should do with Islam the same as we did with the other state religion in Japan; Shinto. This was a policy of NO negotiation. Our policy was “surrender or die”. There status as a “defeated enemy and the democratic reforms were hammered into the heads of every man, woman and child in Japan.

Check out Obama’s “COIN (counterinsurgency) Strategy”, a fraud perpetrated on the American people, that was little more than “a post-modern form of human sacrifice” in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This was forwarded to me by a very dear friend, one with whom I would entrust my life and it concerns each and everyone of us here in the west. Isn’t it about time we dropped the willful veil of Political Correctness forced upon us by our so-called, “Leadership”?
Subject: Fwd: American Airline Pilot speaks his Mind:
This pilot hit the nail right on the head in his open letter.
A newspaper stated that some Muslim doctor is saying we are profiling him because he has been checked three times while getting on an airplane.
The following is a letter from a pilot. This well-spoken man, who is a pilot with American Airlines, says what is in his heart, beautifully.
    YOU WORRY ME!
By Captain John Maniscalco, American Airlines Pilot
I’ve been trying to say this since 911, but you worry me. I wish you didn’t. I wish when I walked down the streets of this country that I love, that your color and culture still blended with the beautiful human landscape we enjoy in this country. But you don’t blend in anymore. I notice you, and it worries me.
I notice you because I can’t help it anymore. People from your homelands, professing to be Muslims, have been attacking and killing my fellow citizens and our friends for more than 20 years now. I don’t fully understand their grievances and hate, but I know that nothing can justify the inhumanity of their attacks.
On September 11 [2001], ARAB-MUSLIMS hijacked four jetliners in my country. They cut the throats of women in front of children and brutally stabbed to death others. They took control of those planes and crashed them into buildings, killing thousands of proud fathers, loving sons, wise grandparents, elegant daughters, best friends, favorite coaches, fearless public servants, and children’s mothers.
The Palestinians celebrated, the Iraqis were overjoyed as was most of the Arab world. So, I notice you now. I don’t want to be worried. I don’t want to be consumed by the same rage, hate and prejudice that has destroyed the soul of these terrorists. But I need your help. As a rational American, trying to protect my country and family in an irrational and unsafe world, I must know how to tell the difference between you, and the Arab/Muslim terrorist.
How do I differentiate between the true Arab/Muslim Americans and the Arab/Muslim terrorists in our communities who are attending our schools, enjoying our parks, and living in OUR communities under the protection of OUR constitution, while they plot the next attack that will slaughter MORE of the same good neighbors and children?
The events of September 11 changed the answer… It is not MY responsibility to determine which of you embraces our great country, with ALL of its religions, with ALL of its different citizens, with all of its faults. It is time for every Arab/Muslim in this country to determine it for me.
I want to know, I DEMAND to know and I have a right to know, whether or not you love America ….. Do you pledge allegiance to its flag? Do you proudly display it in front of your house, or on your car? Do you pray in your many daily prayers that Allah will bless this nation; that He will protect it and let it prosper? Or do you pray that Allah with destroy it in one of your Jihads? Are you thankful for the freedom that this nation affords? A freedom that was paid for by the blood of hundreds of thousands of patriots who gave their lives for this country? Are you willing to preserve this freedom by also paying the ultimate sacrifice? Do you love America ?? If this is your commitment, then I need YOU to start letting ME know about it
Your Muslim leaders in this nation should be flooding the media at this time with hard facts on your faith, and what hard actions YOU are taking as a community and as a religion to protect the United States of America. Please, no more benign overtures of regret for the death of the innocent, because I worry about who you regard as innocent…. No more benign overtures of condemnation for the unprovoked attacks, because I worry about what is unprovoked to you. I am not interested in any more sympathy; I am interested only in action. What will you do for America – our great country – at this time of crisis, at this time of war?
I want to see Arab-Muslims waving the AMERICAN flag in the streets. I want to hear you chanting ‘Allah Bless America ‘. I want to see young Arab/Muslim men enlisting in the military. I want to see a commitment of money, time and emotion to the victims of this butchering and to this nation as a whole.
The FBI has a list of over 400 people they want to talk to regarding the WTC attack. Many of these people live and socialize right now in Muslim communities. You know them. You know where they are. Hand them over to us, NOW! But I have seen little even approaching this sort of action. Instead I have seen an already closed and secretive community close even tighter. You have disappeared from the streets. You have posted armed security guards at your facilities. You have threatened lawsuits. You have screamed for protection from reprisals.
The very few Arab/Muslim representatives that HAVE appeared in the media were defensive and equivocating. They seemed more concerned with making sure that the United States proves who was responsible before taking action. They seemed more concerned with protecting their fellow Muslims from violence directed towards them in the United States and abroad than they did with supporting our country and denouncing ‘leaders’ like Khadafi, Hussein, Farrakhan, and Arafat.
IF the true teachings of Islam proclaim tolerance and peace and love for all people, then I want chapter and verse from the Koran and statements from popular Muslim leaders to back it up. What good is it if the teachings in the Koran are good, pure, and true, when your ‘leaders’ ARE teaching fanatical interpretations, terrorism, and intolerance? It matters little how good Islam SHOULD BE if huge numbers of the world’s Muslims interpret the teachings of Mohammed incorrectly and adhere to a degenerative form of the religion. A form that has been demonstrated to us over and over again. A form whose structure is built upon a foundation of violence, death, and suicide. A form whose members are recruited from the prisons around the world. A form whose members (some as young as five years old) are seen day after day, week in and week out, year after year, marching in the streets around the world, burning effigies of our presidents, burning the American flag, shooting weapons into the air. A form whose members convert from a peaceful religion, only to take up arms against the great United States of America, the country of their birth. A form whose rules are so twisted, that their traveling members refuse to show their faces at airport security checkpoints, in the name of Islam.
We will NEVER allow the attacks of September 11, or any others for that matter, to take away that which is so precious to us — our rights under the greatest constitution in the world. I want to know where every Arab Muslim in this country stands and I think it is my right and the right of every true citizen of this country to DEMAND it. A right paid for by the blood of thousands of my brothers and sisters who died protecting the very constitution that is protecting you and your family.
I am pleading with you to let me know. I want you here as my brother, my neighbor, my friend, as a fellow American…… But there can be no gray areas or ambivalence regarding your allegiance, and it is up to YOU, to show ME, where YOU stand. Until then,
    “YOU WORRY ME!”
    CANADIAN COMMENTS:
I totally agree with this sentiment. I hope you will forget all about the ‘political correctness’ mandate we’ve had rammed down our throats, and see if this doesn’t ring true in your heart and mind. For Canada , with all the multiculturalism we’ve been told is so important …. why should we not, as Canadians, expect that the millions of new people immigrating to our country will show their love for our country, their allegiance to our country, their willingness to obey the laws of our country, and acceptance that we are a Christian country? Just because they are able to enjoy exercising their own religion, they should NOT expect us to be ashamed of ours. They knew Canada was a Christian country when they came here. Why are we erasing Christianity because immigrants who are unwilling to adopt our way of life expect us to? There is just too much insanity in the world, and we have to start taking a stand. I hope you will forward this, so that others will feel they are not alone if they are starting to feel the same.
    BRITISH COMMENTS:

The pilot’s letter encapsulates all that is fair and just about national pride and protection of one’s national culture. I fear it may be too late here in UK , BUT we too want our country back in the form that attracted all these different cultures to come here in the first place!! In all our conversations with a wide range of friends and acquaintances we have not met one that disagrees with our own views. If only we all had the courage of our convictions to pass this on, it is a statement that should be accepted as the heart-felt feelings of someone with honest commendable national pride.

So many stinking parallels to the Nazis pre WWII and the Communists it’s disgusting.

      “Willfully Blind”

I watched that video of this guy or gal, I can’t remember, asking questions of college students on a campus, “Who won the Civil War?” “Who’s the vice-president?” And in spite of the volumes that I know about our liberal s**t holes that are our universities, I was literally slack-jawed. It’s like a kick in the gut knowing that this is our younger generation today. When asked about televisions shows and movie stars they answered without thinking. Literally. I think one person was looking at his phone when he was asked some question about some TV show and the answer was instantaneous.

I’ve made a point of asking cops I meet who CAIR is. Not one has ever known the answer. I asked an old acquaintance I met at a city council meeting after having been away the same question. Nada. And this is a guy who’s supposedly involved with issues at the local level, regularly attending city council meetings.

He was also an Israel basher. I don’t know if it had anything to do with his ignorance about CAIR, but it was the same rabid “occupiers” and “poor Palestinians” crap. When I asked some simple questions about things like the British Mandate he had no idea what I was talking about.

I get so depressed when I think about this. I was a pothead when I was a kid. Kicked out of high school for fighting at seventeen. A drunk for about five years after that. But I’ve practically got a frigging doctorates compared to most college students and the general public when it comes to the issues!!!

I think about the premiere social network on the Internet, Facebook, and it’s run by a god-d**ded SOCIALIST bent on Thought Control and Indoctrination!!!

Did you read about that “open mike” with Mark Zuckerberg and Merkel? Mind blowing!

Again; I watched the movie Merrel’s Marauders the other night. I thought it wouldn’t show what a living hell these guys went through but it did a pretty good job of it. It scares me to think how this generation would have dealt with similar circumstances. Hopefully Benghazi and those SEALS give me an answer to that question. Partially at least.

      What a bummer.

In most areas of conflict it is quite normal to discover that combatants do not hate the enemy. It is not hate towards the enemy that drives someone to fight against a foe it is the desire to defend something that is loved and valued that drives the soldier. Even soldiers of IS are fighting for a way of life they believe in and want to protect. That they are misguided is , according to our viewpoint , quite evident. It may be that some of their fighters may well feel differently, now, than they did when they were first recruited.. It may be possible to feel sympathy towards them. It still does not mean they ought not to be sentenced to death for their crimes. You can feel sorry for a rabid dog but you still have to destroy it.

I agree that Jihadis are “not the two-dimensional caricatures they’re painted to be”. They are ONE dimensional. One book, one interpretation, one penalty for not agreeing with that interpretation, one legal system (shariah), one nation (caliphate), and of course, one religion. Further, if you agree with common media portrayals of Muslims they are all one-dimensional peace lovers with the violent “extremists” being not worthy of consideration. This is just as much of a stereotype as claiming all Muslims want to kill non-believers. The only difference is that one view is based on experience and the other on wishful thinking and concerns over one’s self-image (I’m NOT a racist).

The journalist is delusional, so delusional that were he to receive his friend’s head in a box he would not be able to discern good from evil. The man needs to be medicated, not writing for a major news outlet.

Reading the comments to this post has left my head spinning with things to say and thoughts to think. But I’m on the move and on a phone, so no chance. Fantastic! Actually, that’s probably all I’ve got to say anyway.

Hmmm. I remember people going all ga-ga over that fat old Marmot Mao. In the Viet Nam War era, we saw oh so many pieces “humanizing the enemy”. Now we have the Washington ComPost’s finding a captured ISIS fighter a likeable young man, and a dead teenaged ISIS fighter a “dead child” (oh, how sad–and one of the noble savages at that). Well, I knew UN people who had sat down and talked with Ta Mok, who was Pol Pot’s hatchet man and one of the most blood-soaked human monsters in living memory, and recalling how he has all the sweet, pleasant mannerisms that are the birthright of any old person raised a Theravada Buddhist.

    No wonder we’re losing.

I’m sure the US Cavalry shot a number of teenaged Lakota, Cheyenne, Apache, Comanche and other fighters back in the day. The Hitler Jugend were the bitter enders in WWII, and I had uncles who while wearing US military uniforms probably killed some other those Susse Kinder.

Sure, they’re people like you and me. But the line between good and evil runs through every individual human heart.

Heard Ted Bundy was a very likable sort. How much did they pay you to write this?
